2024.05.15 10:09 guilhermeseven Skincare Routine for Bearded Guys: Do I Need to Moisturize Under My Beard?

I'm a 30-year-old guy who's recently jumped onto the skincare train, and I'm already seeing some great results. However, I've got a question specifically for my fellow bearded brethren: when it comes to our daily routines, should we be paying special attention to the skin under our beards?
Here's the deal: I've been diligently following my routine, but I've been skipping over the areas covered by my beard. It's not that I don't care about the skin under there, it's just that it's harder to reach and moisturize properly. So, I'm wondering if I'm missing out on something crucial by neglecting that area.
Should I be incorporating my products under the beard as well, or is there a different approach I should be taking? And if so, are there specific products tailored for the skin beneath beards that I should consider?
I'm eager to hear your thoughts and advice on this matter. Thanks in advance for sharing your wisdom!

2024.05.15 09:29 monachopsis-2000 desperate… RELENTLESS 12 month old

My son was your typical newborn as far as sleep goes. We transitioned him to his crib around 4 months because he was outgrowing his bassinet. Making the switch to the crib was like magic, he slept ALL NIGHT. Not a peep. This continued other than a few rough nights following days where he got off routine due to travel or being sick, totally understandable. We never intentionally sleep trained him, we would try to put him to sleep but more often than not he would fight it, so we would just put him in his crib with his light/sound machine (baby Einstein sea soother thing) and he would wiggle and babble his own way to sleep.
Fast forward to 10 months old.. He had his first sleepover at grandmas for two nights in a row and he has been an entirely different baby since then. We were very clear with her, get him drowsy and put him down, he can handle it from there. Apparently she rocked him to sleep and picked him up any time he made a noise throughout the night. (He randomly cries out or fusses until he gets readjusted). So bedtime has been hell since his return.
Not only is he incredibly hard to settle for bedtime, he doesn’t stay asleep for more than 2-3 hours. Ive tried settling him and returning to bed, I’ve fed him as a last resort, but more often than not we end up on the couch together. We spent a week trying to “sleep train” I guess. It did not go well and he became increasingly angry. He will not CIO, he screams bloody murder only getting louder until he can’t catch his breath, he will throw himself down pounding on the mattress, he stands and bangs on the rails of his crib.
Someone tell me how to put this kid in check so I can get some real sleep.

2024.05.15 08:27 Independent-Mix5891 Decision to take ms in cs or stay in job here in India.

Hi guys, Firstly thank you in advance for your valuable time & advices.
Background : no assets at all nor father is working now as he recently got treated with by pass surgery and the vein from which leg took was infected and due to that since past 6 months every day going through dressing. Again few days back my father faced some swelling in one hand which doctor said that it was due to medicines and said to need to be treated with a injection. I also have my older sister lucky to have her but my parents want to do her marriage asap as she got aged.
I am loving a girl since my undergrad before judging it love or not. I feel loyalty matters. So I just want to stay there because all the time I really feel privileged to have such kind of love My bad luck as always. After one year into this her father died and her mother found out about us.
I want to purse ca just I know that they paid well but due to financial issues unable to and joined engineering out of nowhere. Selected ece as people said that you can choose hardware or software. So I did not have knowledge about it. During my engineering tenure I collected more backlogs nevertheless to set things right. I cleared all and became first one from dept to get oncampus job. The prof of dumbness I have is that I don't know about IIT nit until my campus recruitment training after 6th semester but I saw lot of posters and ads about them but never have info about them.
I did not join my campus job as her parents need assets which I don't have one. I thought I need to join some product based company for higher package and also I feel like I love doing coding but after 2 months of graduation my father came to me and said to earn some as due to covid he is not getting any work. So I selected mnc over mindtree just because it has lower bond period but as soon as I joined in rush to make money tried digital exam failed twice which wasted 1 year but next 6 months I cleared it but they took 5 months to release ther score. So 2 years completed like this I realised and don't know what to do. Upon observing my colleagues pursuing ms I thought it might have give me better chance to make her parents accept me. So I started preparing in a way to graduate as soon as possible earliest I can join is spring 2024 intake. In this application process my father got hospitalised as I want to leave job I did not added my parents for health insurance. So all the saving vanished anyway I got rejections from all colleges I applied due to I applied late and also have backlogs. I even applied to some top 300 univs for ms in cs because I really want to challenge my self and to prove myself that I do have more caliber. Then after that tried for summer intake but then realised that no colleges were there in summer hence again applied lately to fall 2024 again same story rejected from which I want to pursue like suny buffalo, unv of Georgia & unv of south florida.
Recently, I got admission to University of albama at birmingham for ms in CS which costs me around just 46 lakhs for tution fee itself cuz they gave me extra course and extra tution fee ( integrated masters program. Not exactly direct ms in cs admit ). With expenses it might go upto 60 lakhs I think and they gave me one time scholarship of 1.5k.I need to pay deposit of 2000$ around 1.70 lakhs which I don't have so I need to take loan to pay this and also to pay processing fee to get loan sanction letter. I think I need to take for visa slot, travelling ticket fee etc..
So this is it guys I don't know what to do really. Since graduating in rush to ear some assets did not think clearly and did not take any good decision. I don't have anyone to give them clear picture to take informed decision I know most of them will say to stay here. Anyway now
Pros of ms in cs : 1. I will learn computer science which I think I like but not sure. 2. If I get job I think it will atleast give me some chance to have conv with her single parent mother.
Cons : 1. Huge loan and don't have anything to back it up. As my father health not totally good. I can't help him for 2 yrs I think financially. 2. Need to learn like someone preparing for upsc because I thought this is only thing that differentiate me from other who are knowing pursing and doing part time parllely.
Stay in India
Pro : 1.Atleast I can financially help my family though my sister supports now but my parents want to get her married but there is so many complications here too. 2. I don't have that huge loan burden
Cons : 1. I need to get into 24 Lakhs package. at least to stand in front of her mother to ask her to consider in a 6 months or so but market is so shit. 2. I won't get chance again to learn something and that college life
Dont know what to do literally even while I am pursuingy ms I don't have guarantee that her parent will wait until my graduation. Unable to take any decision feeling like lost and not able to do anythin except routine tasks. Wasting every night and day sleep. As I am from witch I don't have experience except on AWS and lost all my knowledge on proframming languages too and don't have much knowledge on DSA too.
Please be kind.

