2024.05.16 05:08 thehegs Keto slow cooker recipes?

My biggest weakness when it comes to keto is that I can’t get the habit of cooking for myself all the time to stick. I think it just comes down to constantly having to wash the dishes, and the effort of the meal prep, even if I plan it out and meal prep for the week, is just not something I can stick to very well. And, of course, relying too much on keto snacks/fast food/takeout gets expensive very quickly.
So, for me, I have arrived at a slow cooker recipe that has been a lifesaver for me. It’s about as low effort as it gets:
And leave it on low heat until all the ingredients have basically disintegrated, usually 8-10 hours. Simple, very easy, delicious, nutritious and keto. This is pretty much two or three days’ worth of food for me. I’ve also started experimenting with adding butter when I reheat the leftovers.
Anybody else have a go-to slow cooker recipe? Huge bonus points if it is easy enough not to require chopping up any ingredients!

Are entry refurbished and reopened from Albright a Hyatt property. Absolutely loved the hotel! Amazing staff, clean facilities and room and an excellent executive lounge experience.
As a titanium elite member I was upgraded to a one bedroom suite which was massive! A lively welcome Amenity in room of some amazing truffles and fruit. The room was modern and spacious. I Liked the design perhaps not For everyone but it appealed To me.
The tv was massive in the bedroom, city view, bath was lovely. Overhead shower though I prefer a hand shower everyone is different.
Swimming pool was ample in size and had great facilities. No staff on duty in the area, so am unsure if the bar etc by the pool is Open regularly etc.
The executive staff <3 amazing service. Friendly attentive and genuinely good people. Am unsure if there is afternoon tea as I was Swimming. However there are evening cocktails and light food. I foolishly thought I’d go to dinner afterwards however I was too full. The array of cheese and cold cuts was ample. They had fresh spring rolls. Salad. Vietnamese shrimp salad, drinks. Hot food of satay and seafood snacks. Bread. Desserts and so on.
Breakfast - again great experience. Japanese, Korean, Indian, Vietnamese and standard western fare were all available. Omelette station. Noodle soup station. Fresh juice station. For Me the winner was the coffee and fresh croissants.
Overall I strongly recommend the Hotel, maybe a tad far From the city centre but tacos are easy to get. One of the best experiences yet!!!!

2024.05.16 05:04 PsychoSimmer08 I'm stressed and need advice

I (15 f) am in a wheelchair full time due to my Cerebral Palsy. Although my legs don't work everything else about me does (no special ed, no behavioral issues, full bladder and bowel control, etc.) I have a 1 on 1 aide we'll call Patty (44 f) who's whole job is to stay close by and get things out of my backpack for me when i ask her to. It's a really easy job and I'm a really easy going person. The first few months of having Patty as my aide were amazing. She seemed to be a kind hearted person that really cared about her job and the people around her. She quickly made friends with everyone, especially one of the teachers we'll call Debbie (28 f). Debbie is my mom's really good friend and has been for a few years now. After the 4th month Patty started acting strange. She asked for her official job description from the front office and started pulling away and becoming standoffish. One random day she decided to sit super far from me in class, so far that I had to text her to help me which is technically against the rules for us to have each others numbers. While she was away she was chatting with the TA and all around just being super distracting to me and others, including the teacher. I confronted her about this and reminded her that this is a partnership and she can't make decisions about me or my education without talking to me about it first. Nothing changed. I ended up having to have a meeting with the VP about Patty to try and fix the problem without creating more issues. After the meeting she got mad and tried to say that I could have talked to her first, to which I told her that I already tried that and that the meeting was my last resort to try and salvage this. After that day I have gotten massive amounts of sass and attitude from her for no reason. This is the type of attitude I would expect from a small child not a grown adult. It's gotten so bad that my friends have started to notice how she treats me. A little while after the meeting Patty started asking me really personal questions about Debbie. I made sure to tell Debbie about this because I thought she should know this was happening and because the questions were weirdly specific (ex. How/when did your mom and Debbie meet?). I have started carrying all of my my stuff on my lap in what me and my friends have started calling the "F You Patty Bag". I struggle a lot with getting my stuff in and out of it but at this point I would rather deal with that than with Patty. I genuinely want a new aide. The only thing holding me back is that I am a raging people pleaser and am absolutely terrified I am going to hurt her feelings somehow. My stomach is in knots and i am literally losing sleep over this. I feel emotionally exhausted stuck and don't know what to do next. Please help! Especially if you are / once were a Para professional. Thank you guys!

