2024.05.15 11:45 ForgetItEveryTime 23[M4F] Ontario, Canada/Online - Nerdy Legal Professional Looking for Someone Fun to Play Games With??

Hey! Hope you're doing well. It seemed like a good idea posting here and my gut is mostly right!
I'm a 23 y/o guy from Ontario, Canada. Currently, I am working at an office here doing some more basic legal work. On the side, I am trying to start my own practice, as I am licensed to practice law here. So I am very passionate about that and the law in general. Particularly with Human Rights and the many issues that renting tenants deal with here. (In fact, I was actually at a hearing representing a client today!).
For reference, I am 6'0", white, wear glasses, 230lbs, shorter-medium jet-black hair, and have brown eyes. Have photos available as well!
Recently, I've been keeping pretty active. Been losing weight like crazy and I have a simple diet that I stick to. So a decent amount of time is spent being active and working.
Besides that, I love to cook. I cook almost every day and I would like to think that I'm pretty good at it. I just BBQ'd some ribs on the weekend that I would love to show you šŸ˜©
I am also really into video games. Mostly whatever I can get into after work. Recently its been a lot of Balatro and WoW. I would also love to try other games with someone else. I love most types of games.
Also completely obsessed with music. I play guitar and have been trying to teach myself piano. Love most types of music and recently I have been listening to a lot of MF DOOM and Madlib beat tapes, along with Kate Bush, Leonard Cohen, and more. Could go on forever about most music haha.
Also enjoy reading pretty often, baking, and currently growing basil and chili peppers. I am also studying/learning Korean if that's at all relevant.
There's a lot more but ideally I am looking for this person: Someone fun and educated, enjoys a longer conversation and just wants to get to know someone. No real physical preferences!

2024.05.15 11:11 n0unce Looking for Grill purchase advice

Hello,
I've had a weber grill for the last 7 years and love it but the size has always bothered me (smallest model that isn't a table set) so I am looking to upgrade in the near future. Now I was looking at a larger Weber, with a table included, just because it's nice to have something to prep meat on, or just plate things, place down herbs or just foil some meat without having to run to a table (or add an extra one). So the Weber Performer Deluxe is what I'm looking at.
However I just got to thinking if there are any alternatives to Weber, or within their line you guys would recc based on your experience? I got to thinking that it would be nice to not have to lift the meat grill to add coals, but that's not a big inconvenience aside from when baking pizza or slow cooking ribs.
Any and all tips or suggestions are welcome, thanks in advance!

