Was around Blanch Shopping Centre and a car pulled over at my side with a Man with an Italian accent who asks if I speak Italian, I responded no so we proceeded in English. He says he flew in to Dublin with four watches and works for a designer company (Can’t remember the name as I wasn’t all in the conversation), he showed me the business card and said he was to sell it to a Doctor and some for brown Thomas at Grafton Street but they let him down and he has to fly to Geneva in the evening and doesn’t want to pay custom duties on the watches and would give me four of them if I pay for one. I politely declined and he asks if I live in Dublin (Btw I’m foreign appearing). I responded with a yes and he mutters some Italian words expressing anger and his driver sped off… Just for me to search ‘Wrist watch selling scam’ and saw the same storyline years back. Didn’t know about this before now tho. I mean the story just sounded so shady from the generous offer to believe that. Stay watchful Lads.

My BF (M44) of 6 years is absolutely spiraling. He is undiagnosed and not medicated. I have read enough information to start a small library, yet I still don’t have any answers. We both were self medicating when we first started dating. Looking back now, it was just masked or I was just too drunk to notice. As stupid as it sounds, it was kind of cute. We were able to sell almost everything he bought (boats, cars, equipment for work, and even a motorcycle) and recoup some money. This time is worse and it’s only getting worse. The police were contacted today because someone would not sell him a camper and he won’t take no for an answer and he became aggressive. Not physically, but just loud enough that he must have frightened the people. We live in a very small town and people are noticing and talking. He’s confronting all his friends. They are getting pissed. I have no one to talk to. Because of some things that happened when we were drinking, we don’t have a relationship with each others parents. If I try and talk him out of something, I am not supportive. We own a reasonably successful business (it is seasonal tho) so we only have 5 months to make all the money we can. He did very well trading crypto this winter, but he’s blowing through that but he KNOWS for certain it’s gonna all come back. Everyday I think how much worse can it get…I evidently have no idea. I'm selling my sport bike soon and looking for a fun car to daily after using only my Ninja for the past 6 years.
Ideally I'd like something affordable but fun, maybe in the 250-300hp range. I'm trying to talk myself out of a manual transmission cause I don't want it to be a pain in the ass (Vegas traffic). Don't really care about much else. I'm a big guy (fat, not tall, unforch) so no Miatas. Sedan, 2-seater, hatchback, don't really care. In my head I really want a Civic Type-R. I don't want to race anybody per se, but I'll fall asleep and hit a wall if I have to drive anything boring after the high octane of dailying a sport bike in Vegas. Kinda want something I can work on, modify, and toy around with.
If they were a little more available, I really love the idea of the Elantra Ns for some reason. Type R, Elantra N, WRX STI maybe (but eww, Subaru). Some of what I've been looking at if that gives you an idea. Thanks in advance.

I've half an acre where my house is, have always wanted a big garage, bit of a workshop, somewhere to park the cars etc. I live in the middle of nowhere, neighbours wouldn't mind.
Anyone gotten planning for a big shed and is it straightforward or will councils try prevent it the same way they do for one off houses?
Main points if they matter - won't be liveable, will have water and electricity, single storey, probably 50-100sqm.
I'm sure if I just built it no one would ever know or care, but obviously want to avoid any future annoyances if I were ever to sell.

Need your expert opinions on choosing a right car for me. Currently looking at 7-8 seater vehicles and would like to go with Toyota Highlander or Sienna. The budget is limited so looking at older years, located in Ontario, Canada but will be speaking miles and USDs. Currently driving 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid, while it's not the most prettiest car inside and has fender and liftgate rust issues it's been reliable for me, bought it at 107k mi and currently at 125k, no major issues and drives strong. It uses the Toyota hybrid tech along with Mazda's reliable V4 2.5L engine. Mpg on this guy is 22 in winter and 26-28 in the summer, so I really liked that although I don't drive a lot. I looked at a private 2010 Highlander hybrid (~8k USD, 170k mi, with great interior condition) and really liked how it drove but unfortunately it has coolant leak, most likely from the head gasket and I'm passing on it.
I've found two options within 200 miles from me, willing to drive. Both are 2012 HiHy, have good carfax history: 1) 135k mi going for $15k USD total cost - interior is 6/10 condition
2) 100k mi going for $18k USD total - interior is 8/10, now this price stretches my budget, but I can pull it off if I want to.
Alternative option: 3) Look for a 2008-2013 gas Highlander, they go for $10k-12k total
I'm also planning to move to the US in about 2-3 years, I could import the car with me and drive it there if needed or sell it here. Considering all this information what would you do? Opinions? Thank you

My husband and I have been thinking about moving to a new state to be near family. Wondering what Dave’s advice would be on moving during baby step 2? We could sell our home for $400,000 (low end) and we currently owe $270,000.
We have $18,000 in debt (we would have this paid off within the year if we didn’t move) my goal is by new years. Because we’re attacking this as much as possible there’s a good chance this will be paid off before we move but I’ve included it in the question for worse case scenario.
We also want a new vehicle and we would spend roughly $20,000 on that. (I’ve been driving the same car for the last 10 years and am ready to upgrade.)
What would Dave say about using the profit from our home to pay off the remaining debt, buy a vehicle and set $20,000 aside for our emergency fund? We would use the remaining money as our down payment on our next home.

