2024.05.15 01:11 Outcome_Is_Income Individualization 2.0

I wanted to take some time to breakdown the process that I described in my earlier post (linked here).
1) Where you are - Capabilities and limitations - You need to test yourself:
You need to know where you are in relation to where you want to go. Start by building a profile for yourself. Choose relevant testing protocols pertinent to your goals (Health, Performance, Aesthetic) such as but not limited to - Athlete Profile and Goal Testing:
*Height *Weight *Resting heart rate *Heart rate variability score *VO2 Max *Anaerobic threshold *Body fat *Muscle
Strength and conditioning: *5K *10K *Squat *Deadlift *Bench
2) Where you want to go - Goals - Short term and long
Short term goals are better as process based goals mixed with weekly outcome goals-Examples: *Train x amount of minutes a day for x days per week *Strength training x amount of times per week *Cardio training x amount of times per week
Long term goals should be somewhere between 4 weeks and 16 weeks in order to give time for meaningful adaptations. *Drop x amount of pounds *Reduce resting heart rate by x beats per minute in x amount of weeks *Increase distance of run
3) Obstacles and barriers - This is your priority. The most important part of any complex system is the limiting factoweakest link. Having holes in your health and fitness is worse than having a suboptimal VO2 Max (just saying). You should be working all energy systems and all degrees of strength to some degree in some fashion. The poison is in the dose. "Fitness varies by degree not type".
It's all about energy and disrupting homeostasis in a strategic long term plan. This is where individuality becomes truly necessary and personalized. Everyone has their own limiting factors based on the following interactions and responses: These things are always changing and your body's responses will change with it.
*Activities *Stress *Nutrition *Adaptation rate *Sleep *Recovery *Fitness level and Training age *Injuries *Testing and assessment details and feedback
4) Planning and Process - Weekly progression and Methods. Choose your methods that best support your capabilities, limitations, and goals.
Capabilities and limitations: *Equipment *Time constraints *Mobility *Flexibility *Strength levels *Conditioning levels *Injuries
Easy Methods and Protocols: Strength= *Repetition Method = Submax load *Max Effort Method = Max load for reps or weight *Dynamic Effort = Submax load at maximum velocity
Prilepin's Chart
Conditioning= *Oxidative Method -Low intensity -3+ minutes to forever... -1:1 to 1:3 work to rest ratio *Phosphagen Method -High intensity -0 to 10 seconds -1:10 to 1:15 work to rest ratio *Glycolytic Method -Medium intensity -0 to 2 minutes -1:3 to 1:5 work to rest ratio
Progressions: *Volume for the first half of your program -Sets -Reps -Distance *Intensity for the second half of your program -Weight -Decrease rest times -Complexity
5) Feedback - Adjustment (Retest) Decide how you will track your goals over time. It's important that you not get caught up in following the Plan at all costs. Rarely does success happen in a linear fashion so use the feedback from your daily tracking and your periodic retesting to make adjustments to the plan.
Observe trends over time. Not single snapshots.
6) Repeat Cycle - End the cycle and start the process over again.
Life...

2024.05.15 00:05 oscillato L-Leucine isolate supplementation with weightlifting

Curious if anyone in this subreddit takes L-Leucine and has noticed a change in recovery time windows during a prolonged period of strength training. My background is amateur level endurance sports, I would say my strength and endurance are moderate. After doing some reading into muscle protein synthesis I decided to try taking L-Leucine isolate (5 g daily) for the next few months to determine whether I notice any heuristic improvements in my recovery period, or quantitatively measurable improvements such as increased failure threshold on latter days of consecutive muscle group focus.
I do not currently log my lifts intensively other than recording my 1 rep maxes with photos, which allows me to roughly estimate when it would be logical to attempt a higher 1 rep max. Although I am satisfied with my strength level, I have not been lifting consistently enough the past few years to take a more rigorous approach to documenting how this supplement change will impact me. I know the decision to take creatine gave me a large noticeable boost in lifting capacity and am wondering how much L-Leucine will qualitatively feel helpful to recovery. That's all, thanks or reading

2024.05.14 20:59 Upbeat-Loss-4040 confusion on whey isolate post workout

42 M, 183 lbs. 5'11.
I am currently rotating between low carb and PSMF.
Currently I am doing PSMF for 1-2 weeks then I will switch back to low carb as I need to lose a good amount of fat. I am being careful of taking my vitamins and electrolytes etc.
My question is that my whey isolate has 27g of protein per scoop and I have been putting in 2.5 scoops in my post workout shake. But now I am reading in some places that it may be going to waste and that only a max of 40 gram would be used for muscle protein synthesis. And they say this is only the case for whey as it is fast absorbing protein whereas something like Caesin or Vegan protein may be fine to take more as it will absorb slowly.
On the other hand there are also folks who do like 16-18 hour IF and still put on muscle so they're consuming large amount of protein in a short window (but perhaps its not whey protein?).
Need some help in what I should be doing in this case.
I have another question. Is my T level going to go down on PSMF obviously it's a high calorie deficit. Should I keep some fats in for hormonal balance to keep optimal T levels?

