2024.05.15 02:19 DeepfriedPompano Cancelled The Authority for JDM Reel (Shimano Twin Power 21)

Just found out about Digitaka and oh my days. Changed my life. Just saved a good amount of money.
I was looking into buying a mid/high end reel, originally was going to buy the Penn Authority for sale @ $417 but I have always been a Shimano boy and always loved the JDM car scene, it only felt right to follow my heart with a JDM reel.
Purchased the Twin Power 6000HG for $360 on Digitaka, it would have been $386? on Japan Lure Shop, and $413 on Amazon U.S. It would have been $580+ at Bass Pro Shops.
Anyway, is there any differences between the USDM Twin Power VS JDM Twin Power??? They both seem to be made in Japan, could there really be any difference?
Thank you whoever for putting this site on the map for the rest of us, bless your soul and tight lines.

2024.05.15 02:12 lanesmarine Can’t decide between CX-5 & CX-50

Title says it all. I found a dealership willing to sell me a CPO 2023 CX-5 Premium with 20k miles for $28,000, and a different dealership with a 2024 CX-50 Premium with 10k miles for $32,500.
To be honest, I like the CX-50 more in terms of how it drives (feels more like a car) and how it looks, but $4500 is not insignificant to me. The dealership with the CX-50 also tried to tack on an extra $6,000 in fees and the salesman was very hostile about removing them, although they ultimately did. I kind of don’t want to give them business for how unpleasant they have been to deal with, but the price is hard to ignore.
I’m not sure if this is true or not, but I fought them to have a “”certification fee”” as part of the extra $6,000 removed, and they claim the car will no longer be certified or will they recondition the car for sale or give it an emissions test or other things. Sounds like a load of crap to me, but would appreciate any insight.
On the other hand, the price on the CX-5 is also competitive, and a long standing, proven car versus the 2 year old CX-50. Gas mileage is also slightly better, and the interior also looks better IMO. However, this car is a 2023 and with 10k extra miles.
I need to buy a car tomorrow, and I think I am leaning toward the CX-5, but any advice? It’s my first time buying a car at a dealership. TIA!

2024.05.15 01:56 Pretend-Butterfly-87 I hate that I feel guilty about needing to file for FMLA leave.

Okay, so I’m kind of in the middle of a mental breakdown. In fact, I have been under intense stress for quite some time, and it’s really catching up to me.
As far as my work life, I work a stressful sales and marketing job. I’m about 8 years into sales, and I am definitely getting towards the end of my stamina in being able to do this…which I truly never should have been here, but I just kind of fell into it (I got a BS in psychology in 2016, and wanted to do something with mental health/social work. Everyone my parents age talked me out of it, ie, ‘you won’t make enough money,’ etc.). I’ve decided to go back to school this coming winter to get a MSW, and it’s LONG overdue. I have a career coach who told me she doesn’t know how me, an INFP, has lasted in sales so long, not to mention how I’ve performed so well. But thinking about doing this sales job for another year, let alone the rest of my life, makes me feel nauseous.
As far as personal life, basically, what ISN’T going on? My dog, who was my rock and my best friend, died gruesomely and unexpectedly in January. My car has broken down 3 times in the last 3 months. My grandpa also died late last month, and I haven’t been able to see him in 5 years due to family drama. I’m coming off a really shitty financial year of 2022-23, where I had to quickly quit another stressful sales job, and ended up racking up $10K in credit card debt, while working dead end jobs to try to survive/pay bills (I’m finally almost done paying it off). Essentially, I ended up making almost $100K/year but absolutely hating my life, to only $30K, and still hating my life. Not to mention, I’m 6 years deep into a medical FTM transition, and my closest family still continues to purposefully misgender and disrespect me. To say I’m stressed, and I have been for quite some time, is an understatement. If it weren’t for my amazing girlfriend, idk if I’d have the strength to still be here.
Normally, I’m able compartmentalize both Work and Personal life, but lately they’re bleeding in together…and it’s getting worse. I’m barely getting any sleep, and when I do, I have disturbing nightmares. I physically cannot get out of bed until 8 am, and I’m barely a functioning adult until 11 am or Noon. I have almost zero appetite unless it’s the occasional Taco Bell or McDonald’s splurge, which isn’t good for body, or wallet. My TMJ is so bad that I sometimes can barely move my jaw. My heart rate is consistently about 105-110 BPM when I’m resting. I honestly feel like I could snap on the next person who looks at me funny, which isn’t like me - I’m NOT a confrontational person.
I go to weekly therapy. My therapist told me that I should apply for FMLA. However, part of me feels so bad for doing it, as my boss is so overwhelmed. She also has a shitshow between work and personal life, and I hate to think adding more to her plate, especially with how good she’s been to me. She knows everything that has been going on with me and is very supportive. My therapist said that while he knows how I feel, that I can’t keep going on the way I have.
I have been diligently meditating and working on my emotional regulation since COVID, and I’ve deleted most social media, and it’s definitely helped. But this is a stress load that I need something more. I feel like if I could just have 1-1.5 months of not having to worry about work, and just resting and being able to catch up on personal shit that has been piling up, I can get back to some sort of ‘baseline’ where I can be a functioning adult again. I honestly feel like if I keep going down this path, I could have a stroke, and even that I’m overall shortening my lifespan.
Idk why I’m posting this. Maybe I just need some reassurance that it’s going to be okay, and that I’m not a bad person for taking care of myself. Help??

