2024.05.14 02:36 Benve7 How to turn AUX audio into live MIDI?

There is this site called sightreadingfactory.com that I've been using to teach my self to speed read sheet music on my digital piano, and I want to start doing the same but with my electric guitar.
I have been using a midi cable from my piano to my Focusrite 2i2 DAC, and I'm wondering if there is any way where if I connect my guitar to the DAC with an AUX I can make it be read as midi device through some kind of converter.
I own Ableton if that matters.

I found this cozy jean jacket for $13 and decided it was the perfect canvas to make my own class-inspired jacket :)
The design is machine embroidered and appliqued with metallic thread. This was my first time ever using metallic threads (or appliqueing...) with my machine, so I tested it out maybe 20 times and now have a pile of these sitting around collecting dust
The embroidery file was digitized (basically converting a 2D image into threads and stitches and stuff) by me, but the artwork itself mostly comes from the official Dancer concept art . I had to take a few "artistic liberties" with the art so it would be easier to embroider. I also used the job icon to make a few small pink DNCs to put around the jacket.
It may not be as detailed as the official jackets they've released, but I didn't feel like waiting for more of those :D
Bonus: a job icon tote bag I made a looonnnggg time ago. RIP nice grid that now has to squeeze new classes :,)

2024.05.14 00:25 freew1ll_ Where to start?

I'm a working full stack developer with a BS in CS. I want to start learning about AI is but its hard to know where to look, and there are so many grifters clogging YouTube and Google.
I have a few questions I would love guidance on:
  1. How can I explore using AI in my day to day life? I've started using ChatGPT for troubleshooting help or ideation, I've used stablediffusion web a couple times for presentation images, but I feel like I'm only just starting to scratch the surface. How can I learn more about how these tools can improve my life?
  2. Is it possible to run my own versions of these AI models? I assume you can run your own version of stable diffusion for example to learn 'prompt engineering' and avoid having to pay the fees, but I have no idea how or what the drawbacks are.
  3. How do I start getting my hands dirty working with AI? I've seen a video by corridor digital who trained their own AI model for converting video to animation; how do I get to the point where I can make my own cool projects like that?

2024.05.13 22:52 lightingj Hi everyone 2 quick questions

I'm new to RVing and excited to get into it. Purchased a SunRay 1909E and have 2 quick questions.
RV has a quick-release gas line female adapter on the patio side for a grill hook-up. I got an adapter cable on Amazon that converts the quick connector to a thread you can attach to a device that uses the small 1-pound propane tanks. The problem is, I have a grill I would like to use that has the 15lbs tank size and needs a larger hookup. For the life of me, I can not find an adapter to go quick-relese to "home grill" size. My assumption is the quick-release gas line is not rated/large enough for more than a pound setup? But just wanted to see if there is a way to hook that up?
My other question is, I currently have a basic analog heat thermostat in the camber for the furnaces that I would like to move the position of and also replace with a digital Coleman Machine 94303382. Will the digital unit work if the old unit was analog spring wire type?
Thanks for any help in advance and happy RVing!

Goals: - Utilize OBS and a capture device to back up and restore old family 8mm and VCR tapes, preserving these precious memories digitally. - Employ DaVinci Resolve for editing videos, including community podcasts that will be recorded with a full-frame mirrorless camera, enhancing the quality and engagement of local content. - Archive family photos from old picture collections to safeguard these historical images and make them easily accessible. - Host a Plex server and utilize a Blu-ray drive to convert my collection of Blu-rays, enabling easy streaming and access to my media library from any device. - Host my own AI model, such as Llama 3, leveraging the video card to handle AI tasks and computations efficiently.
I am currently running windows and would like to convert it to a VM. I have looked into the process and I believe it will be possible to get it running in vm. I would appreciate any suggestions or feedback to my plan. (My writing is subpar so I employed an AI to help me with the post)

Is there a way to convert input numbers to pwm amount?
Controlling the vehicle with an rc plane transmitter and reciever. Reciever gives input to digital 4 and 5, 1495 is the middle position, full back is 995, full forward is 1995. My question is, can I convert that 500 range of each direction to output pwm progressively?
I'm new to all this so outputs high and low are all I could do for testing. Now that it works as desired I'd like to add some finesse, but I don't know what exactly to look for. Would it be similar to encoders?

