2024.05.15 00:01 DisplaySalt8451 Application successful! šŸŽ‰ and a checklist for those in need

Hello all,
Weā€™ve just received our visa decision letter and it was a yes! It has been a long road and I thank everyone here for the great support youā€™ve offered, the posts that helped our application with both timelines and checklists, and lastly the super helpful people who answers questions and calm worries. We could not have done this without this subreddit.
As usual, a timeline from us:
We had a long wait for this one even with priority, but received no questions or asks for additional documents / proof.
I used some of the checklists folks provided here, and will give my own below:
Relationship: - Marriage certificate. - individual cover letter from both applicant and sponsor. - Pictures with each other and flight details. All dated. - Passports: All pictures of applicantā€™s passport pages, ID page of sponsor.
Employment of Sponsor: - 6 months payslips. - 6 months bank statements. - letter from employer confirming job. - Employment contract.
Accommodation: - Letter from landlord. - Tenancy agreement. - Evidence of payments already shown in bank statements. - Council tax form.
Additional requirements: - IELTS certificate. - We did not need a TB test due to country of origin.
I will still continue to battle for the changes made to the Visa requirements as I know some will not have been able to make the deadline. Do let me know if I can help in anyway, with questions or with support to calm nerves.

2024.05.14 23:55 Dismal-Infection Insurance lapse

I recently got a letter from the DMV regarding my insurance lapsing. I started a new policy with State Farm immediately after I was told my insurance lapsed. It took a few days for them to get me covered, so I had to drive in order to get to work. There is one box on the letter I need to check that is stressing me out. It says ā€œDid you knowingly operate the above vehicle without liability insurance coverage?ā€. Will I face any punishment if I say yes to that, or am I just able to pay it and be fine. Any advice helps as I have never had this happen before. Iā€™m aware of what happens if I donā€™t pay it, Iā€™m just worried about answering this question honestly.

2024.05.14 23:55 Mulch-Consumer69 Stuck postpartum nurse

Sigh. I'm a newer nurse [23 F], 10 months of experience. I got hired onto postpartum immediately after graduation and passing the nclex. I am not married to the specialty and do want to go to a different specialty at some point so I can find what I want to pursue higher education in. I like women's health but I'd rather stay away from the obstetrical side for reasons I won't go into now. But I like what I do and I love my patients. My coworkers are alright. My hospital insurance is horrible but I'm covered by parents still, and I've been having problems with the low census policy (see my previous posts) but other than that, everything is pretty good about the floor.
My problem is that I am a creature of the early morning; I work night shift now and it's eating away at my mental and physical health. I've tried everything I can to adjust and I just can't. I talked to my manager about it, she said there were no positions available for days and that one likely wouldn't br available for another year or two. Fair! But I cannot wait that long. So I have applied to day shift nursing positions, and today I got an offer on a medsurg unit in town. Day shift. Like I should be happy about this, but I just have a gnawing feeling medsurg isn't for me. I was a tech in nursing school on a medsurg unit during covid and that made me dislike it, honestly. Aside from the fact that I did not get the best vibe from the director of the department (who interrupted me during the interview and gave unsolicited advice) when I interviewed, they were very transparent that almost all their patients are "very high acuity" and its a common thing on that floor, and that I would be expected to know a lot within my 6 week orientation. And I'm just being honest, that's not my cup of tea. So I'm thinking I'll stay where I am on nights for now. But once i hit my 1 year mark, I plan to look for more options in specialties I'd like. I've applied for wound care, urogyn clinic, school nursing, pre admission testing, and pre and post surgical and have gotten turned down by all I've applied for.
I guess one of my questions or concerns is that, am I being turned down from these jobs because I only have 10 months under my belt? Two rejection letters said they were looking for more experience. Could it be that being in such a specialized area of nursing (mother-baby) is limiting me on my progression? Considering that's the only place I have RN experience??? Have any other postpartum nurses or nurses in a specialty been able to get other positions outside of your specialty? I'm interested in wound care, psychiatry, public health, and rehab nursing. Do I need to to medsurg to get into these specialties if I only have mother baby experience???
Edit: spelling

