2024.06.09 19:51 cybrid_ Best Sort-of-Does-it-All Setup: Sonos Soundbar + Sub or Neumi BS5P + Sub?
I'm just getting into vinyl and am looking to set up an audio system that can work for my TV and for a record player + streaming music. I'm wondering if an inexpensive 2.0 or 2.1 speaker system is better for my needs than a premium(ish) soundbar + sub?
I am an entry-level audiophile for music—I'm fine with the sound system in my car or on cheap headphones, but whenever I get to listen to my favorite artists with good sound it brings me so much joy. I don't want to bite off more than I can chew technically or financially, but I'd like the upgrade to be meaningful enough that I can really notice the difference.
For TV/movies I don't care about sound hardly at all. I've been listening straight out of my TV speakers for years and only get annoyed about quiet dialogue. But if I'm getting speakers anyway, I'd want to use them for the TV too.
I have a small discount for Sonos and was considering a Beam soundbar + Mini sub, but that's still like $600 for both. I suspect that Bluetooth speakers and soundbars are not ideal for records or music and that I'd be paying a premium for the ease of setup/slick design instead of sound quality.
I wonder if I'd get more bang for my buck with something much cheaper, like the Neumi BS5P-ARC speakers and maybe a subwoofer (though it seems like the general consensus on this sub is that those speakers are fine on their own). A <$300 2.1 speaker system seems easier to upgrade and potentially better for what I'm looking for.
This would be my first time setting up any sort of sound system, so I'm trying to keep things simple. What do you all think? Is something even as cheap as the Neumi BS5Ps better for music than a soundbar over twice the cost?

2024.06.09 19:45 leon0677 F2P Weekend Review (XBOX S)
So I'm not a professional game critic, but I am a person with thoughts after spending the weekend taking advantage of the opportunity to play TopSpin for free on the XBOX Series S, and Reddit seems like a pretty appropriate place to verbalise them.
Note: I haven't interacted with the online game modes, so all of my thoughts and opinions are based around my experience with the offline career mode. Full 3-set matches.
Gameplay
Truthfully, I'm hooked. The controls were never going to be too complex given the nature of the game, but the pick-up-and-play factor is off the charts for me right now. As I stated before, I'm currently playing through a career mode based around full-length matches and I've found myself enjoyably playing through matches that are at least 30-40 minutes long. The timing system is one that's easily learnt and mastered, but equally as easy to get wrong should you lose focus. Truthfully, that feels like the core mechanics of actual tennis to me. It's made for equally enjoyable and frustrating rallies and experiences, and they generally fall on the favourable side.
The serving mechanic is a little more complex, it's hard for my tiny little brain to negotiate using both thumbsticks simultaneously in an effective way, but serving at full power into my opponents forehand seems to work pretty effectively without ever really having a chance of an ace, which I'm fine with at this early stage.
I have occasionally noticed a few things that seem to be more glitches within the gameplay as opposed to user error such as second serves being much more effective against me than I'd like, and my player occasionally leaving a ball that I definitely deem to be reachable, but those moments happen so few and far between that they're more something that I would hope to be cleaned up in future patches than I would think of as gamebreaking glitches.
Overall, I'm a big fan of the gameplay TopSpin has to offer, and I do think it's far better than anything we've gotten in a tennis game for a long, long time.
Graphics
This is a bit of a weird one. Some of the players in the game are perfect lifelike representations of themselves, and then you have Alcaraz who looks like he had his character model designed by the latest intern 2K decided to take on. It really makes no sense to me that there's such a disparity.
Also, some of the characters (both licenced and unlicenced) look a little too cartoony for my liking. Some of them have really exaggerated features, and some others look like they belong in the best-looking video game you've ever seen.
Outside of the players, everything else looks gorgeous. The courts, the tournament-specific graphics - all of it. Overall it makes for a mixed bag, but if I told you TopSpin looked like a bad game, I'd probably be lying.
Career Mode
So this is my space to talk about the content within Career Mode itself, because coming from a guy who's been playing sports games since before online competitive gaming was really a common thing, single player modes are my favourite way to spend most of my time.
Truthfully, I've again been impressed with the content in TopSpin's CM. The schedule feels fleshed out with a mix of licenced and unlicenced tournaments every month, there's seasonal rankings that show the best players on each individual surface throughout a season, and the minigames/challenges method of gaining XP & VC is a nice touch that just has you spending even more time playing the game.
