2024.05.14 19:43 Any_Frosting_4049 Sharing My Son's Mental Health Journey: A Message to Other Parents

I want to share my son's journey with mental health struggles over the past few years in hopes that it might resonate with other parents facing similar challenges.
My son has been battling depression, anxiety, and ADHD since the age of 14. Now at 17, he has endured a rollercoaster of treatments, from various antidepressants to stimulants, non-stimulants, and even antipsychotics. Despite our efforts, his condition only worsened over the years. He became completely non-functional, withdrawing from school, isolating himself in his room, and neglecting basic self-care tasks like bathing and brushing his teeth. He had no friends, no social life- it was heartbreaking to witness.
I remember the frustration of discussing medication options with his psychiatrist. When the topic of increasing his antipsychotic dose arose, I expressed concerns about turning him into a "zombie." Shockingly, the psychiatrist admitted feeling that most their medications had this effect. It was a turning point for us, and we decided to discontinue prescription psychiatric medications altogether.
Finding an alternative treatment path was challenging, especially given the limited options for adolescents in our state. After much research and effort, we finally found a ketamine clinic willing to administer ketamine infusions to him. It's been a couple of months since he started this treatment, and the difference has been remarkable- it's like night and day.
As a parent, I can't help but feel like I failed him by subjecting him to medications that caused unwanted side effects, such as significant weight gain that resulted in stretch marks, which he'll carry for a lifetime. It's disheartening to realize that the first-line medications prescribed often come with potent side effects, while alternatives like ketamine are overlooked or inaccessible even though they work faster, can be more effective, and have a fraction of the side effects
The state of psychiatry in the United States is undeniably broken, and it's devastating, especially when it affects our children. I hope that by sharing our experience, we can shed light on the challenges parents and individuals face in navigating mental health care and advocate for better solutions.

My Experience: Job Search in Berlin [Detailed Post]
https://preview.redd.it/r7jfwloeff0d1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=9f595df7fdb7a6048505ec2ddcb29cee0b64bc47
Hi, I hope this is considered relevant to the sub. I wanted to post this on the berlin sub but my diagram keeps on getting removed. Reddit's been such a great resource for my job hunt and I'd like to give something back.

My background:

MSc in Social Science from a non-German university, 29 years old and 3 years of work experience, not counting work experience gained during uni and not counting internships. I'm an EU citizen, but not German. My German is pretty much fluent - I didn't grow up here, but my dad is a native German speaker. Basically, I speak it without an accent and understand everything with no issue at all but am not very eloquent and can't express myself as well as I can in English. I make minor grammatical errors here and there.

Duration:

The whole process took 2 months; I started looking for a job around mid March and signed my contract yesterday.

Job searching process:

I went through LinkedIn, Xing, Indeed and Stepstone every day. I applied for English as well as German-speaking jobs, based in either Berlin or the EU (remote). I applied both for jobs in industry as well as ÖD, although ÖD was not my preference. I only applied for permanent and full-time positions. I didn't focus on a specific type of job or field, but more on my own skills, experience and interest. Broadly speaking most jobs I applied for were in analytics (but not data analyst jobs).

Applications:

I think I had a good rate of interest taken in my applications. For 1 in 3 jobs I applied for, I was invited to a first interview. The jobs that I was rejected for outright were mostly those that I was underqualified/not experienced enough for and was not expecting to get anyway. I tailored my CV to each specific job, highlighting previous experiences and responsibilities that seemed the most relevant and removing things that didn't seem important at all. I also wrote a cover letter for almost every job, provided they did not explicitly specify that they didn't want one, and even if the cover letter was only an optional part of the application. I didn't get ghosted too much, so that was nice, only about 1 in 4 times.

1st Round:

The first round interviews were a breeze, there isn't much to say here. I received a rejection for 2 out of 13 first interviews. One was because I didn't have experience working with a certain program (was listed as optional on the ad though), the other was a really difficult first round that was more a second round interview than anything else in the sense that it was really technical and I was interviewed by a panel instead of just a person from HR. Still a positive experience, though. The withdrawals were due to: coincided with received offer, salary too low, or just not into the job after all.

