Apes, we need to be prepared for Nasdaq's potential manipulation of FFIE's price after any trading halts. Their procedures give them power to temporarily depress the reopening price.
When a stock like FFIE is halted, Nasdaq controls the reopening process. They choose the order execution method (price/time or pro-rata priority) and can extend quoting periods if there are order imbalances.
With a significant sell-side imbalance, Nasdaq's choices like using pro-rata priority could allow larger sell orders to be filled ahead of buys, pushing down FFIE's price when trading resumes.
While the long-term squeeze thesis remains intact, we must have diamond hands and not panic sell if Nasdaq employs these underhanded tactics to create artificial dips.
Their authority over reopenings means short-term price suppression is possible after halts.
FFIE is soaring and the movement is growing!
Don't be shaken by any temporary Nasdaq fuckery. The only way to defeat their games is to buy and HODL with unshakeable resolve.
We can stay regarded longer than they can stay solvent.

My location had (4) clerks and one just retired, that management knew about for the better part of a year. They haven’t found a replacement or even started the search. I was just promoted to PTF at the start of the year. The three remaining clerks were told that we would lose our NS days and only have Sunday off moving forward since we’re “short staffed”. A few weeks in, and they’re allowing the one regular yo have her scheduled NS day each week. They claimed that an email came in late at night that said she has ti have her NS day because they’re a regular. I think it’s due to cronyism, since this same regular is good friends with the supervisor and post master,
We were also told that vacation days wouldn’t be approved because we’re down one clerk. When I attempted to schedule a vacation day, they had me work Sunday, which isn’t taking time off, that’s just rescheduling my days/hours. The same regular that got her NS day, had a 2-week vacation approved, which means I’ll be working 7-days straight each week. My question is, can they do this just because one of the clerks is a regular and I’m a PTF? I’m concerned that I have no recourse and will get burnt out quickly from having just a few days off each month. To make matters worse, I mainly work a split schedule where I’m at the building for 12-13 hours each day with a 2-4 hour lunch.

Its my guilt pleaseure to watch them try and re-invent the wheel by putting their own terrible unique personal spin on a throw and then exacuting it all really badly and making out that that throw is somehow going to be your solution to stand up and short cut to not needing to butt scoot or investing years in actual stand up with a cheeky thumbs up at the end. With the highly anticipated Cisco Live 2024 just around the corner, we're thrilled to share some insider tips from our Cisco Champions, u/scottm32768 and u/arharris2, to help you make the most of your experience in Las Vegas. Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned attendee, there's always something new and exciting to discover at this premier networking event.

Travel
Arriving in Las Vegas at least a day before the conference starts is not just a smart move; it's a strategic one. It gives you ample time to rest and recharge before a busy week ahead, ensuring you're at your best for the event. So, make sure you get there no later than mid-afternoon to avoid any last-minute rush. And while you're at it, don't forget to pack comfortable walking shoes as you'll be doing a lot of walking during the conference.

Hotel
To ensure maximum flexibility and convenience, we strongly recommend staying at a hotel within a 15-minute walking distance from the convention center. This way, you won't be tied to bus schedules and can walk to the conference at any time, giving you more control over your schedule. The Mandalay Bay and the Delano offer a short walk to the convention center, making them excellent choices. However, the Delano is your best bet if you want to avoid walking through the casino. The Luxor and Excalibur are a bit farther away (20+ minutes walking), but with their covered and air-conditioned walkways, you won't have to worry about the weather or getting too tired.

Sessions
If you're planning to attend Cisco Live, it's important to sign up for your breakout sessions before the conference begins. Unlike some other conferences, signing up beforehand is mandatory at Cisco Live, as it guarantees you a reserved admission to the session of your choice. This is especially important for the most popular sessions, so plan your sessions in advance to avoid missing out on the ones you really want to attend.
Once the session catalog opens up on the registration website, it is advisable to schedule the sessions you are most interested in as soon as possible. You can always go back later to change sessions. It's important to prioritize the topics that are most important to you, as there are usually more sessions than you can attend. When choosing sessions, don't just read the titles. If a session title sounds interesting, read the abstract to get more details about what the session will cover. You can also get an idea of the technical depth of a given session based on the session number. 1000 level sessions are introductory, 2000 are intermediate, and 3000 are advanced. If you are experienced with a given technology and choose a 1000-level session, you will likely be disappointed at the lack of depth. For sessions that are not new, you can also look at the slides on the Cisco Live On-Demand Library to get an idea of what the session will cover. However, for new sessions, you have to rely on the abstract. Shortly before the conference, you can download the session PDFs. This will allow you to double-check your choices and make any necessary adjustments to your schedule. Don’t forget to leave some room in your schedule to explore the World of Solutions Expo!
To get the most out of the sessions, it's recommended that you arrive early and get settled in a good seat. The first few minutes of a session usually contain valuable information that you don't want to miss. When attending session, don't hesitate to ask questions during the presentations if something isn't clear. Other attendees may have the same question, and the speakers are usually happy to clarify. If you have a more detailed question, it's best to wait until the presentation is over to ask. Pro tip: conference rooms can be chilly, so don’t forget to pack a jacket!