Speaking of XP, player progression is something that I've found to be extremely positive. Having started on Hard difficulty, I'm already almost a LVL 6 player having just completed my fourth tournament, which was also my first tournament won. There's a boost available for purchase if you want to get to LVL 10 instantly, but I thought I'd see how the grind was and I've been pleasantly surprised. You can earn points to purchase XP boosts without spending real money, and even on Hard difficulty I've found that I can at least be competitive if not always 100% successful against the AI at the lower end of the rankings. I know my opinion might change once I find out how difficult it is against the very top players or how much is required to gain levels the more I progress, but as for right now I'm happy with the speed of the grind.
I like that they included Coaches to the mode as a nice little realism touch, and they do give some nice boosts - but I do wish the experience was a little more fleshed out. I wish there was a cutscene or two of my player with their coach during training, and even during matches, maybe some sort of communication between us that felt semi-realistic. It all just feels very meh, and that's a bit of a shame. Still though, it's not entirely awful either.
From a purely aesthetic POV, it's nice that you can customise almost everything about the way your players look is put together, from racquet to kitbag, and there's a plethora of options available in every area. That was always going to be the case, but with 2K being such a global brand that have the finances to secure the necessary major licences, the options are there and they're appreciated.
Overall, if you like tennis then I think you'll enjoy TopSpin's Career Mode offering. I can eventually see the limited selection of real-world players and cycle of tournaments becoming repetitive once you become an established player at the top for a number of seasons, but that seems so far away at the moment that I only really have minor negative comments to make about my experience to date.
Microtransactions
It's a 2K game, of course there's a section about mictrotransactions. But the truth is, I don't think they're too bad in this particular game. Of course the option is there to spend money on XP boosts if you're not willing to level up with hard work, and you can have every cosmetic item in the game if your heart really desired it - but they all feel like nice optional extras.
I did pay the £8.99 for this Premium version of the Pro Pass, but beyond that I haven't felt compelled to spend anything else. There's a plethora of items available in the pass, you get in-game currency to spend on cosmetics just by playing the game and there's even a few unlockables within career mode itself completely for free.
Now, whether or not a fair and balanced system between money spent and being free-to-play means that 2K continue to invest time and effort into something that doesn't make them as much money as something else remains to be seen, but as the player base I feel like we don't really have much to complain about.
Roster
This was probably my biggest concern going into the game, and honestly it is disappointing. I completely understand the cost of licencing and image rights is a huge factor in why there isn't a roster of hundreds, but it's still underwhelming to enter the player selection screen and see so few options. I feel like even if they'd licenced ten or so lower-ranked players from each of the tours, it would have made such a huge difference in both single-player and career mode.
I believe I have seen rumours of players being added into the future and it is exciting to think that could be the case, but as it stands right now I wish they'd done slightly better off the jump. Moreso, I don't think I've seen any of the legends in the game included in the career mode a bit like Fight Night used to do with their game way back when, and even that would've been a nice touch to keep things feeling fresher than I fear they're going to.
Game Modes
Another slight negative in my opinion. Discounting the training centre, you pretty much have 3 options: Career Mode, Online & Single Player. I personally can't see me playing single player outside of career mode unless it's with a friend, and even then it's a bit of a long game to jump in and play for a bit of fun.
My biggest wish for a game like this would be some kind of Ultimate Team mode, which I think could easily be implemented given the amount of team-based tournaments that exist within the world of tennis. I think that would be the absolute best way of making the game enjoyable long-term, and also probably the best way for 2K to make money from their product. Imagine adding a card with Swiatek's signature or a dynamic of McEnroe's famous outburst to your collection, the possibilities are plentiful. Seems like a missed opportunity.
Failing that, I would enjoy some kind of offline minigames that you could play instead of full-length matches against a friend. Just a quick, fun, pick-up-and-play option.
The options are there for those who enjoy online play or trying to become the best in the world in a single-player career, but they can and probably should have gone much harder with the variety of options they made available.
UI
A mix of aesthetics and importance in terms of being easy to navigate, I had to give a mention to 2K for how the in-game menu is designed. There are a lot of different game areas, and the tiles are all laid out in a way that looks fantastic while also making the menus very easy to move around.
Also, the soundtrack is great. It's made up entirely of up-tempo, high energy music that fits the tennis theme incredibly well. Whoever was in charge of this stuff did an absolutely incredible job.
Summary
Overall, I've been pleasantly surprised by my TopSpin experience this weekend. I know you shouldn't ever take anything you read on here as Gospel, but having seen such negativity surrounding the game I really didn't go into the game with any expectations.