2nd Round:

4 out of 6 rejected me after the second round, tbh these rejections kind of stung a bit. One of the unexplained rejections I got was actually after an interview that went extremely well - I really left thinking that I was their unicorn and that the job was mine lol. I still wonder who ended up getting that job.
But generally speaking, the main issue I encountered was how hard it was to interview in German (I already described my language skills above). The first rounds were always easy, but the second rounds were tougher. Coming up with good answers to situation-based questions spontaneously or just BS'ing in German was quite hard. There was still no interview that I completely bombed, luckily enough.
2 out of the 4 companies that rejected me offered feedback calls which was really nice. Just 10 minute phone calls, no video, where they explained to me why they made their decision. The overall feedback I got was pretty vague but boiled down to some of the responses I gave not being detailed enough. I appreciate companies that take the time to do this.

3rd Round:

I only had 2 of these, but my impression is that if you get to the final round (I didn't encounter a company or job that required more than 3 rounds of interviews) your chances are already pretty good.

Final offer and Salary €:

I'm not in love with the job I ended up accepting, my main issue being that the work sounds boring, very bureaucratic and also meaningless. At the same time, everyone I met throughout the process was very nice, they have an office here but they're cool about WFH and additionally I'll be able to work remotely from abroad for 6 weeks a year. So I'm excited to start and overall happy with the opportunity. The salary they offered me is 60k, which I think is good but is probably not according to Reddit's standards. But honestly, as helpful as reading through job-related posts here was, it was also helpful to touch grass, speak with real people that I know and understand that not everyone can be earning 70k+ in their mid twenties, even people in tech. The jobs I was able to get interviews for were all mid-level and had allocated budgets in the range of high 40's to low 60's, which I thought was really broad, but maybe this info could still be helpful to other people with a similar background. I didn't negotiate because the offered salary was already higher than what I was expecting, and also because I needed a job, and also because I genuinely think it's a good salary and is definitely more than enough for me. I've put it into various brutto-netto calculators and expect that I'll easily be able to save almost ~1.5k a month.

Conclusions:

I think I underestimated how how hard it was going to be. My main problem was that there were just not that many jobs to apply for in the first place. I browsed through a lot of job-related subs and noticed how many applications other people are able to churn out, but that was simply not my experience. It was the worst feeling ever to wake up, spend hours browsing various job platforms but have to end the day without sending off an application. My previous job here in Berlin was a freelancing gig that ended unexpectedly, so I didn't qualify for any assistance from the government and was living purely off of my savings, which was very stressful. On the upside, being unemployed meant that I was at least really flexible when it came to making appointments for interviews.
I have a lot of friends who live in more rural areas (Germany and EU countries generally), and I have the impression that they have an easier time getting hired. None of them have had a job hunt that lasted more than a month. I was always under the impression that people move to bigger cities because finding a job is supposed to be easier there, but I guess it really depends on your line of work.
Anyway, I ultimately I think I got lucky! Finding a job really is a numbers game.

2024.05.14 19:02 Money_Spider420 Free and easy £25 in 5 steps Another free £25 for every referral you make Vanquis card

Vanquis is a credit card company aiming to help people from all financial backgrounds improve their credit score and fine tune their financial skills.
Just like any other credit card, as long as you pay off any and all debts before the end of the month, you won’t be losing out on money due to late fees or interest, if anything you will actually be building your credit score this way.
The great thing about Vanquis is that they are currently giving away a no-strings attached £25 for free just for signing up!!!

Step by step guide;

  1. Sign up using this referral link > https://www.vanquis.co.uk/raf-app?code=BC5D0B06FD6905F0FA6E
  2. Wait for the card to arrive (takes about 3 working days on average).
  3. Activate the card on the Vanquis app
  4. Make a transaction of £1 or more (I just topped up my Amazon account by £1 for this but you can also just buy something in any shop (with a value of atleast £1).
  5. Receive £25 credit on your card to spend (£1 of this will be used to cover the £1 transaction you made in step 4).
  6. Refer friends for an extra £25 credit for each friend that successfully completed the steps I have outlined for you above :)
You should receive your completely free £25 within a couple of days, however the terms do state it can take up to 45 days so don’t be worried if it takes a couple of days for your bonus to be applied to your account :).
NOTE: I do not recommend using this card on ATMs as there is an ATM fee when withdrawing money from one using a Vanquis card, but normal card use has no fees :)
Screenshot of the offer: https://imgur.com/a/wBkKRVn
I recently referred a friend that declared bankruptcy last year and they were still eligible for a Vanquis card and a free £25!

