Buying Guide for Acne-Fighting Face Washes:
When choosing a face wash for acne-prone skin, consider the following factors:
  1. Ingredients: Look for active ingredients such as salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, or tea tree oil, known for their acne-fighting properties. These ingredients help unclog pores, reduce inflammation, and prevent future breakouts.
  2. Skin Type: Consider your skin type and any specific concerns you may have, such as sensitivity or dryness. Choose a face wash that is suitable for your skin type to avoid exacerbating existing issues.
  3. Formulation: Opt for a gentle, non-comedogenic formula that effectively cleanses the skin without stripping away its natural oils. Foaming or gel-based cleansers are often preferred for acne-prone skin, as they help remove excess oil and impurities.
  4. Reviews and Ratings: Take into account the reviews and ratings of the product from other users. Look for feedback on its effectiveness in treating acne, its texture and scent, and any potential side effects or drawbacks.
When purchasing a face wash for acne-prone skin, consider these factors along with your personal preferences to find the best option for your skincare needs.

2024.05.14 18:04 aloebreadstick Vaginal pain

Is it normal to feel pain when pulling things out of your vagina? I always feel like a slightly burning or muted stinging pain. For example I’ll put a tampon in and it doesn’t hurt but pulling it out (not dry of course) it always seemed to hurt so last night I tested my fingers to see if it was just me and not the tampons and it caused the same pain.
I am a (21f) virgin so idk if that has to do with it but my tampons are rather small and I’ve always been like this, hasn’t really changed over time.

2024.05.14 17:58 newsouthSKN Best options for treating severe dry eye? (Ocular rosacea) Please help!

I have only recently (4 weeks ago) developed very severe dry eyes - like completely out of nowhere. I have only ever had type 1/flushing but I can only imagine this is the beginning of my ocular rosacea journey. I was a daily contact lens wearer but have not been able to wear them at all for a month.
I don't have any eye discharge or even a ton of gritty/foreign body feeling....yet. Just so incredibly dry and red dilated blood vessels that make me look insane. What is everyone's lineup for dry, red eyes?
So far I have tried:

2024.05.14 17:51 gomtenen Does hypo's also cause low potassium levels?

Tl;dr I've seen some Reddit threads and online about insulin and low potassium levels. I get 3 hypo's a day. Does that mean my electrolytes are not in balans especially potassium and that's the reason I feel weak?
I always thought that I'm deficient in something cause even if I don't have hypo's I feel muscle weakness everyday. The tiredness and muscle weakness is affecting my whole life. I don't want to do anything and it affect everything in my life. From cleaning my house and spending time with friends. I've done many blood panels and everything is always good.
I'm type 1 diabetes for 20 years and always struggle with hypo's and muscle weakness. My diet consist of potatoes, meat and fruit. And I also take b complex, multi vitamin, potassium, magnesium, zink, iron, selenium, chlorella, spirulina, fish oil.

