[Advice] How I trick my mind to staying disciplined, day after day
2024.05.22 04:12 Fit_Bee8519 [Advice] How I trick my mind to staying disciplined, day after day
You know how you get in a rut, wanting to get in shape, wanting to get better at something, just want to develop a new habit, and you tell yourself, "I'm going to workout everyday for the next month" "I'm going to do leetcode everyday" etc.? You get all hyped up, and you're super motivated, and you start crushing your goals the next day. Then a week goes by, 2 weeks, and that motivation starts to waver off, and you start skipping a day or two, and eventually it just fizzles out...
Motivation is so fickle, so emotional. It can feel so strong that you feel like it will last forever, but sooner or later, it's gone.
But your
discipline can be hacked. A few months ago, I did this fitness challenge with a few friends where we all set goals for a set amount of time (30 min at the gym, 5 times a week, for a month). And we all put down $100 and put it in a pool. Everyone kept track of their workouts, and at the end, only those who succeeded in all their checkins split the pot. While the ones who failed in the middle lost their money. So the winners actually ended up
making money.
It was incredibly motivating, the desire to not wanting to lose my $100. The original motivation for starting this challenge (wanting to get in shape) was replaced by the much more real motivation of not wanting to lose money. Money is funny that way, it's so much more real and tangible, it actually keeps you going way better than anything else.
Not to mention how fun the challenge was. We were kind of in competition with each other, trash talking and teasing to try and get the others to not work out. But at the same time it was teamwork. We genuinely wanted everyone to succeed.
Anyways, it was so effective and so fun that I ended up making an app for this. The cool thing about making this into an app is that you don't need to have an immediate group of friends with the same goal. We could create a community of people with goals, and strangers could come together online on the app and do challenges together.
The structure of the app is as follows:
- anyone can create a challenge for anything
- you set how much the buy-in ($) is, how long the challenge should last, and the check-in rules
- up to 5 people can join (small groups means better dynamics)
- everyone pays to join
- you check in daily with a photo upload according to the check-in rules set out by the leader
- chat in the private chatroom, encouraging each other
- in the end, the "survivors" split the pot - they can withdraw the money back out
Hope you find this helpful! The app is called
Goalie, you can search it on the app stores.

2024.05.22 04:05 Fit_Bee8519 Habit building requires consistency and time. Here's how I trick myself to stay consistent and not quit prematurely
They say habits are only formed if you do it consistently for a good amount of time (eg 6 weeks). The problem is, if you're like me, I find myself getting bored or demotivated before the 6 weeks and end up fizzling out midway.
Recently I tried this thing to
hack my mind to stay motivated. A few months ago, I did this fitness challenge with a few friends where we all set goals for a set amount of time (30 min at the gym, 5 times a week, for a month). 2024.05.22 00:43 pastiches Message me for $55 USD or 50€ off your Artipoppe baby carrier! All currencies <3
Hi redditors, I have 10 discount codes to share for $55USD (or equivalent in your currency - $74CAD, £44, $82AUD, 50€, 7776 yen) off your first purchase from Artipoppe. Happy to talk fit and fabrics also. I have a teething baby at the moment so you'll catch me pretty much all hours of the day, just comment or send me a chat for the link :)
Note: if you are in the US, you may save an additional $10-20 by checking out in Japanese yen. Your credit card may also charge a conversion margin and/or international transaction costs, please be aware and do your due diligence as these may outweigh the initial cost savings*. This is the "hack" that people talk about when they mention "saving you more".*

