‘Flair Airlines' Broken Promises on Compensation Approvals

2024.04.29 19:26 Customer-awareness ‘Flair Airlines' Broken Promises on Compensation Approvals

I'm reaching out to share an ongoing struggle that encapsulates every traveler's worst nightmare—a journey mired in delays, not of flights, but of promised compensations from Flair Airlines.
On February 12, 2024, I encountered significant travel disruptions. Following due process, I submitted my compensation requests on the same day, and on February 23, my claims were officially approved US925H. The total compensation due to me was $1,000.00 CAD.
Here's where the plot thickens and takes a dive into the realm of absurdity:
Upon contacting them in March, I was reassured I would receive my compensation within the 30 days following the approval. When this did not materialize, I was placated with promises that I need not worry, for I would surely have it by no later than April 7. Yet, this deadline breezed by with no resolution, and I was informed of "technical issues" and that it would be resolved "ASAP." In a further turn, I was then told on April 8 that my compensation had not even been processed, and I should expect it within another 30 days.
Their latest correspondence, a note from a representative named Harshitha, was a polite but hollow acknowledgment of a "backlog of payments." It included a vague assurance of being added to a "tracking worksheet" with an indefinite timeline for the actual transfer of funds.
This protracted saga reflects not only a failure on behalf of Flair Airlines to deliver on their promises but a glaring display of how easily words can be used as a smokescreen for inaction. It seems their assurances are nothing more than placeholders, meant to pacify rather than to resolve.
The stark reality is that the laws in Canada that are supposed to protect passengers like me are only as strong as the airlines' will to abide by them. Flair Airlines' continuous dance around the truth with contradictory and misleading information is more than just poor customer service—it is a blatant disregard for the very passengers who entrust them with their time, money, and plans.
So here I am, echoing the sentiments of countless passengers who have been left in the lurch, expressing a plea that transcends my individual case. Flair Airlines, it is imperative that you confront these shortcomings and honor your commitments. It is not merely about the funds—it's about respect, trust, and the principle that an airline's word should be as reliable as the aircraft they fly.
This is beyond inconvenience; it is about rectifying a wrong and upholding a standard of service that passengers deserve.
What would u do ? Aside from filing with passenger protection ……. That doesn’t seem to scare them into accountability. Let’s make noise if you have a similar experience share ! And repost on every social media platform tagging them in it all ! They need to stop letting them get away with it !!! We are stronger in numbers and I know I’m one of many.

2024.04.23 01:39 Automatic-Idea-6600 From begging SP to rockstar girlfriend!

Hey guys I've posted in this sub a few times before but took a really long break because I was struggling a lot with circumstances and mental health and was just really overwhelmed with all the content on here.
I figured I was doing OK just knowing about the law and trying to stay positive about things but in the past few months the 3D really started spiraling badly, I lost all of my friends, I was extremely depressed, and my relationship with my family was only getting worse. I started having panic attacks every day and i was so lost.
Worst of all the relationship between me and my SP had deteriorated into something really gross and upsetting. He started treating me really poorly, lying, avoiding me and even pushed me to the floor once.
But as you can see from the flair this is a success story! About 1 month ago I realized how bad my mental has gotten and decided it was time to fix things. And after avoiding the law for over a year it was suddenly so easy and clear!!
I started with a self care day, but not in the like shower and nails and facial way, I gave myself one day where I did a bunch of dbt worksheets, crying, listening to sad music, and just letting everything out. I comforted myself and validated my feelings without blaming myself or reinforcing any negative thoughts.
After that I went to bed and let myself wake up knowing it was a new day and my thoughts almost immediately started to conform. I genuinely just started living my life like everything was perfect, I felt a little delusional at first but I didn't feel anxious or like it was impossible. And obviously the 3D still existed and I still had problems and bad and scary and triggering moments, and I didn't ignore them or anything, I let myself get sad or disappointed and then told myself it would all work out. I just stopped letting myself accept my bad circumstances and beliefs so easily. I took every upsetting moment as just a sad moment to feel bad that didn't need to mean that the future was going to be this too. Within days I was seeing movement!
Within 2 or 3 days a house plant that I cared a lot about that was dying started to come back to life without me doing anything different.
within a week my skin completely cleared up from my depression acne. My mom and I stopped arguing so much. My grades were improving. My job started scheduling me more. People that I haven't heard from in years reached out to me out of nowhere.
and then there's the MAJOR plot line of the month
There was a music festival I wanted to go to but tickets were getting way too expensive and getting more expensive everyday but I just started living my life like I already had tickets, I was planning my outfits and my ride and just not worrying about how the tickets would get to me. Within a few days of starting to think like that I got 2 tickets for about half price. After this I started to follow some of the artists that were gonna be playing the festival just to stay updated on everything.
Around that same time my SP was starting to become the most stressful thing in my life. I was getting absurdly stressed about him all the time and crying every time I saw him. At one point I got on my knees and begged him not to leave me.
It really hit a breaking point when he told me he didn't want to see me or spend time with me at the festival. After that I realized this was the area where my self concept had barely improved at all so I started working on it, I just kept believing that we were gonna be ok and stopped letting him walk all over me just to save our relationship. I stopped begging so desperately for him to put in effort and stop avoiding and lying and being mean to me. I stopped letting him be the only important person in my life. And this was where it started to get really crazy, within the same day, one of the artists who's playing this major festival messages me tells me he recognizes me from somewhere (we've absolutely never met)and we strike up a conversation.
Over the last month or so we've been talking regularly and started flirting. it's been straight out of fan-fiction, he's an incredible artist who I have been casually listening to for over a year and I love his music and he's so nice.
After like 3 weeks of talking he tells me he's gonna upgrade my two regular tickets to vip and now I have a kinda famous music artist flirting with me, two vip tickets that I paid 1/5thprice for and an invite to meet some of the bands side stage with him.
I still love my SP and want our relationship to get better but for now I'm about to be dating a rockstar. So I don't really mind not going to the festival with him. And more importantly I'm not worried about it.
There's still a lot of stuff I'm going through and I'm still stressed and not happy all the time but only a month ago I was depressed lonely, anxious, and pathetically begging for someone's care.
You can start moving in the other direction overnight you guys. It's just a matter of being in the moment.

2024.04.15 03:50 Pterosauras [General Maths] Does anyone have a list of what graph to use when

I cannot find anything on the internet that shows me this, Not even edrolo. I just need a simple list that tells me which graph to use when. In my sac im likely going to be asked to justify why I chose a specific graph over another.

Maybe for bivariate it would be useful if you could provide something that is sorted nu categorical/categorical, numerical/numerical, numerical/categorical, and within each I need to know which type of graph to use.

For example, for numerical/categorical data I could use either a parallel box plot, parallel dot plot or a two-way stem and leaf plot. I need to know why I chose a parallel box plot over a two-way stem and leaf plot or a parallel dot plot. (The justification could be that a parallel dot plots and two-way stem leaf plot and parallel box plot can only be used for 2 categorical variables, whereas a box plot can be used for more than 2 categorical variables)
I need a list if anyone has one, for both univariate and bivariate graph types. This will be extremely useful because the books don't show this clearly.

2024.04.10 15:33 DIYRUSS How to calculate optimum draw down strategy programatically?

I've recently started planning for FIRE and as a data person i wanted to plot out my accumulation and drawn down phases in Excel. Inevitably this got pretty complex pretty quickly so i started balancing excel formula and scripting (VBA) to populate the year by year table based on changing input parameters.
here's a quick screenshot of some of the input and output values.
https://preview.redd.it/9im1s7jvkntc1.png?width=1892&format=png&auto=webp&s=af3bd026fea981138643c1e6d65db801bb05d4eb
Below is the code I’ve got so far for populating pension and ISA values which works fine for 1 person. However, I'm getting stuck when attempting to build in the second person who can have all their own input values.
What I’m looking to do is calculate the "optimum" draw down strategy for each year depending on available funds, ages, pension access ages etc. it's getting very complex for my little brain.
Has anyone had any success in doing something similar, or can offer any advice in turning this into a 2 person sub function. Thoughts on completely different approaches also gratefully received.
*EDIT* by optimal i mean tax optimisation.

2024.03.28 06:08 EasyLittlePlants For anyone who's still in school

For anyone who's still in school: I've got anxiety, ADHD, depression, the whole nine yards. I started off RIDICULOUSLY shy. I'm 22 now. This is how I coped with school.
Towards the end of highschool, I started to say that I was doing things "for the plot". I focused on keeping life interesting, while probably making a bit of a fool out of myself. That's where all the craziness comes from. People aren't meant to sit at desks all day, filling out worksheets. We have to create our own plots to avoid being totally overcome by depression. I view the drama and chaos of life like it's a sitcom or drama on TV. I use it as inspiration for my writing, and it gives me good stories to tell. It's entertaining, at least.
To get through this, you'll have to create things that you can care about. School is a waiting room, so bring something to keep you entertained. Dive deep into whatever hobby sparks your curiosity. Incorporate your interests into your projects whenever possible. Explore your style. Think about what you like to do and what you value. Explore yourself as much as possible. Fantasize about ubrealisticly optimistic futures for yourself and try all sorts of things. Figure out, slowly, who you are and what you want. This will be incredibly useful for your happiness and your life in general.
Enjoy the drama of school, the crushes and rejections, and realize it's all just more stories for you to tell later. Let yourself feel everything, all the ups and downs. Let yourself cry and don't be ashamed of all the awkwardness and pain of growing up. Don't be afraid to live life and to get turned down. I got rejected a billion times, but now I'm cute as hell and in a happy relationship. You get through it all and you learn a lot about yourself if you keep your mind open to it.
Don't worry about being impressive. It's exhausting and not worthwhile. Don't worry about having tons of friends. Find one or two kind people and get close to them. Realize that everyone is a human being with their own lives and struggles that lead them to act the way that they do. Enjoy the eccentricity of it all and try not to antagonize anyone. We all just want attention and love.
Pick a few easy conversation topics and use them with new people. Don't be afraid to Google things like "how to make friends". That kind of stuff actually helps a lot.
You'll have times when it's awful and you'll wanna die. You'll have times when you're bored out of your mind, but try your best to create those small moments of joy. Give yourself things to care about and things to look forward to. It sucks, it's broken, it's pointless busywork, but you'll get through this, ok?