Chapter 15: For What Youā€™ve Tamed
ā€œWeā€™ve come a long way, Vikri. Letā€™s finish your story,ā€ Rayner said as he sat down in the same chair, crossing his legs in the same way.; small consistencies that made the task of talking about my past seem a little more routine. ā€œI understand you lost someone important to you that day.ā€
I shifted slightly where I sat. ā€œYeah,ā€ I answered coarsely. I grabbed at the poncho hanging over my shoulders. I remembered what it felt like in my dreams. Radiant warmth always seemed to emanate from it. Not necessarily the poncho itself, but Tengaā€™s memory. I realized that as long as I had those, then he was still here in a way. Iā€™d much rather have him here than his memory though.
Rayner nodded. ā€œI know what thatā€™s like,ā€ he said in a near whisper.
I shook my head. ā€œItā€™s not just that I lost him. Iā€¦I failed,ā€ I rasped. ā€œI couldā€™ve saved him. Maybe if Iā€™d gone back I couldā€™ve gotten the equipment before the fire did. I was too afraid.ā€
Rayner nodded slowly. ā€œAnd now you feel responsible.ā€
I remained silent as I clutched my tail on the couch beside me. Rayner already knew the answer. He pursed his lips. ā€œYeahā€¦I know exactly how that feels.ā€
I looked up at him. For the first time, his eyes werenā€™t on me, but on the adjacent wall as he seemed to ponder something. ā€œYou think about all the things you could have done differently. Things that are so obvious in hindsight,ā€ he sighed and adjusted his glasses. ā€œIf only it were that clear in the moment.ā€ He looked up at me, clasping his hands together. ā€œSo walk me through what happened.ā€
I could still vividly remember the moment Tenga got shot. Everything happened in the blink of an eye. So quickly in fact, that it even took Tenga a moment to realize there was a hole in his torso. Minutes of continuous tension shattered with a hail of gunfire lasting less than a second. The echoes continued to howl through the mountains long after the bodies met the snow. My friend was fatally wounded, the snow around him dyed bright red with his blood. And I had to leave him.
The entire time I was in the belly of the federation destroyer with danger lurking around every corner, all I wanted to do was to get this done as quickly as possible and get back to him. I was enraged that theyā€™d done this to him and to billions just like him.
ā€œTenga was all I thought about the entire time,ā€ I croaked. ā€œAnd Iā€¦I was willing to kill everyone onboard to get back to him, even if there was no way I ever could. Iā€¦ did things I could never have imagined myself doing even just days ago. I tore a chunk out of my leg just to be able to get to the Krakotl pinning me down with a crowbar.ā€ I inhaled deeply, staring down at my reflection in the water, recalling my bloodshot eyes in the reflection of the ship's monitor. The grimly colorful bloodstains in my fur from several different species.
Rayner nodded. ā€œIt was a desperate situation. Many donā€™t see themselves doing things like that until theyā€™re put in a situation where it's necessary. A situation where it's do or die. No one can fault you for that, especially not with all that depended on you.ā€
ā€œI guess I justā€¦Itā€™s just worrying knowing that thereā€™s a part of me capable of that.ā€
The doctor tapped his pen on his notepad as he seemed to think for a moment. ā€œDo you worry that you may have violent outbursts?ā€
I scoffed. ā€œWell, the events of a few days ago provided good grounds for worry.ā€
Rayner nodded. ā€œAggression is common for PTSD victims. It can be difficult to manage intense emotions when your mind is already dealing with so much.
I shook my head. ā€œThatā€™s not the person I want to be.ā€
Rayner nodded. ā€œI know Vikri. Thatā€™s why it's so crucial for you to talk about this stuff. The less all of this weighs on you, the better youā€™ll be able to control those emotions when they arise.ā€
He finished writing on his notepad before taking off his glasses and leaning forward slightly. ā€œSo what happened to Tenga?ā€
The question made my heart sink. My mind went quiet. The second hand of time sounded like the footsteps of a giant marching towardā€¦something. My body seemed to go cold and numb. ā€œHe diedā€¦ā€ I croaked, staring down at the table. That was the first time Iā€™d admitted that to myself verbally in such a direct way. ā€œAnd I tried so hard,ā€ I choked, tears now streaming down my face. ā€œI did everything in my power to save him. I even put Querekā€™s life in danger.ā€
I felt the heat. I could feel cold water dripping from my paws as the burning ship melted the frost accumulating in my fur. I remembered the terrifying hopelessness that gripped me as I gripped Querek and pushed him into the snow. He tried to sacrifice himself for Tenga. What if I had let him? Would it have even worked? Could Tenga accept that?
I recalled the story to Rayner, battling to keep my composure. ā€œIā€¦I watched him die,ā€ I choked. ā€œAnd I was furious. Reese had to pull me off of him. I wanted to doā€¦something, anything, butā€¦he told them not to bring him back. I think heā€¦ā€ I winced at the thought of him considering this. ā€œI think heā€™d rather have died sacrificing himself overā€¦going rabid.ā€
Silence perforated the room for what felt like several long minutes. Rayner sat with his legs crossed, his hand propped up against his mouth. He seemed to become lost in thought for a moment before speaking. ā€œI know how that guilt feels,ā€ he admitted quietly.
I looked at him, somewhat surprised. ā€œYou do?ā€
Rayner nodded, rubbing his hands together. ā€œMy son,ā€ he said plainly, taking a long pause before he continued. ā€œHe and Jesse were very close as kids. Practically brothers.ā€ He tapped on his clipboard with his pen. ā€œI wasā€¦not so available in those days. I was a very different man than I am now. I was still in school. I was always busy, always stressed. I hadn't even considered becoming a therapist. I was deadset on becoming a neurosurgeon.ā€ He scoffed at himself, his head gently shaking back and forth as his gaze grew distant. His delivery lacked that matter-of-fact candor I was so used to by now. He was much quieter; less animated. His eye contact was sporadic and he never stopped fidgeting with his pen. Everything about him seemed suddenly mired in an emotion that was difficult to read. That was when I saw everything we'd done over the past few days for what it really was. Rayner wasn't invincible. He never claimed to be. He was hurt; I could hear it in his voice. He wasn't a person reaching down into the mud and yanking me out by the nape of the neck. He was man covered in mud himself. He wasn't an untouchable hero. Merely a guide.
He continued as that realization struck me. ā€œI loved him as much as a father could. But I was so busy thatā€¦well I wasn't there as much as I'd like to have been. That put a big strain on our relationship.ā€ He removed his glasses and wiped the lenses a few times before he continued. ā€œOne night we got into an argument. Heā€™d just gotten his license. He had an old beat-up car I'd bought him for his birthday,ā€ he chuffed. ā€œA teenā€™s first car is alwaysā€¦eccentric. Thought it was a great deal at the time.ā€ He sighed and nodded slightly before continuing. ā€œHe left the house enraged, speeding down the road. After a few miles, he lost control, swerved off the road, and hit a tree head-on. The airbag never deployed. The car crumpled like a soda can.ā€
I stared at him, speechless as he concluded in a near-whisper. ā€œHe was declared dead at the scene.ā€
The room felt hollow for a few long seconds. I searched for a reply but couldn't fathom the right words to say. Fortunately, Rayner didn't stay silent for long. ā€œLike you, I blamed myself for a longā€¦long time.ā€ He sighed. ā€œAnd it nearly destroyed me.ā€
I stared at the floor, fidgeting with my tail. ā€œHow did youā€¦overcome that?ā€
ā€œWell it didn't happen overnight,ā€ he replied, flashing a brief smile. ā€œIt takes time but, at some point, you have to carry on living. You have to continue loving.ā€ His eyes creased slightly as he looked down at his own hands. ā€œYou have to keep loving,ā€ he repeated in a low whisper.
Loud silence claimed the room again as his words sank in. He was right. It was either accept what happened or live like this forever. Looking at it that pragmatically, the choice seemed easy. Emotions are never so logical though. It wasnā€™t as if he relieved himself of that burden either, it was obvious he still carried it. It justā€¦didnā€™t weigh as much now. Not because it got lighter, but because he got stronger. I eased into speaking again. ā€œIā€¦I'm sorry. About your son.ā€
Rayner nodded. ā€œI'm sorry about your friend.ā€
We both stewed in silence for a minute before Rayner spoke up. ā€œWeā€™ll send you home today.ā€
ā€œYouā€¦really think Iā€™m ready?ā€
Rayner nodded slowly. ā€œI think so. The medication seems to be working, you havenā€™t had any breakdowns since youā€™ve been here. Youā€™ve gotten much better at discussing these things. I think youā€™re equipped to face this now.ā€
ā€œ...Iā€™m afraid,ā€ I croaked.
ā€œOf what?ā€ Rayner asked, leaning forward
ā€œOfā€¦seeing Lucky again. I'm doubting whether I even should. I was never prepared to be her master. Iā€™m just a danger to her.ā€
ā€œVikri,ā€ Rayner exhaled and leaned forward. ā€œYou made a mistake. We all do. But you have a responsibility to her. You should at least see her and face that mistake, or youā€™ll never have closure. What you decide after that is your choice, but I donā€™t think itā€™ll be as bad as you think.ā€
ā€œI hope so,ā€ I sighed.
Rayner clicked his pen and set his notepad aside. ā€œWeā€™ve made you some medication to take home, same stuff you've been taking. The plan is to keep lowering the dosage until youā€™re sleeping without it. Weā€™ve made you some sheets with all the daily doses on them and when to take each one. Itā€™s enough to last you two weeks, then once theyā€™re out, youā€™ll come back here for another session, then if you need it, weā€™ll get you more and keep weaning you off them.ā€
He leaned forward, emphasizing his next words. ā€œAnd I cannot recommend enough that you go to Jesseā€™s support group in between our meetings. Those will help you tremendously, Iā€™m sure of it.ā€
I nodded. ā€œI have his number. Iā€™llā€¦Iā€™ll give it a shot.ā€
ā€œYou won't regret it,ā€ Rayner assured me. ā€œJesse was in the same chair as you not too long ago for similar reasons. He has knowledge from first-hand experience. I can vouch for him, heā€™s a great guy.ā€ He inhaled. ā€œWell, is there anything else Vikri? We wonā€™t be seeing each other again for a while, so if thereā€™s anything else, nowā€™s the time to talk about it.ā€
I thought for a second. Weā€™d covered almost everything. Iā€™d never discussed those days in so much detail. It felt like being submerged in icy water. It was miserable at first, but over time it became easier, even comfortable. Iā€™d relived so much pain over the last three days, but here at the end of the whole story, It felt less like a nightmare, and more like reality. ā€œNo, I donā€™t think so,ā€ I finally replied.
ā€œThen Iā€™ll clear you to go home. Andrea is here, sheā€™ll give you a ride, Iā€™m sure. Here.ā€ He reached over and handed me a small business card. ā€œThat has all my contact information on it. Iā€™m usually here in my office until late at night, so feel free to call if you need anything. If the sedative gives you any issues at all, any side effects, make sure to call and let me know. We followed the recipe to a tee, but itā€™s wise to be cautious.ā€
A familiar silence flooded the room as Rayner and I seemed to, for the first time, have nothing left to say. Finally, the doctor spoke. ā€œSee you in two weeks, Vikri.ā€