2024.05.14 17:47 Prestigious_Air2404 A Hypothetical If You Were In My Shoes

Like a lot of people here, I don't know what to do anymore. It feels like anything you try end up being another waste of time or another failure that you don't want to face. It hurts to just do it all over and over and over again. But you keep going anyway and that's craziest part of it all.
I don't have all the time in the world to get it sorted out since my parents and siblings need me to step it up and we don't even own a house. We've rented all my life and I don't know how much longer my parents' savings will hold out. I want so badly to get out of this situation but when my environment is acid and I've probably got this thing called "ADHD" that I realize is the cause for my inability to focus and do things like a normal person, it's a lot tougher trying to get out of that hell pit. I need help. I can't ask any immediate family for help since they've got their own pile of garbage raining down on them, I don't have any skills or money, I stay at home all day, and as it turns out, getting free education or even a job at mcdonald's is a lot harder than I thought, which I should've expected since it's a third world country but damn does it hit you.
I've only recently started to get back to exercising, even for a little bit every day. I've also begun my self-study coding journey and I'm already feeling hopeless with all the news about skilled programmers getting layed off or not being able to find jobs but I won't give up on it because I enjoy it, even if my tiny brain hurts with the simplest of code. My environment is not as bad as it was a year ago so it's a little bit easier for me to do a little more each day and I'm hopeful... sort of? Of what the future will hold if I keep this up. My backup plan is essentially to try go to school again or to apply for more jobs or if I can't do any of that, probably find and marry some rich person or go against my morals and become one of those influencer scammers or something.
I initially wrote this with a not-too-bitter ending here:
I guess I'm writing this post as some sort of milestone for myself. I know what's wrong with me, I got a bit better, and I'm still working on it. I just wish I was faster, or normal, or both. I know there's people out there who have it worse and it hurts me to know that I could use all the resources I've been given to just "fix" my situation. But for now, for a little while longer, I'll be selfish and think for myself.
but what I really want is to ask you -- what would you do in this situation? Like a little challenge as if you're playing sims and this was the character you've randomized and got:
You feel foreign and can't speak the language of the country you're born in, you don't have financial help or a job or skills, you've probably got depression, your brain is wired differently so it's much harder to do things, your relationships with your parents suck so much that it's hard for you to live with them but you have no choice, your siblings are also useless on the money part but they're trying their best with their own undiagnosed mental illnesses, aaand you're in your mid 20s with uhh.. not bad health. Oh, and the world is super hot so it's twice as hard to do things but you've got the internet and a pretty good computer at your disposal.

2024.05.14 17:47 11HE Worried about lipid profile test results

I got my lipid profiles results from a blood test and am really concerned - I've looked at the wiki page which is very helpful but I still don't understand my results.
Background info: Age 30, female, cycle daily for 30 minutes and work as a nursery teacher so fairly active, eat a relatively good diet (whole foods - oats, nuts, don't drink caffeine, some fruits/vegetables). Suffer from severe anxiety so wondering if there's a correlation with cortisol/adrenaline levels but unsure. Not on any medication. History of family having high cholesterol (both mum and dad - dad from 50s, mum from 60s). Started taking vitamin B complex tablets daily around 4 years ago.
I didn't get the blood results to check cholesterol, was actually to figure out what might be causing epilepsy-like symptoms/loss of consciousness so was a shock to see these results.
Lipid profile results:
Cholesterol: 7.2mmol/l (ref range 2.5-5.0) Cholesterol:HDL ratio: 2.7 HDL Cholesterol: 2.7mmol/l (ref range 1.2-1.7) LDL Cholesterol: 4.0mmol/l (ref range 0-3.5) Non-HDL Cholesterol: 4.5mmol/l Triglyceride: 1.2mmol/l (ref range 0.4-2.3)
Other results from blood tests that were flagged was my MCHC (g/L) and that is 318 g/l (ref range 320-360) so is low but red cell count is within normal range from other results received.
If anyone could help me that would be great. Just wondering if anyone can see a pattern here or looking for general advice please. Thanks so much! :)

2024.05.14 17:43 Popular-Sink5910 Still getting sick, any advice?

Hi all, I had my gallbladder out 10 months ago and Im still getting sick even though I'm doing what people recommend with diet and vitamins. I had to wait along time and gallbladder was inflamed and cancerous packed out. I feel better in loads of ways but I still get sick quite bad.
I had to have a valve put in as they couldn't stop the bleeding and I got infection as soon as I got out of surgery and had to go a&e for a week, it was really bad.
Ive got a bit better but I can get constipated and knocked sick and or I can sick up bile or acid and recover quite fast. Im dealing with the constipation with protein shakes, high fibre diet is bunging me up and some salads and fruit are not digesting or taking ages.
I can feel my liver gets like a shock and I feel something spraying into my belly with pain to lower abdomen were my hernia or cyst is and when it fills up it knocks me sick, can see my belly just bloat up and its like it builds up over a week or 2 and bam you wake up nausea and vomiting uellow crap. I also feel if I dont eat enough as I'm on a strict diet, I will sick yellow stuff up to. The other week I had what felt like a attack, I was constipated and straining to go and caused a cyst or hernia, I thought I recovered but woke up constipated and sick again, think its the Weetabix so I swapped to eggs and avocado for breakfast, thats helping alot.
Any recommendations for this as it is making my life miserable, anyway to stop this bile or acid building up?
Many thanks in advance and take care..

2024.05.14 17:42 stillrunn AITA for exposing that my(F30) cousin (F29) fakes her orgasms?

