Do I still love you?

2024.05.14 15:13 Affectionate_Let4071 Do I still love you?

Just got dumped by the guy I really wanted to settle down with a few days ago. We were always talking about getting a house together, and having children. He would laugh at me because the names I thought of for our future child sounded too exotic.
I really loved him and I think he loved me too. He would do things for me if I couldn’t sometimes, pick me up from my campus at school, and bring me home every time we went out, no matter how tired he was.
But… with good comes bad. When he got angry, he would be someone else. I wouldn’t even recognise him. He would get angry and shout at me, scream at me, and call me all sorts of unpleasant things
We often fought because I didn’t like how he handled these emotions. For context, he is a troubled man. He has family issues and baggage from the previous relationships he was in. So I understand if he feels the need to want to know where I am or check my phone.
But… a while ago, he had broken up with me- multiple times. Each time he broke up with me guys would come my way and start to want to hang out with me. I accepted the invite for a few. When we came back, he asked if I had gone out with any guys and I said yes.
He went beserk. Really just balls to the walls. He started to get controlling. He restricted my career, took control of my social media, and took control of my whole life. He became really unstable and cheated on me too, saying that he’s just serving me back what I served him.
But he broke up with me before I even went out with these people. Is that cheating? Even more recently, fights have been escalating. He went missing for a while and came back saying he had Korean Barbecue with a girl, who then he allowed to give him a blowjob.
He would always also ask for money, even though he earned more than me. He also would always ask me to apologise in ridiculous ways, and talked about how bad of a person I was all the time, that I was a whore for going out with other guys when HE broke up with me.
Because of how much this is to handle emotionally, I stopped feeling as much for him and lost a lot of attraction for him. I still love him, this I know, but it’s harder to love him to the extent I loved him at before because of this. If we reconcile, is this fixable?

2024.05.14 15:11 internalaudit168 Looking for a Tax Lawyer to help with a CRA dispute / decision

I had changed my 2021 and 2022 returns via REFILE in November 2023 only to change my reported capital losses to business/investment losses because having gone through the test/criteria (a to h), it made more sense to report on the account of income rather than capital and I for these kind of security transactions, I didn't mind being consistent and report on the account of income going forward.
A few weeks ago, the CRA agent who initiated the review in late December denied the gross business income and net business loss (provided all the calculations and walkthroughs and explanations) solely based on the rationale that I didn't trade frequently enough during those two calendar years. For all the other criteria I cited reasons for, it was left out of the decision conveniently.
So I chanced upon a post on on subreddit legaladvicecanada that was on a different legal situation:
"Here is the advice: call or email as many family lawyers as you can. Many of them, maybe even most, will want a consult fee. You will find a handful that will meet with you or discuss your issues over a 30 to 1 hour call for no consult fee. Focus on those. Do not pay a consult fee unless you can afford to throw that kind of money around. You should probably choose a lawyer that has recently embarked on their own and is young."
I live in Ontario and would like to know if the above recommendation makes sense in my situation. To talk to a handful of tax (not family) lawyers over a half-hour no fee consulting and ask about their fee structure and find out their strategy, advice and timelines?
Would be open to any tax lawyer recommendations who are credible, reliable and forthright and likely, have a good track record of winning these CRA cases.
Then I also found out about this Referral Service on that subreddit. Does it make sense to go through this referral service? I feel searching online may leave me with only law offices that have good Search Engine Optimization and I may really not land many of them that could be gold nuggets and could help with my current tax filing situation.
Thank you in advance for any advice/recommendation. Much appreciated.

