2024.05.19 07:54 454ever how would you deal with overbearing parents as an adult child?
Long story short, I just got in a heated argument with my father over how he treats my 13 year old brother (more on that later). I am 21 years old and they still control a lot of my life. I am financially independent (technically, more on that later as well).
For some background. I was raised VERY religious. Those Christian moms you see on social media that was my father. I never went to prom (because godforbid I got out in the world). I went to a public high school but was still super sheltered. My life outside of school consisted of coming home and working on homework, the extra homework he assigned me, yelling because I never did "good enough," and church youth group (which I hated because I am not a Christian). I made good grades, mostly As, the occasional B, and one C (in chemistry, but I mean come on that shits hard). That was never good enough. Every single assignment I did he had to look at. Study guide for an exam. He had to look at it. Discussion board reply. You guessed it he looked at that too. I didn't get a phone until sophomore year of high school and when I did I got one of those shitty 80 dollar Samsung phones that you couldn't do shit on (and where he checked all my texts, notes, and emails). I was very sheltered. The extent of my fun was shooting the shit with my friends in the cafeteria at lunch and on the bus. I wasn't allowed to go to birthday parties or sleepovers or even go over to a friends house. He is raising my brother the same way, but way worse. If I am ever blessed with kids one day he has taught me what not to do.
Thankfully I am now in my third year of college. I picked a school he didn't want me to go to. Not because of money or anything he just said "you aren't going to a party school. There are too many idiots there you don't need to be around." I rebelled and committed to that school. Hands down the best decision I have ever made. I have a full ride scholarship that pays for my tuition (although it is dirt cheap for in-state already). I also have a scholarship that pays for rent for my 1100 dollar a month apartment and gives me about 500 spending money every month. I consider this my second best accomplisment as screwed up as that may sound. My father controls my money. All of it. I have a credit card that I use and then he pulls that money out of my account. I have no idea how much money I have and what he is doing with said money. He also has access to my Schwab and Vanguard accounts. He says he does this to help me with investing but I know there is more to it. He still wants to control me. I don't even know my damn login to the banking app for Christ sake (sorry not sorry dad for using the Lords name in vane). I know I should have fixed this issue sooner but I didn't want to fuck up our relationship. I am not sure what to do about this.
Another major problem came from this sheltered/overbearing environment I grew up in is my inability to say no to things I have never done before. Throughout my time in college I have experimented with drugs and alcohol (cocaine, weed, molly, lsd, shrooms, xans, oxy, you name it, pretty much with the exception of meth and heroin, I've done it and not just once). I am not proud of this (minus the fun I've had on psychs and even then not one of my better attributes). As a result of his abusive parenting style I have a hard time saying no and give in super easily to peer pressure. So much so that the first friends i met at college I still hang around with. These guys I probably shouldn't be around (the type where daddy pays for everything so they get a four-year drug fueled adventure in college). Don't get me wrong they aren't all that bad but just not the type of people I though I would be hanging around. I never thought I would be sleeping around, going to clubs on a Tuesday, and doing lines of coke off my island at 4pm but here we are. I am not proud of this but feel like I started doing these things because I was finally free. It is so hard to stop now. I think that I hang around them as a sense of rebellion to my parents and a sort of "f u" if you will. I know it is wrong but it feels good to finally be free. I have developed a raging nicotine addiction as well (something I am definitely not proud of). My parents have no idea. I have had to lie to them about things for the past three years.
I don't know if that is a result of my own actions or the years upon years upon years of constant yelling by my father. I mean for fucks sake the man never told me good job on anything. I got an A on a test it wasn't good job. It was "show me the test and what you got wrong," followed by a thirty minute yelling match about how I fucked up on the test. When I got into college on a full ride it wasn't good job it was "that is all because of me and the things I gave you." When I graduated high school it wasn't good job. It was my mom, god bless her she is great but tied down by my father, putting on a dinner party for me with all the neighbors and my parents friends. My dad was there but never even spoke to me (he just bullshitted to his friends about how I was such a hard worker (mind you he never told me this) and other things that narcissists do). I never was told good job when I got Eagle scout. That fucked me up, all of it. I am not one to want praise or one of those participation trophy people but come on that's fucked up at least in my mind. I never heard good job once.
He does the same shit to my brother but worse. My brother is 13 and in seventh grade at a private Christian K-12 school (one of those rich schools where the parents drive benzs and the kids have gucci shoes and shit). My father doesn't send my brother there because it is a better school, trust me, it is not by any stretch of the word. He sends him there to look better (aka "my kid goes to a private school you peasants" type of behavior). Recently, my brother was caught playing a computer game (papa's pizazaria on coolmathgames). Off topic but that is still the best one and you cannot change my mind. When he caught my brother they went at it for four hours. Now my dad checks my brothers search history, backpack and every single piece of paper in every binder every single day. He has moved my brothers desk into the living room and made my brother buy, with his own money, 300 dollar noise cancelling headphones to somehow be able to focus down there. My brother now has developed a twitch and the habit of twirling his hair. It was gotten so bad that some of his hair is falling out because of it and my dad refuses to take responsibility for it. The kid is so stressed that you would think he is on coke or meth the way he acts. He told me that he is scared when my dad comes home from work. I brought this up with my dad and asked him how he feels about his child being scared of him. My dad said nothing. Not one word. I am asking advice/thoughts on this situation.
To end things off I want advice on what I should do moving forward. I am home for the summer and working a job up here but am really considering not working and going back down to my school. I never had a normal childhood and can't stand my brother being treated this way. He is not allowed to go outside and play with the neighbor kids, watch TV, search ANYTHING on his computer, and take breaks longer than dinner away from his "schoolwork." I can't handle this shit anymore. I understand that part of my situation is my doing but I think it partly stems from the years of manipulation and control on behalf of my father. Am I overreacting? What would you do?
P.S. One final thing I wanted to say to get off my chest is that I do not respect this man. He yells at my mother constantly about how when she lets him be a kid and do kid things she is "setting him up for failure." I don't mean yelling I mean cussing and screaming to the point when I go to bed I can hear my mother crying. It hurts me to hear her cry it really does. I'm a bigger dude, 6 foot, 210, built. But that shit hurts. A fucking lot. I'm at the point where he needs to be confronted about it. I have lost every ounce of respect I have ever had for him. This may be an overreaction but I don't think so. He still controls my life. He tracks where I go in school, what I buy, etc. I have to lie to him sometimes but I am okay with that. This is the first real fun I have had in my life. I am doing pretty good in school, 3.1 gpa in a major I (not him) am happy in. I already have a job lined up outside of school making 58k straight out the gate. He has no idea because I don't tell him shit, he doesn't deserve to know in my mind. This is a man who will act super nice around everyone but our family. He is super active in the church and scouting, although he doesn't let my brother go anymore. He constantly gives to charity and volunteers around the community. You would never know this if you watched how our family operates on any given day behind closed doors. The only conversations I have with him now are about "why is there a charge for mexican food on the credit card. you should be studying," or my personal favorite "why is there a charge for x amount of dollars at a convenience store at 9:00 at night. Only bad people hang outside after dark (by bad people he is referring to everyone who is non-Christian by the way)."
This man has held me back so much even in college. I understand that this is partly my fault because as a legal adult I could have stopped this but I did not want to ruin our relationship. He stopped me from going on trips because "people could be drinkng" and has told me that on my 21st birthday (last week) that if he ever catches me drinking or vaping or anything I will not be allowed back into the house. I want to get clean but I do that shit as a fuck you to him. I apologize about cussing so much in here I'm just frustrated and need to get some stuff of my chest. I can't be the only one with parents like this. Right? I refuse to let this situation continue on. Should I do something about the way he treats me and my brother and mom? What do I do? What would you do? FYI cutting him out of my life entirely is not ideal because my mom and I still get along great. I would do it if there was a way to still be able to see my mom as they live in the same house. Minus certain political issues (mostly economic stuff) my dad and I don't agree on anything. He is the most judgemental person I have ever met in my life. I have met upwards of 1000 people in the past couple of years and he is by far the most judgemental person I have ever met. There is not even a close second.
Am I overreacting? What would you do in this situation? God bless and thanks for any and all responses/similar stories you all are willing to share. This seems like a great group of people. Stay blessed and if you need someone to talk to I am here for anything.

