2024.05.14 14:41 detective_jones_ What would you do if you were me?

What would you do if you'd been renting for about 10 years and were desperate to own a home but you can't afford a deposit because after moving to London it completely tanked your savings. When you were younger you wanted city life and to get away from your boring small town but now that you're older and grown up, you would actually like to do some adult things like own a home and learn to drive.
You thought your small town didn't offer any opportunities and your only hope was to move away but since coming to London, all you've done is work waitressing or retail jobs. You're now realising that your dream of working in the fashion industry was a bit of a pipe dream and virtually impossible with no connections. After 6 years of living in London, you're 27, have a dead-end job, no savings, no house, no friends and no car.
You're sick of London you find yourself longing to move back to that small town of yours because the people are actually nice, your family and friends are there and you miss home. Plus it's your only real chance of owning a home since the ones there are a lot cheaper.
You talk to your partner of 5 years about it and they are not on board. They moved around a lot as a kid and therefore feel like nowhere is 'home'. They're from a completely different side of the equator to you with a different culture and language. Despite this, the two of you are completely in love and want to spend your lives together. He refuses to move to your home town (understandable, it is quite dead) and wants to travel the world, living in lots of different countries in Europe (he works remotely, online). This topic never came up before because both of you were quite content living in London until one day you weren't.
You really want to put down roots somewhere and contemplate whether this is worth ending a 5-year long relationship over and what you should do since you both want very different things in the future.
Out of the blue, a family member becomes very sick and is going to pass away soon. In the will, you're about to inherit quite a lot of money and a home. Since this will be more money than you've ever had in your life, you don't want to squander it and think it's best spent on a mortgage.
Now you have to decide whether this is worth ending your relationship over with possibly the best man you've ever met in your life? Do you buy a home in your small town and start all over again or go with him to live in lots of different countries in Europe, spending that inheritance on more rent and owning nothing...

2024.05.14 14:41 anonzzz2u Hikaru makes WAY more money if you LOSE money

Slate splits the "winnings" (your losses) with Hikaru. He's probably way happier if you sign-up and LOSE big. He is chasing money, so why not want you to lose big so he can win big.
Don't worry, he'll take care of you when you are down and out.
NOT
Keep giving him money on Twitch. I'm waiting for a young kid to lose everything and commit suicide. I have a feeling Hikaru will just mentally write it off as the cost of doing business. He knows gambling can destroy lives. Doesn't care.

2024.05.14 14:40 No-Base8204 Does anyone else experience summer depression?

For the past four years it has been like this.
Pretty sure it's due to me having too much free time.
I'm unemployed at the moment for personal reasons.
Boredom agitates my depression. Hobbies aren't enough to keep my busy. So I mainly spend my summer being bored. It doesn't help I hate traveling. Traveling in the past always makes me a little depressed.
I try to do something new this year by taking an online asynchronous class but I believe it won't be too rigorous. Which means it probably won't help with my depression.
For me in-person college classes helps with my depression the most.
I guess I need something to take up a big chunk of my day. Something to keep me occupied.

2024.05.14 14:40 D-List_Celebrity Time to go gift shopping for this bad old post which turns 1 year old soon

18 months after the last time he surfaced, do-nothing Intellivision CEO Phil Adam posted this feckless update.
May 24, 2023
Intellivision Update May 2023
The last 18 months, since becoming the CEO, has been an extremely difficult time for the Intellivision business. A long list of disappointments from both inside and outside of the company had to be taken head on. During this time we laid off a large portion of our staff, restructured our management team, and began the process of reevaluating every aspect of the business, which included the path that lay ahead for Intellivision.
That phrase, "a long list of disappointments," really sums up the project, doesn't it?
What we have distilled down from countless hours of self assessment is that we are, or more accurately, wish to be, in the business of creating a living room experience that brings people of various ages together in group play. It is the experience between people, sitting in the same room, that will be our primary measure of success. This, first and foremost, comes from offering great content.
If that's your "primary measure of success," I guess you realize by now that you have utterly failed, right?
As an entertainment business, we realize that creating great content requires world class partners and a focus on strategies where we can effectively achieve the necessary level of excellence to succeed. To this end, we will be announcing a string of new partnerships that will not only help bring fun and innovative content that captures the Amico experience, but also bolsters and celebrates our content's appeal by (1) licensing our IP to development partners who have product pedigrees that are creatively aligned and best poised to bring something great to market, (2) leveraging our IP in ways that ensures delivery on Amico but additionally expands our content to entirely new audiences Intellivision would otherwise be unable to reach and (3) acquiring new IP that embodies Amico and fits our strategic focus. This will include licensing IP for other platforms where it makes sense to do so.
That's how we got Astrosmash (music "compiled" by Tommy Tallarico) and Shark! Shark! for Steam, Switch, and Xbox, as well as Google Play. Very few reviews and not many more sales. Good job, Phil!
Our commitment to delivering a unique and innovative platform that brings people together has not wavered. What has changed is our philosophy on how to deliver that experience. The business environment is quite different from what it was in 2018 when the original Intellivision business plan was put together. We cannot solely be dependent on a traditional hardware console business model. The cost and time to scale such a business is too great. We must be more creative in how we deploy our intended entertainment experience - not only delivering a better experience for our customers, but also reducing the time and cost to scale the business.
Oh, it's wavered. No amount of empty words can hide that.
We want to assure our fans that shipping a console remains a part of our product strategy. The development and hands-on testing of our pilot units have been a successful step forward. As a testament of this progress, we are pleased to share with you this video of a father and son playing Shark! Shark! on one of the pilot units in their home!
As part of our expanded strategy, we also plan to bring the Amico experience to other hardware platforms, starting with mobile devices, under the name Amico Home. Amico Home will dramatically reduce the hardware footprint needed to enjoy Amico games and provide more developers the opportunity to explore the creative potential of in-room multiplayer games with our innovative physical and smartphone controllers. This broadening of the talent pool will bring new ideas and gaming that will shape the future of Intellivision and our place in the market.
Amico Home = $15 ports of existing mobile games except you need to use a phone to control your phone. The most popular of them has "100+ downloads" and the modest roadmap milestones are already slipping.
We are excited for this future and what it means for bringing the Amico experience to the public. Those who supported Intellivision early on helped set the foundation for all that we have been able to achieve, and we are truly thankful to you all. In the coming weeks, those that have maintained a deposit will be able to sign in and verify their spot on the priority list (Amico Club List). The Amico Club List will be used as the primary mechanism to prioritize access to special products, early access to new games and other unique offers. More details to follow.
Again, it's been 51 weeks since this feeble declaration.
Again, we thank you for your patience and support as we chart a new course for Intellivision and establish our own unique position in the vast and vibrant video game industry.
Phil Adam, CEO
Truly unique indeed.

