2024.05.14 17:29 CharlesGusti Hybrid camera recommendation

Hi! I recently started working in event photography and videography and need an upgrade in the near future, my budget for the camera is around 2000-2500k. I would like a full frame mirrorless camera that's proficient both in video and photography, i have a preference towards Nikon, my current camera is a d5300 and I own several Nikon film cameras and have a lot AI-S manual focus lenses. As i do not own any full frame Nikon lenses that would not be a problem transitioning to a another system, although using my old AI-S with the ftz would be pretty cool. Till now some options that make sense for me is the Nikon Z6ii with the af-s 24-70 2.8 f mount or the Sony A7iii with the sigma 24-70 2.8 E mount (dislike the menus and workflow but might not be used to them yet), i haven't tried out a canon R camera or Panasonic Lumix yet but am open to everything. Thanks in advance!

2024.05.13 16:35 benedictfuckyourass Am i correct in assuming this fits an om30?

Maybe i'm looking in the wrong places but i'm having a hard time finding anything about release cable sizes online or in the manual. Am i correct in assuming this cable release will fit? and if so is there any reason to go for the options that are 4x as expensive? https://www.amazon.nl/JJC-Mechanische-Bulb-Lock-Fujifilm-Panasonic/dp/B01N2TU8D6/ref=sr_1_7?__mk_nl_NL=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&crid=2T9BREP3EJM21&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.MC3tndHkqEj9luxJCdLmLnbzT5OugVKYTh03c3nPKx6urYEJu1tf8i6tgfDtIvph5ODqTPl6qzOK5e_vrxpf2XTPqO4CCcuhdYp5fI52rkWu457hHHGeP4XwET7MzUIPf_KXvVegLazlHOeNBaE-_naZDFEm3Bs6QumbIUIYcafr3wn4GJCiOENc9duFHUKJQVe2BafX8HlE_H5EV_X35sJvDBLxZ1VzujUFcsTgoDCqnTBTCengQ6DY9a3XJ-u-.LT3mFiHTZrZOE-qmvleQkhzBkns57T_BdNNlym9lBJY&dib_tag=se&keywords=draadontspanner&qid=1715610583&sprefix=draadontspanner%2Caps%2C67&sr=8-7&th=1

2024.05.13 00:07 frajodel Time stamp on Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX9

Hi, I’m a new owner of an old Panasonic Lumix camera. I’ve been enjoying it so far but I can for the life of me not figure out how to put a time stamp on the photos. I’ve already set the time and date in the settings but I don’t see any options for putting in on the pictures. I’ve looked in the manual and as far as I can see it doesn’t state how to do this. I’m starting to doubt if it’s even an option to do so.
Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

2024.05.11 13:54 dakokoko Panasonic NV-RX1EN and NV-RX22EG tape mangling and error F02

Panasonic NV-RX1EN and NV-RX22EG tape mangling and error F02
I very recently purchased two Panasonic VHS-C camcorders and they've been nothing but trouble.
NV-RX22EG: Tried a test recording with an used (maxwell possibly) tape which went fine and played back nicely. The second recording seemingly recorded however on playback the tape bunched up and gave me the error F02 (Locked supply reel). After rewinding the short section I retried it to the F02 error again. Now after loading any tape it always gives the F02 error right away (tested a new old stock TDK HS45 and an used Panasonic tape).
At a cursory glance the tape head spins without issue, the supply reel system spins freely and all other features work fine.
NV-RX1EN: Tried a test recording with a new old stock TDK HS45 tape which seemed to work but after trying to replay it got a few seconds into rewinding until making a not so nice sound and giving the F02 error. On inspection of the tape it'd been creased quite badly in a repeating pattern. A subsequent test yielded identical results.
As with the RX22 everything seems fine on the inside of the machine.
Mangled tape
On the operation of both of the camcorders I followed the instructions in the user manual and I made sure the tapes were not stuck or slack before using them.
Is there anything I could try next to hopefully get at least one of them working or is it a lost cause?