People were happy, children were singing, and life seemed beautiful again. But a soldierās senses know that this peace is just fake; it will not last long. This world is full of struggles, and new enemies are coming. The sky turned black under the power of the Shadow Rifts. Our hero must rush into the tigerās den to find out what is happening here. But what is the price? Is the world going to collapse again? Or will he lose the people he loves again? RPG FIGHTING GAMEPLAY This game is much more complicated than its previous version. First, the main character is very well personalized. Nowadays, fighting is a difficult process because you must know how to optimize your power through Shades. Because of this complex personalization, players feel the pressure they are under in the game. You feel like this character is yourself. Shades are pieces of power dropped from enemies you have defeated. They are all designed to be āinterrelated.ā The flying skill will be mixed with the remote beam shooting skill. - Enhanced RPG Elements: The popular Shadow Fight gameplay is carried over with improved role-playing aspects.
- Absorb Shadow Energy: Powerful, unpredictable abilities called Shades can be yours by absorbing Shadow Energy.
- Combine Shades: Use any combination of Shades to create deadly combos.
EXCITING BATTLES Although it is one of the most famous fighting games in the world, it still retains its 2D design. Itās almost like this design has become the trademark of this game series. Skills displayed on the screen include punching, kicking, and moving in 4 directions. Combining them into a chain creates combat combos like real martial arts. Because the combos you create are so strong, your opponent is also really strong to fight back. Getting to the new boss is truly a nightmare. Bosses are much stronger than you, and there is much emphasis. So much so that you have to spend several days to win it or give up halfway. The only way is to go back to normal leveling to become stronger. - Classic 2D Fighting: Classic 2D fighting with realistic combat animations.
- Easy to Learn: Easy to learn, hard to master combat system.
- Epic Boss Battles: Epic boss battles against dangerous enemies.
ROGUE-LIKE ELEMENTS But donāt underestimate the challenges before meeting a boss. Each name you face has its uniqueness. As you can imagine, the boss is the sum of all the previous weaker enemies. And it operates the skill perfectly without missing marks. Therefore, every time we pass a round, we must remember each personās fighting style to learn the opponentās moves later. Thanks to that, I created a perfect counter combo. If I got stuck, I went back to the beginning to fight and learn its moves. - Unique Runs: Each Rift run has random enemies and abilities.
- High Replayability: High replayability, as no two runs are ever the same.
- Increase Power: Become more powerful each run through synergies.
MULTIVERSE STORYLINE Each enemy represents a different world, and the boss is the strongest representative of this world. Until you defeat a boss, you can overcome another world. In general, there are 3 worlds with completely different themes for you to fight and show strength. Of course, everything you have in the game will be taken elsewhere to use. In other words, you possess power that others cannot have. Making the most of what you have to beat your enemies would be best. - 3 Diverse Worlds: Explore 3 different and diverse worlds through Shadow Rifts.
- Uncover Mystery: Uncover the mystery behind the Riftsā origins. The story will surprise you. Maybe this great disaster comes from you. For example, what about the final opponent being Shadowās ego?
- New Enemies & Locations: Meet new enemies and see new locations.
STUNNING VISUALS Talking about beauty, this game can be said to be the best in the fighting game world today. Even though it is a 2D game, the background is beautiful, making players feel the depth while fighting on the screen. The animation of a top game is smooth. You wonāt feel like any other game has such complex martial arts moves that can be played on a smartphone. Yet the movements of each move are very delicate. Even every centimeter of the opponentās body can be exploited. If you deviate a little, youāll be beaten immediately. - Beautiful Backgrounds: Beautiful 2D backgrounds and scenery. Each world will have different types of rivers and mountains. There are places where the forest is the color of blood and places as cold as thousands of years of ice. This overwhelming atmosphere certainly makes players tremble. Overcoming great pressure is also a way to make victory easier.
- Fluid Animations: Fluid combat animations that come to life.
- Iconic Visual Style: Faithful to the iconic Shadow Fight visual style.

I mean, I've always been a bit of a worrier, especially when it comes to my car door. I've had my fair share of lockouts, and it's never a good time. But this little tool, it's changed everything! First off, I love how versatile it is. I can reshape it to fit the thickness of my door and the location of the lock. It's like it's tailor-made just for me, and my car! Plus, it comes with a nice vinyl hand grip. It makes it so much easier to use. It's like holding onto a friendly, familiar face in a moment of pure panic. Another great thing about this tool is that it's portable. It folds up so neatly, like a little origami masterpiece. It fits perfectly in my pocket, purse, or any other compartment I can find. It's like having a magic trick up my sleeve, always ready to save the day. But, let's be real, no product is perfect. I have to admit, this tool can sometimes be a bit of a troublemaker. It's not always as smooth as I'd like it to be. There have been a few times when it's stuck in the narrow space between the door and the weather stripping. It's kind of like trying to force a square peg into a round hole, you know? It can be a bit frustrating. However, on the bright side, I've found that by taking a little extra time and being patient, I can usually get it to work. And when it does, it's such a relief! It's like a personal victory, and it makes me feel so smart and resourceful. So, would I recommend this product? Absolutely! It's not perfect, but it's worked wonders for me. It's like having a little insurance policy tucked away in my pocket, always there to help me out when I need it most. I'm just glad I stumbled upon it. https://preview.redd.it/scl6xh67ob1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f050ad141adf382263d7dcfea99d013d88623cc9 I recently discovered the Lock Technology 145 Easy Access Folding Door Opening Kit, and it has become an indispensable tool for unlocking my car doors. This compact device is a true lifesaver when I've locked my keys inside or when I need to access the trunk in a hurry. The highlights that caught my attention are the screws that don't require a coupler, which have made it incredibly easy to use. Plus, the collapsible design allows for easy storage in my glove compartment. Another great feature is the presence of a middle extension piece that covers the entire car and can be used for long reach applications. The shorter tip is perfect for accessing lock buttons, while the glowing tips on models 135-2B and 135-2C are an excellent innovation for nighttime use. One downside I experienced was the need for more precise angle adjustments when trying to unlock my car doors. While the rigid design facilitated easier access through the window, it could be trickier for those with less experience or unsteady hands. Other than that minor inconvenience, this door opening kit has been a game changer for me. So, if you're someone who often finds themselves in need of a last-minute or after-hours unlock solution, I highly recommend giving the Lock Technology 145 Easy Access Folding Door Opening Kit a try. You won't be disappointed! https://preview.redd.it/fza6i2i7ob1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4f23fa1bae38cffd98f2be3aca02604ddb5c709f Imagine locking your keys in your car. It's a frustrating and stressful situation, but with the Universal Lockout Tool, you can save yourself some time and money. This ingenious tool works with most American cars, as well as some international brands such as Audi, Toyota, and Volkswagen. The best part? It's made of sturdy metal, giving you the confidence to use it without worrying about damaging your vehicle. It measures about 5/8" x 22", making it compact enough to carry around in your glove compartment or tool kit. While some users have had issues with its thinness and flexibility, many professionals find it a decent entry-level tool for those occasional lockouts. Plus, at its affordable price, it's definitely worth considering as an insurance policy against those unexpected key-locking mishaps. But remember, practice makes perfect. Always read the directions included on the back of the package and familiarize yourself with the tool before attempting to use it on your car. With some patience and a bit of finesse, you'll be able to unlock your vehicle in no time! https://preview.redd.it/muh2e2z7ob1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d19305a1e6ea49f50436e7ed756977e30c865fab As a car enthusiast, I was excited to try out the Geevorks 12V door lock actuator. This kit made upgrading my old manual door locks to automatic ones a breeze! The installation was relatively easy, and the product included everything from door lock actuators to remote controls. The remote controls allowed me to lock and unlock my car from a distance, giving me peace of mind when I step away from my vehicle. One of the main highlights for me was the trunk release button, adding an extra layer of convenience when I need to access my trunk. Additionally, the door lock actuator can be used in remote control and alarm systems, making it a versatile product for various car security needs. On the downside, the remote control distance could be improved. In some cases, I experienced a weaker signal which made locking or unlocking the car from a distance less reliable. Despite this minor inconvenience, overall, the Geevorks door lock actuator has made my driving experience more secure and convenient. https://preview.redd.it/c6x7rm58ob1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=803f575bfc977f1e89d1fc88355828684cde5c1a Dorman's Emergency Door Unlock Tool is a handy little gadget that can save your day if you accidentally lock your keys inside your car. Imagine the relief of unlocking your car door within seconds using the slim design of this tool, which can be easily folded to fit in your pocket, purse or other compartments. The vinyl hand grip makes it comfortable and easy to use even in tight spaces. However, there are some downsides to consider. Some users found it difficult to get the tool past the window seal and mentioned it folds up easily during use. It may not work effectively for all types of car doors due to their varying thickness and lock locations. Overall, this tool can be quite useful for those who occasionally find themselves locked out of their vehicle. But be aware that it might require some practice or patience to get it right depending on your particular car model. So, if you're looking for a quick solution to this common mishap, Dorman's Emergency Door Unlock Tool could be worth a shot. https://preview.redd.it/s6357qm8ob1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a98a6022487db229e198a018819a6715ec59de81 I recently had an unfortunate experience where I locked myself out of my car. Panicking, I remembered the Universal 10-Piece Vehicle Unlock Tool Kit I'd heard about. Its