2024.05.15 06:29 Chemical-Secret8241 Needed to train myself before sleep train success

I’ve been lurking and reading up tips from here and figured it’s my turn to share what worked for me to hopefully give insight to anyone that may need it!
Just want to prefix this by saying that my little one was a great sleeper until 4 month regression kicked in. We were using side bassinet by our bed so I could slide him closer when I know it’s time to feed. This worked great and he slept 16-18 hours/day except during the 3 week growth spurt (we tracked with huckleberry). Rarely had to carry to soothe (only if we were out and he gets overtired) We also had an established bedtime routine since about 2-3 weeks.
Now the four month regression kicked and we definitely knew because he was waking up every 2-3 hours. I put him to sleep while nursing, so he would look for me each time he wakes up because that’s how he fell asleep. Since nursing while side laying worked prior, I would offer breast and he’d fall asleep instantly to less than 5 minutes. I should’ve known he wasn’t waking due to hunger because he didn’t fully nurse, just a nibble to help him sleep. Because I was sleepy and wanting him to sleep right away I would repeat this multiple times a night. If nursing doesn’t work then my husband had to carry him to sleep. It lasted about a week until my husband and I decided we can’t keep doing this.
We decided to try sleep training, specifically Ferber, and we were so surprised! We detached his bassinet so he wouldn’t look for me for soothing and hopefully start encouraging him to self-soothe. We dropped him in the bassinet awake and drowsy having enough wake window prior to bedtime. He fell asleep no fuss within 12 minutes (I kept a diary of the first week of sleep training). We realize our little one had what it takes to fall asleep on his own but we, as the parents were so used to doing it a certain way that we were crutching him.
As the days go by he would fall asleep faster and faster 12-> 9-> 7-> 6.5 -> 6 -> 5-> 4 mins. He was waking up the first 4 days and we followed a check in routine of 3min-5 mins, 8 mins, 10 mins, 15 mins. We rarely got to 15 mins. By day 4 he was having longer stretches of sleep and we see him wake but he turns and falls right back to sleep. Other times he’s awake content talking to himself then next he’s asleep.
My little one is almost five months now, there are still times when he’s fussier and that’s okay. It doesn’t last longer than 15mins, usually if we had a late nap so he had more energy and not wanting to sleep yet. This link explains this for me pretty well https://www.preciouslittlesleep.com/power-down-to-sleep/ Now he sleeps 9-11hr stretches from 730~8pm , usually wake 530~6am for feed, then sleeps till ~9am. We didn’t notice any changes to his attitude during the day since sleep training, still our happy active baby.
So glad we decided to try sleep training, getting better sleep helped me be more active and purposeful during his wake time. I believe learning to sleep independently is beneficial in the long term. I had to step back and train myself not to automatically offer breast to get my son to self soothe and now he sleeps better than ever. There’s no one size fits all, so tailor a sleep guide to your child’s need and what you can be consistent with!
Wishing you and your little one better sleep!