2024.05.14 19:00 wtcii Left Prescription at hotel

Long story short, went out of town and left a few things including my prescription at a hotel and haven’t been able to get anything back. Reached out to my doctor to see if there was anything he could do and was no help. I filled my last prescription on 5/1 and been on 70mg Vyvanse since 2016. Never had an issue of any kind nor made a request like this. He said the law prohibited him from doing anything but I’m confident this isn’t true. Anyone have any experience with this situation? Normally I would just use it as an opportunity to take a break but my work year end is this month and the next two weeks are critical. Untreated symptoms paired with a withdrawal right now is not ideal.

2024.05.14 18:36 Objective-Speed-3727 I need someone (or multiple “someones”) to talk to

I’m about to post a slightly edited version of a comment I (35f) left on someone else’s recent post. We’re working on it, but I need support in supporting my partner (48m, father of my 2-year-old twins) through his addiction. Anyone who suffers from this or is with someone who suffers from this knows it isn’t something you just talk to anyone about. 1. it’s embarrassing 2. they tend to immediately tell you to write the person off bc they’re “disgusting” and too far gone 3. you love the person and don’t want others to think or talk negatively about them.
Anyway, here is a very, very short summary of what I’m currently dealing with, and what I have dealt with for much longer than my comment (the copy/paste below) portrays.
Idk, I just need someone who gets it. I’ve cried the last two times we’ve had sex because this relapse was the first one that shocked me. I’d truly believed that he was clean, whereas I’d always doubted him before. Now I feel like I have lost the ability to talk freely about my feelings with my best friend, because I don’t want to kick him while he’s down, and everything that needs to be said (for now) has been said. That doesn’t mean the hurt or paranoia (?) just evaporates.
Keep in mind I was replying to someone else, so there are parts that relate directly to that comment.
Here it is (edited to make more sense in this context):
i’ve been deeeep in the trenches with my partner, too. he has been seeing a counselor (who also suffered from porn addiction) on and off for two years. he loves him; that is key. when he sees him weekly, he is good. he has relapsed a few times, despite the “fail safe” of me having complete access to his phone via “myactivity.google.com”. we are logged into his gmail on our respective phones, and even incognito use shows up as “used google chrome”, but it will have no additional details attached, signaling incognito. yes, he has deleted activity during relapses, but sooner or later, they’ll miss something. guarantee it. Tbh, checking his activity online is secondary. His “tells” are setting earlier alarms (more time in the morning while everyone else sleeps), taking an abnormal amount of time “changing the wash over”, constantly having “stomach issues” which cause him to be in the locked bathroom, sometimes for an hour+, and so on.
I know that it’s just like any addiction. HE has to want it. I was addicted to opiates, and I know that no one can force you or convince you to get clean. I also know how hard it is and how easy it is to relapse and justify as “just this one time.” what matters most to me are the following points: 1. he willingly goes to counseling 2. he does not push back on me checking on his usage and instead asks me to please check his activity so he’s less likely to relapse, knowing something could (will) slip through the cracks 3. when he has relapsed, and I called him on it, his very first reaction was to call his counselor. he did not try to justify or lie.
all that being said, i’m at my breaking point. it cannot happen again without him coming to me and telling me he slipped, rather than me finding out on my own. I have asked again and again only for honesty, not perfection. (struggling with my own addiction, I know temptation sometimes wins. it’s not ok, but what’s worse is deceit,) I will not do it again. I cannot let it consume me. He knows I mean it. When I caught him this past time, I did not cry, did not pack bags, did not yell. I told him I was sorry he was overwhelmed enough to feel that relapse was worth it, and I believed in him. but enough was enough, and I would love and support from a distance. (edit: if I’m being honest, this isn’t true. I said all of that in May 2023. we have since moved six states away from everyone we know and love, and everything I own is here. the government won’t pay to ship all of my things back like they paid to get them here when he was hired into his current job. I no longer have a house or a job there, and because public transportation is so readily available, we didn’t replace my car when it had to be scrapped; I have nothing of my own, even though my mom would let us live with her in a heartbeat. I gave him another chance because not doing so was harder. If it happens again, I don’t care about my stuff. The twins and I will go home and stay with my mom. Stuff is stuff. My babies living in a healthy environment is the most important thing in the world to me—my feelings are secondary. for now, staying here is what’s best, as their father and I are continuing to work through it, as outlined below.)
I went as far as to email his counselor, and he (bf) thanked me for it, surprisingly. I knew ethically he couldn’t respond, but I want him to have 100% truth so he could help accordingly. He put my bf on a strict plan, and he has been sticking to it. The most important thing is that he has ZERO phone usage when he is home, except to check bus/metro times or when his daughter, who lives in another state, is playing softball and his ex wife is sending him updates. otherwise, as soon as he steps in the door, it goes straight to the drawer. (he works at the pentagon in a division that requires top secret clearance, so his phone is not on him during the day and he clearly cannot indulge in that environment).
I fully understand that this has nothing to do with me or his love for me or attraction to me. we have sex often, it’s passionate and fulfilling for us both. not to get too personal, I just want to state that I know he enjoys it, because we typically will have sex for an hour+, and he cums an average of six times. I know he sometimes doesn’t even masturbate (very likely often no erection) when watching. I mean, he’ll turn it on for three mins if he gets the chance, just to get the dopamine hit. it’s that hit of dopamine and, as fucked up as it is, a sort of “companionship” (bf’s word) that requires no effort that keeps the hold on him.
there is much more to the backstory, including him being raped (let’s called it what it is, it was not assault) when he was 10. a 17-year-old girl decided to “teach him what girls like”, which ultimately led to her “showing him” how to have sex. again, he was 10. she was 17. He also did two combat tours in Iraq. there is just so much trauma, but these are all reasons, not excuses. If someone does reach out to me, I’ll share aspects of our relationship that are also relevant.
Anyway…does anyone want to talk? This is my throwaway, but I still get alerts.
apologies for typos or just generally shitty writing—I don’t feel like going back to reread everything.

