Sinus headache medications

34 Female here
Hey everyone,
I take 10mg of Buspar 3x daily for anxiety along with 150mg of Zoloft daily for depression. Lately I have been having a lot of sinus pain and I have heard a variety of things regarding sinus medications. My psychiatrist says to absolutely not take things like sudafed or things with a decongestant, especially those beginning with the letters P and D. My PCP says that sudafed is fine and she can't find any interactions that would be dangerous. Although I know serotonin syndrome can be rare one time before I knew about the interactions I took some mucinex sinus and it made me feel very sick. Is there anything that I can take to help with sinus pressure, pain, and congestion? My psychiatrist and pcp are telling me different things.

2024.05.06 04:01 kaittenz Cough syrup reccomendations

Hello, I’m on 75 mg of bupropion HCL and currently suffering from intense allergies. I’ve been coughing, having congestion, postnasal drip, and slight sore throat.
I just learned that I shouldn’t be taking Mucinex right after I took 20 mg of it today. I should’ve done my research before taking it, but I was desperate for a cure. Idk if I’m gonna get a bad reaction or not due to my low dosage of bupropion, but I’m hoping I won’t.
Can you guys please kindly give me some cough syrup recommendations that doesn’t have any interactions with bupropion? Thank you!

2024.05.05 21:10 Alert-Ad1934 Are we allowed to take Advil on BP meds?

Hiii! I’m on amlodipine and labetalol. I’ve seen that if you have hypertension, you’re not supposed to take Advil. Does it raise your BP or interact with the meds? I have cramps and Tylenol isn’t cutting it 😅

2024.05.02 06:51 aybawse Question about 15 year old cat with kidney disease

Hey everyone,
My cat is 15 years old and has been living with stage 3/4 kidney disease for around 6 months now.
His quality of life is great - he has a good appetite, goes to the toilet normally, plays and interacts with us.
I’m curious to know everyone’s thoughts on his current treatment plan (recommended by our Vet).
He is currently taking potassium gluconate supplement daily (for low potassium), aluminium phosphate binder in his food twice daily (to reduce his phosphate intake), topical mirtazapine every other day (to help with nausea), and amlodipine daily (for high blood pressure).
Unfortunately, he doesn’t eat the the low phosphorus and low protein prescription diets (we’ve tried wet and dry options from Royal Canin and Hills Prescription Diet). In saying that, his appetite is perfect with his “normal” food being Fancy Feast and Tiki Cat (both wet foods). He has been a stable 4.3kg for around 6 months now. He also drinks “hydracare” for extra hydration once daily.
He doesn’t seem to be in any pain and has the same behavioulifestyle as he did pre-kidney disease… which is scary as it seems to be a silent killer.
What are your thoughts on this? Are we missing anything? The vet recommended subcutaneous fluids and Ondansetron (to stop vomiting/nausea) as his next steps.

2024.04.23 06:33 networkdime Doctor dismissed drug interaction symptoms

Doctor dismissed drug interaction symptoms
Sorry this is long.
I was very close to having a seizure today. And although it was my fault I feel like I was very dismissed about it today.
I’ve been sick for the last week and was taking Mucinex, specifically not DM since I take Lamictal XR. Today I went to a clinic near me and was told to continue with my Mucinex since the antibiotic or steroid option I had needed clearing from my nuerologist. I was running low on Mucinex so I went to buy some (the clinic was in a store), and I swear I picked up the regular Mucinex liquid. Turns out it was Mucinex Fast-Max which had ingredients to steer from pictured, but Acetaminophen is fine for me. I took it at 12pm. I work from home so sitting at my computer I get hit with a huge wave of drowsiness at 2:30pm like I could’ve fallen asleep at my desk. I got these intense headaches and crazy anxiousness. I called the pharmacy no answer, my neurologist no answer. I ended up using my jobs on call doctor service and they told me to get to an urgent care asap. So I’m freaking out crying to my husband knowing something was wrong because I’d never felt like this before.
I eventually get to the urgent care, I’m now super dizzy and confused. It took me awhile to even get the words out to the receptionist that was filling out my health profile. And I felt the waves of anxiousness when I’d stand up.
I finally get brought to the back and I tell the nurse. My vitals are perfectly fine and I wait to see the doctor. It was so hard not to fall asleep and the headaches and confusion were terrible. The doctor came in and I told her everything and she said she took a look at those ingredients and said there were no interactions based on whatever they use to look them up. I use the Drugs.com app to see what interacts before I take anything.
I did an ekg and they took my blood sugar. Everything came back fine but the doctor kept saying that nothing was interacting and that I just needed some rest. Which she was right but like fuck when I kept telling her I was having those reactions she was like dismissing everything. She gave me the sheet they get from showing interactions (last picture). I felt really bad still and she just didn’t seem to really care. Like what if I actually had a seizure?? It would have been from the things I told her were happening. Obviously if I was having the exact symptoms that were listed in the drugs.com app then I was having a reactions! Ugh just really made me upset today 😔. My husband thinks I am 10000% valid in my feelings and felt the same as me. But now I’m thinking maybe I was overreacting? I got some rest and am fine now.