Dune: Part Two (2024) 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Review - HD MOVIE SOURCE
Dune 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Review

VIDEO QUALITY

Dune: Part Two is an excellent-looking movie on 4K Blu-ray! Placing bonus content on the same disc was a concern of mine, considering disc space, and considering the film's length. However, encoding quality is high. Dune 2 is also a cleaner-looking movie than Dune 1. There is a light layer of grain, and film grain does resolve well. Film grain is more visible in low light shots vs brighter day shots. I think the film grain level is just right. Enough of it to make it look filmic, and enough to make it so grain haters really shouldn't be bothered by it.
Ringing is non-existent, which is great, and has an excellent level of detail. The movie is also significantly brighter than the first movie. With these improvements from the first movie to this one, my assumption is that the scanning to film and back to digital process has been improved. Or, at the very least refined. They may have found that they lost light output converting to film and back, and they've found a way to augment that. Likewise, with film grain appearing tighter, I wonder if a different film stock or variation could have been used. I don't personally know, however, the entire look that Dune 2 has, is much improved over Dune Part One, and I really appreciate that. Because I wasn't a fan of how Dune 1 looked. I didn't like the muddy film grain that they used.
No artifacts or breakdown are visible. A 100GB Disc was used for this encode, and it's a pleasure to watch from start to finish. I didn't think that WB were capable of producing encodes this good, but I give them a lot of respect for this transfer. It shows me that when they want to produce greatness, they can. I'd like to see all of their releases look this good. So, I'm extremely happy.

AUDIO QUALITY

The Dolby Atmos mix is spectacular! Dune: Part Two is a reference disc from start to finish. It is mixed perfectly, and the level balance is excellent. I thought Dune 1 was a reference disc, but this actually goes some and improves on the first one in terms of balance. Dialog and clarity are far better. It's balance between the sounds around and the dialog are perfect. Even the opening monolog of Part One vs Part Two, the balance is so much better in Part Two. The sound design team have either upgraded the way they do things or have balanced their own studios in a far better way to get this mix sounding this good. If music is playing, you can still hear the sounds of the desert around them. Dialog, again, is clearly discernable even in complex scenes. Sound and video get better over time, and from an audio point of view this mix is on a whole-nother level.
The bass is at reference levels and at times becomes scary. Because the power of the bass is tremendous and is used at the right times. When massive machines are landing, you feel it, and you feel the weight of the machines landing. When copters are banking, my room inflates with massive bass. I've actually had to start fixing vibrations in my room because the bass go so low and so deep with this movie. When you reach this level of bass, I always say to people, I hope you have at least 2 subwoofers. As always, the more subs you have the smoother and cleaner sounding bass you will have. I currently use two Monolith, 13 inch THX subs, and I'm at the point now where I don't actually want more bass. So, if you're a bass-head like me then this movie will provide you with everything that you could ever want. It's not overdone, I think it's just balanced absolutely perfectly. There's never a point where I thought, hmmm, that didn't sound right. Whereas, by comparison, Part One, does have scenes where I thought it actually could have sounded better. So, I'm blown away with the balance, and the quality of the bass.
Another thing I'd like to point out is the audio directivity, it's superb! I think it might require multiple listens and watches to really appreciate everything. There are so many subtleties to the sound. Sounds can move from center to the right speaker, but it's like the sound floats. The audio sounds like it's not coming from a speaker but a point in space. The use of heights and surrounds is involving, and multi-layered. However, it's true, there isn't a scene like in Dune Part One, where Paul gets blasted by the sandstorm and you hear particles of sand move through the room. It doesn't use sound isolation in that way. But creates these layers upon layers of sound to create a 3D world. It's the small things that add to this. Whisps of sand in the back left surround, a flutter in the front right to rear height channels, all sound incredible. Whatever the process for getting the balance like this, THIS IS IT! Because this is sound quality and balance that I've never heard before in a Dolby Atmos system. Other movies do and can sound flashier. They use a more obvious sound design and play audio pinball. Dune: Part Two doesn't do this, and I don't think it needs to, to make great sound. It's the layering of all of these sounds that creates this believable world. I think Dune 2 will be at the number 1 spot for the best sounding movie of the year. This is a masterclass in sound design and pushes the boundary up in what can be done with audio in 2024.