2024.05.14 18:26 CliffsBae Zoloft Withdrawal + Irritability?

So long story short, I've been on 25mg of Zoloft for 3 years and have no regrets -- it helped me get through a time when my physical anxiety was horrific, and has continued to help me cope with everyday anxiety and intrusive thinking. With my doctor's supervision, I made the decision to attempt to go off of it now that I'm on a couple of new medications. I slowly tapered over the course of a month and have now been totally off of it for about a week.
My biggest physical symptoms during the withdrawal process have been slight nausea, headaches, increased sweatiness, and fatigue/lethargy (and also some wildly vivid/weird dreams). Emotionally, I've noticed a slight increase in the intrusive thinking and mental anxiety (not so much physical), which I was expecting.
But I think the thing affecting me the most right now is mood swings, and particularly irritability. I've swung from high to low moods several times within the course of a day -- usually starting out pretty cheery and then gradually getting lower and lower until I'm on the verge of tears, then eventually swinging up again.
But the irritability I'm feeling is the worst part, and the person it's affecting the most is my partner (who I've been with for 10 months now) -- which probably makes sense considering they're who I spend the most time with. It's really unfortunate timing since we took a big step in our relationship a month ago, and now I'm finding myself annoyed with this poor person's entire personality and suddenly questioning this big step we took (which then, of course, leads to more anxiety).
I'm 99.9% sure what I'm experiencing is related to the medication and not an indication that I should make some drastic decision about our very healthy and thriving relationship, so I'm not looking for advice in that aspect. I'm more just curious if anyone else has had a similar experience with their sertraline withdrawal.

2024.05.14 18:19 bugbrightbolts Positive withdrawal stories? Encouragement needed

Hello! I was very incorrectly misdiagnosed with bipolar 1 a few years ago when it turned out to be autism and c-ptsd, and I'm in the process of starting to come off of my medications. Seroquel is the first one to go as the side effects I experience are terrifying and my insurance company has stopped covering it. I do not think that Seroquel is inherently bad or dangerous, it just isn't something that has ever helped me because I didn't need it in the first place.
I'm having to decrease my dosage with the pills I have left. I've been on Seroquel 150 mg for about six months now, and I'm four days into a lower dose of 100 mg. I'm going to do five more days of 100 mg, and then seven days of 50 mg, followed by seven days of 25 mg, and then if I'm struggling with withdrawals 25 mg every other day for a week, and then 25 mg every three days for a week. This is the schedule I was told to follow by my doctor.
I'm feeling alright so far, aside from my stomach being a mess. I'm worried that it's only a matter of time before withdrawal symptoms hit. I usually do pretty well with coming off of medications (in the past I've quickly tapered off of lithium, lamotrigine, and lexapro without any issues), but I know that this one is a really high-powered.
Most of the withdrawal stories I've read have left me feeling extremely nervous about this whole process, especially because I'm having to taper off of the medication a lot faster than I would like to. Really, the bad stories have left me more panicked than anything that's going on in my actual body. For the most part I'm just ready to get off of this medication that has been hell for me.
Does anyone have a withdrawal success story to share, or any sort of reassurance? Did things such as exercise, looking after gut health, etc. help? Thank you!

