2024.05.15 09:28 Hemp_jam Help me find one flash game

  1. Years between 2010-2014
  2. PC. I found it on one of the sites with flash games
  3. Horropuzzle/simulator
The game included a dark room with something like pool with water in the corner. It was dark and there were some worms on the floor. If i dragged the worm by the cursor, i could move it. I remember that when i threw the worm in the water he just died, but also i could cross them and turn into sth like sea urchin, that could live under the water. Unfortunately i closed the game after a minute, because was very scared and didn't see it anymore. Maybe i will can answer some questions, if it will be useful. Thanks for reading

2024.05.15 09:27 Darth_Oba Commendations

I've only started playing this game for a few months now, but I've noticed that noone in a squad really commend other sqd mates at the end of a match. Hell even in a good match if I don't bring it up majority won't give the extra points for commendations. So my question basically is, why?

2024.05.15 09:21 NearlyDeadWeight What’s the best way to use TDP limit (if at all)?

Let me explain a little bit. I tinker with my games and software a lot, as I’m sure many of us on here do.
The steam deck put me on the hunt for getting optimal performance with minimal power draw, which is IMO the ultimate goal for mobile gaming, I think, and something the Deck is really good at.
The issue I’ve run into however, is when I’m tweaking games’ individual profiles for TDP limit, I have noticed that by the time I set games to draw enough power where they run at my ideal stable frame rate assuming I am locking the frame rate (which I always do via one way or another) couldn’t the TDP just be unlocked at that point? I haven’t run across a case yet where the game is somehow I’m using an extra power draw to generate extra frames if it’s capped at 30/45/60/90 etc., so I’m not sure what the point of using the TDP limit is at that point.
Put differently, the question I’m asking is for somebody who may be a little bit more technically savvy than me to help me understand what the ideal use case is for using TDP at all if you’re using a capped frame rate.

2024.05.15 09:13 Beautiful_Location76 How do you interpret these bars from Kendrick's America Has a Problem verse?

Say Bey, yes, America got a problem Geeked up, choosy love, well, they chose violence Universal, please don't play possum I'm a businеssman doin' as follows
I noticed at least six or seven bars in Kendrick's recent diss tracks opposing the music industry, from very simple bars like "I'll crash out like fuck rap," "fuck you n***** and fuck the industry too," and "the industry can hate me, fuck em all and they mama," to what feels like a foreboding line in "the industry's cooked as I pick the carcass apart," and then obviously the more detailed demonization that makes up a lot of the second verse of Meet the Grahams. I've honestly really been wondering if these could be hints that his upcoming project will further explore corruption and depravity in the music industry and if his criticism of Drake was just a precursor, but that question could have a whole thread to itself.
With these themes in mind though, these bars stuck out to me when I listened to America Has a Problem again recently, but I'm honestly not sure what to make of them.
The most obvious line to consider is "Universal, please don't play possum." Were there any specific events going on at the time of this track's release that he might be referring to? Do you think he was already planning to go against Drake or the music industry at the time of writing this, and this will be one of those bars that is a lot more interesting down the line than it was initially? Anything else I or other fans might not be aware of here?
He sets interesting context for this line by referencing the title of the track and declaring that America indeed has a problem, and then elaborating that an ambiguous "they" have chosen violence. (Who is they? America as a whole? Pop culture? The music industry again? Universal specifically?) Then he follows up with the businessman line, which I also don't really know what to make of. Maybe the "doing as follows" bit is meant to be read as him having issues with the industry, but also recognizing the need for him to play the game (do as follows) to a certain extent in order to maintain his influence.
Who knows, maybe a few of these lines just weren't meant to be looked into that deeply, and he was just flowing, but Kendrick has conditioned me to really investigate what he might have in mind when he writes, and given the context of his recent songs and his attitude about the music industry, I'd be really curious to see if anyone has any extra thoughts about these lines that might give them more context or fill us in on what Kendrick is getting at here.
Do you think his next project will expand further on his issues with the music industry? I think that could be a fascinating angle to hear Kendrick's perspective on, especially considering again that there seems to be a lot of behavior going on behind the scenes that he takes issue with.
Edit: Right as I posted this, I considered that "doing as follows" may actually reference his next few lines:
Truthfully, I be lyin' in my rap song 'Cause I always fail to mention I'd slap homiе His career didn't come with no life insurance Hope his day one fans got some facts on him
Maybe this was also a hint that he was going to go at Drake and potentially others soon. He's acknowledging that he has built a very peaceful persona, but wants to remind us that he'll still slap homie if necessary, as he has clearly proven in the past couple of weeks. Those last two bars could even be taken as directly talking about Drake, saying that his career isn't big enough to protect his life itself (either from literal death or from fucking his life up by messing with minors and/or sex traffickers), and that he hopes Drake's biggest fans come to realize what he's actually been doing. Those same bars don't just have to reference Drake though, the same could be said for any big artists who Kendrick is anticipating being convicted of awful stuff down the line. So perhaps "doing as follows" was meant to prepare us for this brief exploration of how/why he'll slap homie.

