2005 GMC Yukon Denali, 250k+ miles, 6.0L V8, Automatic.
TL;DR Can all of my fairly new brakes seize from just lack of use, gravel dust, and car washes?
So 2 years ago (Aug 2022) I had a major issue with tie rods, steering idler arm, pitman arm and all of that going bad and breaking at an intersection. At that time mechanic suggested replacing front brake pads and rotors while we were at it. I think there was an issue there too after the break. I had the funds, so went for it.
Fast forward to this last September 2023 I had a great deal of scraping and scratching from the rear brakes. So I brought it in and they said needed rear pads and rotors, might need calipers. Also mentioned that the backing plates were rusted through adding to the noise. They mentioned new backing plates for the e-brake system. At that time we only moved forward with the replacement of the rear pads and rotors.
I use this truck only part of the time since I have a second car. So it sits in my driveway a lot of the time. I did however drive it more this winter than I have in recent years. The alleyway that had parks in is a bit muddy and dusty from the gravel. Due to that, I frequently get car washes before I park it.
I have learned my lesson about washing and parking for long periods of time for sure.
Brought to tire shop last week to fix slow leak and rotate. Also got an oil change. Since then, my service stability light has been on. And my brakes started scraping again.
I brought it to my normal mechanic and they are saying that all four brakes are seizing. They can free up the right side but they seize again after driving.
In your opinion does this seem valid? Never have I ever had this issue in my life. It seems so much less likely after replacing the pads and rotors so recently. But also if the calipers have been slowly going bad would that ruin the pads and routers so much that they would need to be replaced so soon?
I just want to feel confident going into this after I spent nearly $2,500 a similar issue for my other car recently. It all seems like a lot. It's been a lot.

So my ex told me if I tried to relocate states I’d have something would go wrong with my car, and I’d end up getting kidnapped and treated like a pet by some random truck driver somewhere.
Now jump forward three months after I left him over other creepy and aggressive behaviours and got a protective order from the police. My car’s transmission is suddenly giving out after I had it serviced one month ago without any problems coming up then.
Worth thinking about or just coincidence? I haven’t replied to him since the night I left or seen him.
I’m 16 days out from moving states so either way very bad timing.

I’m going to try to start from the beginning and not leave a lot out and hopefully I get some feedback on what to do or how I can move forward with my situation.
So me and my girlfriend me(22m) her (24f) have been dating for almost 2 years and have a 3 month old daughter. Our relationship was perfect in the beginning couldn’t complain about anything she was perfect we were perfect. Well a couple months into our relationship I noticed her getting distant and not wanting to cuddle or touch me in general(this was before she was pregnant) so I brought it up to her and she said she just doesn’t like physical touch, but in the beginning it was like she couldn’t get her hands off me and I love physical touch or just being in the same vicinity as her so I was clueless as to why all of a sudden she didn’t want to touch or even hug me anymore. When we first started dating I moved in her apartment and she was almost 2 months behind in rent, she was a 1099 self employed cna, well her shifts kept getting denied and she didn’t have money to pay for rent or any bills, so I took some money out of my saving and helped heus out and got us back on our feet and in a good position atleast I had thought so, she finally found a job that was full time and it was a cna job but she quit after 2 days because she didn’t like it, meanwhile I was working a low paying job and couldn’t pay all our bills by myself and I asked her on more than one occasion to try and get a job that way she could help out and she finally got a job and she helped for maybe one month but she didn’t work, she cheated the system and would clock in then come home and then drive back to work before her shift was supposed to end and clock out and would forge a signature on paperwork to get paid, she did this for maybe 2 weeks before they took the gig down, she didn’t get into trouble but she was now out of a job. Well shortly afterwards we found out she was pregnant and this is when I would beg her to get a job. I ended up getting hurt at work and lost my job, so now we were both jobless and near eviction. We got evicted from our apartment and we lied and somehow got a bigger apartment than our old one and of course was more expensive. I asked her multiple times to get a job and she couldn’t/wouldn’t. She used the excuse “high risk pregnancy” which she wasn’t at all high risk, I went to every appointment with her and held her hand the whole way but I wasn’t being rude or mean to her because however she felt the baby felt aswell(least that’s what I thought). So I got job after job each job being a better paying job and tried to support the 2 of us with my daughter on the way. Well I eventually got a decent job and my girlfriend was still jobless and she decided on her own to sell her car to help pay rent/bills because we were behind 2 months again, she paid one month and used the rest of the money roughly $2,000 on our daughters nursery and small things for herself. She was 9months pregnant and we had to move back into my parents house, I had a very unreliable truck at the time and used it to move all our stuff in 19 trips with each trip being 2hr drives, me being the only one to lift things because she was pregnant, we finally got everything settled and my daughter was born shortly after that. I ended up getting a very good job where we used to live an hour away, and I needed a more reliable vehicle to get back and forth to work and my daughters appointments. Tried finding my girlfriend a vehicle but how the whole situation at the dealership went was not how I expected nor how I wanted but I ended up getting a truck. It’s more reliable than my other one, anyways she was upset I didn’t get her a vehicle and constantly blames me for her having to sell her car. We are always arguing about money/my truck/my job/still not getting any attention from her physically. I slept on our couch and the floor in our bedroom for 8months in total. She co slept with our daughter for the longest and didn’t want me on the bed because I am a heavy sleeper, understandable. Didn’t argue about it but now we sleep together same bed and we still don’t cuddle or touch each other in general. I love this girl I really do but she makes it so difficult because I crave this physical affection and I don’t receive it so I have an attitude a lot, I still do everything she asks but I do it with an attitude. Im finally to a point where I think about what life would be like without her and catch myself thinking about this a lot. I hate that I do because deep down I just want to love this girl with everything in me but she makes it so hard and I’m stuck wondering if things will get better if I stay or if I should leave. So my question is what should I do ?
P.s. she won’t let my mother hold our daughter because the stories I have told my girlfriend from when I was growing up but my mother has taken responsibility for her actions and has done better but my girlfriend doesn’t care. My mom has come to terms she will never know her granddaughter and they live in the same house…. There’s a lot more stuff that could be said but I’m leaving somethings out. but i don’t think this post will even get any attention if it does I’ll give the full story from start till now.