2024.05.15 06:24 thiev__v I aim to get back into working out and want to revise my old routing and would love help with it!

For all this, I want to mainly focus on strength training.
I have two primary goals: Building my legs, and building up my glutes. With building my legs in particular, I want to emphasize on hamstrings, calves, quads. As a side note for glutes, I do want to work up towards doing weighted squats and deadlifts To supplement, I want to throw in general exercise to give my lower body a break. This can, and has ranged from arms, to back, to abs and such. I want to modify my previous routine to weed out parts that are too much for me at this time or ill-thought from an exercise point-of-view.
My previous workout routine was this(not perfect because I stopped working out like a year ago):
Leg curls - 3 sets, 15-20 reps Leg extensions - 3 sets 15-20 reps Butterflies - 3 sets, 12ish reps Weighted dumbbell squats - 3 sets, 15 reps Arms rows 3 sets - 3 sets, 15 reps on both arms Tricep extensions - 3 sets, 12-15 reps Bicep curls - 3 sets, 12 reps Weighted hip thrusts - 3 sets, 20 reps
I later learned that those amounts of sets/reps are way too much for someone like me who is an exercise amateur. So, how much should I shrink that by, and how do I build up my intensity over time without plateauing or putting myself in the way of injury?
Another avenue I have questions about is diet. What are some good resources to become aware of healthy fats, and resources to find some healthy meals and all that kind of stuff? I know the basics of what makes a healthy meal but I’m still relatively new to it when it comes to shaping my diet to go in tandem with working out.
That’s about all I can think of at this point, but yeah, I just want to fix up the routine a bit and get back to it!

2024.05.15 06:03 Practical-Dream9426 Prepping for sleep training?

My LO is almost 3 months and I am considering sleep training her when she turns 4 months (or maybe 5 months if she doesn’t seem as ready), I’m a FTM and I want to be as gentle as possible and gradually prepare her since she is a very sensitive baby. I’m hoping to get some tips on how I can gradually transition her so when she’s ready to formally sleep train it won’t be traumatic for her.
Shes EBF and currently doing 2-3 hr stretches at night, she’s on a side sleeper connected to our bed so it’s easy for me to nurse her at night and then put her back. The biggest struggle right now is that she cannot fall asleep or stay asleep herself. For naps we usually rock her till she’s asleep, then set her in her crib (I try to transition her so she opens her eyes and fusses a little when she hits the bed and then shush pat her to get her to settle and sleep, but it doesn’t always work and ends up with her crying and I’d have to comfort and rock her for another 10-15 min and restart the process again). Even when she’s asleep, she will wake up after one sleep cycle and start crying. This is why I always have to be with her when she naps, even if I slip away after staying with her for 20+ min she can sense I am gone and will wake and cry. Because of how sensitive she is, I often nurse her to sleep in the side lying position and nap beside her since this guarantees the longest stretch of sleep for her during the day. Currently I prefer this method of comforting her and nursing her to sleep because I figured it helped her get used to sleeping in her bed and she is waking up in the same place that she was in when she fell asleep. But she still does cry when she wakes up because either I’m not there beside her anymore or because she wants to nurse for comfort
I realize that I may be creating a nurse to sleep association which would be hard to break when she gets older so I hope to get some tips. I hope to eventually teach her to fall asleep on her own. I follow wake windows and getting her down for naps isn’t hard but I just don’t know how to help her fall asleep without having to rock her or nurse her. If I put her in her bed at the sweet spot for a nap or at night, she will lay there for a few minutes but then get frustrated and more fussy and eventually start crying, I’ve never seen her eyes get more droopy when she’s put in her bed awake. she just starts squirming and becomes more alert.
Any advice on how I can gradually change her routine so she is set up in the best way for sleep training once she’s ready?