///////////////////////////////
Golden strands of light danced between the digits of my paw as I moved it in front of the brilliant summer sun. An intense beacon of warmth floating in a sky as blue as Earthā€™s oceans. The rumble of Andyā€™s car occupied the air as we cruised down the highway. Vivri was sound asleep in the backseat. The gentle white noise and vibration seemed to knock her out cold. I watched the sunrays dance as I waved my paw in front of me, before turning it around. Several spots on my paw still had obvious scars. I even still had burn scars from the electrical systems aboard the crumbling Cardinal.
I curled my paw closed into a fist and rested my head against it, watching the lush, green mountains pass by in the distance. After three days I was set loose into the world once again, hopefully better armed than I was before. Even after all the weight I doffed from my shoulders in Raynerā€™s office, a crushing mass still rested on my chest. Lucky.
The weight only became heavier as the car slowed, and rounded a corner into the parking lot of a large animal hospital. Andy gently brought the car to a stop in a parking space in front of the entrance. Occasionally people would walk in and out with their pets, many of which were dogs on leashes.
Vivri stirred awake after we stopped. ā€œOhā€¦Weā€™re here,ā€ she muttered nervously. ā€œThereā€™sā€¦a lot more animals here than I was expecting.ā€
Andy chuckled. ā€œItā€™s an animal hospital girl, thereā€™s gonna be all kinds of critters here.ā€
I turned around to face her. ā€œYou donā€™t have to go in there. You and Andy can wait here.ā€
Andy scoffed. ā€œYou might wanna tell Rayner they screwed up those meds, ā€˜cause youā€™re delusional if you think Iā€™m letting you go in there by yourself.ā€
ā€œWell I donā€™t want her to be alone out here,ā€ I argued.
ā€œIā€™ll go in, justā€¦stay close, please?ā€ Vivri interjected.
I looked back at her, ears tilted. She was dead serious. I sighed and shook my head. ā€œThis is gonna be a disaster,ā€ I groaned.
Andy opened her door. ā€œIā€™ll wait with her in the lobby, you go talk to the vets. Itā€™ll be fine.ā€
I looked back at Vivri one last time as Andy stepped out. ā€œAlright, just stay away from the cats.ā€ I opened my door and began stepping out into the summer air.
ā€œC-cats?ā€
ā€œSmall felines. They're demons with mind control,ā€ I replied just before closing the door.
Vivri scrambled out of the car and followed right on my heels. ā€œWell donā€™t just leave me!ā€ she squeaked.
I laughed. ā€œIā€™m kidding. Well, mostly.ā€
Walking into the building, I realized that Lucky had been in a very similar place as me over the past three days. The lobby felt eerily similar to the one at the medical center. Everything went silent as Vivri and I walked in. Immediately I could feel dozens of eyes on us. Vivri hid close behind me as Andy gestured for me to follow her to the desk.
I doubted any of the humans there meant any harm, but dozens of binocular eyes snapping onto her in an instant had Vivri more unsettled than she already was. It didnā€™t help that several dogs were either on leashes or in carriers in the lobby, which were no doubt just as curious. I grabbed Vivā€™s paw. ā€œThey don't see many Venlil,ā€ I whispered. ā€œJust ignore them.ā€
I approached the desk with Vivri still hiding behind me. ā€œE-excuse me?ā€ I stuttered. The woman at the desk looked up, clearly caught off guard by two venlil standing before her. ā€œO-oh! Excuse me, you must be Luckyā€™s owner, right?ā€
ā€œYeah. Vikri.ā€ I could feel Vivri shivering behind me.
ā€œIā€™ll let Doctor Gavin know youā€™re here.ā€
ā€œThanks,ā€ I muttered before turning to Vivri. ā€œAre you sure about this?ā€ I whispered.
ā€œOf course! Itā€™s just for a few minutes, right?ā€ Her body language gave an entirely different answer. She seemed like she might faint at any moment.
I looked up at Andy. ā€œKeep her close, would you?ā€
Andy wrapped her arms over Vivā€™s shoulders. ā€œOf course. Iā€™ll keep little Vivi safe from all the big, bad puppy dogs and mean kitties,ā€ she said in baby speak, twisting her side to side. She giggled. ā€œWeā€™ll be fine.ā€ Her tone suddenly shifted as she locked eyes with me. ā€œWill you?ā€
I stood there in silence for a moment. This entire time my heart felt unbearably heavy. Standing there, I felt nauseous. So much so that I made it a point to know exactly where the bathroom was when I walked in. The weight on my chest made breathing a laborious task. I heaved in a deep breath. ā€œI donā€™t know,ā€ I admitted. ā€œI donā€™t know whatā€™s going to happen in there butā€¦I have to do this. For both of us.ā€
Andy exhaled and nodded, seemingly just as nervous for me. Right on cue, the door at the back of the room opened with a heavy click. ā€œVikri?ā€ a male voice called out. An older gentleman in burgundy scrubs surveyed the room. It didnā€™t take long for him to find me. He nodded toward me as he adjusted his glasses. ā€œRight this way, please.ā€
ā€œWeā€™ll be right here,ā€ Andy whispered, her hands still resting around Vivā€™s shoulders, who agreed with a tail flick.
I nodded and walked toward the man, leaving the cozy waiting room behind, and entering a long, sterile hallway. The doctorā€™s shoes clicked against the tile as he walked just in front of me. The weight bearing down on my chest only got heavier with each step. After a few agonizing seconds, the man finally spoke up as he stopped outside a door. ā€œIā€™m Doctor Gavin,ā€ he said breathily, extending a hand. ā€œI performed Luckyā€™s surgery.ā€
I took his hand with my paw, which he could no doubt tell was trembling by this point. ā€œVikri,ā€ I choked. ā€œS-soā€¦How is she?ā€
ā€œSheā€™s good,ā€ Gavin answered in a higher pitch. ā€œSheā€™s recovering remarkably fast. Really lived up to her name.ā€ He opened the door and stepped through into a kennel area as he continued. ā€œThe bullet hit one of her ribs and shattered. A couple of fragments pierced her lung, one of them was just inches from her heart. Thereā€™re still a few very small ones lodged in her tissue, but weā€™d be doing more harm than good by trying to remove them. They shouldnā€™t cause any issues and come out on their own after some time, but weā€™ll keep track of them with x-rays.ā€
As he spoke we passed by kennels, some empty, some with dogs that barked or jumped up on the cage as we passed. I scoured each one for Lucky, my dread building with each one we passed. Suddenly, the doctor stopped in front of me. He inhaled deeply. ā€œI should mentionā€¦Given theā€¦circumstances of how she got these injuries, me and some staff will stay with you just in case she becomes aggressive. Thatā€™s not to say that I think she will,ā€ he added hastily, ā€œsheā€™s been great with everyone here butā€¦you know, just to be safe.ā€
ā€œI get it,ā€ I breathed. It made sense. If Lucky attacked me, it would be far more deadly than it would be for a human. And I was confident even a human wouldnā€™t last long against a half-wolf her size. Fittingly, a group of four humans were gathered at the end of the hallway, catchers in hand.
Time seemed to slow as I approached the pen. The staff members all looked over at me with the same anxious expression. I felt like a prisoner walking toward my judgment, and that perhaps it was me that belonged behind these cages. I swallowed and took a long, slow breath as Gavin opened the gate. He walked in ahead of me. ā€œHey there big girl,ā€ he said in a chipper tone. I heard the familiar thumping of Luckyā€™s tail against the floor. Gavin chuckled to himself as the remaining four staff calmly and quietly filed into the pen. Once they were all inside, the final human leaned around the corner, looked me in the eyes for a long second, and nodded once.
A new reality awaited around that corner. My sentence was about to be read. It felt so cripplingly helpless; wanting so desperately to finally be reunited with my best friend, yet trembling at the thought of rounding a corner to run face-first into the consequences of my actions. I steeled myself one last time. I nodded back at the catcher and took slow, deliberate steps toward him. I finally rounded the corner, and for the first time since the incident, I saw Lucky.
She lay on a large, fabric bed, with food and water bowls close by. Her right front leg was bound in a cast, tied up close to her body. A large patch of fur had been shaved away around her chest and halfway up her neck. She seemed thinner than I remembered. It reminded me of the scared, hungry pup Iā€™d met so long ago.
Her eyes tracked onto mine instantly, and I felt an ache that defied all imagination. The same gaze that would send almost any other Venlil scrambling down the hallway instead gripped some inner part of me in a cold, numb stasis. I couldnā€™t move. Part of me wanted to run to her and spill out how sorry I was. Another wanted to curl up on the floor right there and sob, returning to that familiar numbness that seemed akin to the ancient enemy of life itself. The cold. That bitterness that pierced through fur, through flesh, through bones, and any ideal held by the naive child that sat next to Tengaā€™s corpse that day. It ran through until there was nothing left.
Then, I felt a warmth as if someone had draped a blanket over me. I gripped my poncho around my shoulders, grabbing it tightly. I made a quiet promise to myself there and then. Not a promise to my sister, or my parents, or Andrea. Me. I wouldnā€™t lie down in the cold. Never again. One more hill.
ā€œHey Lucky,ā€ I said, my voice coarse and breaking every syllable.
The silence was abruptly broken as Lucky, though seemingly frail, shot to her feet. Everyone in the room shifted, prepared for the worst. I didnā€™t dare move, but I could feel my heart pounding in my legs, my body preparing to bolt. The staff watched her carefully, their grip slightly tightened around their polls. Lucky made no sounds, only stared at me, her nostrils flaring as she gathered my scent. Her right front leg was useless, immobilized against her body. She shifted her footing to steady herself. Then I saw something that replaced fear with tears. She was shaking like a leaf, never taking her eyes off me. She could care less about the others. She was scared. Of me.
I felt myself fall off a ledge in a sensation Iā€™d become all too familiar with over the last few weeks. Tears streamed down my face, my breath hitching as I brought my paws up to my face. I fell to my knees, the presence of the staff had become irrelevant. ā€œIā€™mā€¦Iā€™m sorry,ā€ I exhaled between gasps. ā€œIā€™m so sorry.ā€
So there it was. My new reality. It wasnā€™t what Iā€™d hoped for, but it was what I expected. I didnā€™t know what Iā€™d do then, and I didnā€™t know now. Could I go on without Lucky? She was the one fortress in the turbulent seas of my broken mind. She was the one I could always count on. The one that I knew would always be there, no matter what. Now I was convinced she was terrified of me.
I sat there a shattered mess for a long moment, tumbling off that cliff and reaching out for anything to catch myself, but found nothing but jagged stones. I felt a hand on my shoulder, Doctor Gavin attempting to comfort me, I assumed. Until I felt something touch my knee. I looked up, thrown out of the spiral abruptly. Lucky was now just in front of me, licking my leg. I froze, confused. She gently laid down, careful of her bandaged leg as she rested her head on my leg, looking up at me. That was the same leg sheā€™d broken months ago. Finally, I got it. ā€œI hurt you, and you still loved me.ā€
A wave of relief rushed through me and I looked down at her, eyes glossy with tears. I bent down and rested my head against hers. I laughed, though it sounded more like a sob. For the first time in days, I felt whole again.
Lucky still loved me.