2024.05.14 23:54 Zee621 "Reality Check" from my doctor

I went to my doctor today to see if I would be a good fit for wegovy or any other weight loss drugs. Weight loss medications are also not covered under my current insurance so I wanted to also talk to him about writing an appeal for a formulary exception / prior authorization.
My doctor is familiar with my medical history 36 (m) 5'11" 395 pounds and high blood pressure. We also talked about how and why my keto diet failed and how the gym hurts. My trainer saying it will get easier and less painful once you lose some of the initial weight. Back pain, even from brisk 45 minute walks is holding me back from really getting into the gym.
To prepare and make everything as easy as possible for my doctor to do the appeal I called my insurance and asked exactly what they needed. I also have previous work experience in insurance so I am familiar with the process. I wrote everything down that was needed (why this medication is a good fit, what we have tried, BMI, blood pressure and medical records to back it up). I made sure to get where and who to send it to, how to do the cover letter etc... I was very prepared.
When we finally got to the topic of appealing to insurance he told me that "they are just jerking you around". "No insurance is approving appeals". "They literally throw them in the trash". I emphasized that I got all the information gathered already and that I have work experience with insurance and know it can work. He said "It doesn't matter, weight loss drugs are too expensive and they get hundreds of requests a day. They approve other drugs, but weight loss drugs are different"
He did offer me condolences that weight loss is hard and also a book suggestion to read about meditating to get rid of cravings. I left with him not even attempting to appeal and no prescription. I'm pretty devastated right now, I've known this doctor for years and he has never been that blunt or unwilling to work with me. He knows the struggle I've had with weight and blood pressure.
Is this a situation where I should try a second opinion? Was my doctor out of line?

2024.05.14 23:51 omarsn93 filed as MFJ instead of MFS

Hi,
I'm on an F1 visa and my wife is on an F2 visa. We've been here for a year and a half, so we are both considered non-resident aliens. Because of that, I should have filed as Married Filing Separately (MFS) instead. I made this mistake because I called an IRS agent, and she told me that filing jointly was a better option and would get me more benefits. So I followed her advice and filed jointly using TurboTax. I even took an appointment at an IRS assistance center and applied for an ITIN for my wife in March of this year.
Today, I received a notice letter from the IRS saying that the ITIN application was rejected. It wasnā€™t because of the filing status but because I missed some papers with my package, and now I need to resubmit everything.
How can I amend this filing status mistake? Am I in trouble? I don't want to have any issues with the IRS or USCIS down the road. I don't owe anything to the IRS; in fact, I'm eligible for a good refund. Before going to H&R Block, I figured I could ask you guys and get some insights. To be honest, I should have done this with a tax expert from the beginning, especially since this is my first time ever doing this, but I was and still am broke because I'm just a student and can barely make it to the end of the month.

GPS Blocker For Cars

How GPS Blockers Affect Car Tracking: Facts, Risks & Legalities

Are you worried about the privacy implications of GPS tracking in your car? With the increasing use of GPS in vehicles, many car owners like you are concerned about their privacy and are curious about the use of GPS blockers. However, it's crucial to understand the legal landscape surrounding these devices. In this article, we'll guide you through the world of GPS jamming, clarifying legal boundaries and potential risks. By reading on, you'll gain valuable insights into how GPS trackers and jammers work, their impact on car owners, and legal alternatives to protect your privacy. Now, let's first start by going over some of the basics about GPS jamming devices.
https://i.redd.it/2heka8kzpg0d1.gif
Simple Definition: A "GPS blocker for car" is a small device that disrupts the GPS system in or on your vehicle, preventing it from accurately showing its location.
Technical Definition: A "GPS blocker for car" refers to an electronic device that emits radio frequency signals, synchronized with the wavelengths used by GPS satellites. This device disrupts the communication between a vehicle's GPS receiver and the orbiting satellites, thereby hindering the accurate determination and reporting of the vehicle's geographical position.