2024.05.15 05:54 EJC28 Patriots 2024 Draft Analysis Compilation

Hey! So, I’ve been posting these analysis compilations for each team in their respective subs, however, I am banned in the Patriots sub, so I figured I’d post this one (and only this one) here.
Round 1, Pick 3 - Drake Maye, QB, North Carolina:
NFL: Maye has prototypical dimensions and an exceptional arm. The comparisons made between Maye and Buffalo’s Josh Allen are real when it comes to his size, arm strength and leadership skills. Maye lacks the experience of other QBs in this draft, but if he can iron out some of his inconsistencies, he can be a superstar for the Patriots.
CBS Sports: B. He might need some time on the bench, but he has the talent to develop into a good starting quarterback in this league. He just needs to fine tune a few mechanical things. The Patriots had to get a quarterback.
ESPN: They didn't overthink it. In need of a potential franchise quarterback, and open to trading the pick if a big-time offer came their way, the Patriots landed a player who gives the organization the same type of hope that Drew Bledsoe did after being selected No. 1 overall in 1993. Now comes the important part of developing Maye with quality coaching, and ensuring he doesn't have too many voices in his ear.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Freaked out when a bird got into his house last summer and knocked over a lamp.
Round 2, Pick 37 - Ja’Lynn Polk, WR, Washington:
NFL: I wonder if the Patriots weren't hoping for Coleman to fall to them. Polk has some nice physical traits, possesses really nice body control to adjust to passes outside his frame and stepped up nicely when Jalen McMillan was hurt midseason last year. But I saw Polk's upside as lower, viewing him more as a third-round talent. He'll add size to New England's smaller WR room, though.
CBS Sports: B-. Complete wideout without stellar athletic traits who tracks it awesomely. Flashes of YAC wiggle and power. Fun, versatile piece to add to the offense that needs it. A tick early for him though.
ESPN: The Patriots had explored trading back into the bottom of the first round on Thursday night but couldn't strike a deal, according to sources. So they regrouped, traded down three spots in the second round (from 34 to 37) to improve 27 spots later in the draft (from 137 to 110), and then grabbed the player they probably would have picked at 34 in Polk. A Bill Belichick-type move from the new regime that will be judged, in part, by if they should have gone with WR Ladd McConkey (selected at 34) instead.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: He is currently binging all 14,000 episodes of Days of Our Lives.
Round 3, Pick 68 - Caedan Wallace, OT, Penn State:
NFL: Wallace is a thick-bodied right tackle who developed into an NFL prospect later in his six-year college career. With 40 college starts, he has experience, but it's almost all at that position, and Coleman was considered something of an underachiever earlier in his career. A reach for me.
CBS Sports: C-. Sizable framed OT with lumbering feet. Average-at-best athlete. Plays with good calmness and accuracy at second level and has quality power but overall athletic profile was severely threatened often in college. A concern for his NFL future. New England did need to add some OL depth. Worried about his upside.
ESPN: The Patriots' top need areas entering the draft were QB, WR and OT, and Wallace caps off the 1-2-3 approach in filling them. He was mostly a right tackle in college, but Wolf said the team believes Wallace has the athletic ability to move to the left side. First-year offensive line coach Scott Peters comes from the Browns and his presence ties to Wallace, who at the least will be counted upon to be a top backup as a rookie.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: I’m just saying, if you know, you know.
Round 4, Pick 103 - Layden Robinson, OG, Texas A&M:
NFL: It's funny, if you hadn't told me Eliot Wolf was running the Patriots' draft room, I might have just assumed it was business as usual in Foxboro, with Bill Belichick overseeing things. Robinson, like Day 2 picks Ja'Lynn Polk and Caedan Wallace, were semi-value reaches. Robinson is a hard-nosed guard-only who improves the depth up front, but was it a massive need?
CBS Sports: B+. Mashing guard who plays more athletically than his workout. Tremendous burst off the snap on a routine basis. Could add more strength at the next level. Serious length but hands are late often. Nastiness is there for the run and pass protection. Upside blocker.
ESPN: With starting left guard Cole Strange attempting to return from a late-season injury that could affect his availability early this year, the Patriots are loading up on the offensive line to give themselves as many options as possible. Robinson has been a pure right guard, where 2023 fourth-round pick Sidy Sow is the projected starter. The team also has 2023 fifth-rounder Atonio Mafi, so Robinson joins the young pipeline up front. One scouting report referred to him as an "absolute freight train in the running game," which seems to reflect the style of lineman the team is looking for under the new coaching staff.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: You don’t stop the rock It to the bang-bang boogie, say up jump the boogie.