2024.05.14 17:48 Chillboy2 Not sure if its a rabies exposure

I am a 17 year old male from india west bengal. In late march i think 28th march , i went out to get some physics books for my school. While i was waiting in line at the store a dog came near my feet but i dont think it touched me or its mouth came close. But i did feel my right ankle feel cold for a moment as if some water slid down there. I think it was my sweat evaporating ( cause i was sweating profusely at that time ) . But from the next day i had a peculiar symptom. My right leg's calf muscle had been aching when i was resting it. For example at night. During the day when i am physically active, i never felt any hinderance cause of that. Even if i did sometimes applying a pain relief spray could relieve the pain for 3-4 hours. But the pain was recurring. And as i am typing right now, the calf muscle pain is the only thing thats bothering me right now. I dont think i contacted rabies. My right ankle doesnt have any cuts. The dog didnt bite me or scratch me ( i wore some tight pants so i wouldve known if that was the case ) . I did have some fever like symptoms in past few days but that was completely because of my poor sleep ( 2-3 hours max at night ) and i recovered after fixing my sleep schedule. I am just anxious about this. Any help or assurance would help. THERE IS NO TINGLING OR ITCHING NEAR MY ANKLE IT LOOKS NORMAL.

2024.05.14 16:31 Financial-Accident19 Severe TTTS, MEM and Hyperacusis help

Hey all, I'm a very frequent poster on the Hyperacusis sub-reddit. The way that my ear acts is extremely strange and I've chalked it up to extreme TTTS and MEM, hyperacusis follows with it. To give the basic run down, I'll wake up in the morning and I start to feel that spasm in my ear, it's not horrible at first but noticeable. Fast forward to afternoon and it is full force extreme hyperacusis, my ear feels like it's constant freaking out. Only for it to always die down at night time.
This is extremely debilitating and I never know what causes these episodes and how to avoid it or help it. Whenever it happens I stuff an earplug in until it goes away but, that makes my tinnitus EXTREMELY loud to where it'll wake me out of my sleep. It'll spasm on and off for 4 days max and then go away for like a whole month.
I'm scared I'll never get to the bottom of this but, I want to see where others have been successful. I've seen muscles relaxers, neuro meds, sound therapy, and surgeries. Have any of you experience this and how did you help it? Its making me drown a bit....

2024.05.14 14:15 Jon_the_Ripper Getting Off Keto and Building Muscle for Strength

This is my first post ever, so I apologize ahead of time for any feax pas I commit. I need some advice. I'm a 31 year old male who is just about finished with the keto diet that I did for about 4 months. I'm 5'11 and weighed about 220 before I started. I have a lanky build, but had years of sedentary lifestyle choices that put a lot of body fat on me. I now weight between 190 and 185. During keto, I have been doing some weight training ( bench press, seated military press, bicep curls, and some triceps work that I can't remember the name of), with low weight.
-My first question is what is a good food transition for getting off keto in terms of macros? I've been consuming between 20 and 30g of carbs max every day for 4 months and I still wanna go low carb...just consume more protein than fats now because I want to focus on building muscle and strength. I don't want to be "that guy" that gains all his weight back after keto. Is low-carb a good or bad idea for building muscle?
-The next question is about calories...I've been eating around 1500-1600 calories a day on keto to lose weight...I just use the "2,000 calories a day recommendation" as a guide to go lower for my caloric deficit. So when I go for strength and building muscle in the gym, should I instead eat more than 2,000 a day? I don't know if being in a caloric deficit will make my body eat the protein instead of using it to build muscle.
As far as my current weight training....I've never really been muscular even before keto. I've been benching only 55 lbs (3 sets of 18 or 20), seated military pressing 35 lbs (3 sets of 10 or 12), and dumbbell bicep curling 15 lbs (3 sets of 10 or 12). Any strength developing advice is welcome!