So for context, I (F30) am a lesbian. My cousin (F29) asked me once if it was true that lesbians have sex for several hours every time, I answered that not always, but we definitely have sex many orgasms every time.
It was a joke but she got serious and asked me how many orgasms I usually have, and I told her between 3-6. She gave me a weird smile, so I asked how many she normally has? And turns out she rarely has any at all, around 80% she doesn't actually orgasm and gets tired when receiving oral sex so she just fakes it to get it over with.
The talk was quite depressing and even though I tried offering some advice, she didn't seem to believe it could improve it.
A couple weeks ago, I went to her place to hangout with her and her boyfriend (M30) it was all nice and fun, until he got tipsy and started asking me inappropriate questions about my sex life, and the typical straight man's gotcha: Why do we use dildos if we don't like men?
It was obnoxious but I'm used to it so I explained that it's just a simple tool for penetration, it can have the shape of a squid arm for all we care about, but he kept asking questions in an inquisitive tone "why are most shaped like penises then?" I said cause sex toys manufacturers make them like that and we don't care cause sex isn't about the toy at all, but no, he kept going "then doesn't that mean you need something men have?"
And more dumb questions, basically supposing that women wanting to feel pleasure from penetration (what a vagina is basically for) was the same as wanting a man. But then he got more personal, even though I told him I wasn't feeling comfortable, he wouldn't stop, and his smug smile was irritating me.
That's when I didn't hold my tongue and said that he should worry more about his own tools and techniques, so he can at least give my cousin a real orgasm for once. I said it in a joking tone, hoping he wouldn't think much of it.
But of course, to this, he didn't laugh. I started sensing the tension building and tried to help it by turning it into a real talk about how to properly pleasure a woman, which wasn't well received by my cousin who eventually stormed out, by then, her bf definitely caught up on it not being a joke.
Next morning things were very awkward, I grabbed my cousin to apologize but she was very upset, apparently learning that she was faking it most of the times broke all trust between them.
I tried to encourage her to turn this into a chance to get him to learn how to do it right, but she got even more upset and said I didn't understand anything.
I really love my cousin, she's a wonderful person and we've had a great relationship our entire life, so I would hate for this to turn into something bigger than it is... So AITA?
Tl;dr: my cousin's bf kept bugging me with sexual topics because I'm a lesbian so I exposed that my cousin fakes her orgasms and they had a fight because of it, aita?

2024.05.14 16:55 Then_Meringue_4975 This Flare Up is Wrecking my Self Esteem

This flare up began 6 days ago and shows no signs of stopping. Its kept me from going to work or going out in public. Some of the bumps are painful and they keep growing in number. I went to my dermatologist yesterday who stated it was just another rosacea flare up and prescribed me topical Opzelura and Azelaic Acid, and a low dose of Doxycycline. I know it’s only been 24 hours but it looks even worse. I can’t find the cause of the flare up, since I haven’t changed anything in my life and have avoided the typical flare culprits (I.e. spicy foods, heat, exercise, etc.)
I just want to know that I’m not alone, and that I’m not stuck like this forever. I’ve dealt with the occasional flare up of rosacea for years now, but this is the worst my skin has ever been.

2024.05.14 16:55 geneticlife HLA-B27: autoimmune diseases and potential treatment

Click here to read my full article on HLA-B27 including how to use your 23andMe or Ancestry raw data to determine if you carry HLA-B27:
People who carry the HLA-B27 serotype are at an increased risk for inflammatory-related autoimmune diseases.
Autoimmune diseases associated with being HLA B27 positive include:
Not everyone who carries the HLA-B27 serotype will have ankylosing spondylitis. But over 95% of people with ankylosing spondylitis are HLA-B27 positive.
Similarly, over 80% of people with reactive arthritis are HLA-B27 positive.[ref]
Therefore, the HLA-B27 serotype is a big risk factor for these autoimmune diseases, but it doesn’t cause the autoimmune disease by itself.
Instead, other factors must be involved that trigger the disease, such as toxicant exposure, pathogens, gut microbiome changes, diet, or lifestyle factors.[ref]
Proteins in the body, including the HLA proteins, are made up of amino acids that join and then fold up in a particular way. Researchers have found that HLA-B27 tends to misfold.
The specific subtypes of HLA-B27 associated with autoimmune diseases are likely to be misfolded or unfolded, causing problems when formed in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER).
The misfolded or unfolded proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum cause stress in that organelle. Researchers theorize that the body’s unfolded protein response mechanism causes inflammation.[ref]
Don’t freak out if you are a carrier of HLA-B27. Instead, use this information as a heads-up not to ignore health issues such as back pain.