assorted tools and convenient pouch seemed perfect for this situation. Upon pulling it out of the bag, I was immediately disappointed by the poor instructions. The metal tools felt flimsier than anticipated, bending on the first attempt. However, the variety of tools allowed me to eventually unlock my car door, although not without a fight. I wouldn't recommend this to a friend, but it did save me from an expensive professional service. The tool kit is compact and easy to carry, making it a handy emergency tool for drivers. The metal tools are versatile, catering to different vehicle models. The convenient pouch is spacious enough to hold all the tools. However, the build quality of the tools is disappointing, as they seem to bend easily under pressure. Overall, it's a useful tool kit for occasional use, but don't expect it to last a lifetime. https://preview.redd.it/tw4kx129ob1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=99dbc9a67e834fef37c0f4356ab77c6c6aeadaad I recently used the Lock Technology Easy Access Door Unlocking Tool Kit 135 in a tricky situation where I locked myself out of my car. To my relief, this 2-piece tool easily collapsed for convenient storage and extended to reach the car's windows. The whale tail tip design worked like a charm on the lock surfaces, making it a breeze to unlock my car door. Plus, the included plastic slip jim and door wedges provided extra support. However, despite the overall positive experience, I did face a minor issue with this kit. The lack of a highlight feature in the product description made it somewhat challenging to understand the exact specifications of each component. Additionally, the green color of the tool might not appeal to everyone's taste. In conclusion, the Lock Technology Easy Access Door Unlocking Tool Kit 135 proved to be a reliable and effective solution for my car lockout predicament. Its collapsible design, whale tail tip, and additional accessories make it a worthwhile investment for those looking to keep a handy tool in their vehicle for emergencies. https://preview.redd.it/m15v5eb9ob1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b7b2cb2558331b8dc5735088bb6188452d7505ae As a reviewer who has experienced the joy of retrieving keys from locked cars, I can attest to the life-saving capabilities of the Steck Big Easy Glow with Wedge Lockout Tool Kit. This kit has everything you need to rescue someone from their own forgetfulness or mischief at any hour of the day or night. The glow-in-the-dark yellow hue is not only cool but also incredibly functional, allowing you to see the tool even through tinted windows. One aspect that really stood out for me was the easy wedge feature. It offers controlled opening of the car door for insertion of the Big Easy Glo, making it incredibly easy to access the inside of the vehicle without causing any damage. Additionally, its non-marring wedge prevents scratches or damages to your car, ensuring your beloved vehicle stays pristine even after a minor lockout incident. However, despite its many positives, there are a few cons worth noting. The included air wedge seems to be somewhat delicate and may not last as long as other parts of the kit. Also, while the kit is effective on 98% of all cars and trucks, there might be some models or makes that are not compatible with this tool. In conclusion, if you're someone who often encounters people locked out of their cars, then the Steck Big Easy Glow with Wedge Lockout Tool Kit is definitely worth considering. It's easy to use, effective, and offers an array of useful features that cater to different types of car locks. While it may have some minor drawbacks, overall, it's a reliable tool that can save both time and money when used appropriately. https://preview.redd.it/r29an9o9ob1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=81653982435b7669f52d6214c42ae406814781ae I have been using the Steck Lockout Tool Kit Big Easy for over a year now, and let me tell you, it's been an absolute game-changer. This tool has saved me countless times when I've locked my keys inside the car, much to the amusement of my friends. One of the first things that stood out was the high visibility pink powder coating on its 55-inch long handle. In the middle of the night or during a snowstorm, finding this pink tool is a breeze compared to the black ones I used before. Plus, the improved non-marring wedge is now wider, longer, and smoother, making it even easier to use in various car models. While the Big Easy is primarily designed for unlocking car doors, it also features a lock knob lifter, which comes in handy for cars with flat lock knobs at the top of the door. No more trying to improvise with a wire hanger or credit card - the Big Easy does it all. However, there are a couple of minor drawbacks. Some users might find the storage size of the tool inconvenient, and it would be great if the package included a pump-up air bag for extra versatility. Overall, the Steck Lockout Tool Kit Big Easy has been a reliable and convenient addition to my toolbox. With its 55-inch long handle and high visibility pink coating, I can quickly and easily unlock any car door without causing damage. If you're someone who frequently misplaces their keys or finds themselves locked out of their vehicle, I highly recommend giving this tool a try. https://preview.redd.it/fxzncp7aob1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8d107018b76834aab8c3b04d5635f15620b73de1 I recently installed the Biltek Power Car Door Lock and Unlock Kit in my Chevy Colorado, and I must say, it has been a game-changer. Before, I had to manually lock and unlock each door, but now, everything is just a button press away. The package included everything I needed to get started, from the simple diagram to the main module and actuators. Plus, it's compatible with my alarm system, so I can control everything right from my alarm remote. The standout feature for me is the keyless entry. It's so convenient to hop in the car and just unlock the doors with a push of a button. The only downside I noticed was that the installation process took some time and effort, but once it was done, everything worked seamlessly. Overall, I highly recommend the Biltek Power Car Door Lock and Unlock Kit to anyone looking to upgrade their vehicle to a central locking system with keyless entry. It's easy to use, reliable, and a great investment for any car owner. https://preview.redd.it/5errq2gaob1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1b3b2d0192c67af9501b4d932da30d6f87609898 I recently upgraded my car with the Biltek CX-402 Universal Central Door Lock and Unlock Conversion Kit, and I must say it's made a world of difference in terms of convenience. The kit is easy to install, requiring no additional hardware and coming with a clear diagram that guides you through the process. One of the standout features is its universal compatibility, fitting all known cars, trucks, SUVs, and vans. This has been particularly useful for me, as I often drive different vehicles. The Central locking system provides a state-of-the-art solution, converting manual door locks into a fully functional keyless entry system. However, there's a downside to this product - the poor-quality wires. The wires were the only problem I encountered during installation, which was quite frustrating. Despite this, the Biltek CX-402 is an overall solid choice for anyone looking to upgrade their vehicle's locking system. https://preview.redd.it/88tquntaob1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ff513b3f87a7f0209a4f510974338b3750cc8e2a I recently got my hands on this LTI LT-126 Easy Access Tool and boy, has it been a game-changer for me! After suffering countless failed attempts to unlock doors in tight spaces or with tricky locks, this little tool has made things so much easier. The whale tail tip design is pure genius, allowing it to grip the lock more securely and catch it without much effort. Plus, the fact that you can use it with or without the vinyl tips depending on your preference just adds to its versatility. What I particularly appreciated was how the tool came packaged in a simple yet sturdy custom kraft cardboard box. Not only did it make the whole experience feel more special, but also added an environmental touch which is always a welcome sight. However, one thing that could have been even better was if the tool had come with some detailed instructions on how best to handle it, especially for first-time users. Nonetheless, once you figure out the right technique, this LTI LT-126 Easy Access Door Tool truly lives up to its name! https://preview.redd.it/31d6i74bob1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2939790b1647de9e7853c7573b56fde97666955c As a frequent traveler, I've found the Grip 8pc Lockout Tool Kit to be an absolute lifesaver. Imagine being stuck outside your car on a sweltering day, with no spare key or anyone to help you out. That's where this tool kit comes in. It's got everything you need to unlock your car door in no time. One of the standout features of this kit is the slim jim bars - they're so thin yet sturdy, you'll wonder how they're able to pry open even the toughest doors. The slim jim bars are backed up by other useful tools like the wire form S hook slide lock tool and the wonder tool. Together, they make sure you're never locked out for long. On the flip side, I did find the metal parts to be slightly flimsier than I'd hoped. It's not a deal-breaker but it does make me wary of using this kit too frequently. However, for occasional usage or as a backup tool, the Grip 8pc Lockout Tool Kit definitely earns its keep. In conclusion, this tool kit has proven to be an essential part of my travel gear. It's well-made, easy to use, and offers a range of tools for different types of car doors. So whether you're prone to misplacing your keys or simply want to be prepared for any situation, the Grip 8pc Lockout Tool Kit is a worthwhile investment. Will using a car door unlock kit damage my vehicle? A high-quality car door unlock kit should not damage your vehicle. However, if you use improper techniques or force the tools, there is a risk of causing minor scratches or damage. To avoid this, ensure you follow the instructions that come with the kit and use the tools gently and carefully. How much does a car door unlock kit cost? The cost of a car door unlock kit varies depending on the brand, quality, and the type of tools included in the kit. Prices can start at around $10 for basic kits and range up to $50 or more for more advanced, professional-grade sets. It's essential to consider factors such as your expertise, the specific tools needed, and the value for money when choosing a car door unlock kit. Is it legal to use a car door unlock kit? In most cases, it is legal to use a car door unlock kit on your own vehicle. However, using a unlock kit on someone else's vehicle without their consent could be considered a crime. It's crucial to familiarize yourself with local laws and ensure you have permission from the vehicle owner before using a car door unlock kit on their vehicle. How can I prevent needing to use a car door unlock kit in the future? To prevent the need for using a car door unlock kit in the future, consider adding a spare key or key fob to your possession, or programming an emergency contact with access to a spare key. Additionally, always double-check your pockets, bags, or purse before leaving your vehicle to ensure you have your keys with you at all times. 2024.05.19 07:49 RadioRavenRide Activity Shilling: What if Neoliberals contributed to Bridge-building?
