Hey there, welcome to my little post that probably won't be so little past this point, but thank you for reading as much as you do. I'm known amongst my friends as the over-explainer, so I apologize for the forthcoming novel. If you want to skip most of it, just read the first bit of each bullet point, that should do it.
Age wise, I'm looking for someone between 27 and 34, preferably. Also, I tend to be a night owl, so I sleep during a good portion of the day, and am up at night, so responses may be slow at times.
To begin, some things about myself:

Age wise, I'm looking for someone between 27 and 34, preferably. Also, I tend to be a night owl, so I sleep during a good portion of the day, and am up at night, so responses may be slow at times.
To begin, some things about myself:
- I'm here to make a friend or two, that maybe grows into something more. I don't care where you are from, though I am a sucker for an accent that isn't from the US. Realistically, at this point in my life, I'm old and tired, and know that it just doesn't magically happen for some people. I don't expect to fall in love immediately, I just want someone to enjoy my hobbies with together, and theirs in turn. It's 2024, the world is going to shit and back, and I just want to find someone I can click with.
- I'm friendly with pretty much anyone of any ethnicity, creed, chosen identification of gender or the inbretween and so on, unless they give me a reason not to be. That usually happens when they decide to be an ass to anyone I care about or myself, try to shove their ideals down my throat, or are clearly just not a good person (this is subjective, but sometimes you just.. you know, get the feeling someone might skin you and turn you into a lamp).
- I'm non-religious and pretty apolitical. I wasn't raised religious and will never be, but am perfectly fine with people believing in anything they want, as long as those ideals or beliefs aren't enforced on myself. Politics wise, I kind of agree with some things on either side, but mostly just don't care. In my experience, politics ruin relationships, friendships, and so much more, just because people as a whole are stubborn.
- I do NOT have my entire life together, plain and blunt. I was in a relationship for a long time that ended very dramatically and poorly, and all of the plans I had to move and so on were crushed, so I'm still getting my actual life together. I'm over the relationship and have moved on mentally and such, just haven't gotten everything else entirely in line. I can explain more if asked, I won't hide anything at all, as that isn't how things work. This doesn't mean I don't have a job and freeload, it just means I'm not a rich dude who owns his own home and will buy you everything you need. It's 2024, most people are struggling.
- My hobbies are varied, but mostly encompass gaming (PC, no mobile or console anymore), reading novels, listening to audiobooks at work, binging movies/shows/animes, and roleplaying, be it Discord, in a game (I'm an old WoW RP nerd), or D&D. I'm a huge sci-fi and fantasy nerd. I just love writing and telling a story with someone that can match and challenge my own ability to write. I also probably know too much backstory for the smallest of things in many fandoms and universes, and if it's something I don't know, I tend to absorb it quickly if it interests me.
- I'm pretty healthy for the most part. I don't smoke, cigarettes or weed, and while I don't care if people do, I'd prefer if it wasn't your entire lifestyle. Vaping also doesn't bother me as much, but I'd prefer if you just didn't really feel the need to murder your lungs, you know? You need them to keep hanging out with me! I do drink a bit here and there, but I'm far from an achoholic. I grew up with a few bartendresses in my close family, and so I just grew to enjoy a couple cold ones, or a wild and weird mixed drink.
- I'm not the most physically fit person right now. I'm not bound to a scooter and spend all day laboring for each breath, but the last few years have been a bit rough on me with depression and other things. That said, I am in the process of starting to work out again, because I've grown tired of not doing that sort of thing anymore.

this was a couple years ago, but the memory is still crystal clear. I was driving some backroads from Gambrills into the next town over (Maryland) and Iâve driven this road plenty of times by this point. One night after dropping off my friends gf we headed towards those backroads but before we approached the turn for it, something small and fast dashed across the street. I still had some distance so I flipped my high beams thinking it was a baby deer and maybe a mom was following, what came next was not a deer, mind you Iâm still driving but at this point my foot is off the gas pedal bc even with high beams directly on whatever it was, I couldnât see anything but a shadowy silhouette. Before I could really process what Iâm looking it, it continued on and seemingly ran after whatever it was chasing initially. I looked over to my friend and asked him if he just saw what I did to which he just nodded looking pale as I felt. The entire ride home felt eerie like we just had to get out of the woods portion, I remember thinking I saw glowy eyes throughout those woods and it made me so uneasy, like something was just following us. We still talk about it from time to time and it makes our hairs stick up, I mean how could something be darker than a strong ass high beam in Maryland?? this is really my only scary encounter Iâve had for sure , I was driving in another woodsy area the other night and swore I heard something, so since resparked my interest in figuring if anyone else may know or had something similar happpen