2024.05.14 18:17 Easy_Efficiency_2646 AITA for telling my husband I don’t want my MIL helping him

So some back story. My (25F) husband (28M) is an addict. He’s been sober a couple times, has relapsed a few times. He has a very addictive personality. He will develop an addiction to just about anything. Pills, porn, gambling, gaming, etc. he just recently relapsed on pills again and quit cold turkey. His physical withdrawal symptoms have subsided but he’s still feeling the effects mentally. He has issues with lying which goes hand and hand with his addiction. He wants to start counseling, get on medication for his depression and anxiety and just overall wants to better his life. That also includes helping more with the house. I work normally 50 hours a week second shift. I do what I can but honestly I just need help getting the house back in order.
My husband told his mother about his relapse (she always known he has had addiction issues) and basically asked her to help him find doctors and counselors and also help him with the house. I have no problem with her encouraging him. But I feel like it’s overboard. She has called doctors for him instead of having him do it, having him send her his insurance information, finding counselors for him, told him she’s going to come over and clean the house and get it back in order with him.
Like I appreciate the help but honestly I don’t need my MIL coming over to help clean and fix the house. I need my husband to step up and help ME. I kinda brought up the making doctor appointments for him and how he’s an almost 30 yr old man. MIL said that’s just how men are. It’s really starting to frustrate me. I truly think that if he wants to make these changes for his life that he shouldn’t be relying on his mom to hold his hand or anyone for that matter. I’ll support him but I think this is something he needs to do on his own.

2024.05.14 18:10 Middle_Try445 Why isn't birth control helping me?

I've been on birth control for a year now and still have acne and excessive hair growth. I actually asked my gyno to switch to yasmin 8 months ago to get anti androgenic effects and he agreed with that but it didn't help. I stayed on it because I don't have any side effects and now I at least have withdrawal periods, wheras before I would get one every few months.
Did this happen to anyone else? Did you get on spiro then, is there something else that helps? I recently started with inositol (about 2 and a half months) for fatigue and sugar cravings because I know losing weight would help and I'm overweight. I know that inositol alone won't help if I'm not in a calorie deficit, but it's really hard. I just feel like I'm always searching for more information and all I'm being told is to just lose weight and take birth control.