2024.05.14 14:40 Jadedheaux Is there any place that pays to receive your recycling (glass bottles & aluminium cans) in bulk anywhere in Auckland?

I vaguely recall hearing something about this at one point but I don’t know if it’s currently still a thing where you can take items such as glass bottles & aluminium drink cans in bulk and exchange them for a little cash. My boss currently has an excess amount of empty glass beer bottles and aluminium drink cans (like around a dozen full boxes worth) sitting at her home from the tenants she rents the self contained granny flat too on her property which she has been attempting too slowly dispose of by throwing into her garbage bins each week the night before they get collected, unfortunately she can’t get rid of them fast enough because her tenants simply keep producing more empty bottles & cans faster then she’s able to dispose of without having too make a trip to the dump specifically just to dispose of all that recycling. I suggested perhaps taking them all to get exchanged in bulk for a little spare change but we’ve been unable to figure out which business currently offers a scheme like this. If anyone knows if this is some place anywhere in Auckland that offers such a service then please let me know so I can pass on the information too her. Thank you in advance! ☺️✌🏻

2024.05.14 14:39 ShonanDaithi REP in Asian countries

Hi everyone.
Firstly I want to thank this subreddit. I’ve learned a ton just by going through the different posts and helpful comments people leave on here. Much appreciated as I’m relatively new to this business.
Now, on to my topic.
Is there anyone here who has started a REP business in Asia or other parts of the world besides the US? A lot of posts seem to reference the US so I’m interested to hear peoples experiences in other countries.
I’m based in Japan but I’m eager to hear how building a business has been in your area. Were there any specific considerations required for your area? Anything you see done very differently (marketing, business development/ sales approach, etc.) compared to how things are done in the states?
One thing for me is that on average, Japanese residences are smaller, often with fewer windows meaning less natural light. This obviously depends on what kind of real estate you work with but for example in major cities there are far few properties with big gardens and drones are somewhat restricted here so I’ve been to take all this into account when planning.
I’d be interested to hear if any of you in similar situations have had that effect the gear you buy etc.
Thanks.

2024.05.14 14:39 Altruistic-Mousse803 oceanmarkets.org scam review

Oceanmarkets.org is a website that claims to offer users the opportunity to invest in various ocean-based projects and initiatives. However, many users have reported that the website is a scam and that they have lost significant amounts of money through their investments. The promises made by oceanmarkets.org seem too good to be true, with guaranteed high returns and minimal risk. Unfortunately, this has led many unsuspecting individuals to fall victim to this fraudulent scheme.
One of the main red flags with oceanmarkets.org is the lack of transparency and information provided about the projects they claim to be investing in. There is little to no details about the companies or initiatives that users are supposedly contributing towards, making it difficult to verify the legitimacy of the investments. Additionally, many users have reported difficulty in withdrawing their funds from the website, with requests for refunds or withdrawals going unanswered or ignored. This lack of communication and accountability only adds to the suspicion that oceanmarkets.org is a scam.
It is important for individuals to exercise caution when considering investing with websites such as oceanmarkets.org. Doing thorough research and due diligence on any investment opportunity is vital in order to protect oneself from falling victim to scams. If something seems too good to be true or if there are warning signs of potential fraud, it is always best to err on the side of caution and avoid making any financial commitments. In the case of oceanmarkets.org, it is advisable to steer clear of their services and warn others about the risks associated with investing through their platform.

2024.05.14 14:39 henryvelazquez Zero Calorie Zero Carb Morning Detox recommendation. 36yo

Does anyone have any morning detox that helps them empty out their bowels in the morning?
I used to do Aloe vera juice in the morning to flush out my bm's but it's not working anymore. It used to kick in within the forty-five minutes of taking it.
I added tsp of pink Himalayan salt, tbsp of avc, 2oz of the aloe vera juice.
Any recommendations that won't break a fast are welcome and appreciated.