âWhat do you mean itâs wrong?â said Tamara, becoming frustrated with Samuel.
âI'm trying to tell you that plants do not eat earth. They just absorb nutrients from it,â Samuel replied, equally annoyed as this was the fourth time he had explained it. âLook, just take my word for it, OK,â he added.
âFine, but you will have to explain it again,â Tamara retorted.
Samuel and Tamara were partners in a scientific study of their forest home. It was genuinely idyllic in every sense of the word; the trees stretched high into the sky, and everyone was covered in succulent leaves, a deep and gorgeous shade of green. Around their trunks were rings of flowers gathered from every continent, and a thick carpet of grass lay on the ground.
The two sat underneath a chestnut tree, writing up their findings for the day. It had focused mainly on tree sizes and growth rates, and they had continued this study for, on and off, almost a year.
Samuel turned to look at his assistant and found that she was just as remarkable as the day they had first met: golden locks, like living sunlight, tied neatly in a bun. Her eyes were an emerald green, and all in all, she was gorgeous. However, it was when you came to her waist that things became truly incredible because rather than a pair of legs, there was a long and wide snakeâs tail.
It was huge, at least seven metres long and as wide as her torso. The scales were the same beautiful colour as her hair and reflected the sunlight in such a way that she appeared to glow. She was wearing an ultramarine tunic with a black diamond in the centre. She was like this not because of a plague, a curse or some mutation; Tamara was a Lamia; it was how she was born.
Samuel, on the other hand, looked far less impressive. He was around five foot ten, with dull brown hair and equally dull eyes. His stomach stuck out from the rest of him. No amount of exercise was able to get rid of it.
He was by every description a âdull as dishwaterâ human. His clothes, however, were slightly more interesting. He wore a navy blue tunic with a thick leather belt wrapped around his waist. On his feet was a pair of excellent leather boots, able to withstand whatever the world threw at them and on his forearms and shins, he wore something Tamara had never seen or even heard of before: a pair of vambraces and greaves, Samuel called it armour.
Three strips of rugged leather layered on top of one another made up each piece, and between each layer was a collection of tiny metal beads. When Tamara asked what they were for, Samuel said they were for protection.
All of this would have been inconceivable to Samuel two years ago, but he had become used to it in time. Samuel was not born into this world; he had arrived. How? He did not know, but he remembered it all vividly; his senses had been overloaded, and at first, he believed he had died.
âWhatâs wrong?â Tamara asked Samuel, who had been silent for over a minute.
Samuel snapped out of his daydream and said: ânothing, just thinking about that day again.â
Tamara nodded and said nothing else; she knew exactly what was wrong.
Samuel went straight back to writing. When Samuel first showed up, there had been no paper or pens, but what was even stranger than the lack of these apparent necessities was that Samuel had had to invent both of these items.
Tamara and those like her did not possess a written language; they relied entirely on their memories, and until Samuel had shown up, Tamara had not even conceived of the notion, but she had picked it up astonishingly quickly.
âIt still sounds like eating to me,â said Tamara, bringing the conversation back to the original topic.
âWell, it isnât; eating requires a mouth and stomach,â Samuel replied.
âSays who?â Tamara asked defiantly.
âSays me,â Samuel answered.
Samuel jotted down the last of his notes and left the pages to dry in the sun. Samuel then turned to his right and looked at a large book, the size of a chairâs seat, bound in yellow leather and knotted by animal tendons. He picked it up and began to leaf through the pages.
His eyes glanced over paragraphs about oak trees and orchid flowers until he finally reached the section he sought; the page was titled Silver Birch (Betula Pendula).
âHave you finished the drawing on Silver Birch yet?â Samuel asked without looking.
Tamara was currently focused on a drawing of sunflowers, but she understood his request and, without looking up or saying a word, handed him the picture he wanted.
Samuel took the drawing and took several moments admiring it. Like all her work, the picture was astounding; not only did it look like an actual Silver Birch, but it also seemed to be alive, as though it would start blowing in the breeze.
Samuel punched four holes along the sheet's left side, undid the tendon strings and then attached the drawing behind the title page. He added eight more pages to his book, four of text and four illustrations.
Their work was now done; there was no more writing or drawing today, and he placed their work into a knapsack Tamara had brought with her. Samuel turned to his partner and asked: âso what do you want to do now?â
Tamara looked up through the canopy and could make out the silhouettes of several birds and finally said: âIâd quite like to fly.â
Samuel smiled, chuckled and said, âYes, so would I, but that would require every member of the village working together for decades.â
Tamara looked Samuel in the eye and said: âare you making fun of me?â
Samuel did not reply; he just looked Tamara dead in the eye. She observed every minute twitch on Samuel's face and concluded he was not.
âHow could a person fly?â She asked, suddenly intrigued.
âI donât know, Iâm not an engineer,â Samuel answered, âSo apart from flying, what else do you want to do?â
Tamara let out a sigh and said: âI guess we will just have to walk.â
These were the moments Samuel lived for, just a quiet afternoon with his best friend enjoying a stroll; he was utterly content.
âYou seem chipper,â Tamara said, noticing the growing smile on Samuelâs face.
âThatâs because I feel chipperâ he replied
They passed through the trees, heading towards their favourite spot, a beach by the side of a lake so large you could not see the other side.
âSo, how is everyone?â Samuel said, trying to spark a conversation.
âYou mean every single one because that could take a while?â Tamara replied.
âLetâs start with your motherâ he clarified.
Tamaraâs mother, Pancha, was more or less just a larger version of her daughter, just as brash and headstrong.
âSheâs fine; she has finally stopped asking me what happened every time I come to meet you,â she said.
âReally, and it only took her two and a half years,â said Samuel with a smirk.
Yes, that first year here, had been a real trial. Samuel had never felt so scared, isolated and persecuted in his life. When he thought about it, he could still feel the fear and the hopelessness.
A gust of air slammed into Samuelâs face, bringing him back to the present, and what a wonderful time it was. The water was crystal clear, the beach was covered in sparkling white sand, and the distinct aroma of water wafted through the air. Samuel breathed it all in as Tamara spread herself over the beach.
The cooling breeze that Samuel found so enjoyable, Tamara found far less agreeable. Tamara was ectothermic or cold-blooded. She could not maintain her body temperature; she needed to absorb it from her environment, and the wind was slowly draining her.
âComfortable down there?â Samuel asked.
Tamara turned her head, looked up at him and said: âActually, yes, not as good as my bed, but still fine.â
Samuel left Tamara to her thermoregulation and strolled down to the waterâs edge, âstay where I can see you!â Tamara called.
âYes, MOM,â Samuel answered sarcastically, though he knew it was more for Tamaraâs sake than his; she had a problem with open spaces.
Samuel closed his eyes, stretched his arms above his head, feeling his muscles strain against the tension, and yawned. Small tears formed in his eyes and wiped them away. He had only been up for a few hours but was ready for bed.
âToo much thinking, that was the problem,â Samuel mumbled to himself.
The sunlight sparkled on the waterâs surface. It seemed as though millions of diamonds were suddenly brought into existence, danced for a few moments, and then vanished as quickly as they came. It was beautiful, just like everything else here.
He climbed up a rock that jutted from that sand and sat down, his legs dangling over the edge. As he kicked his legs, a ray of sun caught his greaves, and although the leather was rather dull, it still dazzled him.
Samuel heard a sound reminiscent of sandpaper brushing against wood, and he knew at once what it was. He waited four more seconds and said, without moving an inch, âDonât even think about it!â
âHow did you know?â Tamara asked, feeling simultaneously impressed, confused and disappointed.
Samuel looked her in the eye and replied: âwho do you think youâre dealing with?â
Tamara had not clambered up the rock like Samuel; she had simply raised herself on her tail so she stood over two metres high.
âAre you feeling better?â he asked.
Tamara smiled and answered, âyes, thanks for asking.â
Tamara moved behind Samuel and then began to coil around the boulder, and if he had not experienced it all before, it would have been unnerving. Tamara was only twelve and a half, yet she was already far stronger than him. Samuel was sure if Tamara really wanted to, she could crush a bison to death. After the graceful dance around the stone, she sat down beside Samuel.
The pair was silent for a few minutes, except for a quick coughing fit by Samuel; they took in the unnatural beauty of their surroundings.
âHey, I have a question,â said Tamara, coming back to her senses.
âWhat is it?â Samuel replied.
âYou still havenât told me why we are studying the forest?â She asked.
In an instant, Samuel became deeply confused. To him, it seemed all too obvious why they were doing it.
âThere is no practical reason for doing it. We do it so that we know,â Samuel answered.
Tamara became silent. Samuel realised that she was deep in thought and decided to give her all the time she needed until she finally said: âIs this one of those human things?â
Samuel, upon hearing this, gave a small chuckle and answered: âyes, if you like.â
Suddenly, something caught Samuelâs eye. It was a crab, no bigger than a golf ball. Its back was powder blue, and it held its arms upright, its claws pointing down. The tiny creature would walk forward, scoop some sand into its mouth, and then leave a small pellet behind.
âLook at that!â said Samuel, nudging Tamaraâs shoulder and pointing at the tiny crustacean. Tamara turned her head and looked directly at where he was pointing; she strained her eyes at what she thought was a pebble; she was about to climb down and collect it when it suddenly moved, and she squealed.
Tamara dragged the bottom end of her tail up from the beach and timidly said, âWhatâs that?â
