After Amitabh Bachchan’s near fatal accident and before his ill-fated stint in politics and between the big blockbusters Coolie (1983) and Mard (1985) made by Manmohan Desai, his arch rival, there is also the Prakash Mehra hit Sharaabi, another Bachchan starrer. Indeed, even by Mehra’s own standards, set by the super blockbuster Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, blockbuster Namak Halaal, and super hits Zanjeer, Hera Pheri and Laawaris, Sharaabi seems lesser but it was made with remarkable difficulties and remains his last success as a filmmaker. This post is an ode to the product and the pain in its production.
The Poster
THE STORY
The origins story of Sharaabi has three versions and the truth lies somewhere in between. The first and best known one is that the film is a version of the English film Arthur. The second account comes straight from the horse’s mouth and suggests the idea was born in, if not out of, thin air.
“We were on the World Tour of 1983, the very first of its kind for the Industry and having performed in almost 10 cities in US and London, flying to Trinidad & Tobago from NYC, when Prakash Mehra also travelling with me, suggests we should do a film based on a father son relationship where the son is an alcoholic.”

Lastly, the story goes that while shooting in the outdoors for Laawaris, Mehra made friends with the hotel owner who fascinated him as a functioning alcoholic who ran a successful business as well.
Mehra’s arch-rival Desai alluded that the friendship was likely based on kinship.
“Only a Sharaabi can make a film called Sharaabi,” Desai said in the press back then. Mehra’s reply can’t be reprinted. But his films always had autobiographical elements. The music director Anand ji said that like his films’ orphaned or neglected heroes, Mehra too faced abandonment issues because when he was young, his father had become a sadhu.

Still recovering from the grievous injury on the sets of Coolie in the July of ’82, which forced Bachchan first to wear special belts around his stomach to basically prevent his guts from spilling out and then long shirts and coats to hide the scars, an accident involving a spurious Anaar on Diwali day of 1983 meant that Bachchan lost most of his skin, webbing and use of fingers on his left hand (and Bachchan is left-handed). But he worked through immense pain and improvised by hiding his injured hand in pockets, creating the iconic look from the film, though in one song, the blood and bandage is woven into the narrative.

THE HEROINE
This was the time when there was a heroine crisis in Amitabh Bachchan’s screen life. Hema Malini had started a family and cut down on work. Parveen Babi was unwell. Jaya Bachchan had retired. Reportedly, Raj Babbar made it difficult for Smita Patil to be available for Bachchan’s projects. There were doubts over Shabana Azmi’s commercial potential. And Mehra had had date problems with Rakhee in the past. While Zeenat Aman had worked with the duo in Laawaris, Sharaabi’s role of a Hindustani dancer was different. In stepped Jaya Prada.
THE SCRIPT
Bachchan’s idea and insistence to speak the lines in a drawl-like fashion of a drunkard and Mehra’s concern about pacing brought about the brilliant joint decision to keep the lines sharp and short so that Bachchan could draw them out. The fact that his character Vicky in the film was also a budding poet seeking vazan in his spoken creations that he would only find later, like an older-day Janardan Jordan (of Rockstar fame), meant that there also had to a graph along with the meter. Kader Khan memorably put pen to paper.
THE SONGS
Kishore Kumar was Bachchan’s voice in Mehra’s films. But when Sharaabi went on floors, a cold war was brewing. Some time ago, Kishore had expected Bachchan to agree to a cameo in a film called Mamta Ki Chhaon Mein but influenced by Desai, who had a long-running feud with Kishore over monetary issues and artistic differences despite their collaborative success, Bachchan declined. Kishore announced he wouldn’t sing for Bachchan again, leaving Sharaabi’s pre-production in crisis.
It was Bappi Lahiri, Kishore’s nephew and Mehra’s Namak Halaal music director, who brought the icons together for Sharaabi. The truce wouldn’t last long though. Kishore got upset that Bachchan got playback credit before him for singing the rap section (“There was a cat…” ) in his “Jahaan Chaar Yaar” unlike their jugalbandi in “My Name in Anthony Gonsalves” in Desai’s Amar Akbar Anthony where Bachchan had dubbed the English-speaking portions.
Kishore’s work in Sharaabi was historic enough to earn him all the nominations at that year’s Filmfare Awards for Best Playback Singer (Male), a record number. Kishore would win for “Manzilein Apni Jagah Hain”. Unlike Namak Halaal’s Pag Ghunghroo, he even performed the classical alaap himself before the Log Kehte Hain Main Sharaabi Hoon section of the Salaame-E-Ishq Meri Jaan-like song “Mujhe Naulakha Mangwa De Re”. RJ Rahoul has a great take on the making of Intehaa Ho Gayi in which it’s impossible to detect when Bachchan’s dialogues end and Kishore’s singing starts. Despite their differences off screen, they were that close on it.