OVERALL

Overall, a stunning movie. Warner Bros. They really stepped up for this release, and I'm extremely happy with what they've achieved here on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. 4K Blu-ray is in a position where, some may only buy fan favorites on disc, and maybe stream others. Dune: Part Two is the one that requires a disc to see and hear it at its best. Simply having uncompressed audio on a movie of this caliber is almost mandatory. The increased dynamic range, the power, the bass, and subtleties of this sound isn't possible when streaming. It's a release that can take full advantage of a great home theater setup. This release was made to be experienced in the best way possible, on a 4K Disc. It's releases like this that make me realize why I still buy movies on Disc. Because this experience isn't possible on a streamer. Streaming is great for casual stuff, but when it comes to getting the most out of a movie, that's what 4K Discs are made for. This is the reason to own a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Player!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - A Must Own For Fans That Crave The Best!

2024.05.13 21:40 Financial_Pitch_8593 Landing page tools/software that is not unbounce, instapages, landinggi etc.

Let's talk about landing page tools and software that might not be as well-known as the usual suspects like Unbounce, Instapages, or Landingi. While I'm no self-proclaimed expert, I've had my fair share of experience exploring different tools in the realm of digital marketing. Here are a few lesser-known options worth checking out:
  1. Carrd: Carrd is a simple and intuitive tool for building one-page websites, including landing pages. It's known for its user-friendly interface and affordable pricing. Carrd offers a range of templates and customization options, making it a great choice for those looking to create sleek and responsive landing pages quickly.
  2. ConvertKit: While primarily known as an email marketing platform, ConvertKit also offers a landing page builder feature. It's designed with creators and bloggers in mind, offering customizable templates and easy integration with email campaigns. If you're looking for a tool that seamlessly combines landing pages with email marketing, ConvertKit is worth a look.
  3. Launchaco: Launchaco is a free landing page builder that focuses on simplicity and speed. It offers a range of templates and customization options, making it easy to create professional-looking landing pages without any coding knowledge. While it may not have all the advanced features of larger platforms, Launchaco is great for quick projects or testing new ideas.
  4. Elementor: Elementor is a popular WordPress page builder that can also be used to create landing pages. It offers a drag-and-drop interface, a wide range of design elements, and responsive editing features. If you're already using WordPress for your website, Elementor can be a powerful tool for building custom landing pages tailored to your needs.

They’re taking over!
Oregon, Portland-ish. Seen about 4 of these in the last week alone inside my house. Thoughts on what they are? They’re probably close to quarter sized including legs. If I see another one that isn’t trying to run from me, I’ll try to get a better picture 😅

2024.05.13 20:14 jaydee3839 Kobo Libra Colour with the Dell Active Pen PN579X Stylus

I bought the Kobo Libra Colour with the Notebook Sleepcover. To save on money, I found a new Dell Active Pen PN579X Stylus on ebay for $20.
Just came in the mail today. At first I thought there might be something wrong because it didn't seem to work, but then I looked at the manual and realized the Stylus had "AES" mode and "MPP" mode and was "AES" mode by default. Switched to MPP, and now it's working.
It's not exactly paper-like, but it doesn't feel bad or awkward at all to me. My handwriting is no worse or better than pen/paper. Slight delay, but not enough to bother me or negatively impact penmanship. The handwriting convert to digital text is also better than I expected. I write with a print/cursive mix and it's picked up everything.
The big question I had was whether or not the Dell stylus pen would fit and magnetically attach to the stylus slot in Kobo Notebook SleepCover. It does not on either account. It does not stick magnetically and it's slightly too big. It will sit in the rounded slot ok, but with it nestled there, the cover doesn't close flat -- the edge of the fap sits up about 2 inches above the edge where it should be flush.
Hope this information serves useful and let me know if you have any questions.