Samuel remembered that tone of voice all too well, and it brought with it some unpleasant memories, but he pushed them to the back of his mind and said: âitâs a crab.â
Samuel was certain he had seen this type of crab before but could not put a name to the image. Samuel was sure he had read about them, watched a documentary, or attended a lecture, but he could not remember. Ultimately, he decided to drop it for now and see if the answer would come to him.
Tamara kept staring at it as though she believed it would pounce if she took her eyes off it for one second.
âIs it dangerous?â she asked, her voice hushed to ensure the creature did not notice her.
Samuel sighed and answered: âitâs a crab, Tamara, unless you happen to be a nematode thenâŠâ
Samuel paused mid-sentence as his brain finally connected the dots and asked, âWait, you have never seen a crab before?â
This perplexed Samuel for a moment until he remembered that Tamara did not have a television, a car, and she could not fly a plane, so it was not unexpected that she would not know what a crab was.
Tamara shook her head in response to his question, and Samuel added: âyou know what a woodlouse is, right?â
Tamara nodded and said, âI like woodlice.â
âWell, a crab is just a type of woodlouse that lives near water,â Samuel concluded.
However, he could tell from her face that she was unconvinced, so he got off the rock, walked over to the tiny creature, wary of its pincers, and picked it up by its backside.
âWhat are you doing?â Tamara called in alarm.
Samuel held the animal, its legs flailing wildly in an attempt to escape, and said, âshowing you there is nothing to be worried about.â
Taking care not to crush it, Samuel clambered back up the rock and presented the animal to her. Tamara stared at it for some as the crab bobbed its eye up and down and tried in vain to find a part of Samuel it could nip.
âItâs actually kind of⊠cute,â Tamara said after two minutes of silence.
She relaxed her tail and let it rest on the beach once more. âCan it hold it?â She asked Samuel, fear being replaced by interest.
âOf course, you can. Just make sure you hold it by its back and be careful of the pincers; if they get you, it will hurt.â
Samuel handed the crab over to her and watched as Tamara began to inspect the animal from every angle. The crab had a white underbelly and purple joints.
âYou think you could draw it from memory?â Samuel asked.
âHmm?â Tamara replied. Samuel let out a sigh and repeated. After three more attempts, Tamara finally took notice and said, âYes.â
Five minutes later, Samuel said, âwe should probably put him back now.â
Tamara moaned about it, but Samuel said: âhe has his own life, Tamara; you canât keep him!â
She conceded, grumbling under her breath, and gently placed the animal back on the sand. As the crab dashed away, the two noticed that while they had been fixated on that single crab, thousands more had emerged on the beach.
Upon seeing the swarm of animals make their way across the beach, Tamara let out a squeal and once again pulled her tail up off the beach. The army of crabs marched along the shore. The collective walking produced a sound loud enough to hear from fifty metres away, and at last, Samuel remembered what they were and said, with no small amount of satisfaction in his voice, âtheyâre soldier crabs.â
âWhat are they going to do?â Tamara asked, concerned by the sudden appearance of so many creatures.
Samuel kept staring at the gathering, but he heard her question and replied, âTheyâre just feeding,â and added quickly, âBut we are far too big for them.â
âThat's odd,â Samuel said under his breath.
âI know there are so many of them,â Tamara said, deeply unnerved by the sheer vastness of the swarm.
âNo,â Samuel said, âThere should be this many of them; itâs where they are that is strange.â
Tamara momentarily took her eyes off the army and asked, âSo where should they be.â There was a slight flicker of fear in her voice at the prospect of being invaded; rats and mice where bad enough. They did not need another pest.
âBy the sea, not a freshwater lake,â he answered.
âThe Sea?â Tamara almost yelled. Samuel was a little surprised by this enthusiasm and turned to face her.
âYes,â he said.
âHave you ever been to the sea,â she asked.
âYes, many times,â Samuel said, uncertain where this was going.
âI bet itâs wonderful,â Tamara added with a smile.
Samuel was silent as his brain connected a few dots and asked: âhow can you know about the sea if you donât know about crabs?â
She smiled; Tamara enjoyed it when she knew something that he did not, âthere is a story that my mom told me that before we came to this forest, we were a different people that lived by the sea.â Tamara paused for a breath.
âBut then humans came and drove us from the water, and we fled inland. Our people split into two. One half went to the mountains, and the other settled in the forest.â
Tamara finished and waited for his reply. Samuel, however, just kept looking at her. Tamara was concerned that she had upset him; he did not like it when humans were labelled as the enemy, yet his face and posture were not those of one who was sad or angry.
âYou people blame us for everything, donât you?â Samuel said with a chuckle.
âIf there is a fire, itâs a humanâs fault. If there is an earthquake, itâs a humanâs fault. If a little Boreray boy drinks all their apple juice in one gulp, itâs a humanâs fault.â
âSo, getting back on topic, where did these âSoldier crabsâ come from anyway? We have visited this lake for over two years and never seen even a glimpse?â Tamara asked. Samuel looked back to the slowly advancing army, and several ideas flashed through his head.
âMaybe they have been dormant up until now; perhaps they make a large circle around the lake shore, and itâs simply luck that we were here on the day they passed by, or maybe the migrated here from somewhere else.â
They watched the crabs' ceaseless march until Tamara said, âThese things are still giving me the creeps. Can we go now?â Samuel could not argue that there was something eerie about all of these animals appearing, seemingly, from nowhere; however, there was still one thing he had to be certain of.
âYou think you could draw one from memory?â he asked.
Tamaraâs face contorted in a scowl. Samuel, for all his good points, could become far too focused on his research, which often caused him to become ignorant of other people.
Yet she knew sitting here yelling at him would accomplish nothing, so she told him the truth: âYes, can we go now!â Samuel nodded and then slid off the rock. Tamara copied him, and they both slinked back to the cover of the trees.
Now that she was beneath the canopy, Tamara let out an enormous sigh of relief as the anxiety slowly left, and the close air warmed her body. On the other hand, Samuel began to chafe at the stagnant air while his head began to bead with sweat, but it was nothing he had not experienced before, so he gritted his teeth and bared with it.
With their plans now ruined, Tamara and Samuel wandered aimlessly through the woods, chatting about what they could do to fill the rest of the day. Several ideas arose, including visiting a nearby waterfall and a set of monument stones, but none truly appealed to them.
In the end, Tamara said, âhow about we just call it a day?â
Samuel was happy about this. Tamara was his only form of human contact, yet he could not deny the pointlessness of wandering around the woods, so he said, âOk, but letâs take the long way.â
Samuel heard a sound above him and saw a red squirrel scampering through the trees.
âIs it difficult?â Tamara asked.
Samuel looked at Tamara and replied, âWell, it can give me a crick in my neck sometimes.â
Tamara let out a short laugh and clarified, âNo, I mean, is it difficult being so inquisitive? It looks exhausting.â
He was not entirely sure what she meant by that. To Samuel, Tamara was every bit as curious as him, so he stated: âyou tell me, you went out looking for me just because you wanted to know.â
âTrue,â answered Tamara, âand everyone has always said that I am always asking questions, but youâre like a boar that just ate sugar beat.â
âI have no idea what that means,â Samuel said, shaking his head. âBut I do know that people always told me, when I was a boy, that humans are, by their nature, infinitely curious, but personally, I think that itâs just how I was born.â there was a pause, and he quickly added, âjust like you.â
Tamaraâs fingers started to numb as she brushed them against the bark of passing trees. She took a good look at the trees around her. Tamara had lived her entire life sheltered by these trees. This place was her home, her familyâs home and her friendâs home, and she loved it, a perfect example of the innate beauty of nature.
Samuel, however, was of a different opinion this forest disturbed him, though this feeling had diminished with time. The trees all grew in perfect symmetry, four and a half strides form each other.
From Tamaraâs perspective, there was nothing strange about this, yet Samuel often said that this should not be possible, that the wood should be a mess and that the trees should grow in an unorganised fashion. Yet to Tamara, the idea of messy forests was just as impossible as a structured one was to him.
Noon came and went, and Samuelâs stomach began to rumble. His breakfast was becoming a distant memory; he thought he might be able to bear it for another hour or so, but as they travelled closer to the village, Tamara started to become irritated by Samuelâs constant growling.
âWe need to find you something to eat before that sound drives me nuts!â Tamara stated bluntly.
âThatâs all well and good, my dear, so long as you can materialise food out of the aether,â answered Samuel, with just a hint of condescension in his voice.
Tamara did not know what the aether was, but it did not matter. âNo, but I do know a nearby tree with some great fruit in it,â she replied.
Samuel found this strange for two reasons. Firstly, he found it very difficult to believe there was a source of food in this forest that either he had not found, or Tamara had not told him about yet.
Secondly that, Tamara would know much about something she could not eat. Tamara was strictly carnivorous; she ate nothing but meat.
He wanted answers fast and asked: âSo why havenât you told me about this before?â
âBecause I canât stand the smell, thatâs why, and I didnât want you stinking up the place,â she explained.
âIf it smells disgusting, what makes you think I will eat it?â he asked.
âBecause the Boreray canât get enough of it, some of them say that they taste like all the best parts of every fruit and vegetable we grow, which is a shame because they smell like all the worst,â she added.
He asked no more questions. He was too busy thinking; this fruit sounded so familiar, but he could not remember. The need to survive day in day out had pushed most of his standard learning, from school and university to the back of his mind, not forgotten mind you just buried.