2024.05.14 15:08 YourlocalTitanicguy Odd Titanica: Hollywood sleaze

In this edition of “Odd Titanica”, we are going to dive into the sleazy, opportunistic world of show business. A world that comedian Fred Allen said of, “you can take all the sincerity in Hollywood, place it in the navel of a fruit fly, and still have room for three caraway seeds and a producer’s heart”. Hyperbolic? Let’s take a look at Hollywood’s response to the Titanic disaster to see that there really is no business like show business.
Dorothy Gibson and the lost, first, film are well worn trivia by now. The traumatized actress rushed into production, her inability to process her trauma causing her mental breakdown, collapse, and retirement from acting immediately after the film was finished - it’s a perfect story to demonstrate the callousness of the film industry. But there is more to the story, and digging deeper shows us that “Saved” may have been the least sleazy project undertaken by the studios.
Dorothy’s account of the sinking and the suffering she endured filming “Saved from the Titanic” are predominantly found in two sources - The New York Dramatic Mirror and Moving Picture World. These were trade magazines, published weekly, and consisting solely of material related to the stage and screen business. These would be announcements of upcoming features, casting news, celebrity gossip, technical news - anything the movie star to the man sweeping the floor at the cinema needed to know. And they included ads … lots and lots of ads.
Immediately realizing that Titanic was not only a horrible tragedy but an incredible business opportunity, Moving Picture World got to work. As people stormed White Star Line offices, and raided newspaper carts for any drop of news regarding the sinking, Moving Picture World provided the latest in Titanic news; or perhaps we should say “Titanic” news.
The headlines of the April 27th issue may have screamed TITANIC, but as the public grabbed their copy and hurriedly flipped through the pages, they found that what they were actually given was ads. Those eye grabbing headlines were followed by much smaller print-
TITANIC EFFORTS... are being exerted by Champion to put before the exhibitors that will make them regular Champ Patrons! Get the following latest [releases] and you’ll be convinced!.
UNSINKABLE … is the reputation of Rep productions, but these two releases will sink into the minds of everyone who sees them and will remain there as worthy object lessons.
THE CRY OF THE CHILDREN …suggested by the poem of Elizabeth Barret Browning in 2 reels this Tuesday!
THE GREATEST MOTION PICTURE OF NATIONAL INTEREST - THE SINKING OF…. the big battleship. Remember the Maine!
THE DEATH SHIP...a sensational two reel drama of the sea containing one of the most thrilling dynamite explosions imaginable!
For all the slimy marketing tricks, flipping through the pages still has plenty of legitimate ads for real Titanic newsreels, movies, and a specific type of presentation known a Myriorama involving painting, music, and recitation. But, show business would strike again - the ads were legitimate, but what they were advertising was not. History has sort of forgotten the huge demand for Titanic media in the wake of the sinking, something that didn’t really exist. When cinema owners would order these “only surviving genuine negatives of the disaster” complete with lobby display package, they instead received-
our astonishment to find the Lusitania and Olympic, and one or two scratch films of ancient days posing as pictures of Titanic.
But they didn’t stop. Animated Weekly advertised that they were “the first to reach the wreck… chartered a tug from Cape Breton and rushed to the scene while the survivors were still in the water”. Cinemas began to promote footage of the sinking. Audiences wrote their disgust to Moving Picture World-
These representations are to the point of criminality … Take, for instance, the picture showing the Titanic with about a sixth of her forward length stuck into the iceberg. Everybody knows the collision did not occur in that manner!
They pointed to the following ad as an example - FIRST PICTURES OF THE TITANIC OCEAN DISASTER. The cinema owners responded by noting that they had misread, crammed in tiny letters were the words “sunk in” so that ad actually read FIRST PICTURES OF THE TITANIC sunk in OCEAN DISASTER. It was the customer's fault, they said, to be stupid enough to think anyone could have actually filmed the sinking.
Once this ruse was discovered, the studios shifted gears. The next step was to advertise film along with presentations by “A Lecturer who was on board”. When the audience realized the lecturer was not on Titanic and demanded a refund - the response from the managers was
Those signs didn’t say he was a survivor.
… and any attempt to charge him with the crime of fraud was absurd because, in his own words-
Of course I didn’t give him his money back. The sign didn’t misrepresent anything. West was on the Titanic, the sign didn’t say when he was.
…which was true. The lecturer, Eugene West, had visited Titanic while she was under construction at Belfast.
As for the movies themselves?
We said we had pictures. If people were foolish enough to think we meant moving pictures, that was their fault.
This particular cheated audience member was told if he wanted his money back, to go on the street and sing for it. Whether it was this, or something else, eventually the public snapped and began hauling out cinema managers and beating them in the streets. By May, the mayors of Boston and Memphis had banned the showing of any Titanic pictures - moving or still- within the city.
But, where was Dorothy in all this? Tucked in the very back of the magazine, after another newsreel ad,, we get to the celebrity sighting and gossip section. Ed Lux of the Rex Film Exchange was in town, Dan Markowitz of Fox Pictures was as well, Arthur Schmidt of the Victor Film Company was seen having a lovely spa at a Turkish Bath, Sam Gobel of the St Louis Motion Picture Company has been walking up and down 42nd street, we don’t know if Southern film maker Henry Wasserman is still here but he might be, Dorothy Gibson survived the sinking of the Titanic, and the Director of Selig Pictures took some actresses to Santa Catalina for a swim and a photoshoot and they had a great time.
By the following edition, on May 2nd, Moving Picture World was also able to provide its readers with the first stills from “Saved from the Titanic” and a feature on Dorothy. Along with this, tucked in the editorials, the magazine finally published a piece of truthful news about the Titanic disaster-
Senator William Alden Smith … declined to grant permission to have the cinematopgraph make a record of the sessions of the committee. “The sessions” he is quoted as saying…”are solemn affairs and must not be hippodromed or commercialized”. He is, however, falling into a serious error in judgement-
…they sniffed.
As a matter of right, the camera man ought to have been permitted. The day of the enfranchisement of the motion picture will surely come .. which will give equal rights to the cinematographer and the newspaper man.
Then, among the illegal false advertising and reports of public brawls at the cinema, they ended with-
The lesson of the Titanic disaster and all its incidents can be made far more impressive by pictures that move than by mere words in cold letters.