2024.05.15 01:53 BBPinkman For the love of god avoid the tire center

The wife and I went in today. First they said the tires weren't in even though we had an appointment and I confirmed the tires had been delivered to the center. The guy at the counter said do you see your tires here while standing in front of about a thousand stacked tires. I thought he was joking and said I don't know how to find them I thought you would lol. The wife is starting to get pissed and the guy walks away.
Another guy walks up and says what seems to be the problem. I figured he was the manager. I told him about my appointment he says you just ordered these you have to wait for them to be shipped in. I chime in I ordered them two weeks ago and have confirmation they have been delivered and my appointment. Turns out he was just looking at today's date on the top left of him computer screen. I know this because he asked me behind the counter to show me what he can see.
Anyway he said he will go check for me. then the first guy walks back up and says you have to set up an appointment if you want service. My wife gets more pissed and Im starting to find this all kind of funny. She decided to go shop and leave me to the sales people. I tell him the other guy is going to look for them. He says Ill go find them.
The other guy comes back and tells me he found the tires then disappeared. The other guy then comes back with a huge attitude and said I told you you have make an appointment if you want service you standing there wont do anything. I tell him the other guy found them. He tells me no he didn't he would have seen them. He then disappears.
Then a customer came in furios they lost his lug nut key. I forget whats its called but he was so angry I just let the sales people deal with this guy. The sales people were saying we will call you if we find it. He was demanding they look for it now because he didn't want to leave without it. This guy was pissed. I stared to feel bad for the tire sales people.
Eventually the angry customer storms out. The guy who found my tires tells me to go park in the spot they pick the car up. So I start to walk towards the door and the other guy comes out and tells me again I need to set up an appointment. I tell him Im bringing my car around right now the other guy found them. He tells me NO he didn't. lol. I ask him to go talk to the other guy and give me a answer if they have my tires or not.
He leaves and comes back 10 minutes later and asks why I haven't moved my car to the service parking. I tell him because you just told me several times you don't have my tires the other guy has told me several times you do have them. I don't know who to belive.
He says you listen to ME I'm the only one who knows whats going on here. This is the same guy who told me three times he did not have the tires and I did not have an appointment. I'm just kind of dumbfounded and move my car.
I ask him about how long and he said were doing it right now so it shouldn't be long... Three hours later I get the call they are finished. I don't know if you have ever spent three hours in a Costco but its not fun.
Anyway for the love of god stay away from the costco tire center.

2024.05.15 01:51 HiepNotik Need Opinion on Which is a better deal? (looking to buy)

I’m currently shopping for a Nissan GT-R (2017+), my brother has a 2017 dark blue and I love the newer facelift. There is 2 of them around me for sale and 1 in Washington which is about a 14hr drive. I currently have 50k as down payment, If I can wait until July I’ll have 65k. Cedit score is 787, business owner and currently only have 1 credit card debt of 2k (no big deal), I currently drive a 2014 Lexus GS350 paid off.
All three GTR’s are stock and from Nissan Dealers. Will finance with credit union unless dealer can match or beat interest rates. I just need Opinion on which is the best deal, Where else better to ask then a bunch of GTR owners.
1st car is 2021 $114k with 23k miles, No Accidents, 2 owner, Maintenance is up to date
2nd car is Also 2021 $108k with 25k miles, No Accidents, 1 owner, but was used as a “work Fleet Vehicle” (no wonder its so cheap?)
3rd is in Washington 2018 $98k with 41k miles, no Accidents, 4 owners, maintenance is up to date.
Extra Questions: do you think price will continue to go down, or will it go up because of discontinue of R35?
Thanks! Will post pics when I buy my car.

2024.05.15 01:39 StPapaNoel Personally I think the future is pretty damn bright!