2024.05.16 05:01 Sea-Investigator7075 Perspectives on moving overseas

Long time lurker, first time poster - throwaway, due to the low risk that anyone in my life knows my main lol.
It's looking like I may have the opportunity to move overseas later this year if my boyfriend's career takes him there. We've been together just over a year, and while we don't currently live together, that was already on the cards in future once I've had a bit longer enjoying living alone after the end of my previous long-term relationship. If the overseas move happens, then that would be the start of our life together in that sense. We've already had conversations about our commitment to each other, the fact that he's down to have kids together if I decide that's what I want etc.
There's a huge part of me that wants to do this and feels like its the right thing to do. I live in Tasmania, so while I've done a reasonable amount of travelling, this would be an amazing opportunity to be closer to the rest of the world and see more of the many many places I've always wanted to go. It's always been a point of slight sadness for me that I've never experienced living and immersing myself somewhere different, and I guess I'm not alone in sometimes asking myself what I want my life to look like when I reflect back on it when I'm old, and what am I doing now to ensure that I'll feel like I lived a happy, exciting, fulfilling life. I've always been one to just go with where life takes me, and where it's taken me has been a very enjoyable and sociable but fairly predictable path of growing up, studying, living and working all in the same city. I've never been the type to decide 'I want to do XYZ' and make big moves to make that happen, but rather live under the assumption of 'one day I'll do that.'
There's a lot of rational factors why now would be the right time. Firstly, if this potential opportunity pans out for my boyfriend, then it would sort out visa and relocation which would be a huge help in terms of stress and cost. Secondly, I've gone as far as I can in my current job, and was already looking for new roles based in Tasmania, so why not do that overseas instead. Thirdly, I don't have kids yet, but if I want them then realistically I should probably get onto that in the next couple of years, so now feels like my last opportunity to have that overseas experience without the added difficulty of children. Lastly, between friends having kids or moving away themselves, I can feel my social life changing and it will only continue to do so. Add to that the fact that I'm in my mid-thirties rather than a 20 year old with my entire adult life before me, there's a real sense of 'if not now, when?' If the current circumstances aren't right to go and do this, then when exactly will they be?
But there are also some big factors holding me back. Firstly, my ex and I still share the pet we got together, and I can't think of any reason she would decide to let me keep them permanently and take them overseas with me. I will almost certainly be choosing to leave my baby behind, and it breaks my heart. Secondly, my dad's single with no family, and no other children. I feel huge guilt at leaving him here alone and super lonely. Thirdly, supposing I do have kids in a couple of years and in this new country, it won't be the experience I always imagined where my friends and I are experiencing that together, and where I'd have my mum nearby to support me. Lastly, my boyfriend's career is quite niche and I don't know how easy it would be for him to move back here. The limited job opportunities for him in Tasmania are a part of why he's got international opportunities in the first place, and why he may not be able to stay here forever. I'm scared that going overseas together won't be a time limited experience, but rather that I'm either leaving forever, or that if I do decide to come back to Tassie, it will be alone.
I love this man, we have a wonderful relationship and want a future together, it's part of why I'm considering going. But what if we just end up breaking up anyway, if I want to come back to be near my dad and my pet, and my boyfriend can't find suitable work here?
I'm not sure whether I'm looking for advice, or just need to get this off my chest as I've not told anyone in my personal life this information while it's all still confidential and uncertain. Maybe I'm just looking for perspective, or thoughts and experiences from anyone who has either made a similar move, or alternately opted not to take a similar opportunity, and hear how happy you are or aren't with your decision.

2024.05.16 04:59 noodlemonsterlsd [routine help] is it okay to sometimes shower twice in one day?

TLDR: sometimes I sweat and have to shower in the morning but also always shower routinely before bed. I use lotion after every shower. Should I be fine?
I have to shower before bed. It helps with my trouble sleeping, and it’s a sort of psychological need. However, depending on the exercise I choose for a day, I may sweat. Lately I’ve been running more in the mornings (as that time is most convenient for me), and I get sweaty. Then I have a quick shower (like 2 minutes) to wash off my body. I still shower right before bed, though.
Every time I shower, I apply lotion after. I just use the lavender Aveeno stuff because it’s gentle and doesn’t smell super strong and I can get a lot at once. I use it all over, but mostly on my arms and legs, and when I wash my face, I do moisturize my ears and neck, so my whole body does get moisturized by the end of the day.
Would this make it okay to shower twice a day? Honestly applying lotion is such an easy task at this point, so it wouldn’t feel like a hassle. I wouldn’t be showering twice a day every single day, but I would have to shower twice on the occasion that I do get sweaty. Would that be fine? Probably every other day to a couple days a week.

2024.05.16 04:45 CalliopeUrias Air Conditioner Issues (FL)