2024.05.14 14:39 Leading_Train8397 Education-related

Sorry this is so long 😢 I am a university student. At the beginning of the term, I experienced a pattern of deliberate harassment targeting my disabilities, culminating in physical aggression. The primary aggressor, a fellow student and a member of my cohort, engaged in an escalating series of actions that included derogatory comments specifically about my disabilities as well as physical intimidation. This harassment peaked when student accosted me in a threatening manner. The specificity and nature of student's actions, directed at my disabilities, suggest that this harassment could be considered a hate crime under federal law, as it was motivated by bias against my disability.
Despite multiple attempts to report these incidents and express my concerns about my safety, I faced significant obstacles within the university’s administration. My faculty member for the class not only refused to allow me to report the incidents, ignored my repeated expressions of concern for my personal safety, yelled at me for trying to report, and ultimately disciplined me without cause. Furthermore, the associate dean during a recorded discussion, explicitly stated her prioritization of the university’s reputation over addressing student safety. She expressed a preference for handling such complaints internally rather than involving outside police, and stated that campus security would defer to the school rather than take necessary actions to investigate or address the matter properly. In fact, in the recording this dean alluded to this happening many times, stating "a lot of things have happened that haven't made the news."
I also contacted the school's office of civil rights and set up a phone interview for a later consultation. After they contacted them on the phone they told me they would not create a report, just some intake notes. The intake person expressly told me that this was only an intake, no report or complaint would be filed. They would take notes, discuss with director of this office as to whether they would take action at which time I would need to file a formal complaint and they would write a report. After not hearing back within their specified time frame I contacted the university’s Office of Civil Rights and learned the employees there dismissed my case without adequate justification. I asked for more info and was told they forwarded my "report" to the sr. associate dean and stated to me no civil rights violations occurred. I was totally shocked because this was against what they said their procedure was. I asked for a copy of the "report" and was very shocked to see it absolutely full of deliberate lies, serious omission and designed like a targeted attack against me. My concerns were minimized, the seriousness of the events were omitted and all the relevant information excluded. I did file a complaint with local law enforcement when the incident peaked, and this detail was left in the "report" by the school's civil rights report but as if I made a false criminal complaint. I was also hearing different reports from the sr assoc dean that the official report was that a student tapped me on the shoulder and I went off. This never happened. So far everything I have heard, read or been told has contained falsifications and misrepresentations of my statements, deliberately altering the severity and nature of the incidents reported. This office failed to accurately record my experiences and intentionally downplayed the seriousness of my situation, and later forwarded the report to the Dean without my knowledge or consent, intentionally compromising the integrity of any future investigative process.
My efforts to seek justice and safety have been documented through various means. I have maintained written correspondence, including emails and text messages with university personnel, that chronicles my attempts to report the harassment and the inadequate responses received. Additionally, I possess recordings that were made by request and approval, that further substantiate my claims regarding the university’s handling of my complaints. I also believe there is security footage capturing the incident that escalated the situation which could corroborate the physical confrontation initiated by the other student.
The school did not help or support my concerns for safety. However, after repeated writing and advocating I was placed in a new clinical team and site with new faculty supervision. The student in question was my close associate and the faculty that refused to acknowledge my complaint is the one replaced.
However we are a cohort. So I see the student at other times and also had to do small group work with them. I repeatedly reached out to all of my faculty about this. Because in addition to the increased potential for physical violence from this student they had also made up false allegations against me. Obviously, it's a mess. Our term is almost over and I just got switched to a new small group, where the new faculty literally took my grade from an A to an F in less than a couple of days. The new faculty graded my work from previous/original small group and failed me on everything. They gave me two failing marks for missing group despite numerous emails regarding safety concerns. The new faculty also doesn't accept my health-related academic accommodations. They also required I do the work of the previous small group as well as this new group. The new faculty knew of my concerns for safety as well as health issues. They offered to walk me to seminar and then proceeded to leave before I noticed and never told me where their small group met. I sent her an email right away and she didn't respond for over 10 hours. So I was late because I had to wait for someone from the group I was joining to respond. So she marked me down for lateness. She also accused me of taking a photo of her (I'm still talking about the faculty) which is very weird. I had my phone propped up on my laptop and was using like a second screen and she was trying to lean over to see what I was doing. There was no test or any cause to suspect I was cheating, etc. Weirdly, the camera part of my phone was against my computer and so obscured.
I am absolutely not sure what to do. The sr assoc dean is very pushy and made numerous phone calls to me. I had hoped that she was on the up and up but after reading what they sent from the school's civil rights office to her, I told her that all correspondence must be written due to discovering multiple false reports and misinformation. I also asked for all notes, reports, info on my case -no response to that but she did say ok to emails.
I did file a complaint with the U.S. Dept of Justice office of civil rights since the student was targeting my disabilities and I reported the problems with trying to go through the school. I will also file a complaint with the US Dept of Ed office of civil rights shortly.
What the hell can I do here? This is a healthcare degree and I have one term left ---but I won't because this new faculty dropped my grade to an F. I was suspicious of this fac to begin with and was sickened when told I was being transferred to her. Today was the first day I was officially in her class. She works fast.
Any legitimate suggestions? I need a lawyer but don't know where to begin. Also, I want this fixed now before it goes any further. I have sent an email to my academic advisor. But I really don't trust anyone at my school.

