My visit with psychiatrist yesterday has helped me reach comfort in my mind with a constant anxiety of something I’m sure many are worried about and it is not right (if you can relate to this): the anxiety of your doc cutting, not changing dose and pharmacy rejecting and giving problems with controlled meds.
Both pharmacy and psychiatrist reassured me: allowed me to use 75 + 90 tabs about 1 week after 75 Valium 5mg to dose an extra tab if needed: explained I was on Valium 10mg x3 daily. So I let him know if I can try going daily with Valium 10mg twice daily I think it would be a good start with years of therapy, tapered down, and 4 years in Army as medic now out for about 1 year with fully honorable for medical retirement - I’m happy my discharge is the same as finishing my 4 year contract and did 4 years retired a few days shy of ETS (last day) date.
He gave me Valium 5mg x4 a day and said I can take it as I see fit in my day but not recommended to take all 4 at once like I’m at the dentist or something lol. Can take 3 in morning if I want, 1 at night; 2 and 2, etc.
Started me on Prazosin 1mg and stopped clonidine ER 0.1mg twice daily and took first dose at bed having the morning clonidine in me… ouch lol side effects of weakness had me miss worth and head to urgent care, but got better with time. I felt like I had an ear ache but got better on Zyrtec. So far side effects there, but the daytime effects I can see my trigger response isn’t as overdriven, so med good for daytime symptoms with PTSD too not only good for nightmares which I’ve been lacking a lot regardless. Did not wake up same time of 2:50 - 3:00am as I do like 5/7 nights in a week - great sign for me on its benefit of sleeping being me! I’m on Zoloft 50mg and plan to taper down off of because last VA psych. was only focusing on tapering me off of Valium.
Doctors who taper long term daily benzo’s with compliance AND especially patients who already tapered like myself twice with horrible quality of life: you aren’t even following WHO guidelines if that’s even a concern
Sorry to patients being hassled being on benzos long term. There’s no Suboxone of benzos as they have for opioid users choosing to quit and switch. Klonopin maybe is a similar concept with long duration; maybe Valium too with long half life understood by doctors.
Lastly, the switch from Adderall XR and IR to Zenzedi (dextroamphetamine sulfate) it’s a brand name similar to Dexedrine tablets, more dose options similar to Adderall IR. I am seeing a better amount of benefits with this: no rush sensation, no cold extremities regardless of fluid intake and running 20 - 40 miles/week. Sleeping is easier because the med wears off without the Levoamphetamine continuing to produce nasty PNS (peripheral nervous system) effects.
The pharmacy telling me the doctor choosing whatever he wants to send in, he will fill it. Even mentioning Desoxyn the pharmacist was okay with this.
I’m not used to having a doctor and pharmacy there to be there for me and do their job title. I was always in fear and seeing this 10-11 years later: it’s all fear surrounded around the system that the doctor (now influx of NP/PA especially) follow and limitations unspoken on stop them from helping; seemingly they believe the anti-med information and push stuff like gabapentin - now not so much in several states with controlled status or reporting to PDMP. System nonsense right there.
My post is long but I want anyone to know chat/message for help/support: I’ve played the game and fought for myself been on benzo/stimulant since 13-14 no problems with meds until new docs began taper-happy, extended release happy anti-fast tablet mindset: pressure lead to abuse thinking I was f-worded, but better docs helped my mind slow down abuse knowing stability with each good doc.
I’m here to help if needed: 3 year medic army clinic time helped too.

I typically do not report side effects and the efficacy of the meds I take. Amphetamine is a good medication to gain interest in things that I need to do and execute these tasks effectively.
But Vyvanse floors me and makes me emotional. I asked for it from my GP as a replacement to Adderall/XR because of the tolerance I've built.
But instead of energy and focus, my brain becomes foggy and I am slowed, or I'm just not noticing me focusing. But I feel really slow but focused. Is this normal? I am still executing tasks and doing life stuff, but I feel slower and less discombobulated.
I don't get the kick of energy like with Adderall or I could be confusing it with the jitters. I guess Vyvanse doesn't have this side effect. I guess Vyvanse cuts the hyperactivity.
I'm gonna start eating a slice of pizza and burritos to help.

