Pale Clematis Flowers and Poor Growth — Advice?

Last Year
I'm hoping someone can help me figure out why my clematis isn't thriving. It might be the Haku Ookan variety. I'm in zone 6b, and the plant gets about 12 hours of direct sunlight all day. We've had quite a bit of rain over the past few weeks.
Last year, I pruned it, but it didn’t grow much. This year, it’s doing even worse. In March, I added a 2-3 inch mix of mushroom compost, peat, and vermiculite, along with 2.5 ounces of bone meal. Recently, I’ve been adding a tablespoon of muriate of potash once a week for the past two weeks. I water it once a week, sometimes twice, ensuring the soil is moist to the touch but not mushy.
Unfortunately, the plant looks stunted and isn't as full as it should be. The flowers are pale instead of their usual vibrant purple.
I've attached pictures from last year and its current state. I'm feeling pretty clueless and could really use some advice. Any insights or suggestions to help my clematis would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance!

2024.05.15 06:30 CtYankinKAsCourt Need input on backyard steps

Ok, so my wife has tasked me with creating a set of steps or something for our backyard to get up out hill easier. Now this hill is long, the run is about 106.5 feet with a rise of about 17.5 feet, this gives me a slope of about 16.43%. Now I just wanted to do some pavers, but I have read that they will wash out above a 5% slope. So, I came up with a set of steps based on my days doing trail work. Now, when I used to build steps like these they were made from wood, however, my wife doesn’t want them made from wood. reconfigured my idea to be made from stone. Attached are the pictures of what I came up with. It is pretty much a buried 18x36x2 paver that makes up each rise of 7 inches spaced about 3’ 9” apart. Between each set of risers, I am going to put some pavers. The layers I plan on using are as follows from top to bottom:
  1. 2 Inch thick pavers wide spaced
  2. 2 inches of 3/8 gravel
  3. 4 inches of ¾ gravel
  4. 12 inches of grade 1 gravel (2-4 inches)
The risers will be installed on the same layering as the pavers.
To help keep the cut in steps, I am also planning on putting in some sidewalls made from 18x48x2 inch pieces. These will be imbedded about 10” on the high end to about 2.25” on the low end or more depending on the part of the slope with the remainder above the ground. These will be placed on the outside of each riser step to prevent from collapsing in.
Now, before I start digging and trying to get quotes of the stone, I wanted some feedback.
Namely, this idea will use about 30 3’ long and 54 4’ long pieces. That’s a lot of stone. So I am wondering, is this a good idea, will these steps work, or is these an easier way to do this?

2024.05.15 06:30 TheSinningRobot Recomendations/Considerations for a shed to work out of

Hey all! I am looking for some advice, as well as recommendations as I am search of a decently sized shed to use as a small woodshop.
Current situation is I am working out of my in-laws garage. Due to the shared space and the size limitations, I've been discussing with my FIL about getting a small shed that I can move into to have my own space and spare the rest of the garage from the dust I create.
Essentially I'm looking for some anecdotes and advice on what size/kind of shed others have had success with in the past. Some specific product recommendations if possible, and overall any type of considerations I should keep in mind as I shop around and plan.
If it helps I am working with -Lunchbox style planer -Benchtop Jointer (Wahuda 8") -A contractor style table saw (though I might want to go with something a bit bigger in the future) -Free standing dust collector (grizzly) -12 inch Dewalt sliding miter saw -Router table
I'd like to be able to fit all of this, but everything is on a mobile cart. I'd like to not have to constantly be juggling things, but I'm willing to entertain the idea.
If any details I didn't include feel free to ask!
Thanks much in advanced

2024.05.15 06:05 bdog2017 Thinking of getting into freehand stones

I’ve been sharpening a multitude of knives on various guided and fixed angle systems for a while now. I’m frustrated by the various systems I own for a multitude of reasons and want to get into freehand so that I can sharpen a wide variety of knives and steels ranging from Swiss Army knives, to 12 inch kitchen knives, and steels exceeding 65 hrc. I have some experience on shapton splash and go stones and have gotten decent results with little practice.
I was wondering if the Shapton stones would be suitable for my needs and if they would be adequate for high speed tool steels. Are they a good value? Would I need to get coarser diamond plates to deal with harder steels? What type of diamond plates are best?
And for those wondering, I also own a strop, albeit a pretty uneven one.