Meet the Engineer
If you have unanswered questions about Cisco technology, you might want to consider scheduling a Meet the Engineer (MTE) session. It’s time with just you and an engineer who is a specialist in Cisco technology. They can help you with analysis of a technology, comparison of a Cisco solution with an alternate solution, difficult TAC cases, and more. It’s a great opportunity to spend some quality time with someone who can help you solve those difficult problems and answer the hard questions.
While you can always stop by the booth to talk to an available engineer, scheduling a session in advance will allow you to choose the engineer you want to work with. This personalized access is only available at Cisco Live! You can easily find the right person to schedule by using the Meet the Engineer button in the session abstracts. Even if you don't think you have enough questions to fill an hour, scheduling an engineer and inviting other attendees to join you can be a great way to get more value out of the MTE sessions!

World of Solutions
Remember to set aside some time during the week to visit the World of Solutions. This is where you can speak with vendors, explore various product lines, attend demos, participate in self-paced labs, or capture the flag events to enhance your skills. If you have any tough questions saved up, you can ask Cisco people, both technical and non-technical, and there's a special section of the show dedicated to TAC people.
While there are receptions with food and beverages and lots of tchotchkes, the World of Solutions is a great place to make contacts. If you want to have a real conversation with any vendors, don't count on doing it during a reception - it's just too busy. It's better to devote a breakout session to the expo, where there will be fewer people, and you can have a meaningful conversation with the vendors.

Cisco Live Celebration
The Cisco Live Celebration, formerly known as the CAE (Customer Appreciation Event), is a giant social gathering for all the attendees. It’s a great time to relax and socialize with people you’ve met at Cisco Live. For Las Vegas 2024, Elton John will be headlining the Cisco Live Celebration will be at Allegiant Stadium. Be prepared to be reminded of when rock was young with some Crocodile Rock!
Every year, the bus rides back from this get crazy. Leaving a bit early may save you a ton of time. Depending on where you’ve chosen to stay, it may be within walking distance, and the weather in the evening is usually quite comfortable.

We are hosting a community event in honor of our last week of Terminal Attack! If everyone in the community can pull together to achieve a total of 7 MILLION eliminations in TA this week, everyone who contributed will earn a sweet prize: canvas shoes to add to your cute-mmunity look!
We’ll also host a leaderboard for the event so you can see the top contributors! As always, we’ll give out prizes on Discord during the event.
This update focused on many quality-of-life changes and improvements. Most notably, we have made changes to melee weapons, hoping to improve how they feel to play with in the game. We’ll need your feedback on these changes!
Let’s get into the nitty-gritty:

Content and Bug Fixes

Animation

• Fixed an issue where hand gesture animations were overriding the Mesh Shield animations, resulting in broken character poses
• Fixed an issue where throwing animations would not play while inspecting weapons
• Added an intro animation in terminal attack to improve the round countdown

Audio

• Player Voice lines will now only play for teammates and not opposing players

Gadgets
Anti-gravity Cube

• We made the cube heavier so that it doesn’t get pushed as easily when hit by other objects
• Fixed a bug where objects would lift much faster than intended when they were attached together
  • This also prevents an exploit in which the cube could be carried upwards together with the objects it’s lifting, causing entire structures to traverse upwards into the sky endlessly

Dome Shield

• Fixed an issue where it was not able to be glitched when the center was occluded

Gameplay

• A new carriable object has been added to the Arena: Glitch Barrels -- Dev note: Glitch barrels are carriable objects. Pick them up and throw them to apply their effect in an area, or shoot them to detonate them from afar. The Glitch barrels apply the same effect as Glitch Grenades, removing the target's ability to use their Gadgets and Specializations.
• Fixed an issue where players were able to start opening a Vault during the beginning of an emote
• Fixed an issue where the Cashbox was incorrectly dropped far away from the player if it clipped through the map border
• Interactions such as using a zipline, pressing elevator buttons, and interacting with a revive statue should now be more responsive, especially on console/gamepad
• Improved visibility of barrels in dark and monochrome areas
• Fixed a bug with sliding where auto-sprinting players could get stuck between the crouch and sprint state
• Fixed a bug that allowed players to deal damage to their teammates
• Fixed an issue where players would get stuck in goo when running up to it Dev note: This will only fix the issue outside of moving platforms. We know that goo sometimes behaves strangely on moving platforms and are looking into it for a later patch.