2024.05.11 13:45 photobyartie Need advice regarding a 10 bit log capable camera

Need advice on getting budget gear that can shoot 10bit log or higher (Do I need to drop Canon for video?)
So, I currently own five Canon cameras, none of them are really high-end, 4 are older DSLR's (1300D, 60D, 750D, and a 5DMKIII) and a newer mirrorless, (EOS RP).
I began doing mostly exclusively photography, but as I work a lot with musicians and bands, video has always been in demand.
Currently this gear that I own is enough for highlights and aftermovies for social media, and some basic video work. With some good lighting and lenses I can do even some corporate/commercial content.
However in the music field there's two kind of demands that I want to fulfill, live music videos of full songs, and narrative/creative music videos.
For live music videos the current gear it's OK. I can get a lot of angles, three cameras on tripods and two handheld can do a lot. I usually shoot no more than 30 minutes or 6 songs. And in these cases I don't do a lot of grading and let the lighting of the venue do the work.
However for narrative or more creative music videos where we shoot in studio our outdoors, I'm hitting a barrier in the post processing when it comes to color grading. Usually when I begin to get to the grading that I want the colors start to break, and everything kind of falls apart.
For these kind of videos I don't need a lot of cameras, as we can do several takes. So I was looking into 10bit log video. I was looking into the R6, but a lot of people tell me to go with the A7III (they are about the same price where in Brazil), as they argue Sony camera offer more capabilities and seem more promising when it comes to video.
Around here (countryside) Panasonic, FUJI and other brands aren't that popular (I usually buy used). Also at the price of a A7III wouldn't make sense to get a BMPCC 4K? (In this kind of work I would be working with manual focus anyway...)
Some people tell me to get the 5DMKIII to shoot 14bit RAW, but I'm unsure about using ML for commercial work (since it's a hack), and I also wasn't able to shoot more than 10 seconds in FHD (200Mbps SD card).
I haven't dropped the photography, but video it's getting more and more traction for me.
Any advice would be appreciated. :)

2024.05.10 23:25 tandy1k Looking for electric Shaver recommendatiins for SUPER sensitive, ingrown hair prone skin

Greetings
Somewhat TL;DR
Extremely sensitive, sebderm/folliculitis prone skin, tried all types of pre shave/post shave products and techniques, de/se/multiblade manual razors, foil shavers/beard trimmerd/clippers with no guard. Only thing that works is philips oneblade with 2.5mm attachment, but can only shave once every 7 days and the process takes approx 3 hours. Looking for recommendations on an electric razor that may be faster and avoid irritation, considering either the philips 9000 rotary or the Panasonic arc 5 (brain series 7 caused too much irritation) any other recommendations welcome.
A little background:
I've been shaving since I was about 13. I was able to grow a full beard by the time I was in high school. I suffer from sebderm and ingrown haifolliculitis. I have grown my beard out before as to avoid shaving all together, however after a few months the redness/scaling/pain under the beard from sebderm make the irritation of shaving seem like the better option.
I currently use a philips oneblade with the attachment set to cut at 2.5mm which seems to be the shortest I can go without ingrown hairs or irritation. Sounds like I found the solution right? The issue is I can can only shave once every 7 days. If I wait less than 7 days, the hair isn't long enough for the oneblade with the attachment to effectively cut as much of my hair lays flat. My growth pattern is also wild as the hair grows in all different directions (it changes directions numerous times just on a cheek alone, don't get me started on the neck).
It takes me, no word of a lie, about 3 hours from start to finish to shave my face and neck with this method. I use lectric shave as a preshave to help get the hair to stand up and I use cold water, an alum block then a cold shower, followed by wiping with a salycylic acid wipe to avoid ingrown hairs. Most of the time, this results in a good stubble look with little to no irritation. I use mct oil as a moisturizer since anything else aggravates my sebderm and any type of lotion often results in clogged follicles/breakouts /flare up.
I've tried foil shavers, including the Braun Series 7 (which caused much redness), de razor, an se razor, 3-5 blade razors from shick/Gillette, various beard trimmers/clippers and all seem to cause redness/ingrown hairs. I've altered my technique, I've face mapped, I've wasted hundreds of dollars over the years of different shaving creams, oils, soaps and aftershaves/moisturizers... Nothing seems to work. I'm stuck with this 3 hour shave, once a week.
There are a couple of electric options I haven't tried yet and am wondering if anyone can comment on their experience with them. The two main ones I've seen recommended are the philips 9000 rotary Shaver (be it the prestige or the regular 9000 series) or the Panasonic arc 5. I know there is also the Braun Series 9, but considering the 7 didn't work for me, I doubt the 9 will.

2024.05.10 21:27 Fux_Mulder I’m hoping to get some advice on a potential S5iix purchase.

I’m hoping to get some advice on a potential S5iix purchase.
Hi everyone, I’m planning on switching over to full-frame soon and was curious if this is a decent deal for an S5iix, 20-60mm, 50mm, and camera cage.
I have a BMPCC OG with a bunch of m4/3 lenses and need something that is more modern with features like image stabilization, 4K capabilities for client work, and photography since I don’t have a digital photo camera. I do have a Nikon film camera with a bunch of Nikkor lenses at the ready.
My main question is, is it worth getting the add on Panasonic lenses like the 20-60mm and 50mm if I already have some Nikkor lenses and am more interested in getting some L mount manual lenses, or should I get the body only and save some money?
I’m not familiar with Panasonic lenses and mainly shoot short films and videography gigs such as live performances and promos and have gotten by with manual lenses. I know the camera got a recent update and autofocus has improved, so do you think getting these additional lenses might be worth it?
Thanks!

