For me it's clearly Boruto himself. I understand when people think he isn't their "cup of tea" (haha) or not very interesting,boring etc, but to hate him? People are saying that Naruto's biggest L is that Boruto is his son or that Hinata should have had an abortion when she was pregnant with Boruto...that is just really over the top and NOT justified.
So, what are YOUR examples? You can choose both Naruto and Boruto characters.

Some things that I think make this insane in no particular order: it’s a gender bent fic; it’s got some controversial themes/tags; it goes against a TON of advice and common preferences expressed here; it’s kakanaru, not one of the bigger pairings; I can’t write action for shit; I started publishing only about a year ago; and finally—I cannot emphasize enough how crazy this part is to me—I HAVE NEVER FINISHED THE CANON. I finished the Pain arc while high as balls, had the thought “fuck this why isn’t Naruto a girl” and never looked back. (Wait, actually, you know what else is crazy? This is such a slow fucking burn that where I’m at (600k words in), the main characters still haven’t even had penetrative sex T.T and people are still reading this nonsense??)
I’m finishing up my career in STEM academia atm; I have stood in front of hundreds of people to prattle on about fucking frogs and am no stranger to imposter syndrome. But this is INTENSE imposter syndrome. I want to tap every single person who has left kudos on my fic on the shoulder and ask them wtf they were thinking. Clearly they must have slipped and hit the button by accident. If they knew I was just me they wouldn’t be reading. I only have any real talent when I’m hypomanic and as I learn to manage my illness, my episodes are getting less intense and further apart, and soon everyone will realize I’m a terrible writer. Probably the way hits work on AO3 is that it’s per chapter, so everyone who reads the whole thing is ~150 hits.
Even just writing it all out makes me feel so much better T.T It just feels like there’s been a huge mistake!

Well my reasons for loving this girl too much is cuz this 16yr idiot (me!) parallels to Naruto as in I was kind of an outcast, hot headed knucklehead dense and didn't inherit any smart qualities of my parents only my mum's temper , I have a stoic brother with a poker face that makes me want to punch (or my version of Sasuke) cuz he angers me to hell

I DO NOT THINK THIS THEORY WILL BE CANON ITS JUST SOMETHING I THINK WOULD BE COOL. The kurama in himawari is still kurama from og Naruto but while recreating itself took some of the hamura chakra Himawari got from Hinata and maybe some of the other tailed beasts chakra from Naruto and became stronger. I make this theory because a chibi kurama isn’t near a big enough buff even with full cooperation to do shit to any currently relevant problem. She even would have been obsolete late shippuden and the last because kurama isn’t at full power. So I feel giving kurama some byakugan related stuff would be a cool combination of the things her parents can do and the other tailed beasts would A give access 6 paths mode and B I want an excuse to see more lava release.

im really new to anime, having only watched naruto completely a couple years ago along with some others i tried to watch, but there are just scenes that make me really uncomfortable.
I feel like a lot of anime have these really sexy girls with really huge proportionally questionable chests (their poor shoulders!) and scenes that oversexualize them doing the most normal thing ever and that icks me out a lot.
unless romance is IMPERATIVE for the plot, I don't really like it there because i just feel like it takes away the attention from the plot and I fear them becoming over sexualized.
I'm not sure if it's just me who feels this way and it's been concerningly overly normalized or many people feel like this, because as I said earlier, I'm really new. what do you guys think?
but now that I have my concerns out of my head I'm looking for an anime where the mc is op (strong to really strong, weak to op, etc) but without the things I've said above (romance, sex, harem, sexualization)
I'm not sure if my ideals are really unrealistic and there's essentially not a single anime out there that doesn't have these things, but thanks in advance!