• Rooftop reflections have been improved

SYS$HORIZON

• Tweaked the zipline at the Museum entrance so you exit earlier automatically instead of it taking you all the way to the ceiling

Monaco

• Power Shift: Adjusted spawns to balance out the distances to the platform and to reduce how often you have to run after the platform when defending

Modes
Terminal Attack

• Added a distinct sound change on the Terminal when there is only 15 seconds left to stop the decryption
• The icon for the terminal will no longer appear in the center of the screen when decryption starts
• Due to a known issue that could not be resolved in time, players can only swap weapons and gadgets between rounds and not in spectator mode after elimination

UI

• Ping wheel additions and changes
  • Added new ping messages “Breach here” and “Hold this Position”
  • To make room for the two new pings “Hype” and “Danger” have been moved/removed. Hype is added to the expression wheel, replacing “Need Help.” “Danger” is removed from the wheel but still accessible via double-tapping the ping button on any target
  • Support/Social pings are now located at the bottom of the wheel, while tactical options are on the top half
  • “Going here”, “Defending here” and “Attacking here” in the Ping wheel are now called “Go here”, “Defend here”, and “Attack here” to make it clearer that they are requests to your team, and consistent with the character voice lines
• Updated several event log messages related to pinging game mode relevant objects to communicate the context more clearly Dev Note: There are still some events missing their proper messages. They will be added in the future!
  
• When holding the ping wheel on your own ping now we only show the remove option to make it clear that you pinged an existing ping
  
• Fixed an issue that sometimes made it impossible to cancel the ping wheel

I am expecting my first child in a few weeks and will be delivering via scheduled c-section. I have had abdominal surgery once before (hence the need for the c-section) and found the recovery to be rough (and that was without a newborn to take care of). My husband and I are trying to do everything we can to make our first few weeks postpartum go as smoothly as possible. I have talked to lots of other moms who recently delivered via c-section and have been reading through reddit threads about c-section recovery, what to expect the first few days of baby's life, etc. Our goal is to take things slowly and minimize chaos wherever possible.
My parents, who are retired and live 12 hours away, have been planning to come help out when the baby is born. I was grateful for their offer of support - we have room in our house to accommodate them, and they are still young and agile enough to be helpful. My mom is a complicated person; we have a close but complicated relationship I have spent much of my adult life learning to more effectively navigate. That said, I find her presence comforting when I am not well - she took care of me after my first surgery, and despite the pain I was in, I think back on that time really fondly. Moreoever, I loved the idea of my parents both being present to meet and spend time with my child (their first grandchild) at the beginning of his life. My mom offered that she and my dad would be available to help with laundry, cooking, and taking care of our two high-energy dogs. They proposed staying a few weeks.
As the delivery date nears, my conversations with my mom about the post-birth plan have become more and more tense.
Our first blow up was about my husband's and my decision to hire a night nurse to come five nights a week during the first two weeks postpartum. Hiring a night nurse was a significant expense for us, and it was a decision we made very carefully after talking to friends and co-workers who have recently had babies. We spent a ton of time researching and interviewing candidates before selecting someone we felt comfortable with. Our thinking was that the night nurse would be available to help during the nights she is here so my parents are rested enough to help during the day. I specifically hired the night nurse to start her shifts at 10pm, when my parents typically start getting ready for bed, and to leave at 8am, which is when my parents are usually having their morning coffee.
My mom seemed to take this decision very personally and didn't like that I would be taking advice, and seeking support from, anyone other than her. She accused me of "packing the house with people" and being overly concerned with planning for the worst-case-scenario. She also seemed to think that the night nurse made her obsolete. I explained that I am counting on her help and support during the day and want her to have time to rest. She said it was presumptuous of me to assume that she can't go a few weeks without sleep. She seemed to interpret our decision to hire a night nurse as a sign of ingratitude. "Why am I turning my life upside down if you are paying someone else to help?"
Her reaction really hurt and surprised me, but I tried to stay calm. I pointed out that my husband and I had already made a decision and that this was not a negotiation. I also pointed out that she seemed to be prioritizing her own feelings and was not listening to what I was saying WE need as we navigate this post-op recovery and transition to parenthood. She replied that she is allowed to have feelings. Still, the conversation ended with me in tears. My mom and I never revisited the conversation (my mom is not very good at repair and is loathe to apologize - plus, I don't think she thinks she has anything to apologize for).
Today, we got in another fight because my mom is insisting on bringing their dog with them when they come. This is the second time my mom has brought this up. My husband feels strongly that he does not want a third dog in the house because it will add unnecessary chaos. For context, one of our dogs gets overstimulated very easily and can sometimes be reactive to other dogs. When my parents visited with their dog for Thanksgiving, we had to watch our dog closely for signs of reactivity, give her breaks, etc. My parents' dog also barks more than either of our dogs, and my husband is concerned about the noise. However, we would like OUR dogs to be home with us so they can begin to acclimate to the new baby.
I communicated all of these concerns to my mom and offered a number of solutions, including 1. that we can find a local Rover or petsitter to watch her dog for the first week they are here, 2. that we can find a local Rover or petsitter to watch our dogs, or 3. that she and my dad can stay with their dog in a nearby Airbnb. My mom rejected all of these ideas and replied that we should medicate our dog if she is the one who is the problem. My mom refuses to consider a petsitter for her dog because the dog is a rescue with a history of abandonment, and she doesn't want the dog to feel like she has been abandoned again (note: our dogs are rescues, too, and we board them all the time). My mom once again accused me of micromanaging and clearly thinks my husband and I are being unreasonable. She said, "surely you can understand why I don't want to be without my dog."
I fully recognize that these are very trivial problems in the grand scheme of things, and that we are fortunate to have parents willing and ready to support us. That said, I am not sure how to proceed. My mom is, and always has been, emotionally immature in a lot of ways, but I never imagined she would be so difficult at such an important time. What worries me is not so much the substance of these disagreements, but her inability to put my needs above her own in the tender weeks after I give birth. I am not sure whether to cave and let her bring her dog (maybe she's right, and it will be fine!), or to hold firm, even if it means she and my dad don't come. I worry that asking them not to come will draw a line in the sand that will be difficult to come back from. At the same time, it feels like they are choosing their dog over their daughter and grandchild, which I find extremely hurtful. Part of me senses that this actually has nothing to do with the dog, or the night nurse, and is more about her own control issues.
What should I do?