Having played for a few days, I highly recommend it to anybody who likes tennis and wants a video game to pick up and play for a little bit whenever they feel the urge. I'm looking forward to playing online a little at some point, and I'll probably be on the virtual tennis courts for at least the next couple of weeks having purchased the full copy.
Now after spending the last hour of my life writing up this review, I have an itch that only dominating the Occitania Open can scratch.
Yours, the 2024 Turtle City Cup champion.

Awful customer service. I will never order from them again. I originally purchased two outfits that were on clearance Days before they were supposed to get to me, they told me that one of them wasn’t available because they were out of stock. However, I already paid for it and it said in stock.
I was like OK mistakes happened. The guy sent me a link and told me to pick another outfit and that he would work on the price with me.
So I pick another outfit and tell me I need you to go ahead and pay the remaining balance since this cost more than your first outfit
And I was like OK what are you gonna discount it? You said you would work with me. He says I’m not gonna charge you a delivery fee after you’ve already charged me delivery fee on the first set of stuff that I bought and this is replacing one of the items that was the first red flag for me
The item doesn’t fit me the same size as the first one that sent that did fit me
I told them that I want to do a return of the item because it doesn’t fit and they say how does it not fit we sent you a medium please confirm that it’s a medium and I tell them that there’s no labels on the clothing to tell me what size it is
So tell me what we need some type of proof that it’s medium so I take the pants and I put one on top of the other and you can see there’s about an inch difference in the waistband
OK, we could do a return
To return it won’t let me because it’s the final sale item and I wasn’t notified when the guy sent the link for stuff for me to choose from that. It was a final sale item.
Then they tell me I have to pay $50 per piece to return the item Which means I’m paying $100 to ship it back to them in the outfit cost $99 but I’m paying you to take back what you messed up on because it’s clear based off the pictures that it’s smaller than the medium that I previously ordered
I’ve been waiting for somebody to just admit their mistake and they keep trying to get me to pay to return the item

2024.06.09 18:57 CaptainMarcia A look at Alchemy cards in terms of paper viability
This started out as a response to another comment, but ended up as enough for its own post.
https://scryfall.com/search?q=is%3Aalchemy+-is%3Arebalanced+-format%3Avintage&order=released&dir=asc&as=grid&unique=cards Looking at their respective approaches:
- [[Angel of Eternal Dawn]]: Tracking number of turns is technically doable but Wizards seems to consider anything more than [[Serra Avenger]] too much of a hassle. I don't expect that to change.
- [[Angel of Unity]]: Perpetual in paper is impossible. Counters can be tracked within public zones, and stickers leaned into this - I think there's some interesting possible design space in sticker-like counters that can let arbitrary cards function like [[Skullbriar]]. But tracking changes to cards in hidden zones is too far to be practical.
- [[Captain Eberhart]]: Caring about cards in hidden zones is impossible. A paper card would do this by revealing relevant cards.
- [[Expedition Supplier]]: MH3's tokens work a lot like conjure, but they're tokens, not cards. In Vintage-legal sets, a card must be represented by a card. The closest way I can think of to implement this is: "Put a card you own from outside the game onto the battlefield. As long as it's face-up in a zone other than a player's hand or library, that card is a copy of Utility Knife." This would work to roughly emulate cards like [[Boneyard Aberration]] where conjuring cards into a graveyard is necessary, while conjuring cards into your hand is already roughly emulated by effects that let you exile them and then cast them from exile. However, there's no way to emulate the library interactions of a card like [[Goblin Morale Sergeant]], and being functionally different means it wouldn't work for exact reprints of any conjure cards.
- [[Faithful Disciple]]: Spellbooks are conjure with even more complications. Wizards could, theoretically, create a mechanic with a reminder card listing out the cards constituting a spellbook and make a keyword for "select three of those cards at random, then choose one of the selected cards, exile a card you own from outside the game, and that card becomes a copy of the chosen card as long as it's in public zones and you can cast it from exile". This would most likely require "token" cards for every card in the spellbook, as well as the reminder card for the spellbook itself, so for a 15-card spellbook, it would require 16 token slots. Maybe doable in a high-complexity set where they're willing to have a single spellbook appear on a number of cards, but even then, it wouldn't work to reprint the actual spellbook cards that exist.
- [[Inquisitor Captain]]: Seek interacts with hidden zones in ways that aren't feasible in paper, while paper can get similar effects just by revealing cards from the top of the library until the desired kind of card is found.