2024.05.15 09:11 No-Upstairs7333 ABYG kung nagdesisyon na agad ako at hindi na ayusin?

Long post ahead
Hello, my gf and I broke up days ago. This is the first time I’m starting to lose interest in everything, I always tried to escape in games but this time I get tired of it too so I want to let this out.
She tried ghosting me, I was lucky I followed my instinct to kinda hack my way in to her messenger and found out about it (read a chat with one of her friends) even if it meant I invaded her privacy.
I’m not perfect, we had our ups and downs, I had red flags and she did too. The reason I read why she was leaving me was because she said she deserves peace of mind, I was not respecting her anymore, rude words whenever we had argument and the silent treatment that she wanted me to change and she said that I did not change, she gave me a chance and she is done and she is spent. Yes, that is true I am guilty of it, I am trying to change, but it is still not enough or she saw too little of it, definitely my fault.
But then I also found out that she was talking to her guy friend she met at the same dating app that she met me in. (I was not able to see the messages and no sign of it because of the new encryption of messenger).
I don’t know how long they have been chatting, I have no access to her social media account. As to how I found is that I only saw a few in her email and this is not accurate idk how or why meta sends this email and not all messages she receives in messenger are emailed to notify, only a few. There was 5 emails in different dates this month that notifies she received a message in her messenger from this guy.
I thought we were still okay this past month, although I noticed some changes that she doesn’t want me to hug her anymore for long when sleeping or cuddling, saying that it is hot. She is getting cold in the chat, I always tried to be lively in the chat but it was not as it was how it supposed to be. I ignored this knowing she is busy with her work.
Days before our break up, she met with the guy she was talking to after work. She did ask for permission from me and the reason is it was all just about catching up with one another and “Kaibigan niya lang”. I agreed even if I did not really want to because I was complacent we had an app that is called life360 and I can check up on her wherever she is going. This did not go well for me, as I was monitoring the app from time to time, I thought it was cancelled as her location never moved from her house. Later that day I asked her about it and she told me it was not cancelled and that she left her phone at home and only brought her sister’s phone. I was kinda mad and it resulted to me ignoring her.
I did not know that this was the start of her ghosting me, she also ignored me and let it pass, I messaged her asking for something like to start a conversation again and make it up again. But she still ignored me. And this was when I did it, going through her messenger and email. I also tried checking on some of her social media platform, I found out she has a threads account which I did not know that she had one. I saw there her 2 posts that caught my attention. It says “You are one of a kind”, and the other “In another life, maybe we met each other earlier then I would love you” posted this month, one that is days ago and one that is weeks ago. It was definitely not for me.
I felt angry with all that I found out. As she was ignoring me in social medias, I emailed her to confront her and tell that I found out that she was ghosting me and all the other things, some insults as to how the guy is just a friend despite all the things I learned of, and if it was me in her place and did it, I bet her reaction would be worse. I also said that it is the last time she will hear from me whatever she says.
She did replied saying that there is no need to explain to me and it is okay if I think that she is cheating and the post on her threads were not meant for that guy.
So it was meant for someone else? Another guy I do not know of? A quick thought that popped in my mind.
I ignored her, blocked her on everything, I did not try to fix it anymore. Did I do the right thing, I wanted to fix it but with all that I learned of, it was too much for me.
With everything that I found out there is still a question in my mind.
The question now in my mind is if that I’m the real reason or did she really cheated or maybe both…. Now my emotions are being mixed with anger whenever I think about it.
ABYG na hindi ko na inayos at hinayaan nalang at iniwan na din siya? O mali ako at nag overthink lang ako at ako talaga ang rason kung bakit niya ako iiwan nang walang pasabi.