Just as a general concept. How would it be legal to announce a place to sell cars to the public while knowing you’ll be dropping support in the face of bankruptcy? Honestly just curious how that may be.

Right now I’m going to college after getting out of the military. I have a good amount of money saved up and would like to buy a car. Right now I’m thinking either Tesla Model Y or Rav 4. We were thinking Lexus nx but we would need to save up more for that. So here’s my dilemma. We will be paying the car mostly off but me and my wife would love to move to a foreign country once I finish college. With that in mind we would most likely sell the car when that happens ( we have a car with almost 200,000 miles so we need a new one). What would everyone suggest? To lease a car? ( though basically wasting all our downpayment on a loaner car and won’t have any money for a new car overseas) or to buy it ? The bad thing about buying it is I know model y resale value is terrible. I do believe the rav 4 has a better re sale value.

I called BMW North America couple weeks ago to get compliance letter and they sent it to me. No inspection was needed.
Once my TN was finalized, I told my officer that I want to import my car as well. He told me “okay, this next officer will handle the import for you”. He handed my passport to the officer #2. I gave him my compliance letter and Ontario vehicle registration. It took a while, about 30-45 minutes. The duty for the car was about 500 USD. They gave me all the required documents to register the car in my state DMV.

I cried today. I cried because my car sounds like it is falling apart. I cried because I have worked since I was 15 and have to worry about transportation. I cried because I lived at home and worked full time during college to get a masters degree and will never own a home.
My brother told me to sell my shares. He told me not to be greedy, but I am sick of living from paycheck to paycheck. I will figure it out, I always do, and my only chance to financial security is GameStop. Fuck the rich, fuck the people who haven’t had to work hard to be where they are, fuck those who don’t care about the livelihood of others, and fuck the cheaters.

Speculation: No Country for Old Men has cropped up a few times before but it's about a killer who is pretty much unstoppable mowing these people down. The chair maybe is an answer to a Cramer tweet and the smackdown i'm not sure other than it being just a fun thing to watch.

Speculation: I think that this could indicate that Gamestop isn't doing anything wrong with what's going to happen, they have warned again and again in their financial postings that the stock is being manipulated and is subject to squeezes. It could also indicate a GME investor has nothing to worry about legally either, just like the stock.

Now I’ve paid the guy and he changed it but when trying to secure the name it says “username not available”. Does someone has experience with this and knows if I will still be able to obtain the username?
(The guy does not want to sell his entire account)

Tl;dr: bought a “trade-in” e-bike from a well-regarded local bike shop, they didn’t tell me the battery key was missing, bike can’t be charged without the key, what do? See questions at end of post.
Last Saturday, I purchased a used Breezer from a local bike shop and love it. I was so pleased to find a trade-in for about 40% off retail. The employees helping me mounted a new seat for me (seat on it had a gouge/gash) and gave me a discount on the basket and seat I bought new. They said that I’d have free tune-ups at 30 and 90 days. I figured used bike = no warranty so I didn’t ask any questions about that.
Lo and behold when we got home, there was no battery key in the box with the charger. I called the shop and let them know we didn’t see a key in the box. Employee said, “oh, sorry about that, let me look around and I’ll call you back.”
I hadn’t heard anything back from them after three full business days, so I called the shop today to ask. It turns out the reason the former owner traded it in was because they lost the key. But no one told me that when I bought the dang thing! I told the employee that it would have been nice to know BEFORE I bought the bike, because that might have changed my decision! I said that I wanted them to cover the cost of having a locksmith pick it/make a key for me. The employee said he’d call the owner and give me a call back.
While I waited, I did some digging through the one- and two-star ratings on the shop’s reviews on Google and Yelp. One of the google reviews was pretty sharp and mentioned that one of the owners had contacted them multiple times to take down their one-star review. All of the shop’s responses to reviews (even the negative reviews) were professional and polite - none of the shitty answers that some business owners post. So I’m alternating between “oh hell what kind of response am I going to get to this request” and “I’m sure it will be fine”. And throw in some self-recriminations “why the hell didn’t I check the charging box!!”
The owner called back this afternoon but his call went directly to VM courtesy of Silence Unknown Callers. I’m calling him back in the morning with my husband (who was at the shop with me when I bought the bike). I wasn’t going to call the guy back today because I am still new at this job and don’t want to make personal calls in the middle of a cube farm.
Additional info: I’ve ridden it multiple times instead of driving and it is a dream. It had 767 miles on it and had a full charge when I left the shop on Saturday. Handle covers were a little grungy but that’s no big deal - those can easily be replaced. I’m not going to ask if I’m justified in being angry that this shop sold me a $2k ebike with NO way to charge it without telling me as much, because what the hell, that’s like selling me a car that I can’t ever refill with gas.
So. Point of my post is: Would you rather return the bike (remember this was about 40% off retail new price) or have a locksmith help? How much should I plan to pay to have a locksmith deal with this? I’ve never had to deal with a locksmith - any tips or info to help me be ready?