I know that many of you are going to say that delivering pizzas is way different from truck driving, which I'm sure is true. But the thing I really like about delivering pizzas is having that time alone in my car. I love being alone in my car listening to music. I don't have to put up with people's shit and I get time alone to myself. What are some things I should really consider before investing in getting a CDL?
Also, I have a few questions:

1. Can you still become a CDL driver with a felony on your record? I might be getting a felony on my record but it isn't violent, drug related, or driving related. I have a perfect driving record
2. Should I worry about discrimination for being trans? I am AMAB but present feminine.
3. How difficult is it to find a job? Do you have to own your own truck?
4. My biggest concern is having to be out of town all of the time. I'd prefer a CDL job that delivers things more locally. Is this doable? Do you feel you get enough off time?

I got my truck stuck in a mudhole on the West side of Lake Erling. Walked a bit until I found a grizzled old man who agreed to help me recover my vehicle.
We succeeded... eventually. Afterward, covered in mud and exhausted the old man told me a local legend.
So it goes, a Cajun car mechanic was on the run from the police after embezzling a modest sum from a car dealership in Louisiana. He fled North. The authorities caught up to him on the banks of Lake Erling. Instead of being captured he walked into the muddy water, chanting quietly.
It's unclear exactly what the fugitive was saying as he marched into the lake, but multiple first-hand accounts report hearing "By the law of the claw". The body was never found.
The old fella that helped recover my truck swore that the the man is still under that lake. Living in the mud, but no longer a man.
The vengeful spirit now inhabits a crayfish the size of a school bus. He lies waiting in the mud, until an unlucky motorist wakens his ire, grabbing the poor souls vehicle and holding tight.
Anyway cool story. Wondering if anybody knows anything about this?

Wife wants to upgrade to a small truck because we will frequently be towing an ATV around 160 round trip miles once or twice a month. I love my Prius so much and I hate to part with it. It's only at 160k miles!!
I have seen some posts, but can't tell if it's really okay on the car. With two adults and two kiddos, will a trailer and an ATV behind it tear the car up over time?

In August 2026, I will retire from my career at the age of 38 and take an initial six month sabbatical to travel with my family (wife and two kids). In 2026 my kids will be 12 years old (7th grade) and 7 years old (2nd grade) and we plan on using Acellus Academy.
The following is my first draft of the six month itinerary. I must admit that I thinks it’s a bit too much at this point but would only refine it from here on out and most likely cut things and stay at places a bit longer. Remember first draft.
I would love any recommendations and or feedback. We are pretty set on the school and will try it as a summer school tool in order to get my kids used to Acellus Academy. I know that two years out may seem like a far out timeline but in my life, time flies by really fast.

Yesterday, my ex-husband dropped off my son at my house. My ex and I argued about a broken phone charger (stupid, I know), and he called me a “see you next Tuesday”. As he put his truck into drive, I went to close his back tailgate. He then threw the car in reverse, and punched the gas, in an attempt to hit me. I quickly jumped out of the way, and he sped off.
I called 911, and the responding officers took my and my 15 year old son’s (he was a witness) statement. They pointed out a tire mark on the street, but informed me that without video evidence, there was nothing they could do.
This doesn’t seem right.