Note: It discusses on the mistakes that Part 2: Naruto Shippuden should be rewritten/change, ended and how it paves it way into Part 3: Naruto Shinden (a name I come up with)
The Part 1 of Naruto was almost perfect (arguably for me it's the best part), it set up almost everything perfectly, the only thing that need to add is show some natural friendship and rivalry between Naruto and Sasuke instead Naruto's obsession over Sasuke, but even bigger problem was the Part 2: Naruto Shippuden.
How Part 2: Naruto Shippuden should have ended?
It should have ended after the Pain's Assault Arc, with so many tensions Konoha destroyed, Sasuke killed Itachi and finds the truth, then Sasuke turns full evil, Naruto finally becomes a hero, setting up Naruto x Hinata, Sasuke creates his "Taka" group and work under or with Madara/Obito and Danzo becoming the Pseudo Hokage was awesome (even though I hate Danzo, he is a wasted potential of a villain who was killed way quicker).
The changes in Part 2: Naruto Shippuden:
A. Beginning & Deviating from the Core Plot
The biggest problem with the Shippuden was at the beginning itself 2 year timeskip, Sasuke was beastly, even Sakura at the Kazekage Rescue Mission Arc was developed but the problem was our main character Naruto he should had new movesets, beastly power ups consider him training under one of the Sannin Jiraiya but nope... And during the timeskip Naruto should have become a Chunin, because this is a story about an outcast who gains the acknowledgement of the people, train hard to become Hokage, not chosen wonder and in Shippuden it really changes from "I'm gonna be the Hokage" to "Sasuke come home".
B. Character Development and Character Moments for Main Characters and Side Characters
There is a reason why me and definitely most people loves Shikamaru more than Neji, Rock Lee, Kiba, Sai, and etc. Because of the focus, character development, and moment he got. Let me be straight, Kakashi, Sakura, during some time even Naruto was a major disappointment character, Kakashi "copy ninja, a man with 1000 jutsus" this man should be monster and Batman-kind ninja who jutsus for almost all situations and this man's only solo W were against Zabuza and Obito, during Kaguya fight the Susanoo was horrendous writing. Sakura, really do I need type her problems out except for her during Kazekage Rescue Mission Arc were garbage, she should have forgotten Sasuke and overcome it like my god. Naruto in shippuden he says "Sasuke" more than "I'm gonna be a Hokage", outcast, hard worker to chosen wonder, prophesied child, reincarnated god lame and total nail in the coffin for what and who Naruto represents.
C. Explore the lore and additional mission arcs (besides Uchiha)
It is insane, that we know very little about the protagonist's clan, and other clans like the noble clan Hyuga, Aburame, Akimichi and why wasn't Senju not even a noble clan. We knew more about a clan that extinct than a noble household that is Hyuga. Sharingan all the buffs Tsukuyomi, Susanoo, Amaterasu (three offspring of creator god of Japanese mythology Izanagi, which was also in Sharingan) like what the heck.
Neji should have gotten his arc like Shikamaru did, which could involve the Hyuga clan civil war, which could also set up some Naruto x Hinata pairing moments and some scenes for Tenten like why she even in this show or does she. Rock Lee should have gotten his arc which showcase him becoming a true successor for Might Guy with some focus to Shino as well. Show the world of Anbu ninja's through Sai like the dark missions, experiments and so on, or else who need this discount Sasuke. And show the building of real team Naruto (Shikamaru, Kiba and Choji) which could be perfect counter to Sasuke's team (Hebi or Taka) in the part 3 of Naruto. Utilise the female characters more well Ino, Tenten, Tsunade, Sakura, Hinata like they are all wasted.
D. Ending of Part 2 outcome
Tsunade, she should have retired or bedridden after the Pain's Assault Arc, and it was her who saves majority of the people's life after the shinra tensei, Pain should have go down by the hands of Naruto or over excessive use of chakra killing him not by bring back everyone with talk no jutsu, Orochimaru also should have died either by the hands of Sasuke or Itachi. With the village has been destroyed, the Hokage has died, Danzo should have become Hokage trying build the village in his views, the threat that surrounds the village now, from other villages and Madara/Obito/Sasuke and Taka. With foreshadowing, the Fourth Shinobi World War is coming and the villains are preparing. By the end, at the aftermath Naruto should have been promoted to Genin.
What is Part 3 Naruto: Shinden should be about?
Show some timeskip had passed, maybe 2 years with last time we saw the village had been destroyed, how did it survive because it should have that other villages and how they see this with Sunagakure (Gaara) was relaying some help to the village as a thanks to Naruto for their help. In this time Naruto, should have become a sensei to Konohamaru to whom he had like Jiraiya-Naruto relation. And this is where all the shippings in Naruto should have come into fruition Naruhina should have worked here instead a movie to justify, Sai and Ino (why, show in this part), Shikamaru and Temari (my personal fav beside the main) should been sailed here.
Konan should have survived, honestly one of the better written female character (not S tier but still better) have play the role through whom the peeps known the existence of the legendary Madara. With Taka's atrocities with Obito should have called forth the Five Kage Summit, during which Killer Bee (like him but still) should have died, and an attempt to kill Naruto should have been the trigger the countdown for the Fourth Shinobi World War. No Kaguya, no alien shenanigans just ninjas please god please.
During the countdown part of the Fourth Shinobi World War, Sasuke should have killed Danzo with Naruto trying (with Naruto holding back) fight against Sasuke through whom or maybe Karin, Naruto learned the truth about the Itachi and Uchiha downfall. After his death, Kakashi (the rewritten badass version) should have become Hokage and lead his village in the upcoming War. The people that should have died during the war Onoki, Killer Bee (pre war but still), Might Guy, Kankuro (sand Siblings should have face a loss), definitely not Neji. The edo tensei was smart and yes the Akatsuki revival was also scary, the additional person that should have revived Jiraiya (yes), fought against Naruto (emotional moment absolutely yes), Shisui (friend of Itachi) powerful dojutsu makes enormous gain for the villains, Hanzo (the one named the Sannin) which gives a moment Tsunade who teach Sakura to defeat him (great character moments). After the end, Naruto and Sasuke have a final battle to see who is right and wrong which way the Shinobi World should move. Naruto again defeating Sasuke, forgiving him at the end becoming Hokage and marrying Hinata.