Understanding How GPS Blockers & Jamming Devices Work

So how do GPS blockers work and what is the technology behind them? GPS blockers, also known as jammers, are designed to disrupt the communication between a GPS device and the orbiting satellites. They function by emitting signals that overpower or mask the GPS signals, causing confusion and loss of accurate location data. Let's break down the workings of GPS blockers:
  • Signal Overpowering: GPS blockers emit strong radio frequencies. These frequencies are similar to the ones used by GPS satellites but are much louder, effectively drowning out the real signals.
  • Frequency Mimicking: The technology in a GPS blocker is tuned to the same frequency range as GPS satellites. This makes the GPS receiver unable to distinguish between the blocker's signals and the actual GPS signals.
  • Range and Effectiveness: The effective range of a GPS blocker varies. Smaller devices might cover only a few meters, while larger ones can affect GPS over greater distances.
But why would anyone want to block a GPS device on their vehicle? It's a great question. One real-world example is privacy from an employer. Imagine you're using a company vehicle equipped with GPS tracking. Perhaps you feel that your employer is monitoring your movements excessively, even during your personal time. A GPS blocker can temporarily shield your location, providing a sense of privacy and autonomy. It's a way to keep your off-duty life private, away from the watchful eyes of workplace surveillance.
Another example would be if you were concerned an ex-husband or wife was secretly tracking your car. If you believe your spouse is tracking your car's location without your consent, a GPS blocker might seem like a solution. It provides a way to prevent your spouse from knowing your whereabouts, fostering a sense of personal space and privacy.

Legality and Regulations of GPS Blockers

In the United States, the use of GPS blockers is strictly illegal. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) prohibits their use because they can disrupt critical communication systems. If caught using one, you could face hefty fines or even jail time. In Europe, the stance is similar. The European Union has stringent laws against these devices for the same reasons. Let's look at the penalties for illegal use:
  • Fines: In the United States, the legal ramifications of using GPS blockers are quite serious. If you use a GPS blocker, you could face a fine of up to $16,000. This fine is enforced by the federal government through the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which regulates the use of radio communications, including GPSā€‹.
  • Imprisonment: The FCC's rules, specifically under Section 501 of the Communications Act of 1934, allow for substantial monetary fines and criminal sanctions, including imprisonment, for the use or marketing of jammers.
  • Seizure of Device: Authorities may also seize your GPS blocker, alongside other legal repercussions.
Using a GPS jamming device might seem like a quick fix for privacy concerns, but the legal consequences can be severe. Always consider legal and safer alternatives to protect your privacy. Remember, respecting these laws not only keeps you out of trouble but also ensures the safety and reliability of essential communication systems for everyone.

Effects of GPS Blockers on Vehicle Functionality and Surrounding Technology

Have you ever considered how a GPS blocker might affect your car and the devices around you? Using a GPS jammer in your vehicle doesn't just disrupt your navigation; it can have broader implications. Let's take a closer look at the impact a jamming device can have on your vehicle's GPS system:
  • When you use a GPS blocker, it will directly impact your car's navigation system.
  • The GPS may show incorrect locations or fail to provide directions, leading to confusion and potentially unsafe driving situations.
But what about the unintended consequences of using a GPS blocker for cars? Yes, we are talking about the influence on nearby devices and networks. For example:
  • Disrupted Emergency Services: GPS blockers can interfere with the GPS systems used by emergency response vehicles.
  • Affecting Public Transportation: Buses and taxis with GPS-based routing can be disrupted, causing delays.
  • Impact on Personal Devices: Your smartphone or GPS-based fitness devices can be affected.
  • Broader Network Implications: In some cases, GPS blockers might interfere with broader telecommunication networks.
Using a GPS blocker can have unintended and far-reaching consequences. Itā€™s not just about losing your way; itā€™s about potentially disrupting vital services and networks. As a responsible car owner, it's important to be aware of these effects and adhere to legal guidelines for GPS use. Remember, your actions can impact not just you, but also those around you.