It if my belief that the hardest liberal ideal to uphold is not property rights or free-markets but pluralism. This is because the instinct to demonize and distance oneself from one's enemies is overwhelmingly strong, driven by pride, fear, anger, and disgust. But we should stand against these impulses, for the very core of democracy relies on people and groups of different to engage and hash out a plan for the future. With that in mind, I would like to make a case that one of the most powerful and useful things a principles neoliberal can do is bridge build.
What is Bridge Building?
Bridge-building is not rigorously defined because it's pretty new, but it comes from very old human instincts: curiosity and a desire for authentic connection.
Curiosity is not just a desire for knowledge, but a desire to expand one's view of the world and a practice of being an ever-enthusiastic learner. Curiosity does not have to be about facts but also about new experiences and ways of thinking. To be curious about a person is not necessarily wanting to know their social security number, but how they came to where they are in life and how they see the world. Curiosity is not just touching grass, but appreciating the park's beauty. If I were not curious, I would likely have noped out of this subreddit based on the name alone. But because I was, I read the sidebar.
It is my belief that people have an innate desire to be heard, to be seen and respected. And although it is diminished as of late, people also have the capacity to truly connect to others on a deeper-than-superficial level. This is hard online, but much easier in the real world. This desire and capacity for connection can help people overcome great differences and sprout the seeds of a great friendship.
Based on these two principles, Bridge-Building is a movement to ease polarization by connecting people of different backgrounds and groups together to foster greater understanding. The goal is not to reduce disagreement, but to make it more productive.
Why should Neoliberals Aim to Bridge Build?
Yeah, why should we? If we know best, why should we listen to those chumps? After all, I already have a name for everyone to right and left of me: wrong.
For one, do we really know best about everything? In the Socratic Dialogue
Meno, Socrates and the politician Meno discuss the nature of virtue. During a debate on whether virtue can be taught, Meno asks Socrates this:
And how will you enquire, Socrates, into that which you do not know? What will you put forth as the subject of enquiry? And if you find what you want, how will you ever know that this is the thing which you did not know?
Here in lies Meno's Paradox: how do you know if you need to learn? If you already have that knowledge, you do not need to look any longer. And if you don't, then you have no idea what you're searching for. Socrates uses the idea of inbuilt knowledge as his answer, but I have another one which may strike more directly to the interests of liberals: simply assume that your knowledge is incomplete, and seek a more complete picture. Given all the knowledge in the world out there and all the things have yet to be discovered, it is unlikely that you or any other person has the complete picture on even a single issue.
But even if we do not know everything, if there value in learning from those of different views of us? I say that there is, and I will use another famous parable, this time from Buddhism, to illustrate my point. In this story, a kind invites a group of blind men to experience something that they have never encountered before: an elephant. When each blind man has felt a part of the creature, the king asks them to describe what they are touching. The man touching the foot says that the thing is a pillar, the man touching the trunk says it is a plow, the man touching the tip of the tail says a brush, and so on. The blind men cannot agree on what they are all touching, and so start an ancient version of a flamewar which entertains the king. In this story, the elephant is "The Truth", if such a thing exists. Although we all come in contact with the truth and with reality, we each come at it at different angles, like how the blind men are touching different parts. This means that while our individual perspectives are incomplete, they can be put together as a much more complete picture. People who remember the "wisdom" of the crowds should also recognize the powerful insights that can come from non-experts, especially as a group. Neoliberals who aspire to be "evidence-based" should not just gather evidence from different sources, but learn about different ways of thinking from others, or else they would be like one blind man squeezing the elephant's gonads really hard and thinking he's touching a balloon.
Hoewver, there are a lot of people who will reply to this very post and say, "isn't it dangerous to engage with certain people? What about those who are too stupid and hateful to learn?". Firstly, you should never bridge build if you feel unsafe. However, feeling unsafe is not the same as feeling uncomfortable, and discomfort may help you shake out of old patterns. Secondly, the foremost goal of substantive discussion is not to teach but to learn: even if the other party is too stupid to learn, if you are able to listen and learn you will have gained from the conversation. This may not always work out, but I promise you that when it does the effect is magical.
How do you Bridge Build?
This is the hard part. I haven't fully figured it out myself, but I have some pointers:
- Be patient. People, especially people on the internet, are no the most eloquent speakers. Struggling to find the right words or having incorrect grammar and spelling should not be taken as signs of being dumb babies not worth talking to. Additionally, try not assume all of what people are based on snippets of information.
- Be polite. Avoiding infamatory remarks ("You can't even read a supply and demand graph") and ambiguous slogans ("From the river to the sea, drugs will be free!") and try to keep the focus on the issues instead of the other person (or what you assume of the other person).
3.Stand up for your beliefs. Common ground is only real if it is earned. Be upfront about what you believe and how you came to believe those things. Anything else would be a disservice to the other party.
- Follow your curiosity. Try to ask questions in good faith instead of as traps (although I admit I do this a lot). Who knows where the inquiry will go?
But if that's too hard or ambiguous, there's a lot of help out there. Here are some organizations and projects that specialize in bridge-building:
Braver Angels: They host workshops, debates, and other events for bridging divides. I also like their A Braver Way Podcast. They also happen to be associated with one
American Purpose Magazine.
One Small Step by StoryCorps: If you sign up, they may match you with someone they think you will have a fruitful conversation with.
National Institue for Civil Discourse: Come on, one of the founding Co-Chairs was Bill Clinton, and a former board member was H.W. Bush.
There are many more, so feel free to search for yourself. So, why not try building some bridges? They're an important piece of infrastructure.

2024.05.19 07:43 judaspreis Anyone else ever been asked out as a joke?
When I was in high school I got asked out once by a girl who I knew of but did not know personally while I was in my free period. I tried to play it cool when I said yes but I remember my heart was racing and I couldnāt believe what was happening. That day I when I got home words couldnāt describe how excited I was. I mean someone asked ME out! Like thatās the greatest thing to have ever happened to me. I was so happy I remember telling my mom that a girl wanted to go out with me, and not only that she asked me too! She couldnāt believe it and was so happy for me. I was already planning what I was gonna wear, what we could do for the date, the cologne I wanted to wear, and the flowers I wanted to get her. I truly thought things were looking up for once cause my highschool experience had been pretty awful. She gave me her IG to text her when she asked me and I followed her but she never followed back so I figured she might not have seen it or was just busy. The next day however, I was told by a group of semi-friends that I had that they were told by the girl and her friends that it was actually just a dare and wasnāt serious and she had no intention of going out with me. I was devastated and when I got home from school that day I fucking sobbed. I wanted to get ahead of it cause I already told my mom I was gonna go on a date with a girl some time soon but that was obviously not gonna happen so I told her the girl that asked me was actually very nervous and asked if we could get to know each other more in the school setting before we meet outside of school just to buy myself time. But yeah it was awful and it hurts me all these years later to think about.

2024.05.19 07:40 Many_Respond157 Don't Forget (Truths about the Knowledge & Conversation with the Holy Guardian Angel)
2 years ago I made contact with the Holy Guardian Angel at a park bench.
How will you know that your speaking to the Host of the Most Ancient Holy One? You will be sent to a realm where everybody disappears. Existence is quite literally hevel. I saw humans vanish with my naked eye!
Be as hospitable as possible.