Help! 10 year old verbally abusive, threatening, and terrorizing. Mom on the verge of breakdown!
10 year old verbally abusive, explosive, has tics. Mom beside herself and on the verge on a nervous breakdown.
This isn't the typical "asking for a friend" post...I really am asking for a friend. A friend I know has a 10 year old daughter, 5 year old daughter and 17 year old step son. The two girls live together with my friend and het husband (the girls' dad) and the step son lives with his mom. This friend has expressed to me over time some of the things going on with her 10 year old and I am becoming increasingly worried about my friend's well-being dealing with all this as well as what could possibly be going on with her daughter. Her daughter CONSTANTLY tells my friend to f*** off or f*** you and is angry and threatening and demeaning from sun up to sun down. The minute my friend taps her to wake up in the morning she will say "get your hands off me" or "don't touch me" and my friend occasionally get a frustrated and teary eyed with these verbal beat downs and her daughter will say "oh you're gonna cry now mom?" In a snotty tone. She'll call my friend "stupid", "dumb", and has threatened to tell her teachers if my friend tries to spank or discipline her. Yet this little girl has been kicked out of school multiple times. Yes! Kicked out!! And the classroom has had to be cleared and the cops have had to be called more than once because of her behavior. She has told her mom she's "going to kill" her and will sometimes tell her mom "why don't you just kill me". Her daughter currently takes adderall for adhd and trazadone for sleep but has been on multiple other meds off and on with the same results. She has documented every incident the school has told her about and has given the school additional information about the situation at home. And she has given her daughter's psych medication provider all the information as well and left multiple voicemails when incidents come up to let the provider know and it is hardly ever addressed, even in the next appointment. I forgot to add that my friend has said her 10 year old daughter will get very impulsive and rough with the 5 year old daughter and she is worried she's going to actually hurt her.
I am a nurse and have a little experience in Psych and I am just appalled that this poor mother has been left to sink or swim by the school and the mental health providers. And yet, next, social services will be contacted and it will be the mother who gets the finger pointed at her or it already is because I'm sure most people just see this as a parenting issue ( which we all know means we deserve as parents to suffer for...NOT). This isn't just a parenting issue from what I can see and hear about. And this poor mom is going to absolutely snap if she doesn't get someone respond to her cries for help soon. I am so fed up with the mental health manifesto in America yet here we have a mom who has all the facts and evidence laid out and people just want to point the finger and say deal with it. As a result this mom is suffering a rapid mental health decline as well and so the cycle will continue.
I have interrogated thoroughly and observed and talked to others who know her even better and her husband is not adding to the problem or modeling any of the daughters behavior by being abusive but he is a war vet who watched his buddy get blown up in the seat next to him in Iraq and he's not much help with the situation either. She said he pretty much dissociates on his phone and tunes it all out. Occasionally he'll speak up and tell the daughter she is out of line but doesn't nothing to follow up or be consistent in earning her or monitoring her behavior to and around her mom.
I also thought of PANDAS but I don't know the full extent of whether or not this child has had a recent strep infection or a latent /hidden one but she does have tics that appear and disappear very suddenly sometimes like noises or shoulder shrugging and the way she uses profanity and blares it out unprovoked sometimes, one would think she has turrets as well.
My friend needs to advocate for her daughter and get some answers and she has. But it seems like no one is pointing her in any direction. I don't know if she's been fully transparent with how bad things are but she says she has. If that's true, why is no one listening and stepping in to help this mom and daughter. I want to advocate for this friend so she can advocate for her daughter but what resources/treatments do you think might help and what direction would you go first /next with something like this.
I'm afraid someone in this family is going to snap!

So I take 20 mg adderall XR in the morning and a 10 mg ‘booster’ in the afternoon. The bottle with the booster is normally labeled “Amphetamine salts.” Recently I got my prescription refilled and the bottle says “dextroamphetanine.” The pill looks different but I assumed it’s the same thing. Now when I take the new booster at noon my heart literally feels like it’s going to pump out of my chest. I had one pill left of the old “amphetamine salts” prescription and took it, and i was fine. Why am I reacting to the new prescription differently even though it’s supposedly the same thing? Should I stop taking it?