Legal Alternatives to GPS Blockers

Seeking privacy in your car but wary of the legal issues with GPS blockers? You're not alone. Many car owners are looking for lawful and safe ways to maintain their privacy without resorting to GPS jamming. Here are some effective and legal alternatives that can help you achieve privacy and security while staying on the right side of the law:
  • Use a Faraday Bag: This bag blocks all radio signals, including GPS. Place your GPS device inside the bag to prevent tracking.
  • Opt For Non-GPS-Based Navigation: Use traditional maps or offline navigation apps that don't transmit your location.
  • Regular Privacy Checks: Regularly inspect your vehicle for unauthorized GPS trackers, especially if you suspect someone might have placed one.
  • Talk to Your Employer: If your concern is about an employer-tracked vehicle, discuss privacy terms and agree on acceptable tracking parameters.
By opting for these legal alternatives, you maintain your privacy without crossing legal boundaries or disrupting essential services. Remember, respecting privacy laws and considering the safety implications of any technology you use is crucial.

GPS Blocker For Cars - Frequently Asked Questions

Are GPS Jammers Legal?

Everything from desktop jammers to mobile phone jammer devices and GPS jammers is illegal in the USA. Anything that blocks GPS signals is illegal to purchase or use in the United States. Even a simple drone jammer is illegal in the USA.
Several nations, including the USA, Canada, and the United Kingdom, have made GPS jamming illegal. Anything that disrupts GPS signals is illegal. The Federal Communications Act of 1934 made it illegal to promote, sell, or use GPS jammers in the United States. This law makes it illegal to import, manufacture, distribute, sell, acquire, and use GPS jamming equipment. There are severe penalties for employing jammers, including:
  • Fines Of Up To $100,000 Or More Are Possible;
  • Incarceration;
  • Seizing Of the Jamming Devices.
Jamming devices are not only unlawful, but they may also be deadly if used improperly. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) penalized a New Jersey truck driver for approximately $32,000 after his GPS jamming equipmentdisrupted air traffic control signals at an airport. The worker had hidden his whereabouts from his company by using the jammer in his company vehicle. Using radio surveillance equipment, an FCC investigator could find the jammer and verify that it was the source of the disturbance.

What Should I Do If I Suspect My Communications Are Being Jammed?

If you suspect your communications are being jammed, start by troubleshooting common causes for bad network connections. This includes checking for faulty equipment, physical obstructions that might be blocking signals, or interference from lawful devices operating on similar frequencies. Additionally, researching your specific issue online, in relation to your device or model, can help identify or rule out potential causes. Only consider filing a complaint about suspected jamming after you've thoroughly investigated these possibilities and still believe jamming is the cause. Remember, many factors can contribute to network issues, so it's essential to systematically rule out the more common causes first.

How To Prevent GPS Jamming?

If you want to protect your GPS device systems from GPS blockers, there are some useful steps. One of the most common ways is to install a pre-programmable GPS tracking device. It will automatically shut down the car when it detects GPS blockers or shielding instrument devices. This way, you can enjoy ultimate fleet tracking without any issues.
Another way to combat tracking devices is to install multiple GPS devices in the car. This way, even if one or more devices are down, you can still get the location of your car. It may cost you a little bit more, but it will be worth it. Moreover, companies offer discounts on bulk GPS device installations.

2024.05.14 23:48 Soggy_Big_8256 NSA Eligible? $2k facilities fee at in network specialist w/ referral

I'm trying to help my girlfriend figure out her options here. Basically, her primary care physician referred her to an in-network allergist within the same healthcare system (Rush in Chicago). They told her she should be tested to see if her childhood penicillin allergy was still a factor.
So she goes to the referred doctor in the same hospital system. Beforehand, had checked her coverage terms. She has Blue Cross IL - Blue Choice Select PPOSM , which specifically says it covers allergy testing and says allergy testing and allergy shots (She didn't get any shots, just the normal skin scratch test).
Soon after, she gets an alert from Blue Cross saying she owes more than $2,000 for the allergy tests. Assuming it was some kind of coding error, she submitted an internal appeal to Blue Cross two weeks ago.
Today, she received a call from someone at the hospital saying that the $2,000 bill is a facilities fee and would never be covered by insurance. But on the EoB letter she got in the mail weeks ago says the charge is for allergy testing services.
Is this uniquely confusing or is it just me? And does anyone know if the No Surprises Act or anything similar would help to resolve it?