Inaccurate Box Plot
Hi everyone, for my data analytics class, I’m required to analyze a dataset. I’m analyzing a dataset on a lego set’s number of bricks used for each set. I’m required to create a box plot, but it doesn’t look right.
Attached is the link to the worksheet. I am comparing the number of pieces used in sets throughout the years. Any help is appreciated. I can also provide the link of the worksheet if needed.

2024.03.23 08:36 calkayne Kyoshi Era Story Suggestions pt. 2

(First time GM btw...)
So I had a session 0 with my group and we decided that they were going to: - Defeat a BBEG - Learn a secret hidden by BBEG - Stole a valuable item from a BBEG - We saved or rescued an ally from BBEG But I need help coming up with actual plot (my group isn't really interested in input and kinda just wanna see how it plays out...)
So, the initial hook of the story is that between a few years before Yun was declared the Avatar and the events of the campaign (~10 years) a series of disappearances have occurred mostly within the Earth Kingdom, and the number of disappearances have increased leading up to "present". The party are all in attendance for a treaty being signed by Avatar Yun and [insert something here], when suddenly, those that were missing have appeared once more.
Now, one of my players picked this secret out of some other choices because it could lead to interactions with the Spirit World, which would be a cool idea since the actions of the previous Avatar canonically has led to some serious beef between the 2 worlds.
According to the wiki:
"During Kyoshi's life, many of the few remaining spirits in the physical world wished to return to the Spirit World, with their homes being harassed by daofei, as well as due to the long-term consequences of Kuruk taking action against dark spirits"
I could do some encounters similar to the anime Mushishi since not all spirits are malevolent. Was also thinking that the BBEG could be trying to use spirits for their own benefit and manipulating some spirits? Not sure who/what kind of person would be a good BBEG though. 2/3 of the players are outlaws and 2/3 are former military, one is a water bender from Agna Qel'a, one is an earth bender from the Foggy Swamp, and the last one is a fire bender either from Ember City or Fire Fountain City, idr. I do know that the players would like to encounter pirates and befriend/become some.
Also, what does scope mean on the Campaign Creation Worksheet? and Group Focus Details....?

2024.03.22 17:57 lowsugaravocado Finished my degree in under 6 months at WGU!

IMPORTANT: I've gotten few comments/PMs about this even though it is the first thing I say in my write up but IT TOOK ME LONGER THAN 6 MONTHS TO GET THE DEGREE. With prep review, pre-study, and real life, it took me about 3-4 equivalent years (and about that much IRL) when compared to how much an average student would spend a day studying. This is a reflection on how I was able to save money doing what I did, NOT HOW TO CHEAT THE SYSTEM or how to rush to get a degree and not learn anything.

Original Post:
Proof: https://imgur.com/a/GuFSPMF
Hey guys! Just finished my degree and wanted to write a quick review/guide/tips and tricks/reflection of sorts.
Just a note: I was enrolled at WGU for one semester i.e. a 6 month term, but it took me longer than 6 months real time to from start to finish for the degree due to pre-studying. Also please note that I eventually dedicated a full time schedule to school to make sure I finished. I strongly recommend you let the material at WGU as well as supplemental learning materials marinade and apply it in ways that are conductive to actual learning rather than just degree completion. I felt I did manage that in my time, but given another 6 months I could've done even more. I was privileged to be able to dedicate a certain amount of time per day/week. If you are not able to, I would read this or anything else in the "get it done fast" category with a grain of salt. Anyways, I hope this writeup helps someone!
To start, what initially helped me plot out my plan was watching Josh Makador's speedrun video on YouTube. He did it in two months by pre-studying everything. I didn't do this because I wanted to be enrolled ASAP for mentality's sake. I also didn't want to have to retain a bunch of information and figured anything under 6 months is equivalent to anything up to 6 months.
The first thing I did, even before I started at WGU, was go through Khan Academy for math. Khan Academy was essential for brushing up on all math in preparation for Calc I, which was the only prerequisite that really stood in my way to entering WGU. I literally started from Pre-K math and counted apples but obviously you don't need to do that.
The second thing was completing CS50. CS50 is Harvard's first semester of CS and honestly, including WGU, was probably the most pivotal piece of education I received. Through CS50, I developed a very sound basic understanding of programming and essential building blocks that I will use forever. Most importantly, it also reaffirmed to me that I enjoyed coding and that I would enjoy earning a BSCS.
I also did University of Helsinki's mooc.fi free online Java I and II courses. These courses were a blast and I strongly believe that all online education (at least for CS) should be structured in the way that this was.
After all the pre-program prep fun, I finally enrolled at WGU. But I only enrolled as a prospective student, meaning I had not paid yet and only had access to an enrollment counselor. What this allowed me to do was to submit my initial transcript which contained all my previous college credits. Mostly just gen ed stuff from over the years. They returned an evaluation report which identified which classes I needed to complete my program. So I created an excel spreadsheet, typed down all the WGU classes for the BSCS per their website, crossed out classes I received credit for, pulled up their transfer guide, and color coded where I would take all of my remaining transfer classes.
For transfer classes, I did them all at either Study.com or Sophia.org. SDC and Sophia were pretty easy and some of the classes are honestly a joke. I blazed through them as quickly as possible and only went into detail on the classes that really interested me or that I felt were important. But honestly after Khan, CS50, and mooc, there wasn't really anything substantial in these courses. Other than Calc I which was a MONSTER for me.
Going the SDC/Sophia route is also way cheaper than taking the classes at WGU. There are guides on Reddit on how to do this the most efficient way time-wise but I just took classes one at a time in whatever order I felt. Your enrollment counselor may pressure you to submit your transcripts by a certain time or whatever so you can start WGU. Ignore them; finish all your credits at your own pace and then transfer them in. You can actually transfer in as many times as you want and they kind of just have to wait around until you're ready.
After making sure all the remaining classes I had left for the degree were WGU exclusive classes (via the degree plan on their website), I did my actual enrollment. This is where I paid the tuition. After everything was squared away, it was off to the races. Below is each class I took at WGU (in order but not always one at a time) and my brief opinion/experiences. Specific class guides on Reddit, YouTube videos, Google, and the almighty ChatGPT were my best friends. Be careful with ChatGPT; it can be wrong and can also rob you of your learning experience. Use it as a reference or if you're really stuck/can't make sense of documentation. Or use it to cheat, whatever, we're probably headed down a path of ChatGPT assisted living anyway.
Orientation ORA1 - It's orientation.
Version Control D197 - Watching the provided course material videos were ok, until they became brain mush. The PA (Performance Assessment aka a project) will actually teach you how to use Git if you, like me, prefer to learn by doing. I would say learn the basics of Git however you want and then do the PA. This class shouldn't take long at all.
Scripting and Programming Applications C867 - I found the ZyBook to be a slog, so I watched CodeWithMosh's C++ videos in order to make it through this class. YouTube would also work just as well. I still remembered how to work with pointers and memory from CS50 at the time so the PA was another quick finish.
Business of IT Applications D336 - Fuckkkkk this class. I used Jason Dion's videos and downloaded the quiz app. I watched the videos all the way through once to get a grasp on things, and then re-watched it per section and did the app questions for each section, as well as the entire thing at the end of each day. Did that for like a week. Eventually, I realized I understood very little of what the concepts where but has just word-associated my way through the certification exam. Took me about a week. Was not a fun week.
Java Fundamentals D286 - This class is an OA (Objective Assessment aka an exam). CS50 and mooc made this class a breeze. I am pretty sure I just took the practice exam, found that I did really well, and just went for the actual OA.
Java Frameworks D287 - This was the first class where I felt it took me beyond my CS50/mooc roots, coding wise. Spring is a framework that isn't really covered in any introductory materials (rightfully so), so this class really challenged me to engage my learning brain muscles. I watched the provided Udemy videos until it became brain mush, and then moved onto working on the PA with Reddit guides open for help. All in all, it wasn't too bad and was def challenging in a fun way. Spring framework and Restful APIs seem way too important for the lackluster material provided by this class, however. If you decide to just breeze past this course, I highly recommend picking up Spring/Rest in your own time.
Back-End Programming D288 - PA description for this class sucked. I was only able to get through this class with multiple Reddit guides open simultaneously and appointments with my course instructor. Took me a while because I was stuck and had to wait for my appointment. He helped me fix it in like 5 minutes lol. Also an important class conceptually. Another one I would recommend revisiting the concepts in your own time if you're speed running things.
Linux Foundations D281 - Certification exam class. I read the Reddit recommended materials and watched the recommended YouTube playlist(s), studied the flashcards, memorized the stuff, took the exam. Not fun.
Discrete Mathematics I C959 - This class was rough for me but is a very important one. I used a Reddit guide and watched the recommended videos, with a tiny bit of ZyBook here and there. I also really studied the practice OA; not the actual questions but the concepts. It's math - you gotta have solid fundamentals and just let the concepts "click".
Software Design and Quality Assurance D480 - The 2 PAs are literally the "word count requirement" meme. I feel like I had to stretch one paragraph into two papers. Not all that bad ultimately, but just a slog to get through. Not very engaging.
Advanced Java D387 - The PA was not too bad; used a Reddit guide and just fumbled around for a bit until things worked (as is with coding a lot of times). Not a lot of discussions/resources out there for the course at the time I was making my way through, but the coding itself isn't too complex.
Operating Systems for Programmers C191 - Fuckkkkkk this class. I ended up skimming the entire ZyBook, studied flashcards, then read the entire Zybook again but actually read it, then studied MORE flashcards, all just to pass right on the dot for the OA. The actual OA was way different than the practice OA and included many "choose 2 from 5" questions. YMMV but I did not enjoy this class at all and am not sure I learned anything.
Discrete Mathematics II C960 - Funny enough this was way easier than DM1. Not as many sections and they are not as dense. Sections were also more "fun" (at least they were for me). I read the ZyBook and watched the supplemental videos, then watched YouTube videos and did the supplemental worksheets. Did the practice OA a couple times until I passed and felt good, then went for the actual OA. Calculator died 5 min before the exam (didn't need it anyway) and my dry erase marker dried up halfway through. Took me all 2.5 hours but I passed by a decent margin.
Data Structures and Algorithms II C950 - Loved loved loved this PA. Possibly my favorite PA/class in the whole degree. One of those moments where I wanted to turn my PA project into an expanded program with more functionality. Good times.
Computer Science Capstone C964 - Coding the program was easy, writing the papers was a slog. Most of my time was spent on the paper. I wrote a simple command line program that used a simple machine learning algorithm. You're asked to use a ML technique not invent it, so the real challenge is to expand your learning beyond the course and degree.
Overall I am so happy I am done. I have dropped out of college multiple times and honestly started to believe I wasn't cut out for higher education. So to be able to complete this degree on my own time but within a relatively quick timeline was an incredible feeling. Woot woot!