Went on a quick shopping trip to pick up items for dinner. On the way home with a full backpack and holding another bag of items I came across a bad situation that I thought that I could assist with. Long story short, there was big traffic jam caused by a stray dog walking down the middle of one of lanes. There was a guy trying to chase it down in a truck, but this guy was clearly going to cause an accident so I took over the chase to try and guide the dog off of the road. I was able to get the dog into the parking lot of a hardware store. Once again, the guy came roaring in his truck and spooked the dog who headed back towards the busy street. I was able to intervene again and got the dog heading away from the busy road. The dog got a good jump on me and was about 50 yards ahead of me heading towards cars again. I mashed it and was going around 30-35 when I caught up with it. There was a inlet/court just ahead of where we were so i got in front of the dog and did a hard stop turning to the left to get the dog to head down the court. I was able to get the dog re-routed, but as I made the turn while braking my pedals dipped and the wheel over-leaned and dumped me off of the front of the wheel. I was able to run it out for a little bit, but with a full backpack and another bag of crap in hand I decided to take the fall before I hyperextended a knee/hip or twisted an ankle. Fortunately I fell in loose tanbark so no abrasions or major injuries to myself or the wheel.
I was riding a Begode EXn high speed. I think that I am going to buy the high torque frame from AR and go that route as I am no longer a fan of the high speed configuration. It was a eye opener having the wheel cut during evasive actions.
And of course, no thanks or recognition from the dog owner who was able to finally wrangle the dog after I got him routed to the court.

I'm looking to buy a long term vehicle, and I want something that isn't so big and bulky like most trucks. And more fuel efficient. But in the future I'm thinking of getting a quad. So can a 36k SUV like the 2.5L Nissan Rogue, safely haul a single quad trailer? And what fuel efficient, smaller, light duty, towing capable cars would any of you recommend?

My elderly mother was driving last week down a Michigan side street. She pulled to the side to let a large truck pass and then when she went to go again a speeding vehicle came from behind and tried to pass her causing her to sideswipe them. They exchanged insurance and the other driver was not on the insurance which was under his mothers name but also expired. Later that day they spoke on the phone and he told her they could just go their own way and he'd pay his and she pay hers and to leave each other out of the insurance claim. My mother made a police report and insurance claim that her car was hit while parked in front of the house to avoid getting him or her any trouble with insurance. Cut to a week later and the police call my mother telling her that the man has now made a police report that she hit him. She could be on the hook for filing a false police report as well as potential insurance fraud. I told her to call a lawyer and do as they say. Any advice? To me id say the other driver is at fault as he was speeding and may not have insurance. but nonetheless she did falsify a report and make a false claim.

I been driving local usually 300 miles round trips for about 4 years with a 3 car wedge as a hotshot. I never had to use ELD’s .. I just started OTR with a new company and they gave me a Too tracking Hos device that I put on my trucks OBD adapter .. I plugged it in wenesday morning not thinking anything of it and I BEEN DRIVING AROUND getting my truck ready for work Friday morning ... I picked up my load Friday morning but it wasn’t going to be but had to Waite for another partial till Monday morning today.. long story short I just opened the app and realize my clock has been running this whole time even the 2 days I wasn’t even driving my truck .. can I just unplug this thing ??

I live in the UK, and I'm looking for a new career - entertaining all sorts of options... (solar panels... teaching English abroad... solicitor...) ...and then I remembered HGV.
I kinda used to want to be a trucker when I was a kid. I do enjoy long motorway drives a lot, and I've done parcel delivery before with one of the big couriers (self employed). I don't think I'm a bad driver. I don't think I'm a super great driver either, but I've not made a mistake in a long time. Never crashed a car or anything, and I've got no points on my license. I drive about 10-11k miles per year.
I don't think the lifestyle will be a problem, I kinda want to get away from people for a while. If anything, it's kinda appealing. Just want to stack cash, chill out, and party/travel when I'm not working. I've even got hobbies I can bring on the road with me, and the vast majority of my friends live in different cities anyway.
So with all that in mind, is there anything I should know before I apply for a trainee position? The main thing that's holding me back, and the reason I made this post, is that it does feel like a lot of pressure. I've seen articulated lorry drivers pull off some really tight, complex maneuvers with traffic waiting. Is that as tricky as it looks?
The real reason I made this post, my main source of apprehension, is the fact it's actually pretty high stakes. The risk might be low, but there's serious potential for something to go badly wrong with something that heavy travelling at 70mph. How common are scares? Is it possible to drive defensively enough that you can guarantee nobody gets hurt? (Without them somehow driving into you).
Also, is now a good time to get into trucking? Or is it a time to get out?
Just hoping for some advice from people in the industry. It might be a good match for me, but I'm still very undecided.