Gut microbiome connection to HLA-B27: Probiotics to the rescue?

There is also a connection between HLA-B27 and changes to the gut microbiome.[ref]
Interestingly, spondylitis patients also showed changes in the gut microbiome with decreased F. prausnitzii and increased Bacteroides fragilis.[ref] You may want to consider getting a gut microbiome test to see if everything is in order down there.
Probiotics for HLA-B27: Animal studies show that Lactobacillus GG probiotics may help with preventing the recurrence of inflammatory bowel problems associated with HLA-B27.[ref] Although I couldn’t find a human clinical trial on Lactobacillus GG specific to people with HLA-B27

2024.05.14 16:54 Ok-Cost-8883 Hives/Zyrtec Withdrawals?

Long story short,
I had which believe an allergic reaction to my old house water (well water) so i got a water softener which at the time solved it. I was on costco allertec daily, which when i tried to stop at the time being. I was nervous maybe placebo effect? At the time? So i kept taking it and not wean off ( dumb me) so this was going on for 3-4 years.
Recently, i was in contact with something that cause my hives to come back. So here i am dosing more on zyrtec, it works some day? Not as effective as before. Then i recently realize whenever i was taking it my esophagus was closing, which at the time i thought it was just because the hives was flaring up. So i stop taking the allertec which i believe i develop an allergic reaction to some fillers in the medicine now and switch up to allegra for the time being with pepcid. Which helped me a bunch, now i get some hives during the day but alot at night time roughly at 7PM.
I tried everything, vitamins, diets laundry detergent even soaps. So everything you named i tried. So i am in this headspace if its something im allergic to or chronic hives or the withdrawals. I been off zyrtec for 3 days, it somewhat getting better at night. I cant even wean off zyrtec because im nervous i might go to the ER lol.
Any suggestion?

2024.05.14 16:26 ajdzor Extremely dizziness and feeling off

I noticed when I don't eat untill evening my mind is sharp... so I eat one banana in the morning and an apple around 13h. I eat that because when I don't eat for a prolonged time I feel like something wrong is happening, dizziness and like I'm going to faint in some moments.... And I started IF because when I eat I feel extreme fatigue, sleepiness... and I can't focus... I'm using IF as a solution to my problems, but is this smart? 188cm, 73kg, athletic, no fat... What can cause this if anyone is familiar with it... I had normal blood sugar, not anemic only my vitamin D was extremely low and I did treatment on that....

2024.05.14 16:14 External_Math_2998 Good deal on retinal

I have seen Medik8 Crystal Retinal recommended on here many times, and I have purchased it 3 times and used it over the last year. It’s a great product: smells nice, a very light almond scent; causes no flaking or purging (for me) and my understanding is retinal is stronger than retinol but not as aggressive as tretinoin. I do purge with tret. My hyperpigmentation and lines have lightened considerably in the last year; I no longer wear foundation much of the time and have had compliments in my skin. I do credit the retinal although I also used vitamin c and argereline over the last year too.
Anyway, this Medik8 crystal retinal 3 product runs $64. (There are other concentrations at different price points and I’ve only used the 3).
If you want to try it for a lower price, you can get it at Allure Beauty Box. You need to be a member. I’ve been skipping my beauty boxes the last 6 months because I have too many other products to use up. However, their member store has this product for $28, and even better, you can buy the past November box that has 7 items in it including the full size retinal for $19! (I’ve used the items in that box, I liked the dragons blood hyluronic mask, the other items are ok, but I get my retinal for even less).
Their member store offerings vary, so it might not always be available there.