Round 4, Pick 110 - Javon Baker, WR, UCF:
NFL: I figured the Patriots would double up at receiver, and there was some talk of Baker being a Day 2 pick. I didn't love all of his tape, but he clearly features big-play prowess. UCF didn't fully unleash his talent, but Baker also needs to hone the details of his craft before he can be in a featured role.
CBS Sports: A+. This is a future No. 1 wideout. While not a burner, he plays faster and has the complete skill set. Releases at the line are good, flexibility to get open at intermediate level, YAC prowess, and especially rebounding skills are high-end.
ESPN: Baker is a big play waiting to happen, as evidenced by his five catches of 50-plus yards last season. So after the Patriots selected Ja’Lynn Polk in the second round, they doubled down with Baker -- which reflects how director of scouting Eliot Wolf is decisively addressing one of the team's top deficiencies. Wolf grew up in the Packers' system, and they have had recent success taking a similar approach at WR and TE. If there is a knock on Baker, it's that he has 14 drops over the past two seasons.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: His favorite movie of all time is Scream.
Round 6, Pick 180 - Marcellas Dial, CB, South Carolina:
NFL: Dial has decent length and has gotten his hands on a lot of passes the past three years, and he has a chance to make it as a jack of all trades in the secondary, with experience at multiple spots.
CBS Sports: A-. This is tremendous value. Zone awareness for days. Didn’t see the football thrown in his direction much. Outstanding ball skills when it does arrive. Doesn’t miss many tackles either. Hard to find a clear flaw to his game.
ESPN: Christian Gonzalez (2023 first-round pick), veteran Jonathan Jones and third-year player Marcus Jones are at the top of the CB depth chart, followed by a group of younger players whom Dial (6-0, 190) will compete against for a roster spot. That group includes Alex Austin, Marco Wilson, Shaun Wade, Isaiah Bolden and Azizi Hearn. As is often the case at this point in the draft, contributions on special teams figure to be a notable factor if Dial ultimately breaks through. Dial said he visited the Patriots before the draft (among the three teams he traveled to see) and had a feeling he would land with them.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: If you send the right mod $10,000 they will sell you the sub.
Round 6, Pick 193 - Joe Milton III, QB, Tennessee:
NFL: Milton's bazooka arm figured to make him a late-round flier, but I didn't have him landing in New England after the Patriots took Drake Maye with the third overall pick. Some teams have toyed with the idea of turning Milton into a Logan Thomas-like TE conversion.
CBS Sports: C+. Will immediately have one of the strongest arms in the NFL. Grew a lot as a passer after transfer to Tennessee. Accuracy is very hit or miss and he’s an average athlete. Coverage-reading needs to improve. Big frame.
ESPN: After taking Drake Maye No. 3 overall, and then Milton, this marks just the second time in team history that two QBs were selected in the same draft (1983 with Tony Eason and Tom Ramsey). Milton's physical traits stand out -- he's 6-foot-5 and 246 pounds with a powerful arm -- and some believe he could transition to tight end in the NFL. When looking at Milton through the QB-specific lens, the Patriots obviously view Maye as their hopeful long-term option, with veteran Jacoby Brissett the current projected starter until Maye is ready. They would still be looking to carry a No. 3 option. Bailey Zappe (2022 fourth-round pick) and second-year player Nathan Rourke are also on the depth chart, and their spots on the roster could be in jeopardy if the Patriots view Milton as the ideal developmental option.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Totally cried when he read The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.
Round 7, Pick 231 - Jaheim Bell, TE, Florida State:
NFL: Bell was a versatile enough athlete that he played running back at South Carolina because of injuries, but his best chance to make it in the league is as a "move" tight end with his smaller frame.
CBS Sports: A+. H-back type with explosive YAC traits. Cutting skill and natural ability to absorb contact and keep the legs churning. Won’t be a natural separator but when schemed open he can be a fun asset in the New England offense.
ESPN: Coach Jerod Mayo said by this point of the draft, the Patriots were selecting the best player regardless of need. The 6-foot-2, 242-pound Bell played more than 40% of his snaps last season in the slot, so he's an H-back-type option more than an inline TE. The Patriots have veteran Hunter Henry atop their depth chart, with top backups Austin Hooper and Mitchell Wilcox on one-year contracts, so Bell gives them a developmental option with the future in mind. If he breaks through, he could be a safety valve for a young quarterback on safer, underneath routes. His 897 yards after the catch since 2021 rank second among FBS tight ends after Brock Bowers.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Consults the farmers almanac every day about the weather.