2024.05.14 17:57 NateScorpion105 True "Canon" Ending based off of the TV Show

This is what I think happened based off of the TV Show and what I think most people chose for the ending. Aswell as what I chose for one of my endings. Please don't attack me, this is my opinion. Also I do like the theory that the Legion assimilated into the Brotherhood.
Other: President Kimball is Alive General Oliver is Alive Legate Lanius is Alive Mr House is disconnected but Alive
Intro And so the Courier, who had cheated death in the cemetery outside Goodsprings, cheated death once again, and the Mojave Wasteland was forever changed.
Hoover Dam Victory The Courier, with the aid of Yes Man, drove both the Legion and the NCR from Hoover Dam, securing New Vegas' independence from both factions. With Mr. House out of the picture, the remaining Securitrons on The Strip were hard-pressed to keep order. Anarchy ruled the streets. When the fires died, New Vegas remained, assuming its position as an independent power in the Mojave.
The Courier Preferring neither the best of the NCR nor the worst of the Legion, the Courier was the man responsible for a truly independent New Vegas. He had removed Mr. House from power over the Strip and broken the influence of the NCR and Caesar's Legion in the Mojave Wasteland.
Black Mountain Tabitha and Rhonda went east, through Caesar's land. Occasionally tales of their exploits found their way back west, though few believed them. Eventually the stories concerning the duo were collected and published, and proved to be quite popular with children.
Raul Alfonso Tejada Invigorated by his travels with the Courier, Raul once more took up his guns in memory of his lost Rafaela. Soon after, the Mojave was filled with tales of the ghost-vaquero who hunts down those who prey on the weak.
Boomers Though the Wasteland became anarchic after Hoover Dam, the Boomers' display of power dissuaded fortune seekers from attempting to penetrate Nellis.
The Brotherhood The Brotherhood used the battle of Hoover Dam as an opportunity to retake HELIOS One, and came to control the area between it and Hidden Valley. With no organized opposition, their patrols began monitoring trade along Interstate 15 and 95, seizing any items of technology they deemed inappropriate.
Veronica Santangelo Veronica put her moral sensibilities aside and supported the Brotherhood's new campaign of aggression as best she could. Yet deep down, she understood that it meant their end would surely be soon to follow
The Fiends Their leaders destroyed by the Courier, the Fiends scattered throughout the wasteland. Without the organization of Motor-Runner, Cook-Cook, Violet, and Driver Nephi, they were easy prey.
Followers of the Apocalypse After the Courier ensured New Vegas remain free, the Followers found that Independent New Vegas was even more unstable and violent than before. Old Mormon Fort became excessively burdened by the influx of patients, struggling to provide even the most basic of services
Arcade Gannon Arcade was tending to the locals of Freeside when he learned that Caesar's Legion had been defeated and NCR was being pushed out of New Vegas. Though he found that independence for New Vegas was not all he hoped it would be, Arcade did his best to help the locals govern themselves
Goodsprings With New Vegas' independence formally declared, Goodsprings thrived. More travelers stopped by Goodsprings on their way to and from the Strip, and the locals grew prosperous from the traffic.
Rose of Sharon Cassidy I The slaughter of the Van Graffs and the Crimson Caravan caused no end of trouble for NCR back West. Already struggling, NCR's supply lines suffered further as the two caravans withdrew support until the "massacre in the East" was resolved
Rose of Sharon Cassidy II Cass lived to see the Courier bring down three armies and by her count, that was three more than she'd expected. She'd kept quiet about that, though.
The Great Khans During the Battle of Hoover Dam, the Great Khans quickly evacuated Red Rock Canyon and headed north and east into the plains of Wyoming. There, they reconnected with the Followers of the Apocalypse and rebuilt their strength. Bolstered by ancient knowledge of governance, economics, and transportation, they carved a mighty empire out of the ruins of the Northwest
Jacobstown Thanks to the Courier and Lily, a cure for the nightkin's schizophrenia was found shortly after Doctor Henry's experiment concluded. Nightkin and other super mutants in the wasteland flocked to Jacobstown, and the town became known as a haven where a mutant could find peace
Lily Marie Bowen Encouraged by the Courier to take her medication regularly, Lily's mind eventually attained a semblance of clarity. Her memories dulled by the pills, she cast aside the recording of her grandchildren, no longer remembering its significance.
The Kings Following the Second Battle of Hoover Dam, Freeside came to be known as one of the more stable areas in the region. Ironically, NCR refugees found Freeside safer than most of the rest of New Vegas, where resentment still lingers.
Rex With the transplant of Lupa's brain, Rex gained all of the donor's experiences traveling with the Legion. These melded well with his own memories of the Legion, and his new mind quickly adjusted to the myriad memories
NCR - The Misfits Shaped up by the Courier's advice, The Misfits distinguished themselves during the Legion's attack on Camp Golf. Mags was finally promoted to Sergeant, and the rest of The Misfits received an official commendation. They continued to serve with distinction for many years.
Novac Though Novac was a low-priority target for the Legion, many of Novac's citizens died in its defense. In the weeks that followed, several Bright Followers returned to Novac to help restore its defenses, allowing it to remain independent of the NCR.
Craig Boone Though NCR was withdrawing from the region, Boone remained in New Vegas, finding work as a security guard and caravan scout along the highways. While he might've preferred rejoining his old unit, Boone couldn't bring himself to abandon the city where he'd met his wife.
Powder Gangers - NCRCF After Hoover Dam, the leaderless Powder Gangers at the Correctional Facility vanished into the wastes, leaving the prison empty. The Correctional Facility became another abandoned ruin in the wasteland, its carcass occasionally picked over by enterprising prospectors.
Powder Gangers - Vault 19 After the majority of the Vault 19 Powder Gangers joined the Great Khans, the weaker members scattered throughout the Mojave Wasteland. Though a few managed to erase their pasts, most never survived the journey.
Primm After Hoover Dam, Sheriff Meyers runs Primm with his own style of frontier justice. He deals with most folks fairly, but now and then someone winds up dead with little to no evidence against them
ED-E With its logs cleared and its systems upgraded ED-E remained a vigilant and constant companion to the Courier. The Brotherhood used the information recovered from ED-E to create a small army of Duraframe eyebots.
NCR Rangers Due to the Courier's intervention, Chief Hanlon abandoned his plan to sabotage the defense of Hoover Dam. The rangers assisted the troopers admirably during the Legion's ill-fated attack. Though the Courier snatched victory from NCR, only General Oliver was blamed for the loss of Hoover Dam. Hanlon, exhausted after a lifetime of service to the NCR, stepped down from his position in the rangers and retired to his ranch in Redding.
The Remenats After their bold arrival at Hoover Dam, the Remnants disappeared as quickly as they came. Legends of their power spread throughout the southwest, a reminder of why people once feared the sight of vertibirds in the sky
Conclusion And so the Courier's road came to an end... for now. In the new world of the Mojave Wasteland, fighting continued, blood was spilled, and many lived and died - just as they had in the Old World. Because war... war never changes.
As for what happened after, The Courier tried to help Vegas as much as he could, but with no Army Vegas was anarchy. Then the tunnelers arrived. Courier Six asked for NCR help but they failed. The Courier ashamed with themself left Vegas, never to return.