In the Youtube Short today a Pirate crew was made of Boruto characters & given the goal of finding the one piece.... But what if we pivoted that a bit! BC why just chose the 9 OP fan favs when you could make actual crews! - trying to put together characters that kinda joined teams - The characters would be at MOST beginning of Shippuden when they set sail

Yes one team has more members & the other has more OP DFs... Shrugs.... they'd potentially pick up more by the end of grand line as theyre definitely both Yonko contenders. & every crew tends to have a lot of fodder in one piece

So I'm going to take a few ideas from our Lord and Savior NCHammer, and yes, we are getting LGBT rep but to get it started is going to be a bit rough and maybe weird.
I'm having Sakura and the other girls in the Konoha 12 have a "Girls (and Neji because Hinata's dad is overprotective) Night" once a week type of thing going on where they have sleep overs at either Tenten's house, Sakura's house, or Ino's house, where they discuss their love life's, goals, what happened on missions, help study and train, and the like. They'd even gossip about the boys and who they suspect likes someone or whatever.
Ino is constantly trying to get Sakura and Tenten to marry into one of the powerful clans -- but not marry Sasuke because she likes Sasuke. Her main goal for trying to get them married is a genuine fear of them dying in combat. The death statistic of the Shinobi is around 85% clanless ninja vs 15% of Shinobi who are from a Clan. Her crush on Sasuke eventually died and became replaced with the mysterious Sai who's art and cryptic nature enamored her.
Tenten is genuinely Ace -- if you don't know what Ace means, it is basically someone who is as sexually active as a nun --- she isn't interested in finding a romantic partner, she does want to find a partner but it's not a priority for her or if any importance for her. She'd be happy dying alone with a family of cats, or married happily. Both are an ideal for her. She wasn't interested in Neji at first mainly because he's a Hyuga, after being friends with him and Hinata she's genuinely terrified of the inner politics of the clan and genuinely cares for them.
Sakura is very shy and reserved and actually fell in love with Sasuke because of his bruding nature and him being the "cool kid" of the class, much like how Ino fell for him. However, Sakura fell out of love because of Sasuke being a rather self-interested prick to her and just lacking a respect for her and Naruto, constantly pushing them away from him. She does find a bit of admiration for Naruto but puts those feelings aside so Hinata can shoot that shot, so she looks towards Lee and finds that she loves his drive, and his enthusiasm for life.
Hinata fell for Naruto's protective, humorous and loyal nature. When Kiba and Shino found out about this crush of hers... She may or may not have forced their silence out of pure panicked fluster...
Temari --- upon the final half of the Chunin Exams, Ino invited her to a girl's night, and was shocked she was welcomed to this, but Ino may or may not have hinted at having a friend who she thinks would click with her. After the Sasuke Retrieval art Ink got $50 from Hinata, Tenten, Sakura and Neji each. They never saw Temari getting with Shikamaru.
Kankuro met Tenten during their wait for the final part of the Chunin Exams when going to a small weapons shop. Tenten asked him if it was true he used puppets only to be swarmed with a thousand questions and he loved finally having someone to talk to about his craft and passion. He fell for her damn near instantly... But fucking hell the Sasuke Retrieval arc led him to be torn because a certain guy with a certain puppy really had to grab him by the heart strings and run off with them. And then when he came back during the time Skip only to find that that same guy named a puppy after him.... He is both happy and not happy about it. The bi panic is extreme. (Temari knows Kankuro is Bi but he doesn't know she knows. Gaara and Rasa don't know. Gaara is just an oblivious goober. And Rasa... Kankuro doesn't want to take the risk of Rasa knowing.)
Gaara may or may not have a small crush on Sakura (because they both write to each other often) but at the same time may or may not be slightly being a shy and love struck boy over a girl who can control cloth he finds constantly training during the day and one time during the night when he was checking his cacti. Don't tell his siblings or his dad. It may kill him from the fluster and blushing alone.
Neji fell for Tenten by complete accident. Be it out of respect, or the muscle... And the muscle... And how goofy she gets when she sees a weapon she's never seen before and the pretty smile. Did we mention those god damn back muscles?... What were we talking about? Oh yeah, he's got Kankuro at the top of the list of people he's willing to fight for Tenten.
Karin falls for Shino because of the fact that helped Ino and the Yamanakas of the Intelligence Division undo the memory tampering Orochimaru did. Shino was so patient with her and often brought her around Konoha to help her cope with how she was manipulated. He didn't even say much to her, but god he was such a good listener. She's creeped out by the bugs though.
Shino...? He won't talk about it. Kiba would make fun of him if he did. So he won't. (He's more annoyed than Karin will suddenly cling to him but then jump away because a beetle or ten gets curious about her chakra. She's one of the weirdest women he's ever met. Plus he's more pissed off that Sasuke tried to kill her for no reason. He has a lot of complicated emotions and not enough words to describe them. Don't tell Kiba. Seriously don't tell Kiba.)
Choji once met Karui and rode that high forever. Not even death can take that high from him.
Kiba.... Has the biggest crush on Kankuro it's not even funny. If he had a tail it'd wag so hard it would break the sound barrier when he's around Kankuro. Thankfully he doesn't. Akamaru doesn't get the idea of trying to find a partner and doesn't care much for Kankuro, but is willing to put up with him because Kiba is happy. Yes his mom and his sister knows he's gay. They don't care just want him to find someone that makes him happy.