2024.05.13 19:55 KFC-Combo-Sauce Need Help* Connecting HP Laptop to Mitsubishi Diamondtron 87XTM via HDMI to VGA

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to connect my HP laptop to a Mitsubishi Diamondtron 87XTM CRT monitor and I’m facing some technical challenges. I’ve previously used HDMI to VGA dongles to connect other devices, but when I try the same with my laptop, I get no signal. However, these adapters work perfectly fine when I use them with my Xbox One and PS3.
I'm mostly looking to use this setup for web browsing and gaming. I'm not fully versed in how digital signals are converted to analogue, so any guidance on this would be appreciated.
Additionally, I have an NVIDIA GTX Titan Black with a DVI connection and I'm considering setting up an external GPU. Would this be a viable solution? If not, what should I be looking out for to solve this connection issue?
Any recommendations on specific adapters, settings, or alternative solutions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

2024.05.13 19:36 Relative-Obscurity I found a set of blank cassette tapes at the junk store. And I can't believe what was on them.

Link to original nosleep post:
https://www.reddit.com/nosleep/comments/1bgxwgm/i_found_a_set_of_blank_cassette_tapes_at_the_junk/
Growing up as a young kid in the late 1980s, I was always terrified by the stories I'd hear of people who'd go to the grocery store, take a hike in the woods, or even a trip to a crowded beach, and would disappear, never to be seen again.
Whenever I'd see their faces memorialized on the back of milk cartons, their last photographs forever immortalized in the macabre medium of ink on cardboard, it would send shivers down my spine.
But the truth is, by the mid 1990s, I had overcome my fears, too preoccupied by the distractions of an adolescent life.
That is, until one day, in 1996, when, at the age of fourteen, a mere freshman in high school, during my weekly pilgrimage to the junk store, I made a discovery in the cassette pile that would change my life forever.
"You're still listening to tapes?" My best friend Jess asked, rolling her eyes, a nerd in the truest sense. "Get with it, dude. CDs are the future. Higher dynamic range, superior sound quality. It's not even a question."
"Yeah, yeah." I replied, ignoring her criticism, as I rummaged through the store's now mound of cassettes, its collection having significantly accumulated since the dawn of the compact disc just a few years prior.
"Look at that thing. It just looks... not cool." My friend Mike added, as he pointed to my cassette player, which was clipped onto my belt, its black plastic headphones draped around my neck. "I swear, if you wear that to school, and the football team asks, I'm denying that we're friends."
Somewhere between elementary school and high school, he'd been converted to an athlete and, by association, became popular. But I didn't care about being cool. Or acting cool. Or dressing cool. I just liked what I liked, and to me, cassettes were functional, and cheap. And that, to me, was really cool.
"Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never-" I began to say to them, before something caught my eye at the bottom of the box.
It was a stack of eight homemade cassette tapes, each with a number scribbled onto it, bundled together by a flimsy old rubber band, that looked like it would break at any moment.
There was just something about them. Something so nondescript, so unapologetic, so mysterious, that I felt compelled to buy them, without even knowing what was recorded onto their magnetic tape.
"What are you guys doing later?" I asked Jess and Mike, as we left the store, and began our walk home, the ocean's waves showering us with mist, as they crashed along the seawall of our small South Shore town.
"First game of the season tonight." Mike replied, "Wouldn't miss it."
"You should check it out. Even I'm watching," Jess added, "We signed Walker in the draft. I just have a feeling about this season."
"No thanks." I declined, "I just can't get into sports. Despite my blue collar dad's continued attempts to convert me."
"Your loss." Mike replied, as we parted ways, each of us heading off in different directions.