2024.05.14 23:47 ValleyOfWisteria Username/handle ideas?

Iā€™m not very creative when it comes to usernames. Iā€™ve tried looking for inspiration by scrolling through artists on IG and TikTok, but all the usernames Iā€™ve found are just a bunch of random letters and numbers and words that donā€™t make sense.
Iā€™m not entirely sure what kind of username that I want but I definitely want it to be creative and readable.
I donā€™t really wanna use my name or nickname, but maybe a shortened version of my nickname, Pip.
I want the username to just be two or three words and not too long.
Just so you get the idea of the kind of username Iā€™m looking for, here are some good examples: AnElderlyMeme, Cheesiiee, CreativeSinning, etc (those are the only good examples that I can find)
Basically all words, no random letters or numbers.
The words Iā€™m thinking of using are: Ghost, Honey, Cloud, Feather, water, rain, moon, etc
And art related words like: Art, Paint/ed, Brush, Canvas, etc
I want to use the username to make a good picture watermark as well.

2024.05.14 23:46 rain56 So the company that owns the apartment I rent was recently found guilty of using ai to artificially inflate rent prices. Does my rent go down?

They already sent out letters saying rent is going up 400$ but then a few weeks later (this week) they were found guilty. Sooo does it even matter or are they just going to get fined a couple hundred thousand dollars, create new fines and charges for us renters to cover tjat fine then continue to raise rent 400$ a year? Cause if so what's the point? How do we win? They were literally just found guilty of some really serious shit and I bet you it won't go anywhere for us and the burden of that fine they'll get will be on us the renters. They should be forced to lower all rent prices by a very significant amount and then forced to not be allowed to raise them by more than idk 50 to 100 bucks every few years. I looked it up and wiedner the company I rent from made something like 8 billion in profit in 2023 they really don't have any business raising anyone's rent at all.

2024.05.14 23:46 GlorifiedMixtape Advice Needed on Small Claims Court

Later this month I've got to appear to either contest or agree with a small claims filed by our local city income tax department, in which they are saying they did not receive my 2020 city tax filings. I haven't had a chance to dig through my records yet, but there is a good chance I may have forgotten to send the city portion in that year. Our city only accepts old school paper filings, and I've forgotten one other time but got it covered before it went to claims. However it's not the actual filing I need advice about, but the amount they are claiming I owe plus the interest they are trying to add on to it.
According to the paperwork, they began interest charges on April 24, however they did not finalize the letter until 4:10PM on April 24th as their official stamp says, which means I didn't even get a chance to receive the notice until the 25th. I looked up the case and the original cost was around $600 according to the courts website. On the paperwork it is now a little over $900 plus the interest beginning on the day before they contacted me about this. I called both the municipal court and the income tax department and mentioned I wanted a discovery on the actual amount owed. The lady at the income tax department told me that they couldn't provide me with a discovery because the city was taxed as an average that year, so everyone paid the same amount and the only way I could see what I originally owed was by filing for the 2020 year.
Again, not debating on whether or not I did or didn't file - I will find out when I double check my records tonight. However, I feel like I am getting the run around about the cost of this and that they are inflating it as much as possible while trying to ignore showing me the actual numbers. I also feel like starting interest before they've even mailed the letter seems a bit...unlawful?
Can anyone give me some advice or options here? Was asking for a discovery the right thing to ask, and is there anything else I can do to get them to actually prove their calculations to me? The extra $300 added on plus a new 8% interest fee seems a bit much over one small tax filing.