Been thinking about the Sasuke retrieval arc, since ive been doing another What if rewrite.
Something that has always stuck with me as strange is how Gennin could have ever taken down the sound 4! We see Genma & Kotetsu. our resident off screen badass Jonin 2v4'd them and lost. Albeit it was a close fight, but that was also while they could all use their techniques in Tandem. & lets be real the only actual Chunin of that squad was Neji!. Shikamaru didnt have the power, naruto the intelect or strategy, & as close as Kiba was, just Ehhhhhhhhhhhh close but no cigars, plot was against him... & choji needed to go back to the academy xD
My question is if you could adjust the retrieval squad in any way. who would you add to it to make the sound 4 seem as strong as they shouldve been?
Jirobo: VS Choji & Shikamaru This change is honestly more about Buffing Jirobo than anything else. Choji is without a doubt the worst of the boys from the K12 in the first series.... He needed the butterfly to even keep up with a joke like Jirobo. I think this would allow us to have a bit more of an interesting tag team dynamic. & allow Jirobo to be better so that it would be reasonable when Mr i only know human bullet tank wins
Kidomaru: Vs Neji & Hinata Now if anyone was going to win their 1v1 it was going to be Neji. it makes the most sense, as he's the strongest of the K12 prior to this arc starting (IMO)... But a major missed oportunity that never plays out in all of naruto is how Neji & Hinata's relationship is reparied. I would have Neji hold the ground. But BC Hinata's Byakugan is so obscene she sees the strike that makes it through his blindspot, & goes back to help him!!! Nejis problems arent fully healed, but he does come to terms that Hinata isnt who marked him, & they can even have a moment where they say theyre going to fix it together. Tayuya: Vs Sakura & Temari Sakura fills a very similar role to what Shikamaru did here. in that they try and keep up with Tayuya, deciding to stay behind, because of Naruto, sakura, & Kiba she is the only one adept enough to deal with genjutsu at all. She can even have the chakra scalpel or some means of defending herself until the Queen herself shows up to truly save the day.
Sakon & Ukon: Vs Kiba, Ino, & Kankuro Kiba isnt given the credit he honestly deserves for this fight BC he was turned into an exclusive meme in shippuden, But he was kinda a badass
I would add 1 more person to this fight BC i think Sakon & Ukon should BE WAY STRONGER than the 3 that came prior to them. as they have a busted AF Kekkei Genkai & theres 2 of them Kankuro is also the weakest of the sand trio by a massive measure. so having one more could suffice in displaying the massive gap in power sakon & ukon have over kiba & kankuro
Its also the Perfect person in all of series one to put ino into to allow her to do cool shit, and not just be an 11 year old with a crush. she could do interesting things with mind transfering the twins whilst still conjoined.
Kimmimaro: Vs Lee, Tenten, & Gaara Im adding Tenten for two reasons. Tenten gets shat on unecesarilly, despite being stronger than most all of the K12 in series 1 (& Ill stand by that statement full heartedly)! I'd have tenten & Lee show up together to create an opening for Naruto to escape.
Lee can have his drunken fist nonsesne and everything he already does. Tenten just also gets to be a badass trying to break through Kimmimaro's armor. Which becomes massively easier when gaara shows up
I would 100% give her a specific scene. When Kimimaro uses brakken dance & appears to stab into the duo with the drill arm, I would have her had Parried the final attack with a big ol sword. Saving the boys from the last breath of the demon I imagine this would be a little more satisfying than just... "Oh we got lucky he didnt die 2 seconds later & couldnt swing his final blow"

full disclosure, I posted this on another sub as a comment to a completely unrelated post, and I wanted to voice my opinion somewhere more relevant to the topic. So hi

I don't get the Sakura hate as a whole. Her character's writing is a victim of the times, and to a certain extent, the genre. Being a main character means that she is much more on display. I'm in the process of rewatching all of it again as an "adult" and let me explain:
There is no denying that she had way more potential as a character and as a ninja. Sakura has some truly cool moments, and I'm not ashamed to say I've cheered her on. It's a shame that she basically peaks as far as character development at the Sasori fight. (At least imo. She feels more 3-dimensional in Boruto to me. But Boruto is another topic, and an interesting idea for a character analysis.)
But here's my take; the way she was written feels like the established "rules" of her character meant that she was written into a corner (ex: woman means healer), since culture continues to change during the lifespan of the series. Sakura feels like she suffers from this more, as she is intended to be a "main character" and I think that the reason Hinata doesn't get the same hate, now that she's a "main character," is because she has a much more distressing background than Sakura. Another example of Sakura's shitty writing.
Another example of the cultural shift are some of the things Jaraiya says in part 1. (I'm only on ep 169 in my rewatch) He would absolutely be cancelled and hated by the younger generations in modern times, and it feels like his character HAD to be killed off, because his personality didn't fit the changing modern culture.
The original manga was released in 1999, and lasted until right before 2015. The amount of things that changed due to the ever-growing "information age" really can't be overstated. Naruto's characters aren't the only victims of this. Brock from Pokemon? Johnny Bravo?
Naruto has/had a very long run for a series by any metric, and it doesn't have the same benefit of an ever-changing cast of characters to the same extent that Pokemon does. I'm not saying it's the ONLY reason Sakura is poorly written, but it's a huge reason of which I don't think a lot of fans consider.
I think the writers really did the best they could do with the growing pressure of cultural change, within the bounds of the world they created, while staying true to the already established character.
I think that one of the reasons that Naruto was, and continues to be, successful is because of it's ability to adapt to change, while staying true to itself.