Season summary:
Chapter 1: "The New Leaders Around"
In the vast expanse of Mt. Faraway, anticipation hung thick in the air as fourteen strangers embarked on a chopper for an adventure of a lifetime. As the chopper touched down, the arrival of another helicopter carrying four additional players added to the intrigue. Among the newcomers were Marlene and Sage-Rage, long-standing adversaries from Oddity Type, and Wormy and Ecolie, bitter rivals from Fantasy Strait. Their presence promised a clash of old grudges and the challenge of forging new alliances. But the surprises didn't end there. The contestants learned of a game-changing twist: eliminated players would have a shot at redemption. Sent to Redemption Island, they would await the next ousted player for a chance to battle for reentry. The stakes were higher than ever, with the winner securing a lifeline back into the competition.
As the tribes settled into their camps, dynamics began to shift. Relationships blossomed amidst a backdrop of both camaraderie and tension. At the first Immunity Challenge, Yvy tribe, led by Ecolie and Wormy, clinched victory, securing their safety for the time being. However, conflict brewed at the Orun camp as Suki vented her frustration over their loss, sparking a heated confrontation with Marlene. Meanwhile, Espurr's skill in fire-making impressed her tribe mates, while alliances began to form, with Sage-Rage plotting alongside Espurr and Vitus. While strategizing, Keaton eyed Bubutoh as a target, redirecting attention toward the enigmatic player. Vitus initially targeted Hikōki but shifted focus upon discovering Bubutoh's plans against them, leading to a decisive vote against Bubutoh at the tribal council. Across Yvy Tribe, Wormy forged alliances with Erin, who she got surprisingly close, Lorne, and Rhodes, countering Quayle's suggestion to oust the returnees. Wormy's impassioned defense of their second chance resonated, solidifying his position as a leader within the tribe. In a tense tribal council, Bubutoh's torch was snuffed out in a 7-2 vote against Hikōki, leaving Parsley as his sole supporter.

Chapter 2: "Owning The Vote"
Immediately after his elimination at the Orun tribe, Bubutoh found himself stranded on Redemption Island, stunned by the unraveling of his plans against Vitus. Meanwhile, back at Orun, Marlene's struggles to forge alliances brewed discontent among tribe members. Over at the Yvy tribe, Wormy's attempts at social integration faltered, but she found solace in her alliance with Erin, a formidable social player. Ecolie adopted a low-key strategy, flying under the radar. In the second Immunity Challenge, the Yvy tribe emerged victorious once more. At Orun, Sage-Rage sought to assert control despite their losing streak, cozying up to power player Suki. A rift formed between Vitus and Hikōki during a food-gathering mission, leading Espurr and Sage-Rage to distance themselves from Vitus due to their combative behavior. Sage-Rage, Suki, and Parsley formed a new alliance, capitalizing on Parsley's outsider status from the previous tribal council. Unaware of his dwindling support, Vitus targeted Hikōki, while Suki set her sights on Keaton, who had grown increasingly bossy. As tensions simmered at the Ivy camp, Quayle's irritating behavior sparked conflict with Blopos, while Rhodes grew disillusioned with her alliance's dynamics and chose to leave it. At the Orun tribal council, Espurr's criticism of Vitus's aggressive tendencies incited their wrath, but Suki remained steadfast in her plan to eliminate Keaton. Despite Vitus's last-ditch effort to flip the vote, Keaton was ultimately ousted in a 6-2 decision against Espurr.

Chapter 3: "Hope To Move On"
Following his blindside at Orun, Keaton arrives at Redemption Island to find Bubutoh, equally stunned by the turn of events. Keaton questions why his rival Vitus remains in the game. Meanwhile, back at Orun, Espurr's controversial actions at Tribal Council draw scrutiny from her tribemates. As the two ousted players prepare for their impending duel, they receive a note from Tree Mail, signaling the start of their showdown. Meanwhile, both tribes are instructed to send representatives to spectate the duel. Bubutoh emerges victorious in the challenge, securing his place in the game as Keaton's journey comes to an end. During the Immunity challenge, Orun secures their first victory, winning comfort items in addition to immunity. However, tensions within the tribe escalate as Suki blames Hikoki for nearly costing them the challenge, leading to a major meltdown. Espurr's attempts to comfort Suki only result in a small fight, exacerbating the situation. Meanwhile, Sage-Rage severs ties with Espurr and realigns with Vitus and Parsley, who are eager to establish a majority alliance after a shaky start. At the Yvy camp, interpersonal conflicts arise between Blopos and Erin, Blopos is comforted by Wormy. While Erin seeks to rebuild her alliance with Rhodes. Blopos rallies the tribe against Quayle, while Astrid targets Ecolie for her strategic prowess. At tribal council, Quayle becomes the target, ultimately being voted out in a 7-2 decision against Ecolie, who grapples with the failure of her strategic maneuvers.

Chapter 4: "Working Together"
Surprised by Quayle's arrival at Redemption Island, Bubutoh finds himself facing unexpected company. Meanwhile, back at the Orun camp, complex relationships intertwine, but Sage-Rage and Parsley emerge as the dominant figures, with Suki and Vitus aligning as their satellite allies. Over at Yvy, Wormy assumes control, bolstered by her strong bond with Erin. At Redemption Island, Castaways compete in a block-stacking challenge, with Quayle emerging victorious while Bubutoh falls short. The Immunity Challenge sees tribes utilizing tools from their Craftsman tool kit in a multifaceted obstacle course. Yvy clinches victory, securing immunity and a lavish barbecue feast. Back at Orun camp, Suki and Vitus reflect on their dynamics within the tribe, leading them to form a strategic duo. Espurr strives to redeem herself and rallies support against Hikōki, who retaliates by targeting her. Marlene directs her anger towards Parsley for the tribe's losses, but finds little support for his ousting. Meanwhile, at Yvy, Écolie discovers the Hidden Immunity Idol, leveraging it to strengthen her position and build trust with Wormy. At tribal council, Hikōki is voted out in a 5-2 decision against Espurr, with Marlene siding with her in the vote.

Chapter 5: "Tribal Royalty and Commoners"
Upon Hikōki's arrival at Redemption Island, a frustrated Quayle awakens to the news. At the Orun camp, Suki's discovery of the Hidden Immunity idol boosts her confidence in her ability to control the game, especially with her unbreakable bond with Vitus. Meanwhile, at Yvy, Wormy confides in Erin about Écolie possessing the tribe's idol. In the Redemption Island challenge, Quayle emerges victorious, while Hikōki's hopes are dashed as she fails to complete the puzzle in time, leading to her elimination. The Immunity Challenge sees Yvy securing their fourth win of the season, along with a bounty of coffee, tea, pastries, and more. Back at Orun, tensions rise as Parsley once again faces blame for the tribe's loss. Sage-Rage's agreement ignites a fiery confrontation with Parsley, leading to a meltdown. Marlene perceives Suki as Parsley's protector and seeks to target her, but Espurr proposes voting out Parsley instead, citing his targeting of Marlene. Vitus intervenes, warning against targeting their allies, and shifts the focus to Espurr. At Yvy, a clash between Joy and Astrid erupts, stemming from Astrid's dismissive attitude towards Joy's positivity. Lorne seizes the opportunity to target Joy, prompting Erin and Wormy to reconsider their alliance with him. At tribal council, Espurr is unanimously voted out, surprising Marlene.

Chapter 6: "The Leaf-Headed Stepchild"
Espurr's arrival at Redemption Island surprises Quayle, who had assumed she was in the majority at Orun Tribe. Meanwhile, tensions at the Orun camp escalate as Sage-Rage and Parsley's conflict remains unresolved, leaving them to begrudgingly coexist due to limited options within the tribe. In the Redemption Island challenge, Quayle secures victory once again, while Espurr falls short, unable to complete the challenge in time. At the Immunity challenge, Yvy triumphs, securing immunity and a scenic trip to Mt. Faraway along with a picnic lunch. Back at Orun camp, the tribe is surprised by Parsley's unexpected contribution to the challenge. However, Sage-Rage and Suki struggle to reach a consensus on how to handle Parsley, ultimately deciding to sever ties with him. As tensions rise, Suki and Marlene find themselves at odds, each targeting the other for elimination. Despite Parsley's belief that Sage-Rage should be the target, Marlene finds herself on the outs of the tribe, with no one willing to save her. At the Yvy tribe, Écolie continues to work on her social game, forming a bond with Rhodes and confiding in her about possessing the tribe's idol. Meanwhile, Blopos and Wormy share a heartfelt conversation about feeling out of place outside the game. Concerned about Lorne's potential as a floater, Erin suggests incorporating him into their alliance to Rhodes. At Orun tribal council, Marlene is voted out in a 4-1 decision against Parsley, marking the fifth elimination for the tribe.

Chapter 7: "The Fall Of The Smart One"
Fueled by anger and a desire for revenge, Marlene arrives at Redemption Island, ready to face her opponents. In the memory challenge, contestants must match pairs of symbols to score points. Marlene emerges victorious, while Quayle, frustrated by his inability to prove himself, exits the game. At the Immunity challenge, tribes must navigate obstacles to collect balls and shoot them into a basket. Yvy triumphs, securing immunity and a volcano-top picnic. Back to Orun camp, Suki and Vitus engage in strategic discussions until Sage-Rage's cry for help interrupts them. Parsley has collapsed and is medically evacuated from the game. Over at Yvy, Blopos delves into Rhodes' life story, seeking to understand his fellow players better. Wormy and Erin clash over aligning with Lorne, prompting Erin to reassess their alliance with Rhodes.