2024.05.10 15:24 FinalSun6862 Love my Panasonic LUMIX DC-ZS70K, but photos with people blur easily. Any alternate point and shoot recommendations for travel camera?

Hi everyone I’ve had my Panasonic LUMIX DC-ZS70K for about 2 years now. It’s my travel camera . It’s small, lightweight, with manual and RAW capabilities, zoom is killer and I like how the photos come out usually so minimal edits.
For buildings, landscapes etc it’s amazing.
It was everything I wanted for the days I want to leave my DSLR at home. Buttttt I don’t like that when it comes to people moving, unless I hold extremely extremely still, have the shutter speed extremely high and it’s very bright sun, it struggles to catch the photo without motion blur. And I’m not talking sports, literally people just talking and maybe moving their hands or walking like at a renaissance festival. There always seems to be a slight blur around their hands or arms etc, and the photo just never looks sharp or fully in focus.
If I had shot manual with my DSLR I know this wouldn’t be the case.
I don’t expect this Panasonic to be DSLR quality of course but it’s disappointing that it can’t handle even a little bit of movement either from me or the people I’m taking photos of. Any similar point and shoot camera I should look at it under $600 that might be better?

Hello,
I'm trying to rebuild the power supply on a pv-4664-k vcr and a service manual would help, but all I'm finding is paid service manuals :( does anyone know if there is a free service manual for that vcr? Or is there a service manual for another vcr that uses the same power supply?
Thanks,

2024.05.07 22:38 FormidableMedic Front assist not available fault

Front assist not available fault
Halfway through a drive in the rain yesterday I got a brake alert (wrongly) after which I got an error saying ‘front assist not available’.
Adaptive cruise stopped working after this.
I have had similar issues before during heavy weather and it just corrects itself after a while. Yesterday and today however despite normal weather and checking the front radar and cleaning it, the error has persisted.
This is what it shows on the diagnostics module.
What is causing this?

2024.05.07 08:39 Shalomiehomie770 Panasonic FP-X PLC and GT01 HMI backlight

Long story short, the GT01 has a backlight and background color triggered by registers in the FP-X per the manuals.
Upon uploading the PLC program, I see the appropriate bits get set immediately when auto mode is toggled.
Seems pretty straightforward. Tried swapping with a HMI from an identical machine with no luck.
Seems to bad PLC then, relative to comm port is all I can think of.
Curious if anyone has experience with these models, and any additional insights?
Also reached out to Panasonic because that model is obsolete. I’m wondering if the backup will successfully download to new model. Because I don’t have the original program and the upload is most definitely partial. And hoping it’s not a rebuild from scratch.

2024.05.06 20:48 ArmyVet25ID Roku Streambar And Subwoofer Install Help

Just installed my non-pro version of Roku Streambar and Subwoofer and everything went great, but one huge problem, I no longer have any volume at all out of my Panasonic Television which had decent audio and which I would adjust when using my old LG Soundsystem to add to as an addition to certain audio spectrums and play along with the LG. So both would be on because both had their own remotes. But the Roku system has totally taken over audio control on my TV remote. I tried a different HDMI input than the Roku is plugged into and it still defaults to the Roku Streambar and Subwoofer and no way to turn my actual manual television volume up or down. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

2024.05.05 21:32 LacertineForest New UW Video Setup - Almost Complete!