This is a final part 4 to this post about men being criticized for having certain traits. But society still up judging men for having the alternative to those traits. In the post I would like to focus more on something I called the big 3.

I call this the big 4 .Men that are nonchalant, aloof, serious, and introverted. In the movies or shows these men are usually portray as cynical, nihilistic, edgy, incels, or men with no motivation in life. There is a popular anime tropes where male characters are aloof, introverted, and always serious. And the fanbase usually hate those of male characters. One character from the anime Naruto called Sasuke pretty much hated for being cold towards female characters. The fan base try pull that progressive homophobia, where they say the male character is gay because he is not sex obsessed with women.
But I notice female characters with the same personality have a different reaction though. The fan base more likely to view aloof female characters as empowering. Because they independent and don't need anyone (particularly men). While their male counterparts are either portray as incels by writers, or view as incels by the fan base. But I have feeling the same reason why these male characters are hated. Is probably the same reason why the concept of MGTOW is hated (not referring to the bad apples here).
As for being serious. Again it's actually a cool thing nowadays when the female character is always angry all the time. This is portray as a good thing. Because it shows that the female characters are all about business and getting shit done. While all the other male characters are portray as one dimensional happy go lucky characters with no brains. Again this goes back to that female empowerment thing. Where women hate it when people (particularly men) tell them to smile more. So them being serious all the time is like middle finger to men, because they are subverting expectation about women. While serious male characters are often view as rude or assholes. Especially when they act serious towards women too. Nobody cares if they are serious towards other men though.
I honestly believe these four personality types are hated in men, because these men are less likely to act on gender roles. Especially in a progressive society where gender roles are still force on men. Maybe introverted men go against that idea of men being the ones to always approach women first, or interact with women first. You can argue that there is expectation for men to always give attention to women all the time. Hence why nonchalant men are usually hated by some women. Despite being the opposite of the toxic clergy man. I talk about nonchalant men in part 2. Or the expectation for men to always be nice chivalrous to women is kind thrown out the widow when men aloof or serious towards women.
So this brings me back to how men are criticized for having certain traits, but are still judge for having the alternative of those traits. Men are always criticized by women or society for being immature and silly. We see media like dumb dad commercials, shows like Family Guy and The Simpsons make fun of men by portraying male characters like this. Even high school stories do the same thing with the dumb jock trope. These men are considered to be neanderthals. So on the surface you would think that society hates men that are immature.
But not really like I mention in the first couple paragraphs, men are still judge for being introverted or aloof. Those are the alternatives to men who are immature. I think that society actually prefer men that are immature. Let me explain. It's the same paradox where men are judge harshly for being horn dogs or obsessed with sex in the media. But at the same time men are considered closeted gay men or "unmasculine" men for not being too crazy about women bodies. Because men being horny is a expecting gender role. So men being immature automatically means they are extroverted. And extroversion could be a expected male gender role. I know this don't sound like it makes sense.
But let me use a personal anecdote to explain my point here though. In school I was the quiet boy who sit at the back of the class. Students and some teachers find it odd that would not interact with other students, or act like the other boys in the class. I find this ironic because you always see how feminists talk about how misbehave boys are in classrooms. Even little girls talking about how annoying boys are to them. Even I hated the male class clown as kid. But yet society still encourage boys to act like this, even despite most of the complaining about young boys being immature. I was still viewed weird or odd for being a introverted boy.
In conclusion.
It seems like society is only use to men acting a certain way. But then society gets caught up in a paradox where people claim they want men to "change" or act in "better" ways.
I.E. men are violent people. But they should use that same violence to protect women, to teach that creep a lesson though.
I.E. Men can be overly jealous or possessive of women, they don't own women. But men being nonchalant towards women choices or women general is a serious red flag.
I.E. Men are immature and stupid. But aloof men and serious men make me uncomfortable.

Story started with Sasuke bursting into Naruto's office engaged and demanding to know why he's still registered as a genin, in spite of having flee-on-sight, flee-on-hearing and other flee-on-verbs. Naruto smugly points out that since he ditched Konoha when was a genin, he's remained such, and no, Avenger is not a rank.
Sasuke smirks the classic Uchiha smirk™ and tells Naruto that Hokage isn't a rank either. Naruto's baffled, and asks Hinata to confirm, who informs him that Naruto's technically still a genin.
Thus, Naruto creates Team Kage (and Sasuke), and enters the exams with Gaara, Naruto and Sasuke. Kakashi may have been the sensei.
Memorable bits:

I wanted to dedicate a post to acknowledge & celebrate Kishimoto's psychological & emotional depth in creating this amazing legacy. I'll keep it short & to the point but happy to answer any questions you might have (I'm a Psychology student that is relatively well versed in many aspects of the field).
Here are some of the psychological themes that never fail to amaze me about Naruto:
Talk no jutsu:
This is basically Naruto conducting talk therapy on struggling-suffering people, getting them to face & process their traumas and offering them new perspectives in life, beyond their crystallized-trauma struck world views. Trauma often crystallizes a very rigid world view that is hard to change. But just like effective therapy, Talk No Jutsu seems to be able to pierce through those defenses in a very human way and help people to overcome their troubling past. Think Gaara, Nagato, Obito & Sasuke who after a few pro bono talk no jutsu sessions by Naruto go on to heal their wounds (Trauma means wound in Ancient Greek) and find peace & fulfillment (Which - I'd like to note- is possible for all trauma victims).
Integrating the Shadow:
Kurama and Naruto's shadow in the waterfall are strong symbols of the darker, often repressed sides of human nature. We all have shadow parts that grow strong with anger, envy, hatred or fear. And Naruto teaches us how to face and actually make peace with them (unlike other fantasy fictions that only feature lame fighting scenes with the "shadow." Think Luke going to the cave to see himself wearing a Darth Vader suit and decipatete it.) This is why is was to cathartic to seem him befriend Kurama instead of conquering him and also hugging his shadow, instead of beating him.
In psychology, integrating your shadow is one of the most wonderous works that can ever be taken on. Check out Jung - Shadow Work, Internal Family Systems Therapy (Richard Schwartz), Ego States Therapy (By Watkins') and any other resources about shadow / parts work. One can do this work by themselves as well but it requires advanced meditation skills & strong sense of self - stability in life. So, my suggestion would be either just start by light readings or professional therapy if this sounds intriguing.
Schemas:
A schema is an organized pattern of thought and behavior. In schema therapy, some early maladaptive schemas are clearly defined in depth and throughout the series, we see many characters deal with their own schemas & demons.
Naruto overcomes his Abandonment / Social Isolation schema by building deep connections with everyone around him, even with his enemies. Iruka & Jiraiya play a very critical reparenting role in his development. (Fuck you, Sarutobi).
Sasuke makes peace with his Mistrust / Abuse schema by becoming a watchful protector of the village from a distance that feels acceptable to him.
Sakura-Hinata overcome their Dependence / Incompetence schemas by learning skills & challenging their limits. Even the usually frowned upon Sakura cutting her hair is very significant in that lens. Rock Lee similarly overcomes Defectiveness of not being able to perform ninjutsu by compensating that with hard work.

Trauma (Trigger warning):
We look at both Trauma with a big T (Death, violence, abuse...) and trauma with small t (Day in day out, continous small ruptures in attachment & connection) in Naruto. Sasuke and Naruto are both heavily tratumatised kids and can be argumented to even trauma bond. Gaara goes into full psychotic / dissociated states until he makes a human connection with Naruto. Haku, Nagato, Itachi... The list goes on.
Sadly, most psychologists and psychiatrists are not well versed in trauma and can fail to help you with traumagenic struggles. Seek trauma specialists if you are looking for professional support. EMDR, Somatic / Sensorimotor modalities, Internal Family Systems are all trauma informed modalities that you can count on (As long as the professionals are decently certified).
Manipulation / Emotional Abuse:
Throughout the series, we see villains with possibly dark triad features (Pschopathy, Narcissism, Machiavellianism) manipulate others as means to their personal ends. Think Zabuza - Haku, Itachi - Sasuke, Danzo and the Anbu, Orochimaru and Kimimaro, even Madara and Obito. The key here is that villains always seek out vulnerable, often orphaned kids and raise them according to their personal agendas. Very dark stuff. Most cults operate in a similar way, seeking out vulnerable individuals and integrate them into a new code of life like Danzo does with Anbu.
Check out Dark Triad, defense against manipulation, emotional abuse and specialized psychologists. I will not suggest any further reading as these can help possible offenders.
Hypnosis:
I believe genjutsu is basically hypnosis. You can arguably & theoretically put someone in a trance mode to get them to experience a past or imagined event over and over again, breaking their will and getting them under your countrol. Again, no further reading suggestions from me.
Addiction:
Jiraiya, Tsunade... Kakashi?
Positive Psychology:
Even in the midst of all this darkness, many characters inspire us to have faith in the brighter side of human nature. Jiraiya's purposeful vision about creating a world where people can understand each other (Which has personally helped me find a purpose in life), Minato's gentle and empowering kindness towards everyone, Killer Bee fully embracing his musical gifts, Kakashi showing resilience after many traumas that would have turned many others onto the dark side... These show that we still can have faith in ourselves and others.
And Naruto's unwavering faith & optimism can guide us through tough times - which I believe is an amazing role Kishimoto has played in this world. Just like Jiraiya inspiring new generations with his books, Kishimoto has instilled many positive things we can look up to in all of us and for that, I'm deeply grateful of him.