Later that night, I was lying in bed, fantasizing about a world where Jess confessed her undying love for me, when I suddenly remembered that I'd bought the cassette tapes earlier that day.
So, I found the one labeled "1," popped it into my cassette player, and hit the rewind button.
After a minute, I heard it stop, and pressed play...
CLICK.
...Expecting to hear some grunge, britpop, or maybe even ska music. But what came out of the speakers was something... else.
"If you're listening to this..." A man said, his ominous voice crackling over the magnetic tape, "...You've found my instructions on where to find the bodies in the marsh."
What the heck? I thought to myself, nearly spitting out my soda. This must be some kind of prank. But for some reason, I couldn't stop listening.
"Bodies that, if discovered in the correct order, will provide clues to who I am. And why I did what I did."
Okay, maybe it's some sort of audio game? Like a detective thing, Yes, that must be it.
"As this is the first cassette in the set of eight, for this tape I'll be providing step by step instructions on how to find the first body. So, when you're ready, please proceed to the marshes on 139, where the bend of the road meets the sharp turn sign. You'll want to pause the tape now, until you get there."
CLICK.
I did just as he instructed, and paused the tape.
139. That's an actual street, not far away. Wait a minute. Could this be... real?
I wasted no time, picking up the plastic rotary telephone that I'd begged my parents to let me keep in my room, and called Jess' house.
"What the heck, dude!" She answered, "You just booted me offline. I've been downloading this song all day, and it was at 95%."
"Sorry," I replied, "But there's something I need to tell you."
I proceeded to tell her about the tape, and its instructions, and asked her to skip school with me the next day, to accompany me on my search for the bodies. Naturally, she laughed off the request, citing a presentation she had to give at school the next day, but offered up going right then and there.
"At night? Are you crazy?" I asked.
"I mean it's not real. So what's the worst that could happen?" She reasoned.
"Okay, let me call Mike."
I would have bet a million dollars that Mike would have declined the invite, and called me an idiot for even entertaining the idea, but when he picked up the phone, he was so upset that the boys in green, as he called them, had lost, that he jumped at the chance to get out of the house.
"Really?" I replied.
"Yeah, I can't listen to my old man make up excuses for them anymore. It's much too early in the season."

About an hour later, Jess, Mike, and I met at the marshes on 139, where the bend of the road meets the sharp turn sign, just as the narrator, as I'll call him, had described.
"Where to now, genius?" Mike asked, gesturing to the immense stretch of marshland that lay before us. A stretch of marshland that was so expansive, in fact, that our town was even named for it.
"One second." I said, before putting on my headphones and pressing play on the cassette player.
CLICK.
"If you're listening now, it means you made it to the starting point. Next, you'll want to turn to the marsh, and scan the horizon for an old scarecrow. Once you find it, walk across the top of the marsh, careful not to fall into its trenches, until you reach the scarecrow. Until then, pause the tape."
Once again, I did just as he instructed, and paused the tape, before returning my headphones to my neck, and looking off into the distance.
Sure enough, about a football field's distance away, was the scarecrow, its body illuminated by the moonlight, its arms open wide, as if calling us over to join it.
"Follow me." I said to my friends.

A few minutes later, I was trudging through the grassy surface of the marshlands, my flashlight in hand, as Jess and Mike lagged behind me, bantering away as usual.
"It's up, up, down, down, right, left, right, left, A, B, and start." Mike said.
"No, you idiot, it's up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, and start." Jess corrected.
"Will you two shut up already?" I called out, as I forged ahead, too annoyed to look back at them.
"You know what, Tyler? I'm really starting to worry about you, dude." Mike said.
"Oh yeah? Why's that?" I replied, rolling my eyes.
"You're really changing. Hanging out at the comic book store. Listening to metal. And worst of all, wearing those flannels around your waist."
I stopped in my tracks, and turned back to him.
"Me change? Dude, I saw you bullying Shea in the locker room, with the other football players."
"So what? The kid deserved it."
"Did he? Why?"
"For being a nerd. That's why. And you know what?"
"What?"
"Maybe you deserve to be bullied too."
I dropped my flashlight and stormed over to him, before we both locked eyes, fists clenched.
That's when we heard Jess, call back to us from up ahead.
"Hey guys..." She said.
We both looked over to her.
Jess simply pointed a few feet away, where we saw...
...A giant scarecrow, towering above the marsh, its wooden body barely keeping it standing, nearly all of its hay having fallen off.