It kind of seems like every year we see a period of "Electric Vehicles are DONE!", "Electric Vehicles are not selling!", etc. etc. ad nauseam.
After every year finishes I check the actual numbers when it comes to Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV), Conventional Hybrids, Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), etc. etc.
Guess what...
They are always up lol
Yes interest rates are high right now.
Yes although the economy is doing good there is a general feeling amongst regular folks and families that there is still a massive Affordability of life crisis and so they may be holding back from big purchases.
Yes some people are holding back till standards like NACS, apartment/work charging sites, and so forth come into place.
All that being said Electric Vehicles are going to keep increasing and increasing in market share. The GROWTH has slowed down. There is still growth.. Year after year.
Now for the future:
  1. Rivian R2, R3, R3X (In particular Rivian R3)
  2. Chevrolet Bolt EV on the Ultium platform
  3. Volvo EX30
(Rumored Hyundai IONIQ 2, Here and there Tesla Model 2 that is either its own platform and unboxed model and or a simplified Tesla Model 3 or Model Y (No one really knows lol), Rumored Ford Compact Crossover, etc.)
https://www.caranddriver.com/news/g29994375/future-electric-cars-trucks/
These and others are going to lead to a lot more sales and growth going forward.
The technology, engineering, and software are going to keep improving and improving just like they always do.
We will keep seeing a better charging infrastructure in both quality and vastness.
We will keep seeing batteries improve in quality/life/range/weight.
We will continue to see prices improve with scalability.
Frankly all this doomsday and apocalyptic talk and headlines is just noise.

2024.05.15 01:38 CaliChy805 Can I sue a car dealership for lying about prior accidents on a car I bought?

TL;DR: I bought a Certified pre-owned car from the dealership about 1 year ago, Dealer assured me it was in perfect conditions with no prior accidents, but I later discovered issues suggesting prior accidents. In February 2024, found a crack in the metal frame, leading to water leakage. Dealership wouldn’t help, insurance claim denied. Collision specialist confirmed signs of a major accident and advised legal action against the dealership for misrepresentation or fraud.
-------
(Illinois resident) I purchased a 2021 Toyota Certified pre-owned car from a Toyota dealership in January 2023. Despite buying it on a snowy day and conducting a once-over inspection with the sales rep, I didn't notice any major damage. The Carfax was clean as well and the rep assured us that there were no prior accidents. We went through with the sale and I have enjoyed the car over the past year.
Over the past year the car seemed fine, but I did notice some issues with the door spacings on the front passenger side and problems with the trunk door, hinting at potential prior accidents. Not a big deal overall, the car was driving/performing fine.
But in February 2024, while installing a subwoofer, I found a large puddle of water beneath the trunk lining. I took it to the dealership and they discovered a crack in the metal frame above the trunk, under the rear windshield that was causing the leak. After inspecting the vehicle more they determined that this was from an accident, which I have not had with this car. Unfortunately, since the warranty had expired, they couldn't/wouldn’t help me further, so I left.
Next I took it to a collision specialist. They pointed out several signs of a major accident and shoddy repair work, likely done unofficially, which would explain the clean Carfax. They suggested suing the dealership for misrepresentation or fraud, emphasizing that any competent sales rep or mechanic should have noticed the prior damage, especially for a Toyota Certified pre-owned vehicle.
I haven't reached out the dealership yet, but I did find pictures of the car on the date of sale, where you can (vaguely) notice the spacing issues of the front door which generally is a hint of prior damage.

Do I have any legal advantage here?

2024.05.15 01:34 tommygunz007 Struggling with some social media addiction and looking for ways to correct it.

I feel like something is missing.
I know 99% of it is actually talking to others and getting a sense of their lives and wants and needs, something I currently haven't done because of my low-paying job as a flight attendant. I used to work at Restaurants and felt more connected to the world and society.
Social Media to me feels like.. picking up a Vogue Magazine. It's very limited in scope. I see hot models. I see ads for cologne and clothing. I see fancy cars and photos of travel destinations. That's like 99% of my Instagram right now - Vogue Magazine.
When I walk outside my home, the jobs I can physically see are those shitty ones. Barista, McDonalds, Wal-Mart. Those aren't the jobs to get, those aren't the jobs that will pay you enough to live.
I feel as though the real world, is somehow hiding from me (a direct result of my FA airline job I am certain).
The real world for me, is sitting at a bar having a beer with a microbiologist who is discussing the breakthroughs of addiction as it relates to Ozempic and how they are leading a team of junior researchers to find out why Ozempic and gut science have also shown reductions in non-food-related addictions also.
The real world for me, is having a discussion with the sales guy who deals with rhodium and palladium for pace makers at Boston Scientific, or maybe that QC expert at Bausch & Lomb Contact Lenz division.
Somehow I am not getting the 'right' news, the right stories, the right knowledge as to what is happening behind the scenes. I feel lost often, as though the bottom 90% of the population is now plugged into the matrix and the remaining 10% (where the good jobs and good money are) are now hidden from sight.
With inflation on the rise, like poverty, we are facing difficult times ahead. I am curious as to what areas have growth? What sectors show promise? I see AI but we are still a ways off before it actually moves society forward in a good way, vs a way to enslave and ensnare us.
SO my real question is how do you keep away from social media and get news that is in your field, in your discipline, and also in hot zones for future development? Walking through places like Rochester, New York, Main Street is Dead. Same for Utica, Geneva, Syracuse. Cities all along the upstate railway are rapidly collapsing into chaos. I am just not sure what the solution is for me, besides less social media and perhaps more magazines like Financial papers or Business Weekly.
How do you not get lost in all of this?