2024.05.15 09:53 Impossible-Type-1276 I [28F] told my Partner [35M] of 8 years that i dont want to work anymore and that he needs to stop dumping his responsibilities on me

TL;DR
For context, I am a Massage Therapist [28F] while my partner [35M] is a Line Cook. We've been together for 8 years and We have a six-year-old child. When I got pregnant in 2017, we were still boyfriend and girlfriend and not living together. I continued working while pregnant to cover my expenses and rent since I was living alone.
When I reached my sixth month of pregnancy, I decided to move in with him because I couldn't continue doing massages, and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to pay the rent. I thought it would be easier if I had someone to support me financially since he was still working in a call center at that time. However, when we started living together, he had a conflict with someone in his company and he resigned. He didn't apply for another job since then. (I was seven months pregnant when he resigned).
We were in a tight situation, but luckily we were able to live with his family, so we didn't have to pay rent. I went to public hospitals for my check-ups and delivery, so we didn't have to spend money on that. But for our food and our baby's needs, his mother provided for us. At that time, his two siblings were still in college, and his mother was only selling food, so the budget she left for us was only 50 pesos a day. We would get our meals from the food she sold.
I felt really embarrassed to ask for more, to the point that I ran out of money to buy cleaning supplies for my stitches after my C-section. I used panty liners to cover the wound. I didn't want to ask for help from my parents because since I got pregnant, my parents didn't want me to be with him. I was the one who insisted.
Six months after giving birth, I went back to doing massages even though it was difficult for me, and he's left at home to take care of our child and do the household chores. But whenever there's an opportunity, I also help out because he always says that being a house husband is tiring. I really forced myself to work because I felt sorry for us, always relying on handouts. I tried telling him to find work, but the thing is, he keeps flunking the medical exams because of his lung scar. When he applied and failed, he didn't want to try again.
Since then, I have been the one shouldering all the expenses, from baby's needs, food, baptism, birthdays, Christmas, and everything else. My brother forced him to work as a construction worker, and he did it for almost three months, but when the project was finished, he lost his job again. Fast forward In December 2023, his friend got him a job at a restaurant, and he asked me to quit my job so that I could take care of our child. So I resigned, but I still do freelance work twice a week to supplement our budget.
However, there was a problem with their job, so the one-month salary they were supposed to receive was not given immediately. I used up my earnings to support him and our household expenses (bills, food, and our child's school allowance). I was forced to work again because we had nothing left. After two months, he found another job. We both started working, and we hired someone to take care of our child.
I told him that we should split the expenses, but he refused because he only earns minimum wage and he thinks I earn more. I earn 700 pesos per day plus tips (400-700 pesos per day), and on my two rest days, I do freelance work and earn 3,000 pesos weekly. So our weekly budget is 2,000 pesos, including our child's allowance. I divide it into two so that we each contribute 1,000 pesos. Since I earn more, I pay for the water, electricity, internet, caregiver's fee, and gas. The 1,000 pesos is his only contribution, but he still pushing to cut down on what he's chipping in. He wants me to reduce his share so that he can buy things for himself since he thinks I earn a lot. I don't want to agree to that.
I understand that maybe now, since he has finally earned some money through his hard work, he wants to be able to buy the things he desires. But what about our child's needs? I want him to be obligated to provide for our son, but I can't really say it. I always get scared when I try to voice out my feelings because he gets angry right away and says I talk too much.
I'm really struggling, but I have no one to talk to because I don't want my family's view of him to change. I can't even tell his family because they are still his relatives. I don't have any close friends I can confide in. It's difficult because he is a good father to our child, he doesn't cheat on me, and he is caring, especially before when he didn't have a job. He just doesn't have a provider mindset.
I have already told him before that in my line of work, I can't avoid indecent proposals and harassment, even though I don't tolerate them. It's inevitable that there will be people who will try to take advantage. That's why I don't want to work anymore, especially since I have been the only one working throughout our relationship. We've been together for 8 years. If we count the days we've been together, he hasn't even worked for a year yet, he just agrees without making any effort to apply for a job.
I'm so tired, I feel like I'm completely neglecting myself and my mental health. I understand what I should do, the thought of separating has crossed my mind, but I'm worried about the impact it would have on our child. I also don't want to add more worries for my elderly parents since they are both senior citizens. I'm really struggling with this decision.