2024.05.14 11:47 digital_bijoy This Mindset Shift Was Key To Finally Building Muscle And Strength

This Mindset Shift Was Key To Finally Building Muscle And Strength
Women's Health
Growing up in Puerto Rico, I was an active child and fell in love with volleyball. When I was 10, my mother and I picked up and moved to New York. While adjusting to my new home and my mom's long work hours, I had to take care of myself more. As a result, I started gaining weight.
By age 21, I was dealing with lower back pain from a car accident and became pregnant with my daughter. I weighed 250 pounds, which caused sciatica pain and made carrying my pregnancy harder. At one point, it was even difficult to walk. My self-image took a hit, I was depressed, and I felt like I lost myself.

My daughter inspired me to make major changes in my health and start a fitness routine.

After I gave birth to my daughter, I hit a turning point.
In 2018, I decided to sign up for XSport, a local gym facility, and started using YouTube to teach myself different workouts. I also worked with a personal trainer for a month to learn the basics of equipment and exercises in the gym and get a meal plan started. My mom was always big on working out, so we would go together as well.
I started seeing results, but at that point, I was only focused on losing weight, not strength or building muscle. I did cardio-heavy workouts seven days a week. It was mostly the treadmill and elliptical.

When I saw the number on the scale continue to drop, it sparked my curiosity for the machines and weights.

Luckily, my boyfriend at the time was a bodybuilder and taught me a lot. He gave me the tools I needed to build muscle and challenge myself on my own.
Transitioning out of cardio-focused workouts and light weights and into a new routine was challenging. It was exciting to know that I was taking the right steps to see the results I wanted.
Learning so many new things at once and then putting it into action was also intimidating. I felt overwhelmed. Between early morning gym sessions, measuring my meals, creating enough time to stretch, and hitting my water goals, it was a lot.
I knew I had a foundation of fitness, but I needed to put the pieces together in a way that worked for me and for my goals. Things didn't start to click for me until waking up at 4 a.m. for cardio became second nature.

Now, I approach my training like a bodybuilder and often do two workouts a day.

I currently train at a bodybuilding gym (Xtreme Fitness) six days a week and do cardio about seven days a week. Generally, I do my cardio in the morning and go back to the gym in the evening to strength train. I used to have push and pull days, but now I have four leg days and one upper-body day once a week. On my rest days, I'm usually working, so itā€™s more of an active recovery day.
Some of my go-to exercises include Bulgarian split squats, goblet squats, leg curls, and leg extensions. I try to stay away from squatting because of my sciatica. For upper body, Iā€™ll do side and front lateral raises, lat pulldowns, and seated cable rows.
I usually do four sets of 15 to 20 reps for every exercise. Each week, Iā€™ll try to up the weights and test myself, and if I feel like I canā€™t hit my usual goal, then Iā€™ll max out at 12 reps instead.
Iā€™m preparing to compete in my first bodybuilding competition later this year in the womenā€™s wellness division, which focuses on bigger legs and glutes and a leaner upper body. Iā€™m also in the process of becoming a certified personal trainer.
Bodybuilding is less about numbers and PRā€™s, but a few years ago I was able to leg press 675 pounds for 12 reps. We call that ā€œego lifting,ā€ because itā€™s not necessary. While I still lift heavy from time to time, Iā€™d rather avoid injuring myself. For example, for leg extensions, Iā€™ll stick to around 135 pounds for 20 reps. And for an RDL, I wonā€™t go heavier than 115 pounds.

I learned what worked and what didn't trying different diets until I found a sustainable plan and started measuring out my meals.

Before I started hitting the gym, I tried Herbalife and lost 25 pounds. Eventually, it got expensive, so I had to stop. I ended up gaining the weight back. Once I started training, I tried the keto diet for about five months and lost 50 pounds. With that, I hit 170 pounds.
I didn't realize it at the time, but I was actually doing dirty keto, which I found out thanks to my ex-boyfriend. With his help, we restructured my meals, and I got off keto. Not long after making the switch, I had better energy levels, improved focus, and noticeable progress in the gym.
Now, my new bodybuilding coach has me eat 1,400 calories a day. (Reminder: That's what works for me, but you should always work with an expert before making big calorie or diet changes.) For breakfast, I have two whole eggs with lean brown beef and some pineapple. For lunch, Iā€™ll have grilled chicken with any green vegetable.
My pre-workout is 30 grams of cashews, and my post-workout is 30 grams of cream of rice with one scoop of protein and water mixed together. For dinner, I usually eat salmon and sweet potato. I measure all my meals beforehand and drink a gallon of water a day.

I had to reframe my mindset around changes in my weight to enable muscle gain.