2024.05.14 15:08 Loose_Geologist_6590 AITA for cheating on my wife while she was pregnant

I (34M) and my wife (31F) have never really tried for a child, we're pretty financially stable as I am a software engineer and she works in public relations.
This isn't as bad as it sounds. My wife got pregnant around 9 months ago, we always use protection so I wasn't sure if it was mine. But I didn't push further as I was pretty happy we were gonna bring a child into this world.
Around 5 months I noticed my wife has been going out a lot and staying late, I thought this was because of her pregnancy. But then I decided to go through her phone, and realized she had tindr.
I was going to talk to her but decided against it cause I didn't really trust her anymore. Fast forward a month-ish ago we went on a vacation to Greece where I met a nice girl, lets call her Anastasia.
My wife and I haven't been active in bed because of her pregnancy and I was feeling down due to finding her tinder.
At first I just talked to Anastasia as a friend but my wife is easily jealous and overprotective so she forbid me speaking to her. This probably is the first fight that got serious and she started throwing things and I did too.
At night I decided to go out to the pool to cool off where I saw Anastasia, I was immediately reminded of the fight and to get a sense of revenge I flirted with Anastasia a bit. Anastasia (28F) was finishing her masters and was well educated.
She and me instantly clicked as I learned she was studying software engineering too. Long story short we made meeting up a thing and although it was friendly at first we soon got comfortable and started making out.
I vented to her about everything and how I thought my wife was cheating. Right now, my wife is in the hospital due to pregnancy complications and I kept in touch with Anastasia. But my wife invaded my privacy and went through my phone and saw messages with Anastasia. She was enraged to say the least.
I asked her about the tinder profile now, and she said it was nothing and that she trusted me. Im thinking of filing for the divorce and getting custody of my child, my friends say im a asshole but my family is in support.
I honestly just wanna be happy again before all this drama. So AITA??

2024.05.14 15:07 ilovecatsverymuch24 AITA for not wanting this girl to be part of our friend group?

This may sound like a high school drama because it is 💀. I (16F) have a classmate named Cassandra, we don't interact much and she is part of Riley's friend group. Riley's group kinda consists of nine girls and she's one of them, she's pretty close to them and I've been pretty neutral towards her. Until one day when my friends, Melissa and Doug decided to go to the mall, Cassandra wanted to come so we allowed her but one of her friends told us to be cautious of her because she guilt trips people into giving her money. From that moment I have grown suspicious of her, and it just began to get worse when I managed to be in a group activity with some of her friends and they told me about how she was taking advantage of them. However I was fine with my suspicions since she wasn't interacting with me and my friends.
Then one day, she sat beside my friend Melissa and Doug. And I don't know the term (English is not my first language sorry) but it's that moment when someone is trying to get close to you? The thing is that she's trying to fit in with us but it's just not working because we have nothing in common with her, being academically may be a start but man she's like absent for like 75% of the school year and never attends any of her group practices (I know this because there were many times that I was grouped with her).
And honestly I knew that she was trying to get close to us because Riley's friend group can see through her bullshit already, so she's obviously hopping on another ship to save herself from sinking I suppose. I didn't like it so my petty teenager ass decided to post an Facebook My Day post where she is the only one that can see it, the post was a TikTok video stating "POV: That one person that keeps following your friend group everywhere in school", and honestly it's very true to what she's doing because she follows us around ALL the time and speaks like once in a blue moon.
She saw the post and chatted me "Is this post about me?" and said that if I had a problem with her then I should say it, I then replied to her saying that I'm just confused on why she's being close with us now since she's usually with Riley's friend group and I dont want her friend group (that cheats on exams all the time, birds of feather flock together I guess) that we're stealing her or something. She then explained that it's not the case and she just has a misunderstanding with them and stuff. I then replied that, it was good that she was assuring that her friend group won't think that we are stealing her or something and she can definitely make new friends with other classmates.
However my friend Melissa said that she didn't do anything wrong to us so we shouldn't mind what she did to her previous friend group, my sister in Christ you sound like a Kommandant in 1940s not giving a shit what Hitler is doing to Jews because he's not doing it to you anyways.
I'm reflecting a bit now and I have this braincell telling me that I'm an asshole for not making her part of our friend group but there's this other braincell that doesn't have any people pleasing qualities, telling me that the people I want to be associated with should be my choice and I honestly don't want to be associated of taking in another classmate, because her friend group doesn't like her anymore, also its good that I'm keeping her away because I want to make sure that my friends wouldn't be taken advantage of. Anyways AITA?