I’ve been taking Concerta 27mg for the past week or so. I noticed I feel like I’m not there in the present moment most of the time. I can be at work and randomly think of the darkest time in my life and it messes up my concentration. Also very sloppy when it comes to focusing. More so not retaining information as well.
I feel like it’s very unpredictable. One moment I have focus, and then I go back to my intrusive thoughts which lead me to distraction again. I believe I’ll talk to my doctor next appointment about Adderall XR and if it’ll be better for me. My insurance only covers Adderall XR and Concerta.
Concerta just doesn’t give me the same feeling as when I was on Adderall XR. I feel more spacey on Concerta. Does anyone have experience with this?

Sorry in advance, I have spent the last hour googling to no avail.
Been taking vyvanse for a few years and recently switched to brand name Concerta ER, which I understand gets the "ER" from the physical preparation of the pill, whereas Vyvanse sort of uses your body's machinery to do the extending of the release. I actually like it quite a bit; it seems to be a much steadier release than Vyvanse was for me and I don't feel like a husk when it wears off at the end of the day.
I'd been on 60mg vyvanse for a while, then last month started 27mg concerta ER. Yesterday I picked up my new script for 36mg (have to do this song and dance before insurance will let me do Adderall xr am/IR PM) and took it for the first time this morning around 8am. I pooped about an hour ago and there in the bowl was the last two thirds of that 36mg pill!
Other than the new dose, nothing in my morning routine changed. Made an espresso around 945a and chased it down with my usual protein shake. What gives? I've taken an encyclopedia's worth of pills both prescribed and illicit, mine and friends, of all different classes, sizes, and shapes- and can confidently say this is the first time I have ever pooped out anything close to a full pill. Though, this is my first experience with concerta...
Tl;Dr: shit out an almost full 37mg concerta ER something like 5 hours after taking it. Haven't ever shit a pill out before, and still felt/feel the effects of the pill after the dookie. Wat do

hello! so i've recently been prescribed 15mg adderall xr, after concerta not working out for me due to not feeling any different on it. but now that im on 15mg of the adderall xr i just get incredibly tired, and only feel a little focused but i still get distracted pretty easily while doing my school work. is this normal? i've only been on it for 4 days but did this happen to anyone else? should i wait longer and see what happens or should i ask my psychiatrist for a higher dose?

I have been on 2 doses of Adderall IR.I felt it actually worked and I felt productive for maybe a week?After that I felt absolutely nothing and was in the process of finding a psychiatrist.So I found him and then he said he would help me out.After my IR medication ran out I told him I feel absolutely nothing.He told me we can try 10mg XR for a month and wouldnt up my dose.He also recommend medications holidays and has said so at every appointment ive been.He also told me if this medication isnt working I most likely don't have adhd and should look into something's up else?ive now been on the XR for about 5 days and still nothing.

This little magic guy called "Zen Zedi" is a unicorn of a ADHD medication.
It's instant release Dextroamphetamine.
Now, I've had generic dexedrine, and now name brand Zen Zedi.
I do not know why there is such a difference and it's definitely not placebo, but Zen has been a huge game changer.
I recently had it prescribed to replace my current 10mg adderall ir that I take 1 of in the early afternoon as a booster for my 50mg Vyvanse.
Now I'm not trying to hype up this Zen Zedi I got, but boy it has changed the game for me. Literally first week taking it and it's still going strong, but when I take it, it literally makes me so clear headed and just calm and peaceful, it almost like I'm taking an anti anxiety med like a Xanax. Like dude it's definitely not placebo. I can tell you that. Like it almost works better than the vyvanse itself and I love vyvanse. I don't know what it is about it, but it really just deletes my anxiety, and increases my verbal fluency and everything.
It's actually wild and I'm only taking a small dose of 7.5mg of ZZ because it's equivalent to I believe 10-20mgs of adderall. It's hands down the best complimenting adhd drug for vyvanse that I have ever taken and I'm mad it took me this long and my doctor to find it for me.
I'd definitely recommend trying it out and see if it works for you! I'm not recommending medical advice but it'd worth a shot!

I’ve never posted here before but I feel like I have a story that will resonate with you all.