TLDR: Ich glaube unsere Tochter ist der KiGa "zu lästig" und Sie wollen uns los werden, was kann ich tun?
Long Story: Hi zusammen,
Vor 4 Monaten ist unsere Tochter mit 3 Jahren in die KiTa gekommen. Es war nur ein Nachmittagsplatz frei und wir haben hier 2 Erzieher auf zwischen 5 bis 15 Kinder, meist sind es so rund 10.
Die Eingewöhnung ging echt gut und schnell, aber es zeigten sich defizite bei unserer kleinen: Da Sie nicht nur die jüngste in der Gruppe (Alter bis 6) war sondern auch sprachlich hinter (dafür motorisch sehr weit) war, hatte Sie starke Kommunikationsprobleme mit den anderen Kinden und wirkte oft überfordert durch a) neue Regeln (zb Stillsitzen beim Stuhlkreis), b) die Menge an Kindern (1-2 sind super, aber 5 wirds kritisch) und c) den Umgang mit anderen die sprachlich weiter sind. Sie neigte hier zu Wut und Aggresion gegen anderen Kinden, was meist in schubsen oder leichtem Hauen endete.
Wir haben sofort (im 1. Monat) gesagt bekommen, man bräuchte ein Gutachten, weil man den Verdacht habe, dass Sie in ein I-Kindergarten solle. Gesagt getan, niemand hat sich dagegen gewehrt. Das Gutachten kam und war so Mittelprächtig: Defizite wurden aufgezeigt und es wurde gesagt Logopädie und Ergotherapie zu machen und ggf. einen I-Kindergarten.
Wir haben sofort alles eingeleitet:

Sie hat einen großen Sprung gemacht, Spricht deutlich besser, kommt mit der Situation sehr gut klar mit mehreren Kindern und schafft es deutlich auszudrücken (NEIN) statt zu hauen. Sie hatte ca. 8 Mal Ergotherapie und hat auch hier laut der Therapeutin deutliche Fortschritte in Sachen Konzentration und Aufgabenstellungen erfüllen / Regeln gemacht.
Leider bekommen wir mit der KiGa weiterhin keinen grünen Zweig hin. Ständig kommen Sätze wie "NAME sei ja NAME" oder Sie habe "typische Sachen" gemacht beim abholen, aber kaum genaue Schilderungen.
Die Bitte, dass die Ergotherapeutin zur Beobachtung der Lage 1-2 Mal mit in die KiGa kommen dürfe, da Sie zuhause deutliche Verbesserungen mache aber dort (angeblich) nicht, würde mit der Begründung "Sie ist kein I-Kind daher darf da keiner kommen" von der Leitung abgelehnt.
Nun hat man uns den Wunsch mitgeteilt zeitnah ein zweites Gutachten zu machen. Das fanden wir super komisch und haben nachgefragt warum. Die Gründe wirken total scheinheilig, man wolle "eine zweite Meinung" und angeblich wäre das ein Zufall gewesen, weil Gutachterin 2 für ein anderes Kind da war und man doch gesagt hätte "och die kann ja auch nochmal auf NAME gucken" ~ Wir müssen den Antrag aber schnell ausfüllen, weil die Dame ja soooo voll ist und nur eine Ausnahme macht. Ich versteh es nicht, wenn die Dame so viel zu tun hat, und ja nur für eine zweitmeinung da ist, waurm Sie dann belästigen? Ist ja kein Notfall oder so...
Es wirkt deutlich so, als gefalle das erste Gutachten nicht und das zweite wäre nun ein Gefälligkeitsgutachten gegen unser Kind - den was soll anderes dabei rauskommen? Wir sehen die Fortschritte, die Therapeutin sieht die Fortschritte aber nach 3 Monaten sind der KiGa die Fortschritte nicht genug, oder was?
Bin ein wenig verzweifelt und bitte um Rat.