Follow instructions. Study much! (the Hosts of G-d speak in a very subtle manner) āKeep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and nightā (Josh. 1: 8)
Zohar Bereshit (passages of Abraham meeting the Angels of the L-rd), the Wisdom Books of Solomon (Pure Kabbalah) & Bhagavad Gita(This is another story about the encounter with the Hosts of G-d),
Release all sorrow and woe. For the Goal is Union (Not therapy!)
Sustain your consciousness so that you may ask the Angel to bless you, your family, and your descendants. This is the brilliance of Jacob.
"Jacob was left alone. And a figure wrestled with him until the break of dawn.
×Ö·×Ö¼Ö·Ö×ØÖ°× ×Ö¼Ö“Ö£× ×Ö¹Ö¤× ×Öø×Ö¹×Ö ×Ö×Ö¹ ×Ö·×Ö¼Ö“×Ö¼Ö·Ö×¢ ×Ö¼Ö°×Ö·×£Ö¾×Ö°×ØÖµ×Ö×Ö¹ ×Ö·×ŖÖ¼ÖµÖ×§Ö·×¢Ö ×Ö¼Ö·×£Ö¾×Ö¶Ö£×ØÖ¶×Ö° ×ַעֲקֹÖ× ×Ö¼Ö°×Öµ×ÖøÖ½×ְקÖ×Ö¹ ×¢Ö“×Ö¼Ö½×Ö¹×
When he saw that he had not prevailed against him, he wrenched Jacobās hip at its socket, so that the socket of his hip was strained as he wrestled with him.

Then he said, āLet me go, for dawn is breaking.ā But he answered, āI will not let you go, unless you bless me.ā
The brilliance of this great right is reconnecting to your True Source. Even a failed Union has great benefits. After this experience stay inside to avoid entities, djinn, and inorganic beings attaching to your consciousness. Do not worship or set your awareness to the stars.
Do drugs responsibly!
Quran 87:14 Successful indeed are those who purify themselves...
Drugs used prior to this encounter: Iboga, LSD ,Marijuana, Shrooms, Smoked Gotu Kola, Smoked Shrooms with Tobacco, Marijuana Pen, Flying Ointment, Kosher Wine, and Ormus (Powdered Monatomic Gold). I believe it was mainly the Iboga and the LSD that helped me reach that level of disassociation. Ormus provided a certain clairvoyance.
And anoint your head with oil!
Ultimately I failed complete union and entrance into the after life and the City of the Pyramids (Malakut) because of my egoic attachments: relationships, friends etc.
**×Ö¶×ŖÖ¾×ַעֲש×ÖµÖ„× ×Öø×Ö¶Ö½××Öø×Donāt let your mouth bring you into disfavor, and donāt plead before the messenger that it was an error, but fear G-d;**-c else G-d may be angered by your talk and destroy your possessions.
Reread these words carefully because this is why Crowley died poor and alone. G-d does not have time for fools.
This is a great rite. Do not think lowly of such an encounter for I believe this is the power that Crowley summoned to have G-d favor the Brits in WW2.
You only get one chance to enter the afterlife in this manner. Good luck to all and feel free to ask any questions.

2024.05.19 07:36 Fast-Equivalent-6555 Looking for current students with summer availability.
I'm curious to know what everyone is planning to do this summer for juniors or seniors? I'm a junior this year, in other words not far from graduation, and I'm looking for my own business team, is there anyone out there who doesn't have anything to do this summer and would like to join my team? Three requirements: a student at my university and free for the summer, great English or French skills, and someone who can move around in Ontario.

2024.05.19 07:30 White_Ring Best gaming mouse to buy right now
Hello everyone, The most asked question in most gaming related subreddits in "what the best gaming mouse?" I have seen a lot of redditors struggling to find the best gaming mouse for themselves. Some people find it difficult to find the best in budget mouse. So, I have created a list of best gaming mouse to cover all your needs. It includes some high-end mouse and some budget options too.
- Razer Viper V2 Pro (best overall)
- Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro (runner up)
- Logitech G305 Lightspeed (best budget)
- Fantech Aria XD7 (best mid range)
- Razer Basilisk V3 (budget alternative)
The Razer Viper V2 Pro is the best mouse for gaming. It has the same shape as previous models in this popular lineup, which makes it ideal for using a claw or fingertip grip. However, it's now significantly lighter and features Razer's updated Focus Pro 30K sensor, one of the most accurate and consistent sensors we've tested. Additionally, its click buttons use optical switches designed to prevent double-clicking and last longer than standard mechanical switches.
While this version is significantly lighter and easier to move quickly, it lacks some features that characterized previous models in the lineup, including rubber side grips, RGB lighting, and side buttons on both sides. If you're more interested in weight savings, you may feel these changes are for the best.
With over 15 million sold since its inception, the Razer DeathAdder has certainly earned its place as one of the best gaming mouse. There have been so many iterations and variants of the legendary mouse and with the newest one, the DeathAdder V3 Pro, Razer isnāt really messing with a winning formula. This is a mouse that focusses on the very best aspects of its predecessor, and that comes in the form of excellent ergonomics and pro-level performance.
It's fast, comfortable, has excellent battery life, and is supremely accurate in the right hands. Razer claims 90 hours battery life, and the little squeaker only needed a mere single charge in three weeks of usage.
If you want to stick to a more budget price point, I recommend the Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED. The G305's symmetrical, egg-shaped body is very comfortable and accommodating for nearly all hand sizes using a claw or fingertip grip. The build quality is also impressive. There's no creaking or flexibility in the body, and despite being significantly more affordable, it feels nearly as premium as the more expensive Logitech G502 LIGHTSPEED. It connects wirelessly with Logitech's LIGHTSPEED USB receiver and gets an impressive advertised battery life of up to 250 hours from a single AA battery.
Last but not least, this mouse has excellent click latency and consistent sensor performance. Its major downside is its weight (101 g), making it harder to make snappy, responsive mouse movements for faster-paced games.
At a mid-range price point, I recommend the Fantech Aria XD7. Its symmetrical, egg-like shape provides a comfortable fit for most hand sizes and grip type preferences. Despite its more affordable price tag, it's only a bit heavier than my top pick, the Razer Viper V2 Pro. It has PixArt's flagship sensor, the PAW 3395, which is closely related to the sensor in the Razer and offers superior performance across the board. It's pictured in its lightest configuration with a modular back plate with small cutouts to save weight. That said, it also comes with a solid back plate option that's only slightly heavier if you prefer the look and feel of a solid plastic body.
If this mouse has a weakness, the battery life sits at a maximum of around 30 hours between charges. While this won't present any problems if you get into a regular recharging schedule, it may be annoying if your usage is more variable.
The Razer Basilisk V3 is the best mouse for gaming at a lower mid-range price point. This mouse is similar to the Logitech G502 LIGHTSPEED in many ways. The biggest difference is that this is a wired-only model. Otherwise, they share nearly identical ergonomic shapes, an impressive array of customizable controls, and outstanding sensor performance and click latency. The scroll wheel also has left and right tilt inputs and can switch between regular notched mode and a much faster free-scrolling mode.
Because it doesn't need to hold a rechargeable battery, it's significantly lighter than the G502 LIGHTSPEED. This is a notable advantage, making it easier to move quickly and accurately, which is handy for playing faster-paced games.

Guardian's intercept foe and intercept strike with 3 reactions brought manueverability and surviveability to the Guardian which when combined with the plant banner temp hp; they felt very strong and useful. Alchemist and Fighter added persistent damage from multiple sources which helped take down the construct, before it went down from persistent damage, it got a hit and two nat20s against the Commander. Guardian blocked the damage but the wording of the ability gave the Commander the fort save to avoid beheading, which were successful.
Second fight against the triple Lesser Deaths, as we were messing with runes, I planted banner since there was nothing stopping me from having it planted in the middle of the room before combat that we saw. I used nearly every round, Ready, Aim, Fire! No one went down during the entire combat but I got close to 8 hp from the LD's using their in game meta knowledge to target my eidolon at -6 AC. Chiurgeon participated in RAF once with Spirit Charge and the LD ignored the damage. My rounds as the commander primarily consisted of using Fortunante Blow with a runeless fist dealing 1d4 +5 + 4 damage with 1-2 successful hits, using RAF, and if the LD next to me tried to teleport to hit an ally I used Reactive Interference to just deny it since their level was not greater than mine. Chiurgeon healed, and their Spirit Charge granted enfeebled 2 which when combined with guardian taunt for 1 round prevented over 150 damage from multiple strikes including a keen 19. Guardian was kinda dancing between 2 party members at any time and taking hits for the rest of us.