2024.05.14 14:38 UmpireImpressive1857 Is it just me ?

I feel so alone in my struggles. And it feels like i am fighting a battle everyday , a battle no one can see. I am literally at war.
I am 35 year old female. I am diagnosed with acute chronic stress , c-ptsd , depression, sinusitis (like a worst flu one can have , for the past 12 years) , migraine, allergies, lactose , pollen, dust , gluten intolerance, plantar fasciitis, IBS, gastrointestinal problems, my immune system is very sensitive, inflammation in my body , my muscles and tendons get stiff and i can barely function without nsaids, i am taking corticosteroids every now and then due to my ailments (obviously prescribed by my doc) .
I have been a victim lf physical child abuse. Mental physical abuse by my parents. I was terrified of my father even though he hit me just once(And bad) . My mother hit me a lot and always kept telling me i was the reason for her life being miserable. I just had a miserable childhood. My father substituted his love for money. Which made me end up making horrible decisions. I had an abusive boyfriend who drugged me and had me abort a baby. I woke up bleeding on the side of street without a life in my belly. And a million other abuses… worst was when i lost my Grandfather because he meant the world to me and the only person who loved me unconditionally. It’s been 14 years and i still want to die and just go to him. I am an atheist and i don’t even believe i will ever see him.
I married a great guy(surprisingly) . But i am too messed up to be understood by him. He comes from a ‘perfect family’ loving parents and all that luxury. He tries his best to help and understand me but i feel i am just dragging him down. I would hate to be the reason to bring him down. I feel like dead weight.
I am barely functioning. I was a lawyer for 9 years but quit burned out two years ago and now i just can’t, i just can’t. I don’t talk to my father (7 years ago when i married a guy from different religion he disowned me ) My mother is a decent person but a terrible mother. I don’t love her and i don’t hate her.
I moved across the globe to have a new life with my husband. But my past , my horrors never leave me. Been in therapy.. medication..nothing works. I’m a slave to my past. I have a lovely life now and i just want it to end. I am happy with my life now. So , now i just want to rest. Forever. I look and other people and thing my life is pretty good now. My husband is the best person ever. We’ve been together for 12 years. He loves me a lot . I feel glad he loves me . But i don’t feel love. I love nothing. I feel nothing. Well, i have two beautiful dogs and i do love them. But that’s it.
I just want to end it while it’s perfect.