Hey everyone! I back again with some more funny shenanigans with our good pals Lerson and Silversmith. Thank you all for the great feedback for the last chapter, it really made my day. I'm excited to hear what you all think about this next one. Hope you all enjoy!
And again a special thanks to SpacePaladin15 for the NoP universe! __________

How did I get here? Just yesterday I was running for my life through the forest on this backwater planet and now I am sitting in the back of a vehicle with a predator, who thinks that I am some kind of hunting beast. Well… what do I do now?
The first part of my plan went off without a hitch. The simple minded predators had not realized I was not one of their slave beasts, so they released me from their holding pens. However, I am now trapped in a car right alongside my new predatory master.
Maybe I could try to take it down. It doesn’t seem particularly dexterous at least compared to the other predators I have seen. It is not looking at me now, so I would have the upper hand, but it is nearly twice my size. I will probably have to hold out for a little bit longer before I make my move.
I am suddenly pulled from my thoughts when the predator in the front seat begins to growl, “Car, can you bring me to the pet store, please?”
‘Pet Store,’ what is that? My translator says that it is a place for the sale of animals. Is it going to sell me already? Maybe I am just being sent to my new prison. My heart races as I watch the vehicle begin to slow down and come to a stop in front of the building. The elderly predator gets out of the vehicle and walks around to the door next to me. Oh no! This isn’t part of the plan. I thought I was finally out of that place, but now I am just about to get locked up again. The door opens.
“Okay bud, we’re gonna get you some things,” it said. Huh. I am not getting sold? The predator grabbed the end of the rope around my neck and beckoned me out of the vehicle. I chose to oblige and we slowly made our way towards the nearby building.
It was a small structure that looked like it was in disrepair. It makes sense that the predators would not upkeep their buildings all they care about is killing and eating. I was surprised to find that they even have buildings to begin with.
The old one pushed the door open, which produced a soft jingle as we walked in. First thing I noticed was the intense smell. It was almost overwhelming with how many different scents there were. Looking around the aisles of the shop were very narrow and the shelves were packed with different items. “Um, so the lady at the shelter suggested that I get food, bowls, a bed, and… I don’t really remember what else. That’s probably fine to begin with, we can always come back later.”
We walked down one of the narrow aisles, which had dozens of bags of ‘kibble.’ My translator says it is “ground meal shaped into pellets, especially for pet food.” That does not sound very appetizing. The predator stops and starts looking through the different options. I also start to look around. The bag nearest to me has an ingredients list. Luckily I opted for the built in visual translator. Scanning the ingredients it contains mostly different grains and other fillers, which is surprising from predator food, but it also lists ‘animal byproducts’ which sounds horrifying. I guess whatever the Terrans do not end up eating gets tossed to the lesser predators.
“Let’s get this one. It says it’s for ‘senior’ dogs. Ha! That’s something we’ve go in common”
Really?! Do I look that old to everyone? By the Tenants, maybe I need to dye my fur after I get out of this mess. We continued going around the store picking up items until we got to the counter near the front.
Speaking to the predator behind the counter my ‘master’ says, “Good afternoon Bobby. How’s everything going?”
The young predator behind the counter responds, “Not too great, Mr. Silversmith.”
“Oh. I spose that was a bad question to ask, sorry.”
“It's okay sir, there is just a lot going on. I’m glad that my parents and I are all fine, being out here in the country, but my brother works in the city and we still don’t know if he’s alright.”
“I’m sorry to hear that. I hope for the best.”
“Thank you. Now what can I do for you?”
“Oh I’m just buying some supplies for old Buddy over here,” he gestures down to me.
The clerk looks over the counter towards me, “Uh… Mr. Silversmith…” The old predator cuts him off, “I know he aint the best lookin’, but can’t say much about myself either, so I don’t need to hear it.”
“Sure… Well… let me ring that all up for you then.”
Spekh! That one has to know, right? Perhaps these predators are not as dense as I thought and the one I got is just really stupid. Well at least that helps my plan, but I will still have to be careful around other Terrans.
The old one finishes paying and we head back down to the vehicle and it drives off. After about [~34 minutes] we reach what I think is the elderly predator's den.
It is at the end of a very long dirt roadway, tucked among the trees, that I see the structure. Just like the pet shop it is a small building made out of simple materials like wood and stone. I suppose the predators really are as primitive as I thought.