Chapter 8: "Respect For Big Moves"
Marlene wakes up on Redemption Island to find no new arrivals, realizing Parsley's medical evacuation has halted the competition. With the number of remaining castaways equaling the number of winners, Marlene is allowed to return to the game. A new tribe, Oyvyrun, is formed, marking the transition to the individual phase of the game. At the Immunity challenge, contestants must balance balls on wooden disks while standing on small logs. Astrid emerges victorious, securing immunity for herself. Back at camp, alliances are tested as players navigate the shift to individual gameplay. While targeting an Orun tribe member seems like the obvious choice, the Yvy tribe struggles to align. Lorne and Rhodes attempt to strategize, but disagreements prevent them from reaching a consensus. With immunity in hand, Astrid sets her sights on Écolie, aiming to make a significant move. However, discussions within the tribe lead some alliances to target Blopos, viewing him as a weak link from the Yvy tribe. Meanwhile, Rhodes discusses voting out Joy with Erin, suggesting they could secure Lorne's vote. At tribal council, Écolie, feeling paranoid about being targeted, plays her idol, nullifying four votes. Despite this, Blopos is voted out in a 5-3 decision against Joy, with the four returnees and Joy casting their votes against him.

Chapter 9: "All-In" Part I
Écolie is frustrated that she didn't have to use her idol, despite having it as a safety net. However, she's relieved that her alliance had the majority vote. Meanwhile, despite being in the minority, Suki remains confident, thanks to her possession of an idol and strong relationships with Vitus and Sage-Rage, while sensing the dysfunction within the Yvy Tribe. At the Immunity challenge, contestants must dig for a club to smash a tile, with the top six advancing to the next round where they submerge their heads in water to fill a tube by spitting into it. The top three move to the final round, solving a block puzzle, with Astrid emerging victorious once again. Back at camp, dynamics shift as Ecolie bonds with Rhodes, while Lorne and Vitus have a disagreement about their next move. Suki identifies Wormy as a potential leader in the Yvy tribe and aligns herself closely with her. Meanwhile, Astrid, emboldened by her immunity win, begins rallying votes against Joy, holding her accountable for Blopos' elimination. Despite considering other targets like Marlene and Écolie, all alliances converge on Joy. At tribal council, everyone is surprised that not only Joy is voted out, but she is unanimously voted out in a 9-1 decision against Écolie.

Chapter 9: "All-In" Part II
Back at camp, the unanimous vote surprises everyone, leaving Astrid feeling proud of her strategic prowess. However, Rhodes isn't pleased with Astrid's dominance in controlling the votes. During the Immunity challenge, contestants must hang from a bar for as long as possible, shifting to using only their legs after twenty minutes. Vitus emerges victorious, securing immunity for himself. Back at camp, Sage-Rage and Vitus discuss the opportunity to solidify alliances within the Orun tribe to target the remaining Yvy members. Rhodes initiates a campaign against Astrid, highlighting Astrid's dominance in challenges and her influential role in tribe decisions, particularly targeting Écolie. Once again, all alliances align on a single target: Astrid. At tribal council, Astrid is blindsided by the vote, shocked to find herself ousted in an 8-1 decision against Écolie. Despite her anticipation of making another big move, Astrid's game comes to an unexpected end.

Chapter 10: "Berry Wars"
The Orun tribe members, except Marlene, maintain strong bonds, while the Yvy members face internal conflicts within the merged tribe. Astrid's arrival at Redemption Island brings joy to Blopos and Joy as they eagerly await her. In the challenge, contestants must use 150 wooden tiles to construct a house of cards. Joy and Blopos secure their spots by finishing first and second, respectively, while Astrid is eliminated. At the Immunity challenge, Lorne emerges victorious, securing immunity. Back at camp, Ecolie and Sage-Rage discuss the returnees' tendency to protect each other, while Lorne and Marlene clash over the remaining berries. Vitus capitalizes on the tension between Marlene and Lorne to target Marlene, perceived as an outsider among the original Orun tribe members. Suki suggests targeting Ecolie instead, leading to conflicting opinions within the tribe. Erin observes the dynamics within the Orun tribe and proposes targeting an Orun tribe member, preferably Vitus. With numerous small alliances and conflicting strategies, the vote is chaotic, with options split between Vitus, Ecolie, and Marlene. At tribal council, anticipating chaos, Suki plays her idol on Vitus to nullify the votes against him. With four votes remaining, Marlene is voted out in a 3-1 decision against Ecolie.

Chapter 11: "A Mystery Package"
After several days with the merged tribe, new bonds form among the castaways. Erin finds herself unexpectedly closer to Écolie, while Wormy forges a strong connection with Suki. At the Redemption Island challenge, competitors aim to land their pucks in the end zone, with Blopos and Marlene securing their spots, and Joy being eliminated. In the Immunity challenge, castaways are randomly paired for a log-rolling competition, with Ecolie emerging victorious. She shares her reward of a chocolate cake with Erin and Rhodes. Meanwhile, Suki grapples with the fallout of Marlene's elimination, feeling disoriented after using her idol. Fortunately, Écolie and Wormy contemplate forming an alliance with the returnees, including Suki. The tribe alliances deliberates over the vote, torn between targeting Lorne or Vitus. During tribal council, the discovery of a mysterious box adds intrigue to the proceedings. Vitus is ultimately voted out in a 5-3 decision against Lorne, with the Yvy tribe members leading the charge. Following the vote, the box reveals a twist: a second immunity challenge and vote. In the subsequent challenge, requiring memory recall of symbols, Ecolie secures immunity once again. t tribal council, the timing constraints lead to a rushed discussion. Despite this, Lorne is blindsided in a 4-3 vote against Suki, as Wormy and Écolie opt to save her over Lorne.

Chapter 12: "Mangled Nets"
As Blopos and Marlene welcome two new players to Redemption Island, tensions rise at the camp. Suki expresses gratitude for her unexpected survival, while Erin and Rhodes fret over their exclusion from the Lorne vote. Wormy revels in her newfound power, wielding strong alliances and unbreakable relationships. In the Redemption Island challenge, the castaways engage in the first-ever four-person duel, aiming to break four tiles with a metal ball. Blopos secures victory, earning a visit from a loved one, which he decides to keep for himself. Vitus is eliminated from the game. At the immunity challenge, contestants race to assemble a staircase puzzle, with Écolie clinching her third consecutive immunity win. Back at camp, Erin's concern for her position prompts her to search for the hidden immunity idol, which she successfully finds. Meanwhile, Sage-Rage falls ill, and despite Suki's attempts to help with medicinal berries, her condition worsens. Recognizing the severity of the situation, the game doctors intervene, determining that Sage-Rage requires professional medical care. Consequently, she is evacuated from the game.

Chapter 13: "Too Close for Comfort"
No new arrivals grace Redemption Island, leaving the trio of castaways to battle it out for survival. However, their showdown is cut short as the competition is canceled due to the equal number of remaining contestants and available spots in the game. Meanwhile, at the Immunity Challenge, castaways are tasked with solving a challenging fish skeleton puzzle while hindered by having one arm tied behind their back. With determination, Suki emerges victorious, securing both immunity and a tantalizing three-course meal delivered straight to camp. She selects Wormy to share in the feast, fostering a closer bond between them as they indulge in the luxury. As the endgame approaches, tensions rise among the remaining players. Exhausted by the relentless gameplay, Erin finds herself at a crossroads, torn between loyalty to her allies and the need for strategic moves to ensure her own survival. Écolie, equally apprehensive about her position, seeks solace in a conversation with Erin, contemplating their next move. Rhodes, eager to secure her safety, attempts to sway the vote towards Écolie, citing past betrayals. However, Suki sees Erin as the target. In a pivotal moment, Wormy holds the deciding vote, torn between personal revenge for the past and strategic gameplay voting alongside his 3 players alliance with Écolie and Suki who are siming for Rhodes. Ultimately, she aligns with Erin, resulting in Écolie's blindside with a vote of 3-2 against Rhodes.

Despite facing adversity, Erin's strategic prowess has been highlighted by her recent acquisition of an idol, ensuring her survival in these critical final rounds. Rhodes, on the other hand, has flown under the radar, strategically cultivating a close friendship with Erin from the outset. This alliance has proven instrumental in guiding Rhodes to the top four, showcasing her adept gameplay and strategic acumen. Suki emerges as the lone survivor from her struggling tribe, a testament to her resilience and strategic prowess. By forging alliances and orchestrating game-changing moves, Suki has deftly positioned herself as a force to be reckoned with in the final stages of the game. Lastly, Wormy stands as the final returnee remaining, having played an aggressive social game marked by the formation of unbreakable connections and strategic alliances. Wormy's cunning gameplay has positioned her as a formidable contender for the ultimate prize. But amidst the suspense of the finale, Redemption Island looms large, where four ousted players await their chance at redemption and a shot at re-entering the game.
With so much at stake, the stage is set for a dramatic showdown to determine who will emerge victorious and claim the title of sole survivor. Who will seize the moment and etch their name in Survivor history?

Chapter Finale Part I:
Upon the desolate shores of Redemption Island, Ecolie and her fellow castaways—Blopos, Lorne, and Marlene—face a harrowing challenge for their shot at redemption. Balanced on a seesaw, they fight to keep a delicate ceramic vase from tumbling into oblivion, but one by one, they fall until only Ecolie remains standing, victorious she receives a clue to the Hidden Immunity Idol. With a flicker of doubt, she chooses to defy fate, casting the parchment into the flames, a testament to her resolve to rely on her own strength and cunning rather than luck. Returning to the game, Ecolie finds herself amidst a formidable final four, where alliances run deep and trust is scarce. At the Immunity challenge, the castaways race along a precarious balance beam, collecting numbered tiles with precision and speed. In a display of sheer determination, Ecolie emerges victorious once again, solidifying her dominance in the physical realm. As the tribe gathers, admiration for Ecolie's prowess is palpable, but strategic minds begin to churn. Ecolie seizes the opportunity to strategize with Erin, recognizing Suki as the biggest threat looming over their path to victory. At tribal council, tension mounts as Erin plays her idol for safety, but it is Suki who ultimately falls victim to the strategic machinations of the group, ousted in a decisive 4-1 vote against Rhodes, becoming the 8th member of the jury.