Weird display during minutes randomly
I was wondering if it ever happens to you. I have a 1080ti still working. Sometime in windows, the screen get weird for no reason for 20-30 sec, where there vertical lines seem brighter. Never seen it in games as it is subtil enough.
I took Pictures of it (pixel 6). I know there is a lot of "AI" work on the picture, but still, I can't quite get the red and green picture showing that much on camera when everything is normal.
My question, do you think it is coming from software (nvidia/windows), screen (Omen 35 Hp), or graphic card (1080TI evga)? All drivers up to date.

2024.05.15 09:08 Chaotic_Mess235 Looking for a new VR headset

Hello everyone,
I’ve been invested in the VR world for the best part of 3 years or so. Recently, my Vive Cosmos has decided to stop displaying anything. I was already considering upgrading the rig, but this is just given me confirmation to do so. I’m looking for suggestions for a new headset altogether. I really enjoyed having integrated cameras and I’d like to keep that feature. The Vive Index, while interesting, is overkill for me. I’d prefer something similar to the specs of the Vive Cosmos if possible.
Ideally, the headset will be able to run at a high (ish) refresh rate, have a good resolution, and excellent tracking. Note that this will be primarily used for games like: Gorn, the Forest, beat sabre and Blade and Sorcery.
This is my hobby so budget isn’t a great issue here - under 1.4K (Aus) would be ideal.
Optional: possibility for wireless connectivity and foot tracking. This is not necessary in the slightest but I’d enjoy the option.
If possible, I’d REALLY like to stay away from meta or anything that requires a Facebook account.
Thanks for the advice in advance.

2024.05.15 09:00 AutoModerator [Crack Watch] Weekly question thread

Ask any question you like, but also please read the Beginner's guide to CrackWatch before doing so

Q&A

Q: When will [insert game name here] be cracked?

A: STOP! CrackWatch members are not psychic. Games get cracked by completely ANONYMOUS SCENE GROUPS who don't disclose their progress or plans to the general public so NO ONE knows WHEN and IF a certain game will be cracked.

Q: What are all these NFO thingies? Where do I download it?

A: NFOs are text files included with game releases that contain information about the releases. CrackWatch only informs which games have been cracked. To download look for the releases on CS.RIN or torrent websites. Useful websites can be found in The Beginners Guide or Pirated Games Mega Thread .

Q: WTF is Denuvo?

A: Denuvo is a Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology used to protect games from being cracked. Games that have Denuvo are harder to crack and usually take much longer. See Pinned Post for a list of Denuvo games.

Q: An update is out, but it includes the base game as well! Can I only download the update without redownloading the entire game?

A: Yes. CS.RIN is your friend.