2024.05.14 15:06 sebol011 Engineer needing a backup plan

I’m 28, an engineer living in the US and I don’t enjoy engineering work as I’ve experienced it but I’m trying to hold out a little longer to get into work i believe I would really love. However I’m at a point I need a good plan B for if/when I’m ready to change careers.
Until I was a senior in high school I thought I was going to go into some form of wildlife biology/zoology but years of people telling me I’d be a good engineer and how much better money and job security it had I gave in. I got my degree in biological engineering thinking it would be the best aligned with my interests and easiest to change back to biology if I wanted, but then I really enjoyed the curriculum. I began looking for jobs in an environmental or water resources role but had trouble finding jobs because recruiters didn’t know what my degree was. I’ve worked as an agricultural engineer doing conservation and sustainability work for a federal agency and as a civil engineer working on infrastructure and land development projects for a consulting firm. Neither job I’ve enjoyed enough to see myself doing until I retired. As a student and intern I learned about ecological and habitat restoration work which I’m still really interested in doing. Both jobs I’ve been at have been involved with that but I’ve been on different teams and haven’t been able to get experience or training in those skills. This year I committed to start paying for my own training but there are very few firms doing that work in my region and there are almost no openings.
I stopped getting to help with field work when COVID began and have since realized that most engineering work is being stuck in an office staring at a computer and it drives me crazy. I would much rather do something where I could be active for part of my job and/or work outdoors for part of the week.
My main interests are wildlife and nature, outdoor recreation, and exercise. The current options I’m considering are wildlife biology, personal training, or starting an aquaponic farming business. Wildlife biology would probably be the best to work in something I’m really interested in doing but the thought of paying for a masters degree just to take a significant pay cut is hard to justify. The other too are things I enjoy at a hobby scale but I don’t know if it’s feasible or if I’d enjoy it enough to scale to a full time job.
What are some important considerations with my current options and more paths I should research?

2024.05.14 15:01 FarragutCircle Reading The Big Book of Cyberpunk, Week 16

Welcome to Reading The Big Book of Cyberpunk!
Each week we (u/FarragutCircle and u/fanny_bertram) will be reading 5-ish stories from Jared Shurin’s The Big Book of Cyberpunk, which includes a curated selection of cyberpunk stories written from 1950 to 2022! We’ll include synopses of the stories along with links to any legally available online versions we can find. Feel free to read along with us or just stop by and hear our thoughts about some cyberpunk stories to decide if any of them sound interesting to you.
Every once in a while, we reach out to people who have more insight, due to being fans of the author or have some additional context for the story. (Or we just tricked them into it.) So please welcome u/Kopratic who will be sharing their thoughts on "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale" by Philip K. Dick!
Section 4: Challenge
In our fourth and penultimate section, editor Jared Shurin highlights how cyberpunk looks at technology that creates harm when put into practice, and later cites Marshall McLuhan about artists as challengers. (Shurin really seems to like this McLuhan guy.) Amusingly there’s a footnote where he mentions litrpg in passing, though he says there’s no litrpg in this anthology)
“We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick (published 1966; also available in his collection Selected Stories of Philip K. Dick)
Quail’s desire to go to Mars leads him to a memory-implant company so he can remember going to Mars, but complications and revelations and twists ensue, hilariously.
“Speed” by Misha (1988)
I think that Speed is looking for Speelyi-427 on behalf of a computer AI called Juno 888, but after that I’m lost.
“Computer Friendly” by Eileen Gunn (1989; also available in her collection Stable Strategies and Others)
Elizabeth and other kids are tested, and while she passes with flying covers, her new friends might lose their lives unless she can figure out a way to help them in a world where the heavily computerized future uses real brains from people and dogs.
“I Was a Teenage Genetic Engineer” by Nisi Shawl (1989)
The narrator is imprisoned for her reckless genetic engineering, making new incarnations of old gods.
“The Gene Drain” by Lewis Shiner (1989)
A generation ship ends up right back on Earth, with disturbing and amusing differences between the two groups.
That’s it for this week! Check back the same time next week where we’ll be reading and discussing "Deep Eddy" by Bruce Sterling, "The Yuletide Cyberpunk Yarn, or Christmas_Eve-117.DIR" by Victor Pelevin, "Wonderama" by Bef, "comp.basilisk FAQ" by David Langford, and "Spider's Nest" by Myra Çakan.
Also posted on Bochord Online.