Chapter Finale Part II:
In the wake of her triumphant return to the game, Écolie finds herself riding a wave of newfound confidence, bolstered by the unshakeable bonds she's forged with the remaining players. As the final community challenge of the season unfolds, tension hangs thick in the air as each castaway navigates the maze with determination, driven by the prospect of securing immunity and a shot at the ultimate prize. In a surprising turn of events, it's Wormy who emerges victorious, claiming immunity and a precious opportunity to sway the jury in her favor. With a keen awareness of Écolie's formidable threat, Wormy wastes no time rallying the remaining players to her cause, advocating for Écolie's elimination to prevent her from reaching the final two once again. Amidst whispered strategizing and lingering uncertainty, the tribe gathers for the pivotal tribal council. Despite Écolie's valiant efforts to plead her case, the numbers ultimately align against her, and she is voted out in a resounding 4-1 decision against Rhodes, sealing her fate as the final member of the jury.

Final Tribal Council
As the finalists arrive to plead their case to the jury, each one presents a compelling narrative of their journey throughout the season. Erin takes the stage first, highlighting her formidable social game and the deep connections she forged with her fellow players. She emphasizes her ability to navigate the intricate web of alliances and friendships, ultimately avoiding the chopping block and earning the respect of her peers. Rhodes follows with a surprising departure from game talk, delving into her personal struggles and the journey of self-discovery she embarked upon during the game. Her heartfelt speech resonates with some jury members, stirring up emotions and leaving a lasting impact. Then it's Wormy's turn to address the jury, acknowledging the challenges she faced as a returning player with a target on her back. She emphasizes her strategic prowess and willingness to make bold moves, positioning herself as a formidable contender for the title. As the jury deliberates, it becomes clear that they are divided in their opinions, praising the finalists' social gameplay while lamenting the lack of strategic gameplay.
When the votes are tallied, a shocking 3-3-3 tie emerges, leaving everyone stunned and uncertain of what comes next. In a surprising twist, it's revealed that a fire-making challenge will determine the ultimate winner. Tensions run high as the finalists face off in a battle of skill and determination. Vitus earns third place for his bold and fearless gameplay, while Rhodes surprises everyone by claiming the second spot with her astute understanding of the game's dynamics. Winner: _____Erin_____
Co-Runner-Up: _____Rhodes______
Co-Runner-Up: _____Wormy____
Fan Favorite: _____Suki_____

My thoughts: I was really surprised by this season positively, RI is usually one of Survivor most disliked seasons and twists, but here it merged very well with the theming, the returning players were very interesting to follow in their seek for redemption, while the new players added a lot of interesting personalities. I usually prefer a more balanced season than a tribe losing all the challenges, but this time I didn't mind so much. Both tribes were interesting and had interesting dynamics despite that, and the merge was quite unpredictable. Lorne's elimination was quite iconic. I loved seeing Écolie and Wormy's relationship here, they went from enemies to friends to enemies once again. Marlene and Sage-Rage didn't interact as much, but they were nice to follow as well. I also hated the tie in the end but after a while, I realized it fit very well the season an it's dynamics, also it's something that never happened in the real show.
With the awards ceremony concluded, the focus shifts to the announcement of the next season. Excitement fills the air as it's revealed to be a One World season, promising a fresh and dynamic twist to the game. As the cast members reflect on their experiences and eagerly anticipate the new season, the reunion draws to a close, marking the end of an unforgettable chapter in the history of That Pokémon Survivor.

2024.03.18 23:13 bossassbelle I forgot that I bought an iPad and some of my other greatest hits ❤️🎉

Hello my friends. I am 30f and just diagnosed with ADHD and I am so happy. I know that is weird but I finally understand myself after struggling for so long.
I didn't know that the inattentive type existed, so I never even considered it and just thought I was goofy and ditzy (while secretly being ashamed and mortified)

Here are some of my greatest hits that I now realize were ADHD
I bolded the main parts if you need to scan

I am so excited that I was diagnosed y'all, I feel so hopeful now!!!

2024.03.14 17:37 me1125 Setting up Dynamic Line Graph

I am trying to make a graph that plots data in the region shown. The data in the plotted area is referencing the iteration tables below (as can be seen in the sample data thats been inputted). I often only have 3-5ish lines of data when using this worksheet but have the room to go up to 11 as a default. I would like the graph to only plot data that has been populated instead of the legend having lines for all the empty lines and plotting 0 for each data point. I have been messing around with dynamic graphing using the name manager but cant seem to get it to work. Any help in this would be very much appreciated!

Worksheet and Data Layout
The next issue I believe I will be facing in this is that I have an "Add iteration" button that adds another iteration table below the others and adds a line in row 20 that can pull data in the same way. When using that functionality is there a way to update my graphing range to include an additional iterations I add?

2024.03.11 04:37 tax_throwaway_935478 Rental income: is it "active participation" if I am the landlord but there is no landlording work to be done due to a chill longtime tenant?

Hi there, thanks in advance!
In summary: I am landlord of some rural property that I rent to a tenant who keeps livestock on it. I am filing my rental income using Schedule E since it is a simple cash rent deal. I am technically responsible for landlording activities like finding tenants or making repairs and improvements, but I've kept the same tenant for years and there is usually nothing to repair. I have in the past installed improvements (a fence, a water well,) but usually my total work is signing a lease and cashing a check. Should I be checking "active participation" on my Schedule E worksheet? Is the definition of active participation being responsible for landlording activities (yes, this applies to me), or actually doing a bunch of those activities (no, this usually does not apply to me)? What would the implication be of checking or not checking this box?
Messier details: The property I own is a piece of an inheritance that was broken up between several people in my family. I had previously asked a family member for advice on how I should be filing taxes for this rental income and they said that it's "simpler" if we all claim to be active participants, but years later I'm looking into it more deeply and I don't see why. I suspect they may be saying we should be checking this box because they want to be able to deduct more losses because they think taxation is evil, but that seems silly because we don't really ever have losses and don't anticipate any (unless the value of rural land crashes and we sell, I guess? How else can you lose money on a plot of land that just has cows on it? Perhaps if the fence explodes?) We are taking depreciation on some improvements but I don't think depreciation is affected by active participation, right? Is there any other reason y'all can think of why my family member thought it would be good to check this box?
I just want to know if I've been filing this wrong for years, and/or what the effects might be if I stop checking "active participation" now.
Thank you!

2024.03.07 07:23 DavidGolich Oh dadadadadada um Ohhh ddadadamamamamam aaaaa a a a a aaaaaaaaaaaaa Oh a oh a oh hey oh hey Oh eh

