2024.05.12 20:19 InfiniteYG001 My setup after 1 year of findings
I used to always scroll through reddit and dream of having my own setup. Now I do and it sounds amazing. Each thing was a steal for the price. Turntable is a technics sl1400 mk1 and I got it for 80 bucks on offerup and it wasn't spinning but turned on so I took it to a place to repair for 200. Now it runs perfectly. Got a schiit mani because I see everyone speaks highly of it and it definitely sounds very good. submitted by InfiniteYG001 to BudgetAudiophile [link] [comments] My cd player I got it from goodwill for 10 bucks. I also got myself a wiim mini for streaming. I am got myself a yamaha avr for 25 bucks. Now for the speakers. I found thrifting a Sony APM 3000 which sounds beautiful especially in the high and mids. My friend gave me these tower speakers from a discounted brand called elemental design a6-6t6. The reciever can use 2 pairs of speakers as front speakers so when I ran both of them together it sounded sooo much better because I was getting the best of the high end and low end. I tried one at a time but it felt very hollow and empty compared to when I played them together they sounded very full. Just wanted to share my happiness of my setup :) |
2024.05.10 00:02 liamanna My collection
Started collecting in 1984 ish… when I got into DJing… Most off them are 12”singles. The turntables are from 1989 and are still in mint condition… submitted by liamanna to vinyl [link] [comments] This is my happy place. I would estimate around 3000. I also added DVS with Serato-DJ and using Tidal to stream music to the decks. Hope you guys like it… |

2024.04.11 22:34 MapUp8 B&O Beogram 3000 + Beomaster 3300(?) — help!
I was about to buy a Fluance RT83 and was lucky enough to pull these from my grandparents’ attic. Would love to know anything more about them, and as a novice who has a little knowledge from recent research, what would be needed to make them functional? submitted by MapUp8 to turntables [link] [comments] —Photos 1+2: B&O Beogram 3000 (there is a lid as well). Plugs seen in photo 1 —3-5: I think is Beomaster 3300? Wire rather than plug coming out of it I couldn’t get everything down from the attic in one go, there’s also a Beomaster 4500, Beocord tape recorder and a few other boxes I can’t get to yet. I don’t think speakers though, so would like to know what would be compatible. Any information greatly appreciated! |

2024.04.05 03:50 graydog_97 My setup has reached a new peak! (Details below)
Hey everyone! Posted around a month ago with a similar post, but since then a lot has changed. submitted by graydog_97 to BudgetAudiophile [link] [comments] Receiver: JVC JR-S201 (mfg 1978), got it for $55 on marketplace as non-working but works fully! Guy was awesome, gave me a free Technics SA-300! Turntable: Bang and Olufsen Beogram 1602 (mfg 1978), got it for believe it or not $10 this week at the thrift store. Works flawlessly and sounds amazing. Still working out where to put the ground cable but oh well CD/Tape: Nakamichi CP-1 (unknown mfg), got it from the same thrift as the turntable for just $4, sold as having a broken record player but works perfect. CD tray wants to immediately retract back inside when you eject, but it stays open long enough to slide one in lol Speakers (monitor): Polk Monitor 4A (mfg ~1984), same thrift store for $4 as well! They sound great especially for the size and see well built. Perfect for the turntable Speakers (tower): currently rocking some Polk RT-16’s I got for around $25 on marketplace but I’ve got my dad’s old setup on standby in another room to replace them. Infinity Overture 3’s coming in soon! Let me know what y’all think, I think I’m doing really good for being just under $100 total for it all! |

2024.04.01 01:02 swb502 Stereophile Lowest Cost A Rated List
Hello All, submitted by swb502 to audiophile [link] [comments] Every year I like to go though the Stereophile A rated list for the lowest cost items in each category. This year there wasn't much movement in the lowest cost items. nor items in general. I marked the categories with a drop in price year over year; 2024 Stereophile Lowest Cost by Catagory The largest drop, was $3,000 from the Systems JBL4329P to Klipsch The Nines with a second drop from the Arcam Radia A25, still a massive $2,500 drop from last years Anthem STR Integrated. The other drops were a few hundred each. The Arcam does look to be a really good deal as they go. I'm still running a Technics SL-1700, Little Bear Phono and Decware DIY kit with Bookshelf Tekton Lores. switched out the domes on the Lores after my kids crushed them. I'm still on the fence if I should try a KEF or the Zu DWX. Hope you all enjoy the list this year. |
2024.03.19 01:05 CorezG There's some horns in this house 🔊
I've now spent ~3 weeks with this pair of Technics SB-E200 and they continue to impress...I think they'll be sticking around for quite some time 🤘 submitted by CorezG to audiophile [link] [comments] I've had a hankering to test out a set of horn-loaded speakers, and was on the verge of firing up an Altec 604 build but the cost and the size of the cabinets I'd need for proper full range sound had me waffling a bit. As I was weighing out the pros and cons of the Altecs, these popped up for sale locally at approximately half the cost, so I jumped on them to see if they'd scratch the itch. Long story short: they're pretty amazing and the sound they put out is up there among the best I've heard. The horns are very mild mannered and not at all shouty, which I was worried about (especially in my room, which has some quirks). They've got a very neutral sound signature without being clinical or dry. They're capable of amazing realism, and high quality live recordings have you feeling like you've been transported right to the venue. They're squeezing tons of detail out of songs that I've never heard before, and the soundstage they throw is huge thanks to the 150° dispersion of the horns. For cabinets of this size they pull off an incredible disappearing act that's reminiscent of small bookshelf speakers, which I love. Mids and highs are incredibly articulate and organic sounding to my ears. The bass is taught and punchy, never ever sloppy thanks to the 12" paper woofers. I've never heard kick drums sound so realisric in my space! The only critique I've got so far is that they don't go quite as low as I'd like in my room, so a sub is likely in order in the near future (leaning towards an SVS 3000 micro at the moment). I know the Technics are capable of digging quite deep, as the bass goes remarkably low when watching movies, but they refuse to colour the music by adding any extra low end when fed anything via my node or my turntable. I'm going to have the crossovers rebuilt with some new capacitors in the near future and see where that gets me as well. Here's the state of the system at the moment: -Technics SB-E200 speakers -Yamaha A-S1100 integrated -Node 2i -Thorens TD-165 modded w/ Original Live Rega tonearm and Hana SL cart, all fed into a Parks Audio SUT All in all this is the best my system has ever sounded, so I'd say mission accomplished! Happy listening y'all 🤙 |