I was reminded today about my days in college and how I was a much better student in college than I was in school.
Where I come from, any child who does well in school is pressured into pursuing STEM in college. Fortunately, I was never good in school (too inattentive) and my parents were not the kind to pressure me into doing anything (they tell me now, that I was never the kind to listen to anyone. Sounds familiar?).
So naturally, when I went to college, I chose courses that seemed interesting and fun to me. I chose to major in literature. In my college, you have to apply for a seat toward the end of your 2nd year (it’s a 3 year course).
The list of students who made it to the final year was released announced on a WhatsApp group. My name wasn’t on it. 30 minutes later, there was another text. It read:
“After careful consideration, we’ve decided to chosen 4 more students to sit through the course despite their poor records.

1. Some kid
2. A different kid
3. A third kid
4. OP

Please keep in mind that you all will have to work harder and improve your record moving forward.”
My grades weren’t too bad but my attendance was pretty low. So I guess it’s fair.
Now, our faculty was by far the best in the city but since they had known all the students for 2 years, their minds were set. Even us students knew where we stood with them. It’s not unfair to say that they were biased. They liked the kids that they liked and rightly so. These students were very engaged in class, always participated in conversations, wrote poetry, etc. I didn’t do any of that. While I enjoyed literature and reading and ruminating (I had moments when I genuinely believed that my introspection skills were superior to some of the best students but I’d dismiss it because if I was so good then I’d be more liked by the faculty right?), I was never able to pay attention in class. I used to be zoned on all the time. This is why my attendance was so low. I was really scared of being called out by the professors for not paying attention. Anyway, I used to score average grades in my class projects and tests. Not bad at all but not great either. However, our semester-end exams used to be held in a different college and they were graded anonymously.
When our exam results were announced, I scored the highest grades in my course (I figured this out because everyone was sharing their score on the WA group). The next day, everyone in class was talking about how the exams were so difficult and it’s so difficult to score well. One of our professors said, “Yeah, I really don’t know what happened this time. Some of the brightest students scored poorly while some of our lowest graded students did very well. It’s messed up.” And then she asked, “Who had the best score out of all of you?” I raised my hand and she said, “OH”.
I can see the humour in it now but I remember feeling humiliated back then. There was no convincing her. For her, this was an act of God. Under no circumstances could she be a human being who was biased towards charismatic people and didn’t favour those who were hard to like (totally fair, btw. I mean not entirely fair but I get it). It was all some conspiracy to her. And honestly, I had been failed by the system so many times by that point, that I believed her.
I feel really sad for that young woman who failed to succeed on most days and even when she managed to win one, those wins were invalidated.
Anyway, I thought this story belonged here. I hope it acts as a reassurance for you all. May we find the strength to believe in ourselves and let ourselves celebrate our accomplishments because they’re too far and few between.

i’ve been on and off adderall forever but after a 7 year hiatus, i’m back on. i take 20 mg xr sometimes with 10 mg ir sprinkled in if i need it. i’m noticing that more often than not, i develop a throbbing headache usually behind one of my eyes once the med starts to wear off. does this happen to anyone else?
also, i find myself having to take a benzo to sleep. any other tips for sleeping while adderall is still wearing off? my ativan is running low and my doc doesn’t want to refill but sometimes i won’t sleep if i don’t have the ativan.

Ive trained myself to rest my tongue in my lower jaw because I have an overbite and I don’t want to make it worse. But today my tongue doesn’t fit in either my upper or lower jaw. Also, the sides are very sore, like when you eat too much sour candy. It isn’t causing any difficulty breathing but i literally can’t close my teeth and it’s exacerbated my sore, dry throat.
I’ve been taking dayquill and added in naproxen when the fever stopped declining (highest has been 103.1 and won’t go lower than 101) I took a Zyrtec when it was suggested by the minute clinic that the tongue thing could be an unrelated allergy; but it hasn’t gotten any better.
I tested negative for strep, flu, and Covid.
I had an uncomplicated wisdom tooth removal 4 days ago; and have had no pain, swelling, bleeding, or sign of infection since. But I wanted to add in case that’s relevant.

so out of the blue recently I have started getting headaches on adderall which has never happened before. I've been on the same dose(20mg xr) for 3 years now and worked just fine. I suspect its has to do with caffeine intake or the fact that I started cutting recently but I just wanted to get other opinions on the topic