2024.05.14 14:38 DutyTop8086 How to Land Your Dream IT Job After Earning Your CompTIA Certification: A Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Finding a Job You’re Interested In
Step one is incredibly important in your job-hunting journey because you don’t want to waste your time searching, applying, and interviewing for a position you don’t actually want. You can get the same practice interviewing by going out for jobs you really want, so you have to figure this out.
Is there a particular area of IT that interests you? Maybe you don’t see yourself specializing in your work, and that’s fine. There are companies seeking IT professionals who can follow various types of projects and work closely alongside other tech experts.
Not only is becoming an IT professional a practical job choice, but it’s also dependable in terms of career growth. The demand for IT professionals has continued to steadily grow over the years, with employment for IT specialists estimated to grow by a whopping 11% in the next decade.
As an IT professional, your skills will also make you eligible for employment at businesses other than tech companies. You might also decide to teach or be your own boss as an independent contractor for IT services. An IT education displays the skills necessary to work in a wide range of occupations, including government, finance, healthcare, and more! Should you transition into another field of study, IT courses still offer an educational foundation that you can build on throughout your life.
In today’s market, careers don’t have a linear direction—instead of moving up the office positions, you may shift from one occupation to another, learning to pick up certain skills as they become more in demand. IT professionals show great career development. They have strengthened problem-solving skills, technical knowledge, and interpersonal relations, all trending job traits.
Another way to narrow down your options is to pick a city or location in which you want to work and begin searching there. You can search in nearby areas as well if the immediate city doesn’t have open positions for IT professionals. Maybe you want to find a position that is flexible, so you can work some hours remotely or on the weekends to fit your lifestyle better.
Whatever the case, once you narrow down your criteria and select some jobs you’re interested in, you can begin applying and interviewing.
  1. Getting Past the Gatekeepers
Highlight your skills and credentials to potential employers. This will help you stand out, and it showcases your credibility and skills. Accreditation ensures high-quality education and services for schools in a similar way that certification ensures high-quality job candidates.
As a graduate of the CompTIA certification program, you secure more than the necessary coursework needed to sit for various IT exams and certifications, such as the CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+ certifications. These certifications are well-recognized in the industry and can significantly boost your employability.
Your CompTIA certification demonstrates your competence and readiness to handle IT tasks effectively. Not only is CompTIA recognized globally, but it also aligns with industry standards and expectations. Employers often look for candidates with certifications from accredited programs, as it assures them of the quality and relevance of the skills acquired.
  1. Using Temporary Agencies
Once your certification is completed, the next steps and hunt for an entry-level career begin. Temporary agencies, or staffing agencies, are one of the best and time-tested strategies in the IT hiring process.
For a short period of time, employers hire temporary workers until they have time to find a permanent employee. Temp jobs can give you experience in industries and careers you might not have otherwise thought of trying—without a long-term commitment. Furthermore, firms like Robert Half Technology are well-paying and reputable temp agencies in the IT field.
They will send you out for short-term assignments, which is an ideal amount of time to get your foot in the door for a full-time position or to gain experience in a particular field. Having a high-powered connection is the most likely way to getting hired. These include a recruiter, a temp agency, or a personal friend who has connections in the industry. If you have no connections or you haven’t made it to a recruiter’s list yet, then your best bet is to go in through a tech temp agency.
The temp process should not last longer than a year. As a result, you may want to pursue a part-time position as a temp in a firm while you are getting your degree or other qualifications. Regardless of how you get on the inside of a firm, remember the cardinal rule number two in all firms is privacy. You should avoid gossip and discussing your business, or the business of others, with those inside the firm. Use discretion when releasing any personal information. You want to make and maintain friendships while remaining professional and representing the firm you are under at all times. You never know where networking will lead you, or how it can help you get hired in the future!
  1. Interviewing for an IT Job
Before interviewing with a company or any of its representatives, you will want to remember a few important facts. IT managers are often detail-oriented and thorough. Consequently, they listen to every detail you say and weigh it in the balance of what it is they want from you. Therefore, choose your words carefully and avoid getting personal.
While you don’t want to get too personal, you also don’t want to answer questions with a simple “yes” or “no.” Explain your reasons for answering a question a certain way. Take time to answer an interviewer’s questions. If you need a minute to think before you answer, take it. You don’t want to look stuck and allow long periods of silence, but thinking about a question before you commit to an answer shows the interviewer that you care about your answers and want to be hired. If you reiterate the question back to the interviewer, you can ensure that you’ve understood them correctly and buy yourself a few more moments to consider your response.
This is a cardinal rule in negotiations: He who speaks first loses. At a time when you are seeking to negotiate a salary, view our previous IT blog post for tips on negotiating an above-average IT salary.
  1. Accepting the Job
The goal of the interview process is to be hired for the job, so this moment is exciting and probably intimidating as well. You might decide to accept the job, decline the job, or negotiate the job with pending acceptance. When you’re offered a job that you’re unsure of accepting, it’s okay to consider the offer prior to accepting or declining. If you tell the company you’d like to think about the offer, give them a date you’ll let them know by, never more than a few days. They have a position to fill and others to notify, so they can’t wait around for you to respond to their offer.
Here are some things to consider about a potential job:
Once you are offered a position and decide you’re ready to accept the job, you’ll need to let the prospective employer know. Be proactive. It’s common to wait 24 hours before accepting a job, and during that time you can ask for the offer in writing if it is not provided. Verbal offers and acceptances are okay, but written communication alleviates room for any disconnect between you and your potential employer in the scope of the job, benefits, etc. Make sure you discuss the starting date of employment. Allow yourself enough time to prepare and conclude your time with any previous employers if necessary.
Perhaps the most important reason to pursue IT certification programs is that you have all the tools to achieve a career doing what you love. IT courses provide the tools and develop the skills necessary to excel in the field. Accessible resources may include online case citation software, exercises that strengthen your technical knowledge, research and investigative skills, technology organization, and multitasking.
If you’re searching for the tools you need to earn your certification in a convenient and affordable manner, then consider reputable institutions that offer comprehensive IT programs. These institutions provide you with the complete freedom to manage your personal life, get hired at your dream job, and pursue your education—all at your own pace. 2024.05.14 14:38 Few-Flounder-8951895 Downplayed Super characters