The vehicle comes to a halt next to the building and the old one steps out. After he opens my door, I step out of the vehicle as well. I follow him to the entrance of the den, which is a simple wooden door painted bright red. And if I remember correctly that is the color of blood on this planet. So savage!
Upon entering, the interior looks very similar to the outside with wood adorning the walls and floors. Though I was surprised how similar the layout was to the living quarters back at the guild. The room at the entrance looked to be some kind of lounging room with a small couch and rug in the center of the room facing a screen mounted on the opposite wall. To the left of the door was what I could only assume was a kitchen with storage cabinets covering the walls.
The elderly predator returned to the car to retrieve the items it purchased at the ‘pet shop,’ which makes this the best time to do some sleuthing. I made my way past the lounge room into the depths of the den. Past the entrance room was a hallway leading further back. It was adorned with photographs filled with predatory snarls. I did my best to ignore them and worked my way further down the hall.
Up ahead there was a door and upon opening it I found a room which, by the smell of it, must be a lavatory. That really reminded me that I had to go to the bathroom. My cell did not even have a waste pit. I made my way quickly into the room and relieved myself with haste. Once I finished I thought about flushing the ‘evidence,’ but that’s when I heard the front door open again, so I was forced to hurry out of the room.
“Hey Bud! Where did you go?” it growled from the other room. I made my way back to the entrance as quickly as I could manage on all fours. “There you are. So do you like the place?” the predator asked. I did not respond and just looked towards it. “Ha ha, great!” it growled. I did not say anything?
“So I got your food and water bowls over here. Let me go fill them up. You’ve gotta be hungry.”
It walked over to the kitchen with the bowls in hand and filled one with water from the sink. The other bowl, the predator filled with the ‘kibble’ from earlier. Then it placed them both on the floor. It looks like the food situation might not be any better than my previous arrangement at the holding pen.
“Well, I spose I should eat dinner as well.”
It opened the large metal cabinet and began looking through it. I snuck a little closer to get a better look. When I approached I could feel the chill coming off of it, so I could assume that it was some kind of refrigerators unit. Must not be that primitive I suppose. After a bit of scrounging around the refrigerator, the elderly one pulled out a clear plastic container. It was green on the inside. Is it really going to eat rotten flesh!? I guess that is expected of a predator.
As it opened the container I braced my nose for the putrid smell of rotten flesh, but it never came. I watched as the predator poured out leafy greens into a bowl. Huh, a predator is eating plants?
Wait, I do remember that during the Terran’s deceptive talk at Aafa, they had said they were [all-eaters]. I guess that must be true. Watching it eat the greens is making me even hungrier than I was before.
I watched as the elderly predator finished its salad. It brought the bowl and utensils to the sink to begin washing them. I waited in the corner of the kitchen for him to finish and leave. My stomach was killing me and I could only think of the amazing taste of a crisp salad. Finally the predator finished his task and turned away from the sink. It looked towards me and then at the bowls on the floor. “Aren’t you hungry boy? You haven’t touched your food at all… I hope you’re alright. Maybe I need to take you to the vet tomorrow?”
Vet? My translator says that that means ‘animal doctor.’ Even though the average human is pretty oblivious, a doctor will be sure to realize that I’m not really a ‘dog.’ I can not let this Terran take me there. I know what I have to do, but I do not like it. I steel myself as I walk over to the bowl and stare down at its contents. Am I really going to do this? You have to! So, I lower my head and bite down on a mouthful of ‘kibble.’
It… is not that bad? I honestly expected worse.
I suppress the thoughts of the ‘animal byproducts’ in it and swallow. Immediately I wash out my mouth with the water in the second bowl. Then I turn to look at the human who is now snarling at me. I freeze. Did I do something wrong? Did it figure me out?!
“There you go. Ha ha. I was worried for a second there.”
What? Is it happy that I ate? Then why is it snarling at me? Maybe maybe that means that it is happy? These predators are so weird. At least it seems like I have avoided detection once again. Nailed it!
The old predator, having been satisfied, let out a yawn revealing all its sharp teeth… well… most of them were surprisingly quite dull. “Okay bud it's getting late, so I think it's time for me to turn in, but let me get you your bed first,” it said. Reaching into the biggest bag from the pet shop the elderly predator pulled out a round fluffy bowl. It looks similar to beds I saw when working on the Iftali and Sulean homeworld, though this one is a lot smaller. It placed the bed down in the living room next to the couch.
It paused, “Oh wait. I should probably take you outside before turning in for the night. Don’t want a mess in the morning, come on.”