Third fight was against a GM anti-party after destroying a final blade, the anti-party was a reach fighter, a water kineticist, and a Guardian. I went first and used Form up to help party march to the enemy faster so we could use reactions since most of the party went before most of the enemies. The kin did very little, and the Guardian's reactions were destroyed by a combo of Piranha Assault reducing their resistance to 2, and Reactive Interference preventing one from happening in the first place every round. Our Guardian made me the body guard target since I was getting hit a lot and the alchemist not at all, and it helped to reduce my near death from being heavily targeted. The GM had bad rolls on this fight so once the fighter went down we all agreed it would just be a number of rounds to victory rather than any question of winning so we ended it there.
Overall, I think the Commander has certain abilities that are too strong, and with so few learned tactics slots there is little reason to pick other abilities.
Plant banner is too weak in the beginning but too strong in late game, 2 until level 5, then it's 4 until 10, 5 until 15, then it becomes 5 + level which is 20 at 15. And given that the temp hp from it is when you plant the banner, and at the start of each of your ally's turns makes it too strong at 15, but not something that worth taking before.
Ready, Aim, Fire! is when combined with a party who optimized for being good at ranged attacks/cantrips, can be frighteningly good, we still had good results with very minor synergy with it.
The Guardian player felt good, with the increased damage resistance, the temp hp, the multiple reactions, and ability to move quickly across the battle field they felt like they did contribute to the fight. The sheer amount of actions from reactions and the free stuff from them plus the action compression from shielded taunt is amazing. But compared to the 5th level play, it felt good here and bad there, which is not something one wants to see since lower level play is much more frequent. The multiple reactions should probably come earlier, and the ability to go later in combat without delaying since that loses your reactions until you come out of delay would be appreciated. Something similar to Swash's After You.
Since this is focused on the playtest I didn't talk about the Fighter or the Alchemist much, but the alchemist's healing came in quite clutch to prevent party members from going down, and the Fighter was the main source of consistent damage with their feat that gives flat damage on a failed attack with the press trait.
The fights took longer IRL and in combat than most of our like 4-5 other run throughs from the home game and the several playtests since then. Kin being the fastest at LD due to TPK in like round 4 thanks to the manipulate and concentrate trait on everything Kin back then.

2024.05.19 07:18 FallenShadeslayer [Very Long] The Last Faith (PS5) - May 2024 Review
The Last Faith is what you get when you combine the tone and allure of
Bloodborne mixed with the flowing combat and sheer
coolness of
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Theres also a sprinkle of
Blasphemous in there, for some reason. It's also a game that isn't quite sure if it wants to be a souls-like and near-copy of
Bloodborne or just a simple metroidvania. In two sentences i've probably confused you. Good, now we're both on the same page. This is
The Last Faith.
The Last Faith puts you in the shoes of Eryk. Eryk is a swell guy. He cares for everyone, questions little, never says a mean word and goes out of his way to help out hapless NPC's as well literal monsters. While everyone around him is content to compliment him on his combat prowess, Eryk thinks he's just a dude. Does that sound like the main character of a game that's basically 2D
Bloodborne? It's a mismatch for the tone of the game and while it wasn't enough to take me out of the experience, I couldn't help but feel he belongs in another game.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons, maybe? He'd make a killing on the stalk market.
----------------------------------------------------------------
"2Blood, 2 Blasphemous"
He's also afflicted with... something. And oh boy, when that something finally reveals itself it.. oh wait it doesn't ever fully reveal itself. This game's version of "souls" is called "Nycrux."
Sigh. Can we just call them souls, please? For the love of the moon presence we don't need cute names for the currency with every souls-like. In typical souls-like fashion though the Nycrux is also what our character is afflicted by. I think. What does it do? No clue! Did I even pay attention to the story?! Dude I
tried. I really did. The notes and item descriptions did little to help me piece together the story, unlike FromSoftware games. It's utterly non-sensical.
Speaking of potions and ammo, this game is VERY similar to
Bloodborne. Unlike
Elden Ring or the Souls series, you have health potions that do not refill upon death. You have to find them in the world or buy them. Just like
Bloodborne. The same goes for ammo. This wasn't an issue. The game throws so many health potions at you and they're so cheap to buy I had nearly 200 at the end. Which begs the question, why even do this? Because
Bloodborne did it? There's little tension in death when I have 15 heals and know I can easily go get 50 more in a matter of minutes.
Combat is standard fare but feels quite good. Let's take a look at some super cool bullet points! - You have a light attack and you are also able up charge up that attack which I did precisely 6 times and never again because it's utterly useless.
- Each weapon also has a unique (or somewhat unique) weapon art. In addition you have whats called a Stigma and this allows you to use various abilities such as a shield, parry or something else I found to be rarely helpful which is thebeast mode.
- Combat revolves around rolling, attacking and learning enemy patterns. Parries and block's don't factor in as much here but they absolutely can if you are dedicated to pulling them off. And they feel great!
- My play-style started as your standard strength build and then morphed into a mage who used a big ass scythe. So like a DEX/INT build. Very grim, very reaper.
- The spells themselves are varied and quite cool and are good for helping you to get in close. The game also features guns. I used them to varying degrees but they all worked well and while I never felt like I NEEDED to use them, I had fun with them nonetheless.
- Like any souls-like, you can level up your character (STR, DEX, INT, etc) as well as your weapon. Each weapon will scale depending on what stats you invest in and the game is VERY generous with its scaling.
- Weapon requirements exist and I cannot for the life of me figure out why. You can wield any weapon or spell in the game regardless if you have the stats or not and the only penalty is a slight decrease in damage.
- Your roll has I-frames. And sometimes it doesn't. It was frustrating be able to doge into a projectile and come out unscathed and then I try it again with a different move and get hit.
- Bosses varied wildly in difficulty. Some where extremely easy while the last few bosses has me questioning my sanity. Very few were inspired, but they all felt right at home in the world.
Now lets talk about how this is as a metroidvania. Every area in the game features a myriad of locked doors, hidden alcoves and plenty of spikes to insta-kill you. There's a plethora of platforming segments and none of them are particularly difficult. You won't find the punishing difficulty of
Aeterna Noctis or the intricate and rage inducing, but satisfying platforming of
Blasphemous. Instead it's primarily ability based. You'll find quite a bit of fun to be had in gaining abilities and marrying the light platform sections with learning enemy patterns.
The mood and atmosphere in the game are absolutely superb, but the environments don't reflect this as well as they could have. You have your standard ice area and swamp area, but for the most part it's just houses and caves. For me, the pacing of when you get abilities varied wildly. Being a metroidvania, there are a number of zones to choose from and some you can miss entirely. Depending on your path you may find the game doles out abilities far too slowly and it just feels like you're not progressing.
I didn't even get one of the coolest abilities until right before the end because I just happened to miss a tiny path barely viable on the map that led to an entire zone. Because of course it did. When you play a metroidvania, these are the things you accept going in and it's what makes these games special. I do wish the game would have had a more set progression path for your abilities, however.
All in all, I enjoyed my time with
The Last Faith. Part of me feels this would have been better off as just a metroidvania or Castlevania-like, but it does combat and movement well and has a top notch atmosphere.
I recommend The Last Faith. Some random things that didn't fit in the main body of the review. - When you die to a boss, your "Nycrux" spawns right there with you at the checkpoint. I greatly appreciate that. Boss corpse runs are the WORST. But also kind of fun if i'm being honest.
- Status effects in this game are utterly useless against bosses, as I only got one status effect to proc on a boss ONE time in the entire game.
- A massive issue I have with this game is this insane input delay after you roll or dash. I cut the section on it as this is already too long but it nearly ruined some boss fights for me. You have to HOPE you are already perfectly positioned when a boss does a big AOE and if not, oh well. That input delay isnt letting you get out of the way in time.
- Hope you like Monster Closets, because very frequently this game will lock you in a room with a gauntlet of spawning enemies and wont let you leave until they're dead.
- The Game has 3 endings and some pretty cool hidden bosses. One of which was the best fight in the game and isn't too hidden. The game leads you to it quite well, actually!

2024.05.19 07:11 cleavage-2-beaver M4F - Straight On Until Morning [Peter Pan Inspired] [Dark Romance] [Violence] [Crime] [Thriller]
This is my first script. Please be kind. If it sucks, it sucks, but I had fun writing it nonetheless.