In this subreddit I've seen my fair share of different roster predictions and whishlists, however I think many people downplay the importance that Super will have on the game. Whether you found Super good or bad as a series, it doesn't matter, because it is undeniable that it will be rightfully heavily pushed by this game for a variety of reasons, even at the expense of older fan favourite content from BT3.
The point of this post is to specifically highlight some Super characters that many people downplay when I think they have a fair chance at being playable in the base game; just like Bergamo, Kakunsa and Whis were downplayed by the majority of people before their inclusion.
Of course, from this list are excluded those characters and forms that are either already confirmed (like base Jiren) or that everybody take for granted (like GoD Toppo). Furthermore, I'm only considering characters and forms that appeared in the Super anime or in the Super movies, as I think that the manga characters/forms will unfortunately be off limits. Finally, I am not saying all of the following characters are going to be playable for sure, but don't be surprised when at least 1/2 will be.
Now, let's start in general order of appearance:
TAGOMA The most important of Frieza's henchmen during the anime RoF arc. I can very well see him making the cut just to cover that portion of the story effectively. If we can have lots of Frieza minions from the Namek saga, we can have at least one from RoF and he is the most logical pick.
JACO Another character that debuted during the RoF arc. Now, of course he actually debuted in the DB spinoff bearing his own name, but he became a staple of the DB canon thanks to RoF. Jaco, in my opinion, is more than just a crossover character, he is a DB one, and I think an important one at that. He warns the Z-fighters and helps them during the RoF arc, he was helpful during the U6 Tournament saga and he then returned with a blast during the Moro arc (without even mentioning some other cameos here and there).
CHAMPA While Beerus was a shoe-in, Champa is the second most likely GoD to become playable. He is important in at least two sagas, he cameoed before and after them, the fans love the guy and he has showed a lot of moveset options throughout the anime and manga. He was also already playable in other games, so he is a given for me.
VADOS The second most important angel. While we didn't see much of her fighting when compared to Whis, she still is quite important and especially popular. She is also playable in other games, so if they want they can make her happen.
BOTAMO The first U6 team member. He was a rather important character in two sagas, which would help the devs squeeze two story mode fights with a single character. He has also a unique mechanic that would make him a very fun character to play as. I honestly see no reason why he shouldn't be playable.
FROST FIRST FORM Frost is a shoe-in, or at least his Final Form is. I see many people forgetting his previous ones, but in his first appearance he sported a base form that I think has the potential to be here just for the fact of not wanting to have Frost starting out in his Final Form.
FROST THIRD FORM The same arguments made for Frost's First Form can be made here, as he fought against Goku with his Third Form and it is possible they would want to recreate the whole fight for the game story mode, or just to complete the Frost set. However, I agree that this has the lowest chances out of the three main ones.
MAGETTA The same arguments made for Botamo can be made for Magetta in my opinion, if not more so. Now, imagine if they implement a mechanic that gives superarmor to him, but the more he gets insulted the more it weakens. People still talk about the Devilmite Beam mechanic from BT3, imagine the videos that will be made about Magetta.
MONAKA The Mr Satan of DBS. He isn't an essential character but the same can be said of Mr Satan himself who is indeed confirmed to be playable. It would be nice to have him both for completing the U7 team from that arc and for the hilarity that would ensue.
CORRUPTED MERGED ZAMASU I've seen many people say that this particular version of Merged Zamasu won't or shouldn't be playable, however, this form was predominantly featured in the anime and it even already became playable before if I'm not mistaken, even before normal Zamasu himself. In my opinion, if we can have things like Mecha Frieza we should also get Corrupted Merged Zamasu.
ANDROID 18 (SUPER) I think there is still a possibility that A18 gets a Super variant like her brother. This version was recently added to Xenoverse 2, she fought quite a bit from the ToP onwards, enough to create new moveset and interactions, and, as confirmed by the official DB games IG account, A17's Z variant name is just "Android 17", so the fact that A18's Z variant name is just "Android 18" isn't an opposing factor here.
BELMOD Beerus is a must and Champa is highly probable, but the third most likely GoD is Belmod. He was highly involved in both the anime and the manga, even more than Sidra or Quitela, making him a prime candidate in the case they want more GoD representation.
MARCARITA Even less involved than Vados, but if Belmod is in and they want a third angel as well, Marcarita is surely the one to go, even if they would need to get a bit creative with her moves.
DR PAPARONI While everybody agree that Agnilasa will be playable, I think we shouldn't dismiss the mind behind the hulking titan himself. I can see Dr Paparoni acting like a mix between Babidi and Shin from BT3, in the sense of him using Borareta, Koitsukai and Pancea in his moveset, while also being able to transform into the fusion Agnilasa.
KOICEARETA The other half of Agnilasa. This is the initial mechanical fusion of Borareta, Koitsukai and Pancea, a strong one at that, who managed to hold its own against U7. I can see this character being in for the same reasons as Dr Paparoni would, but it probably has the lowest chance out of them three.
KATOPESTRA Despite him not being neither the last man standing of U3 nor their strongest member, he managed to carve a popular niche inside the fanbase. He still appears to this day in other games as playable or as an event, and with his mode change ability he would be very interesting gameplay-wise too.
GANOS BASE FORM U4 from the ToP is probably the trickiest (no pun intended) universe to choose a fighter from. I still think each universe will have at least one playable character in there and Ganos, the U4 leader, is probably where the money's at, being one that the fans happily remember.
GANOS TRUE FORM In the anime Ganos also sported a new form. With this, not only he has an interesting design, but he also fought in a memorable episode against Roshi. I find it impossible for the devs to add Ganos without both of his forms.
DAMOM Damom is the green bug from U4, one of the few ToP characters directly created by Toriyama and who was given extensive coverage in both the anime and the manga, managing to even score some big eliminations. He would be the perfect U4 pick if it wasn't for his miniscule size. If the developers manage to find a way to represent this fighter without issues then I can see him being in the base game.
CAWAY A U4 fighter that has not size issues and that wouldn't need at least two slots to be properly covered, one that is quite popular and that is playable in at least another game already. While I think that Ganos and Damom are the right picks for U4, I wouldn't be surprised if they go with Caway just because it is easier for them and more appealing to the fans.
MONNA Another U4 fighter that has not size issues and that wouldn't need at least two slots to be properly covered. While she is less popular than Caway, she fought more and she was well-received by fans thanks to her fight against Cabba that triggered his SSJ2 transformation. She could be a valid alternative to Caway.
MAJORA Very similar reasons to Monna. No size issues, no more than one slot needed, fought enough to create a valid moveset, his fight with Krillin was very well-received. Majora was also on the ToP intro, like Damom and Ganos but unlike Caway and Monna. I think he is less likely than the former ones I mentioned, but he is still a possible U4 representative.
KALE BASE FORM As it was with Frost, some people say that we won't or shouldn't get Kale's Base Form, but I disagree. Considering her transformations, it would feel so strange to leave out her standard look. Some people complain about her lack of moves, but she has showed some feats in Base Form, especially in the manga retelling of the ToP, and I am sure the devs can cook something out of it in order to have her default state in.
SAONEL The first of the two U6 Namekkians. He is advantaged by the fact of being a Namekkian and a U6 team member. He and Pirina were also the last fighters from U6 and they had a wonderful couple of episodes dedicated to them. His body is also similar to Piccolo's which may help the devs developing him.
PIRINA Same exact reason as Saonel. I think if one gets in, the other will follow; as two separate characters that is, not a two-in-one type like I've seen being suggested around. His body is also similar to Slug's.
DR ROTA A joke character from team U6. We know he is a magician so if they would want him in they could cook something up. That said, I only inserted him into this list as he would be the last U6 member and the devs could feel compelled to add them all at that point.
OBNI U10 was probably the most forgettable universe from the ToP, with Obni, their last man standing, being the only exception as he showed a cool mechanic during an emotional fight. Since I am sure they want to represent all participating universes, Obni is the perfect pick for U10.
KAHSERAL The strategist of the Pride Troopers and the most likely one to become playable outside of the main three. He has a good combination of moves and he could also call the other U11 members for attacks. I think roster size and universes representation is what is really keeping him down.