2024.05.15 09:29 SuitableLettuce Is it selfish to want only dry screws?

After many years of scrimping and saving, I've managed to obtain my very own bottomless money pit apartment on the outskirts of Sydney. So, naturally I believe it's a rite of passage for me to attempt putting up a shelf.
I have two main (of a billion) questions. Firstly, I understand that electrical and plumbing work need to be performed by a licensed tradesperson. I watched one episode of Better Homes and Gardens 22 years ago, and it's always stuck in my memory. Also, the best lamb recipe in the cooking segment - but I digress.
  1. I want to put up a shelf in the ensuite. I put on big boy pants and went and bought a drill and seemingly one of every single drill-bit that Bunnings sell. I'm looking forward to cracking my first tile, but I am not looking forward to nicking a pipe or cable, or the ultimate scrotum shriveller - nicking both simultaneously. There is already a towel rack on that wall, so there's hope for my grand plan. What I'd like to know is if there is a resource that's easily understood by a common idiot about building codes and stuff so I might have a general idea of where the pipes are? Such as "all pipes must be installed at XX height from blah blah" so I can avoid calling an emergency wrench wielding crack displayer. I got a good quality stud-finder from the green tin roof temple, but somehow it's tells me everything and nothing is a stud at the same time. The instructions said to place my other hand on the wall, but I don't buy into all that astrology and crystals mumbo jumbo.
  2. Many of my power points and light switches are looser than a stool after a sweaty evening session down at the local vindaloo dispensary. I have a feeling the previous owner felt themselves a bit handy and may have grabbed a 10 pack of Shenzhen house igniters from the Reject Shop and whacked them in the walls himself. Going by number of dodgy wall outlets and the empty little bag of drugs I found under the sink on settlement day, it's probably likely that's the case. Is there such a thing as, like, an electrical audit? Can a sparky come in and replace the outlets and tell me that the wiring is safe without having to pull all the gyprock off?
Lastly, is there a reputable way to find good area-local tradies apart from wildly googling and looking at every website that can afford good SEO. My distaste of being stung by service people is only second to that of bees and wasps, and it's happened to me before when I fell for a flashy Squarespace template. I'm happy to reasonably pay for deft hands with tools rather than web design.
TL;DR Mildly ambitious smoothbrain bought a drill and wants to know how to not fuck up his property.

2024.05.15 09:15 Smooth-Pen-8668 How do you know when itā€™s not worth it to continue relationship? 29F w/ 32M for 10 years

I (f29) have been with my partner (32m) for 10 years now. We are not married, but he did give me a ring over 2 years ago when we found out I was pregnant. He didnā€™t exactly ask the question in the moment, and we have never honestly discussed actually getting married. And at this point I feel this terrible fear about the idea of it now, because Iā€™m so unsure of whether or not to continue our relationship. There have been a number of things I have told him I need from him in our relationship over the years, and they are always the same things. I donā€™t feel like heā€™s affectionate towards me, like we have cuddled in bed or on the couch maybe 3 times in the last year or so at least. That carries over to our sex life, which is often initiated by me, and only happens a couple times a month tops. He doesnā€™t really like to go out and do things (dinner, movies, etc). He rarely attends my familyā€™s get togethers (even though I take our daughter to his familyā€™s parties even if heā€™s not going, which he doesnā€™t 90% of the time) I work part time weird hours and he works full time so we donā€™t have to pay for day care. When Iā€™m not at work, Iā€™m on duty with our child and handle paying bills (with both our money), doctor visits, grocery shopping, socializing our child, doing all laundry, dishes and cooking. He works long hours and hasnā€™t tried to get a different job like I suggested because he says he often complains of being gone too much. (Please keep in mind, our monthly bills TOTAL are less than $1.2k. Mortgage, water, electric,no car payments. Itā€™s not like we are in desperate need of money) Iā€™ve also expressed to him that when he is home, I wish heā€™d be more present. He spends a lot of time on his phone texting his buddies, scrolling and sports gambling. And I get wanting to wind down after work, it just feels like heā€™s missing things because he literally is sometimes. Now Iā€™ve communicated all of this to him. Multiple times, for each thing Iā€™ve listed. Usually things improve for a week or maybe a couple weeks. Then slowly but surely, itā€™s the same and I feel the same as I have many times before. I guess Iā€™m hoping maybe thereā€™s someone out there who will read this and find similarities. And maybe they have some advice for me. How do you know when to stop? If it wasnā€™t for our child, I feel like I might already have been gone. Iā€™m tired of feeling like Iā€™m never a priority when I have put him and his mental health above mine. And now with a child I feel even smaller. He is truly a good dad, and I know he loves me, but sometimes I wonder if itā€™s enough. I donā€™t want to bash him like I am perfect because Iā€™m not, but I just need to know if my feelings are valid. Thank you to anyone who takes a second to read this or comment, I donā€™t have anyone to talk about this with, but even just writing it out feels kind of therapeutic.

2024.05.15 08:23 Perfect-Canary-3033 Visiting gf for a 1 month as an unemployed individual on B2 visa. how do you strengthen by chances of not being sent back my CBP officer?

I intent to visit my gf on a B2 visa for a month, I am currently unemployed and was previously employed at a big tech company that I left before I got my VISA approved on ground of business school visitation, and I intent to apply for business schools later this year, and visiting some of my preferred schools will be my secondary objective for this visit, also this is my first travel abroad. I am from a developing nation.
I'll be staying with my gf, moving from West coast to east for 2 weeks each.
Considering I have sufficient funds, 6K USD for my visit.
How do I strengthen my chances of not being send back? I know the whole gf visitation, plus, being unemployed puts me at risk of being denied entry, I intent to bring along my bookings for a return flight
1.Should I make school visitation my answer to purpose of visit, and only mention my gf when asked where I'd stay?
2.will having some English proficiency exam scheduled on return in my home country help to prove my intent of return if asked?
3.would having some small loan on electrical appliances help to show strong ties or does that put things against me. ( I only have phone/cooking gas bills to show)
  1. I also would have confirmations for school visits on varied dates through this 1 month period.
  2. Any other suggestions to strengthen my case.
All in all, slightly paranoid of being rejected, we have waited over 3 years through COVID caused visa restrictions, so would like to make this visit happen.