âI'm trying to tell you that plants do not eat earth. They just absorb nutrients from it,â Samuel replied, equally annoyed as this was the fourth time he had explained it. âLook, just take my word for it, OK,â he added.
âFine, but you will have to explain it again,â Tamara retorted.
Samuel and Tamara were partners in a scientific study of their forest home. It was genuinely idyllic in every sense of the word; the trees stretched high into the sky, and everyone was covered in succulent leaves, a deep and gorgeous shade of green. Around their trunks were rings of flowers gathered from every continent, and a thick carpet of grass lay on the ground.
The two sat underneath a chestnut tree, writing up their findings for the day. It had focused mainly on tree sizes and growth rates, and they had continued this study for, on and off, almost a year.
Samuel turned to look at his assistant and found that she was just as remarkable as the day they had first met: golden locks, like living sunlight, tied neatly in a bun. Her eyes were an emerald green, and all in all, she was gorgeous. However, it was when you came to her waist that things became truly incredible because rather than a pair of legs, there was a long and wide snakeâs tail.
It was huge, at least seven metres long and as wide as her torso. The scales were the same beautiful colour as her hair and reflected the sunlight in such a way that she appeared to glow. She was wearing an ultramarine tunic with a black diamond in the centre. She was like this not because of a plague, a curse or some mutation; Tamara was a Lamia; it was how she was born.
Samuel, on the other hand, looked far less impressive. He was around five foot ten, with dull brown hair and equally dull eyes. His stomach stuck out from the rest of him. No amount of exercise was able to get rid of it.
He was by every description a âdull as dishwaterâ human. His clothes, however, were slightly more interesting. He wore a navy blue tunic with a thick leather belt wrapped around his waist. On his feet was a pair of excellent leather boots, able to withstand whatever the world threw at them and on his forearms and shins, he wore something Tamara had never seen or even heard of before: a pair of vambraces and greaves, Samuel called it armour.
Three strips of rugged leather layered on top of one another made up each piece, and between each layer was a collection of tiny metal beads. When Tamara asked what they were for, Samuel said they were for protection.
All of this would have been inconceivable to Samuel two years ago, but he had become used to it in time. Samuel was not born into this world; he had arrived. How? He did not know, but he remembered it all vividly; his senses had been overloaded, and at first, he believed he had died.
âWhatâs wrong?â Tamara asked Samuel, who had been silent for over a minute.
Samuel snapped out of his daydream and said: ânothing, just thinking about that day again.â
Tamara nodded and said nothing else; she knew exactly what was wrong.
Samuel went straight back to writing. When Samuel first showed up, there had been no paper or pens, but what was even stranger than the lack of these apparent necessities was that Samuel had had to invent both of these items.
Tamara and those like her did not possess a written language; they relied entirely on their memories, and until Samuel had shown up, Tamara had not even conceived of the notion, but she had picked it up astonishingly quickly.
âIt still sounds like eating to me,â said Tamara, bringing the conversation back to the original topic.
âWell, it isnât; eating requires a mouth and stomach,â Samuel replied.
âSays who?â Tamara asked defiantly.
âSays me,â Samuel answered.
Samuel jotted down the last of his notes and left the pages to dry in the sun. Samuel then turned to his right and looked at a large book, the size of a chairâs seat, bound in yellow leather and knotted by animal tendons. He picked it up and began to leaf through the pages.
His eyes glanced over paragraphs about oak trees and orchid flowers until he finally reached the section he sought; the page was titled Silver Birch (Betula Pendula).
âHave you finished the drawing on Silver Birch yet?â Samuel asked without looking.
Tamara was currently focused on a drawing of sunflowers, but she understood his request and, without looking up or saying a word, handed him the picture he wanted.
Samuel took the drawing and took several moments admiring it. Like all her work, the picture was astounding; not only did it look like an actual Silver Birch, but it also seemed to be alive, as though it would start blowing in the breeze.
Samuel punched four holes along the sheet's left side, undid the tendon strings and then attached the drawing behind the title page. He added eight more pages to his book, four of text and four illustrations.
Their work was now done; there was no more writing or drawing today, and he placed their work into a knapsack Tamara had brought with her. Samuel turned to his partner and asked: âso what do you want to do now?â
Tamara looked up through the canopy and could make out the silhouettes of several birds and finally said: âIâd quite like to fly.â
Samuel smiled, chuckled and said, âYes, so would I, but that would require every member of the village working together for decades.â
Tamara looked Samuel in the eye and said: âare you making fun of me?â
Samuel did not reply; he just looked Tamara dead in the eye. She observed every minute twitch on Samuel's face and concluded he was not.
âHow could a person fly?â She asked, suddenly intrigued.
âI donât know, Iâm not an engineer,â Samuel answered, âSo apart from flying, what else do you want to do?â
Tamara let out a sigh and said: âI guess we will just have to walk.â
These were the moments Samuel lived for, just a quiet afternoon with his best friend enjoying a stroll; he was utterly content.
âYou seem chipper,â Tamara said, noticing the growing smile on Samuelâs face.
âThatâs because I feel chipperâ he replied
They passed through the trees, heading towards their favourite spot, a beach by the side of a lake so large you could not see the other side.
âSo, how is everyone?â Samuel said, trying to spark a conversation.
âYou mean every single one because that could take a while?â Tamara replied.
âLetâs start with your motherâ he clarified.
Tamaraâs mother, Pancha, was more or less just a larger version of her daughter, just as brash and headstrong.
âSheâs fine; she has finally stopped asking me what happened every time I come to meet you,â she said.
âReally, and it only took her two and a half years,â said Samuel with a smirk.
Yes, that first year here, had been a real trial. Samuel had never felt so scared, isolated and persecuted in his life. When he thought about it, he could still feel the fear and the hopelessness.
A gust of air slammed into Samuelâs face, bringing him back to the present, and what a wonderful time it was. The water was crystal clear, the beach was covered in sparkling white sand, and the distinct aroma of water wafted through the air. Samuel breathed it all in as Tamara spread herself over the beach.
The cooling breeze that Samuel found so enjoyable, Tamara found far less agreeable. Tamara was ectothermic or cold-blooded. She could not maintain her body temperature; she needed to absorb it from her environment, and the wind was slowly draining her.
âComfortable down there?â Samuel asked.
Tamara turned her head, looked up at him and said: âActually, yes, not as good as my bed, but still fine.â
Samuel left Tamara to her thermoregulation and strolled down to the waterâs edge, âstay where I can see you!â Tamara called.
âYes, MOM,â Samuel answered sarcastically, though he knew it was more for Tamaraâs sake than his; she had a problem with open spaces.
Samuel closed his eyes, stretched his arms above his head, feeling his muscles strain against the tension, and yawned. Small tears formed in his eyes and wiped them away. He had only been up for a few hours but was ready for bed.
âToo much thinking, that was the problem,â Samuel mumbled to himself.
The sunlight sparkled on the waterâs surface. It seemed as though millions of diamonds were suddenly brought into existence, danced for a few moments, and then vanished as quickly as they came. It was beautiful, just like everything else here.
He climbed up a rock that jutted from that sand and sat down, his legs dangling over the edge. As he kicked his legs, a ray of sun caught his greaves, and although the leather was rather dull, it still dazzled him.
Samuel heard a sound reminiscent of sandpaper brushing against wood, and he knew at once what it was. He waited four more seconds and said, without moving an inch, âDonât even think about it!â
âHow did you know?â Tamara asked, feeling simultaneously impressed, confused and disappointed.
Samuel looked her in the eye and replied: âwho do you think youâre dealing with?â
Tamara had not clambered up the rock like Samuel; she had simply raised herself on her tail so she stood over two metres high.
âAre you feeling better?â he asked.
Tamara smiled and answered, âyes, thanks for asking.â
Tamara moved behind Samuel and then began to coil around the boulder, and if he had not experienced it all before, it would have been unnerving. Tamara was only twelve and a half, yet she was already far stronger than him. Samuel was sure if Tamara really wanted to, she could crush a bison to death. After the graceful dance around the stone, she sat down beside Samuel.
The pair was silent for a few minutes, except for a quick coughing fit by Samuel; they took in the unnatural beauty of their surroundings.
âHey, I have a question,â said Tamara, coming back to her senses.
âWhat is it?â Samuel replied.
âYou still havenât told me why we are studying the forest?â She asked.
In an instant, Samuel became deeply confused. To him, it seemed all too obvious why they were doing it.
âThere is no practical reason for doing it. We do it so that we know,â Samuel answered.
Tamara became silent. Samuel realised that she was deep in thought and decided to give her all the time she needed until she finally said: âIs this one of those human things?â
Samuel, upon hearing this, gave a small chuckle and answered: âyes, if you like.â
Suddenly, something caught Samuelâs eye. It was a crab, no bigger than a golf ball. Its back was powder blue, and it held its arms upright, its claws pointing down. The tiny creature would walk forward, scoop some sand into its mouth, and then leave a small pellet behind.
âLook at that!â said Samuel, nudging Tamaraâs shoulder and pointing at the tiny crustacean. Tamara turned her head and looked directly at where he was pointing; she strained her eyes at what she thought was a pebble; she was about to climb down and collect it when it suddenly moved, and she squealed.
Tamara dragged the bottom end of her tail up from the beach and timidly said, âWhatâs that?â
Samuel remembered that tone of voice all too well, and it brought with it some unpleasant memories, but he pushed them to the back of his mind and said: âitâs a crab.â
Samuel was certain he had seen this type of crab before but could not put a name to the image. Samuel was sure he had read about them, watched a documentary, or attended a lecture, but he could not remember. Ultimately, he decided to drop it for now and see if the answer would come to him.
Tamara kept staring at it as though she believed it would pounce if she took her eyes off it for one second.
âIs it dangerous?â she asked, her voice hushed to ensure the creature did not notice her.
Samuel sighed and answered: âitâs a crab, Tamara, unless you happen to be a nematode thenâŠâ
Samuel paused mid-sentence as his brain finally connected the dots and asked, âWait, you have never seen a crab before?â
This perplexed Samuel for a moment until he remembered that Tamara did not have a television, a car, and she could not fly a plane, so it was not unexpected that she would not know what a crab was.
Tamara shook her head in response to his question, and Samuel added: âyou know what a woodlouse is, right?â
Tamara nodded and said, âI like woodlice.â
âWell, a crab is just a type of woodlouse that lives near water,â Samuel concluded.
However, he could tell from her face that she was unconvinced, so he got off the rock, walked over to the tiny creature, wary of its pincers, and picked it up by its backside.
âWhat are you doing?â Tamara called in alarm.
Samuel held the animal, its legs flailing wildly in an attempt to escape, and said, âshowing you there is nothing to be worried about.â
Taking care not to crush it, Samuel clambered back up the rock and presented the animal to her. Tamara stared at it for some as the crab bobbed its eye up and down and tried in vain to find a part of Samuel it could nip.
âItâs actually kind of⊠cute,â Tamara said after two minutes of silence.
She relaxed her tail and let it rest on the beach once more. âCan it hold it?â She asked Samuel, fear being replaced by interest.
âOf course, you can. Just make sure you hold it by its back and be careful of the pincers; if they get you, it will hurt.â
Samuel handed the crab over to her and watched as Tamara began to inspect the animal from every angle. The crab had a white underbelly and purple joints.
âYou think you could draw it from memory?â Samuel asked.
âHmm?â Tamara replied. Samuel let out a sigh and repeated. After three more attempts, Tamara finally took notice and said, âYes.â
Five minutes later, Samuel said, âwe should probably put him back now.â
Tamara moaned about it, but Samuel said: âhe has his own life, Tamara; you canât keep him!â
She conceded, grumbling under her breath, and gently placed the animal back on the sand. As the crab dashed away, the two noticed that while they had been fixated on that single crab, thousands more had emerged on the beach.
Upon seeing the swarm of animals make their way across the beach, Tamara let out a squeal and once again pulled her tail up off the beach. The army of crabs marched along the shore. The collective walking produced a sound loud enough to hear from fifty metres away, and at last, Samuel remembered what they were and said, with no small amount of satisfaction in his voice, âtheyâre soldier crabs.â
âWhat are they going to do?â Tamara asked, concerned by the sudden appearance of so many creatures.
Samuel kept staring at the gathering, but he heard her question and replied, âTheyâre just feeding,â and added quickly, âBut we are far too big for them.â
âThat's odd,â Samuel said under his breath.
âI know there are so many of them,â Tamara said, deeply unnerved by the sheer vastness of the swarm.
âNo,â Samuel said, âThere should be this many of them; itâs where they are that is strange.â
Tamara momentarily took her eyes off the army and asked, âSo where should they be.â There was a slight flicker of fear in her voice at the prospect of being invaded; rats and mice where bad enough. They did not need another pest.
âBy the sea, not a freshwater lake,â he answered.
âThe Sea?â Tamara almost yelled. Samuel was a little surprised by this enthusiasm and turned to face her.
âYes,â he said.
âHave you ever been to the sea,â she asked.
âYes, many times,â Samuel said, uncertain where this was going.
âI bet itâs wonderful,â Tamara added with a smile.
Samuel was silent as his brain connected a few dots and asked: âhow can you know about the sea if you donât know about crabs?â
She smiled; Tamara enjoyed it when she knew something that he did not, âthere is a story that my mom told me that before we came to this forest, we were a different people that lived by the sea.â Tamara paused for a breath.
âBut then humans came and drove us from the water, and we fled inland. Our people split into two. One half went to the mountains, and the other settled in the forest.â
Tamara finished and waited for his reply. Samuel, however, just kept looking at her. Tamara was concerned that she had upset him; he did not like it when humans were labelled as the enemy, yet his face and posture were not those of one who was sad or angry.
âYou people blame us for everything, donât you?â Samuel said with a chuckle.
âIf there is a fire, itâs a humanâs fault. If there is an earthquake, itâs a humanâs fault. If a little Boreray boy drinks all their apple juice in one gulp, itâs a humanâs fault.â
âSo, getting back on topic, where did these âSoldier crabsâ come from anyway? We have visited this lake for over two years and never seen even a glimpse?â Tamara asked. Samuel looked back to the slowly advancing army, and several ideas flashed through his head.
âMaybe they have been dormant up until now; perhaps they make a large circle around the lake shore, and itâs simply luck that we were here on the day they passed by, or maybe the migrated here from somewhere else.â
They watched the crabs' ceaseless march until Tamara said, âThese things are still giving me the creeps. Can we go now?â Samuel could not argue that there was something eerie about all of these animals appearing, seemingly, from nowhere; however, there was still one thing he had to be certain of.
âYou think you could draw one from memory?â he asked.
Tamaraâs face contorted in a scowl. Samuel, for all his good points, could become far too focused on his research, which often caused him to become ignorant of other people.
Yet she knew sitting here yelling at him would accomplish nothing, so she told him the truth: âYes, can we go now!â Samuel nodded and then slid off the rock. Tamara copied him, and they both slinked back to the cover of the trees.
Now that she was beneath the canopy, Tamara let out an enormous sigh of relief as the anxiety slowly left, and the close air warmed her body. On the other hand, Samuel began to chafe at the stagnant air while his head began to bead with sweat, but it was nothing he had not experienced before, so he gritted his teeth and bared with it.
With their plans now ruined, Tamara and Samuel wandered aimlessly through the woods, chatting about what they could do to fill the rest of the day. Several ideas arose, including visiting a nearby waterfall and a set of monument stones, but none truly appealed to them.
In the end, Tamara said, âhow about we just call it a day?â
Samuel was happy about this. Tamara was his only form of human contact, yet he could not deny the pointlessness of wandering around the woods, so he said, âOk, but letâs take the long way.â
Samuel heard a sound above him and saw a red squirrel scampering through the trees.
âIs it difficult?â Tamara asked.
Samuel looked at Tamara and replied, âWell, it can give me a crick in my neck sometimes.â
Tamara let out a short laugh and clarified, âNo, I mean, is it difficult being so inquisitive? It looks exhausting.â
He was not entirely sure what she meant by that. To Samuel, Tamara was every bit as curious as him, so he stated: âyou tell me, you went out looking for me just because you wanted to know.â
âTrue,â answered Tamara, âand everyone has always said that I am always asking questions, but youâre like a boar that just ate sugar beat.â
âI have no idea what that means,â Samuel said, shaking his head. âBut I do know that people always told me, when I was a boy, that humans are, by their nature, infinitely curious, but personally, I think that itâs just how I was born.â there was a pause, and he quickly added, âjust like you.â
Tamaraâs fingers started to numb as she brushed them against the bark of passing trees. She took a good look at the trees around her. Tamara had lived her entire life sheltered by these trees. This place was her home, her familyâs home and her friendâs home, and she loved it, a perfect example of the innate beauty of nature.
Samuel, however, was of a different opinion this forest disturbed him, though this feeling had diminished with time. The trees all grew in perfect symmetry, four and a half strides form each other.