2024.05.15 05:01 yea_nah448 What's your daily exercise routine with your Husky?

My partner and I are thinking about getting a husky, and just wanted to get an idea of what life would be like with one before we made any decisions :)
We're both working part time and studying for the next 5-6 years but after then might be going to med school or will be working more often.
So want to make sure we have the time for them no matter the work/life situation
so yeah, what walks/exercise do you do with them? Do you also have a routine with training, other enrichment activites and grooming?

2024.05.15 04:58 Herp-de-Derp Need advice from anyone in a similar situation

I'll try to keep this brief, but I also want to make my situation clear as I ask for advice.
So I'm currently in training for a job in neuromonitoring. The job mostly involves siting in the OR and letting the surgeon know what the status of the patient is at specific points in the procedure. The main problem I have with it is that there's no set schedule. We don't receive our case assignments until the day before. Add to that the necessity of being in the OR 60+minutes before the procedure (usually 7:30am start times) to prepare our equipment, we might be in the hospital for 12+hours at a time with virtually no notice. I've been in training for less than a year, and 50+hour weeks haven't been uncommon.
And to add onto the stress, I'm supposed to be competing in a martial arts tournament in Croatia in September and need to drop as much weight as possible. This is such a big deal to everyone in my family that my dad bought his ticket 6 months ago. Plus, my brother decided to come out to watch me compete. Also, my dad has been making me do all these travel hacks to get enough miles for a business class flight and has been trying to get all my cousins to go out to see me there, too. So as you can see, there's a lot of excitement around this.
So for anyone whose work schedule is similar to mine, how do you manage to keep yourself to your fitness routine. Because for me, it's become almost impossible to get any kind of workout in during a weekday.
TL;DR: New job makes training for my tournament incredibly difficult. Need advice from anyone in a similar situation that has managed to do it.

2024.05.15 04:56 loonuh218 22F Struggling to lose weight... any advice?

Hi! I'm 22F and in 2022 I had a severe weight gain (long story short: left a toxic household, binged on foods I wasn't allowed access to, ate to cope with harsh feelings & therapy, finally stopped and started working out March 2023). I've been working with a personal trainer since July 2023, and I've lost 15lbs since, however I feel like I've been at a plateau since October 2023. I've been stable in my weight (5'2", 180lbs) and I workout 4/5x a week, 30mins cardio (at least) with strength/weight training. I'm eating waaayy cleaner since beginning my journey, lots of protein, some carbs, & some fruits&veg, however I'm just not seeing any movement on the scale and it's hard for me to see light at the end of the weight loss tunnel :( It's worth mentioning from Sept 2023-Jan2024 I went through a hard period and intensely limited all food intake (coping/sense of control in the chaos) however I'm back to a healthy routine of 2/3 meals a day, if not 3 nutritious meals then lots of healthy snacks. Feeling somewhat defeated, I'm so tired of being in the skin especially when I'm putting in work. I was thinking of any supplements to add for weight loss, or even a pill program (hers?) if it'd help? It's also worth noting I might have endo/pcos, currently struggling for my PCP to take my concerns seriously.
I'd appreciate any and all advice! Thanks for your time! :)

2024.05.15 04:53 TheDesiPlayboy Iron and Spices: Building Muscle Pt. 1

So there I am, The Desi Playboy, back in my scrawny college days, just a couple of lean dudes fresh off a bar-hopping spree, chilling at the bus stop. Out of nowhere, this hulk of a caucasoid frat bro comes up, gives me a slap on the back that damn near sends me flying into next Tuesday. "Owww!!" I couldn't help but yelp. Dude struts past us, throwing over his shoulder, "Time to hit the gym, boys!!" I brushed it off, ego slightly bruised. After all, I'm the guy who’s been repping out with 20 lb dumbbells in my apartment gym like I’m training for the Olympics. That’s got to count for something, right?
Growing up, our idea of exercise was running away from aunties at family gatherings or maybe the occasional cricket match that was more about snacks than sports. The gym? That was uncharted territory. Our parents, bless their hearts, equated physical fitness with being able to sprint for the bus without wheezing. The notion of lifting weights, tracking macros, and chugging protein shakes was as alien to them as ketchup on biryani.