2024.05.15 08:01 dudeude Frigidaire Professional electric burner stays on

Hi repair guys! I am a homeowner and I have a problem with my Frigidaire Professional electric slide in range. Model is CPES3085KF3 and it served me well for the last 13 years. Recently my wife noticed the large burner isnā€™t as hot as before and she had to crank it up to get the same results while cooking. But today it shat the bed. The burner in question would not turn off. I unplugged the range and did some research. No error codes. Turning the dial shows the level but doesnā€™t turn off. I first suspected the control (dial). Unfortunately the part (control) is not available anymore it actually comes with all the dials as they are all interconnected . But I did some measurements on the element and I see resistance about the same as for the other control knobs. So I am not sure thatā€™s the culprit. I wonder what else to suspect. Any pointers would be appreciated. I am now looking in getting another range since a control board is in the hundreds and it may not be worth sinking too much money without knowing for sure what the defect is. I was looking to replace it with a current model. I am looking at newer PCFE3080AF or a Gallery model GCFE306CBF and I was wondering if it is worth the difference in price. I still have a Frigidaire microwave above the range and I was looking to keep the same aspect. Any advice would be appreciated.

2024.05.15 07:51 --yikes-- New array of symptoms, looking for direction

Hi!
27F 5ā€™6ā€ 145 lbs No medical history No allergies Nexplanon implant Occasional drinker, daily nicotine user though currently trying to winnow down
Lately, as in the last year or so, Iā€™ve noticed some overall health changes. I am currently looking for a new PCP, but wait times where I live are pretty extensive, so Iā€™m hoping to get some advice from all of yā€™all on whether there is any correlation between these things/whether thereā€™s anything specific I should relay or advocate for when I get an appointment.
New symptoms notable to me: - fatigue - I feel like Iā€™ve noticed some heart palpitations/arrhythmias. After listening with a stethoscope, I heard what sounds like a stutter every third beat or so. It doesnā€™t happen too often, but I notice it happens more often when Iā€™m laying flat or on my left side - brief sharp/electrical pains across my ribs and chest - muscle twitching, most common in my legs - itchy spells. These happen anytime and anywhere but most commonly in the later part of the day/night. Along with them, I now have raised skin whenever I scratch the area, which is new to me
Unsure if relevant, but I did notice a painless, hard lump right behind the curve of my jaw about 2 years ago. My PCP at the time was not concerned; he took some blood tests (normal) and ordered an ultrasound but I was unable to schedule it before my insurance network changed. Maternal great grandfather had Hodgkins. As far as I can tell, it has not changed in size.
Any insight / advice / direction / knowledge would be greatly appreciated!!
ETA: itchy raised skin thing on the leg

2024.05.15 05:38 Ordinary-Piccolo-857 Our electricity consumption has more than doubled when we moved house, to a new, more efficient house. Is there anything that could be wrong?

Hi all,
We recently moved to a very new house, built with 7 Nathers ratings, double glazed everywhere, insulated with solar panel and solar water. It has induction cooking. We thought our bills would be cheaper and they have more than doubled! In our old house, we used to have about 12 -15 kWh per day on average in different months, I was just checking our old bills. We are a family of three, sometimes we work from home, but not always.
In this house, we're spending over 27 on average! I'm very confused. We've been here less than a month and we haven't even turned on the AC yet (we're in Melbourne). Our washing machine was disconnected for two weeks and our tv broke in the move, so we weren't even using it. Even in days we've not been home for most of the day, the consumption is over 20 kWh. Would this be normal difference in consumption because we moved to induction and electricity hot water (we do have solar water too).
Thanks if anyone has any advice on who to contact, or where to look for more info it would be greatly appreciated. We called our company and they said it was actual consumption so there's nothing they can do. Thank you all!

2024.05.15 05:23 TerrapinTurtlepics The one Iā€™ll always miss ..

Did I truly feel something in my heart that I never felt before with you. Was it my only chance? Iā€™ve never believed in anything like that.
We are worlds apart now. I moved on quickly on purpose.
I smile beatifically but my heart feels empty and cold. He tells me that my face shows how much I love him. My eyes are tired. He is kindhearted, he is easy and heā€™s enough .. but he was not you.
He is already gone .. and he wasnā€™t even real.
I moved on while my heart screamed and raged and despair coated my insides. I moved on .. numb and forcing my grief deep under the weight of my responsibilities, my childrenā€™s needs and survival. I can robot my way through any tragedy or trauma. I always survive.
My heart had been hidden for so long, so long. It was terrified to take a chance on you. It thought I had found someone that felt like a home might ā€¦ why did it feel like I had known you forever? You felt it too LW.
Remember the night I massaged your shoulder? I could feel how deeply you needed touch, needed intimacy and sweetness. My touch gave you goose bumps and as the knots gave way, you collapsed into my lap.
Neither of us are people who feel safe with others, but we did with each other. You made me laugh until my sides hurt, looked into my eyes and made electricity.
I canā€™t remember anything, but I remember everything about us. Playing jazz and grabbing my waist to kiss me while we cooked dinner. Watching the sunset from the roof of your apartment. I felt alive again.
Maybe Iā€™m fā€™ing crazy and loosing my goddam mind after feeling a tiny glimmer of hope after a lifetime of bad relationships and dysfunctional family and ..
You were right, we are not in the same place in life. I would keep you from achieving the plans you have made. I have kids in school, you are retiring. You can go anywhere. Is it wrong I wish you were poor like me? I would feel like I won the lottery.
I wish we both could let go of the romance and be something like friends .. you travel the globe, we would never see each other again - it would be enough.
Why wonā€™t you allow that? I would do anything for that much. I would never mention the past.
Just let me feel the peace of really being seen one more time. I donā€™t believe it will ever happen again.
I miss you.
Alwaysā€¦. A. Person who despite her best efforts, will never forget you.