I follow the predator as instructed, wondering what it wants me to do now. It leads me out a side door into a grassy area. “Okay… do your business,” it said.
What? Does it want me to do something? I just look around seeing if there's anything to give me any clues.
“I guess that didn’t work. Go potty.”
What?! Is it commanding me to defecate?! Outside! I guess he does think I am an animal. But there is no way I am doing that especially with it watching me. Why is it watching? Is it some kind of pervert? Grr, Screw the plan!
“Okay… uh… I guess come back in when you’re done,” it says as it turns to walk back to the house.
Thank the Tenants! I wait [a few minutes] and then slip back into the predator’s den. On my return it spots me, “Oh good you’re back!”
It walked over to the side door and locked it. Then the predator shuffled to wall switches and turned off most of the lights. Thankfully it left a singular lamp turned on. It is already bad enough that I am stuck in a predator's den, but being in the dark with a predator would be too much even for me.
“Okay goodnight bud, see you in the morning,” said the old one. Then right as it entered the hall it stopped and looked down at a nearby table, “Good night Ella. Good night Ben. Good night Martha.” Then it walked out of sight.
Who was he talking to? Are there other predators here? I don’t smell anyone else and I think I would have heard them earlier. Spekh! Did I get a crazy one?
Okay craziness aside, I need to eat some real food. I finally stood upright. Ah my back! It was already getting bad enough when I was back home. Hopefully I can get used to this because walking on all fours is killing me right now.
I walk over to the refrigeration unit and slowly open the doors trying to stay quiet. Looking around the inside I am surprised to find so many vegetables. However, I did spot a slab of flesh towards the back, which I did my best to ignore.
Now, I can not just eat anything, it might notice if food is missing. Scrounging around for a [minute] my eyes eventually find a plant in one of the lower drawers. It looks like a big bundle of large leaves. I take it out and pry off one of the ones on the outside. It comes off relatively easily with a crunch. Hopefully this is edible. I bring the leaf to my mouth and bite down. It makes a very satisfying crunch as a do. There really is no distinct taste, but I am so hungry that I don’t even care if it is bland.
I scarfed down the rest of the leaf quickly and then grabbed another and then another. Before I knew it, the bundle was only a third of the original size. So much for being sneaky. Finally satisfied, I returned what remained of the bundle to its proper place and closed the refrigerator doors.
After finishing my raid on the refrigerators, I thought about what the old predator had said earlier. I walked over to the table near the entrance to the hallway. There must be something interesting here. However, there was nothing but a handful of photographs. Looking at them in the dim light I was able to make out the wide snarls that adorned the faces in the photo. I guess It makes more sense now since the snarl is a ‘happy’ expression. It is still very strange to me.
The photo closest to the front had the old predator standing next to a much younger predator, which appeared to be wearing Terran military pelts. Strangely, the young one has very bright orange hair on the top of its head.
Next to that one there was a similar photo, but the old predator looked slightly younger. The other Terran in the photo looked similar to the first. They did share the same bright orange hair, but the enlarged mammaries indicated that this one was a female.
I then spotted another picture including the same female, but this time she was next to a different predator and she was holding a Terran pup, which had the same orange hair. Perhaps the female was the mother of the other one. Most of the other photos appeared to be different combinations of the same four predators: the old one, his offspring, his offspring’s mate, and then their pup.
I moved over to the other side to see if I could find anything more useful. There was a photo that stood out to me. It pictured the old one, but he looked significantly younger even more than the other photos. Standing next to him was a female, which had the same orange hair as the others. Who was this? I had not seen it in any of the other pictures.
I searched around to see if I could find any more with this female in it. Towards the back I saw two pictures next to each other. The one on the left had the female again with the old predator. Laying in a bed she was cradling a newborn pup in her arms. However, the photo on the right was the old one with the pup in its arms. The pup appeared to be a year or two older in this one, but where was the mother? Looking at the older predator I saw the look in his eyes. I know that look. Cerci…
No! They are predators! They are not like us! You know they can not think like us! It's not the same!
Grr, you are tired… just… just go rest. I walk over to the bed. I curl up and try to let sleep take me. __________
[First] [Next] __________
So much for being comedic and lighthearted. I promise that the rest of it won't be so depressing, but I wanted to add a little more substance to some of the characters. Thanks again for reading! Feel free to leave any feedback or suggestions, I really appreciate it.