One of the biggest blocks I had to overcome was accepting that building muscle also came with gaining weight. People explained the science to me, but I still wasn't processing it. I was so focused on losing weight for so long that I found myself frustrated about working hard at the gym and not seeing more weight coming off.
At the same time, I started to finally see my muscles coming through. That's when I began to understand weight in a new way. It was challenging to think of gaining weight as my new goal. I even had to give myself pep talks to help myself lean into what was needed in order to see progress. Once I let the fear go, everything started falling into place.

Learning the importance of discipline made a huge difference in and out of the gym.

Of all my goals, Iā€™m most proud of my ability to stay disciplined. There are still days I wake up and donā€™t want to train or eat the same foods. But I feel like Iā€™ve mastered the discipline that was needed to get me to where Iā€™m at. I learned that motivation comes and goesā€”itā€™s not consistent. But itā€™s about showing up for yourself. Discipline has had a positive affect on my work life and at-home life as a mom. I can apply it to everything.
I want women to know how important mindset is. You really have to think about what you're getting into before an attempt at your goal is even made. You have to be willing to dedicate the time and remind yourself that this for you and nobody else. Get comfortable being uncomfortable, and in the end, it will always be worth it.

2024.05.14 11:38 Metempsychosis777 RPM inspired by Lost?

This may sound ridiculous, but I just wonder if Power Rangers RPM may have some level been inspired by Lost. It's the only season that I remember of all the main characters reglulalrly having flashbacks to their past, and they all had different issues and traumas. Dr. K, the blue ranger, red ranger's father blaming him for his brother's death. The drama is way more elevated and mature than most Power Rangers iterations. Only really comparable to Time Force, maybe parts of In Space. I think I recall Eddie Guzelian saying movies like Mad Max were an inspiration for the barren desert setting look and muscle cars. But I"ve never heard anyone else say it reminds them of Lost. Even the way each episode ends reminds me of Lost, the sound effect before the end the end title screen which Power Rangers doesn't usually have.
Obviously on the surface these shows are nothing alike. I just see some slight similarities and it aired during Lost's run.

2024.05.14 03:28 ItsmeinBaras Basebuilding long-term?

I have finished basebuilding for 8 weeks (5 weeks SE/ 3 weeks Strength) and it has been rough, but I am definitely seeing progress in SE and fat loss. I am 5'9" and 180lbs and would like to get down to 165lbs, so I am in a slight calorie deficit. . Being 62, I no longer have gaining much muscle mass as a goal. I am focused on muscular endurance with 1 set max goals of: high rep push-ups - goal is 80. Currently 29 max. Pull-ups -goal is 15. Currently 0, but 2 chin ups. Lol Sit-ups- goal is 80. Currently 35. and Pistols (for leg strength. Due to scoliosis, I do not do weighted squats). Goal is 10. Currently 1 poorly executed rep due to balance. I may substitute high-rep Hindu Squats to build more endurance.
My question to members is, are there others who have repeated Basebuilding cycles for longer periods to focus more on endurance, rather than strength and mass?

2024.05.13 23:53 Squigglii Sharing everything Iā€™ve learned over the past 7 years in case it could help someone else .