2024.05.14 14:38 OkLiterature9978 Wall Street Reaps 97% Return by Trading Emerging Markets ‘Special Situations’

Buying debt sold by the lowest-rated countries scares off most investors. On emerging markets desks across the globe though, that type of risky wager is being dubbed “special situations” — and its popularity is growing.
The strategy has been gaining traction across Wall Street, helping a handful of money managers beat the returns across traditional emerging-market investing. Vontobel Asset Management and Abrdn Plc, whose flagship EM hard-currency funds have beaten at least 89% of peers over the past year, are among those who’ve benefitedfrom the trade.

2024.05.14 14:38 PROVENDATAUS What Is System Patching

What Is System Patching
https://preview.redd.it/x6uygc2zzd0d1.png?width=768&format=png&auto=webp&s=71f6f0aced3752360f486f6bf1ee9cc689d4d417
System patching is the process of applying updates, fixes, or patches to the software, firmware, or hardware of a computer system or network infrastructure. Patching a system encompasses several components, including the operating system (OS), applications, drivers, firmware, and other software components.
In this article, we explore the importance of system patching for data security for individuals and businesses alike. Also, we give best practices to patch the system and the benefits of system patching.

What does it mean to patch a system?

Patching a system means that you will download and install the updates provided by the vendor or manufacturer to ensure the system remains secure, stable, and up-to-date.
This process is essential for maintaining the integrity and functionality of the system. It helps mitigate potential risks posed by security threats and ensures that the system operates efficiently.

What does patching up your PC mean?

Patching up your PC is the same as system patching: it refers to the process of applying software patches or updates to your computer’s operating system, applications, drivers, and firmware.
Patching up your PC helps ensure that your computer remains secure, stable, and up-to-date with the latest features and improvements.

Best practices for deploying patches

By following best practices, organizations can effectively deploy system patches to enhance security, stability, and performance while minimizing disruption to business operations.
https://preview.redd.it/a060kjh10e0d1.png?width=614&format=png&auto=webp&s=6a29cce25883fe13439aea81ac0de6dd5c2f8188

1. Take an inventory of assets

Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all hardware and software assets within your organization, including servers, endpoints, and network devices.
This inventory should include details such as asset type, status, location, software titles, versions, and warranties.

2. Create a patch management policy

Develop a comprehensive patch management policy that outlines procedures for obtaining, testing, installing, scheduling, and prioritizing patches.
A policy can ensure consistency in patch management practices across the organization.

3. Assign priority levels

Establish clear criteria for prioritizing patches based on severity and potential impact.
You can, for example, identify critical assets, such as production servers and systems exposed to external threats, and prioritize patching for these assets.

4. Consolidate software versions

Consolidating software versions simplifies patch management and reduces complexity.
Whenever possible, standardize on specific versions of operating systems, third-party software, and custom applications across endpoints and servers.

5. Schedule routine patch application

Develop a regular schedule for applying non-critical patches that minimize disruption to users and business operations. Make sure to communicate patching schedules to users and stakeholders to manage expectations.

6. Roll out patches gradually

Always deploy patches gradually to avoid overloading systems and degrading performance. Phasing the rollout of patches and scheduling deployments during off-peak hours minimizes disruption and allows users to keep their work as expected.

7. Test patches before application

Testing helps identify potential issues, errors, or incompatibilities that could impact system stability or functionality.
So, prioritize thorough testing of patches in a controlled environment before deploying them to production systems.

8. Stay up-to-date with updates and patches

Missing critical patches can expose systems to vulnerabilities and security risks.
For this reason, establish processes for monitoring and staying informed about new patches, updates, and security advisories for all software used within the organization.

9. Conduct post-deployment reviews

After patch deployment, you should conduct reviews to identify any issues or unexpected consequences. You can establish a rollback plan to revert changes if necessary and address any issues promptly.

10. Continuous improvement

Regularly review and update patch management processes and procedures to incorporate lessons learned and address emerging threats.
Consider investing in automated patch management tools to streamline and optimize patching workflows.

What is system patching used for?

System patching is used primarily for enhancing the security, stability, and performance of computer systems.
Among the many solutions and benefits provided by patching a system, you can find:

Cost savings

Proactively patching systems can help organizations avoid the costs associated with security incidents, data breaches, system downtime, and remediation efforts.

Enhance security

System patching is crucial for addressing software security vulnerabilities and preventing cyber attacks. These vulnerabilities are weaknesses in the code that attackers can use to gain unauthorized access to systems, steal data, or install malware. Patching also reduces the chances of the system being a target of zero-day attacks.