2024.05.14 23:46 ConcernedParent28804 Life with a Troubled Daughter & Red Hawk Academy

I am a parent of a troubled teen and this is my first post on Reddit. I registered for an account, just to make this post.
About three months ago, I found a post on Reddit discussing Red Hawk Academy in Littlefield, Arizona and it made me so angry I posted a response.
You can find the original posting at troubledteens Beetlejuicenewton.
Here was my written response to the original post:
"This comment is absolutely inaccurate and incorrect. My daughter has been there for months. I speak to her every week and we exchange letters throughout the week. This is the third program, she has been in and hands down the best program. You should not make accusations when you are not the parent and not actively involved in the program. I highly recommend this program. The staff are incredible and have helped my daughter tremendously. To all parents out there, call the school and ask to speak to Valerie. I have told Valerie that I will gladly speak to any parents who are interested in the school. This program has saved my daughter.) and was utterly shocked about what was being said about Red Hawk Academy."
Not understanding how social media works (in this case Reddit), I did not know that one's opinion can be removed from a site if the comment is contrary to the original post.
After posting this comment, I received an email from Reddit that my post had been removed and I was banned from the conversation. It took me awhile to calm down, but now I am in a place where I create a thoughtful post discussing my life with a troubled daughter and our experience with RHA.
Unlike the troubledteens Beetlejuicenewton post, I will not ban individuals who disagree with me.
This is my story...
In 2020, I started to notice a difference in my daughter who was 13 years old. I started to see a shift in her behavior. She was being inappropriate while on the internet, hanging out with troubled kids, and being very unkind to her family members. She started to lie, which turned into chronic lying. She started to get mad and hit her head into the wall. She never hit her head hard enough to receive a concussion, but it did get our attention. One day, I sat her down to discuss her behavior and took her phone. When I opened the phone, she had a screensaver that was a short clip of 2 toddlers being hit by a car. When I asked her why she had this as her screensaver, she said she thought it was funny.
Fast forward a couple of months....she was in therapy that was completely useless. She managed to make a handful of the therapist cry or get really upset. My daughter seemed to find humor in upsetting others. Her lack of empathy was beyond scary. She continued to hit her head into the wall every time she was upset. She then threatened to hurt herself, but it seemed to be more of a threat than anything else.
Fast forward three years...from the age of 15 to 16....she tried to "kill" herself twice (actually didn't really hurt herself, but it did get her into the hospital), hospital dependent (always wanted to be admitted to the hospital), suspended from school for inappropriate behavior (my daughter and her boyfriend were making out at lunch with hands down each others' pants), shoplifted (she shoplifted back-to-back days and took her little brother with her to provide cover), unprotected sex (I only found out because she thought she was pregnant), lying all of the time (she forgot how to tell the truth), cutting herself and still hitting her head into the wall, treated her little brother like crap (he would come to me crying, and tell me that he just wanted a "normal" sister), experimented with drugs (she only told me because she was feeling off and was scared), allowed strangers on the internet watch her sleep)....the list goes on and on.
This all happened within the timespan of 1 year! She was diagnosed with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and borderline personality disorder. (For parents with daughters who have been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, there is a great book I found on Amazon - When you Daughter has BPD: Essential Skills to Help Families Manage Borderline Personality Disorder by Daniel S. Lobel, PhD.)
Our family finally hit the breaking point. My husband and I were fighting all of the time, my son was so upset about his sister's behavior, and I was on the verge of having a breakdown. I cried all of the time and was so very sad about what was happening to my daughter.
We decided that we needed to send her some place. We could not manage her and she needed more help than we could provide. We sent her to a wilderness camp in Utah that came highly recommended by our therapist. I was scared to send her there, but I did not know what else to do. During her time at the wilderness camp, we had a neuropsychological assessment conducted, which resulted in an autism diagnosis. While she was slightly on the spectrum, it was clear that her behavior was driven by her borderline personality disorder. Within 5 weeks at the facility, we were advised that she was not a good fit for the program and we needed to find a therapeutic boarding school for her.
The wilderness program recommended a therapeutic boarding school in Oregon. We enrolled her in this program. She was a hot mess...she would not get out of bed and refused to go to school. She starting hitting her head into the wall (again), which the staff would not stop because the facility was a "no touch" facility, and the staff would just attempt to "redirect" her. She would punch and kick walls. Within 4 weeks of being at the school, the school called us and told us that we needed to immediately come pick her up because she was threatening to harm the staff members.
We felt desperate and full of despair. We did not know where to turn. We found the one and only program that has helped her....RED HAWK ACADEMY.
I initially called and spoke to Valerie. She and her husband, Sonny, own the school. Instantly, I felt heard and understood. During that initial conversation it came up that the school had received a reputation (not at the school's request) as the school that would take the girls that were kicked out of other programs. When I was filling out the paperwork (which is required for all programs), I got nervous because I had to sign a form that provided RHA with temporary guardianship. I prayed that this would not backfire on me. Unlike the other schools, RHA could restrain the girls when absolutely necessary. People instantly make accusations when the word "restraint" is involved in programs. What people do not understand, and unless you are in the unfortunate situation where you have a kid like my daughter, programs that restrain are absolutely essential. My daughter continually hurts herself and I need someone to stop her.
We dropped my daughter off at the school and hoped (with all of the hope we had left), that RHA would help our daughter. Programs, like RHA, are designed to help troubled kids. By no means, is this a vacation for your daughter or a break from the real world. My daughter tried everything she could to get kicked out of the program. She went so far as to orchestrate a fight with another student so they could both be kicked out. Unfortunately for her (and fortunately for us), she had consequences none of which involved removal from the school.
I have been so scared that we could not find help for her and that she would end up on the street when she turns 18 and most likely would end up homeless, uneducated, and in prison.
My daughter has been at RHA for 6 months and she is now at the point where therapy can begin. She has been so combative and defiant that it took 6 months for her to realize that she was not going anywhere and the only way she would leave the school was to complete the program.
While there have been good and many bad days, I am finally seeing a version of my sweet daughter. The daughter who used to hold my hand and tell me she loved me. For parents who are struggling, know that there are parents who understand your pain, understand the feeling of being out control, and understand how you become unsure of yourself (and your parenting skills). Just remember that you can change the trajectory of your daughter's life by getting her the help she needs. Welcome the opportunity to send her to a therapeutic school, like RHA, where she can get the helps she needs.
Thank you for reading this ridiculously long post, and I hope you can find some peace in knowing that are safe, supportive programs that can help your daughter!
I am going to write another post that specifically discusses RHA. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