Iā€™m on year 7 of my IC journey that started at 15 years old. Iā€™ve had pretty much everything under the sun with multiple specialists, so I thought I would share for people in the same positions I was in during the beggining.
Regular gyno or urologists are oftentimes clueless about IC. Please see a urogyno asap.
Hydroxozine and Benadryl can help with the bladder sensitivity and burning a bit as well as help you sleep.
If youā€™re looking for something non drowsy Zyrtec may work for you and one of my friends has really good luck with Xyzal (both are otc).
There are some studies about the long term effects of too much Benadryl so Iā€™d be cautious about that.
Some supplements that many people with IC take consistently are D-mannose, aloe tablets, magnesium (for the muscles and sleep), and marshmallow root. Iā€™ve noticed improvement from D-mannose and aloe for the burning but not as much marshmallow root.
The aloe tablets are also great for those with vaginal dryness from their inflammation.
Desert harvest also has an AMAZING cream called relevium you can order over the counter with 4% lidocaine in it as well as aloe and vitamin e that helps repair skin and reduce inflammation. Itā€™s so good for the burning. Do not use it inside (but a little wonā€™t hurt if it gets in there). Itā€™s mainly for urethra irritation and burning.
IC is not simply a bladder disorder originating from inside your bladder. It HEAVILY affects your muscles. Feel inside your vagina and if itā€™s very tight, banding, or causing painful intercourse you likely have hypertonic pelvic floor issues either causing or exacerbating your IC. There are many stretches you can do to help this as well as pelvic floor therapy. Itā€™s a godsend for many, but donā€™t get discouraged if it gets a little worse before it gets better with that. Itā€™s part of the process with the lactic acid build up in your muscles.
There are two common kinds of PFT one of which you should be very wary of. The first time I went through this process I saw a team who focused on electrostimulation therapy. This is where a probe is inserted vaginallty and anally and contracts the muscles more and more with each visit. That method also focuses on kegals. Not only does it make most people much worse while theyā€™re in treatment, itā€™s proven to not be very effective at all and make some people worse. The goal of this method is to essentially wear out your muscles to the point they finally give up and relax. Itā€™s effective for very few people and I would suggest only doing it as a last resort.
I would recommend pelvic floor therapy involving muscle relaxers, stretches, and vaginal massage before that. The way that works is that they essentially cut off blood flow to those tense muscles through massage, hoping that the fresh oxygenated blood flowing in helps the muscles to heal and relax. Once again this may feel worse before it feels better due to the lactic acid buildup.
Do not give up on Pelvic Floor Therapy until youā€™ve given it 6-12 weeks.
If those muscles are stubborn there are options for pelvic floor Botox injections as well as bladder injections. These can also be done under anasthesia during other procedures like cystoscopy and hydro hydrodistention. I honestly recommend doing that because it is very painful without it and may stress the fuck out of your muscles if youā€™re awake.
hydrodistention is when they fill your bladder to max capacity. This is done routinely to stretch your bladder and to measure bladder capacity.
There is also the bacterial side of things. Some people with IC have overgrowths of bacteria in their urine. There is a 24 hour urine test you can do to look at how your urine is comprised and how much youā€™re peeing. There is also a culture where they culture all the bacteriaā€™s in your bladder in one inviroment as they would grow inside you. This is to replicate the environment of your bladder to see if you have any antibiotic resistances, overgrowths, or other things.
Ureaplasma and mycoplasma are another theory thatā€™s kinda controversial and expensive to test for. But some consider it an std. itā€™s a type of bacteria that can overgrow in your bladder, but also itā€™s kinda a part of the natural microbiome so I donā€™t know how much credit I give that.
You may notice that you have other conditions such as PCOS, endometriosis, adenomyosis, and or IBS. These conditions are also inflaming your pelvis and can make your bladder more angry if not under check. However, I DONT suggest going crazy trying to cure other pelvic conditions in order to fix your bladder. Thatā€™s what I did and it didnā€™t work as Iā€™d have hoped. Iā€™d try to find multiple doctors or people recommended by ur urogynocologist to help you manage everything together if that sounds like you.
Hope this helps!

2024.05.13 22:29 Berserk2024 I took my reworked definitely not over powered OC and added the weaknesses cause I forgot to add them in the last Post.

Reason why he has wolf characteristics is cause wolves are my favorite animal.
Name Matthew Hammond age 15
Quirk: Power control
Has the ability to control a type of energy only he has.
Ways to use this energy is standard strength and speed by but the power into your muscle fibers and organs to enhance their performance. Matthew can also materialize this power in different ways he traniednto find out how he can do this, for example shock waves or energy tenticals.
The main weakness is energy drain. I know what y'all probably thinking, "this is like every quirks weakness cause I swing your quirk can tire you out", but his quirks energy drain. When he use his quirk, the energy run down and if uses a all out attack he loses the energy and cant use his quirk. But on the good side , this energy grows back over time , and since it's his quirk energy if he goes to where he let out a huge attack, he can absorbed it back. It takes like an hour to get his power back to 100% naturally if he just goes on with his day.
Mutation: * Wolf Ears and Tail: Matthew has permanent wolf-like ears and a tail as a result of his mutation.* Laser Eyes: Matthew can emit powerful laser beams from his eyes. This mutation was a rare coincident.
Also he can share his energy with others to enhance their quirks cause energy works like that I think.
Elemental Forms and Powers:
  1. Lightning Form (Name: Volt)
Weakness: If used too much then it will damage his nervous system temporarily.
  1. Fire Form (Name: Blaze):
Weakness: if you use too much then we'll gain first degree burns.
  1. Water Form (Name: Aquos):
Weakness: No clear weakness.
  1. Ice Form (Name: Frost):
Weakness: if in a heated area, then he will get weak and slower.
  1. Light Form (Name: Radiance):
Weakness: overused will make him temporarily blind
  1. Darkness Form (Name: Shadow):
Weakness: Obviously light. Even a flashlight.
  1. Plant Form (Name: Flora):
  1. Metal Form (Name: Alloy):
Weakness: Overtime he'll get weaker cause of rust. Water
  1. Earth Form (Name: Terra):
No clear weakness.
How this works is his power works like a computer l well more like just a normal computer, then a virus AKA and elements infects this power and then it slowly corrupts his powers AKA but there until his body is able to use a different elements, the form is only as strong as his original form because the element can only corrupt what is there, not make more power. A little bit of this energy is still there so that it can take back control. Each form has a mind of its own like some dark shadow type thing. The reason why his forms have minds of their own is cause if I gave him full control his forms he would swap to frequently and that would be two strong.
The reason why he can do this is when he was 3 is quirk was developing and he was exposed to radiation messing with his quirk genes and when his quirk developed it added this.
Hero Costume:
He also has tubes that are like water bottle size on this belt that he charges with his energy every night before he goes to bed in case he runs out of energy himself.
Maximum Output Move: Master Elemental
Carrys amounted cannons inspired by Titan speaker man. They harness his power into either energy balls or just flat out lasers.
To make my self clear his max form when he uses all his elements he can only use 1/10 of his forms power including him as the main guy of this whole body.
PERSONALITY
He's smart nice in a way sometimes a prankster if you try to roast him you will go complete PackGod on you, if he's in a bad mood don't try to comfort him you'll just make things worse and not for him for you, he's really cocky, but not bakugo cocky hes just a bit over confident. He is very creative. He loves tech to the point if you break a 30 buck phone around him, let's just say you gonna want to do a crime in front of batman before Matthew finds you.
Favorite food: Red Beans and rice
6ft 2
Hates obsesseve people.
There's some girl who likes him so much she stalks him threatens his girlfriend tried to kiss him by force kidnapped him. She did this to point he couldn't take it any more so he moved to Japan but she still found him.

