Sarma recipe bosnian

Bosnian food?

2024.05.08 06:20 BerlyH208 Bosnian food?

There used to be a Bosnian restaurant (the name escapes me) on Overland and Eagle whose stuffed cabbage tasted just like my grandma’s. They were very authentic (at least with the original owner) and sincere. I know Bo-Ex has sandwiches and such, but I’m looking for sarma, zelnik, cevapi, and burek. Are there any places that might be worth trying?

https://maminabosanskakuhinja.com/en/
I finally managed to finish a website with all my mom’s recipes and have translated them to English. It took so long cause she wanted to type it all out in Bosnian and she and my dad made all the photos. That’s why most of them really look like an older person made them lol.
Since I wanted this to be fun for me from development perspective, I wrote a couple of nodejs scripts to build all the pages as html files. I tried to have it all in a folder structure with whole bunch of index.html files. I implemented my own build, the way to insert translations, interpolation rules etc. If I wasn’t could probably become another js framework lol (like there is not enough already).
Let me know what you think

2023.12.05 21:50 soldwa Flour type 400

I have a Bosnian nut roll recipe I'd like to try and it says to use flour type 400. I'm not an advanced baker so from the little I understand is that this is a pastry flour and not all purpose. Is this correct? The recipe calls for dry yeast as well. I'm not familiar with using pastry flour with yeast. I'm wondering if it would be ok to use bread flour or all purpose flour in its place but worry about the protein content changing the texture.

My dear Balkan neighbours!
Austrian here… I’ve bought Sarma-cabbage and would like to try it out for dinner tonight. But here’s the challenge: it has to be a vegetarian version of Sarma that my Bosnian, omnivore husband approves of 😅
Any ideas?

Hearty Serbian Stuffed Cabbage Rolls
Hearty Serbian Stuffed Cabbage Rolls This Serbian Stuffed Cabbage Rolls recipe, or Sarma, is a dish that most Serbs serve for special occasions and other holidays. The recipe varies from household to household, but they all consist of a ground beef meat filling wrapped in cabbage with tomato sauce cooked over sauerkraut.