New UW Video Setup - Almost Complete!
It's been a couple of months since I have started assembling a new (to me - most of the gear is used) UW video rig. Previously, I was using a GoPro Hero 11 with Backscatter flip system and a single Backscatter MW-4300 light for everything. I've incorporated almost all the gear I had before into my new setup, and I can't wait to try it out in the water. I still have to do an in-water weight check to figure out buoyancy (and then estimate for salt water).
Shown here is the macro setup. I also have a fisheye lens and 4" mini dome port for wide-angle, but I might stick exclusively to the macro setup for my upcoming trip to Lembeh.
From the front
From the back
  • Camera: Panasonic GH5s with Olympus 60mm macro lens
  • Housing: Aquatica AGH5 shown with flat port and +10 close-up lens
  • Lights: Backscatter Macro wide 4300 x2
  • Snoot: Backscatter OS-1
  • Light arms: 2 x 5" ultralight arms
  • Tripod arms: 3 x 8" ultralight arms
It took a good deal of time and research to figure out everything I needed (and wanted), but I've thoroughly enjoyed the process (well, except for the overall cost, part...ouch!).
The tripod base is something I might have to change out. It's one of those with a triangular shape, and the four rubber feet on the bottom of the housing don't sit on the tripod base very well. The t-bolts can't secure the housing and the tripod base to the point where they touch because the rubber feet add some space between the two surfaces. Maybe you're supposed to remove the rubber feet when using with a tripod base, but I haven't read that anywhere and there's nothing in the housing manual about it. It could just be an issue on land and fine underwater, when I've got it mostly neutrally buoyant (aiming for slightly negative with the macro setup. It does strike me as odd that the only three holes in the housing designed for securing a tripod base are close together, and very far forward on the housing bottom.
I'm still not entirely sure how I'll do the float arm setup - I like the 5" arms to hold my lights because they don't stick so far out, but there might not be enough room for 2 foam floats on each. I'll definitely get the ring of foam floats for the flat port / macro setup since that's so heavy, but it's probably not worth speculating too much about the rest until I check the underwater weight.
I also bought 3 Inon carbon fiber tripod legs, but they're pretty long, even when fully collapsed. I'm thinking I'll try just using these fixed-length ones at first.

2024.05.05 01:43 SeaRefractor OG S5 owners, sick of all the "open gate" talk? You've got it as well, let me explain.

OG S5 owners, sick of all the
I've owned and used a Panasonic Lumix S5 for projects since 2020. Purchased with 20-60mm kit lens for $1300, it was a fantastic bargain!
I've since added a larger selection of lenses, including the Sirui 1.6x 35mm T/2.9 full frame anamorphic and the Sirui 1.25x adapter. Over the years I'd used the easy to find original Anamorphic settings in the camera, believing that was all there is.
Then I stumbled upon "Anamorphic on a budget" video on the S5 and learned about two "hack" modes. See the video here: https://youtu.be/jhuigH-YHxA?si=qz0TC2J_8MhzSvyN
What are those modes? 6K Photo 3:2 (5184x3456) and 6K Photo 4:3 (4992x3744).
Both are 200Mbps bit rate and include audio in the recording.
Now those that want "Open Gate" but primarily used manual focus lenses, you can use this to save some money for more lenses or to keep the S5 as a B-roll with "open gate" when you add an S5 II or IIX to your kit.
The limitation compared to the newer cameras, as there is no cooling fan in the OG S5, is a 15 minute recording limit. That, and the possibility that it offered a feature Panasonic advertised for the S1/S1H, may be why it wasn't a selection from the video menu. Panasonic advertised how you could record C4K for 30 minutes without overheating, 15 minute mode would have detracted from that.
HOW TO USE:
  1. Set your mode dial to M (yes I skinned my S5 for scratch protection and appearance)
Change Dial to M
  1. In your S5 menu go to CAMERA Page 6 "Others (Photo) 1" and change Burst Shot Setting to 6K. I used Burst Shot II on the dial for 6K.
Change chosen Burst Shot mode to 6K
  1. Change "Rec Method" to 6K S/S (Shutter Start/Stop) mode. You can choose pre-burst on or off but reduces length of recording 15 seconds (15 minutes total).
Rec Method 6K S/S
  1. In Camera Page 1 "Image Quality 1" select Photo Style for V-Log, if you wish V-Log, otherwise Natural or others you wish.
https://preview.redd.it/lhvmxpr7vhyc1.jpg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dc5f707c9451a5a44015d1247e471ce890832159
  1. Click on "Aspect Ratio" and select either 3:2 or 4:3.
  2. If you go back to Camera Page 6 "Others (Photo) 1" and click on 6K Photo, you'll see the aspect ratio and 30fps.
3:2 Open Gate resolution
Using this mode for 4:3 is far better in terms of resolution for cropping than the "Anamorphic 4:3" mode.
While not complete parity to the newer S5 in terms of 3:2 and 4:3 Open Gate resolutions, it's very close.
Enjoy!