Getting rid of the mental obligation, trying to flow and trying to try-less. Trying to care and trying to careless, care more and care free and care about something green, blue, orange. I have a lack, a pit-pocked hat. Sorry and I'm not, quite, that - hesitating and flowing. flowing flowing blocked, blocked. temporarily suspended in an.. in an... in an... in a, digital wasteland. Feeling and not feeling and wishing I could feel something, real. The passion, something genuine, a game is a game is fun too, but what am I asides a toy - something that shatters nicely when you tap it off a shelf. I am a lost, long, lust, I am a lost, silence and capped. Corked and screwed, like a bottlecap without a hat. A hat rack. Nonsense and sense and nonce.
Gifted to the gills with air and breathe, pockets full of lint and dust and traps. Littered with gold and grime and gaps. A brain full of wants and taunts and haunts. a wonder. I wonder. I wonder... how far must I wander, I want ... but I'm afraid to say it so bluntly, so blatantly, to admit it so truthfully. I would if it worked. a three letter word. Erasure, start again start over, a new bloom, a broom to sweep away the perfume and glitter. A way under there, away from here, a route forward and nearer. so far away and closer still.
silence, give me noise, give me some chaos to breathe into inanimate clay. Mold and shape. Cry and beg - stoically I, stoically I, stoically i fall and... backwards I tread, only to start walking again. Forwards I walk, because there is nowhere else to go. I wonder where I may land and I wonder what else could be, but there I see myself plant. seed. sow. reap and grow - cutting stems, cutting leafs, trimming my soul gradually. Trying to shave off the rotten ends, so new growths may grow. New branches may sprout. From the coughing smoke, a shout and a breeze, the smell of burning oak. The smell of burning paint. The smell of... the lack of.
Again and not again, something new, out of the old abyss - stretching and crawling and clawing and grasping. Out of the darkness. Something new, again, out of the abyss. Aghast. in awe and in fright, this unwavering plight. Break and shatter and smash; profile me this, broken abyss. Profile me this; broken abyss. new music new rhythm new rhyme, anything to pass unwanted times. Moments of bliss cascade over eternities of effort and trial, trying and faltering - victims and faults, truth kindled in vaults. caustic visions of misplaced wants and flaming tires. The smell of a ... the smell of a...
Empty yet full of, hidden yet seen so truthfully, a riddle of self I cannot unravel, blinded by perspective, the mirror doesn't tell the full tale, the camera lies and I don't know where to travel. the path winds and curls and, and, and... the story always goes on. With or without a writer, the horse rides, I feel unnecessary to the plot of this story. The ego wants to be bigger than it is, wants to be useful and helpful and, and, and... this self is so selfish I want something more, than mere attention and words, something to take and to take me away from, away from, this life of normality. An escape from the stale air and familiar music, into the woods to dance with fire in the mouth of lions. Facing fear with laughter and a keen eye for snakes.
Still hesitation. My mind wanders, backwards. The scent of rose peddles. the cringe of, cliche. Why does it go there, where is the beckoning new day? A scent of lavender. New sensations and, wordplay, why does it go there, where is the dawning new moon? A scent of decay. Old feelings, arise anew, why does it go there, where does the moon and the sun finally rest together? A scent of hope. Faithful muse, where are you? I sink into these trances, seeking an escape from the routine dances, bathing in an energy of something else. Something other. Something blue, curled, frilly, the scent of apricot shampoo.
A new muse. A new moon. Where the sun rests in tune, in tandem with the moon. Where the restful sleep and the mournful cheer, when the light goes dim and anew one dawns. The repetition and difference and difference and repetition, spoiled, soiled, burnt beyond recognition. I am enflamed, immolated, and rising anew - different, but same, another repetition, seeking a partition, breaking and shattering another barrier. another boundary. another wall, breaker of silences, where are you? Breaker of nonsense, the scent of embers in fall. The sound of... the sound of... shattering glass, the mirror cracking again, this reflection is not mine to identify - this reflection in the water, this reflection in the stars. Not sense, beyond sense, beyond language and time, what there lays and lies and lies, the dishonest truth, a comfortable aside. The painful truth, a beautiful lie, the truth is.. comforting, the truth is this - a comforting lie.
Gaining and losing and wondering, why am I at all why am I at how, why am I at all, why not anyhow - this and that or that and this. Or that and this over here and that. A soft joke, a genuine smile. A kind word to cover a gross truth. Erasure. Hesitation and backwards movement, withdrawal and confine and.. walk a forward again. Prune the rotten branches and grow again. Trim the leaves, let the sun shine and feed the undergrowth. Stop here while you're ahead. Continue forth and break through the barriers ahead. Continue forward and try a little harder than before. Keep going and discover a little more. There's something ahead of this, mess of shit and mud and... erasure. Hesitation, backwards and forward again - there's something ahead of this, there is a way forward; patience and humility, honesty and adaptation.
Again onwards, Horus. The eye, the storm, the thunder before the rain. The movement before motion. this essence of essences and the process of systems, the process of ways, the ways of way of way of way. Do. Go. Forward again, backwards only to find new places to step, places with more solid ground, a path forward. Eyes of the storm, thunder of the clouds, a hidden vault somewhere beyond this outcrop of dead rocks. Somewhere beyond the sight of this current, a motive and motion, an understanding and wisdom - natural, instinctual, primal. Silence, and hesitation. The irony, and paradox, this techno-prison enslaving the enlightened primitives, reindoctrination. The natives were free and now they are educated again, back again, forwards again. Somewhere ugly, again. Forwards again... the natives were free, and then they weren't again.
Forward. Where? Lost. Here. Drink. Enlightened... nonsense. Ignorance was bliss, the knowledge complicates the truth of simplicity - the simple natures - the divine natures - the first words - the last contact with our inner natures. the last and first. Always the last and currently the first. always the first and currently the last. Always beginning and always starting, this communion with the dead. Spirits whisper and soldiers taunt. Spirits whisper and haunt. Working. beckoning. Forward they drive the living, forward they seek sustenance to sustain their legacies. Lead by the dead the living-zombies walk. Lead by the living the dead talk. Walking forward, automaton. Walking forward breaking the shell. Cracking the egg. Cracking the finger-bones to talk with the ancestors. Trance. Trance. Trance. A new sound. a new echo down the hall. a way forward, a new anew path. a new... route. Discovery abound, endless potential, but it has to stop. It has to stop somewhere.. where, where, where. Here, never. here, never. There?
No. Never there. Never here. It ends.
No. It doesn't. but it must, and it will, and something new will start and take it's place.
No. It can't, but it will and it must. Something new will carry the weight. The motion continues with or without, it guides and drives animated by spirits of doubt. It flows and it goes and it motivates the coming drought. The floods fierce and windy and wild, bestowed upon the might and grandeur of hero's abound. Unbound by chains and tied to stories, narratives and myths and legends: LET IT OUT. A new energy and a new motion guide this chain of causation, breaking free and smashing it around, the laws of karmic injustice shatter on the ground. See how I break, tell me, am I more beautiful whole or when I am in
thousands of pieces, on the ground?
Forward again, from this ugly place, apologies for the sins I am certain it had to be this way. Apologies for the certainty, the truth is doubt - I can't be sorry for everything, the truth is a comfortable... a comfortable... acquiescence. the truth is a comfortable tale of tragedy, unburdened by the weight of the storyteller, picking and choosing the feelings with the least fetters. Unburdened by the weight of fears and remorse. highlighted in contradiction. the paradox of beauty, how good it feels to cry ugly. There is no recourse, no new ways forward, there is backwards a step just to find a better footing - all is forwards, and forwards is everything. The end of it all, and the beautiful things. Ahead of us, still more tragedy. Ahead of us, joy and.. and... peace.
When is the end, of this? Not here. Never here. Never there. What to do about dying, then? This, and breaking this, and breaking through that. Talking to myself and writing without tact. Without... without... with. with. with. Writing with direction: forward. Always forward. Into the higher, from the lower, reaching upwards ever more - trying and trying and.. no. no. no. effortlessly. effortlessly. Effortless ascending. Higher and higher, it goes higher and higher. Into the beyond, beyond what was previous. Somewhere new. Somewhere better. The heroes of yore couldn't have dreamed of this reality, they couldn't have seen the glory. the rest. the test. forward, again, higher and higher. Weep, for what is to come might not be seen.
Forward. For the love and potential of the scent of lavender. For the love and potential scent of roses, and apricots. Forward, through the thickest darkness. Forward. Through blood, and burning embers. Forward. Always forward.
Even if it's destined to crumble. Forward, while you still can. Crawl, hop, walk, sprint if you can. Forward. Forward. Even if ahead of this is, despair and darkness. Forward. For the potential. Forward. Always forward. Follow this, forward, the feeling and emotion, the passion and fire. Burning. Inferno. Wrath. Deny the dying of the light, fight the despair, move - forward. Onward. There is no giving up here. there is no turning back. there is nothing but the... but the... hesitation. Erasure. Silence and humility. There is death and decay. There is life and there is warmth. Grow towards the sunlight, crawl, beg, prostrate - whatever it takes, to find a better way. Forward.
Forward - away from the decay, from the dying leaves, and broken branches. Warmth by the fire, succumbing to the day. A reason to continue, is there, just beyond the barrier. Where you're scared to reach. When you give up. Inches away, further ahead, the key. There is something ahead, big, beyond what you can imagine. There is something ahead. Deep, deeper than you can fathom. There it is, to be found, fought for, cherished, loved.
Forward. Despite everything. Forward.
For no reason other. No other reason. For no reason.. than other. Hesitation. Erasure and silence. Forward. Humility and decay. Forward. apologies and resentment. Forward... falling on deaf ears. Forward. Starving and dying of thirst... forward.
stop here. Continue elsewhere. Forward. Step back, only to find better footing. Forward. Ignorance, bliss, shame, guilt. Forward. Mocking words. Forward. unrequited affection. Forward. Doubt and uncertainty, countless tragedy... look forward. There is peace, there is bliss, there is something more after all of this. Forward.

...

No, I'm not done yet. Dead alive. Dead unalive. What a mistake, all that time ago. It's only been 3 months, only a little more. What a fuck.. up. What a clusterfuck. What a way, to ruin a life. What a way to treat years of kindness. Over in an instant. What a fuck. What a fuckup. I have beaten myself up for months, moved past and beyond and still... here. What a clusterfuck.. that.. I could have done that. Didn't realize what I had to lose. Didn't think I could lose that much. Didn't think of how much I would miss it. How easy everyone else would move past it. I thought I knew, something, truth was.. not. I knew, nadda, i gained.. nothing. I lost more than I knew I could've.
I lost friends. I feel like I lost everything I had.
I'm stepping back again. Admitting mistakes and seeing what comes of it. Trying again, despite this fear, of silence or insult. At least I can say, I am not a coward. I am.. less of a coward than I was yesterday. I am still afraid. But here I am, i guess. Hesitant. Sleepless and moving forward. What a mistake... I can't amend. I can admit, though. Justify my delusion. no.. no. Justify nothing, I was mistaken, because I thought I understood. I acted with certainty, because I thought I knew - and I knew, nothing. I know nothing now, more than before. I feel more ignorant than ever, and wiser than before because of it. I know what happened, and that it's impossible to go back now.. forward, though. I'm trying to move forward. One step back, trying to find solid ground again. I don't know where my foot is going. I admit, I don't know. This ignorance is frightening. Ping.
I'm nervous to hear the truth, I don't want to wake up and see what I've lost already. I'm anything but. Anything but. Anything but... a coward. a coward... I have been a coward. But here I am admitting mistakes. I was a fool, but now I see at least enough.. at least enough... at least, a bit, to say I made a fuck up.
Forward. Through this painful reentry, despite the potential loss. Forward. Giving up my pride and accepting I am less. I am.. so much less. Less than I have ever been. For what, to admit, what.. to strive towards, what? A clean conscience, and.. and... to make up for... to what, to please myself? to find comfort in what I've done, and try to ease the pain I caused. to say sorry. To submit to a higher power and try to find forgiveness. What a.. pathetic.. excuse.. I have become. I have fallen so much, but I am standing up again. Standing small, understanding I am.. nothing. I am so small, and I thought myself so large - because I saw so little. A fool, among genius, I thought myself one of them - ignorant, I have always been. What a... fool. a fool, a fool, foolio.
Forward. Repent and accept this, pain, carry the weight and drag it - forward. I can't imagine dying not having said, sorry. I should have sooner. A fool, fool, foolio. I wish I had something to drink, a way forward.. I wish I could stop writing now, but I need... a way forward. What's ahead, of this? what comes next? And then what happened? God I have a story, it's not unique or really worth sharing, but holy shit I have a story. Holy cow, I saw a glimpse into what was going down. Hey God, I have a story to tell. It's not the best, and it's not so profound. Hey God, I got a story. I fucked up, and this is how it went down. Fire. Gasping breathes. brands. Fire and breathes. The stage director played me like a fiddle, and I thought I was more than just an actor reading the lines. Reading between the lines. I thought I knew, more than nothing, and I was mistaken.
Forward. Readjust. readjust. Digest. Process. Move, forward. Move up. Ascend and try again, step back just to find solid footing. Forward. New barriers, break them and smash them: do I look more beautiful shattered on the ground? A smear in space and time, an ugly blotch of colour. Hesitation, silence, erasure. Back a step just to find solid ground. Forward. Sleep, soon, forward - into the dreamscape, seeking an escape, forward. Hoping this reality doesn't seep into the next, hoping for peace and a nice rest. Forward... ping.
Hoping for.. relief. Selfish relief. desiring, I don't know. Sleep. I know, I at least tried. Trying is more than some people do, I say, ignorantly. I've repeated, ignorantly.. everyone tries. Most people, probably try harder than I. I know, I know nothing, but that's a hard reality to face. This ignorance is frightening. A facade of wisdom keeps the fear away, keeps the illusion up. Mara. Mara... Mara, give me a call? Tell me I'm a fool, but at least tell me something. The silence is hard to listen too.
Forward. It's not over yet. This is over, but it isn't over. Beyond. over there, something new. Beyond all this effort. Something more. God, please, show me something I have never seen before.