2024.05.15 04:19 AmbitiousBlock6879 Support and advice

One year ago I adopted two female Burmese cats. Originally it was three of them, the two girls and a boy who all lived with an elderly lady who sadly passed, hence why they were up for adoption. I adopted the two females, because the male had already been adopted and I didnā€™t want to spilt the two girls up. They arenā€™t siblings, they just had the same owner. Thereā€™s about a year between them. The place I rescued them from a recognised rescue centre, it was a little strange in that it was a little bit run down, but the cats seemed in good health when I visited them. And then brought them home immediately, I was sent all their paperwork etc in a couple of weeks by post and it all checked out:
The older female (6 years old) she is very confident and friendly. However, she loves to chew plastic, bags for life, electric cables and also loves to obsessively lick my skin.
The younger female (4) is more grumpy and reserved. However does love a cuddle here and there. She will literally grab food and run off with it. She will also persistently try and open kitchen cupboard doors. When she succeeds at openining them, both of the cats will eat whatā€™s inside (including a whole packet of bread sticks, a tea cake, a packet of crisps)
I adore these cats! I obviously feed them twice a day, as advices by the James wel beloved bag on how much to feed in door cats. I feed them 21g twice a day.
Although I feed them plenty, they still try to get to my food and my housemates food. They will snatch and run off with food. Put their heads into stuff and go crazy, acting like they havenā€™t eaten. I also had to move the kitchen bins into the bathrooms because they were knocking them over and eating out of them.
I got some cable ties for the cupboards and they lasted a while, now theyā€™ve managed to open them again.
I worm them regularly as directed by the vet so Iā€™m not worried about that.
Personally I think itā€™s a behavioural thing, and theyā€™ve learnt if they do it theyā€™ll get more attention even if itā€™s annoyed at them attention.
They are indoor cats, they always have been, and due to their age and gullibility Iā€™m not sure Iā€™d want to let them out. I live in a busy city.
They have each otherā€™s company and also my flat mate whilst Iā€™m at work.
Iā€™d like to train them not to go onto the kitchen counters because they really get themselves in the way when Iā€™m cooking. Especially if itā€™s meat or fish, itā€™s impossible to have them in the same room without them going ballistic and trying to get the items that smell good to them.
Iā€™ve basically just rantedā€¦ Iā€™m wondering if anyone has any advice or has had any similar situations which they have solved etc.
Also fyi, I donā€™t have a door on the kitchen, otherwise that would be an easy win.
Many thanks

2024.05.15 03:28 Impossible-Type-1276 He wants to reduce his weekly contribution to our budget and expenses, but I didn't agree. I [28F] told my Partner [35M] of 8 years that I don't want to work anymore and that he needs to stop dumping his responsibilities on me

TL;DR
I informed my partner that I no longer want to work. We have been together for 8 years, and I am a massage therapist (28F) while he is a line cook (35M). We have a six-year-old child.
(Note: I was seven months pregnant when he resigned).
I used panty liners and tape to cover the wound. I didn't want to ask for help from my parents because since I got pregnant, my father and mother didn't want me to be with him.
Since then, I have been the one shouldering all the expenses, from baptism, birthdays, Christmas, and everything else. My brother forced him to work as a construction worker, and he did it for almost three months, but when the project was finished, he lost his job again. In December 2023, his friend got him a job at a restaurant, and he asked me to quit my job so that I could take care of our child.
The thought of separating has crossed my mind, but I'm worried about the impact it would have on our child. I also don't want to add more worries for my elderly parents since they are both senior citizens. I'm really struggling with this decision. Should I give in to him again? Should I cut him some slack and reduce his contribution even more?

2024.05.14 23:35 Big_Mushroom7089 cooking chicken stew overnight (electric hob)

so i need to make stew to use up some chicken, but I've left it until quite late in the night to start, since this isn't actually my dinner its just because the rest of the chicken needs using. i would usually cook it over about 2 hours on lowish and then let cool completely before putting in the fridge, but doing that tonight would keep me up until an unreasonable hour in the morning, so would it be okay to instead stick it on the lowest heat and let it cook over the course of like10 hours while I sleep? i have an electric hob so its not a fire hazard as best I can tell, but I'm somewhat concerned about it all sticking to the bottom of the pan and burning, or the chicken just going really tough or something from being cooked for too long.
i don't want to leave it out not on heat overnight, especially since its hot in my flat, but I also wont put warm/hot things in my fridge, both for obvious food safety reasons, so this is the best compromise I can think of? anyway, thoughts on how it would go or if this is viable? my backup plan involves setting an alarm for 4am to get up and put it in the fridge once its cooled, and for obvious reasons I really don't want to do that
anyway any advice is appreciated, and for obvious reasons this is somewhat time-sensitive

2024.05.14 22:20 tweavergmail Tips for smoking uneven ribs?

Generally, I'm pretty good with smoking ribs, but I really struggle when one half the ribs are significantly thicker than the other. Not a lot of selection out where I live, so I basically have to buy what the store has. Two options I've come up with are cooking SUPER low (like 200), but that generally takes too long. Other option is trimming the super thin meat and/or cutting the entire rib in half where in thickens so I can remove the thinner part earlier in the cook.
Any other suggestions?

2024.05.14 22:12 LossLucky4012 my wings of fire fantribes and the continent they live on