I'm 33, and my partner is 30. I moved from Arizona to Mexico some time ago. I had my son in Arizona, and he's now 14. I met my partner almost 9 years ago here in Mexico, and he's been a great support for me and my son. I'm incredibly grateful for him embracing us as his family despite the challenges we faced with his own family's insults. He's been a wonderful father figure. Since we started our life together, I've been the primary breadwinner and have bought almost everything we own. While he pays the rent and was helping with food expenses until recently, I've felt that our financial responsibilities have been uneven. I recently suggested to him that we may need to physically separate, with him moving back to his parents' house, so we can reassess our situation and each focus on our individual financial stability.
This suggestion stemmed from my desire for him to step up as a provider, as we had agreed upon from the beginning of our relationship. For instance, although I've been paying the car bills, we purchased the car with the understanding that he would contribute equally to rent, which hasn't happened consistently. He also asked for a phone line under my name due to credit issues, with the agreement that he would manage his own bill, but he's fallen short on payments.
He reacted strongly to the idea of separation, expressing his commitment to working harder. However, this is a conversation we've had repeatedly over the years without much progress. I assured him that I would consider reuniting once he achieves better financial stability.
Am I wrong for wanting a better life for us and taking these steps?

I have been going slowly and steadily, and last week I took the next big step and cut exercise out of my life until I am weight restored. my brain used to scream at me every day. but what I've realized is that the more you stick with recovery, the quieter and more short-lived it becomes. when your brain has adequate nutrition, you can logically rethink your fears and anxiety. you can go about your day not thinking of food all the time. it's such a nice feeling. I'm just proud of myself, I guess. I feel so much better, there's still a lot of work to be done but im up for the challenge.
if you're looking for a sign to recover, this is it. if you're looking for permission, this is it. it doesn't matter your weight or your eating habits or "oh I'm not sick enough". "sick" doesn't matter. the bottom line is that you deserve a life free from the fear of food.

First time Reddit poster. Started watching in 1998 and wound down in 2011.
I read/hear a lot about how Shawn Michaels/HHH pulled a last minute swerve for Shawn to win the European Championship over The British Bulldog at the 1997 One Night Only PPV. The detractors say that although Shawn's excuse was that he was doing it for "heat" and to make the title mean something, he didn't really do much with it and treated it as an afterthought joke. The D-X vs Hart Foundation feud happened a little bit before I started tuning in, but over the last 10-15 years, especially with more "shoot" interviews available, books/articles published, etc. it's possible the narrative of what happened at One Night Only is a mischaracterization of Shawn Michaels.
What We Know: In 1997, The British Bulldog aka Davey Boy Smith -- a member of the heel stable, The Hart Foundation -- is the European Champion and is always expected to "go over" whenever the WWE travels to Europe. 9/20/97 is the One Night Only PPV, in Birmingham, England.
What has been said by a few sources: Up till the day of the show, Davey was under the assumption that he was not going to lose the title to Shawn Michaels, since England is obviously within Europe. What made this event extra special is that there had been a plan for him to be escorted to the ring by his sister who was sadly stricken with a terminal illness. There would've then been cheers all around for this valiant hero and the 11,000 fans would then be sent home happy with a feel-good story.
Here is where things get murky: The same sources state that Shawn and HHH decided to pull a fast one on Vince McMahon an hour or so before it was show time. The two demanded that Shawn beat Davey for the European Championship. Has Shawn or HHH ever independantly admitted that it was in that short of a turnaround and that the two went behind Davey's back? Even Jim Ross says that Davey was with Shawn and HHH when the idea to change the finish was pitched and blames Davey for not "protecting himself." That means Davey agreed and was not forced. As mentioned earlier, the excuse that has been used is that Shawn felt that it would be a great way to draw "heat" since there was very much a pro-Davey crowd watching and so the return match in the Spring of 1998 (when they headed back to not just the UK, but this time in Manchester which was The Bulldog's billed hometown) would have a massive redemption arc which would be that much greater for the fans. In the meantime, Shawn would have good matches and elevate the European Championship, something, quite frankly, he was better at than Davey. It ties into the reasoning that has been given in that Shawn (arguably being at the peak of his ability), would be able to make that title mean something (like what he did for the Intercontinental Championship).
However, because of the backstage Kliq stories which continue to come out, the manner in which Shawn later dropped the European Championship, and the fact that there really was no return match for Shawn vs. Davey since both were out of the WWE by then, many fans have pointed to this PPV as an "obvious" example of the weight Shawn and HHH carried backstage. In recent shoot interviews, Bret Hart (who would leave the WWF six weeks later in spectacular fashion) has said this match was simply a way to make Davey and the rest of the Harts look foolish.
What you can't deny is the heat in the arena, after the match, was white-hot.
Okay with that background established, let's look to see why I feel that what happened at the One Night Only PPV is a mischaracterization of Shawn Michaels:

• The Hart narrative.
  • It's hard to put a lot of stock into "he said, she said," but in case you want to take it as gospel...in Page 256 of Shawn's book (yeah, yeah, I know) Heartbreak & Triumph, he details that Davey was on board with the plans -- with no mentions of if it was pitched an hour before or days earlier. If fans are ready to believe Bret, why can't they leave wiggle room for Shawn?
    • While Shawn certainly has excuses (and apologized) for his sophomoric hijinx and makes himself sound like a creative genius, Bret has consistently come off as two things: 1) Making himself look heroic 2) Making himself look like he's had a perpetual gloomy cloud over him at every stage of life. His book, My Real Life in the Cartoon World of Wrestling, briefly mentions this match and some nonsense of how he "saw the light die in Davey's eyes that day, darkness seeping into a heart that was giving out."
  • Bret points to how Davey told everyone he expected to win, promised everyone that he was going to win the match for his English fans and especially his sister...as proof that Shawn swerved plans at the last minute just to needle the Harts ("It was designed to make us all look stupid." -- Inside The Ropes ).
    • What? There's literally thousands of instances where wrestlers lose in their hometown and use real life to push stories. And finishes change all the time. The new storyline made long term sense and Vince/Creative agreed. It could have been great, but no one expected Bulldog to quit six weeks later because of the Screwjob. No one expected Shawn's back injury to happen a couple months after that.
  • Diana Hart Smith (Davey's wife and Bret/Owen's sister) in 2012 said, regarding the changed finish, you "have to do what you're told." However, she is not credible, by Bret's own words, stemming from his reaction to a largely fictional biography on the Hart Family, written by Diana (Under the Mat).
• Davey was still booked to look strong, despite losing.
  • The RAW before the event, Davey had his knee "injured" from chair shots by HBK/HHH. And yet Davey still didn't "quit" when locked into the Figure Four at the PPV (even with HBK getting help from all the members of D-X). The match was stopped, akin to Stone Cold vs Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13. Diana Hart Smith even got involved in the post match antics with Chyna.
  • I don't believe, for a moment, the Hart family -- especially Bret -- didn't fully agree to how it all precisely happened especially when you're getting non-wrestlers involved inside the ring. If they wanted to change it, they could've.
    • There's been no mention from Bret about going to bat for Davey and them getting rejected.
• Bret Hart and the Hart Foundation still had a lot of backstage influence.
  • This wasn't Savio Vega or Dean Douglas eating an unnecessary pin. There is an established history of the Harts wanting to do things their way. Bret was World Champion and by far the highest paid wrestler on the roster so although Shawn had stroke, Bret certainly did too. And Davey had been with the company and had success far longer than Shawn (though in interrupted stages). DQ/Countout results are a common occurrence for situations where two powerful wrestlers/factions don't want to "job" to one another. In fact, the 10/6/97 RAW had Bret changing a finish where he was supposed to eat a pin from HHH (via HBK interference) into a Countout.
  • Yes, certainly, maturity was something Shawn and HHH lacked but you have to remember that unlike the Harts, they were not nepo-babies raised in the industry. And they were much younger (Shawn is 8 years younger than Bret whereas HHH is 12 years younger). Even Davey could be considered a nepo-baby since Dynamite Kid was his first cousin and he debuted in the WWF largely because Stu Hart cut a deal to include his son-in-law.
• Bret's possible thought process
  • My opinion (yes, speculation) is that Bret knew he was out the door and so he didn't care too much about what happened to Davey's European Championship since he had his own issues he was dealing with, regarding WCW contracts, Wrestling with Shadows, and dropping the World Championship. He mentioned how stressful all that was. What is fact though is that Davey wasn't someone Bret held in high regard. From talking about him not being able to construct matches, to being under the influence, to personal life issues, to even forcing Davey to cut his long braided hair because according to Davey's family, Bret said it was starting to look too much like his (even though it wasn't the same type nor color).