2024.03.06 07:12 Nature_Boy_4x40 Looking for guidance navigating the web of diagnosis around neurodivergence.

Hi everyone,
Long post, so I’ll start with an executive summary - the TLDR:
I figured you have all been here, and might have some advice. I’m in the Mid-Atlantic US. Rural area, but within an hour of several major metros.
What comes first? We’ve been pushed to medication for ADHD as the “first step” to help her focus and learn non-medication based skills to adapt, by everyone except the psychiatrist who could prescribe it. I’m hesitant to medicate until we have a full picture, but I also question the value in a formal label/diagnosis. While I understand a diagnosis may be insightful, without any school resources riding on a diagnosis, is there even a point to a formal ASD diagnosis (or lack thereof) or is our money better spent assuming she is on the spectrum and seeking appropriate therapies to address our behavioral concerns?
Further - how do you successfully seek therapy, or even parent, a kid who refuses to acknowledge her own emotions, actively fights against any effort to help, and refuses to accept that her behaviors are detrimental or that she’s is capable of making a mistake? (Details below).
Major behavioral concerns I’d love some advice on how to address or resources/guidance:
This extends to playing - we signed her up for soccer, she didn’t get a goal the first day, so she refused to play ever again. If she gets “tagged” when playing tag, she quits. Refuses to be “it.”
Aside from the above, she’s largely a normal kindergartener. She’s on track academically, for now, though already slipping compared to her peers, she makes eye contact, is smiley, extremely articulate, and downright chatty if she’s talking about something she’s interested in. She has no apparent “flaps” and has always been on track from a physical coordination/motor skills standpoint. She likes imaginative play with kids she’s comfortable around. Generally hates any organized sport or game. She rarely tells us about her day at school - she claims “she forgets” or that she doesn’t want to talk about it. However, in public, she seems to mask fairly well, to the point that even her grandparents rejected the notion that something might be atypical until they witnessed a meltodown. She seems to reserve the worst behavior for home - which makes sense (feels safe, takes the mask off) but it makes our home life exhausting, difficult, and depressing.
I’m not sure where I’m going here - I’m at a loss on what to do next. We have tried:
-psychiatrist - met with us (daughter included) for an hour, provided us with no conclusive information, recommended against medicating at all, but suggested Intuniv, if we insisted, but wanted more sessions before he would prescribe.
So now we are stuck - Do we wait 8 months and seek further ASD diagnosis? It feels as though, if we go LOOKING for an ASD, we will find it, given how subjective the testing all seems to be. What good does a diagnosis do us? Do we treat this like ADHD first, and if so, is medicating a 5 year old prudent? Could ADHD meds potentially help address some other behaviors, or could they make things worse? Do we skip meds and an ASD evaluation and seek therapy for the behavioral issues we see? If so, what types of therapy are generally applied in situations like these? How effective are they if the child is unwilling to cooperate/participate meaningfully? None of the professionals we’ve spoken to seem to be able to plot a course for us, so wondering if you all have some advice!

2024.03.03 22:20 Heathen129 Weekly Roundup 03/03/24

Weekly Roundup 03/03/24
Three good books all by the same author. Reading them helped me actually put words to something I have been thinking for awhile. 1st Up
Nosferatu Academy 01

https://preview.redd.it/2ckpgflx96mc1.png?width=970&format=png&auto=webp&s=9efe98ec7ad544b0d09d3970cea388f4c4b2be48
Some issues I have with the story as it comes are really small stuff like.
The MC gets really comfortable really quickly with the new normal for him. It is like there are more changes then he really realizes....and yet he never questions it. It just never comes up for him and say wait a minute something is really fucking off here.
One second MC is worried about how Demonika will take it that he is banging out some chicks next he is like who cares what she wants. I am going to sling my dick like it is meth in a trailer park. It can give us whiplash. Sometimes things like embarrassment and propriety matter and sometimes they dont, yet we as the reader never know when it will. Like the social norms of the class are pretty ill defined.

Demonika is cool but I naturally like jealous girls. it is odd how she is almost...prudish for being part succubus. For being a year in the game you would think she is more comfortable with her change then the MC is with his.

Rhapsody I like a lot. She is either very in tuned with the world or totally out to space, either way she is endearing.
What I dont like is her in the harem. She does not have the emotional maturity or foundational knowdelege to give consent. For me it is the same ick factor of someone trying to bang a child or someone with a mental handicap. Like here
“What do you know about the actual logistics of sex?” I muttered, fearing the answer more with each passing moment.
“I know that sex typically requires nudity, so I am not entirely unschooled,” she offered, spinning on her heel and stopping.
She crossed her arms, mirroring my posture.
“I imagine that there isn’t much more to it. I have heard rumors that your penis is involved in some manner, but that seems improbable.”
“Why is that improbable?” I asked, smirking at her.
“I assumed the penis exists only for aesthetic purposes,” she said as we came upon a large door framed by two torches.
“Give me the key.” I handed it to her, and she inserted it inside the door and turned. With a click, the door opened on its own, and we stepped inside.
Knightley, Virgil. Nosferatu Academy (pp. 204-205). Eldritch Blade. Kindle Edition.
At this point he should have just said no. This is a bad bad look. There is a reason one does not sleep with children. That is what Rhapsody feels like. She is a child. it's the same reason I am not so much a fan of when people turn animals into women...the idea of consent just poofs.
Barrettes Interaction with Cordelia Drake also is pretty jarring. He went from treating her with respect to telling her he will stick his cock in her mouth in no time at all. No flirting no nothing just .... WTF. Now she ia a attractive Dragon Woman so we know how this goes but still...a little build up or some development would have been nice. Now she says that the gift has given him
The MC is also pretty petty even though he is supposed to be the gift to women everywhere. Like here in this scene
In seventh grade, I became the textbook example of a kid who’d taken enough abuse. During a particularly rough bout of teasing that saw me locked in my own locker for two periods, I had plenty of time to plan revenge. It’s funny—I remember trying to come up with a bunch of clever ideas, like procuring a bottle of doe piss from a sporting goods store. I was planning on tricking the bully into sitting on and breaking it so that he reeked of urine and maybe even attracted coyotes on his way home. My own impatience stopped me from doing anything that extreme, however. In the end, when he finally came back to let me out of the locker, my anger took over when I saw his self-satisfied face. I kicked him in the dick and punched him in the throat. Hard. After that, he and I saw eye to eye on most matters. In high school, when I had grown taller than him, he even regularly invited me to parties. I gladly accepted, of course. And I fucked his sister.
Knightley, Virgil. Nosferatu Academy (pp. 228-229). Eldritch Blade. Kindle Edition.
Why would you do that. It just makes the MC seem like a piece of shit. Either 1 the brother picked on you so you took it out on his sister...which why would the brother care unless he's fucking his sister as well. Or two you just used the sister maybe breaking her heart for something the brother did. Either way not a good look.

MC gets in a fight with Damien simply because ....no fucking reason. Everyone told him stay away. All Damien did was give the MC the stink Eye during the welcome ceremony. MC was the one that went over to start shit at the bar. Damien tells MC to fuck off back to his women (call them sluts) so MC physically attacks then gets his ass kicked because Damien knows how to fight. So his girls have to save him. What we see from Barret is unearned arrogance. Now yes this is his story and we are supposed to see him grow...but he has a arrogance that is not backed up by nor stems from competence. So he just seems like a asshole. Damien though has had a year of training and from what everyone says he is a asshole but he knows what he is doing.
It is also shown that he is pretty laid back by a lot of stuff.
This actually helped me realize my problem with a lot of farm authors MC's (No I am not saying Virgil Knightly is a farm author, just saying this novel he wrote helped me realize this issue in general). Besides all the smirking the MC's are super arrogant and it does not come from competence. They have nothing to be arrogant about besides being the MC of the story.
Also sometimes he seems like a overly emotional bitch. Like here
“Yes, well,” Cordelia chortled, adjusting her posture and opening up her notebook, “I’d like to ask what you learned in your visit to the library and in any studies you’ve conducted since.”
I shook my head. “No thanks.”
She blinked at me, cocking her head in confusion. The room felt very silent in those few seconds. “Care to explain?” she pressed after she was certain I was serious.
“Oh, I’ve been reading and rereading those books. I’ve learned a lot. But you tell me what you know first.” I leaned back in my own seat and scratched the back of my head with one hand while idly inspecting the nails of the other. They had grown longer, thicker, and sharper, and I was just now taking note.
“I’m afraid I don’t know that much,” she said—a lie.
“Why aren’t you telling me the truth? Dracula even instructed me to go to the Forbidden Section of the library. He didn’t seem particularly guarded about it, so why are you?”
She set the notebook down and laced her fingers together.
“Dracula has been playing games like that for centuries. He knew full well you were coming. He’d already removed the books that he didn’t want you to find long before your arrival. If you believe he didn’t expect you, a man who used to work at a library, to come looking for his archives—”
“Fine,” I said, waving my hand.
“Then we’re at a standstill on the topic for today.”
Her lips pursed in an irritated scowl for a passing moment, but then she smiled.
“Fair enough.” She wrote something down, which I didn’t attempt to discern. When she finished, she looked up at me and sighed airily.
“So—for our first session, my primary question is this: what are your goals so far?”
Knightley, Virgil. Nosferatu Academy (pp. 237-238). Eldritch Blade. Kindle Edition.
Dude lost a chance to learn about himself develop powers for what...to act like a petulant child? Seriously. Never once does this guy think that hey maybe there is a reason I am not being told whatever. Never once does he think hey let me try to work together with whatever I use what I learn and eventually they will let me know. In the mean time I garner some good will and can develop further.