2024.05.14 15:01 aznpersuazion Is Software Engineering a Good Job in 2023?

To preface this post, I want to give the disclaimer that like many things, there is not a black and white answer the question. I'm writing this as an experienced tech professional, and the information provided is based on opinion.
To start with. A little bit of history..
The golden age of software engineering(and similar jobs) is over. At least for the next 5 - 10 years. I don't think this is an unpopular opinion. The reason why between the years of 2010 - 2022, these jobs exploded, was because of the boom of the internet for commercial and personal use.
This is different from the dotcom boom of 2000s, where the internet was just starting and most of the products being created were for basic things like: putting banking on the internet, putting videos on the internet, etc.
The boom in the 2010s was related to the widespread popularity of commercial and personal products. Things like Uber, Spotify, and Salesforce. With the sudden increased usage of the digital world, there were MILLIONS of companies rushing to create digital products.
However, we're starting to see the rise and fall of some of these products, millions of startups failings, and less VC funding. In case you don't know, VC stands for Venture Capital, which are basically investment companies that give money to other companies to help them grow and develop, in return for partial ownership of the company.
As the industry began to mature, successful companies started to emerge, and many more started to fail.
The present day..
Software engineering and like jobs will continue to be important, and there will be a high demands for these engineers. Nearly every company will still need a website, a place to manage their data, and people to manage their hardware. BUT.. the basic technologies they need to run their company will become more efficient. AND there will be less research and innovation because the a lot of the trial and error already occurred.
We're in a weird spot where the demand for workers is now decreasing from it's recent peaks, and the supply of workers is now increasing because of how all the benefits of being a software engineer in the past decade.
This has really unfortunate consequences for any recent graduates or others trying to break into the tech field. There are WAY more beginning career people than jobs available. Which is made even worse with the amount of layoffs there are, where mid-level employees are now having to settle for entry level jobs.
What can we do?
I have two pieces of advice for people interested in the topic, or wanting to break into the field but can't. Try breaking in from a adjacent field, where you can get some exposure to tech. Things that data entry, analytics(this can be finance, supply chain etc). Then try to learn as much as you can from the tech people at your company.
The second piece of advice. Go into a different field. Software engineering is not for everyone. You have to learn and understand some relatively complex topics, and it's becoming harder and harder to be competitive in the industry. Healthcare, supply chain, and many other industries are booming right now.
Understanding history, you can see that certain industries will rise and fall. For the near future, technology might be one of the harder careers to break into. Something like healthcare would be that's expected to grow exponentially. The average population of the world is getting older, as less and less people are wanting to have kids. There will be higher demand for healthcare professionals and healthcare technology.
Do your best to review and understand these trends, and hopefully you can create a good life and career. Best of luck!