2024.05.15 01:23 SnooLemons7493 99,00,01 Mustang GT in driveway

So a local neighbor has had this blue Mustang GT in their driveway ever since I was in high school. (About 10 years ago) I happened to always walk/drive by it and thought “was this abandoned?” Luckily I decided after 10 years to walk into this random driveway to look at this car. A “for sale” sign was on the back window. I called and messaged them about the their mustang.
Now this might sound too good to be true but hear me out. The car was for his nephew, but the nephew was too tall (6’4) Original owner No accidents 70-80,000 miles (from his memory) Doesn’t run because of “spark plugs, the hose and connection to the battery, flat tires and clear coat off the roof” Other than that, nothing missing, everything is OG.
The offer is $2,000, however what do I look for when I go take a look on these style mustang? Common problems? What are the solution? Should I ask lower?
TLDR: thinking about buying this mustang GT 99,00,01 (not sure which one)all original parts, sitting in this driveway. Doesn’t run because of “spark plugs, hose and connection to the battery”. It’s going for a good price, I want to fix it up. First things to fix? What are the best product for the fix? Do I ask for a lower price? Possible Money pit ($8,000 or more)?
Thank you in advance, I’m new to older mustang, so bear with me.

2024.05.15 00:48 Sad-Tomorrow-4530 Buying a used car in Ontario

Hello everyone,
Not sure if this is the right channel but would love to get some advice!
I’m researching and finally looking to finance a used car. Looking for potentially a Toyota Camry (2011-2017).
I’m very new to the car market and I’m afraid to get scammed from some of the sales people.
Few questions I have: 1. When talking to sales person, what are some key things I should ask before going for a test drive? 2. I heard that dealerships turn you away if you don’t finance with them? I have good credit score so I’m trying to get the lowest interest rates 3. If I do go and see the car, what are some things to look out for?
Any advice would be greatly be appreciated!

Preparing for the Audit

Defining the audit objectives

2024.05.14 23:16 PerfectCrouton Way under miles on lease ending soon. What’s the move?

I’m in a 39 month / 10k annual mile lease for a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Limited. Lease ends February 2025. Currently 13.5k miles on the car. Residual at end of lease is 31k.
Looking around it seems like the current value of this car is anywhere from 34-38k depending on dealer or private party sale.
So what’s the best move here? Buy it then sell it (my leasing company doesn’t allow third party buyouts)? Buy it and keep it? Turn it in and buy different used car? I currently pay $495/mo on this lease and wouldn’t mind downgrading a little.

2024.05.14 23:05 DarthBarfBarf [H] $100 Uber Gift Code [W] 80% Paypal

Confirmed sale and closed.
I have a brand new $100 Uber decode from the Uber website. I am selling for what appears to be the market rate of $80. Will exchange immediately.
Please comment before messaging
New to exchange
Received $100 Uber gift code as a "bonus" for work, I drive a car and don't remember the last time I took an Uber or used Uber Eats. Would like to have $ instead. Honest, no tricks, and have used BitValve for other gift cards, but Uber only sells for around 52% on there.

2024.05.14 23:00 drunkentoubib Any rumor about a potential Toyota IQ-EV ?

I know the Iq was a failure in terms of sales (Mostly because it was poorly advertised in europe) but I wanted to know if anybody heard something about a potential IQ-EV ? The IQ is the best city car there is by a loong shot (had also a smart... can't compare, 2 different leagues). My 2008 IQ is starting to get old and the parts are expensive (few sales = rare model). I will have to buy a new car soon and I would hate to learn a few months later that an IQ-EV will be released. Anyone ?
(Tanck you for your time)

2024.05.14 22:50 Dainty_Canary Car Buying Regret

Now, I’ve (21 F) never need a car until now and I’m definitely regretting not searching more and doing the math because I didn’t consider not only the sticker price but all the other stuff. I bought a used 2022 Honda Civic 16k miles on it. My budget was too high at 25k. Guess I definitely should have found a car below that range because I’m now paying double the cost overtime and I’m dying on the inside right now. I’ve had the car for two weeks at least now and I’m reading through it now and I’m shocked!
I’m definitely getting a second job to try and pay a good chunk but any other advice on what I could do would be appreciated!
Apr: 9.19% Finance Charge: $7,887.73 Amount Financed: $25,891.07 Total of Payments: $33,778.80 Total Sale Price: $41,7788.80 (I put $8000 down payment)
72 months, $469.15/ month