CLICK.
"If you're listening now, it means you made it to the scarecrow. Next, you'll want to look out at the Y-shaped ravine before you, separating you from two different patches of marsh. Jump to the one on the left, take about five steps, and dig there. That's where you'll find the first body, and a clue. After you find it, you'll want to switch to the second tape."
CLICK.
I relayed the recording to my friends, who had very different reactions.
"I'm not jumping-" Jess said.
"Stand back." Mike interrupted, as he took a few steps back, crouched down, ran...
...And cleared the ravine, his boots splashing into the muddy marsh on the other side.
Jess and I simply looked at each other, then over at Mike, then down at the ravine, and finally back at each other.

A few minutes later, Jess was helping me up from the ravine, she too, having just crawled up from it after falling in.
Meanwhile, Mike was laughing so hard at us, that he stumbled backwards and tripped over something.
Seeing that Mike, too, was now covered in mud, Jess and I joined in on the laughter, and before we knew it, all three of us were all uncontrollably howling under the moonlight, all three of us, dirt caked onto all of our clothes.
But then Mike stopped laughing.
"Hey guys..." He said.
Jess and I looked over at him.
"...What the heck is that?" He continued, pointing to an object that was protruding from the marsh.
I turned on my flashlight, shined it onto the object, and was shocked to find...
...A human hand, long decomposed, its digits collapsed into the mud, its wrist bones sticking up through the grass.
Jess screamed at the top of her lungs.
Mike, having just stood up, fell back to the ground, his eyes wide in horror.
And I, I took it the worst of all, immediately turning to the ravine and gagging into it, as if that was the polite place to do it.
"But wait," Jess began, "That means..."
"...They're real. The tapes are real. And there are seven more bodies out here." I muttered, my body beginning to tremble.
"Cool." Jess said, before taking a closer look.
"We've gotta go tell someone. The cops. Let's get out of here." I said, still in shock.
"Are you kidding, dude? We have a once in a lifetime chance here, to find these bodies. Now let's find the clue and play the other tape." Mike said, his voice excited, but his body shaking.
"He does have a point, as disgusting as it is." Jess added.
"You can't be serious?" I yelled out to them both.
"Hey, you're the one that found the tapes. And wanted to come out here." Jess replied.
"The way I see it, there's only one way to decide." Mike called out.
"Oh yeah? What's that?" I asked.
"We vote." He said, with a smile.

A few minutes later, Mike and Jess were digging through the mud, searching for the clue, as I watched on in horror, switched tape "1" for tape "2", and pressed play.
CLICK.

2024.05.13 18:35 LastDragonfruit1224 Help finding Cardiologist near Portland, OR

Hello! I’ve recently moved to the Portland, Oregon and need to find a cardiologist that works with POTS patients. I think this post doesn’t break the rule of no medical advice, but my apologies in advanced if it does.
I was planning on making an appointment with the OHSU POTS clinic, but my general doctor has informed me that they are no longer accepting new patients. (kinda really bummed about that bc all i need is a check up done, I’ve lived with POTS for over a decade so i don’t need much support)
Does anyone have a cardiologist they love in the Portland area, or surrounding suburbs? Id really appreciate any advice or help!!!
p.s: I know a lot of people go to neurologists instead. I don’t really understand the difference between the two but I’m happy to give that a shot if anyone has a doc they love. I’ve always been with a cardiologist bc they believe my heart murmurs are related to my POTS.
Thanks pals!!!!