So we broke up 2 weeks back it was 5 years long relationship (2.5 years LDR) she cheated on me kept on seeing other guys for one month, and then cheated on him with me too,
I was in deep anxiety at that time but I made peace with it and ranted out on her badly she just took it all idk how (I wouldn't have tbvh)
She wanted to stay friends but I ended up blocking her and we fought again and ended it mutually
She owe me money (approx 120K), she used to struggle financially and I kept on paying her rent and stuff (clothes, shoes, food, basic needs) she lost her job too and couldn't get into college (again finance), her parents doesn't support her enough financially
I miss her ngl but I don't wanna get back to her that's I am sure, once a cheater always a cheater
Should I call her and ask my money back on her birthday which is this week only? I don't wanna be too harsh but kinda want a revenge too, also her final sem exams are from next week too
Should I ask for it and make it a little bit ugly or should I stay cool (I am very shy guy, introvert af and loyal too but kinda want to see her suffer idk why maybe out of jealousy)
PS - she has lot of anxiety and depression from past 2-3 years(she is going to therapy no regularly again finance problem and she is on meds too), she is suicidal (has 20+ cuts on her arm) she says she went into depression because of my negligence in the relationship but I was always there to confront her every time she used to cry and all friends left her because of this but I kept on confronting her

2024.05.14 14:54 AdSecret219 Looking for advice regarding switch

Hey everyone, need some advice here. So, I've got a shot at internally transferring to SOC Engineer, but I'm on the fence. Right now, I'm pulling in around $120k as a data center tech (hourly with OT), but this new role would be a fixed $90k salary. Money's not my main concern but thought I’d bring it up; it's more about the actual work. Seems like I'll mostly be troubleshooting NVRs and badge readers, basically monitoring/troubleshooting physical access control systems. Should I continue with the process for a move into cybersecurity, or hold out for something where I'm hands-on with more traditional cybersecurity tasks? To add, it's a FAANG company, if that makes any difference. Appreciate any insights!

2024.05.14 14:48 A_Klockwork_Orange Comp plans shared here have me feeling shafted

Comp plans discussed here have me feeling burnt
I sell structures that have a lot of moving parts and come packaged with a full suite of supporting equipment so it takes a lot of technical knowledge, time and effort assessing each customer’s need, and how we can value engineer a solution that works for the budget.
I get 0.5% and a $75k base for structural material sales (agricultural). Consistently a top earner and one of the two top reps in terms of technical knowledge. Pulled around $106k last year off of $5M invoiced.
They then moved me from my sales estimating/design role (technical sales, only dealing with qualified large scale accounts, not responsible for much more than doing the presentation and adjusting quotes) to full-cycle sales (qualifying, closing, quoting, etc) which is much more responsibility (at least 2x fold).
However, they kept my comission structure the same as when I was estimating, with the excuse that my base rate is 2x the other reps (their comission rate is 1.25% vs my .5%, I get $36/hr they get $18/hr). They also took away my 1 week per month of WFH while the senior rep gets full time WFH, despite me outperforming him consistently in terms of activity and entered dollars. When confronted about this, the track record “isn’t proven enough”
Even with no pipeline (I didn’t get direct leads when I was estimating for the other rep’s leads), in the past year I have sold 2x more than the senior rep (only guy above me in this division, who has been with the company over 10 yrs), and closed a $600k deal which would be our company’s most high-profile/prominent project last month. I am immensely ambitious and hungry, with the results to back it up, but this company seems hellbent on keeping me from advancing my career
Seeing a lot of the folks comp plans here has me feeling like I’m getting fucked hard. I’m 27 and have been in sales/estimating for 3.5 yrs at this company for reference. Worked in industry before, which is why I’m so much more knowledgeable vs other reps. I talked to my manager about these concerns and he said “I make plenty for a 27 yr old” which made me see red. Leapfrogged him and discussed with his boss (3rd in command) who will be “looking into options” which seems like a cop-out.
Any tips on getting a better pay structure when ownership/management act like a bunch of chodes? Job market is soft in my field so getting competitive offers has been slow going. I’ve made millions every year for this company but asking for just .2% comission increase seems to be like pulling teeth. Ownership is so greedy here. $120-140M/yr but there’s never any money for the reps….
Morale here is so low, but all the reps love eachother like family, it’s really just the top 5 managers ruining the entire company for the rest of us (I can go on and on about how under qualified they are for their positions). Ideally would like to stay at this company as I bought a home in the area last year, but logic is telling me it’s time to rip off the bandaid.

2024.05.14 14:32 bigmad99 Paying a CTO/founding engineer before incorporating

I want to hire a cto and a founding engineer for a mix of equity and salary.
I have some friends and family ready to invest in me too, so I was hoping I could take their money and use it to pay engineers but I am not incorporated or any of that.
I was confused about the legalities of both taking money and then paying people without being incorporated.