2024.05.15 08:57 Cheesy-Tube Chapter 2 is now ready with an image attached

Chapter 2 is now ready with an image attached
Chapter 2 - Scouting and Selection
On the ships, the vikings had reached the foggy place they went to before, in the previously failed attempt to take the nest the previous time. And while Stoick looked out on the blinded horizon, he would call out orders until he was approached by another viking.
Phlegma: “Erm, Stoick?”
Stoick: “What is it Phlegma?…”
Phlegma: “Is everything alright?… You’ve had your nose incredibly out of joint after what Hiccup revealed and now this?… Is there any reason to it at all?”
Stoick: “The plan is simple Phlegma… Find the nest, destroy it and kill the dragons off…”
Phlegma: “I know but why attack now? It doesn’t seem… You know… Quite as planned out as the last few times we did this…”
Stoick: “Why are you questioning me about this?”
Phlegma: “You’ve hardly said a word besides barking orders at us, even Spitelout is getting concerned…”
He just ignores her, and continues to stare out into the fog.
Phlegma: “Did something else happen with Hiccup?…”
Stoick: “Don’t ever mention his name again…”
Phlegma: “What? Why?…”
Stoick: “He’s nothing to do with me anymore…”
Another viking on his ship who hears this, then approaches Stoick with a question.
Hoark: “Stoick?… Did you disown your boy?… Over this?…”
Stoick: “Well I’m not holding a banner about it but yes… He sided with the dragons and now my credibility here is just about ruined…”
Spitelout: “Well good riddance I say, that kid’s been nothing but trouble, I just hope he hasn’t influenced my boy-o to do something similar.”
Phlegma: “Hey! Don’t you start Spitelout, or I’ll toss you overboard!”
Stoick: “Everyone shut up! This isn’t helping… Just get back to the search.”
He barked out as everyone with disapproving, tense or frightened looks continue to manage their posts. Avoiding sea stacks, and keeping an eye out for any dragons that would try to approach.
Meanwhile back on Berk, Hiccup and Astrid reach the arena, eyeing off a cage thinking about the dragon that would suit her best, as well as trying to look for Toothless.
Astrid: “This is… Definitely crazy…”
Hiccup: “Like I said earlier Astrid, crazy is what we do best here.”
They then hears footsteps approaching, which Hiccup didn’t anticipate since everyone else had left the island. After a few seconds they stop, and as they turn around to look who it was, they see the other four dragon training students. One of them, Fishlegs, then starts to speak.
Fishlegs: “If you’re planning on getting eaten, I’d definitely go with the Gronckle."
Astrid: “What are you guys doing here? And why would you say something like that Fishlegs?”
Fishlegs: “Sorry… Group anger makes me nervous and I’m just trying to fit in with it…”
Hiccup: “Save your breath… It’s not like you’ll be using it much to curse me out anyway…”
Snotlout: “What even are you planning?”
Hiccup: “Self imposed exile… It’s better off this way given the circumstances, and don’t you guys try and talk me out of it… There’s nothing left for me here on Berk, I’m essentially just another mouth to feed and I’ve just eaten my last morsel…”
Fishlegs: “Hiccup, I know what I said earlier may have come off as harsh, but we’re not here to ridicule you.”
Hiccup: “You aren’t?”
Tuffnut: “We aren’t?”
Fishlegs: “Of course not guys, we talked about this earlier?”
Ruffnut: “Oh right, we just tune out a lot of the time.”
Snotlout: “Ugh… You two…”
Fishlegs: “Anyway we’re here because we want to come with you both.”
Hiccup: “Wait, what!?”
Astrid: “And how do you know I’m going with him?”
She asks in shock, as Snotlout then points to her basket of assorted items.
Snotlout: “We figured it out as soon as you ran out of the house with that basket.”
Fishlegs: “And after what we saw you attempt to do today, we connected the dots with the previous lessons we all had.”
Hiccup: So… You knew?…”
Fishlegs: “Yes.”
Hiccup: “And you’re not upset at this? You don’t think I’m a traitor?”
Fishlegs: “Absolutely not.”
Snotlout: “Not really.”
Ruffnut: “I’m actually very impressed by this.”
Tuffnut: “I’m still slightly confused but it seems everyone’s in agreement with you here so, I’m with you little dude.”
Hiccup: “Guys… I- I don’t know what to say…”
Astrid: “Well you can start with what your plan is for us to leave here.”
Hiccup: “Good point, but what I need to do first is find Toothless.”
After he explains this, he hears Toothless’s trademark roar in a cage next to the Gronckle’s, and saw a flash of purple underneath the door. Deducing his best friend was locked up in there, he approaches the cage, opens the door and in a flash ends up on the floor with the Night Fury licking his face.
Hiccup: “Aaahhhh! Agh, hey, I’m glad to see you too bud! It’ll be okay now that you’re out of there.”