Went to diagnose a unit today, no cooling, everything running fine except the compressor. No shorts to ground and windings added up (1, 2 and 3 respectively) had power to compressor but nothing.
Tried a new cap and a hard start just to be sure because the run cap it had was weak, not out of specs but like 3-4%. Nothing. No low voltage issues contactor was pulling in OD fan was running but I was only getting about .2-.3 amps on the compressor common wire.
It wasn't on an internal overload and there was refrigerant there, about 200psig standing so no limit switch cutting it out.
Just going over it in my head and trying to make sure I didnt miss anything when I diagnosed it as a failed compressor. Thoughts?
Edit to add it's a Trane XR condenser, model 4TWR4036G1000A It's warranty ran out in March also lol

After that cut to black, I was taken to my own point of view, where I was in my garden, gathering worms from the soil and putting them in an empty little plastic container. I wasn’t planning on using them for fishing, though – I wasn’t even sure why I was doing that if I wasn’t even planning on using them as bait for fishing, but I decided I was “low on worms” (???) and had to stock up on a few of them.
After grabbing enough of them and storing them in the pot, I get off the ground and go into my home. I close the door and then turn up to look at the clock hung at the top of the house’s door leading from the living room into the kitchen. I noticed it’s 11:30 AM, and I haven’t made any preparations for lunch.
After getting stressed out and cursing my inattentiveness for a little bit, I suddenly take my palm off my face and look at what I’m holding in my hands, in morbid realization. I storm into the kitchen, as I had no time to waste if I wanted to eat the meal I had in mind in a timely manner. I don’t even know why I was stressing about eating lunch at exactly noon. Or why I thought eating worms was my best option at the moment. But alas.
While running towards my stove, I put the pot with the worms on top of the table and quickly light the strongest burner, and on top of it goes a pot with water that I then heavily salt. After it boils, I rip open a spaghetti packet with my bare hands and dump it all there. It has to cook for seven minutes, so I leave the stove and go back to my kitchen table. In the same little plastic container I was storing the worms, with their bits of ground and all – I crack two eggs and pour about a cup of whole milk in it. Then I throw in two generous sprinkles of salt and crack out a whole lot of black pepper. I vigorously stir it for like the whole 6 minutes I had left before the pasta was done and bam, I had my pasta sauce. After reserving about two cups of the pasta water, I drain the rest and add in my pasta sauce to the spaghetti, and mix it well.
After my exemplary mise en place and outstanding culinary technique, I wipe the sweat off my brows and look at the kitchen clock again and I see it’s 11:58 pm – A kind of satisfaction I’ve never felt before washes all over my body while I serve me a plate of some worm carbonara. I will state this again: I have no idea why I’m doing all of this or feeling these things. I can imagine myself being a worm eater, but I would never ever be a punctual person.