Please link me if you use/fill it. I would love to hear your take on it. Free to monetize, Youtube, Patreon, whatever, I just want to hear it. :)
Please give me credit: RE: My Darling / Remy Darling
Scene setter: Italics
SpeakeVA: Bold text with "quotes" outside of the sentence/phrases
Internal monologue: Bold/italics
Action of character or SFX: ((Double Parenthesis))
Response from a character: ((pause))
Speaker: You are Killian James a.k.a. Hook. Your eyes are the color of the sea, your hair is dark as night, and you are dashing, troubled, and flirtatious. The lilt of an accent gives you a melodic tone, and your personality is dark, playful, and direct. You are comfortable in three-piece suits, and are a dangerous man with many secrets.
Listener: Your name is Wendy. Your friends have convinced you to go to a bar downtown in the more dangerous part of the city due to rumors, only they end up bailing without you. You are going to go home after you finish your drink. The bar is called Never Land, Where, according to your friends rumors, the owner is a mysterious man that they all seem fascinated with. Apparently, he is tall, dark, and handsome ā a devil of a man that goes by a strange name. They call himā¦ Hook.
((SFX ā The club is above this basement 'torture chamber' area-you can hear the music of the club playing muffled. The basement area is clean and not dungeon-y but is more of a modern torture chamber with drains for easy ahā¦ clean up))
SCENE: There is a man chained/tied up. Hook enters the room, looking almost bored that he needs to be there. He takes off his jacket, handing it to one of his henchmen, leaving the vest on, before he unbuttons his cuffs and starts rolling the sleeves up.
āIām not pleased that our shipment is late, Mr. Jukes. It was supposed to arrive on a super yacht named the āJolly Rogerā today with a bunch of rich snobs who were none the wiser. Your men guaranteed me that it would arrive with the staff and be loaded off on the dock shortly after, however, that is yet to come to fruition, and I am not a patient man.ā
((SFX: VA puts on leather gloves, stretches fingers and gets comfortable in them))
āI am aware that they have taken a detour due to a storm, Jukes ā but your mismanagement of my time, and my money, are not to be forgotten. Bad form, Jukes! Bad form!ā
((SFX: dragging knife sound ā //our character uses a tactical Hook knife. Itās typically for gutting deer ā not really necessary to know, itās just to flesh out the character for you//, Hook approaches slowly))
āI know it won't happen again. Donāt worry, Jukes, since this is your first time having erred with me, I shall simply leave you with a small reminder. I expect the shipment to be directed to our port swiftly, otherwise, I wonāt be nearly as lenient again.ā
((SFX chains straining, screaming that becomes muffled screaming, as Hook takes his knife and leaves the man with a Cheshire Grin/Glasglow Smile up one side of his face, heavy breathing for a moment, as he returns and throws his knife down on the table))
āGet me my other three-piece suit from my office and a clean shirt. Iāve got this bastardās blood all over me. He's not to be given his freedom until I hear that the shipment has come in from the Jolly Roger. If it does not go to plan ā we will have to take further, more drastic actions and I donāt want to have to find this cad, Mr. Jukes, again. Do I make myself clear?ā
((henchmen answer))
āGood.ā
((SFX ā him pulling off the leather gloves and getting changed))
āOne of you stay here and watch him. Tonight Iāll be on the club floor. Iām not to be interrupted until The Crocodile has made contact. Is that understood?ā
((pause))
āGood. That is all.ā
((he leaves))
((SFX ā transition to this however you like))
\*modern day, bar scene/sounds (*no* jazz or classical music - it's a nightclub), people mingling in the background. In enters our VA/Hook.*
āTinkerbell, pour me my usual, will you, dear?ā
((Tink is quick, and slides him his drink. Sip, sigh, and pause as he looks around)) (( This internal thought is not necessary but if you want to, go for it ))
\*internal thought*\** Whoās this? Oh my, sweet lamb, you are definitely in the wrong place.
āTink, one last thing, could you possibly tell me anything about that young woman there? The one in light blue.ā
((listening intently for a moment))
āHm. Lovely. Thank you, dear.ā
((SFX ā he puts down his drink, footsteps/fine Italian leather shoes approaching the young lady who is at the bar))
āWell, well, wellā¦ Isnāt that a beautiful dress on an even more beautiful woman. That color of blue really suits you. Youā¦ are a piece of art. A fascinating and intriguing piece of art. However, you donāt quite seem like you belong here.ā
((pause))
āSomeone as divine as you, as *innocent* as you, dressed as you are, doesnāt really seem to fit in. Not in this kind of place. You look more like you would fit in one of the high-class jazz lounges uptown. Martinis, a piano player, velvet couches and the like. Do you think that you fit in amongst these gentlemen of fortune and these women dressed in their slinky club clothes? Look around, do you see the patrons here?ā
((short pause as she looks around))
āDonāt you see? You are simply dressed too elegantly for a place like this. No, you, my dear, are definitely not the type that belongs amongst these fiends. You belong uptown. Not here, amongst the dregs of society like us. Your mannerisms are too graceful, you walk with pride and your chin up ā this is not the body language of one of my people.ā
((pause))
āWell, I happen to own this establishment, Never Land, so I am rather familiar with the likes of the people who tend to come through its doors, and I have never seen you before. You seem quite unforgettable. Could I have the pleasure of having your name?ā
((pause))
āWendyā¦ What a lovely name for such a lovely woman. Well, Wendy, darling ā my name is Killian. My friends call me Hook.ā
((pause))
āSo many questions! What an inquisitive slip of a thing you are. Perhaps, we could talk over a drink?ā
((*VA snaps fingers* Bartender Tinkerbell approaches immediately and waits)) ((ListeneWendy begins to decline))
āDonāt fret, darling. Itās just a drink. Should you find yourself not interested in our conversation or in me, you are more than welcome to leave and go back uptown to the *safe* areas of the city, where the likes of people like me and my ilk will be of no bother to you ever again. But should I pique your interest, perhaps allow me the grace of your presence again in the future.ā
((pause))
āJust one drink. And nothing more.ā
((ListeneWendy accepts))
āDelightful! Tink, if you could get us another round. One of whatever the lady was drinking, and my usual.ā
((short pause as he takes her in before sighing and leaning in closer to speak to her))
āDarling, do tell me, why have you wandered into the seedy underbelly of our city? What is it exactly that you are searching for? Mystery? Intrigue?"
((whispers // into her ear))
"...*Danger*?ā
((VA leans back and there is a sly curling of his lips into a crooked smile))
āMm, that blush really does make me think that you truly are as innocent as I originally thought, Darling. Albeit, I am sure you knew what kind of danger you could get into coming to a place like this. You may be looking for danger, but it seems danger has found you instead.ā
((pause))
āOh, yes, danger. There is plenty of danger here. However, it seems like thatās something you seem to be searching for. Should I inquire as to āā
((VA leans in once more))
āWhat *kind* of danger you are looking for? See, Darling, thatās the thing about dangerā¦ You may only want a little but you never truly know how much youāre going to get.ā
((pause))
((VA - practically whispered across her lips or ear, you imagine how close you want to get))
āAh, yes, Wendy, darling. I happen to be veryā¦ Veryā¦ Dangerous.ā
((Listener steps back))
((he gives a low chuckle))
āDo I ā¦ make you ā¦ Nervous?ā
((short pause and VA steps forward as Listener shakes her head defiantly))
āOr perhaps, I am not the kind of danger you are looking for?ā
((closer))
āDo you even *know* what you are looking for, my little lamb?ā
((dangerously close to her))
((pause))
((drinks come at this time delivered by Tink ā VA returns to less invasive persona))
"Ah, thank you, Tink. Youāve impeccable timing. Shall we? Iād love to take this to a VIP booth I prefer to sit in. It will give us a little more privacy and wonāt be as loud. Come now, pet."
((footsteps/music/whatever SFX have them move to a slightly quieter place, sit in a booth))
"Do you mind, Darling? Iād much rather be sitting next to you than across the table. That way I can hear you better. Yes, thatās it, just move in a little further."