2024.05.14 23:44 Fairyarchives How do K-pop groups comeback and social promotions work?

Hi, so Iā€™m fairly new to the K-pop concept. I wanted to know what all goes into a K-pop comeback. Iā€™m more thinking of the advertising and design side of things, Iā€™m thinking about editing or making a comeback for a group I like since I edit a little . It would be great if you could link some examples of girl groups! How they are posted and in what order they are posted. Like what all happens: their online presence on socials and how they announce; comeback announcement, schedule, mv teaser, tracklist, merch, album cover, individual concept photos, posters, etc. what is the order to all this?
Love all the help I can get!

2024.05.14 23:43 babytooth2001 Explanation as to why I won't talk about certain topics

So I (F22) recently posted and deleted an AITA post. I have a lot that I need to clear up since people have some questions.
1.) Why am I vague with details?
There's a huge reason as to why. A lot of the past issues I've had with said family involves some legal issues and some of the behavior is questionable in nature. I try not to think about this stuff as often as I can. I'm currently in therapy for a lot of the things that happened to me and I still get scared typing everything out in fear that I'll be in trouble.
2.) What are some examples of their behavior?
If I could list them, it would've been a saga of years that I'd rather not remember. A lot of examples include making everything about themselves, having a golden child in the family, the silent treatment everytime I call them out on their behavior, etc.
3.) Why are you writing letters to them?
For me, it's so that I can get my final point across to them since I'm leaving my homestate forever and never returning. There's so much that I've wanted to say to them after all of these years that I need to just get it out of my system before I leave and forget their existence. I've had a lot pent up and I've had enough. No, it's not for revenge or anything like that. It's more for closure and ending this horrible chapter in my life.
4.) Why can't I list certain examples?
Again, some of the issues are legal issues that I'd rather not disclose. I came here to ask about writing the letters and sending it to them before I leave my state forever. I read some of the notes to my therapist and she thinks that I should.