I should point out before starting this, my current Android phone (Nokia XR-20) is huge and heavy so increasingly I don't carry a phone with me. The last few Android updates have made it laggy and incredibly slow (40 seconds to open the camera app for a photo). My phone is largely a device to play youtube and check email/whatsapp my desktop can do most of that, lets have fun!
Day 0
The hardest part in starting is trying to figure out what you should buy, I'd gone through the drawer of old phones and none of them were really supported. When I went into PinePhone spaces asking how it is everyone responds with "it isn't ready for a daily driver" at £200 that is a bit expensive for a bit of fun, the Purism subreddit is filled with angry people so best to give that a miss. Someone blogged about buying a OnePlus 6 for Plasma Mobile and I noticed it seemed to be supported. So many bids on ebay later I get a OnePlus 6 for £40.
Day 1
The PostmarketOS instructions are really simple to follow, I first flashed the phone without a sim card in it and I noticed the Wifi connection kept dropping and you have to turn wifi off and then back on and then go into settings -> wireless and select the network for it to reconnect. This is weird and annoying.
I've now added Firefox ESR which was full desktop firefox and completely unusable, lets install the other firefox which is equally bugged. On to google where I learn I was supposed to install mobile-config-firefox and use firefox ESR. It doesn't seem to really fix anything.
Now on to installing Waydroid, selecting for copy/paste is proving to be a nightmare, waydroid keeps telling me a start script is failings when I run waydroid session start. Now I've failed at this, time to move on to putting in a sim card! Nothing is detected hrmmmm.. At this point I am wondering if there are loads of packages I've missed cause its Alpine under the hood.
The Plasma Mobile page shows loads of operating systems but the only one with OnePlus phone support is Mobian. Its pretty clear Mobian are interested in phosh, all the instructions are for phosh. The instructions aren't nearly as good but the postmarketos instructions mean I can work it out, where I discover the last 4 weekly builds of plasma mobile don't start up and nor does the 'stable' phosh. Basically the OS tries to start crashes and then restarts into crashdumper.
So back to PostmarketOS it is! This time I have a sim card in the phone and add openssh-server and install everything remotely. Waydroid seems to work, the wlan connection stays connected, firefox renders much better, etc.. I actually love the fact I can remotely manage my phone via SSH.
I notice Mobile Data doesn't work, it needs me to add APN details, that sounds like tomorrows problem.
Oh and the camera doesn't work, someone needs to reverse engineer how the firmware works.
I'm off to use Tokodon which works really nicely.
Day 2
Everything was working fine for an hour but then then Wifi disconnected and needed turning off/on and then reconnecting.
My Mobile provider APN details issue looks really simple, going into settings, Celluar Modem and unlocking lets me add a APN. Clicking it creates a non full screen popup which is pushed vertically off the screen by the keyboard so I can see what I am entering or select the next text box. Touching that seems to have reset the time has reset to 0. Fixed the timezone issue, can't figure out how to add a APN with the GUI as it is. Now the Wifi dropped.
I got Waydroid installed, from a bit of googling it seems Waydroid needs iptables and there is a iptables-legacy installing that allowed the Waydroid session to start. I then look for Google Play and realise the instructions install Vanilla Android and I want GAPPS android. Go to rerun init and the Wifi dropped.
So I got GAPPS installed and Whatsapp knows its not directly on a phone and wants to do the web app thing. I give up for now lets look at the Flatpaks which all seem to be wrappers on the web app. Whatsie won't open, WhatsApp for Desktop is ancient and won't install, ZigZag installs but every page either scrolls off screen or is shrunk to fit o screen and the contents are completely hidden. Back to Android Whatsapp, this seems to open really quickly, it forces the Android keyboard which has painful lag (the app doesn't) and I've just realised the notifications aren't forwarded on to the desktop, I have to manually check the App. This is deeply annoying but we can cope.
This actually raises a general issue in the UI, so many things keep assuming you have a large amount of horizontal space. KDE Modal dialogs in discover are the worst culprits. It would be nice if they decided below a certain width to consume the entire view and for the buttons to get larger than then are. The sudo popup is actually a great example, its clearly been modified so it consumes the full screen and resizes nicely but the text box is small and the ok/cancel buttons hard to press.

There is also a weird thing with the keyboard, some apps dynamically adjust their height when you open the keyboard, some are stuck at half screen height when you go to them. When a page compresses it doesn't include scrollbars. Again use discover for 5 minutes and you'll see what I mean.

I still can't decide if I like desktop Firefox, on my Android phone Firefox will decide to rerender and reset page contents (often on the get code from email screen) and can end up incredibly lagged out. This one doesn't suffer that at all, but the buttons are just a bit too small and the keyboard can get stuck displaying or not. It manages to be equally annoying, I tried to switch to Angelfish but it constantly has little embedded messages with yes/no buttons that are SO tiny. I can't deal with that.

So the native Plasma Mobile Apps seems quite good, but I can't find anything to play video. I pop on to Youtube and the video is stuck permenantly loading, I go to my Jellyfin server and the same things happen. I install audio tube and the same thing happens again. I can't test if the audio works because I can't get the device to play audio.
I give up, I can see its so close to being complete but I am hitting to many major issues. I am going to park things here until Plasma 6 is released because when I can do is great and I love but...

I'm 35 female, past few months I've been beyond exhausted, nauseous, dealing with extreme muscle cramps and lower legs and toes, neck pain and stiffness, went from 217 to 209 in less than a month, bone pain all over but especially in my legs. I've reduced hours at work and struggle putting in the 25-30 hours as is. I work technical support so I'm at a computer not doing physical work.

With history and current blood work results should I expect secondary hyperparathyroidism due to malabsorption and what treatment should be initiated?
I have a stat referral for an endocrinologist put on and follow up with abdominal surgeon on Friday I just have kind of lost confidence in my surgeon for not reporting my high pth levels as a consideration or mentioning anything to me about it.