I've shared my thoughts in our Telegram group (DM me if youā€™d like to join - the research cited can be found in the group) about this but wouldnā€™t be fair to not share it here - Iā€™m also interested in the communityā€™s thoughts and if anyone has had botox for acne scarring:
Lately, I've been diving hard into Botox & scar research, especially Botox effects on ROLLING SCARS! ALSOā€¦MAJOR props to Dr. Lam for using Botox on acne scars (aka following the research)ā€”unlike some other big names in acne scar treatments who havenā€™t caught on. Could it be because Botox isnā€™t as profitable? Hmmmm.
Botox, when used off-label in ā€œmicro-dosing,ā€ involves hyperdiluting the botox and either injecting it INTRADERMALLY or applying it TOPICALLY after microneedling OR laser.
Botox has been shown to weaken the superficial muscle fibers and releases the pulling effect on scars, showing great results, especially with rolling scars.
This is a BIG benefit of Botox because, while there is research shows Botox also promotes collagen production, the mechanism of action of Botox is very predictable. Unlike biostimulatory fillers, which are less predictable in their effects and vary from person to person, Botox CONSISTENTLY weakens the muscle fibers attached to the dermis.
THIS ALSO POTENTIALLY MEANS OMITTING SUBCISION ALL TOGETHER FOR ROLLING SCARS!
Multiple studies show excellent outcomes when combining microneedling with topical Botox for rolling scars.
If youā€™re considering dilute filler being applied topically post-laser, think about Botox as well. Some providers WILL LIKELY push against it due to lower profits, but be ready to show them the studies.
IN TERMS OF BOTOX BEING TEMPORARY - Another study found Botox increases collagen production, reduces degradation, enhances angiogenesis, and reduces fibrosis without affecting wound healing. There just havenā€™t been enough studies done yet to know the long-term effects of botox for acne scars
topical application seems safest, with no muscle paralysis side effects, thanks to lower concentrations and the transdermal method via microneedling. By muscle paralysis I mean if an injector injects too deep in the lower face, they can freeze the smile muscle partially for 2-3 months.
Final Thoughts:
  1. Topical Botox is safer than intradermal injections for the lower face, minimizing the risk of freezing muscles. If you go for injections, I suggest picking an experienced provider like Dr. Lam, but his prices are a bit outrageous $1,300 per session.
  2. Providers buy Botox vials for $250-$500, and one application of hyper dilute botox will require about 20-50 units for acne scarring. Even at $10 per unit, thatā€™s $200-$500 max.
  3. Botox is great for rolling scars but less so for boxcar and icepick scars (still seems to have some effect for boxcar but not as pronounced as it does for rolling). HYDROTOXIN - HA Filler (BTW - Non-cross HA filler has been shown to be more beneficial versus cross HA filler for acne scars) mixed with botox has been found to be effective for all 3 scar types (check out the Kim - 2021 article on this)
  4. Mesobotox is widely used for active acne & sebum production - so if youā€™re also dealing with active acne, botox can POTENTIALLY be a 2 bird 1 stone answer
  5. I don't think botox is a cure for acne scars but I think it's super interesting in that it may be a way to A. improve rolling scars WITHOUT subcision B. it's more affordable than most fillers C. mechanism of action is VERY predictable.