((this gives no escape for Listener as James/Hook is between the easy exit and her ā SFX of her moving over if you want to get technical and him sitting next to her))
((pause))
āAh, *that*. The name Hookā¦ It is simply from a childhood long ago. Raised in an orphanage with many other lost boys like myself. Itās a truly heartbreaking story, Iām sure, but Iād like you to remember our first meeting in a different light. Not melancholy and deep, dark secrets. Not yet, anyway. Perhaps, if you decide to embark on a journey with me in the future, or are willing to grace me with your presence again, we can discuss it then.ā
((Listener nods, nervously))
((he leans in))
āBut you, Wendy, darling āā
((whispered // reaches out to draw a finger down her jawline as he looks from her eyes to her mouth))
āYou still havenāt answered me.ā
((pause))
āAbout what *kind* of danger you are looking forā¦ā
((pause // leaning in))
āAre you looking for something ā just a wee bit threatening? Perhaps something that will get the heart pumping momentarily?ā
((pause // leaning in))
āOr perhaps, a singular thrilling night before the sun rises and the fun is over?ā
((pause // leaning in))
āOrā¦ are you looking for something darker? Something much more dangerous. Something soul shattering that will devour you whole? Something that makes you question your moralsā¦ Your boundariesā¦ Something that will burn you to ash and will leave you begging me for more even once I break you?ā
((kisses Wendy))
āDo you know what kind of danger you want yet, darling? That last oneā¦ It is not a wise idea for a sweet little lamb like you, but I promise... Youāll love it.ā

2024.05.19 07:04 Ok_Start1379 Do you think therapy can help me (27F) and my (ex)fiancƩ (28M) repair our relationship?
My (ex)fiancƩ and I had been together for almost 6.5 years, engaged for almost 2.5. Over the last several months, my (ex)fiancƩ has sat me down to talk about our relationship about once a month. Before these conversations, he would shut down and barely speak to me for several days even when I would ask what was wrong. Then he would finally tell me he was ready to have a conversation and would express his frustrations with the relationship. By the time of our conversations, I would already be on the defensive from his recent behavior. I also generally do not receive feedback well. When he would try to tell me that he was unhappy in our relationship because I didn't compliment him enough, flirt with him enough, or tell him I loved him enough, I would shut down. I was not able to hear what he was really trying to tell me. Instead, I put up a wall and told him to love me for who I am. I basically asked him "If I'm happy in our relationship despite my frustrations, why can't you be?" I now realize that is not an appropriate or healthy response when your partner is trying to communicate with you.
I did try to hear him. I gifted him some lingerie for the first time and let him take a boudoir photo shoot of me wearing it. I started sending a few more cute messages. I tried to make more time to cuddle with him when he would ask. I tried to give him more hugs. I tried to thank him more for picking up around the house. I wrote him a cute letter and surprised him with a few gifts for Easter. However, about a month ago, we had another one of those conversations. Except this time the first things he brought up were 'wondering what else is out there' and talking about how other girls are always complimenting him. Again came the walls and extra defensiveness. I ended up writing him a letter talking about how I didn't know if I could ever be what he wanted me to be and that maybe he should think about calling things off. This was obviously a defense mechanism to try to beat him to the punch line and talk about a self-fulfilling prophecy. Three weeks later he would sit me down and tell me he wanted to know what else was out there again and that he didn't know if he could go through with marrying me. My efforts did not feel like enough for him and I understand why. I was having a hard time connecting my emotions with my actions which made my actions seem reactionary and not genuine or provoked by love.
I have been through a lot more trauma in my life than I realized. My dad was in the Navy while I was growing up. We had to move every three years. A very pivotal point in my life was when we moved when I was in the 6th grade. I lived right next door to my best friend. I was finding my love for math and theater. I also played soccer and was a Girl Scout. When we moved, I became very depressed, though I didn't understand that's what it was at the time. I stopped all of my extracurricular activities. I stopped getting too close to people because I knew I would have to move or they would have to move eventually. I mostly stayed in my room and kept to myself, even from my family. I also have struggled with anxiety for as long as I can remember. Then, in my senior year of high school, I got my first-ever boyfriend. We were in a relationship for over 4 years. In that relationship, I would always be the one to try to talk about our problems. I would be the one who would always want longer hugs and more cuddles. But it was not a healthy relationship. We broke up and got back together many times. I found several illicit texts to other girls on multiple occasions and he would always gaslight me by saying his younger brother stole his phone or I misinterpreted the messages. I think this caused me not to want to show my emotions because it wasn't reciprocated and resulted in heartache. Then, three years ago my younger brother died in a tragic car accident at the age of 17.
When I realized I could lose the love of my life, I realized that he was right about me not being affectionate enough. I had built up walls to protect myself. I thought I had made progress on my anxiety and depression, but I realized I was wrong. I also realized that I have issues with communication, trust, and vulnerability. I was a great partner in other ways and I did express my love in other ways. I moved across the country, coast to coast, with him to a state where I didn't know anyone so that he could attend his dream school. I take care of the household. I get the majority of the groceries. I do all of the cooking. I do all of the maintenance cleaning. I take care of our 2 cats and 1 dog. I say all of those in the present tense because we currently still live together but are sleeping in separate rooms. I also financially supported him by lending him money and letting him pay less of the rent because I made more money. I accept all of him including that he has terrible time management skills, he can have a hard time controlling his emotions at times, and he is disorganized and messy. I also accepted that I would have to wait for marriage and children because of his school and accepted that he did not have a lot of free time between school, work, and his hobbies. I supported his love for his hobbies by accepting his purchasing of expensive equipment even when he owed me money, traveling to watch several events that were important to him, and traveling to see him win an award from his job. I would write heartfelt cards for every holiday. I also bought him dozens of children's books about love that I wanted us to read to our children one day.
When I realized I could lose him, I felt something change inside me. It was like I could feel a hole being blown in the wall I had built up. I felt all my love for him overwhelm me. I couldn't hug him, kiss him, or tell him I love him enough. I tried to talk to him to apologize for my behavior and how badly I'd hurt him. I tried to explain how I felt like a different person and how I really wanted to work hard on improving myself as a partner to make our relationship work. I tried to prove my words with actions. I wrote a list of things I needed to work on including communication and being more affectionate. I also wrote out a list of ways to work on those things and actually started doing the things on the list. Some of the items I had already begun to do like hug and kiss him more and tell him I love him more. I also tried to ask more questions about his interests/hobbies/day. I was more vulnerable and talked with him about my feelings more. I even initiated intimacy, something I had really only done once in a blue moon when I was intoxicated. I also set up my individual therapy sessions.
Despite all of my efforts, over the next two weeks, he continued to say he did not know if he could be with me and wanted to know what else was out there. He was very wavering and said multiple times "I don't know what the right decision is." He said he could not trust that my changes would last and that it was probably too late. I begged him to try couples therapy, but he refused and said "Therapy takes too long" and basically said it wasn't worth the time. He finally broke up with me after 2 weeks of going back and forth and I was devastated. He later talked to a mutual friend of ours and changed his mind about therapy. I was so happy to hear that he had changed his mind. However, now I feel like I can't even trust him anymore. He's turning into a person I don't recognize and I don't know what he's capable of anymore. I don't know if the man I love still exists. When he told me he was now agreeable to try therapy he said "We're still broken up, but I won't talk to any other girls." and then promptly said "And it will give me more time to find a place to live if things don't work out." He deleted several Instagram posts that had photos of me after he agreed to try therapy which makes me think he's not actually that open to healing our relationship. He complained to me about how he might have to take out student loans after I told him he needed to pay me for half of the rent while we're broken up and not decreased rate he had been paying me. He also "checked on me" on the night of the 3rd year anniversary of my brother's death when he heard me crying. Then he just sat on the end of the bed scrolling his phone while I cried as if he was checking on me because he felt like he had to and not because he wanted to. When I asked him if he had some sort of deadline in mind for the therapy, because he had previously mentioned that it takes too long, he said July or August and I have a suspicion that is because a girl he likes is leaving for summer break but will be back at the end of August for the next semester.
I just feel like the way he has been acting is not how you act towards someone you were in a relationship with for almost 6.5 years. Especially after saying you still love them and have no negative feelings towards them. That means even though you don't think you are a good relationship match, you should still want to treat them with respect. You should care that they are hurting during this time. You should want to comfort them in their grief of a separate event. You should mean it if you say you want to try therapy.
TL; DR : Do you think therapy will help?

2024.05.19 06:57 HouseDrumm [Lore] The Emperor of Nothing
The God Emperor sat alone in the unimpressive keep that served as the seat of the Saltpans. His head was swimming. He sighed, there was a time when a million men gathered to hear him speak. He tossed a crudely carved stag into the hearth. It roared, but the fire said no words.
Even the flames had abandoned him. Though in a way he wasn't entirely alone. The massacred former residents of the keep lay in bloody piles throughout the large room at the top of the tower. He shook his head, freeing himself from the daze he had fallen into. Was this how far he had fallen? The Saltpans, seat of a House he couldn't even remember the name of. This is what he strove to control. No wonder the flames had left him.
R'hllor stepped over the corpse of a young boy, on his way to the window. The town surrounding the keep slept, when they awoke, they would realize they had a new lord. Or rather, a new god. It was a pitiful start, but he would regain the flames.
No matter how many had to burn.