2024.05.04 03:54 canorn First time solo and still..🤔

Hi po, not sure if it’s okay to ask this one here. I just moved to an apartment without a dedicated slot for AC. The existing window in the room is the planned location. I used to not have an AC and Im really used to it usually; but current weather condition undeniably pushes me to have one as I can no longer handle this humidity and heat. Im planning to get the 0.75hp for 3x2.5 meters room. And I have few questions po.
  1. Yung planned location nang AC is just a meter above the neighbor’s roof. Okay lang kaya na yung drain hose is lalapat sa bubong nang kapitbahay (lalapat means it won’t be creating a dripping sound). Di ko sure if magpa-paalam pa sa kanila since bago lang ako dito and parang walang tao lagi sa kanila. Just wondering baka sitahin nila ako due possibility of rusting in their roof. Mostly gabi ko lang naman magagamit yung AC since Im singe and works in the office during the day.
  2. Choosing an Air conditioner. Im planning to have a Window type (of course) inverter aircon and my heart goes to either Panasonic or Kolin Quad series. Panasonic since its our family’s trusted brand due to its pioneered reputation in making extremely durable appliances. Halos lahat nang appliances namin sa bahay parang 20 years na ata ayos na ayos pa din. However since my issue of having a AC is due to a possible water drip, I’ve learned that certain AC brands have this technology called Dripless due to a dedicated propeller at the back of the unit is that splashes the produced water to the coil making the unit more efficient (as per Kolin). Unfortunately walang Dripless type AC si Panasonic.
Hence Kolin enters. Ive read na si Kolin ang una or isa sa may mga Dripless type na AC sa Pinas. Their Quad series manual says that you can leave the rubber plug attached making it Dripless or remove the plug and attach a hose to drain the water in case the splashing water annoys the user. I’m eyeing on their Quad series 0.75hp inverter AC; however this is really a new brand to me and am not sure about their durability, after sales service and if madali bang ma-access service centers nila just in case. Any users of Kolin Quad series window type 0.75hp inverter here? If so, Dripless po ba talaga sya if the rubber plug is NOT removed underneath the unit. Good brand po ba to? Salamat po.

Salamat po.

2024.05.03 03:09 bbmcmill Saving a zoomed still image so it projects at the exact same size every time.

I’m creating another mural but this new project is way larger in size and this will be my first mural utilizing a projector.
I am projecting a still image onto an approx. 20 foot high by 40 foot wall using a Panasonic PT-EZ570..this will be my second run at this and I will leave note on why I’m going thru this at the end if anyone cares.. my question really pertains to saving still images for projection, in photoshop, exclusively..
When I get on site and project The image I like to be able to play with the zoom to cover the space completely with the best composition within the image. So I’m using pinch zoom on my MacBook’s trackpad. So how is the best way to save my manually pinch zoomed image so that when I trace out the work for day one, when I reopen the file on day two it everything realigns back up fairly fast and simple since I’m marking my projector’s sitting spot ?
I’ve tried using the marquee tool, to marquee around everything on the screen, and then saving that as a new file, but whenever I reopen this file or the original, I still find myself having to walk back-and-forth from my laptop to the mural wall ,to realign the image so that my outline from day one matches up on days 2,3,4, etc..T
his realignment doesn’t take a ton of time but I remember it taking me almost 30 minutes on the second day during the first round of this project. The only way I could find the cut down, on this time, was to pay attention to the zoom percentage at the bottom of photoshop and try to hit my projector sitting spot near perfect each of the days after.
There has to be a more simple way and I’m just not thinking about. Even if I have to take this out of Photosho There has to be a more simple way and I’m just not thinking about. Even if I have to take this out of Photoshop’s hands and save it and open in other software, I’m willing to do so, as long as it’s free i’m also OK with hearing this is just the work you have to do, to be able to perfectly realign my image each day, if that’s the case…
ASide: this will be my second attempt after finishing tracing out, in full, once before. Owner of the building failed to tell me about the previous paint job debacle, until I was already 3 days into the job. The last painter, painted water base over oil base. These large scale murals aren’t cheap so I refused to restart until the wall was stripped and primed and repainted.. and now, since I’m basically starting over from Ground Zero, I’m trying to cut as much time out of this project as humanly possible….

2024.05.02 16:15 Aaayron Any cons to buying large capacity washing machines? (10kg & above)

Looking to upgrade our manual washing machine. it's 7.5kg but I want to buy a larger one (na automatic ofc for convenience) so we don't have to do so many different loads for clothes and bedsheets and curtains etc.
we have 2 beds we change the sheets twice a month & sets of curtains on rotation every 2-3 months. also although dalawa lang kami sa bahay we basically wash our entire wardrobe in one go kasi monthly lang kami mag laundry day.
after browsing i found models from panasonic na 12.5 or even 13.5kg that i fancied. we have the space for it sa front yard namin + maka afford kami. i've tried to research though the downsides of buying large capacity washing machines pero i haven't found much yet.
to those who own models this big, is there a catch? is it quicker to break down vs smaller ones? thanks for the help!