hello everyone :) i am a 19 y/o from eastern canada (you can use he/they for me) i dont really care about how old you are as long as we have some stuff in common! heres some stuff about me;
ive somewhat recently come to really love cooking, and ill always love discussing languages, countries, and cultures (even if they are not youmy own). i love collecting things (especially pokemon things, I LOVE POKEMON! i have a little tank collection too with a few tanker helmets as well!) but i have a decently sized rock/crystal collection too. i enjoy writing and drawing occasionally even though im in a bit of a love hate relationship with both of them right now i consider myself an open minded person, i like hearing other opinions and viewpoints on all sorts of things even if they do not match my own. i am down for discussing "deeper" things like politics, religion, mental health and the like as long as it stays respectful! very lgbtq friendly of course.
i love weird animals (hyenas, vultures, and rats are just a few of my favourites, as well as anything with hooves. ive had a handful of awesome rats, ah i miss them.) and weird music too! i often bounce between super random genres but i love all genres, and especially love hearing music in different languages, genres, and from different countries! ill listen to LITERALLY ANYTHING and probably enjoy it! seriously! but my chemical romance has a very special spot in my heart and always will <3.

ive somewhat recently come to really love cooking, and ill always love discussing languages, countries, and cultures (even if they are not youmy own). i love collecting things (especially pokemon things, I LOVE POKEMON! i have a little tank collection too with a few tanker helmets as well!) but i have a decently sized rock/crystal collection, as well as some plants. i enjoy writing and drawing occasionally even though im in a bit of a love hate relationship with both of them right now i consider myself an open minded person, i like hearing other opinions and viewpoints on all sorts of things even if they do not match my own. i am down for discussing "deeper" things like politics, religion, mental health and the like as long as it stays respectful! very lgbtq friendly of course.

I've had sensory issues with jewelry for my entire life. I remember being 4 at the jewelry store with my mom. She was putting up earrings to my ear and asking me if I liked any. Not only did I not like any but I would've rather died than let those things touch me and I was using all my brainpower to tell my mom no without hurting her feelings. I rejected a guy I liked at 13 because he "proposed" with a ring. My mom got me this pretty chain with different charms for each day of the week. I put on a turtleneck and tried to wear the necklace over it. I felt like I was suffocating. It makes me feel like a wet shower curtain is touching me. Beaded/ braided bracelets don't bother me too much and I've been getting into rings veeery slowly. I even got a silver anklet that I can kinda wear once it warms up to my skin because it's not dangling and it's far from my head. I'm still not intrested in any kind of piercing but I do like how some chokers look on others and would like to slowly get into that. Another part of this is that it would be a huge change and people would start pointing it out which will make me feel uncomfortable, same thing happened when I started wearing makeup and girly clothes after being a tomboy for 15 years. Even the words jewelry, earrings, necklace make me uncomfortable both in English and in my native language. I refuse to date anyone who has piercings or wears chains, I know I would struggle with physical contact. Any advice?

Iso is by far the weakest agent in the game, so let's take a look on how he could get buffed. It's rather difficult to buff Iso to be honest, because there are rather limited ways to do so:
This leads to most people suggesting the wall be buffed to work like Harbor's wall where Iso could stop it anytime he wants. However, I don't like this idea and I don't think Riot likes it either because it takes away from the uniqueness of both Iso and Harbor's walls. Other basic ideas include making the wall wider or having it last longer. These basic ideas could definitely be good changes, but I propose that Riot should lean into the anti-bullet shield idea of the wall and also make it block projectiles. This would work like the buy phase barrier where projectiles such as Killjoy mollies, Raze nades, Sova darts, really any projectile would just bounce off the wall.
I believe this change could make Iso viable even in coordinated pro play. In fact, this buff may have the biggest impact in pro play but would be a great buff across the board at all elos.
For starters, this would make Iso much better on defense. As soon as a site exec starts, Iso can just drop the wall and suddenly the Sova dart bounces back in Sova's face, the Viper molly drops to the floor, etc., etc.
This buff would also have the funny additional benefit of denying lineups. When you see that Brim molly flying at the spike, just throw the wall and suddenly the lineup misses and you can stick the defuse.
But the greatest impact might just be that this change could maybe make Iso viable on Lotus. In my opinion, Lotus was already one of Iso's better maps in ranked as it is one of the few maps where his wall in its current state can be useful on attack. It's decent at denying the default C long peek while your team takes mound. B site is one of the only sites where the wall can actually be fully utilized to cover waterfall while you exec because it's such a short site. Iso also has some decent plays on defense as his vulnerable is very useful to combo with a Raze nade every round on defense to fight A, and it is not as valuable as an Omen flash so you could always do it every round (plus he has two of them).
The Lotus meta has always been to heavily fight for A rubble control. Some teams always do it, some teams do it less, but all teams do it pretty frequently and have multiple set plays for fighting A rubble. Even during ranked games across all ranks people know to fight for it on defense, throwing Raze nades and Omen blinds.
If Iso's wall was buffed to reflect projectiles, he would be extremely valuable on Lotus attack as he could throw the wall on A every round to completely shut down any defender aggression. The wall serves a dual purpose as you and your team can get across to rubble for free behind cover. You would essentially get easy rubble control every round for 200 credits.
If we're talking specifically pro scene, having that free rubble control may already be enough to make Iso a niche pick. However, this could also have the added benefit of allowing teams to switch from Omen to Brim as their primary controller. Some teams already have shown that they prefer Brim, such as NRG or Navi, although it is still considered a niche pick. One reason teams go for Omen is because of how good the Omen flash can be for fighting for A. However, if teams used Iso they could use the Iso vulnerable instead and also pick Brim without having to sacrifice all of the capabilities of the Omen flash.
As a final note, I know that some people will probably complain about how it is too OP if you can just drop a wall and completely shut down a Raze rocket or Deadlock ult, but do remember that a simple Kayo knife can already do that.