Hello Everyone, I might get some flame for this but I have to get this off my chest.
I absolutely hate how Kishimoto or whoever wrote Naruto The Last retconned Naruto's history and feelings for Hinata and Sakura.
I apologize to all the people who enjoyed it, I personally didn't enjoy having Sakura (the abuser and bully of Naruto during his childhood) tell Naruto (essentially the audience) : "Naruto, this thing you are feeling for Sakura is your childish, undeveloped immaturity. You should look at Hinata and love her as if she was your first love."
I consider this the laziest form of writing I have ever seen: the writers are basically telling the audience. " hey we want you to think like this and stop annoying us with this pairing war we created to get free publicity. The manga is over, most of you apparently like Hinata so now ignore everything, your hero (Naruto) is a dumb child (like everyone has been saying) and he needs his bully/crush to tell him what to feel."
This. Is. Just. Lazy. Writing!!!
Kishimoto shows his soft underbelly here because he can't write relationships to save his life. Even in the books that he had ample time to write he never gets into why Naruto and Hinata.
Kishimoto: "What do you mean 'how did Naruto realize he had feelings for Hinata?' Because I said so!"
My solution for this problem. -------‐----------------- It is pretty simple: have Naruto and Sakura be ex's. They tried to make it work after the war. They tried for a year or so... but they realized that they couldn't make it work: Sakura was away in the Hospital (ambitiously working on her own thing) Naruto wanted to be Hokage and they pur career above their relationships.
Then in Naruto the Last: Naruto can see in Hinata someone that he needs for his busy life. Sakura could be very supportive of Naruto and although she feels regret for not having worked out, she supports them with telling Naruto: "don't regret, don't keep hanging on to me. Go forward and try again. Hinata has always loved you."
I just dislike this retcon. Naruto never saw it as his mission to like Sakura as a prize for his rivalry with Sasuke. What a selfish way to write the hero of your story! To that logic: Hinata only liked Naruto because she pittied him for being the poor outcast peasant and she being the loved outcast noble.
It's such a demeaning way to solve a problem and retcon your character.
And finally: If Kishimoto can't write love: then just hire someone who write any of the other Shippuden movies: I actually think that Shion, Sara fell in love for Naruto în a believable way. Just basically: Hire someone who can write it, read it and give your stamp of approval. And give them credit as co-author.

I want to start by saying, I don't hate Boruto. I'm a fan. I've even been holding off on making this kind of rant since Boruto haters tend to be very stupid, often hating the series based on lies or their own ignorance of Naruto and I didn't want to be associated with them. I say this so you know there's no bias when I say the Boruto manga embodies literally everything wrong with the Manga industry. If I were to list everything I'd be here all day, so I'm going to hit on the key big ones: Nepotism, adaptation, and localization.

The Nepotism problem:

Let's get the easy one out of the way. Being an assistant for a mangaka is a common pathway to becoming a mangaka; however nepotism decides the treatment a mangaka gets and as manga becomes a bigger business the need for connections in the industry has only increased, leading to a nepotism problem. Mikio Ikemoto is an assistant, and more importantly, a close friend of Naruto's mangaka Masashi Kishimoto. Ikemoto is a great character designer (for male characters) but he mostly did backgrounds and speedlines. Kishi felt Ike deserved to be a mangaka as well, and wanted to gift him either a Naruto reboot or the sequel. So Ikemoto gets a manga gifted not based on anything other than friendship.
So, Ikemoto goes down the assistant to Mangaka pipeline, what's wrong with that?
In the Boruto fandom there's a pathological urge to defend him, but I'm not going to sugarcoat it: Mikio Ikemoto is an awful artist.

• He's bad at anatomy
• He has a limited range of faces, poses, and expressions he can draw so conversations are often sterile or unevenly toned
• He requires a direct reference to draw things that aren't human men, so there are fewer monsters and summons past the movie adaptation.
• He can't design women, so he references K-pop stars and models instead, so every woman of every age has high heels and short skirts/shorts/midriffs no matter their personality, form, or function. (Himawari's outfit is the most conservative and her midriff is still loose enough that action poses expose her fucking training bra). No one looks like ninjas anymore

• He can't do complex imagery, so fights enter in and out of the Speedline dimension with little to no regard for environmental factors and jutsu tend to just be simple effects
• Ikemoto takes a month to do a week's worth of work, so the pacing is awful with a lot of wasted pages on close-up conversations and reactions and yet he was still given pages in weekly shonen jump.
• Ikemoto's incompetence has affected the extended cast. In part 1, all genin are carried over from Kishimoto's movie designs(Except Yodo, of course, who needed a tube top and heels) Because Ikemoto's limited range just barely includes children. So Konoha has 6 genin, and the rest are twenty to thirty-something-year-old men. Where are all of the returning characters? Ikemoto struggles with Kishimoto's art style; he'd need to give them a redesign, like Konohamaru. but you can't exactly give Kakashi Hatake and Rock Lee a malleable black afro.

Where are you going with this?
Boruto's art exists to babysit a creepy grown-ass man because his friend knew he'd rightfully be filtered from the industry otherwise. It's the most extreme example of the manga Industry's Nepotism.

The Adaptation

So, as we've established, the manga babysits Ikemoto. The adaptation has to significantly rewrite the source material because Ikemoto's manga can't be used as storyboards. This has led to confusion as people think the anime is filler or project anime traits onto the manga. In reality it's two tellings of the same story, with the anime being better. But the real problem is there is little communication between the manga and anime. Combine this with the story having to change when Ikemoto can't draw something and you end up with an animation team that has to work on short notice with harsh deadlines and writers who have to write and flesh out an outline that can change on a dime when the nepo-baby has an issue. This staff gets put through the ringer, and the show's extended hiatus to restart production was necessary because the work environment was awful to crank out an adaptation.