Toothless ends his lick barrage and lets out a purr, before seeing Astrid, and smiling at her. Eventually turning to the rest of the teenagers with a snarl, and charging up a fireball until Hiccup intervenes.
Hiccup: Whoa, whoa, Toothless, Stand down! They’re not going to hurt you.
The dragon then lets the fireball dissipate in his mouth, after letting out a cough and continues to stare at them.
Fishlegs: “Oooh! A Night Fury! I never dreamed I’d see one in the flesh!”
Tuffnut: “Um… What happened to his tail?”
Hiccup: “Oh, er… Well you guys remember when I said to my father that I shot down a Night Fury and none of call believed me?…”
They all nod with scattered ‘yes’s and ‘uh-huh’s after he asks this.
Hiccup: “Well that was the result of it…”
Fishlegs: “And did you make that artificial one for him?”
Hiccup: “Yes, because otherwise he wouldn’t be able to fly.”
Snotlout: "Oh great, not just great, perfect even. The dragon lover has hurt one of his closest friends.”
Astrid: “This was before he and Toothless became friends”
Tuffnut: “Why does he call him Toothless? All dragons have sharp teeth.”
Hiccup: “Show ‘em bud.”
Toothless then demonstrates to them all his retractable teeth, forcing them into his jaw and allowing the group to admire it for a while, before unsheathing them again.
Hiccup: “That is why.”
Ruffnut: “That’s incredible! I’m very impressed Hiccup~”
She responds in a strangely flirty tone, causing Hiccup to become nervous and Astrid to stare her down.
Fishlegs: “So… Um… How do we get our own dragons?”
Hiccup: “I’ll show you, just do as I tell you, and you could very well make a fire-breathing friend for life.”
He begins to explain with a more confident smile, as he approaches the Deadly Nadder’s cage, and opens it.
Back with the boats, Stoick’s crew ends up becoming more despondent as after a considerable amount of time they still don’t end up closer to the nest. Assuming they merely went in circles, he then orders the ships to split up and take other paths, causing more confusion in the soldiers.
Stoick: “I don’t care if you don’t like it, I’m the chief, and my way goes!”
Spitelout: “Stoick, we’ve done this once before and we never return with a full crew afterwards!”
Stoick: “Oh would you like to be running this particular mission?”
Spitelout: “I’m just pointing out that maybe-”
Stoick: “Well you’ll have time to point things out when we get there, now keep your positions!”
He goes back to eyeing out the fog, while Spitelout angrily informs the rowers to keep moving, and orders two ships to split from the main group and row further to the starboard side.
Back at the arena, and Hiccup gently coaxes the last dragon to exit his cage, the Monstrous Nightmare.
Hiccup: “It’s okay… We’ve done this once before big guy.”
He leads him further out into the arena. Even though the teens had already seen him doing this with the Gronckle, the Zippleback and the Nadder, they still watch on in awe. Hiccup, then having lead the Monstrous Nightmare out, then leads him to Snotlout.
Snotlout: “Wait! What are you-!?”
Hiccup: “Whoa, just relax… It’s okay, It’s okay.”
He replies to both Snotlout and the dragon, as he grabs Snotlout’s hand. Putting it gently on the Monstrous Nightmare’s nose, causing the dragon to purr, and Snotlout to have a small giggle in disbelief.
Snotlout: “Okay, this is amazing! Hey, where are you going Hiccup?”
Hiccup: “Well, you’re all going to need something to help you hold on for a while, because we’re going to be riding these guys, to find ourselves a new home. Now there has to be some rope in here somewhere…”
He begins to look through the munitions trough, then hearing a voice by the gate calling out to them all.
Gobber: “Actually Hiccup, you could make them their own saddles, you have the time after all.”
Hiccup: “Gobber? How did you know about that? And why are you not with the rest of the village?”
Gobber: “I heard there was a slight tiff between you and your father, and wanted to at least try and help you out.”
Hiccup: “Well that’s an understatement… As far as he’s concerned he’s not even my father anymore…”
Gobber: “So I heard, and that was wrong, so I didn’t join him on his insanely deadly mission. What I will do though is help you kids out, so what can I start with?”
Hiccup: “Well if you insist Gobber, and we’re going to need measurements for everybody and their new dragons. Just to make sure we have enough material to make the saddles, and ensure they don’t come off while we’re flying.”
Gobber: “Righty-ho, I’ll see if I can find the tape measure!”
He replies with determination, as he and Hiccup rush off to the smithy to get the saddles ready, while the rest of the teens acquaint themselves with their new dragons.
Tuffnut: “I still don’t get why we have to share one…”