- [[Geist of Regret]]: Same as Seek. Paper would do this just by revealing cards from the top of the library until hitting an instant and sorcery, put them into the graveyard, and put the rest on the bottom in a random order. Close enough for design purposes, not close enough for a reprint.
- [[Patient Zero]]: Like turn tracking, this is technically doable but just annoying. Paper would probably use some sort of counters.
- [[Bloodrage Alpha]]: Another effect that's doable but annoying to track. Paper would probably use a boon-like marker for it.
- [[Town-Razer Tyrant]]: This one is fine but paper would probably prefer to use counters, like with [[Obsidian Fireheart]].
- [[Lupine Harbingers]]: This might be a more feasible approach to turn counting since it only counts from when the card is used, but having the card be hidden complicates the matter of tracking it publicly. Paper would probably use a foretold variant where you declare it as a variant at the point you foretell it and then count the turns from there, but this would make it public information that it's not a regular foretold card.
- [[Begin Anew]]: This is another perpetual one, but it's one where perpetual-from-hand could easily be emulated: "Destroy all creatures, then exile all cards from your hand face down. As long as those cards remain exiled, you may play them, and if you cast a creature spell this way, the creature enters the battlefield with an additional +1/+1 counter on it." Another case of a card that's roughly equivalent for design purposes but different enough that it couldn't count as a reprint.
- [[Wickerwing Effigy]]: Like Town-Razer Tyrant, this is totally fine but would probably use a counter.
- [[Forsaken Crossroads]]: Tracking the starting player is probably fine.
- [[Inchblade Companion]]: This is completely fine. Was it supposed to say conjure?
- [[Mothrider Cavalry]]: Paper would just have you reveal your hand if you want the discount.
- [[Holographic Double]]: Another conjure card, but one with a particularly interesting possible paper counterpart: "U, Exile Holographic Double from your hand: Exile a card from your hand face down. For as long as that card remains exiled, you may play it if it's a creature card. When you do, note that card's name, and as long as Holographic Double remains exiled, you may play it as a copy of that card." With this, you don't even need a sideboard card to stand in... but it's still slightly functionally different.
- [[Bellowsbreath Ogre]]: It looks like this has been changed to no longer use the word "perpetually" in its rules text, but intensifying a specific card still has all the issues of perpetual changes.
- [[Herald of Vengeance]]: Works fine in paper. Tracking issues are possible but at least it's only looking one turn in the past.
- [[Imoen, Trickster Friend]]: A lot of specialize cards use mechanics that are already off-limits, but this is one of the few that doesn't. Still, you'd never fit all the needed text onto one card, even a DFC, and more importantly, IIRC it's a perpetual change which is off-limits anyway.
- [[Hag of Ceaseless Torment]]: The individual hags are all fine, although they don't seem to be Alchemy-legal on their own in the first place.
- [[Moradin's Disciples]]: Double team involves both conjure and perpetual.
- [[Water Weird]]: A paper version would have you look at the card.
- [[Stroke of Luck]]:
There is nothing digital exclusive about this. (Edit: Missed the lack of reveal.) - [[Arcane Archery]]: Boons would be fine in paper. They'd probably have printed tokens.
- [[Favored Enemy]]: This is ruled out for checking hidden information, but it's still a bit novel for its "most prevalent" check.
- [[Jon Irenicus, the Exile]]: Works fine. Counting libraries has precedent in paper, this would just mean needing to keep tracking them.
- [[Minthara of the Absolute]]: Using intensity on a group of cards rather than an individual card is fine, but paper would probably use counters.
- [[Tasha, Unholy Archmage]]: Fully within paper mechanics, even declining to use perpetual changes or seek because they'd make her weaker. But who would want to play against this nightmare of a card?
- [[Assemble the Team]]: Works fine in paper.
- [[Quicksilver Servitor]]: Another "paper would have you reveal it" one. Maybe something like: "As you put a card into your hand, you may reveal it. If you do, when you next cast a spell from your hand this turn with the same name as that card, proliferate."
- [[Dedicated Dollmaker]]: Fine in paper. Paper might use counters, but there have been exceptions.
- [[Draconic Debut]]: This is fine but looks like it wants a boon or something like it for tracking.
- [[First Little Pig]]: This is fine, its associated cards are not. Probably wouldn't be printed without them.
- [[Captivating Crossroads]]: Like other starting player cards, it should work fine, and has the benefit of only caring during the first three turns.