2024.05.14 23:41 InternationalDelay81 Boy names to match last name

The baby boy last name will be Aparicio. Since the last name has rolling vowels with no hard consonant, I've found that names with a hard k, t and other letters tend to work after following a vowels.
A bad example is Atwater Aparicio or Austin Aparicio.
But I'm looking for suggestions!

2024.05.14 23:30 Engineering_axolotl Bosch Repair Legality question

So I'm currently in the process of modelling a part from a Bosch mixer. It's normally plastic, but keeps breaking so I'm hoping to get it machined from something stronger. Is this legal though? I had trouble finding a definitive answer online. I'm not too worried either way, but I am concerned about putting the experience on a cover letter if it's not.

2024.05.14 23:26 rheckber Confused about medical benefits

I recently got 10% Service Connected for Tinnitus and not approved nor service connected for hearing loss. In reading the welcome letter and my benefit letters on VA.gov it says I now have medical coverage? I signed up a few years ago for VA Health when they were doing COVID vaccines (but never got one there nor have I ever been treated at a VA facility.
The Proof of Minimal Essential Coverage Letter says:
Dear Mr. . . . :
I am pleased to confirm your enrollment in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health care system. Your enrollment satisfies the requirement to have health care coverage under the Affordable Care Act, which you may know as "ACA" or "health care law".
What This Means to You
You have access to comprehensive health care services at VA facilities anywhere in the country. You can use these services even if you have Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, or private health insurance coverage.
There are no enrollment fees, monthly premiums, or deductibles. However, you may have to pay VA small copayments for your health care or medications.
You do not have to take any action to renew your annual enrollment status. VA will notify you if anything changes in your enrollment.
You do not need to take additional steps to meet the health care law coverage standards.
The Welcome Pamphlet also talks about priority groups and 10% SC disability being Priority Group 3 and also says
What care and services does VA health care cover?
Each Veteranā€™s medical benefits package is unique. Yours will include care and services to help:
All Veterans receive coverage for most care and services, but only some will qualify for added benefits like dental care. The full list of your covered benefits depends on:
I always assumed any VA medical coverage would only cover things related to the specific disability and not to other health issues/items. Does this mean I can use the VA for other medical issues. Things like prescriptions and lab tests as well as emergency/urgent care? It also mentioned Auditory, possibly Dental and Vision coverage (heard varying things on vision). How does this work with Medicare or private insurance?
Thanks for any info!

2024.05.14 23:25 Saturnpod Feeling Lost While Learning Hebrew

I've been trying to learn Hebrew for a few weeks now and I am just struggling to understand it. I speak English, French, Spanish, Italian and I'm TRYING to learn Hebrew. I've been learning through lots of YouTube videos, music, alphabet flash cards, and Duolingo. I feel like I'm doing everything right, but I just don't know what to memorize. Do I memorize the Hebrew scripted letters or the English letters equivalent? For example, would I memorize "שÖøׁלוֹם" or "shalom" and then later learn the scripted letters? In my head, I think "shalom" and then identify the s as שÖøׁ and spell/read it out like that. Any tips or tricks? Thank you!

2024.05.14 23:18 Iamnotyouiammex066 How's my build?

How's my build?
I haven't been able to log on in a while due to work n stuff, and I wanted to sort of reminisce for a minute....
So, what do y'all think?
I do have the Antimatter torp from the Disco set, I just prefer not to use it because I like to take screenshots of the blown up boss ships behind my ship before I warp out, and the purple torp of nopeness kinda messes with that.
All of my bridge officers are Superior Romulan Operatives.
My ship weapons are all as close to [CrtD/Dm] [Crtd]x4 as I could get, sans anything that has a locked trait (Elite Fleet Dranuur Antiproton Dual Heavy Cannons for example have a locked [Proc] trait).
I went with AP just to be a little different... The Ba'ul ricochet was kinda tempting as well.
I think that covers most of it.