Sanjay Kapoor cheated on Maheep Kapoor early in their marriage and they’re still married. Would you tolerate it?
For me, this is a very interesting topic. I’ve never had to think about my partner being unfaithful but if that were ever the case, I don’t think I’d be so casual about it. What is it about fame and money that makes people accept that their spouse will cheat on them? Also this whole group of women including Gauri Khan give their husbands too much leeway. Which is also unfortunate because they have to. They’re too dependent on their husbands for their lifestyles.

2024.05.14 14:24 Busy-Philosophy-3179 Alleged cheating of 30 Lakhs by Arya Anil, serial actress

Alleged cheating of 30 Lakhs by Arya Anil, serial actress
Arya is a serial actress, familiar to TikTok and Insta audience through reels.
Recently there has been a revelation that she cheated a guy of 30 + Lakhs. It seems there is truth in it as the guy approached court first and police had to file FIR in Court order.
As per guy’s version, both were in relationship - as a family in his words -, and marriage was fixed and he helped them build a house and helped her with money for study in Bangalore and all. Also seems she was using his scooter till recently.
She seems to returned 5 lakhs as Othutheerp, but blocked him later eventually him going to court.
She is married recently and is stating she has no role in this. But seems the guy is loaded with evidence.

2024.05.14 14:24 Willing-History-1896 Imperius is was imperius does

My supposed marriage to taylor is fraudulent. We have never had direct contact except possibly I gave her a car ride home once. At which time, I was put under an imperius curse which she believed was a fae deal.
I intend to untie (more un-leash) myself with her.
I believe she has something equivalent to mercury poisoning, her toes give me the exact symptoms of mercury poisoning.
I had no reason to believe I was married to her, and I've heard that she actually has multiple such bonds at any given time.
I've not been a good man, but I haven't been a predator either. She predated me. Created a false 'fae deal' which amounted to an imperius curse.
My 17 y/o girlfriend from 20 years ago when I was 22 was a legal one. I loved her as well as a dumb young man can, and I wasn't good to her. Not as a man should be with a woman, anyway.
I'm not obsessed with 'teen' sexually, but I was. I genuinely find women funny and interesting, and enjoy their content, but I believe I'm over the 'cute' thing.
I want to be released from taylors leash. I think she has the psychological equivalent of mercury poisoning, and is in renal failure. I literally experience the exact symptoms of mercury poisoning when she steps on my toes.
I also want to put away the piping across the board until I can get a safer situation for myself, as my 'cheating' gets me and whomever else punished.
I suspect the leash-users we all know and love are addicted to it, abuse the practice, and are confusing a fae deal for an imperius curse. Some may have multiple at once.
I intend to break the connection to her asap. I don't care about the money, I can't live my life this way. Besides, marriage fraud is marriage fraud, we aren't married on my end at all. Hell, we never even made physical contact.

2024.05.14 14:23 Kibbles_n_Bombs Deciding between two boats

Looking for thoughts deciding between two sailboats.
The first one is a wing keel Sabre 34 aft cabin layout. It’s been very well maintained and shows well, but is light on equipment. The lines are also not setup the way I would prefer. 23 year old engine with a new transmission, 8 year old mainsail, and 6 year old Genoa. Standing rigging unknown. Put on the hard every winter and stored indoors. This boat is priced at about my max budget, and is located 10 hours away, requiring me to hire a captain to bring it down with me.
The other is a caliber 33. Convertible cutter rig, and a brand new Beta engine. This boat seems to have been cruised extensively. More equipment and systems (dinghy, solar, ais, Mack pack), but overall this boat has been used much more and maintained to a lower standard. The mast step/base shows a lot of corrosion, missing seacocks on thru hulls. Sails appear crisp but are of an unknown age. This boat is listed for 10K less than the Sabre and is located nearby so it would only be a two day trip to get her home.
I know the Sabre will be faster, but I’m not a racer. The caliber offers a lot, and with the money saved from purchase and transport I could correct a lot of the maintenance items/repairs. I just really love the Sabre layout and cockpit.
Other miscellaneous concerns: Sabre: -Cored hull -I would be spending 3-4K on safety equipment right off the bat -keel bolts and mast step -no money leftover for upgrades. Less money leftover for repairs
Caliber -cracks radiating from where mast penetrates the deck -unable to verify keel material. Other calibers were steel shot and resin -wiring layout appears pretty wonky

2024.05.14 14:22 Legitimate-Sky-6820 Aircraft production and potencial plans on what additional versions of planes would be like