- [[Legion's Chant]]: Chorus cards intensifying as a group seems fine rules-wise but could get confusing. Paper could support equivalent cards but would probably use a different form of tracking. Most likely it would use player counters, but that would be a significant functional change.
- [[Merfolk Tunnel-Guide]]: Three-time boons are trickier than one-time ones but seem fine.
- [[Reflection Net]]: Another "activate only once" one that would be fine in paper.
- [[Ominous Lockbox]]: This is fine in paper.
- [[Concert Kaboomist]]: Another one where the paper rules can support it but keeping track could be annoying.
- [[Rampaging Ursaguana]]: Like with Lupine Harbingers, this would want a variant that keeps count.
- [[Sproutwatch Dryad]]: Another "paper would have you reveal it" one.
- [[Thought-String Analyst]]: This is fine in paper. Most likely, a paper version would tell you to note the card's mana value and lose that much life, so the opponent can confirm that you were telling the truth when the card is revealed, but this would not be a functional change.
- [[Stalwart Realmwarden]]: Another almost-a-boon that could probably be templated to be trackable without any functional changes.
- [[Thieving Aven]]: Heist has the same issues as seek. A paper equivalent would probably have you look at cards from the top of your opponent's library, with the option to reveal any lands among them, until you choose not to reveal three cards, then exile one of the cards, gain the option to cast the exiled card if it's a nonland, and return the other revealed and unrevealed cards. This would be a functional change, though, and the reminder text would be quite long.
- [[Intruder's Inquisition]]: Can't tell the greatest mana value among cards in the opponent's hand without making them reveal it.
Another version of the search with the problem keywords removed:

2024.06.09 18:43 Common_Squirrel5447 Small business manager looking for guidance
Hello! I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this, but it seems like my best bet.
I’m a manager of a small business (2 years employed, 1 year as manager) and I’m looking to ask for a raise, but I want to make sure I’m being reasonable. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
We’re an extremely small shop with only two employees including me. When I first started I was at $15/h and was quickly bumped up to $16.25 when my one coworker quit. 9 months later I was offered $17 and then another 6 months $18. I just hit my two years with them and one year as a manger and was given a $500 bonus. While I really appreciate it, I’m still struggling. In all honesty, I was expecting a raise to $19/h so when this wasn't offered I was disappointed. I did ask for an increase in my discount and PTO which I learned I've had the whole time I've worked for them.
I work 40+ hours a week out of the 48 hours we’re open. I keep things running smoothly day to day, set up new products, manage inventory and shipping, help run any events we host, shown I’m reliable, while also taking on new tasks and projects often. Our overall sales are up 43% this year and my sales alone are up 56%. I’ve taken no time off this summer in order to be around to run things while my boss takes a month off spread out between multiple vacations over two months.
In the past, we’ve discussed wanting to get me to a livable wage as the business grows which is $23.74 in my city. I don’t believe they can offer this to me now, but I’m hoping to ask for a $2/h raise to get me to $20/h. Does this sound reasonable? I love my job a lot, the shop, and my bosses, but I’m feeling extremely burnt out.

2024.06.09 18:43 starhunter_09 Salesforce Data Cloud Data Graph
| I am trying to understand Data Graph under data cloud. From what I have figured out till now , it is basically meant to speed up queries (involving multiple DMOs) through caching. I am trying to get an understanding on what could be possible use cases for this and one thing that i came across is the prompt grounding using data graph. I am however not able to link how I can get this data brought into the einstein prompt buildetemplates. Some of the videos I have seen show a input available in prompt builder to merge data graphs. https://preview.redd.it/vkv0l5i8ok5d1.png?width=909&format=png&auto=webp&s=de492f755c96b3f1358343b32af79e01fd79cbc5 I however do not see this option while trying to build a prompt template. Is this option supposed to be coming under a prompt builder template? Further, what does this statement mean with respect to data graph "A data graph must have one primary DMO, and it can have up to nine related objects. A related object can be a child of the primary DMO or up to three relationships removed, so a data graph can have four levels, including the primary DMO " Basically I was trying to create one and was only able to add upto 5 objects under the Primary DMO. Isn't it 6 levels? https://preview.redd.it/qbrm4ytvpk5d1.png?width=771&format=png&auto=webp&s=ed64e6d049fb0424bc0356dba14faaab9734fb83 submitted by starhunter_09 to salesforce [link] [comments] |

2024.06.09 17:38 Independent_Lemon319 Associate Discount
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I tried to use my employee discount for the first time at Petsmart a few days and it didn't accept my employee number and PIN so we manually input the 15% off. I've noticed that we have to do this for practically every employee and I thought, "Surely it can't be that difficult to get set up." I just got off the phone with a CS rep and she confused me even farther. I told her exactly what the paper said. "I need to connect* my associate discount with my Treats account." She told me I have to create a whole second account specifically for my employee discount and then it voids once I leave the company. So, two accounts and the non work is just sitting there? What? (Edit: connect instead of merge)

The sequel to 2017's Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West is set in a post-apocalyptic version of the Western United States recovering from the aftermath of an extinction event caused by a rogue robot swarm. The player can explore the open world and complete quests using ranged and melee weapons against hostile machine creatures.