We had to move for my husband's job, and began renting a house at the beginning of April. The last tenant apparently did a number on the house, and the repairs were ongoing pretty much until the day we moved in. One of those repairs involved ripping out the AC system that cooled the two ground floor bedrooms and the front hall. When we moved in, the property manager said that the AC was being repaired and would be reinstalled. Then, a month later, she said that they were getting quotes on replacing the system from a few local companies, and would I be able to schedule a day where the dudes could come and do an estimate.
A week after that, the property manager says that the owner of the house has decided that replacing the AC system is too expensive, and he's bought window units that will be delivered to the house.
Fine, whatever, it's getting hot and we just need something.
Except when the units finally arrived yesterday, it turns out that they're not true window units, they're these weird boxes that sit on the floor and connect to the window via plastic duct tubing. (Something kind of like this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Portable-Air-Conditioner-8000-BTU-Conditioners-Room-15-x20-ft-3-in-1-Compact-Indoor-Floor-AC-Unit-Dehumidify-Fan-Window-Installation-Kit-Remote-Cont2752455911)
The problem (aside from the fact that they're ugly as all get out) is that these two rooms are my kids' rooms, two of whom are 5 year old boys. These things are a massive tripping hazard, they're super light and easy to tip over, and the ducting isn't all that sturdy. Someone is going to break something.
I wrote an email to the property manager explaining that these units are a safety hazard, because they can't be anchored to a wall or to the floor, and someone is going to knock them over, but her response is basically that she'll pass my email along to the owner, but it's a me-problem, not a them-problem.
Aside from tossing these stupid things in the shed and getting my own real window units that I can anchor into the window and that the kids won't trip on, is there anything I can do?

2024.05.16 04:35 necromanticpotato [Dairy] Mocha Milkshake

[Dairy] Mocha Milkshake
Wanted to share my (dairy) mocha milkshake recipe with everyone. Yep, it's a very short recipe. Sometimes I add a few drops of almond extract and it gives it a light cherry cordial taste (but too much and it's disgustingly cherry flavored).
This freezes solid overnight, so it needs plenty of time to get cold before you spin it. I spin this as ice cream, which is a 2 minute spin time, and spin again on mixins. The final pint volume relies a lot on mix ins. I add 4 smashed oreos into the pint myself and it's perfect. Note: respins will destroy the oreos, so it's nice to have smaller volume to finish in one sitting.
I don't use jello, gums, etc. I lean a lot on milk fats (even from oat milk) and sugar to help produce texture and disrupt ice crystal formations. I prefer milkshake consistencies, spoonable desserts, so I don't build my simple recipes expecting to have solid round ball scoops. Just a nice frosty (from Wendy's) consistency or thicker.
Enjoy unresponsibly.

2023 chilled Red Blend
Loving this red blend from Santa Barbara county. Gamay, Syrah, Carignan, grüner and Grenache. All unfiltered of course. Tastes like funky Hawaiian Punch and strawberry, super smooth and light.
This is their Pride edition bottle as the 2 women winemakers are married. Such an easy refreshing chilled red!

2024.05.16 04:32 Andre3000RPI Yahoo Morning Briefing

April's big inflation reveal: The meme trade has been a fun diversion, but the serious business is here: the April Consumer Price Index reading is set for release at 8:30 a.m. ET. Prices rose 0.4% over the prior month, matching March's pace and bringing the annual inflation rate down to 3.4%. Stripping out food and energy costs, economists expect core inflation fell to 3.6% annually in April, which would be the slowest pace in about three years. ‌
Biden hits China with tariffs: The White House announced a suite of new tariffs on Chinese goods on Tuesday, with a key focus on EVs. In an interview with Yahoo Finance, President Biden painted cheap goods flooding the market — subsidized by the Chinese government — as an attempt to "put everybody else out of business and then they take over." Biden also said he expects China to retaliate but that the trade conflict would be manageable. ‌
GameStop and AMC continue to surge: GameStop followed Monday's 74% gain with a 62% surge Tuesday as the company continues to ride the recent meme stock rally. AMC also saw a second day of gains, finishing Tuesday 33% higher after gaining 80% Monday. Shrewdly, the company disclosed it raised $250 million issuing stock after Monday's pop. ‌