Astrid: “Because all the other dragons have been taken by the rest of us.”
Fishlegs: “Plus, among certain disciplines you guys work far better together, instead of apart.”
Ruffnut: “No denying that!~”
Fishlegs: “The Zippleback is much the same way, and with you guys sharing him, it would be far easier for things like rescue missions, search and seize-”
Tuffnut: “Ultimate destruction?”
Fishlegs: “What!? No!-”
Snotlout: “Leave it Fishface, they’re already engrained in it…”
An exasperated sigh escapes Fishlegs’s mouth, as he, Snotlout and Astrid are forced to watch this spectacle go on. Hiccup meanwhile, ends up having another heart-to-heart with Gobber.
Gobber: “So how long has this thing with dragons been going on?”
Hiccup: “Er… Sort of on and off since the early morning, raid months ago.”
Gobber: “When you said you hit a Night Fury?”
Hiccup: Yeah… Anyway it turned out you and everyone else were right… I’m not a dragon killer… Not even a proper viking in their eyes… But what I became, was something more valuable. A dragon trainer.”
Gobber: “Dragon trainer?”
Hiccup: “Understanding their ins and outs, gaining trust with tossing away weapons and feeding them fish, and in Toothless’s case, helping him regain his ability to fly.”
Gobber: “That’s quite the achievement.”
Hiccup: “Heh, you must be the only adult here that thinks that… Everyone else had kind of deemed me as an outcast… No one looks in my direction just like they used to before all this, and now even my dad doesn’t want a bar of me…”
Gobber: “Hiccup… I know you’re going through a rough time at the moment, but is this really the way to go?… You’ve got an entire lifetime laid out ahead of you lad. And I-”
Hiccup: “What life?… It honestly feels like I’m no longer welcome here by anyone, especially my own father… I’ve mentioned to you before that he doesn’t listen to me… I just wish for once he would realise that I could have valuable insight into all this stuff about Berk, vikings and the dragons, but he’s just too… Stubborn and set in his ways…”
Hearing this soliloquy, Gobber simply sighs and puts his hand on Hiccup’s shoulder.
Gobber: “I’m sure things will turn around for you soon Hiccup… In the meantime at least you’ll have your friends around you… Speaking of which, we should make a start on their saddles, shouldn’t we?”
Hiccup: “Yep, you’re right Gobber, now let’s get that forge lit-”
Not realising Toothless had followed them there, he lets out a plasma blast reigniting the coals. Giving Gobber a surprised gasp, but Hiccup looks over at the both of them with confusing before turning into amusement.
Hiccup: “Just so you know Toothless, you didn’t have to do that, because you’re not a tool, but thanks.”
He replies to his best bud as he sets some old discarded metal on top of the hot coals, and begins pressing on the bellows. After some time, they arrive back at the arena with the finished saddles. And after putting them onto the dragons, get ready to set off.
Hiccup: “Well I guess this is it Gobber, I’ll make sure to write every so often.”
Gobber: “Och, I have faith in ye, lad. Don’t ye worry”
Snotlout: “Yeah, but it’s going to be ages before the mail arrives at either location.”
Hiccup: “But it won’t have to”
He replies to Snotlout with a grin, as he unleashes another secret weapon, in the form of a Terrible Terror with a cylindrical container loosely tied around his neck.
Snotlout: “Whoa!”
Tuffnut: “What the-?”
Fishlegs: “Wow.”
Hiccup: “Gang, this here is Messenger. He’s going to be part of our new mail delivery service, or Terror mail as I like to call it”
Gobber: “Terror Mail?”
Hiccup: “Yep, this little tube around his neck, will be used to store telegrams and all sorts of written documents, and transport them to the recipient carefully without getting dropped, drenched, or torched”
Astrid: “And what if Stoick were to see him arriving on or leaving Berk?”
Hiccup: “Honestly, I can’t even try think about it… But that’s why Gobber when he arrives with anything, you are to keep him in the shop, hidden up in the back corners so no-one discovers him.”
Gobber: “Er… Righty-ho, I’ll do my best…”
Hiccup: “Good, ready to fly gang?”
Teens: “Yes!”
Hiccup: “Alright, now hold tight.”
He informs them as he sets his leg into Toothless’s mechanical stirrups.
Hiccup: “Let’s go bud.”
With a mighty roar, Toothless rushes upwards into the air, the rest of the teens follow suit. Astrid taking the position directly behind Toothless and Hiccup, Snotlout close behind them, the twins slightly lagging due to another argument, and Fishlegs pulling up the rear with his Gronckle. Gobber watches them fly off, giving them a send off wave as he heads back to the blacksmith stall.
And that's the last teaser I put out, the rest will be on Wattpad