2024.05.14 17:16 fenway062213 Looking for help getting Soma shades into HomeKit

Once again I’m here looking for some help with troubleshooting another part of my HomeKit setup…
I just moved into a new house and put Soma shade motors on 13 shades (we have a lot of windows, the house is near the street, and privacy is important to us!) I used this brand of shade motors in my last two homes and, except for the occasional hiccup, they worked great. This time around they had an updated version (version 3, here: https://www.somasmarthome.com/products/soma-smart-shades-3 ) The motors themselves work great and are definitely a big improvement over the last version, but I’m having issues getting them into HomeKit.
So, one thing I didn’t realize when I bought them is that the new hub, which is required for version 3, only can connect to 10 shades at a time. No big deal - I ordered another one which is hopefully on the way soon. However, the one hub I currently have regularly changes which 10 shades it’s displaying in the Home app. I’m concerned that this will continue to happen when the second hub arrives, and that each hub will constantly switch up which shades it displays. I asked them about this, and they said I should be able to whitelist the shades on each hub. However, their instructions on whitelisting were a bit sparse, and they only sent me the following:
Use the following links in your computer's web browser to configure the whitelist and set which motors the Connect should see/control
Get the current whitelist: http://somaconnect.local:3000/command?cmd=whitelist
Add a device to the whitelist: http://somaconnect.local:3000/command?cmd=whitelist_add&mac=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
Clear the whitelist: http://somaconnect.local:3000/command?cmd=whitelist_clear
When I clicked the links it just took me to a blank Safari page. That said, I don’t have a Mac (I’m iPad only) but can borrow one if need be. But before I do, I wanted to see if anyone else here has done this, and whether a Mac is actually needed.
I asked them to clarify exactly what to do, but I haven’t gotten an answer, which has been frustrating. So, if anyone here has any ideas, I’d love to hear them. Thanks guys.

2024.05.14 16:54 Ok-Cost-8883 Hives/Zyrtec Withdrawals?

Long story short,
I had which believe an allergic reaction to my old house water (well water) so i got a water softener which at the time solved it. I was on costco allertec daily, which when i tried to stop at the time being. I was nervous maybe placebo effect? At the time? So i kept taking it and not wean off ( dumb me) so this was going on for 3-4 years.
Recently, i was in contact with something that cause my hives to come back. So here i am dosing more on zyrtec, it works some day? Not as effective as before. Then i recently realize whenever i was taking it my esophagus was closing, which at the time i thought it was just because the hives was flaring up. So i stop taking the allertec which i believe i develop an allergic reaction to some fillers in the medicine now and switch up to allegra for the time being with pepcid. Which helped me a bunch, now i get some hives during the day but alot at night time roughly at 7PM.
I tried everything, vitamins, diets laundry detergent even soaps. So everything you named i tried. So i am in this headspace if its something im allergic to or chronic hives or the withdrawals. I been off zyrtec for 3 days, it somewhat getting better at night. I cant even wean off zyrtec because im nervous i might go to the ER lol.
Any suggestion?