So I created a mega mod pack (around 325 mods) and the world in single player opens and runs just fine. But when I try to invite anyone they are instantly kicked out and met with the error message:
Java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: unable to fit 2557455 into 3
It was not a crash (I think) so I was not able to get the entire crash report from them, but nevertheless, they are not able to join.
I tried looking up the issue online to see what the issue was and it was apparently something to do with too much data being in one chunk/scoreboard, but I am not sure how to fix it because the world was brand new. Before this I made 3 other worlds that I deleted after one another and for some reason the map data from Xaero's maps remained (I don't know if this information is relevant to the issue but I'll just put it here just in case :))
Below is the mod list, and I was wondering which mods could be the potential issue here.

2024.05.17 03:10 AwekwardBadass Bear with me - stupid campaign idea Incoming!

I have fallen madly in love with PF2e since I discovered it, and as a recovering forever DM for D&D 5e I don't feel right if I'm not running a campaign. That said, I've had an idea for years now about running a campaign that's based in the world of a standard martial arts Shounen anime in a modern Japanese high school (because I'm a weeb like that). That said, mechanically speaking, the idea never seemed to work well in the 5e system without massive amounts of homebrew and re-flavoring. While I have no problem with re-flavoring (I greatly encourage it), coming up with mechanics to fit the world was tiresome so the idea never got off the ground. I even considered trying to learn several other systems to run the game in, but none of them were very comprehensive (at least for me, damn you BESM). That said, I feel like my prayers were answered when I started learning PF2e. At first, it looks like a standard fantasy TTRPG, but because of its more modular nature and its optional/variant rules, I've found it fits surprisingly well for my idea! That said, I wanted to do some vetting before I made any major moves to write anything.
My vision is to make a PF2e world set in "modern" fantasy Japan. The world is supposed to be based on shounen-style martial arts anime like Kenichi the Mightiest Disciple, Ranma 1/2, Tenjou Tenge, Kengan Asura, and Baki the Grappler just with more heavy focus on outlandish ki-based fantasy martial arts. The players would be playing as 1st-year high school students in a special high school that is specifically for adolescents who've awakened ki (I'm using ki as a blanket replacement to refer to magic in this game). Their goal is to steadily train to grow stronger, fight their way up the social ladder of their school, survive battles with other rival schools and dangerous gangs, and resolve the conflicts and story hooks they give me to work with from their backstories. I've made the following tweaks to the game:
I like the concept but is there anything I'm potentially missing that might make this game incredibly frustrating/not fun for my players? If so how could I fix that before it becomes an issue?
Side Note: I imagine there might be a time when players would have to fight in 1v1s either for story reasons to beat their rivals or in something like a tournament arc. How could I make something like that fun and engaging for the whole party? Specifically, so that it's not just one person playing and the other three standing on the sidelines.

(Pic 1-2) Both going down after their signal song, the reason may be different but in the end of the day..they went bc they lacked something in them ++ both got evil edited at the start
(Pic 3-4) Both of them failed to win in the first match they played after they went ground(so unable to go iland right back up)..making them stay ground 1-2 ep longer (Ik for ni-ki it was G vs I and jiyoon one is diff but ep wise that’s what is going)
(Pic 5-6) Next round both got criticised (diff reason) but both judges told them two to cheer up or smile! Which gave them confidence!
(Pic 7-8) Them right after they got feedback from judges and after judges told them to cheer up, literally writing in their diary to “work hard and focus” Then Ni-ki went iland and so did Jiyoon!