Basically the game takes place in the far future where humanity almost gets destroyed by their advanced robotic creations. But it seems humanity have sort of gone backwards with their primitive clothing, implying that they haven't got the previous knowledge of their ancestors. The first game Horizon Zero Dawn, the protagonist Aloy discovers secrets about what happened to humanity, and its sequel is the continuation of this first game where she explores the far west of modern day america.
WHY I'M INTERESTED
The reason why this game appeals to me is the setting. I find it soo interesting how humanity was able to be on the brink of extinction and somehow managed to survive (I can't anymore due to spoilers). And after surviving, civilisation sort of went backwards instead of continuing on from the ancestors. I watch a lot of lore videos on youtube about this game, and there are many different stories hidden in the game world which tells us different perspectives of people on the situation. Even though its humanity that is in trouble, everybody has a different view on how to tackle the problem. But this is only touching the surface, there is also the robot machines created in these giant cauldrons that is a big mystery to this day.
I appreciate you taking the time to read my post and will give my thanks if I receive the gift card from you. Here is my PSN ID:

1. The Fiddling
A pox on people who complain that it's too tempting to fiddle with your Obsidian setup and therefore their ability to make more widgets for the man is negatively impacted. I love Obsidian because I can never stop optimizing it. If I wanted something that was set it and forget it, I'd used TextEdit and miss out on so much joy.
2. The Plugins
I do not understand the weirdos who take perverse pride in ignoring the 1600+ ways to make Obsidian better. OK, I do get it if you don't want to affect the plain text functionality of your notes, but refusing to use plugins that do nothing but extend Obsidian's functionality is just masochism.
I love the obscure ones the best 3. The Daily Note
My Daily Note gives me a comprehensive record of a snapshot in time, complete with weather, appointments, a running narrative, a gratitude list, tasks completed and more. It's fun to complie each day and it provides a great reference for
what's been going on in my life. 4. Writing in Markdown
I do almost all of my writing in Obsidian. All of my blog posts start there. Although I have the editing toolbar installed, I rarely need it any more as Markdown is pretty easy to learn and use. I love the added functionality that plugins like
Paste URL Into Selection add to the writing experience.
5. Obsidian Sync
I use Obsidian on two Macs, a PC, an iPhone and an iPad. Using Obsidian sync allows me to have customized plugins on every instance, to omit unneeded folders on mobile, to support Obsidian development by being a paying customer. Since I have a .edu email address, I get a 40% discount.
6. Interoperability
I love how the plain text/Markdown features in Obsidian along with it's local file storage allow me
to leverage other apps in my portfolio to extend the functionality of Obsidian. Whether it's using Drafts or
Bebop for quick capture, or doing a search and replace across my entire vault with BBEdit, there are a big selection of companion apps to make Obsidian more powerful.
7. It's Better than Evernote
I was an Evernote user from 2009-2023 and loved the automations it offered natively and via IFTTT. I've figured out how to
send emails to my vault, and
import my Raindrio.io bookmarks and every other thing I used to do with Evernote, plus I get all the other Obsidian deliciousness.
8. Tags, Folders and Bookmarks
I started my vault with imports from Evernote and all of my tags carried over. Since then I've maintained the tagging habit and it
provides a lot of usefulness when combined with Dataview. I also use folders for organization and bookmarks for work in progress notes.
9. The Obsidian Community
Whether it's Reddit, Discord, the official Obsidian forum or all the various YouTubers and bloggers, there are
a ton of resources available to get new ideas and solve problems . I know of no other program with such a depth of material available.
10. Backup Options
I spend a lot of time working on my Obsidian notes and would be devastated to lose any data. That's why I have a TimeMachine backup, a Google Drive backup, a GitHub backup, plus Obsidian sync.
It's all done with set it and forget it methods. submitted by