2024.04.05 06:13 Easy-Active-1546 Birth control and Mucinex

To my understanding the POP type birth control pills work by thickening the cervical mucus. I watched a tiktok recently of someone that said mucinex helped with their fertility. This has been studied and given variable results. I am currently sick with a cold taking only Tylenol because I'm worried any cold medicine or even allergy medication could potentially reduce the effectiveness of the pill (aka thin the mucus which is opposite intended effect). Does anyone know if this is true? I don't believe these are listed as interactions.
Note: I just recently changed to a POP (Opill) because my combo pills were giving me bad side effects, so I'm not looking to change my bc method here.

2024.04.04 05:43 Dramatic-Quality1553 visual hallucinations on doxylamine

so i’m not on any medication, only took a mucinex d pill today but apparently there’s no drug interaction there and i visually and physically had weird hallucinations. i have covid and have been dealing with intense insomnia the whole time and cannot fall asleep so i took half a 25mg pill. the first thing was the visual hallucinations. it wasn’t disturbing or scary but i could see stuff in my vision moving slowing, meshing together like kaleidoscope vision. then my family was talking pretty loud outside of my bedroom and i kept thinking they were yelling at me and were upset with me but they have never done that to me but in the moment i truly thought it was happening. then the last weird thing i had was this feeling of being in an ocean with waves going over my body every 5 seconds, so like imagine in cartoons when a character has those “aura” waves around them if they are hallucinating/or maybe they got hit in the head with a frying pan and the wobble effect goes down their whole body. that’s exactly how it felt. i got some sleep but what the actual hell was that? has anyone experienced this?

2024.04.04 03:40 carbonhan Is it safe to take High blood pressure medication + NAC?

My mom is taking amlodipine for her high blood pressure. Shes definitely suffering from long covid as well. I want to have her try NAC since its supposed to help remove the covid spike protein but i'm finding that NAC can drop blood pressure.
My question is: if you're on high blood pressure medication, what are your options for supplements to help clear the spike protein from your body? I really want to help my mom but it seems that everything that could help her interacts with amlodipine. I would appreciate any suggestions that has worked for you while taking blood pressure medication.
TIA

2024.04.02 02:17 nocturnal Anyone experience low blood pressure around day 4/5 of Paxlovid?

I take a medication which includes Amlodipine. My doctor did not mention to stop my bp meds, so I didn't. But I looked online and it said Paxlovid can interact with calcium channel blockers which Almodipine is. I started having low blood pressure, 90/60. Sometimes it gets as low as 90/48. Surprisingly I don't have any dizziness when I get up quickly.
I did not take my bp meds today and my bp is still around 90/60ish.

2024.03.26 22:41 truGrog I like to drink on fridays

TL;DR want to know if you folks skip taking a statin after drinking more than 2-3 units of alcohol
Hello, just got into the high cholesterol gang a few months back. Latest numbers back in january had me at a cholesterol of 333. Triglicerides of 515, HDL 60, LDL of 211. Im 41, 185 pounds and its been a big change to my diet and moods. The doc currently has me on 2.5 mg amlodipine for the blood pressure and 40mg of rosuvastatin for the cholesterol.
NOW having said all that, I don't drink daily. I do drink on friday nights. usually two beers and between 1-4 shots. its a practice i call pickling that ive enjoyed for maybe to long. All I want to know, is do you folks (if taking statins) skip the pill before going to bed?
From what ive read alcohol and statins dont interact with each other but both mess with the liver. so i didnt want them fighting for resources. But I can't find out if there is any draw back to skipping the statin on Friday nights.
I realize this is a selfish question, but still wanted to know what folks do before becoming sober for the rest of their lives.

2024.03.24 23:33 Kindly-Macaron-6094 Used Hims to order Sildenafil and have since been prescribed Amlodipine for BP by PCP. Interactions? Dangerous?

26M 193 lbs 6'. About a year ago, I used an online service (Hims) to purchase Viagra to assist with some psychological ED I had been experiencing. I never really ended up taking it, aside from one or two times. A few weeks ago I was diagnosed with hypertension and prescribed 5mg Amlodipine once daily. I also take Descovy for PREP. I am with a new partner and am having some of my old troubles with psychological ED again and am wondering if it is generally safe to take Amlodipine and Sildenafil. I realize there are moderate interactions but want to know how severe they generally are.

So i’m on Losartan and Amlodipine and one of my best friends bday is coming up and my question is I would like to drink but i’m concerned about the alcohol interaction. Some say alcohol lowers and some say it temporarily raises it. Would it be wise to skip my night dose or just take it hours before? TIA

2024.03.18 04:14 Plus-Web-2617 Amlodipine interactions?

My doctors said there's no interaction with my blood pressure med (amlodipine) and hydroxyzine, but since I've been on the BP med I notice I get a lot more PVCs than before. I've been taking it for a year. I never had a bad reaction from hydroxyzine, but I haven't tried it since taking the BP med. Anyone else taking both? My hydroxyzine is 50 mg taken as needed

2024.03.18 02:59 Kindly-Macaron-6094 Can I take Amlodipine and Sildenafil?

26M. 190 lbs, 6’ tall. I have moderate hypertension, which started when I began a PhD program a few years ago. I also have extreme sexual performance anxiety. Any risk to taking Amlodipine and sildenafil? I know there’s a moderate interaction but am wondering whether it’s enough to cause concern.
Only other drug I take is Descovy for PreP.