Firstly, mallikajan becoming suddenly patriotic is absurd. It was almost like she had nothing in her hands and she's trying to fill the void of the fall of heeramandi. Like see, it has to be gradual atleast.
My alternate version
MALLIKAJAAN
In the scene where bibbojaan sneaks in the freedom fighters(yes, they very much were) mallikajan stares at her stoic before walking away. We find them in the next scene spoken to by phatto - satto all the things Mallika had originally said. One of the fighters embrace the other remembering the demise of the shaheed when a potli falls open from his pocket. We see jhumke and some rings which Mallika recognises and calls him out saying they are of waheeda almost accusing them of theft. Bibbo responds rather angrily " Ammi!!!" When waheeda interrupts and says she had given them the jewellery . Waheeda goes "takreeban 20 saalon me Pehli dafa jisam par se kuch utaarne par Mera rooh aitiraz nahi kiya." A little taken aback, Mallika walks away saying "Noor Haveli k chaar tijori aapke aur aapke biwi bacchon k liye khule hi."
I feel like it would still preserve her character a little and from here she could have been shown to have gone soft ( you know, with her requesting nawab's wife to talk to other nawab's for her). I know it was not pretence, but her being patriotic was a little off.
When mallikarjaan hears that bibbojaan is getting executed, she breaks down crying. Next scene is her in her room all cried out. Looks at bibbojaan's picture and mutters "meri beti...meri beti bibbo... bibbojaan.... Bibbojaan azaad." We see satto fatto and all the members gathered crying over the news mallikajaan enters , commands them not to cry as bibbo would be the first tawaif to sacrifice her life for her mother( India).
TAJDER
Tajder comes home injured and Alam questions him and he had to reveal that he was manhandled by the British while they were protesting ( he wore black muffler and wasn't recognised though). Alamzeb asks "Aap ye mulk se beintehaa mohabbat karte ho na?" And tajder chuckles and says " jaise aap apne shayari se" and alamzeb goes "shayari ko ham hamara fitoor maante hi par aap mitti ko apna farz. As she wipes his injuries she asks in a soft tone " nibhate hue kese lagta hi?". " Filhaal..... Jaise ek zakhmi maa ko unka beta marham na de paraha" says tajder teary eyed. So maybe here a montage of atrocities of British he has witnessed could be shown as he explains alamzeb why he he'd become anti British. By this the freedom factor is a little more emphasized rather than it being abrupt , also, it invokes patriotism in alamzeb.
ALAMZEB
Alamzeb literally gave it away saying that sher infront of general Cartwright, he very much speaks hindi 🤦‍♀️.
In the alternative version alam while being taken into the jail screams "inqilab zindabad" and tajder is shown to be secretly Proud. Tajder looks at her fondly while she shouts naare and her parwana sher gets played simultaneously.
And in another scene a little after Alam's realise mallikajaan says to alam: "Heeramandi ki shehzadi ho tum. Yaha ki mehek sirf eethar ki hi, na sihayi ki na hi lahoon ki ."
Alamzeb says to herself, "Hamara pyaar(tajder) ka manchaaha eethar tho ghili mitti hi ammi. Is zaameen ki mehek mehfooz rakhenge, apni lahoo se mitti nam karke hi sahi."
(Tajder says he loves ghili mitti just before it rains in the mango farm.)
FAREEDAN
Fareedan's change was rather abrupt. It's just not too convincing.
ALTERNATE VERSION 
 Cartwright tells fareedan how mallikjaan had her stoop so low infront of everyone in the police station. Fareedan laughs hard and asks him what has he done. Cartwright explains what happened and when he turns around fareedan looks rather quiet unable to figure out how to feel about it. When Cartwright asks her what happened she says the dialogue she originally does. Cartwright asks her to be happy for him and his boys as they wouldn't get an opportunity like this in England cause a true lady would never sleep with five me. He proceeds to say this only happened because she's an Indian wh*re. This strucks her, she quietly leaves his house placing his gift, that gown on the table. At night during the fountain scene fareedan overhears everything from her window and sheds a tear. Fareedan witnesses Cartwright killing tajder deliberately. She runs and tells that to alam who is still in shock and is repeatedly saying she needs to see dadi. Fareedan takes her to dadi and while is upstairs Cartwright visits Tajder's father who is confronting him. Fareedan walking down the staircase says how she witnessed his death and it was Cartwright who killed his son. Cartwright says that he doesn't know her and if at all she had ever been in a police station it would be because of crimes she committed and he names few off her records intimating that he knows about her past. Fareedan feeling deceived and disrespected she is not afraid of what is going to happen to her and that Tajder's father deserves to know the truth. She tells him how she witnessed him killing his son. Cartwright interrupts and says she is afterall a tawaif and he shouldn't listen to her words. Fareedan says that she's tawaif indeed but she had a mother who take care of her all night when she was sick. She can only imagine what Tajder's father is going through and that he deserves to know the truth. She says he isn't her father or a relative but you don't need a blood relation in this mulk. She calls him khalujaan and asks him to believe her. Tajder's father walks away from her and asks Cartwright to try finding out who the attackers were and walks away indicating that he believes Cartwright and not her. Cartwright mockingly says to her that true Indians only believe the ones who are working for their welfare, the british. Fardeen walks out hurt and disappointed.
These two incidents can makes fareedan's change more gradual.
CARTWRIGHT
I don't understand why Cartwright would want to sleep with Alam when his sister literally murdered his higher authority and is about to get killed by them. Moreover, he killed Alam's fiance. He has grave threat from Alam.
Alternate version:-
 CARTWRIGHT visits heeramandi's silent corridors and mocks mallikajaan.
He proceeds to say had she been on his side it would have saved her from many troubles. Alam interrupts and says that she's the next huzoor of heeramandi, the next tawaif. She'd do her first dance, her first nath uthrai for him in return of him not causing the members of heeramandi any further troubles. Cartwright interrupts her and says he wants her nath uthrai not in their fort but in his bedroom. Mallika interrupts reminding how the ritual goes. Alam stares at Cartwright before agreeing. In the later scene she performs infront of him and in the end gets on the top of him stabs him to death in sync with the beat of the music and leaves his house.
THE CLIMAX
 Mallikajaan marches towards the police station with everyone to support bibbojaan. Iqbal riding cart nexts to her stops her suddenly with a talvar reluctantly and says she doesn't deserve a last time with her daughter like he was never given one with saima. Satto fatto shocked asks what he's doing. He cries and wipes his tears and backs away. Mallikajaan looks at fareedan who looks concerned for her. She walks right into the talvar to everyone's horror. Satto fatto and everyone tries to come near her but she asks them to go. Fareedan asks Mallika to come with them and says that bibbojaan will need her mother, she needs to treat herself and that ammi ki zarurat hothi hi. Mallika says her daughter will live kuch pal too without her like she( fareedan) did all these years. She insists on them leaving and being there for bibbojaan. They all March towards the execution place. Bibbojaan is given a last chance to reveal the other members of her group. She is hit with whiplash when she starts singing with all the women from heeramandi behind the walls chorusing with her. Simultaneously mallikajaan is shown dancing while bleeding in a silent , windy and deserted street singing to herself. She pats her feet covered in mud on the ground like she's dancing in her fort, does gajgamini walk manically laughing. Bibbojaan doesn't reveal the names so the officer intimates to kill her. On the other hand mallikajaan is dancing while bleeding with dirt and blood on her face. Tired She falls on her knees. She hears footsteps approaching her running. She sees zoravar (her son) with his hand streched out running towards her calling her ammi. Bullets are shot at bibbojaan simultaneously. Mallikajaan picks up the sword next to her and tears open her blouse from the back and falls on the ground. Zorawar stops and turns away his head. Mallika is seen smiling slowly closing her eyes (preserving her nature of vengeance). Bibbojaan is shown to lay on ground slowly finishing the last word of the song. Her eyes wide open, she loses her life. The narration says bibbojaan has inspired all the beti's of heeramandi to take part in freeing their country. They March and roit religiously from then on to get freedom to this country as no one understands the value of freedom better than the ones who's soul is not even theirs.