In my opinion it is rather disappointing that warthunder is limited to reality, this has meant that many a plane just doesnt really compete well due to the limitations of the war. Luckily in this replacements game universe we can just give all the right people a lot more attention and say in the design of aircraft.
Of course the biggest issue with something like this is making and designing planes to actually perform like a plane would at the time. For this i think groups will need to exist that discuss and collaborate on how planes will function. For example american planes gota look american, but on that same line of logic a lot has to be discussed like fuel selection, gun types and layout, and most importantly imo what kind of diffrent version people will be able to use.
We could for example give any plane some extra lower caliber guns to make them better fighters, and we can give bomber hunters a turret or 2 to make them more viable in a broad range of uses.
At the same time we couls, for example, make multiple version of the ki-83 one as a heavy fighter, one as bomber hunter (its actually built version) one as a heavy fighter with a top and bottum gunner, in whatever config would be most usefull.
A big balancing point in this game can be what the plane can actualy do instead of how much money said gov was ready to spend on the engine.
For example one might want to fly a plane with minimal weight and armor to fly faster, or you might want the heaviest armor version of the plane for certain types of mission.

2024.05.14 14:21 Electrical_Secret_11 2003 Camry Misfire

typically my pops n I are pretty well versed with working on our 2003 Camry (4cyl) that we've had since 05, 318k miles no doubt. we've recently have been trying to trace down a cyl 1 misfire and after doing both ignition coils and spark plugs. All 4 brand new, Denso coils and iridium plugs. At highway speed and around town the check engine light will flash then go away so it's an interment issue. at 70 mph she's really not happy but if I push it to 80 and keep the RPM up its not AS bad but its still running semi rough. Before it was really bad and would misfire all over the place on cold start, after spark plugs its better but still a little unhappy. For reference cylinder 1 spark plug was pretty white all around, the others were due but cyl 1 was certainly an outlier. Idek what to do anymore cuz throwing money at it like it's a 240sx isn't doing much at this point. what are yall's opinion ?

2024.05.14 14:15 Tasty-Letterhead9090 Former employer owes me a lot of money, refused to make me W2 to avoid taxes, etc

I worked for a company for 2 years. They did a LOT of shady things and owe me a lot of money. They owe me an entire month's worth of wages by lying to me (and other employees) claiming money was on the way, but it never came. They also incorrectly paid me for only 20 work days a month for most of my time there. They also said the only way they'd make me a W2 employee was if I took $500/month less. Desperate to get insurance, I agreed to this extortion, but they still never made me W2. A few months later they cut my hours in half (essentially) cutting my salary in half without any sort of adjustment to my contract. Then, they soon laid me off and, since i was never made W2, I couldn't get unemployment benefits.
Also, they laid me off because they screwed up and hired a high priced engineer when they couldn't afford it, so they had to get rid of me to be able to pay that person. They lied about why they were laying me off, claiming they were completely out of money( even saying things like "I guarantee you have more money in your bank account than we do!").
I'm wondering what I should do. I filed a demand of wages with the state, but you know how that goes.

2024.05.14 14:12 Enaretos How Valve could deal with cheaters

At lunch break today us boys were reviewing our last couple of premier games and how there was once again a full stack of cheaters in there.
With the anti-cheat and a brand new Overwatch right around the corner, we figured out a fun approach Valve could have towards cheaters.
Our draft would be something like the following :
  1. When a cheater gets vac banned, it should be permanent and a trade ban be issued as well, then all skins should be confiscated by Valve on the grounds of whatever abuse the use of cheats represents towards the company.
  2. The cheap skins could be given as a reward to overwatch users for reviewing games, on a successful ban.
  3. More expensive skins could then be added to a weekly lottery pool, that the whole playerbase could enter individually for the price of a single case key’s worth per week.
This way Valve gets extra coin, further maintaining the anti-cheat (it does cost money), or whatever they wanna spend it on (esports, better servers, ...).
Players get a chance at nice skins for "cheap" and cheaters will mald over lost skins.
Idk if this works at all from a legal standpoint, but with skins being digital assets and knowing we already can have our games removed from our libraries on other storefronts, I'm of the mind that they wouldn’t get into much legal trouble.
Thoughts?

2024.05.14 14:07 lincoln1nebraska2 Class cost

I am in the Wayne/Macomb Advantage program for engineering. I have been accepted at WSU but have not started there yet. Instead, I am taking classes at Macomb to save money. What is the average cost for one semester class at Wayne? For example, if I were to take a calculus class... what am I looking at to spend. Community colleges are so much cheaper.