Google's new search: Google unveiled a new way of googling at its I/O conference that, yes, involves a lot of AI. The biggest overhaul to its search engine in years will integrate its AI engine to provide complex answers to queries — with citations. This time, we hope they're real. Users will also be able to perform compound searches for more targeted results without resorting to googling multiple times. For example, the ability to search for "a gym that offers discounts for new members — and how far it is from where I live." ‌
Powell plays down PPI: Fed Chair Jerome Powell provided a timely response to Tuesday's hotter-than-expected headline number for the Producer Price Index, speaking from a panel in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Powell downplayed the hot overall number, pointing at the mixed data and backward revisions. Still, the central bank head again stressed a need to be patient and "let restrictive policy do its work." Today's Takeaway is by Jared Blikre, Markets Reporter ‌ Meme stocks survived another volatility-fueled session Tuesday. ‌ Taking a page from the 2021 playbook, GameStop and AMC Entertainment led the charge. ‌ Both meme stalwarts notched gains over 74% Monday and had further doubled their share prices on the open Tuesday — only to sell off most of the day into the close. Nevertheless, after dozens of volatility halts GameStop closed the day up 62% while AMC jumped by 30%.‌ Amid some gentle coaxing by Keith Gill (aka Roaring Kitty), a slew of names familiar to Reddit boards followed — companies like Koss, Tupperware, Virgin Galactic, Hertz, and BlackBerry. ‌ But while the explosion in volatility rightfully invites comparisons to the well-known 2021 saga that played out on Reddit and across US stock exchanges, 2024 is already proving to be quite different. ‌ This year, Wall Street is driving the bus. ‌
Vanda Research crunched the numbers and reported in a note to clients that GameStop and AMC have only seen a fraction of the inflows experienced in early 2021. Flows into these names at the peak of the early 2021 frenzy were over four times Monday's volume. ‌ "Do we think more retail traders can jump in on the trend in the coming days? Yes. Do we think this is a repeat of 2021? No, and the chances we reach that stage are low," said Vanda. ‌ Without glancing at a single stock chart, it's easy to point out that 2021 was likely a historical aberration fueled by bored recipients of pandemic stimulus checks. ‌ Wall Street was caught flat-footed. Hedge funds like Melvin Capital were obliterated. ‌ But institutional investors learned from the 2021 episode and are better prepared now, argues Vanda. ‌ "Quant/hedge funds are much better equipped to handle these situations nowadays," Vanda senior vice president Marco Iachini noted. "If anything, we believe the chances that they participate along with retail in the squeeze but also lean against and then exit these trades ahead of retail traders are high." ‌
As of Monday's close, the portion of share turnover in GameStop attributable to retail investors averaged 7% over the prior five days — and that number was only slightly higher for AMC. In 2021, the averages and spikes were materially higher, indicating much greater participation by retail traders. ‌ Data in the options market confirms a similar story. ‌ But the biggest difference this year might just be the lack of one single, coherent narrative like the meme story that captured headlines in 2021. ‌ Only last week, we wrote about the recent resurgence of volatility in meme names. "In a critical break from prior trading epochs, much of the recent meme stock volatility is being fueled by material news and fundamentals, like earnings, as opposed to Reddit posts," we wrote. Why the 2024 meme stock action is much tamer than 2021 — so far Indeed, our (unofficial) Yahoo Finance meme stock heat map reveals impressive returns over the last two days that are mostly green across the board. But aside from GameStop and AMC, these daily returns are decidedly not triple digits as they were three years ago. ‌ In fact, the bigger names on this list — like Coinbase, Carvana, and Palantir — have been making their gains the old-fashioned way: around earnings and bitcoin fundamentals.
How much Wednesday's inflation print surprises economists — up or down — will be of particular importance during Wednesday's trading day. ‌ But analyzing market action from CPI release days back to May 2023's print, the equity research team at Goldman Sachs led by David Kostin found that "interest rate sensitive pockets of the equity market typically experience particularly large moves on CPI days regardless of the magnitude of the surprise." Chart of the day As seen in the chart above, non-profitable tech and the small-cap Russell 2000 index (^RUT) have moved significantly more depending on where the inflation print lands over the past year. ‌ — Josh Schafer, Markets Reporter