So lets start this story from 10th. I am someone who has always been smarter than my cousin brother. I got 94% in boards and he got 85%. Now lets cut to 12th.
I scored 84%ile in jee session 1 and he scored 70%ile. We both gave KIIT I scored 90%ile and he scored 70%ile. With some fucked up system we both got cse core. Not having anything else we booked the seats. Then came jee session 2. I scored 86%ile, he scored 80%ile. Thats when my mom started taunting me ki tumhare se piche wale bhi tumse aage nikal rhe hai.
This really did hurt. I scored decent ranks in SRM and VIT and got into VIT VELLORE in cat 2. its not like my mom was always like this. She was with me from past 5 months, staying awake when I studied late at night and all other things. She said ek baar VIT ya Thapar mein ho jaye phir relax ho jaenge. Now coming onto my brother, he couldn't do score well in both. Now that he has nothing except KIIT he started studying hard. VERY HAPPY FOR HIM. but recently got a result where he scored more than me, and now my mom has started taunting me more. She constantly bugs me for bits. It is something i know I am not gonna score well in.
The sad part is I see my peers who scored less than me, donot have any college enjoying with their parents. their parents celebrate every milestone, and my mom didn't even congratulate me when I got into VIT.
I see my uncle celebrating and acknowledging my brother's effort at every step whereas my does not even care anymore.
Now its upto the point where I do not even want to study anymore.
I gave comedk, and scored 75. I fucked up comedk really bad and i know he is gonna score more than me. I am just scared of my mother's reaction. I just want to run away from here.
Now the thing is I have started hating my brother. I really wanna get out of this race help