  • I also feel that with everything that happened between that period, and to Brian Pillman, Owen, and Davey dying very young, it understandably left an awful taste in their mouths. It all gets magnified a bit. Then add that Bret's time with WCW wasn't really anything extraordinary (for his standard), and his constant reminding us of how Goldberg ended his career makes me believe that there still is a grudge with HBK/HHH which will never truly go away. And unlike Shawn who seemingly has moved on, Bret hasn't. Which is why he keeps establishing the narrative that the Hart Foundation was always in the right and the D-X was always in the wrong.
• Finances
  • 1997, the WWF was in peril. House shows and merchandise were selling, but PPVs were not. Having a swerve on a PPV makes the next one "must see TV" (again, this was a world before streaming). In this instance, the next time they came to England. Nitro was still beating RAW.
• Storyline
  • Shawn had only recently turned heel (after SummerSlam, a month earlier). The plan was established from back then to have a heel Shawn face Austin at WrestleMania XIV. This was an era where there really was only one major show per week (and some on tape delay) and most fans did not have internet access at home, so establishing quick, obvious heat was important. What better way than to "screw" Davey in front of his fans and family? Beating Davey in the USA wasn't going to do it because, remember, Davey was a heel in the USA. 9/29/97 (two days later) Davey faced Vader in New York. Vader was about to beat him clean and then the Harts stormed in and used weapons on Vader, resulting in a DQ.
    • If not beat Davey, a former Intercontinental Champion, then who? The talent roster was quite thin and a memorable Undertaker program was upcoming. Also, Shawn had not had a singles belt since Feb 1997. Nevertheless, the ratings jumped towards the end of 1997.
• Defending the European Championship
  • How many of you remember Davey ever defending the European Championship on RAW or a PPV? From the moment he won it on 2/26/97, over the next seven months, he defended it only four times on non-house shows. Even if you include house shows, the vast majority of the defenses were in the USA so it was hardly a Europe-only belt. All the four RAW or PPV matches ended in DQ/Countout type finishes. I'll be honest, I haven't watched every single one of those matches but I do see that he beat HHH via pinfall, as one of his first defenses on 2/28/97. Davey regained the belt on 10/26/99 after he came back, but lost it six weeks later on 12/12/99 as he started spiraling, defending it only a handful of times on TV.
  • Shawn, unlike Davey, really could make that belt mean something so I do believe the Manchester return match in the Spring of 1998, after he dropped the World title to Austin, would've been big (not unlike Hart vs Bulldog at SummerSlam 1992). Even his most ardent haters will admit to HBK's talent. Yes, he dropped it to HHH in a comedic fashion on 12/11/97 but what was the alternative? With Bret leaving/gone and Shawn in a program with The Undertaker (who didn't need the European Championship since he was about to face Kane), as a World Champion (earlier than he thought he was going to be -- Screwjob plans were hatched later than Sept) him randomly losing the European title would've made him look bad even if it was lost in an underhanded fashion. Losing it to Owen could've been a possibility but Owen would win the Intercontinental Championship on 10/5/97 so that wouldn't really make sense neither. That said, the two of them faced one another on 10/20/97 in a title for title clash (No Contest). Owen later beat HHH for the European title on 2/26/98 (and then lost it back) and the two later had a WrestleMania XIV match for it. So dropping it to HHH made sense. Look at the roster back then and tell me who an alternative could have been?
  • Shawn gets a lot of heat for not defending the European title as often as some feel he should have. But as of 9/20/97, the WWE didn't know what Bret was going to do. Shawn infamously won the World Championship on 11/9/97. I'm not going to rehash the backstage Montreal play-by-play but I firmly believe that if Bret stayed with the WWE for a bit longer, Shawn would have had more time to have matches for the European title. The problem is everything happened so quickly. Unlike Davey, it's not like Shawn spent seven months as European Champion and defended it only four times on TV. Shawn did defend it three times on TV but in 2 1/2 months including an epic with Shamrock on RAW on 11/3/97, before he won the World title from Bret. Between a program with The Undertaker, leading D-X, and becoming World Champion sooner than he expected, there was no time (or really justification) to defend the European title even more often, when he had a program with Austin coming (in arguably the biggest title change in history).