- Iso's vulnerable ability is already a good ability and doesn't need a buff. Even if you wanted to buff it, there are not a whole lot of good options available. Make it faster is an idea I've seen floating around but it's already pretty fast and it really wouldn't do anything to make Iso better
- Iso's ult doesn't really need any unique changes either, maybe you can reduce the cost by one but there are really limited options available to buff his ult without making it a completely free kill. It's also just a decent ult already
- Iso's shield is finnicky and could definitely use a buff. I think making it so you don't have to pre-activate the ability and could just shoot the orb on kill anytime is a huge quality-of-life change but honestly doesn't really move the needle in terms of Iso's viability. The shield kind of just is what it is. There's really not a whole lot else you can do with it, it already tanks one instance of damage. You can't make it two instances without it becoming broken. Making it last longer won't do much to help buff Iso out of F tier. I saw on TenZ's stream when he was talking about Iso buffs that he thought of an idea where the shield could tank a stun as if it was the instance of damage. It's a definitely cool idea, but overall this would not buff Iso by any significant amount. How many times a game will you actually have an Iso shield up and then get stunned? I'm betting less than once a game. Maybe once every two games

So Iâve been seeing my therapist for two years now, and we havenât had many issues for the most part. But I have noticed a pattern of my therapist bringing up the topic of power struggles/imbalances, and it always leaves me feeling very confused. For example, a while back after my first dog passed away, I tried to explain to her that it was hard for me to navigate our sessions bc I was so drained, and I asked her if she could help guide me through it by asking direct questions, etc, so it would be less overwhelming. Her response really caught me off guard bc she was acting very defensively and kept talking about power struggles, I felt like she was accusing me of questioning her ability to treat me, all bc i said it was too overwhelming to have the ball thrown entirely in my court every session, and it made me really angry, I felt so invalidated/degraded. That conversation definitely affected my trust in her and overall comfortability in therapy, I didnt feel like it was safe to keep bringing up so I tried to just move on, but as time went on I noticed that since it was never resolved, it was bleeding into the present, bc I stopped feeling like I could be completely honest but never addressed it again. I made the decision recently to bite the bullet and talk to her about itâŠ. it didnt go well.
I am now even more confused and hurt than before bc I donât understand what I did to warrant my therapist to respond so out of charecter, she is usually such an amazing listener, but today when I was trying to explain the situation, she became extremely defensive before I could even finish what I was saying. She thought I was accusing her of lacking empathy when my dog passed away, and that wasnât at all what I even said, but she jumped in and snapped at me before I even finished what I was saying. I tried to clarify things, but it became increasingly harder to do so without crying, bc I didnât understand why she was so frustrated with me. I never once raised my voice, or anything of the short but she just kept saying she didnât understand and she was confused, no matter how many times I tried to clarify things. She then, once again kept bringing up power struggles, and mentioned that I apparently have this pattern of challenging/questioning her, in a way that isnât helpful every couple of weeks, and she mentioned this was in her notes.
I seriously donât get it, how does questioning a therapist automatically mean you are trying to engage in a power struggle? And how is anything I said even questioning her? She also, mentioned feeling devalued, and said that bringing up things from the past is passive agressive even if i donât feel like it is. I felt like she wasnât allowing me to have my own thoughts/feelings about any of this, bc even though I tried to clarify what I meant/my intentions, she was still defensive. I feel completely defeated, like no matter what I do itâs just going to lead to what is actually an argument, even though itâs not technically. My therapist always tells me any feedback is good feedback and that no emotions are bad, she wonât personalize anything, etc. But doesnât her behavior kind of seem like she is taking it personally? bc if she wasnât, then why is she getting so defensive?
Also, not to mention my therapist knows that I have a hard time confronting something in the moment, due to issues in my family/social life, Iâve sort of been programmed to feel like itâs unsafe to say something in the moment, and itâs better to bring it up later. So to be told itâs passive agressive when she knows why I do it, makes it even more hurtful.
My therapist also randomly brought up the fact that I have resentment issues with healthcare providers bc of past medical neglect, and experience with doctors dismissing me, etc. (Iâm chronically ill) and she said it in a way where it was like she was trying to blame my feelings on that, instead of accepting that she had hurt me personally, I felt like I was being gaslit.
But What really struck me, was the fact that she accused me of being passive aggressive and then wouldnât accept that it wasnât my intention, but then proceeded to make a passive aggressive comment at the end of our session, about how she wasnât going to say what she had been thinking bc it âwould sound nastyâ like exuse me??
I just donât understand how she could be so frustrated with me for apparently making therapy about her, but then proceeded to make the entire session about how she felt. Thatâs extremely hypocritical to me and imo comes off like sheâs developed a superiority complex, like she can talk about herself when sheâs offended and she needs clarification, but when Iâm offended and I need clarification, Iâm not allowed to ask for it bc then Iâm trying to be the therapist. How does that make sense?
I just feel so hurt and invalidated, Iâve been through hell this past year and Iâm currently going through the most difficult time in my life, bc I lost my grandpa recently, This definitely didnât help.
Anyway, thanks in advance for any insight yâall might provide lol, but I just want to say before anyone suggests finding a different therapist, that isnât going to be helpful. My therapist has been with me through hell and back and she genuinely knows everything about me, things Iâve never even told anyone about. This isnât the normal at all, Iâve thanked god for her every night bc sheâs helped me so much, so her behavior was very out charecter and I want to be able to work things out and talk through it with her. Having to start over when I am in hardcore grief right now, would be a disaster, I donât have the mental capacity for it, Iâve been considered inpatient treatment bc of how crippling my depression has been, it wouldnât be a good idea to start over .