2024.05.14 15:50 annimal1 Prenatals

I (29F) and my husband (35M) are trying to conceive (I do not know yet if I am pregnant, I can test in a few days). I am taking prenatal vitamins during this process, mind you only the past 4 days. I take them with dinner (as I take other meds in the morning - 200mg sertraline). Every morning I take them I have diarrhea within 10 mins of waking up, usually 2-3 bouts over the next 3-4 hours. One day I forgot to take the prenatal and the next morning was the only morning I didn’t have this diarrhea.
I am taking the OLLY prenatal gummy, it has no iron.
My question is - is this diarrhea caused by the prenatal, and if so, do I keep taking them? And if I keep taking them will my body get used to it so that diarrhea stops? I’m assuming this is the likely case as I have JUST started them, but wondering if I should try a different one to see if I respond better?
Any advice appreciated

2024.05.14 15:47 GiftedBrilliance What does this Chest X-Ray Report Mean?

Age: 28M
I do not have a History of anything. Just COVID last year, which I recovered from in a few days. This feels worse than COVID.
I am not a Smoker.
I have had Phlegm/Mucus (Yellow/Green) in the Lungs for 2 week now. It has been causing me to not be able to breathe properly and cough my lungs out trying to get some of that Phlegm outside.
I went to the ER yesterday they told me that I had a Fever and High Blood Pressure caused by my Chest Infection. They took Blood work and did a Chest X-Ray. They gave me a Steriods Inhaler, something for the fever and some cough syrup for the lungs and Vitamin C dissolving Tablets. Got a Negative COVID Test
They sent me Home afterwards and didn’t explain my Radiology Report.
I read it online Today and it stated:
Chest x-ray
Bilateral accentuated bronchovascular markings noted Bilateral diffuse vascular congestion seen Lower lung zone retrocardiac ill-defined ground-glass haziness noted Left middle lung zone atelectatic band seen Normal cardiothoracic ratio and mediastinal contour Normal. Both diaphragmatic contour Clear both costophrenic angles Normal bony cage
——————
What does Accentuated Bronchovasvular Markings mean?
What does Vascular Congestion Mean?
What does Retrocardiac ill-defined ground-glass haziness?
What does Atelectatic Band seen mean?
I’m very confused because they told me that my lungs are fine and that its just a chest infection.
Any Radiologists here can explain what any of this means?

i’ve been trying for over 2 years to sort this out. i’ve spent loads on different dilators and sex toys, i dilated regularly for a couple of months, i’ve been examined to see if there’s anything else wrong with me. nothing. absolutely nothing. despite all this, it still feels like the inside of my vagina is being given a rope burn whenever i insert anything that is even close to an actual penis size. i honestly just feel like i’m never gonna get to fall in love or have a good, positive sex life. i’m so fucking upset and mad at the world. this sucks and i just don’t know what to do. i don’t know for sure but i feel as though this may have been caused by my ex SA’ing me before i lost my vaginal virginity. fuck you.

2024.05.14 15:36 GoldieJoan What are some good exfoliating serums?

Let me start with the basics so that anyone reading this can have an easier time.
Skin type: combo, acne prone, hyperpigmentation, sensitive
AM skincare routine:
PM skincare routine:
I'm thinking of replacing the axis-y serum with an exfoliating serum. My skin has gone through it lately so i don't want to overwhelm it with too many products in rotation, historically that has been bad for me. That's why I stick to a fairly simple routine with as few products as possible.
I used the revox salicylic acid serum in the past and it worked really well with a niacinamide serum to help deal with my breakouts and fade my acne scars and hyperpigmentation, but I would like to try a korean exfoliating serum. I will mention that I am veeery apprehensive about using a retinol serum as my face is a bit of a princess (for example vitamin c serums dried my skin and absolutely destroyed my skin barrier no matter how sparsely I used them). I would like to stick to something gentle (like a BHA with a lower percentage). I'm not very knowledgeable about exfoliants so some pointers and recommendations would be very helpful.

Shellos/Gastrodon

Gastrodon is the Sea Slug Pokemon, and is one of the Pokemon species introduced in Generation 4 of the franchise. It is an aquatic Pokemon that once possessed a large shell, but is now a boneless creature that typically inhabits shallow coastal areas. Most notably, Shellos and Gastrodon's appearances vary depending on where it has adapted to, and both the pink West Coast and blue East Coast variants can be found.