TL:DR Even if (big, if) the finish was changed an hour before showtime, Davey agreed to the finish (with what I believe is with the Hart family on board -- but seeing how it all played out over the next few months and years left a bad taste and narrative change). Shawn winning the European Championship was what was best for business. Therefore Shawn flexing his backstage power "just because" or "only to hate on the Harts" makes zero sense.

Hey, I'll try to keep this short: I (23M) met a girl (23F) on Hinge around 3 weeks ago. We've been on 4 dates, and I think they've been mutually good times on all 4 occasions. We are both moving come August and are looking for something along the lines of a summer fling.
On Tuesday she came over to my apartment and we got takeout sushi, watched TV, and shared a bottle of wine (this was her idea, but it was after her rescheduling two times prior). We had sex for the first time that night -- it was good. However, she is not on birth control, so I used a condom and finished inside, but after we stopped, I realized that the condom broke. I offered to pay for the Plan B and frankly she was much more calm about it than I was (life goes on, I'll get it tomorrow, we'll be fine). We hung out for an hour or two after the sex and just chatted about random shit. Before she left, I told her that I would like for her to initiate our next plans because I felt that I had been probing her to hang out for our first four dates, even though I could tell she was having a good time when we were together. She assured me that she really likes seeing me but also told me that she is really bad at initiating plans with people she's not extremely comfortable with. I told her I can empathize with that but I would still appreciate her reaching out to me to schedule something. Fast forward, she left my apartment, kissed me, and said "I'm going to text you, but try not to overthink things in the meantime" (lol).
Wednesday morning I texted her to ask if she had gotten the Plan B and how much it costed -- she got back an hour later saying that she was running late to work so she'd have to get it after work, and she'd let me know how much it costed. Fast forward to 8PM, I haven't heard from her, so I reached out again - she got back to me shortly after saying that she had gotten it, taken it, it was $40 and that I didn't have to worry. This is where I may have fucked up, but it could be something else entirely: I thanked her again for picking up and taking the Plan B, since I know it's an uncomfortable experience. Then, I asked her if she could let me know whenever she gets her period and/or takes a pregnancy test because I'm an anxious person, even though obviously I'm not the one who can get pregnant (I used those words exactly). She then gave me her most curt response yet - one message, just her Venmo username. I got the feeling that something put her off, so I liked her message, and sent her $40 without responding. She then double-texted me "Thank you so much", to which I responded "Of course, thank you again. I know it can be a really unpleasant experience so if I can bring you food or anything like that please let me know". She hasn't acknowledged or responded to that message. I know it hasn't even been 24 hours yet but there is definitely a shift in pace/tone and I'm not sure how to approach it.
Last weekend she had mentioned going to an event this weekend together. I think I will give her space for the day and reach out tomorrow afternoon if I haven't heard back yet. Unless this reads to you all as her being uninterested / done with the situation? Looking for insight, thanks.

Been noticing that some of my shorts have just the worst audio quality after uploading, but, sound fine on my end. Did some adjusting to the videos such as bringing the audio levels down, noise reduction, even brining them up to see how bad they can get. Turns out, thus issue was caused by YouTube's "Add Audio" feature. That for some reason, completely makes the original audio become unlistenable. Easy enough to work around by adding sound library audio to the edit but gawdamn.
Couldn't find any answers on why this was happening anywhere so I figured I would share this with the community in case anyone was dealing with the same issue.

Hello friends! I am fairly new to Sanderson - I picked up The Way of Kings two years ago on a whim (literally because I liked the cover and the summary, I had zero clue who Sanderson even was.) I was shocked to find that it quickly turned out to be one of my favorite fantasy books that I've ever read. I was so eager to continue, but then learned that the series is not complete and decided to wait and revisit it later.
Sometime after that, I entered a massive reading slump where I struggled to get through anything. I was just having a hard time enjoying anything that I picked up and having a slightly rough time in life in general.
A few weeks ago, I stopped in the bookstore to waste time between errands and a pretty cover drew my eye - Tress of the Emerald Sea. I was absolutely delighted when I realized it just happened to be Sanderson, and ALSO just happened to be a short standalone novel. It came home with me.
I breezed through it and enjoyed it immensely, and this book has singlehandedly renewed my desire to read. I just honestly wanted to post a little appreciation for it, because I desperately needed the experience of reading exactly this sort of thing at this point in my life. An uplifting, adventurous but also unconventional tale set in a beautiful fantasy world, but one that doesn't take itself too seriously. Nothing sad, nothing difficult - just pure fairytale meets pirates of the Caribbean sort of enjoyment. I spent half of this story just grinning ear to ear at the story, the characters, and Sanderson's unique humor and prose.
If you haven't given this book a read yet, do it. It is very much worth it. If you haven't dipped your toes into Sanderson yet and are contemplating it, I found this a great, easy, low-commitment place to start. I'm a picky, judgemental reader most of the time, and I rarely find myself so impressed with a story that I take time out of my day to sing it's praises. This one really stood out to me, and I felt it was my duty to give it the credit it deserves.
TLDR: Tress of the Emerald Sea is a fun, unconventional story that pulled me out of a year-long reading slump.

So I was doing what all cool guys do on a Wednesday night: scrolling through the minor league rosters and stats to see how the first month and a half went. I knew how stacked Single-A Modesto is this year and wanted to check out their pitching, because despite not having many standout names, their pitching has been surprisingly dominant. That's when I learned about my new favorite prospect:
Will Schomberg
Here's the boring basic stuff:
Schomberg is a pitcher; a righty who has been a rock in Modesto's starting rotation this season. He's a bit undersized for a starter at 5'10", and based solely on the occasional highlight videos on MiLB.com, he's a fastball-slider guy. He doesn't appear on any top prospect lists, but he's off to a better start than just about any other starter in the farm system.
Now for the cool stuff:
Schomberg was an undrafted free agent last season. It's pretty common to talk about undrafted guys in the NFL as relevant pieces, but pretty rare in baseball with its 20-round amateur draft. Schomberg was a serviceable reliever at Davidson until his senior year, where he broke out as a starter. He became the team's ace with 13 starts, a 3.97 ERA (4th in the conference), and put up the second-highest career K/9 in Davidson's history at 10.15. He earned a spot on the Atlantic 10 First team.
Despite that, he fell through all 20 rounds in 2023's amateur draft and signed with the Mariners as an undrafted free agent. He appeared in 3 unremarkable games at rookie ball in 2023, but was put in a rotation spot at Modesto the start this season.
Schomberg has taken that opportunity and has made the most of it so far. In 34 innings over 7 starts, he's put up a 2.12 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 3.19 FIP, 41 strikeouts to 15 walks, and an opponent's BA of just .161. Earlier this month, he won our Minor League Pitcher of the Week honors, after throwing a 6 inning, 0 runs, 1 BB, 10 strikeout game.
He's probably on his way to winning the pitcher of the month, too. His stat line in May looks like this: 3 GS, 16 IP, 0 ER, 5 H, 2 BB, 21 SO.
He is absolutely shoving at Single-A. At 23 years old, it won't be long before he's promoted to Everett. Even though he's a bit older than his competition, it's super impressive for an undrafted guy to be dominating like this. He'll probably never be on those top prospect lists because of his age, but I don't care. Schomberg has been one of the coolest stories to come out of the first part of this season.