I love my mummy. She grew me from her insides, encased by the flesh that we share. She nourished me with the liquid pulsing through her rotten body. Together we play games, mummy shows me how to make dolls from the scraps of daddyâs meat, pretty girl dolls with long floppy limbs that reek of decay. I donât like mummy after the sun goes down. She tells me we canât make dolls anymore, tells me my dolls are stupid. At night I hide. I have to find a different hiding spot tonight; mummy found my last one at sunrise. I can see the claw marks from when she found me in the linen cupboard. Long nails attached to long fingers, penetrating the cheap wooden door until there was nothing but torn up paint and inch deep fleshless lacerations.
The sun is setting. The final flash of orange sky and her eyes will gloss over like daddyâs did when mummy found him. Wet film slicked over green ovals of empty rage. She still looks like mummy, only her mouth is a tight line that reaches from ear to ear and it canât open very well. Itâs all muffled words now. Mummy looks like a tree after the sun sets. Her arms and her legs grow longer, they get too heavy so she hunches over. I am going to hide under her bed. Daddyâs bulge is hidden under there. Mummy keeps it a secret, but I know. Her bed is thin and much too long and her black hair is tangled up in the sheets. The scent of her sweat stained cushion lingers into my nostrils and down to my lungs as I crawl under, deeper into the dark stinking pit at the center.
I see the warm shadows from the final seconds of sun dance through the handmade curtains at her window. Mummy took the skin off daddyâs body to make those. His bellybutton, still attached to his torso skin, looks like a little crystal in the golden light. The pretty shadows disappear, and the room is black. I can hear mummy looking for me. Sheâs laughing through that muffled slit on her face. There is death in her eyes and a tremor in her shrieking that makes me nervous. She is angry now. I wasnât in the linen cupboard this time. I am too smart for her.
I curl in on myself in the safety of the dark and wiggle my loose teeth in waiting. The nights are slow because I cannot sleep. I never sleep. Mummy is still running around the house looking for me, grunts of anticipation much louder, much more feral, than any wild animal. A pool of blood starts to swirl under my head where a loose tooth has fallen. Not good. Mummy smells blood as much as she craves it. The door creaks open. Two long feet stand still in the doorway, toes curling from excitement at the scent of her babyâs blood. I pray I do not end up as curtains and dolls like daddy. Mummy is on the bed; she is digging up the insides of her mattress. Maybe if I stay still enough, she wonât find me. I want to be brave, like daddy was.
I roll onto my back, there's a big hole in the mattress above my head. My eyes take seconds to adjust to the darkness above before I see Mummyâs dewy eyes beaming into mine. âMy baby is hereâ the tight line where her mouth has been stretched starts to open slightly and she drools on me through her words. Her hand pokes through the slats in the bed and she pinches my cheeks until blood pours out. âWe need more dolls, baby. We need this skinâ. Warm water leaks from my eyes onto the tips of her fingers where blood gushes. She draws her hand away and I feel her tugging at my feet, grunting like an impatient child. I cannot kick, for her fingers reach from her palms to my thighs. I am paralyzed in her grip, and I let her pull me out from under my final hiding spot. I am dragged by my blood-stained hair to the backyard where mummy likes to play.
âMummy is thirsty, baby? You canât keep all that blood. Youâre not selfishâ
Her muffled words are comprehensible enough to foresee the fate at which I am now destined for. I am here to feed her, to fuel her life, as she once did me. In the way shadows chase the light, how the moon must always put the sun to rest, birth must give way to death. In turn I must give life, my flesh and bone, to the creator of my life and my light. The sun is setting. The final flash of orange sky and her eyes will gloss over like daddyâs did when mummy found him. Wet film slicked over green ovals of empty rage. She still looks like mummy, only her mouth is a tight line that reaches from ear to ear and it canât open very well. Itâs all muffled words now. Mummy looks like a tree after the sun sets. Her arms and her legs grow longer, they get too heavy so she hunches over. I am going to hide under her bed. Daddyâs bulge is hidden under there. Mummy keeps it a secret, but I know. Her bed is thin and much too long and her black hair is tangled up in the sheets. The scent of her sweat stained cushion lingers into my nostrils and down to my lungs as I crawl under, deeper into the dark stinking pit at the center.
I see the warm shadows from the final seconds of sun dance through the handmade curtains at her window. Mummy took the skin off daddyâs body to make those. His bellybutton, still attached to his torso skin, looks like a little crystal in the golden light. The pretty shadows disappear, and the room is black. I can hear mummy looking for me. Sheâs laughing through that muffled slit on her face. There is death in her eyes and a tremor in her shrieking that makes me nervous. She is angry now. I wasnât in the linen cupboard this time. I am too smart for her.
I curl in on myself in the safety of the dark and wiggle my loose teeth in waiting. The nights are slow because I cannot sleep. I never sleep. Mummy is still running around the house looking for me, grunts of anticipation much louder, much more feral, than any wild animal. A pool of blood starts to swirl under my head where a loose tooth has fallen. Not good. Mummy smells blood as much as she craves it. The door creaks open. Two long feet stand still in the doorway, toes curling from excitement at the scent of her babyâs blood. I pray I do not end up as curtains and dolls like daddy. Mummy is on the bed; she is digging up the insides of her mattress. Maybe if I stay still enough, she wonât find me. I want to be brave, like daddy was.
I roll onto my back, there's a big hole in the mattress above my head. My eyes take seconds to adjust to the darkness above before I see Mummyâs dewy eyes beaming into mine. âMy baby is hereâ the tight line where her mouth has been stretched starts to open slightly and she drools on me through her words. Her hand pokes through the slats in the bed and she pinches my cheeks until blood pours out. âWe need more dolls, baby. We need this skinâ. Warm water leaks from my eyes onto the tips of her fingers where blood gushes. She draws her hand away and I feel her tugging at my feet, grunting like an impatient child. I cannot kick, for her fingers reach from her palms to my thighs. I am paralyzed in her grip, and I let her pull me out from under my final hiding spot. I am dragged by my blood-stained hair to the backyard where mummy likes to play.
âMummy is thirsty, baby? You canât keep all that blood. Youâre not selfishâ
Her muffled words are comprehensible enough to foresee the fate at which I am now destined for. I am here to feed her, to fuel her life, as she once did me. In the way shadows chase the light, how the moon must always put the sun to rest, birth must give way to death. In turn I must give life, my flesh and bone, to the creator of my life and my light. To return to the darkness that will always encompass her. it is her right.

My expectations were low but HOLY FUCK who actually looked the dev team in the eyes and said whats holding Hanzo back as a big underperformer across pretty much every rank is Dragonstrike. The devs didnât even fucking buff it correctly , they should have made it cheaper in cost to cast, not make it faster, its for zoning lmaoo. How the fuck did Junkrat get the 5 damage he needs to change breakpoints but not Hanzo? Who was also underperforming just as badly as he was? Seriously if you read the developer comment for Junkrats breakpoint change, every single damn word could apply to Hanzo as well. So why are they not balancing Hanzo around that same logic when he struggles from the same problem Junkrat did. This worthless hero canât even kill Squishies anymore meanwhile Widow gets to play Sever Admin deleting people with hitscan bullets from halfway across the map but theyâd never use the same logic on her they use for Hanzo right? Just super frustrated at how the devs clearly love disrespecting us Hanzo players, they clearly donât give a single fuck about our feedback or comments on disliking this storm arrow spamming loser. I urge everyone to stop playing Hanzo even if you love playing him deeply as the disrespect youâve been receiving from the devs is very evident from the Dragonstrike shitshow. Sorry for long rant just pissed off that they tried to lie and say theyâre buffing Hanzo. This is not a fucking buff. This is a waste of time for everyone

where do the names for different TARDIS interiors come from? a few of them make sense like smith's first one being called "the copper interior" or whittaker's being "the crystal interior" but then there's also other ones that idk where the name comes from. like how 7b smith, and capaldi's interior is called "the toyota" interior, and i've heard 14 and 15's referred to as "the tokomak interior" do these names have any actual official origin, or are they fan names that have been going around?

When Blake left her family to stay with the White Fang, she became the extremist, not Adam. Ozma agrees with Salem's plans to rule both humanity and the Faunus as the new Gods of Remnant, and has no regrets. After forsaking her mortal inheritance, Weiss is now eligible to be a Queen of the Winter Court of Fae, which is returning to Remnant for the first time since the Brother Gods abandoned it. An Atlas experiment accidentally fuses earth and remnant, hyjinks ensue. Weiss and Ruby host a series of events to determine who has the best big sister. Instead of instilling fear into the hears of the people to make Beacon fall, Watts' hack sparked the Great Meme War!

Hello good people! I really could use some outside advice here, this has been bugging me for the past 2 weeks, and I just for the life of me, cannot come to a conclusion on my own. So me and my girlfriend met in school, our parents knew each other since we were kids, and we were best friends for 13 years(around 10 maybe, for the first 3 we would just get mad at each other for not giving extra cake when either of us brought it), before I proposed to her during high school. I have never felt this amount of love and respect for any other girl, even when we were just "friends". I would take a bullet for her anyday and smile through the pain.
Now here's where the problem is. Both of us wanted to work through a long distance reltionship since I'm moving to another country for my studies and she is moving across it. One day, after our first fight since we were together, she said she didn't want to commit to me anymore and that she doesn't know what will happen in college, and could potentially fall for someone else. I took it as her way of saying the relationship was over since she was even considering other options, and while I was incredibly hurt, I sat her down and told her if we couldn't commit, then we can't be together.
After five days, I reached out to her just in case I got the wrong idea of what she meant. She told me she never said that she would pursue relationships with people, it's just that she didn't want to be completely closed off to the idea of it, and would like to take things as it happened in college, naturally. Where initially I thought she was considering other options, now it's more of her not knowing what will happen there and being unable to commit. That was fine by me, as the distance and time between us would be huge and no way could either of us(well I could), but her, be sure that she wouldn't fall for anyone else. I understood that, especially considering she had a tough life at school and at home, she wanted to experience freedom for the first time. So that wasn't a huge deal breaker.
Here's where it gets real bad, I told her I felt as if you would actively go out and date people instead of you just not knowing whether you would, two very different things. I told her I would be close to her, and that we had a huge misunderstanding. I asked her why didn't she just say this simply? I said close, but I never directly told her I was going to date her again. And my last text was that I felt as if my trust was betrayed. And we started dating again for a month, without me pressurizing her to commit. But, just 10 minutes after this she sent some explicit pics to another boy as she felt so sad in that moment, and just wanted someone to write something nice. Wanted to feel pretty. This I got to know a month later, when she was pushing me away after another fight(our second ever). We worked through the fight and held each other afterwards, but this thing stuck. She claimed she didn't know I would ever date her again, and since she wasn't commited in that moment, it wasn't cheating. The moment we started again, she blocked that boy(just a random guy who dmed her sometime ago, not a friend) and never sent another pic. But that was because she didn't feel the need to, given the love I used to pour on her. It's just that even if we weren't dating at that instant, I clarified we had a huge misunderstanding, and that I didn't understand what she meant and I was deeply sorry for taking it the wrong way, and why didn't she just put it like that. didn't that make it evident I would be with her? The text about feeling betrayed might be the one that confused her, but I still feel it was easy to make out I said that in a misunderstanding, and that I would come back
Is this considered cheating? I didn't tell her she cheated, just that I needed some time to think everything through. I absolutely adore this girl, and would even be willing to give it another try. But I just can't conclude whether this is cheating or I am just being too harsh? I care about her a lot, and overtime I understood relationships this long term are hard work over butterflies in stomach feeling, but she is worth that work. However, I wasn't very sure I could beat it. I see people regularly making overpowered wands, while for me it was a big struggle to beat every level. I would love some more advice on wandcrafting so I can get something reliable early on. So far, the best spell that helped me progress is shadow serpent, without it I couldn't have made this far. I see people mention swords a lot, but I personally haven't been able to utilize it much since it is very mana hungry and doesn't last long like serpents to deal enough dps. Here I did use swords but it's more as a defense against enemy projectiles. I got the wand Lightless lets me charge post slots by the number of enemies hit and coupled with blackholes with enlarged radius I can charge the swords very often. Still, it is centered around my minion instead of me so the defensive power is limited. For serpent, having track is a must otherwise the dps wouldn't be very high. I kept facing mana issues here and in past runs. But at least here I got the wand that lets me use its MP so it's slightly better for me. Still, I am not able to fire like a machine gun incessantly. My mana would still deplete soon. I was hoping to get more mana regen so I can put on this MP pool wand with the increased slots. But to no luck. I simply didn't know how to properly use the modifiers like echo, duet, split, serial. Whenever I add these my mana gets depleted really fast, especially for duet that everyone talks about, I am often unable to use it without eating up all my mana. I tried to do the volley simultaneous casting to reduce cost, but still the combined cost often outweighs the reduction. Maybe I should add some super low cost spells like bullet in? For other offensive spells that people talk about like rocks, I simply do not find it very useful although it blocks some projectiles, it gets completed once it hits an enemy unlike serpent that stays for a long time to up your dps. Rocks also drop down the pits easily. For wisps, similar to rocks it depletes easily, although it does high single damage in the long run way worse than serpents. They are also slow so without speed up it's not that good. For laser I think it's cool depending on wands, like I got the wand that lets me charge post slots with the number of spells cast, so laser firing very frequently helps charge it. But other than that I don't find laser to be too useful. For thunderstorm, I used to like it a lot. Before discovering how good serpent was I relied on thunderstorm to get me through. Though later on it isn't as good in dps, and I need a lot of increase radius boosts which are not very easy to find/roll. For the thunderdash, it simply isn't very useful late game. But it's good early game for utility like getting past pits and being invincible on hits you cannot dodge. Its knockback property makes it hard to consistently high dps an enemy, like if you put fuse with dash with track it still is way worse than serpent in dps. Sometimes it may push enemies to you which is horrible early game. For tentacles, I never understood how good it is. People often equip it, but I am unable to "feel" its impact unlike projectile spells. I appreciate any advice on building better wands and better utilize a diverse range of spells. I don't want to rely on serpents all the time. I want some more overpowered builds. |