2024.05.16 04:21 CaliforniaBear1993 Seems like Playstation is friendlier than Xbox

So I just came to Xbox to help out some family with Fallout 76, I know fallout community is super friendly for a fact because I love helping new players who ask! Today I needed some ammo and Stims if possible I only asked for .38 because I only have a cheap combat rifle, I don't want to ask for guns and overburden people and beg. I know stimpacks are easy cuz I have sometimes 400 or 500 easy! I give away 50 or 60 or more away with radaways. I ask high lvl players around lvl 600 and 700 cuz I'm that high on PSN and I have tons to offer freely! No one on xbox wants to help or is super rude! I know fallout community is nice and sweet but this really hurts me because I am so nice on psn and this my thanks for being nice? :( today officially hurt my faith and personal feelings, I'm sorry to rant and complain. :(

2024.05.16 03:59 SubbiesForLife Feels like our Selling Agent isn't doing anything, Looking for Advice

I'm hoping someone here can recommend next steps, (TLDR at bottom) I'm super stressed about this, and we don't know who else to ask/contact. Backstory my wife and I bought our house during COVID near Charleston SC, we are 30-40 minutes to any of the prime beaches, and live in a nice quiet community, low cost yearly HOA. We bought a decently sized ranch house (3BR,2Bath, 1950sqft) with a FROG (finished room over garage), 2 Car garage for $300k. We did some changes to it like nice ceiling fans, tile backsplash in kitchen, custom built on-suite closet, whole house surge protector, whole house Lutron Caseta Switches, Ethernet Wiring, Larger Structured Media Cabinet. Nothing personalized, and nothing crazy.
My wife and I want to move back home closer to family where we originally moved from. We are having our first baby, and its time to go be around family. So in January we contacted the Real Estate Agent we used when we bought, she was a "Top Producer" and was easy to work with last time. We met with her, came up with the plan, and explained to her that we needed to be sold by Memorial Day ( my wife is a teacher, and she had to resign from her job, so after Memorial Day, we are down to a single income). She said that this would be no problem, as our house should sell within 3 months. She advised us to list it for $400,K to $410K and said it was comparable to other comps in the area. We asked if she thought we could get $410,000 for it and she said "easily!". So we listed for $410K, due to our realtor saying that other houses were selling for that similar to ours.
We listed it on March 1st, and had 5 showings that first week. A buyer submitted a offer on the first day at $395K with $10k closing assistance, 2% earnest deposit and some other stuff and put a time limit of noon response required. My realtor advised us to not take it, since it was a "bad offer" for being one day on the market. I also couldn't get ahold of my wife, due to her teaching schedule. We countered after their time limit expired and never heard back from the buyers. Since then we've had about 8 showings, and nobody has submitted a offer. We had one guy do multiple showings, only to be ghosted and his agent never contacting ours again. We have gotten no decent feedback from any showings, and its becoming frustrating. One showing resulted in feedback of " my client is somewhat interested". Without feedback, we don't understand what is wrong or why people don't like it.
We've dropped the price in increments of $2k (not our idea). Finally this week I told our realtor to cut it to $389K. This week we have no showings. At this point, we haven't had a showing in 2 and a half weeks, and had a open house that resulted in 1 person showing up and leaving. My realtor insists they posted and advertised it everywhere, but we checked her Facebook page and it our open house was only posted on Friday (when it was the next day). We've had some other problems with our realtor, just super uncommunicative, went on vacation without telling us. Forgot to tell us we could double or triple book showing appointments. The app they use for scheduling, showingtime is also super unhelpful. If i have to reject a showing due to timing (i work from home, so sometimes the showings don't align with when i can leave). I can suggest a new time, 10 out of 10 times, the protective buyers agent will reject the new time slot proposed and never contact us again. I've told my realtor how incredibly frustrating this is. The app (showingtime) should have the requesting realtor choose 3 time slots, and then let us choose which one works best for us. This way, we can still achieve the showing, and choose a time that works fore everyone. She says that she has reached out to everyone who requested a showing but didn't get one and never heard back.
Our last showing appointment was right against my last work day meeting. So we made it work, and gathered up our dogs, and work gear so i can finish my day, and get into the car and I get a text message "CANCELLED SHOWING: buyer submitted offer elsewhere". This made me super frustrated... They waited or their realtor waited to cancel the showing until their timeslot when they were supposed to be there. I called our realtor and told her how frustrating this was. I had to cut my work day short, and run around our house like crazy to make this time slot work, and then they cancel ultra last minute. She had no words other than "that's so weird, I wonder why they waited so long to cancel"
At this point, my wife and I don't know what to do. We explicitly told her, that we needed our house sold and done by end of May at the latest, and no later than July due to financials and my wife not securing a new teaching job right away, along with her being pregnant. We totally understand that mortgage rates are terrible, and its not entirely the same market when we bought. However, we feel like we have been mislead, and wasted time waiting to list on March 1st. We feel like it should have been listed in January/February due to how we needed things to move along. I've asked my realtor about offering a rate buy down, and she did get the information, but said it was required the prospective buyer be "Approved and have 20% for it to be effective and worthwhile" which they said probably wouldn't happen right now with the market the way it is.
Does anyone have any advice on how to move forward? I'm aware that we probably need to part ways with her, but the contract we signed says she has rights to sell the property until September. So parting ways isn't going to happen anytime soon. My wife and I were going to sell to opendoor and not even use a realtor, but the realtor said to give the market a chance and see what happens... Well... now we are super late in May with nothing to show.
TLDR - House isn't selling, dropped price to slightly below comp's in area. No showings in 2 weeks. Realtor not being useful. Stressed out about entire situation, need some help with figuring out how to proceed.

2024.05.16 03:56 Independent_Sock_821 i hate how my serial cheater father ruins my relationships with men.

I'm F20 & just want to vent here kasi I don't want my friends to pity me. My father has physically abused and cheated on my mother multiple times, even going as far as keeping an updated spreadsheet with women he has slept with & wishes to sleep with.
I won't go into detail about his cheating pero bc of him, I've grown to hate men and always expect that they have ulterior motives with me. Things would be aight if those men proved me wrong pero NO! They always prove me right. Men always hurt me by breaking my trust bc there's always another woman & it usually makes me hate myself bc although I've dated a number of times, I always feel like I'm unlovable and only ever good enough to flirt / sleep with.
I'm quite softhearted and it breaks my heart everytime I need to put up a wall and act like a bad bitch in response to men admitting they've been unloyal, when all I rly wanna do is cry & tell them about how much they hurt me and are making it hard for me.
Recently, I broke up with my boyfriend last March 2023 & have built my walls up super high, ever since. (He told me he has feelings for his bestfriend LOL) & although I've been asked out by 2-3 different guys, I had trouble entertaining them properly + can't bring myself to go on dates I'm asked out on. I've always been nitpicking to find a reason to reject them & it's been a tiring cycle, contributing to my self-hatred bc I was aware of why I was acting this way.
Ff, became friends with this guy in uni & we hit it off immediately. Communicating with him was so easy & he eventually asked me out to dinner. I was hesitant at first pero I agreed & we had the date. Won't go into deets pero we had a great time & both agreed we liked it. Heck, we even kissed.
Pero last night he deactivated his IG and he spoke on imsg, he admitted he met his ex on that day & felt weak to her smiles, laugh, everyt. It felt like I was getting stabbed in the heart bc after I put my walls down, ofc there's another girl. We haven't finishwd our convo pa bc I ghosted him for now bc I have a quiz this aftwrnoon & had to review, but yh. I hate my dad for not setting a good example & I hate myseld for attracting men like him.