I appreciate that engaging in conspiracy theories can be fun, feel like a moral obligation and all consuming but I think its important to use critical thinking to avoid falling down rabbit holes which are harmful to yourself or others.
There is a severe lack of evidence for a lot of these theory's that people have come up with. If you are not even willing to accept that there is a possibility that drake is not engaged in child prostitution rings, having sex with dogs etc. you are no longer engaging in critical thinking and you are mentally in a state where your confirmation bias is clouding your judgement. Once your mind is in this state, it is very easy for bad actors to use your warped perspective to control your thoughts and actions. I recommend reading up on the biases which lead to conspiratory thought and cult like behavior.

If you find yourself thinking "Its just too many coincidences" about any theory, you more than likely wrong. The human brain is very good at finding patterns, its literally its primary function aside from keeping you alive. There are many conflicting conspiracy theories which all use this line as "proof" but its not. If you find yourself being sucked into theories with this, please reconsider
Looking at actual verifiable facts:

• Drake has a history of some shaky actions with young women and paying large settlement fees in sexual harassment cases. He also is around people who are involved in sex trafficking.
• EbonyPrince ended up with the items on the MTG cover through his security job and is angry at drake for saying the items were stolen as they cannot resell them.

Everything else EbonyPrince is alluding to is unconfirmed, they have not posted any evidence of anything and they have been upfront in having ulterior motives.
Alternative theory:
Drake is actually fighting a paedophile ring from the inside out, he's an undercover agent for Canada as the police are compromised, hence why he changed his persona to get a deeper inside track on diddy. All the dogs are the people he's locking up in "the pound"
Obviously not real but the point being anyone can make shit up and I am sure their is plenty of coincidences in drakes lyrics surrounding my totally bullshit theory
Also consider the following theory which is based on facts.
Ebony prince is making a scene because they cant get their money and see the internet frenzy around the beef, decide to post a load of random cryptic seemingly implicating stuff to drive up the price. Might be wrong and I would be willing to accept that given evidence but if you choose to believe him without any evidence you need to stop and think.
I get that people have valid concerns about predators, but please take my advice and do not ruin your brain with this stuff, watch out for clout chasers who see you as an easy lick and take advantage of genuine concern. Wait for hard evidence of things before believing them and don't get stuck draining dopamine on this stuff. Do not harass people not matter how sure you are they are involved in something.

So this was a build I recently played on Tactician that I found pretty fun. It's probably not as min-maxed as it could be, but I went with 4 warlocks.
My Tav was 8 Pact of the Tome GOOlock/4 Lore bard for Guidance, Haste, Song of Rest, expertise, Jack of All Trades, 3rd feat, etc. My remaining 3 companions (Wyll, Karlach, Lae'zel) were all 12 Pact of the Blade Fiendlocks wearing arcane acuity gear.
I won't go too deep into everything I did for the build, but basically:

• Karlach has the Helldusk Gloves, Band of the Mystic Scoundrel, and the Hat of Fire Acuity (Act 2 was Flawed Helldusk Gloves)
• Lae'zel has Nyrulna and Hat of Storm Scion's Power (Act 2 was Soulbreaker Greatsword and thunder added via Drakethroat Glaive)
• Wyll has the Helm of Arcane Acuity, Risky Ring, and the Justiciar's Scimitar.
• Tav has Coruscation Ring and Callous Glow Ring to stack radiating orb

Tav drops Hunger of Hadar (with Alert, Tav is always going first), enemies try to get out of the cloud. Some make it out, others get to the edge of the cloud. Companions (all have Devil's Sight) run into the cloud, hit enemies with advantage since they're all blinded, build stacks of arcane acuity, then run out of the cloud with remaining movement. Karlach can use her bonus action to cast a control spell. Wyll almost always blinds enemies that make it out of HoH since he attacks with advantage with the Risky Ring and Justiciar's Scimitar. Next turn, Tav EBs enemies back into the HoH cloud, stacks radiating orb, and picks off stragglers via Cull The Weak. Any big enemies that are still alive can get hit with Hold Person, Hold Monster, Command, Banish etc now that I have fairly high stacks of arcane acuity. Also, enemies tend to be clumped up in the HoH cloud, so Fireball and Flame Strike work really well here. Then I short rest and get all 3 (2 for Tav) of my spell slots back!