2024.05.15 08:55 Hunnyandmilk My rich friend is making a student film about being poor and I hate it

I grew up in a small rural ski town where I was one of the poorest kids in my elementary school. My mom had just moved my brother and me away from my dad and we were struggling, we lived in motels for a bit and crashed at some of her friends' houses before moving into a cheap basement suit with two bedrooms, my brother got his own while I shared a room with my mom. There was only one twin-sized bed so she would usually sleep on our armchair in the living room so I could have the bed. She worked two jobs at a grocery and convenience store while putting herself through night school in the town over. We didn't have much money for food so my school lunches were always one item, usually some form of squash or a Ziploc of lentils. Being in a mountain town in Canada you can imagine how cold it was in the winter; we didn't have a car so my brother and I had to walk to school in freezing temperatures, by the time we got there I was in tears with a red nose and my hair frozen solid. It took a while for things to get better but they did when my mom got her nursing license and picked up a stable job, eventually, we moved up to middle class and the moment I was old enough to work I wouldn't stop. I saved almost everything I made from the age of thirteen. My brother joined the military and I focused on school and sports so I could get into college which I'm glad to say I successfully did. I moved to the city for school and everything was so different, all of the friends I made came from ridiculously rich families and went out almost every night since they had the money to spend on drinks and clubs. I'm in engineering while the majority of my friends are in some form of the arts, we got along because I'm a bookworm. I was speaking with one of them who I'll call Shannon, she's in screenwriting and cinematography in the hopes of becoming a director. She mentioned to me that she wants to make her student film centred around poverty and the working class to shine a light on it. During this discussion, The Florida Project (a great movie) was brought up, I told her that I related heavily to that movie and she kind of huffed a laugh and then said "What? Did you live in a motel or something?" To which I answered "Yes," With a straight face. I could tell that Shannon felt bad since she clearly didn't know how I was brought up since it isn't something I tend to slip into casual conversation. Shannon asked more questions about my childhood and what it was like to live in poverty, we left the topic alone after that day but two weeks later she came to me with her screenplay and asked me to read it. I was appalled to say the very least. She had taken my very personal stories and turned them into an extra shitty episode of Euphoria. Everything I had told her had been put into her script but not as I told them, the main character went through these things and was unphased by everything that happened, disappointed in her mother for not doing enough and fighting with her evil drug addict brother. I wanted to cry, specifically at the depiction she had turned my family into, my hard-working and loving mother was written off to just be a slacker when in reality she was doing absolutely everything she could to give both me and my brother a good life and then my straight edge military brother was turned into the scum of the earth. The depiction of my poverty she wrote had me sick to my stomach, the main character was a sex addict, the mother was an alcoholic, and the brother had a drug addiction as well as abused the main character. I told her that not every person living in poverty was poor because of an addiction or crutch and sometimes it was just an unfortunate circumstance, in our case, it was fleeing from my abusive dad and trying to get on our feet. It also irked me how she had written it to be completely tragic and sad but I was a child for most of it and didn't realize how bad it was; when the power would go out it would be a fun game of lights out for me and my brother, we didn't understand why my mom was so stressed out when we had to stay in hotels, all we knew was that we got to share a bunk bed and go swimming in the indoor pool. I wanted her to understand that we were still regular people when we were impoverished, we were just that, regular people who didn't have much. Shannon seemed embarrassed that I was so upset about what she wrote, it took me fifteen minutes to read the entire thing and we sat in complete silence as I did so, when I reached the last page I was crying. At first, she thought I was crying because I was so moved by her glamourization of addiction and poverty before I told her that I hated it. That was when Shannon began to cry. I had shut down her screenplay as soon as I finished it and I asked why she was crying. She moved on to say "It's loosely based on what you told me, it isn't meant to be you and your family." I wanted to laugh when she said this, even the name of the main character rhymed with mine, she kept the tragic events and cut out the good memories as well as the good nature of my mom and brother, I was livid. I want to tell you about one scene that made me want to strangle her: The family's power went out on the main character's birthday so they lit tea candles to see in the dark, the mother lit a cigarette with one of the candles before calling her daughter a slut and putting it out in her birthday cake- what happened in real life was the power had gone out on my birthday, my mom worked all day and came home with a discounted pride cake since my birthday is in June. My brother and I had lit the tea candles long before my mom came home, she smeared the 'Happy Pride!' text on the cake replaced 'pride' with 'birthday' using Nesquik then used the tea candles to light the candles for my cake. This was the first time I had ever gotten a birthday cake, I was eleven and it's one of my happiest memories to date. I'm realizing this is too long so I'll finish it off, she's proceeding with the student film despite me asking her not to and offering different plots to follow instead. Shannon had blocked my number and I haven't heard from her in a week aside from awkwardly seeing her around campus to which she looks the other direction and ignores me.

2024.05.15 08:52 Equivalent_Sorbet_73 Noob question regarding rare drops and GE

I'm new to osrs, just started putting more time in the game
My question is why are certain item drops so coveted if they can just be bought on grand exchange. Example: Mega Rare Drop table from Master Clue: Ankou's Leggings, and even T bow
I saw a clip of someone getting Ankou's leggings and freak out, I don't get why if you can just go on GE and buy it for a few mil. T bow is more expensive but still couldn't a few of these high ranking players afford one on GE? So why do 5,000 completes to get one?
Very noob question but genuinely don't understand this