Latest Video:
TYPHOONS Minmatar Fleet Alliance is seeking both pilots and corporations who want to dive into a culture of fun loving, possibly brain damaged, rust slinging rats, who go round after round destroying a trillions of ISK every single year.
Table of Contents
Who we are
We are a collection of normal dudes and dudettes living wholesome, humor-filled lives. Our goal is to enjoy space pixels without the elitism and the bullshit. Oh, and we
love the game.
We are
frequently in the top 10 alliances of zKillboard, highlighting that we are a major content powerhouse that loves creating content across the entire game.
What we offer
- More ISK than you will ever need. Our pilots are so rich we don't even need a ship replacement program. Instant cashing out for faction warfare loyalty points, and up to 200m/hr in a T1 destroyer per character.
- More fleets than you can handle. Practically the entire game knows who we are, likely because we've shot them in the past month. No bullshit blues, blocs, or "behind the curtain" nonsense. We have fun at all costs.
- Massive logistical and industrial backbone. Supplies win wars. Maximize your time undocked, we have a team of jump freighters that move nearly 800 billion ISK every single month.
- Quality of life services. Loyalty point buyback (over 300B cashed out per month), ships on contract, and hundreds of spaceship nerds willing to help out.

2024.05.21 22:14 big_white_fishie Storylines that need to happen (part two)
Did this the other day, got some fresh ideas;
- Lauren finds out she’s pregnant with Zack’s baby. The name it Barbie or Ken. The perfect younger sibling for Dolly (and Peach)
- Kat moves into a new flat with the boys, and discovers Zoe has been living there for years, spying on the square
- Linda stops drinking but turns to something even worse; she starts selling MLM products (Avon, Scentsy, Ann Summers etc)
- The Square group chat gets hacked. Screenshots from other (bitchier) group chats are sent into the Square group chat. It’s Jane behind it all!
- Christian and Syed return. They’re super happy. Nothing will break them up. (I’m serious about this. Someone let a gay couple remain happy!!!)
- Nish is dying? Oh no! He opens a cute little cake shop. He’s trying to redeem himself (doesn’t work)
- Harvey doesn’t cheat on Jean. In fact, the woman he makes friends with is a horse breeder. Jean and Harvey start horse riding lessons.
- Grant comes back, marries Kat. Says it’s revenge for Phil eventually marrying Sharon. Turns out he never quite forgave him.
- Instead of getting buff, Nugget gets really fat. Jack also gets fat (because of all the takeaways) and they start a running group together.
- Stacey adopts a cat, who turns out to have rabies. Rabies cat infects all the animals of the square. Rocky’s bird doesn’t survive.

2024.05.21 21:58 Impressive_Dinner137 Father in law gets scammed in crypto
Hi all,
my father-in-law was the victim of a typical crypto scam. He is over 60 and started looking around on crypto portals and of course left personal contact information there. It didn't take long and a friendly guy, german speaking, got in touch and convinced him via telegram of a top investment in crypto. he transferred € 200. Everything went wonderfully and the 200 € were suddenly 400 € on his account (on a webapplication with no terms of use or anything professional).
you can probably guess the rest. over time, my father-in-law became so motivated that he even transferred over €25,000 in total.
Yesterday he told us about how good everything is going and we immediately realized what was going on.
After we told him, he tried to have a small amount withdrawed from his account. I told him to start with a small amount and let the scammers believe that he still trusts them. Very surprisingly, there are now problems with the payout. Of the €3000 requested, €500 have now been transferred. Well, at least a bit, but it's clear that this is just to build trust.
We have already been to the police and filed a complaint, they have all the necessary information but my hopes are very low that the fraudsters will be caught. they speak the same language as us (German) but are probably based abroad (according to them in Austria).
As already mentioned, the scammers still believe that my father-in-law trusts them. We have their phone numbers and bank accounts and he is in contact with them by chat and phone call.
Now the reason why I am turning to this community. Since I have little faith in the success of the police, I would like to try it myself. Since the scammers still trust him, I thought it could likely be that they would open a link from my father-in-law (with a corresponding story). If this link would be able to track his position, or even better to hack his camera, I'm hoping to threaten the scammers that if they don't transfer the money back, his identity will be handed over to the police etc. and generally scare them. I'm a software developer myself, but I really have no idea about cybersecurity.
What would you guys recommend? Are there any (really trusted) hacker portals I can try to find someone who could help me? How much effort does it take to program such a script/virus, is an advanced developer with 5 years experience in languages like R, Java able to develop something like this with existing help platforms/tools? What do you think generally about this idea?
I am grateful for any tips!