2024.05.16 03:50 Fragrant-Narwhal-675 I refused to accept 'incurable' for an answer. It led me to create the app I'd wanted for 13 years.

Growing up with health issues, I was told I'd be on meds for life. The side effects sucked, but the doctors said my condition was incurable. I wasn't having it.
I started digging and discovered the power of nutrition and exercise. It blew my mind! Simple changes in what, when, and how much I ate dramatically improved my health. I was hooked.
I studied Health Science and put the knowledge into practice. After 3 years of dedicated training, I won a Mr Australia title, opened a gym, and helped thousands improve their fitness. But nutrition was always the biggest roadblock.
I spent countless hours educating clients, creating personalised plans, recipes, shopping lists - you name it. I needed a way to make this process efficient and scalable. That's when the idea for this application was born, 13 years ago.
But the tech wasn't there yet. Developers said it was impossible. I even tried to learn coding myself but hit roadblocks. It wasn't until GPT models came out that I saw a glimmer of hope.
Fast forward to late 2023, after selling my business and countless DMs with tech geniuses, it finally clicked. Two days before Christmas, I had a working prototype. GoodMeals was born.
Now, users can input their details and goals, and GoodMeals calculates their macros, splits them across meals, and helps build a personalised meal plan. We've got over 7000 macro-calculated recipes that can be adjusted to your needs. And the best part? You can describe what you feel like eating, and GoodMeals will generate a custom recipe that hits your macros in under 30 seconds.
This was the key feature, the ability to generate a macro calculated recipe based on what someone wants to eat, when they want it. This makes the process scalable and means no more manually having to find nutritional info or calculate macros; people can now just describe it.
No more excuses. No more eating the same thing every week. GoodMeals makes nutrition easy and accessible for everyone. It's been a wild ride, but bringing this vision to life has been worth every sleepless night.
It is by no means finished, and I still want to add and improve. The initial feedback has been positive, but I also think it could be biased, so I am posting this here to try to get some relatively objective feedback and see what others think about it. Feel free to roast me or the app, I will do my best to take it on the chin and use it to make GoodMeals even better.
Thanks.

2024.05.16 03:50 Excellent-Aardvark54 Need some help with family problem

I, 15M, have been living in the same house all my life. When was around 9-10 my parents divorced, my dad moved to the town he lived in before he met my mom, and my mom stayed in our big city. I’ve never liked the city, I’ve always liked my dad’s are. It was by all of my family, it was beautiful, it was fun, it was cool. The only thing I liked about the city was the easy transport and my friends. If I moved to my dad’s this summer I could get a job easier, my license, be able to afford a cool first car, everything I dreamed of. My mom will NOT let that happen for anything though. She claims she has stuff to teach me (which she hasn’t taught me much, just yells at me and calls me a things). To give her credit, she did teach me good manners, but that’s about it. My dad is super handy, and I’d love for him to teach me things, I always love when we work on something together, especially something mechanical like his car. TLDR: My mom and I don’t get along, I hate the area we live in, I miss my dad since he moved many years ago and I don’t get to see him, and I loved where he lives (Ask any questions in the comments I will answer)

2024.05.16 03:49 SmoothCheesecake713 Positive story! 6 weeks PO

Backstory: I’m a 30 year old and I’ve struggled with heavy, clotty, and very painful periods for a few years now (worsened after having kids). I was recently diagnosed with adenomyosis after going to the ER for a huge blood clot and extra heavy bleeding. I was done with my uterus since I already have 2 babies and I wanted to be done with my horrible periods. I went in for my consultation and had a surgery date within a month or so.
Surgery day was smooth and I stayed the night in the hospital for 1 night. I had my family stay at our house in little 3-4 day increments for the first 2 weeks to help with my 18 month old and 3 year old during the day while my husband worked. Then after the first two weeks my husband worked shorter hours and ran up and down the stairs to help lift our son in and out of the highchair constantly etc.
My recovery went really well! I had a total laproscopic hysterectomy and kept my ovaries. The gas pains right after surgery were the worst part of recovery by far for me. I tried to walk around and move and keep trying to pass gas and eat things that were easy to digest. I also focused on eating nutritious and very fibrous foods to heal. I drank a protein shake every day and made smoothies and ate applesauce pouches with lots of veggies etc. I also took miralax for the week before surgery through the first 2 weeks. I was only on narcotic pain meds for about 3 days, on big girl ibuprofen for maybe 3 more days after that. I felt mostly normal by 2-3 weeks post op except for the fatigue. I was really good about not lifting anything for the 6 weeks (and had lots of help from my family and husband thank goodness).
I just had my 6 week appt and she said my vaginal cuff is healed and only have about a 1/2 inch spot on it that is still red and raw looking but that I was cleared for lifting and sexual activity. I am now lifting my toddlers and feeling like myself again (minus the uterine pain yay!). My husband and I finally had sex and it went super well! We used lots of lubrication and took our time getting warmed up and it didn’t hurt at all! I was so relieved!!
Just wanted to share my positive experience for anyone who was scared to get the surgery done. I know I was super lucky to receive so much help from my village and that’s a big part of why I was able to take the time to really heal well. I was super nervous and hesitant to do it, but I am SO GLAD that I got the surgery done! It was easier on my body than my 2 vaginal births IMO. Good luck out there y’all! ❤️

2024.05.16 03:46 ConradT16 It doesn’t matter what the price does now - what matters is it’s proof that we were right, over the entire last 3 years.