The Localization

This is the last big one. Now that simul-releases are a big deal VIZ needed cheep translators who work fast. This sucks, VIZ translators are awful and underqualified. Boruto has so many mistranslations that the entire fanbase can have entire misunderstandings based on if they read fan-translations or the official translation. This has lead to what I call "The Eida Issue"
This is the last big one. Now that simul-releases are a big deal VIZ needed cheep translators who work fast. This sucks, VIZ translators are awful and underqualified. Boruto has so many mistranslations that the entire fanbase can have entire misunderstandings based on if they read fan-translations or the official translation. This has led to what I call "The Eida Issue"
What is the Eida Issue?
In Boruto there's an evil organization who's names are based on computing terms. So you have

• Code
• Bug
• Daemon

The according to the official translation, the ringleader of the gang is named "Eida". She can make people fall in love with her, see everything, and can even rewrite reality. The correct name should be Ada, as in "Ada Lovelace" the mother of computing. A major character's name is a mistranslation. This isn't rare for VIZ, Jujutsu Kaisen's Mahoraga is also a mistranslated name. The problem is that the mistranslation isn't the result of a misunderstanding. Even directly translating the name without knowledge of the reference would yield "Ada" and not "Eida". If VIZ were using Google Translate, they'd still be more accurate than the official translation. They also mistranslate conversations that require nuance. Emblematic of the lack of qualification of Viz translators has to be when on of them went online and complained about how the manga is sexist. This had everyone on the edge of their seats? what was so egregiously sexist that a translator cursed out an author? A mistranslation.
At one point Hinata asks Naruto to come help him save Boruto, to which he says what would accurately be translated as "Don't be silly, what would happen if you died". but It could be localized with any form of shocked rejection and be more accurate. However it contains the word "Baka" and I think you know where this is going. The translator thought Naruto was saying "Stop being an idiot"
Shikamaru adds "Can you please listen to him, at least for me" but the translator translated this as "Do me a favor and don't talk back". Had the translator not complained on twitter this mistranslation would have been official, just like "Eida". There is no care put into the localization process. It's cheap and rushed and likely prime to be replaced by AI, and no where is that more obvious than Boruto, a manga that would be better translated by AI.
There is seriously nothing good about this manga anymore.

I had this random idea today and I want to share it with this community. If it happens to inspire you to write a fic using it, go for it! If you want to brainstorm, feel free to contact me (you can also find me at FFN and AO3 under this username).
“I don’t remember ever reading a GOOD Naruto/femKurama fic”. This thought kept me wondering about plausible scenarios in which this pairing could happen. At some point, the idea of Kurama possessing someone’s body flashed in my mind and it stayed. All of that to say; what if Kurama possessed Tayuya?
Idk how my brain worked to get to Tayuya, but I kinda like the idea lol. What I am envisioning is, during the “Sasuke Retrieval Arc”, Tayuya is left almost dead after her battle against Shikamaru and Temari. With no small amount of effort and struggle, Tayuya manages to stumble her way towards Orochimaru’s base. Eventually, she reaches the Valley of the End and finds an unconscious Naruto (Sasuke nowhere near to be found). Tayuya’s strength left her and she falls near Naruto. Unluckily for her, the Kyuubi’s seal had weakened a bit and Kurama finds “a way out”.
While it’s chakra is healing Naruto, Kurama senses Tayuya’s presence and make a leap of faith, of sorts. Using Tayuya’s Curse Seal as a way in, Kurama send its consciousness and as much chakra as possible to try and possess Tayuya. The Uzumaki girl (yes I’m saying Tayuya is an Uzumaki because… why not? The more Uzumaki the better!) stands no chance, really. Kurama easily destroys Tayuya’s consciousness and replace it with its own. The fox also makes quick work of Orochimaru’s chakra and soul fragment within the Curse Seal and stores as much Bijuu chakra it can in it (while preserving the useful parts of the seal, like the Nature Chakra gathering part. I love Tayuya’s Cursed transformation!). Of course, Kurama healed it’s new body, for it was in the verge of death.
However, the Kyuubi quickly realized that there were a few flaws on the plan. Kurama had never truly felt pain before (at least not in the way a being with an actual physical body does). The sensory overload was just too much for Kurama, who passed out not long after. I mean, even if the wounds were healed, I assume the pain would linger for a while (not to mention that the “possession” process might not be pleasant lol. And I also assume that it would be quite taxing for the body to adapt to its new and far more potent Chakra).
Eventually, Kakashi finds both Naruto and Tayuya/Kurama and brings them back to Konoha. So, yeah, Kurama is now “trapped” inside a human body lol. It would be interesting to see how she would cope with having human emotions and “handicaps” (far too many of those for her taste, I bet). It would also be interesting if Kurama inherited Tayuya’s memories. And how would Kurama and Naruto fall in love? Speaking of Naruto: what about the rest of Kurama’s Chakra sealed inside his body? Now that it doesn’t have a consciousness, would it be harder or easier for Naruto to control it?