Some added information: This hypothetical arc 4 takes place around 7 years after flames of hope, contact between pantala and pyhria has been cut off somehow, and the seawings sent out to contact pantala have instead found polreca, filled with new dragons, and a war
New continent: Polreca
Polreca is a third continent in the wings of fire world, the largest out of the three, with five tribes to inhabit it
Geography:
At the center of Polreca, we have the active volcano Flaming Peak, and the palace of the Cavewings, nearby in the surrounding area charred by the volcano's eruptions, we have the Flamewing palace, and on a mountain rivaling the size of jade mountain, (or agate mountain before the landslide in legends darkstalker) we see the Thunderwing palace, placed by the northern shore of Polreca is the coastal redwoods forest you see the Sizzlewing palace, and dotted around we have some of the few cave openings with direct paths to the areas where Protowings make their homes.
New tribes:
Thunderwings
Thunderwings are dragons with instead of four legs and two wings they have two legs and two wings, They also breathe lightning, they live in the tallest mountains in Polrecah, they are very intelligent dragons, smarter than the nightwings ever will be, this would lead to some beef between the two tribes, they often fly into storms for fun, with them having scales that have direct nerve connections with a lightning pouch in their throat, they can gain electricity from being struck by lightning, but they also have another organ that allows them to breathe electricity without being struck by lightning first, it is common for the queen and her challenger before a battle for the throne to go into a large lightning storm to charge up, this is also where the challenge takes place. However, thunderwings must be careful, because if they arenā€™t, they may be inflicted with ā€œstorm sicknessā€ an affliction that is caused by overcharging in a lightning storm, leading to less energy, weak lightning breath, and fatigue, storm sickness can last anywhere from 2-3 days, to 3-10 years, and can even be permanent
They are named after different storms, cloud formations, etc.
Queen: Queen Thunderclap
Princess: Cumulonimbus
Prince: Typhoon
Characters of note: Stratus (a pale thunderwing with a keen mind for innovation, and if he gets angry enough, you donā€™t want to be in his way)
Flamewings
Flamewings, are the most Phyrria and Pantala esc dragons on Polreca, they are similar to skywings with flamescales, except thatā€™s their entire population, though instead of breathing fire, they breath ice oddly enough, this works by gathering all of their cold into a sac in their throat, and allowing it to be expelled along with their liquid nitrogen like saliva, creating ice cold enough to induce frostbite in even icewings, however this equates to normal frost breath effects on other Flamewings due to their scales being super heated, they live near Flaming Peak, the active volcano at the center of Polreca, they are capable of living here due to their scales being able to withstand the heat of the lava.
Their names often follow along the lines of wildfire, ash, charcoal, etc.
Queen: Queen Ash
Princess: Wildfire
Characters of note: Princess wildfire (A somewhat shy dragon, with a burning desire to be a strong and reliable leader for her people, and during the first few books she butts heads with Echo often)
Protowings
Protowings are ancient dragons, from long before the scorching, living fossils so to speak, they have no fire breath, no venom, no gills, no camouflage, no silk, no frost breath, and their wings don't allow for self powered flight, but do allow for short glides, their scales/skin is thin and almost salamander like, they are an assorted amount of colors from black to white to red to blue and everything in between, they require water to lay their shelless eggs in, oh yeah they have eggs similar to amphibians, their lifespan is up to 500 years old and they are considered adults at 200, they live in small communities, of about 15 adult individuals maybe more that aren't adults, living in deep caves underground, where even seawings have trouble seeing, this darkness has never bothered the protowings, they are not that big, the oldest being about the size of clay in book 1, and they feed off of moss that grows in the caves and small bugs that also make the caves their home, their claws are dull, and their fangs small and useless, leading to then making rudimentary tools out of assorted rocks, with obsidian being commonly used, they have perfected hoard mentality, when one is threatened they release a call that can echo through the caves easily, this alerts the rest of their community, allowing them to swarm the threat and bring it down, they also commonly have severe photo phobia, fear of the light, meaning that if you want to see them you need to catch one while its hunting or foraging nearby, they are masters of their caves, easily being able to navigate thanks in no small part to their echolocation and gecko-like feet.
How they are named differs from community to community, in one, they might be named after cave formations like the Cavewings, in others they may be named similar to the cats from the warriors series(which Sutherland also worked on) with a prefix and a suffix.
Queen: they have no queen as they have no main kingdom
Characters of note: beetleā€™s leg, bugā€™s jaw
Cavewings
Cavewings are underground living dragons with no wings and stone like scales with different colored scales dotting their hide like gems, they live in the caves all across Polreca, not as deep as the protowings, but pretty deep, they have night vision, echolocation (like the protowings), and they are the greediest of all dragons, they also have scales that are near impenetrable, to the point that even things like flamesilk and rainwing venom have a hard time getting through, they are also effective burrowers and capable of launching themselves high into the air with no ceiling obstructing them high enough to snatch flying Flameings out of the air when the try to cross the border, making them near impossible to attack which is bad because the Flamewings and Cavewings are at war, they also do not eat like other dragons, they use lava they find by their main palace in Flaming Peak to cook their prey alive, dunking it in the lava and holding it there until it is thoroughly charred, and eat it like that, but certain groups use Flamewings to cook their meals, this has been announced to the flamewings that it was made illegal by the queen but this practice is unfortunately getting used more and more, with ā€œrumorsā€ stating that the queen has only said that she made it illegal but has in fact encouraged it, even going as far to say that she has three Flamewings at all times to cook her meals, hence why they are at war with the Flamewings.
They are often named after cave formations and minerals
Queen: Queen Stalagmite
Princess(s): Echo, Stalactite, and Cavern
Prince(s): Ravine, Drip, and Bat
Characters of note: Prince Ravine (a large cavewing who has no real friends outside of the other protagonists, his attacks have been described as ā€œfeeling like being hit by a mountainā€)
Princess Echo (A smart cavewing with what her mother and sisters call ā€œa weird obsession with the flamewingsā€ Saying ā€œThey are nothing but tools for us to useā€ Echo is of course disgusted by the fact her family thinks like that)
Sizzlewings
Sizzlewings are effectively snakes with wings, and masters of venom, poison, etc, they have the unique ability to synthesize venom of things they eat, able to eat say, a dragonbite viper and create a venom that mixes their Rainwing esc venom with it, you see, by ā€œdefaultā€ their venom is similar to a rainwing, but their venom is slow acting, meaning if it gets on any other dragon, (aside from Flamewings and Cavewings) they will be slowly burnt and horribly scarred, but when they hatch they have venom that is no worse than a bee sting, but when they turn 14 their venom glands are fully developed and their venom would make a rainwing blush, they have full immunity their own venom and how they fight is that they wrap their enemy in their body, and bite them, shooting venom directly into their body and watching them squirm and perish, slowly, and painfully, this actually leads into their most common profession: Assassins and mercenaries, the sizzlewings are widely known to be a tribe who will side with whoever pays the most, at one time often splitting to become defense squadrons for different tribes and fighting each other, but ever since their ā€œgreat tusked oneā€ arrived they have lived by three rules: #1, always listen to the tusked ones descendents, the royal family, #2 never splinter off into their own factions, #3 most importantly of all, no killing other Sizzlewings outside of succession battles,
This ā€œGreat tusked oneā€ came at a time when the tribe was splintered into three factions, called Toxin, Poison, and fang, The ā€œtusked oneā€ as he is known by in the royal family was an old male Sizzlewing, he was huge and had massive tusks, instead of fangs, his descendents, also have these tusks, but they still have fangs, the tusked one has long since died, nobody knows for certain where he came from, or even how old he was, but that he was strong, yet kind, he was the one who forced the three factions to sit together and decide on the three rules, and he helped them merge together. However, Queen toxin has had a queen coral situation, where there were no princessā€™ until slither, where the only times eggs would survive, would be when the assassin was caught with a band over their face, until toxin herself slept by her egg, nearly starving herself, and now she allows her daughter to play, but under supervision.
They are often named along the lines of toxin, venom, stinger, etc. baby Sizzlewings are called ā€œacidlingsā€ until they turn 15
Queen: Queen toxin
Princess: Slither
Prince(s): Stinger, Viper, Venom, and about 12 or so more
Characters of note: Princess Slither (a small sizzlewing with a cold demeanor and will not hesitate to leave you behind if you canā€™t keep up, she uses her nonthreatening appearance to her advantage, luring her targets into a false sense of confidence, only to suddenly be writhing on the ground, begging for death,)
protagonists* for this hypothetical arc 4:
Bone (one of my OCā€™s, a sandwing Pronouns: He/Him)
Bloodcrest (an OC of a friend of mine, a nightwing, pronouns:She/Her, was hatched under two full moons, with the crescent third moon being a blood moon)
Princess Wildfire
Princess Echo
Stratus
Beetleā€™s leg, his friends call him Beetle, or they would if he had any, as he says so himself. (a large protowing with piercing eyes that can unsettle even the bravest warriors, he has gray scales with black speckles dotting his face, he also has golden wings that he has been told by the other protagonists [friends?] make him look very beautiful, and a total goofball, has a scar on his eye from fighting the protowing that killed his mother)
Other protagonists:
Prince Ravine (has a crush on wildfire)
Princess Slither
Antagonists for this hypothetical arc 4:
Queen Stalagmite
Princess Stalactite
Bugā€™s jaw (beetleā€™s legā€™s father and leader of his community, a gray protowing with red spots around his eyes and green stripes down his back)
Hybrids: The dragons native to Polreca cannot hybridize with each other, however the Cavewings and Flamewings can. The Polreca tribes can hybridize with other dragons from the other continents, although most of them are flamewing hybrids.
Flamewing-cavewing: I call them magmawings, they look like cavewings with a sort of heatblast from ben 10 look (god that reboot looks awful.)
Sizzlewing-rainwing: long protruding fangs and serrated teeth, sizzlewing like body with color changing abilities.
Flamewing-skywing: very similar to a skywing with firescales, but they breathe steam due to their heritage.
Flamewing-mudwing: leads to a big wings big enough to swallow a human whole, also breathes boiling steam.
*characters that have a book told from their POV.