At least Mako calls him out on the stupid shit. But she does everything but say I don't like you are anything baka...I mean she literally says that just not the baka part. I think even that would have been a bridge too far for our author.
Seriously I dont really know what Virgil Knightly was going for but Berry has a ego problem. I mean his ego is totally unearned, telling a girl who has the socialization of a turnip that he was going to make her his thrall and call him Daddy. It felt like him hitting a high functioning autistic. Like from what she has shows she may have academic knowledge of what she is talking about but not the emotional maturity or experience to actually understand her words or actions. Kinda like a kid who learns dirty words so uses them all the time....like how the farm authors use Fuck.
Still a good book and I am glad I read the next one.
*EDIT*
Good On u/KirkMason for calling me out on this. I do not put enough on why I liked the book and I really really should. So first and foremost the interactions of Dracula stole the show. You dont know if he is a kid at heart or seriously the source of evil and he answers...why can't he be both. As you go deeper into the story you really start to feel for the guy. He is as much a victim of circumstances out of his control as everyone else. You also get a anger at him because you feel that everyone in the story is self serving in some way except well Daminen.
This is one thing you constantly have to take your hat off to the author for. He writes his characters with such flippant personalities but they also have such depth to them most of the time. They have so many layers so to speak.
This particularly stood out with Demonika. You come to see how much she has to fight herself to stay true to Bradshaw that it kind of pisses you off that he does not bother with the same courtesy. He even talks about how he always planned a life with her in it but he still goes off to do his own thing. It gives a lot of room for growth that you hope to see in future books for both him and her.
in between though we get this

Succubus Summoner 2

I felt that this book really focused Aroura, which was not bad at all. We really expanded on whats going on with her and her motivations and I think it worked out well. We also see Samuel actually dive into what it means to be a Lust Reaper.
I have to say I am a fan of like 90% on how Samuel conducts himself. Only a few times he catches the bitch virus or does not make sense in his actions and needs the almighty protection of plot armour. Times like here
“It was a foolish thing to do, Samuel!” Ylvesnia scolded.
“Ye’ve revealed yerself! We need to get ye out of here as soon as possible before anyone comes lookin’!”
Samuel sighed as he sipped the cup of watery soup next to the campfire. Fighting had gone well into the evening, but with Ylvesnia descending on them in a flanking maneuver, the Mystuvalan forces had no choice but to withdraw. Samuel and Aurora had been difficult to contend with, especially after Samuel had stopped holding back. Still, Ylvesnia had reminded him several times during the battle that she was on a whole other level than him.
“I know,” Samuel agreed. “But you should have seen these sorcerers—it was like nothing I’ve dealt with before. And they didn’t care about hurting civilians to bring me down. Innocent people were going to die if I didn’t do something, Ylvesnia.”
The elf stared back at him momentarily before her eyes lowered to look into the fire. “Of course. Ye couldn’t turn yer back on them.”
He understood why she was conflicted. It had been her job to keep him safe and hidden, in a way, and she’d failed in doing that. Now her chief concern was to get him out of harm’s way before someone from the Justicars or the Church came looking for him. Rumors were bound to spread after what soldiers and civilians alike had seen from him that day.
“We’ll leave around midnight,” Ylvesnia said.
“That should minimize the number of people who know where we’re goin’.”
Samuel’s brows furrowed as he finished the soup and set the cup aside.
“No. I want you to help Aurora with the healing while I keep on locating the survivors.”
Ylvesnia stared at him impassively, but he could tell she took issue not just with his objection but with the tone he’d spoken to her with. He tilted his head to one side, remembering the argument between her and Ketan.
“You’re my tutor, Ylvesnia. Not my mother, not my guardian, and not my bodyguard. We’re in a war now, whether we like it or not, and some innocent people are going to die miserable and forgotten if we don’t act. If you don’t want any part of that and want to go home, I won’t hold that against you. If you can’t teach me while I’m here helping people, I understand. But I will not abandon these people to their fates because it may expose me to a little personal risk. Alright?”
“Yer desire to help is commendable, Samuel,” Ylvesnia admitted, tone of forced calm in her voice.
“But how much good will ye do for people if ye die at the hands of that seeker?”
“I don’t know, Ves,” Samuel replied with increased frustration.
“I’d say about as much as running and hiding does.”
The other people gathered around the campfire stared into it with intense focus, not wishing to get in the middle of the growing hostility between the Summoners. Ylvesnia frowned, unaccustomed to Samuel challenging her authority in such a way.
“Yer young, so ye don’t understand the bigger picture.”
“I understand just fine,” Samuel snapped, motioning to a few wounded just around the fire. More were in the medical tent, with even more arriving by the hour.
“We came here to help, so that’s what we’re going to do, regardless of what Mystuval has to say about it.”
Ylvesnia’s voice grew strained as she struggled to hold back her anger.
“I’m beginning to think yer letting yer desire to prove yerself to yer father is gettin’ the best of ye here.”
“And I’m beginning to think maybe Ketan was onto something about you,”
Samuel countered, immediately halting her objections. He’d hurt her, perhaps in ways he didn’t fully understand.
“We’re staying until our job is done. So get on board with it, or leave.”
The elf’s hands balled into fists as she stood a little straighter, her gaze locked with his silently as the fire crackling between them seemed to shift in color a little. Samuel didn’t back down, staring back at her with the full-bodied conviction of youth.
Knightley, Virgil; Hawthorne, Annabelle. Succubus Summoner 2: A High Fantasy Romance (pp. 174-176). Wet Leaf Press LLC. Kindle Edition.
This was kinda out there. Samuel has been pretty level headed throughout this until this he's now acting like a petulant little bitch. Small personal risk...they are coming to fucking kill you. If Aurora could tell him he has the only known written text by a outworlder he could probably glean that more is involved then he knows. Instead he decided to be a child. This guy in one scentence talks about how it is Ves job to teach him and protect him and the next tell her she is not his mother or guardian or bodyguard.
He also has weird lapses in memory like here
“Don’t get me wrong, the idea of protecting my people is not what bothers me,”
Samuel clarified, concerned about how his trepidation might sound.
“I was set on serving under my father upon graduation. Nobility has a duty to protect those under their charge. But if I serve, I want to do it as Samuel Eamon, not Deckard Mason. That’s assuming, of course, I’m not discovered immediately and thrown into some hole to rot until enough resources are made available to put me on trial.”
“Ye think yer gettin’ a trial?” Ylvesnia asked, a little surprised.
“Samuel, they’re not givin’ you a chance to give yer side of events. If they get you into custody, yer goin’ to die there.”
Samuel’s face screwed up at the idea. “Being a tad dramatic, don’t you think?”
Knightley, Virgil; Hawthorne, Annabelle. Succubus Summoner 2: A High Fantasy Romance (p. 201). Wet Leaf Press LLC. Kindle Edition.
Does he not remember that Aroura was supposed to murder him? What the fuck does he think changed?
In this we also established the dynamic in the relationship that Aurora is queen. She gets called out about it by Deslan in a awesome way and she get's comfortable with it quickly. I really like her growth and interactions for the most part. She does catch her case of the stupids but it is not egregious. Things like her side project of summoning actually angels and such...and she decides to hide her plan from two people that A) care about her and B) have experience and skills to do just what she is asking so could at least give her insight.
These are such minor minor nitpicks though because the rest of the story vastly makes up for those. In my review of nosferatu academy I talk about how Barrett does not have competence to back up his arrogance here we have the competence and confidence. We also see it in Master Class that when Annabelle Hawthorne and Virgil Knightly combine they can give us wonderful tales (not to say Virgil alone is not great...I find his Headpats series wonderful and Both Esoterica and Nosferatu Academy a ton of fun) with really really good MC's.

This entry really solidified Barrett Bradshaw might be the MC but Damien is the best guy. Also when the series started we are told there are not a lot of guys out of the 25 students that are in the academy...yet out of the 4 houses only House dragon has one 1 guy. The rest have like at least two or three.
Anyway the story chugs along and is well written and I feel pretty well thought out. I dont feel like Virgil is throwing stuff at a wall and seeing what sticks but I can tell its a little rougher around the edges then his other series I read.
Here we get Barrett due to his bloodline the Dark lord (not to be confused with The Duck Lord who is a whole other realm of evil) putting some responsibilities on our MC. The MC decides fuck that I am going to live how I want.
We also get some really wierd personality switches in the girls. Well Mako made sense and she was done really well I think. She is still written like a bad anime trope but it's really well done because of the tounge in cheek nature. Also the other girls call her out on her bullshit, which seems to be a theme with Virgil Knightly that I personally love. He does not handwave away when his characters do dumb shit, someone is going to call them out and say hey your being stupid.
Demonika is the one that really comes to mind. When her issue and she went ape nuts after Cordelia became the MC's thrall...it just felt odd. One she was told what was going to happen just not how it would happen. I mean Barrett said in book one that he was going to make House Dragon his harem with Cordelia as a mommy figure. Two Demonika is half succubus and the guy is already fucking everything that will spread its legs for him. You would think she would be on board.
While the MC is bitching and doing his whoe is me I have to be in charge and rule over the night we have Damien who steps up to the plate and never backs down from his duty. We also see he has honor and integrity but will still do things to promote his own goals....really I wonder if the author gave us the right MC. Even when Damiens forced betrothed Ophelia starts making goo goo eyes at the MC, do we get Damien saying no you cant take her or some other bullshit. Damien is just like nice your problem now and moves on.
We also learn a lot more about Rhapsody....but nothing we learn here made me feel any less gross for the MC being sexually active with her. I know he says that she is the least stable and most emotional of his girlfriends but again she does not have the maturity or the actual knowledge base for what they are doing.

Anyway this is what I was up to this weekend how about you guys?