2024.05.13 19:08 Existing_Spread_2346 5ā€™6 Women what weight do you fell best at?

I saw a post similar to this and loved the question.
I am currently on a weight loss journey and am really loving how my body is starting to feel and look. Iā€™m currently around 142lbs. Before this, I donā€™t remember the last time I was below 154lbs.
At my heaviest I was 176lbs and held a lot of fat in my face, legs and upper arms.
Iā€™ve been good at maintaining my weight fluctuating around 6lbs max for the last 8ish years. Even when trying to lose weight šŸ˜….
Iā€™ve been pretty athletic and had a lot more muscle than I do now which I know effects look, weight and feel also.
I hold a lot of my weight in my thighs and I also have larger girls šŸ‰. Iā€™m a little curvy but i wouldnā€™t say hourglass as such.
I have always been a US size 6-8 but now am probably more of a 4-6. My top size tends to be bigger to fit the girls.
But I am just curious to see how others feel around certain weights.

2024.05.13 16:33 pugcorn How can we progressively overload if we donā€™t have access to heavier weights?

Just curious - for those that have a smaller home and have max 20lbs dumbbells, how do you reach our goal without purchasing a gym membership? Or is it not feasible to build muscle with these limitations?

2024.05.13 16:04 jshelton201 USGA tee ruling on adaptive golf?

Iā€™ve been playing golf for several years but have never heard an official USGA ruling on who can play forward tees specifically for events/club tournaments. I have Cerebral Palsy to a point that I can walk okay on my own but my distance off the tee maxes 200 yards as my muscles are severely limited. Iā€™ve played the menā€™s tees most of my life, but I realize pace-of-play may be helped with a forward tee assignment. Does anyone know if the USGA officiates anything like this? I know while playing casual golf I can start wherever I choose (per USGA) but Iā€™d be curious if they have a specific qualifying process for more competitive play. Thanks in advance!

2024.05.13 14:38 recycle37216 Friendly Pharmacist Insight here šŸ‘©šŸ½ā€āš•ļøšŸ˜„: Pain meds

Youā€™ve all likely taken a pain medication at some point, so I thought I might offer a little more info about some of the different types.
Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is great for pain and fever, but it is not an anti-inflammatory medicine. Acetaminophen is known to cause liver damage when taken in large quantities, and this medication is included in many different OTC formulations such as cough and cold medicines. Patients should always check ingredients to ensure they are not double dosing unintentionally, and limit use when possible.
The term Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) encompasses a wide range of medications that help with pain, fever, gout, blood clots, and inflammation. Because these medications work differently from acetaminophen, it is generally safe to use both if your primary issue is pain and/or fever; however, you should never use two types of NSAIDs together due to their adverse drug effect (ADE) risks.
All NSAIDs are known to cause kidney damage, but liver damage is possible in high doses. In addition, some NSAIDs can increase the risk of bleeding, cause heartburn and stomach ulcers, increase blood pressure, cause heart problems or stroke, and may cause allergic reactions. Frequent/long term use is not recommended without oversight by a physician. NSAIDs are best taken with food and possibly a H2RA/PPI (see previous reflux post for more info on these meds) to help prevent GI bleeding.
Some common NSAIDs include: Aspirin (Bufferin, Ecotrin-low dose used often for blood clot prevention) Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) Naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn-12h dosing) Diclofenac (Voltaren-topical options available; higher risk for liver and heart ADEs) Indomethacin (Indocin) Meloxicam (Mobic-24h dosing) Ketorolac (Toradol-high risk for ADEs; use should be limited to 40mg max daily and 5 days use) Celecoxib (Celebrex-less risk of GI ulcers but increases risk of heart problems)
Also note that children with viral infections should NOT take aspirin due to the risk of Reyeā€™s Syndrome
Corticosteroids (different from anabolic steroids) are synthetic versions of cortisol that are also used for inflammation by affecting the bodyā€™s immune response. They are commonly used for allergies, asthma, arthritis, and autoimmune diseases, yet they can have a wider variety of ADEs especially when used systemically, such as weight gain/water retention, mood changes, increased body hair growth, increased risk of infection/difficulty fighting infections, easy bruising, GI bleed risk, increased blood pressure and sugar, etc. Some examples are cortisone, hydrocortisone, methylprednisolone, prednisolone, prednisone, triamcinolone, betamethasone, dexamethasone, and fludricortisone. (NSAIDs and steroids should not be taken together.)
Lidocaine and/or menthol is also a great option for pain that is available in many different dosage forms. Some antidepressants like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), or tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs) and some anticonvulsants can be used for certain chronic pain conditions. Muscle relaxers are useful for muscle tension and spasms.
When necessary opioid pain medications may be prescribed. These should only be used as directed because they carry high risks for ADEs, such as respiratory depression and dependence. Opioids cause intestinal movement to slow resulting in constipation so itā€™s important to also take senna, which directly stimulates the intestines to move, otherwise you get ā€œall mush, no pushā€ if you only use other constipation meds! šŸ¤Ŗ
P.S. Physical therapy and dry needling can also be a great way to relieve pain!! I get needling regularly for my myofascial pain syndrome so I can attest that it helps tremendously!šŸ¤©