Three years ago, I was 19 years old and I was obsessed with the MOASS. Spending every day reading DD instead of studying and speaking like a finance bro every night over dinner, I finally convinced my family to invest tens of thousands into GameStop. Unfortunately, it happened at the wrong time for them, as the stock has only fallen since. Despite my intrinsic belief in the DD, in the community, in the upside potential guaranteed to show up one day, I felt so guilty.
I couldn’t keep telling them that GameStop was going to the moon while their accounts where dropping in value, albeit only being a negligible sum of a few hundred shares which they wrote off as a lesson not to trust the hype. But I couldn’t ask them to spend their time reading the DD and understanding what’s really going on. So I just asked them to hold, no more.
“Dad, I promise that one day, you’ll regain your investment. Not today, not tomorrow, but one day”, I said. And he did. For three years in the red. Three years of me feeling self-conscious every time I visited my folks, believing they thought I was foolish and gullible. It wasn’t about the money for them, it was how confident I was that we’re all going to make it big, kindly telling me “you’ve learnt a lesson” but really meaning “you’re too naive, son”.
So I stopped mentioning GME. None of us spoke of it for two years. Then, in the middle of March this year, I saw a spark of hope. After intensive analysis, research, and with now years of university education having strengthened my critical thinking, I told my parents to buy in when it was 11.xx. I myself added £5000 which I got from selling SPY at its ATH. I was all in, financially and reputationally.
Then this week happened, and the stock which my parents had written off as a nonsensical meme stock, saw a 500% gain in a couple of days, and with it, three years of my family’s doubt in me vanished, replaced with gratitude and reverence at my “incredible market knowledge of an engineering student”. I’m just a humble ape, my knowledge is all down to this super community of hyper-intelligent and tireless value investors.
But hearing those words meant so much more to me than my DRSed portfolio rising by £20k in a day. After being treated as gullible and out of your depth for so long, then to finally demonstrate that I always knew what I was talking about was an awesome feeling. And now they can’t help but have their interests piqued to the extreme as to why this stock moves like this.
So use the chaos of this week to encourage your friends to question why a stock would move like this on no news, to ask why mainstream media forced the $5 price target down our throats, or pinned a 24hr $5bn market value growth on a seemingly meaningless cartoon posted by a single GME investor, with no actual corporate events occurring.
Start by explaining the MSM’s contradictions, this will be puzzling and easy to understand. Feed them the idea that these outlets might not be entirely objective. And if not, who are they in bed with? Perhaps, it’s the highest bidder, the entity who has the most at stake with GME and can afford the risk of bribing MSM, because the truth would be so, so much worse for them, if it ever came out.
We’re close to locking the float. When it’s locked, new apes will find it very difficult to buy in. Share the DD with them now, before it’s too late and the price is in the 6 figures and your friends resent you for not convincing them to buy.

2024.05.16 03:43 pakrninja 20 things I learned for budget oriented tourists in Vegas