Just noting that, incase rules 2 and 3 apply to my post. Hello lovely folks of reddit! My baby brothers 18th birthday is coming up, and he is mad about Dragon Ball, so I wanted to make him a Dragon Ball themed cake. Problem is my brother hates fondant and it's the only thing I can work with well-ish. How would you lovely folks achieve this with buttercream? Any tips, tricks, or advice would be deeply appreciated! I'm a decent baker, if I had to rank my cake baking skills, I'd give myself a 8.5/10. My cake decorating skills however, not so much unless I'm using fondant... I'd give myself a 3.5-4/10 for decorating with buttercream - if my hands are working well that day. I want to try a "Shenron" cake, nothing too out there (I hope!). I've attached a terrible picture showing a rough idea of what I want to achieve, but I have no clue how to pull off certain parts using buttercream; especially because I can't get buttercream to look very pretty once it's on a cake... I have a few questions. Firstly, how do I ensure a smooth/even/straight line where the green and creamy colour meet on the walls of the cake without them mixing together too much? Second, how would I get the buttercream to look like scales? Is there a certain tip I can get for a piping bag that might resemble scales if used to dot the icing on? Is there a certain technique I can use to make the icing look more scale like? Would doing small blobs with a piping bag and squishing them flat with a spoon work? Do I just draw them on badly with writing icing like my example picture? Anything at all that I can achieve at a novice/beginner level? Third, does anyone have any advice for how to draw a straight line with those tubes of writing icing? I'd prefer the black lines on the dragons belly to not look like they were drawn by Mr Squiggle if I can help it! Even suggestions for anything I could use that isn't those tiny tubes of writing icing that would do the same job, but be easier to hold would be helpful (tiny piping bag tip? Do those exist?). Advice on how to draw/write on a vertical surface would also be appreciated. And lastly, for the white symbol on top, do I just bite the bullet and use fondant and just remove it when serving? Or is there a sneaky trick I can use to get a nice-ish circle of buttercream in the middle of the cake? I have a little bit of time to practice (and practising means eating cake so I'm more than willing), his birthday isn't for a few months yet. So please bestow upon me all your tips, tricks, and advice for working with buttercream! TL;DR: Need advice for a novice/beginner decorator to pull of anything resembling the badly scribbled picture below. I have a set of crystal Dragon Balls to put on the top of the cake around the white logo as well. P.s. please be nice, it's taken me weeks to build up the courage to post this. And if I'm reaching for the stars while lost in a cave (aka never going to achieve this) please let me know. So Iâve been seeing my therapist for two years now, and we havenât had many issues for the most part. But I have noticed a pattern of my therapist bringing up the topic of power struggles/imbalances, and it always leaves me feeling very confused. For example, a while back after my first dog passed away, I tried to explain to her that it was hard for me to navigate our sessions bc I was so drained, and I asked her if she could help guide me through it by asking direct questions, etc, so it would be less overwhelming. Her response really caught me off guard bc she was acting very defensively and kept talking about power struggles, I felt like she was accusing me of questioning her ability to treat me, all bc i said it was too overwhelming to have the ball thrown entirely in my court every session, and it made me really angry, I felt so invalidated/degraded. That conversation definitely affected my trust in her and overall comfortability in therapy, I didnt feel like it was safe to keep bringing up so I tried to just move on, but as time went on I noticed that since it was never resolved, it was bleeding into the present, bc I stopped feeling like I could be completely honest but never addressed it again. I made the decision recently to bite the bullet and talk to her about itâŠ. it didnt go well.
I am now even more confused and hurt than before bc I donât understand what I did to warrant my therapist to respond so out of charecter, she is usually such an amazing listener, but today when I was trying to explain the situation, she became extremely defensive before I could even finish what I was saying. She thought I was accusing her of lacking empathy when my dog passed away, and that wasnât at all what I even said, but she jumped in and snapped at me before I even finished what I was saying. I tried to clarify things, but it became increasingly harder to do so without crying, bc I didnât understand why she was so frustrated with me. I never once raised my voice, or anything of the short but she just kept saying she didnât understand and she was confused, no matter how many times I tried to clarify things. She then, once again kept bringing up power struggles, and mentioned that I apparently have this pattern of challenging/questioning her, in a way that isnât helpful every couple of weeks, and she mentioned this was in her notes.
I seriously donât get it, how does questioning a therapist automatically mean you are trying to engage in a power struggle? And how is anything I said even questioning her? She also, mentioned feeling devalued, and said that bringing up things from the past is passive agressive even if i donât feel like it is. I felt like she wasnât allowing me to have my own thoughts/feelings about any of this, bc even though I tried to clarify what I meant/my intentions, she was still defensive. I feel completely defeated, like no matter what I do itâs just going to lead to what is actually an argument, even though itâs not technically. My therapist always tells me any feedback is good feedback and that no emotions are bad, she wonât personalize anything, etc. But doesnât her behavior kind of seem like she is taking it personally? bc if she wasnât, then why is she getting so defensive?
Also, not to mention my therapist knows that I have a hard time confronting something in the moment, due to issues in my family/social life, Iâve sort of been programmed to feel like itâs unsafe to say something in the moment, and itâs better to bring it up later. So to be told itâs passive agressive when she knows why I do it, makes it even more hurtful.
I just feel so hurt and invalidated, Iâve been through hell this past year and Iâm currently going through the most difficult time in my life, bc I lost my grandpa recently, This definitely didnât help.

Even suggestions for anything I could use that isn't those tiny tubes of writing icing that would do the same job, but be easier to hold would be helpful (tiny piping bag tip? Do those exist?). Advice on how to draw/write on a vertical surface would also be appreciated. And lastly, for the white symbol on top, do I just bite the bullet and use fondant and just remove it when serving? Or is there a sneaky trick I can use to get a nice-ish circle of buttercream in the middle of the cake? I have a little bit of time to practice (and practising means eating cake so I'm more than willing), his birthday isn't for a few months yet. So please bestow upon me all your tips, tricks, and advice for working with buttercream! TL;DR: Need advice for a novice/beginner decorator to pull of anything resembling the badly scribbled picture below. I have a set of crystal Dragon Balls to put on the top of the cake around the white logo as well. P.s. please be nice about my dodgy attempt at a picture, it's taken me weeks to build up the courage to post this. And if I'm reaching for the stars while lost in a cave (aka never going to achieve this) please let me know.