2024.05.13 12:51 IllicitBiscuits Advice please on alternating doses

Hi, I have asked this in the main MJ sub too... I have been given the option to order my next pen now, even though I am only nearly two weeks into the current one (next dose day after tomorrow), this is just because I ordered the 2nd pen from a new provider early, with a discount code.
Anyway, I have done 4 weeks on 2.5mg, 4 weeks on 5mg, then chose to stay at 5mg for the next 4 weeks because; I was losing well and didn't want to risk any side effects (so far been quite lucky, just a bit of indigestion) and 7.5mg is pretty much all that is available in the UK (at least where I have looked), so wanted to 'save it'. (I use Medexpress)
However, for the past two weeks since starting the second 5mg pen, my weight just goes up and down and ultimately stays at the same level, in two weeks I will have only lost 1.5lbs or less. I am now regretting not moving to 7.5mg. I understand weight loss is not linear (though mine had been for the previous 8 weeks!) and I understand plateaus and I understand I may be building muscle etc.
I am thinking however, what if I now get a 7.5mg pen, and alternate the doses 7.5 one week, and 5mg the next?
Does anyone have experience doing this? I figure it would partially up my 'in body' dose, hopefully giving me a bit of a boost without wasting any medication.
This does mean my 5mg pen will be open longer than 30 days - which is what I've been told is the max. I also intend to get the '5th dose' out of each pen moving forward using an insulin needle. So the 5mg pen will be open for 49 days, and the 7.5mg the same.
I have lost 22lbs with 34-39lbs still to go (my goal is 135-140lbs (I am 5ft 7in), I am going to see how I feel when I get there as to where I stop!
Thoughts and advice appreciated!

FTG Messed with Players' Unique In Game Movements

Pretext

I'm the the first guy in this subs that actually gives a valid explanation on how common and rare cards can chase max cards. Through Players' individual catch zone and speed buff. When i discovered defensive speed buff 1 month ago, most don't believe or simply don't care, but i still did tutorials on Jockeying Defense Mechanics.
Players start by doing side stepping / hopping and ultimately gets flash speed buffs, that comes with automated guided scripting to jab tackle or to get an automated pass interception. Both of this mechanism is still on the latest update. In fact, now FTG had to actually change all players movement to semi guided jockey stance when they are off ball because majority of users doesn't know how to trigger it.

InGame Movements

Seriously no one is complaining about this?
  1. When catching a ball
  2. Speed drops 25% on first touch
  3. Additional 25% drop if you turn 180 "degree (3 strides instead of 1)
DLS23 and First version of DLS24 till now. Each players has their own individual signature length of strides. This algorithm together with card stats is what distinguishes the characteristics of those players cards'. So each player has. their" own physics".
By understanding gravity physic and ball physic in DLS24, one player can make a turn of 180 degree in one stride, by catching a high speed ball and using it's momentum to trap the ball adjacent to its direction. Like jujitsu judo tai chi. By proper timing, the ball that you shoot, will gain additional speed and velocity. Which I why I can shoot long shots consistently, by using Newton's 2nd Law of Motion. Those who fail to understand the concept, won't be able to do it at will.

The Current Ghost Update Nullify Card Stats on First Strides

FTG now says let's fuck with gravity. Let's fuck with all game physics in DLS24.
Doesn't matter if individual has different running animation CR7 or Neymar, doesn't matter if your speed or accel is 100 90 or fucking 80. Your first 3 strides = forced close control stride by game system and instead of 1 explosive stride using ball momentum.
This changes everything. Individual cards movements that we all know by our heart. All the accumulated knowledge, experience and muscle memory destroyed in 1 night, 1 fucking ghost update.
Well done FTG.