  1. Fremont Street Experience - 3 stages with Live bands, plenty of street performers, 2 OG casinos (1 of which lets you take a picture with $1,000,000) plus plentiful bars/restaurants. Spending money is not required. We didn't make it at night, but from what I understand it is a good show. During the summer there are more popular artists that perform in the area.
  2. Buy a bus pass. $20 for 3 days of unlimited rides. Bus stops at most casinos on the strip as well as Fremont Street. It can get crowded, but it is far cheaper than Lyft/Uber or parking your own vehicle.
  3. Plan on having cash on hand for tipping. They gave us a booklet with recommended tipping amounts for just about any potential service you could require. On a budget you don't want to be that tourist that doesn't tip when expected, but you also don't want to overdue it. Just a quick few (Bellhops $1-$3 per bag, Housekeeping $5-$10 per day you have them clean, Buffets $5-$10 per person)
  4. Just about everything else can be purchased using Credit/Debit cards. Even a lot of the street performers take digital payments now (Zelle, CashApp, Venmo, Paypal)
  5. High Roller observation wheel - If you are 21+, I would recommend getting the "Happy half hour" tickets (Cost a bit more but include unlimited drinks on your ride) which can be used at any time of the day, but definitely go at night. Pods are supposed to hold up to 40 ppl, but when we went we had about 12-15 people besides us. Plenty of room and plenty of time to get your drink on.
  6. Wear comfortable shoes, When looking at a map it can be deceiving how far things are from each other. You will find out quickly that you will put some mileage on. My wife and I averaged about 9-10 miles of walking per day, and that was with us trying to avoid it due to medical issues.
  7. Hotel - We stayed at the Hilton Grand Vacations, it's a very nice hotel. Our room was massive, included a full kitchen, dishwasher, dishes, washedryer, and an in wall safe. Be aware, they will ransack you with signing up for a sales presentation. If you are willing to sit through the presentation you will score some goodies, like free show tickets or free dinner, etc. You are under no obligation to buy anything, but if you want free... this is a good way.
  8. Speaking of washedryer in our room, check your booking closely to see if you have one. If you do, make sure to not overpack. We stayed a week and probably could have packed for 3 days and been just fine.
  9. Book a room with a full kitchen if possible. We went grocery shopping after checking in and stocked up enough basic foods for the week so we didn't have to eat out every meal. When every meal is going to cost you a minimum of $15-$20 per person basically everywhere, it can add up quick. Plus all of the dishes were included, we just had to wash them. They also provided dishwasher detergent.
  10. Resort Fees - Be aware of the hotel charging resort fees. As far as I am aware, every hotel on the strip at least has resort fees. HGV had one at $30 per night (Which literally paid for our "complimentary"Wi-Fi, having a phone in our room, and being allowed to self park) Valet was $40 per night billed on our hotel tab.
  11. Do not engage with the sales people on the streets unless you are truly interested. It is easy to get scammed and you aren't getting your money back. They also will hound you if you show the least bit of interest in what they are doing. If you bring kids, be aware that there is a TON of pornographic material/cards being handed out or offered in newspaper style machines. Not to mention the "showgirls" that are wandering around with very little on offering to take pictures with you (for a fee of course), there are also BDSM women that walk around and offer to spank you, in front of everyone of course.
  12. If you are a people watcher, be aware there are limited areas to sit and just people watch unless you sit at a barestaurant. There are surfaces around to sit on in some places, but I wouldn't count on it.
  13. Our 2 favorite restaurants on our trip. Margaritaville (Which we were informed will be closing down it's current location due to their lease expiring, but they are looking for a new location.) and Heart attack grill. If you don't know what either of those are, go on youtube and search. Heart attack grill is a themed restaurant and it is geared towards unhealthy eaters (or fat people if you will). Food was delicious though. Margaritaville had great food, great atmoshere, and great service.
  14. Buffet - If you are tempted to spend $$$ on an expensive buffet, be aware they really aren't worth the cost if you are on a budget. We went to the Wynn buffet ($75/person) which included our non-alcoholic drinks. If I had known then what I know now, I honestly would have ONLY gone for dessert. While there is a large assortment of really good food, it is all designed to fill you up quickly and there is just about zero chance you get your $75 worth unless you are a professional eater (or eat like one). But going for desserts, you have so many different choices to try and the portions are smaller being desserts. If you were to buy these desserts at a normal restaurant, they would price between $5-$25. That means you can quickly get your $75 worth without overeating. As of this post, Wynn buffet is the 2nd most expensive buffet, behind bacchanal. We only ate at the Wynn buffet, but there are also more reasonably priced buffets around $30-$50 per person.
  15. Blue Man Group - If you haven't heard of them, look them up. They are a comedy show, but not stand up comedy. It's skit based, involves lots of music and crowd interaction. There is NO TALKING from the members of the blue man group, they only act. Which just adds to the show, we loved it. It's a little pricey, I paid about $135 each for tickets... but it was pretty much the highlight of our trip.
  16. Any restaurants you plan on visiting, make reservations. Most you can make online. It may not be needed, but if you show up and there is a line down the block, you get to skip the line. Well worth it, just make sure you are there on time or you lose your spot.
  17. Avoid buying tourist trap excursions off websites claiming to give you a deal. 99% of them are either the exact same price as if you walk up to the venue or possibly even slightly more expensive. Not to mention, they are literally called a tourist trap for a reason. If you have money to blow, have at it. But on a budget, you won't miss out by not getting sucked in.
  18. At basically every restaurant there will be a photographer walking around offering to take pictures. Don't be fooled into thinking these are free photos. They will give you one complimentry photo that is tiny, like as small as those instamax cameras (1x1 photos). They will offer you 2 larger photos (4x6) in a (not so) fancy cardboard photo frame. At the time of this post, it was $20 per photo. *Tourist Hack* If you want the photos, tell them you do not want them and they will offer you both photos without the cardboard frame for $20. This worked at every single restaurant that we hit. Although, we only purchased twice, because how many restaurant photos with logos and crap on it do you need?
  19. If you really want to save money, do things OFF-strip. Everything on the strip is pricier, I do mean EVERYTHING.
  20. All gift shops have basically the same things. We visited the "Worlds Largest Gift Shop" and also one called ABC gifts (or something like that). Honestly, the Worlds largest felt crowded and overwhelming. The ABC shop we went to had some nice things in it that we bought, I would recommend them.