Zero-day attack

A zero-day attack is when hackers exploit a security flaw in software before the software vendor even knows it exists, making it very difficult to defend against.

Bug fixes

Patching is used to fix bugs, glitches, and errors that may cause software applications or operating systems to crash, malfunction, or exhibit unexpected behavior.

Mitigate vulnerabilities

Regular patching helps organizations mitigate known vulnerabilities, stay ahead of potential threats, and reduce the risk of security breaches and data breaches.

Performance optimization

System patches often include performance improvements and optimizations that enhance the speed, efficiency, and responsiveness of operating systems and software applications.

Feature updates

Feature updates provided through patches offer users access to new capabilities, improved user interfaces, and enhanced compatibility with other software or hardware.

Compliance and regulations

System patching is essential for maintaining compliance with industry regulations, data protection laws, and security standards.

What is the difference between a patch and an update?

A patch is a small piece of software designed to fix or improve a specific issue in an existing program or system. It typically addresses a particular bug, vulnerability, or performance problem.
On the other hand, an update is a broader term that refers to a collection of changes or enhancements made to a software program or system. Updates can include multiple patches, as well as new features, improvements, and bug fixes.

How does system patching relate to security, stability, performance, and availability?

Security: Patches are often released to address security vulnerabilities discovered in software or operating systems. By applying patches promptly, users can mitigate the risk of exploitation by cyber attackers, protect sensitive data, and prevent unauthorized access to the system.
Stability: Software bugs or glitches can cause crashes, freezes, or other malfunctions, leading to system instability. Regularly applying patches ensures that known issues are resolved, resulting in a more reliable and consistent computing experience.
Performance: Some patches include optimizations or enhancements that improve the efficiency and speed of software execution.
Availability: Patching plays a role in maintaining system availability by reducing the likelihood of downtime due to security breaches, software failures, or other issues.

What are the risks of not patching a system?

The risks of not patching a system are multifaceted and can have far-reaching consequences. One of the primary risks is the exposure to security vulnerabilities that remain vulnerable to exploitation by cyber attackers who can infiltrate networks, steal sensitive data, install malware, or carry out other malicious activities such as ransomware. These security breaches can result in financial losses, damage to reputation, and legal consequences for affected parties.
In addition to security risks, unpatched systems can experience decreased performance, frequent errors, and system crashes. This can result in lost productivity for users and organizations and increased IT support and maintenance costs.

2024.05.14 14:36 Environmental-Hat721 AITAH For standing up for my parents.

This happened a few years ago.
During the pandemic my significant other and I were having difficulties. We were already stressed, but the pandemic made matters even worse. Our marriage suffered a great deal and despite efforts things got worse. We went to counciling and it helped a bit but not much. I really think that the key problem were personality differences. I am more inclined to shrug at bad happenings and go with the flow. My SO was more rigid and liked to exert control (or try to) to keep their mind straight. These difference REALLY became pronounced with the pandemic.
A lot happened and we ended up taking a two week workshop that was virtual (due to the pandemic) and during that time my parents agreed to take their grandkids for two weeks. During that two weeks my spouse and I worked on our relationship. I was skeptical about the workshop, but surprisingly it was beneficial. We were getting along better and my spouse even laughed with me a few times. That was something that died away years ago. I was really happy about this. Shocked that it worked but happy that it did.
The two weeks ended and we had to go and get our spawn. A day previous we had learned that the grandparents had taken the grandkids to a restaurant. They are outside, had masks, etc. but this was an egregious violation according to my spouse as they had specifically said to not take them to a restaurant. For me this was an eye roll but for my spouse this was a BIG deal. So to show their assertiveness when we went to get the kids my spouse confronted the grandparents (my parents) about them not following the rules put forth. I was embarrassed because it was such a a small thing and the parents did us a big favor, and it worked. Only to have the progress made tossed aside because of them going to a restaurant. It got out of hand and an argument ensued followed by my parents, who have never done this before, told me that I am no longer welcome, and that they won't be doing anything for us again. I was in shock. My parents always had my back and this was the first time they had ever said anything like that to me. The fight ended and on the ride back, with our kids, my spouse declared that I threw them under the bus as I didn't support them and wasn't on their side. Really I was more stunned than anything and I just wanted to keep the peace. I was super upset and here is my spouse just grinding away at me because our kids went to a restaurant, outside, with masks. The background to this is important. My spouse has a weird relationship with their parents. I can't count the number of times they got into a fight over really strange things and my spouse would be crying for weeks over some random comments or a disapproval from anyone in her immediate family. It was weird. I was always there to comfort my spouse and even had a long talk with my spouses family about some things that they were being judgemental about. It was all in defense of my spouse. Yet my SO would then cast judgement on my parents for going to a restaurant. I felt like this was a fight that my SO picked simply to find ways to get back at me due to all our problems the past few years. Or something like that. The end result is that I was super upset the whole way home and all I heard over and over was that I didn't take my spouses side and it just continued... The progress made was lost that day, I think.
What should have been done? Was what I did really that bad? I keep playing it over and over from time to time and I can't really see what I should have done. The parents did is a huge favor and we repay them by telling them they are wrong while no one was histt and everyone was happy prior to this happening.
Please share your thoughts.