Attraction: It’s More than Just Physical

Have you ever had a girl flirtatiously squeeze your biceps, reinforcing the stud that you are? How about playfully slapping your ass when you’re not looking? That moment, my man, is raw, primal attraction at its finest—a kind of magnetism most men sadly never get to feel. Are you getting that type of attention from the ladies? Going to the gym and lifting weights is the first step into becoming that fuckable specimen. Picture this: you're strutting around, radiating confidence, and women gravitate to you, captivated, before you even utter a word. Arguably, muscles on a man is the equivalent of nice tits and ass on a woman. It's like you've got this invisible force field of allure, and all it took was a little sweat, discipline, and iron at the gym.
Think about it. In a world where first impressions are made in the blink of an eye, your body speaks volumes before you've even had a chance to dazzle with your wit or charm. It's not superficial; it's literally science. Physical fitness signals health, vigor, and, let's be real, the ability to handle business, whether that's lifting heavy things during a move or just looking damn good in a fitted shirt. An unfortunate reality is that women often manipulate men to get their needs met. However, men can simply manipulate the environment themselves to get their needs met. You think your crush is opening those pickle jars by herself? A nice, jacked body signals to women that you are good at manipulating your immediate physical surroundings.
So, if you're lounging on the fence, wondering whether hitting the gym is worth it, let me spell it out for you: Hell yes, it is. Not for the fleeting attention or the shallow compliments, but for the undeniable boost in how you perceive yourself and, subsequently, how the world sees you including women. It's about becoming a magnet not just for looks, but for respect, confidence, and yes, a whole lot of that good old-fashioned primal attraction.
Get ready to be the guy who walks into a room and commands it, not because you demand it, but because you've earned it, one rep at a time. Let's ditch the excuses, embrace the grind, and transform not just our bodies, but our entire damn aura. The iron calls, gentlemen.

Built Different

Our Desi genes serve us a mixed platter when it comes to body types. Some of us are fat fucks, while others are fragile twigs no matter how many samosas we demolish. For those of you guys on the overweight side.. Do you have Ananth Ambani money? No? Then you literally can’t afford that body if you want pussy. And if you can afford that body it is gonna bite you in the ass when you have heart disease.
Those of you scrawny sticks? Stop looking down at the more muscular bros and start looking at the women they’re pulling. Don’t get me started on that weird gray area a lot of us brown dudes fall into. I’m talking about the skinny fat phenomenon—a term as oxymoronic as 'jumbo shrimp'. It’s that peculiar body type where you look slim clothed but are a marshmallow in disguise. It’s the bane of many a Desi dude, a sneaky reminder of all those laddoos and no leg days. Ready to get rid of the bitch tits?
Look around at the next family gathering. Notice how cousin Rohan is built like a tank, but you got that uncle bod? That’s your first clue that genetics play a bigger role in this game than you might’ve thought. Tailoring your workout to your body type isn’t just smart; it’s crucial if you want to see real, lasting results.
Custom Cuts: Here’s the deal—
Alright, which of these body types are you rocking? Lean Machine, Easy Gainer, or Natural Athlete? Time to design a workout routine that suits your unique build. Yes, The Desi Playboy is dishing out homework, but trust me, it’s for a mighty good cause: to make you irresistible to the ladies. Now before we actually start integrating that workout routine let’s not forget to revisit the food on our plate.

Desi Diet Doom

The Desi diet is a freakin’ carb fest—a glorious, tasty trap that’s basically a middle finger to your muscle gains and fat loss goals. You probably recognize the following: plates piled high with rice, naan, and rotis, with a side of “Are you even eating enough?” from every relative. Navigating this when you’re trying to get ripped or ditch the belly fat is like being on a diet in a candy store.
Every meal’s a carb carnival, and while you love it, your body’s begging like, “Bro, where’s the protein?” It's like trying to build a house with all bricks and no cement. And oh, the ghee and oil. Delicious? Hell yeah. Conducive to abs? Hell no. It’s like slathering your goals with butter—tasty but terribly counterproductive. Add to that the mountain of sweets at every family function—those jalebis and gulab jamuns are seductive, but they’re saboteurs hiding in plain sight, wrecking your waistline one sweet bite at a time. If you’re gunning for that sculpted look, it might be time to negotiate a peace treaty with your sweet tooth and get serious about sneaking more lean meats and greens onto your plate.
Now let’s be honest, are you cooking all these Indian meals yourself? Or have you become completely dependent on your mom’s cooking? Is the extent of your cooking skills limited to boiling water and maybe, on a good day, making a mean cup of chai? Let me guess you top off the chai with some of Amma’s sweet sweet titty milk too? Listen up, because here’s the deal breaker—women are attracted to guys who’ve got their life sorted, including what’s on their plate. And if you’re letting mom choose whether it’s dal or paneer for dinner tonight, don’t be surprised if she’s also the one choosing your bride.
This, my dudes, is precisely why I’m all about preaching the gospel of DIY in the kitchen. It’s more than just about mixing spices; it’s about mixing independence into your life recipe. Grabbing the reins of your culinary journey isn’t just about impressing dates; it’s about fueling your body right, especially if you’re looking to bulk up and carve out those gains.