2024.05.14 22:49 bubblegumbaker Tales of the Burnt Out Barista

Long Vent/StoryTime.
I used to love my job. I loved being a barista
I would come in smiling just because I got to make drinks, work with people who also loved making drinks, and watch as these customers got what they wanted. I prided myself on memorizing every recipe. Every standard. Not a single thing was out of place. Sure there were drinks I didn’t like making, and the few customers who were rude were hard, but it was worth it.
My very first job. I loved it. It was my pride. I worked at a Tom Thumb Starbucks Kiosk. It was hard since I didn’t have any training, but I felt love in my work.
Fast forward to September, and everyone I worked with had now left. I was asked to be the new manager. I felt ecstatic, I was chosen to make the kiosk my own!
The first thing I wanted to do was make sure all baristas knew each other and worked together. Then make sure they all have the same training. Then add samples to boost sales. Then the cleaning routine evenly split between shifts. I had these plans and ideas.
About a month in, I noticed that my director was scheduling people outside of their availability. So I took it upon myself to make sure everyone got the shifts they needed according to the availability sheets I made. Then people started calling out. Sickness. Birthdays. Car trouble. Had prior obligations. Medical appointments. Excuse after excuse come in. And I gladly work the shifts. Because I loved my job.
Holiday came and went. No one had seen the work I did. My director consistently screamed at me because my baristas weren’t following what I was telling them. So I asked to make the schedule and take people off and write them up if it continued. I wasn’t granted that power. “Your job is to make people come in. If they don’t, you do, there is no excuse”
I worked tirelessly. Not able to manage the people under me. Not being heard by the people above me. I was the only manager in the entire store who didn’t do their schedule. I found out I was also paid significantly less than all the other department managers. Not .50 1.00, but 5 and 10 dollars less. With the same amount of experience.
Recently I’ve had no one come in on weekends. I open. Close. Do mid. Clean. Organize. And restock. All on my own. We also had 2 corporate locations close for remodel, so we’re pulling in 10-12 times the amount of customers. An average day 3 months ago was $500 and now I’m doing $6000 all by myself. Cold Bar. Warming. Customer Support. Bar. It’s just me. I’ve collapsed multiple times from sheer exhaustion and working alone 15 hours with no break 3-4 times a week. I’ve called HR. I’ve called my local labor departments. I’ve talked with my doctors and therapist.
Sunday was my breaking point. I’m now on bed rest by recommendation from my doctor because I’ve thrown out my back. Mother’s Day BOGO ruined me. And I had regular customers come back and say “what happened to the old -Aki- I used to see?” And I just sit there with bags under my eyes and tears down my face. Because I don’t know what happened. I don’t know what I did wrong.
I need my job. I can’t live without my $16/hr, and there isn’t another job paying that much around me, nor has corporate Starbucks accepted any of my applications. I was kicked out of my parents at 18. I have to be able to afford rent. I don’t have another option. I’m only 19 years old.
I used to love my job. And now. It’s slowly killing me. I can’t even begin to imagine what life could have been if I never worked at this store. This hell is the Tale of the Burnt Barista.
-Aki (not my real name)

2024.05.14 22:41 DotNo8793 I'm tired of bugging a friend for the money he owes me, any advise would help.

I (23F) am tired of asking my friend (23M) for the money he owes me. A little bit of background I met this friend at work and got close. We clicked through the same taste in music and an enjoyment of sports. He hasn't always been the best at managing his money. Some time around February/ March (not quite sure when the last round of tickets went on sale) we started talking about attending the Coachella Festival. I had gotten the tickets with the condition he was going to pay me his half of the tickets and if he did not pay me back i was going to keep the wristband since i made the payments on it, his half was $140. There were 4 total payment installments for the wristbands, i had to remind him to send the money but for the first three he was pretty good at sending the money. A little before the festival he was going through a rough patch, losing his car as he had not paid his tags or had insurance on the car after that he ended up losing his job in the office we both worked at. There came a point in which he asked me to sell the wrist band so he could cover all the fees to getting his car back. I had looked around to see if i could sell it to no avail. The day after the conversation he messaged me saying his friend had bought the wrist band from him and was letting him keep it. After that he would message nonstop asking if he could either pick it up or if i could drop it off. At this point I was unsure of how to tell him he still owed me money for the wristband. After work I went to his house and dropped it off, after a bit of small talk i brought up that he still owed me the money for the last payment, he seemed upset that i had brought it up but he did tell me he was going to pay me when his first unemployment check came in.
Come the festival we didn't up going together like planned but we both ended up going. Come the end of April and me going to both festival (Coachella and stagecoach), after stagecoach was over I had found out he has taken a trip to Vegas. I was very upset cuz he had obviously had money to take the trip but not pay me back. I did message his tell him not to forget he owed me, he told me when he received the next unemployment check he would pay me back
Up on till today I have no received anything from him, I have been texting him telling him to not forget, all that he tells me is he got paid x amount and is down to x amount. I have considered adding interest to the money he still owes me but i think that would be a bit cruel considering the circumstances he is in. I have spoke to a few friends that know and and the situation and they agree that I should add the interest. Any advise on how to proceed.
Sorry if its quite long, i wanted to be as detailed as possible
Edit: the total for both the wristbands was $1000, $500 for each. The payments were $280 for both. He paid three payments of 140.