First I will give you my story and then tell you the issue.
Story- I took Non med, because i didnt know what to do. Joined Aakash & started preparing for IIT. At coaching, i could understand everything but when i went home i just didnt want to open the modeules, revise notes or do anything. I just couldn't study. I gave myself reasons- I am doing this for my parents, i am doing this to prove myself, etc but none worked. I just didnt want to study. I had very low marks in tests, teachers ne bhi motivate & scold kara but I JUST COULD'NT study. Pata nahi kaise ek saal hogaya. In currently in 12th. In april- March, mere ko feeling aane lagi ki Jee is not the problem, I dont like BTech. I am in the wrong heat.
i dont want to make the same mistake again, bina research kare decision lena like in 11th.
Issue- I am thinking to do CUET with PCM and do BCOM/ BBA in a DU? Is it the right choice? Scope hai iska kuch..Thoda bahut parents ko ye sab bataya...They thinks BTech is very helpful, life me madad karega etc...I didnt say much.
Yes, i dont like PCM, but it is the only way? Because it is alteast better than going in a college and doing something for 4 years that i dont like?!
Please guide me. There's a bit more to the story. I have shared the relevant bits.

A player left the game, and we have 3 players now, a Bat Rogue (Swashbuckler), a Fighter (Champion), and a custom class caster. Need a 4th player. If you are interested in this after reading it all send me a message.
When: Saturdays 5 PM CEST/GMT+2
Level: 6 (one level up so far)
Character creation: 27 point buy, all classes and specs, anthropomorphic races (PDF for that will provided), 2000 gold to spend as you see fit (though depending on how we decide you come in you may get the items later, note that there will be no place to buy this stuff, so don't hoard it). You can also choose a clan instead of a race. Clans are major political players and provide their own stats and features.
Story: The players were heading into the desert to discover relics of a proposed ancient civilization. Your character would come in around there. Currently there's only really two ways for you to come in. Either you're also an explorer who came here, but are now stuck due to the desert taking its toll, or you were with some pirates and were left in this ancient abandoned city, or maybe you escaped from them, but you know where their cove is. The setting is heavily inspired by ATLA and Kung Fu Panda, with some other stuff mixed in. Very fantasy Chinese (though only one PC actually has a Chinese name, go figure).