Protein Power Moves

There’s a way to keep the flavors of home without turning into a samosa yourself. It’s about being smart with your choices, making swaps, and still being able to face your grandma without guilt.
Lean and Mean: Start mixing in more lean meats, tofu, and legumes. Think chicken tikka, dal tadka with less tadka, and grilled paneer. Your muscles will thank you. But why stop there? Venture beyond with dishes like Thai grilled chicken or Turkish lentil soup. These global cuisines offer high-protein dishes that still dance on the tongue.
Smart Swaps: Ditch the white rice for quinoa or brown rice. Swap some of those rotis for a big-ass bowl of salad. Sprinkle some Mediterranean zest with a Greek salad, or bring a burst of Japanese flavor with a side of edamame. It’s about keeping the essence of Desi cuisine but making it work for your gains.
Supplement Smartly: Yeah, protein shakes might look like drugs to your folks, but they’re your BFFs on this journey. Mix that stuff with some milk or water, and chug. Think of it as a cheat code for muscle building—quick, efficient, and straight to the point.
Explore and Expand: Don’t be shy to sprinkle some culinary curiosity into your diet. Try Korean BBQ for a protein-packed meal, or if you're feeling adventurous, a Peruvian ceviche can offer a refreshing twist packed with high-quality protein. These flavors not only enhance your palate but also fuel your fitness goals.
So, there you have it. Turning the Desi diet dilemma into a muscle-building manifesto doesn’t have to be a soap opera. Keep the flavors, ditch the excess carbs and fats, and for the love of all that is holy, make protein your main homie. Expand your culinary horizons to keep your meals exciting and your body guessing.

From Diet to Dates

Alright, my fellow Desi bros, let’s wrap this up. If you’re serious about leveling up your game with the ladies, it’s time to get real about your diet, fitness, and lifestyle. Tailor your workout to your body type—whether you're an ectomorph, endomorph, or mesomorph—and make the gym your second home. Ditch the carb-loaded Desi diet for protein-packed meals. Whether you’re eating lean meats or are a vegetarian, make smart swaps like quinoa for white rice and grilled paneer for fried snacks.
Start cooking for yourself to fuel those gains and show you’ve got your life together. These changes lay the foundation for attracting women by boosting your confidence and health. The journey starts now. Let’s make those gains and turn some heads. The iron awaits, gentlemen.
Stay tuned for Part 2, where we’ll dive into lifting and integrating your workout routine to get you on track.

2024.05.15 04:20 Global_Assignment_42 Just Curious

So I'm new to the gym. Well I was in the army for 4 years got out and have been a civilian for a couple years. Just recently started going back to the gym. I have been going roughly 2-3 months now and I quit smoking all together for the same time with no want to go back. I'm highly determined and highly disciplined. My thing is I am improving and moving weights and up weights fast. In this short time period I have been able to bulk up from 152 lbs. To 176 lbs.! My question is I go-to the gym every other day for 5-6 hours and train full body. Granted I do cardio and stretching before and after but majority of the time it's mostly weight training. I feel like I'm doing good but I feel like I could be doing better! I work every muscle group to failure or that floaty feeling where I can't rep anything more. I also do a reverse pyramid where I start with my max or pr weight do my sets and then lower it until burn out. I heard going until float is best for tearing and building. Is that the wrong way? I flat bench more then my body weight and I'm working on getting back up to the 225 I used to lift I lift 190 rn. What can I do to improve? I don't take roids and I'm not going to so refrain from those comments. I am on a regimen. I just heard that training this hard is bad for you and growth. But all I see is growth if I eat adicqietly should I be good or am I actually hurting my gains by doing this? Also before you say anything I don't talk in the gym and yes I have this much free time this is my hobby. If you have any questions or want to know my full routine so you can better help me be sure to ask or pm me! 🙏

2024.05.15 04:07 OkBoysenberry92 How does your baby go to sleep once ST?

A bit of a lighthearted one as I’m curious and I don’t have a lot of mum friends to ask 😂
How does your baby go to sleep once sleep trained?
Mine (now 12 months) has a blanket that she will throw around, smoosh into her face, and she kinda “slugs” around the cot sometimes to get that sensory tick 🤣 if she’s not tired enough she will stand and call out first so in her one nap transition that’s been…ever so helpful.. to figure out her new awake times. But if I time it right she will do her little routine after our little wind down routine then falls asleep! It constantly blows my mind tbh