2024.05.15 05:34 Mother4Wildlings Super Concerned…

…okay, so after going through acute appendicitis and an emergency appendectomy while I had COVID in January of 2022, less than six months after giving birth to our youngest, I’m now nursing my husband in bed after he just got done vomiting pretty much everything he’s eaten today. He’s been suffering from increasingly worse abdominal pains for the last seven hours or so.
I’ve seen the man doubled over with gas pains (which is what he was originally thinking this was,) so I know his pain tolerance isn’t super high, but the locale of the pain he is suffering right now, plus the vomiting nearly 7 hours in, coupled with the fact that he does feel warm to the touch in the lower right quadrant of his abdomen and forehead (even though he is not complaining of pain on the right side yet, just a generalized central pain deep in his abdomen about 3 to 4 inches above his belly button,) is all, in truth, freaking me the fuck out. In five years I’ve never seen him like this.
Problem is, the ED nearest us would be lucky to have him triaged and tests ordered within a 6 to 8 hour window, I’m scheduled to work second shift tomorrow, I’ve already had to take a ton of time off due to literally every other emergency that could happen (I’m dealing with an ovarian cyst large enough to warrant surgery, I had to take an entire day to fix the tag on our only vehicle, the grapefruit on my ovary comes with a host of debilitating side effects that have me in and out of the office right now, and I’m literally six months into this new phase of my career. At the end of the day, I don’t care if it’s not a good look if I have to request PTO to take him in, but we don’t have anybody close enough to us to watch the baby and I don’t really feel that an emergency department is an appropriate setting for her right now, co-pay is through the roof…you get the idea.
So I guess I’m asking this: at the time of this post, it’s been about 30 minutes since he’s vomited, it was just the one instance so far, he says he doesn’t feel the ‘stabbing’ pain anymore, just pressure, but he’s snuggled up to me and is quite warm now, like bordering on feverish, and when I push on his abdomen, the warmth/pressure/deep pain behind and above his belly button (only when I push right now,) is just really worrying me. Enough to ask internet strangers if I should take him in. Might he have the beginning stages of appendicitis?
I tried calling the back of his insurance card several hours ago - they used to have a 24 hour nurse helpline where they would give limited medical advice, but it was better than nothing, however, this time I got a customer service rep, so I figured I would ask where they would give limited medical advice, but it was better than nothing, however, this time I got a customer service rep, so I figured I would ask the fine citizens here on Reddit. Worth the trip? I’m down for a paid day off, not so down for subjecting my family to a nasty ED waiting room for 8-12 hours if it’s NOT appendicitis.
He wants to get some rest right now; it’s just after 11 PM my time and truthfully, I’m working a combination of first, second, and third shift(s) with a maximum of seven hour “breaks” in between and we’re all exhausted. Should I let him sleep a little and assess when he wakes, or should I not even take the chance?
EDIT: he just told me he’s still having little sharp stabbing pains here and there, though not nearly as frequently as before (I woke him up to move him to a more comfortable position, it’s been an hour now since he vomited.)

**Update** ℹ️ On Trx4M MeUs Ripper FULL Build All Parts Arrived but need 1.3 anti foams & best shock ideas
Hey guys, I bought the new Meus isokinetic axles for some reason I had been under the assumption those came with a underdrive overdrive (it’s not a 4ws Build) yet. So one of my questions… Do I need to purchase an additional set of axle gears for underdrive/Over-Drive something like 13/24T and I believe 12/22 Trying to get more front wheel speed, I also bought the new Furitek Micro Stellar transmission motor trans combo w/ steel gears I am unsure of the gearing… also, I don’t know if it will matter I ordered the all brass and gold 1.3” wheel Injora cling on tires I have not been able to find 1.3 inch anti-foams yet but I have not really looked closely…
So I thought I would share and get everyone’s opinions & find out if and what parts I should still order to get this beast RTR what is a good shock to use with these I don’t want it to ride super high and would love a good front wheel speed. THANKS YALL!

2024.05.15 04:40 The_Casual_Sag Creating an addition wallet in Ellipal Titan Cold wallet app for iPhone

Hello. I have owned the Ellipal Titan wallet 2.0 for a few years. I hold numerous coins on numerous chains including BTC. About two years ago I 'cloned' my Ellipal wallet by putting the seed phrase into 1 Inch to move coins around as i found that easier so i didn't have to scan each coin out with the QR. I have since delated my 1 Inch wallets.
Recently, this bull cycle, I have bought back into BTC and I wanted to create a new foldewallet inside the Ellipal App just to specifically firewall my BTC from my main Ellipal account, that i had previously cloned in 1 inch.
Today I created a new wallet, inside the Ellipal App, which appears as a second (orange) folder inside my phone app. When i was prompted to save the 12 word seed, i turned my phone to 'airplane mode' and turned off Bluetooth. I then wrote down my new seed phrase on paper.
My questions are:
1, Despite being in 'Airplane mode' and with Bluetooth off, is there some way that a bad actor could have seen or retrospectively access this new phrase/ seed I just made today and steal my BTC? (Is it enough to turn off Bluetooth and WiFI? while creating a new foldewallet/ seed?)
2, Could a hacker of my iPhone , one day, somehow get into my Ellipal app and find my Private Key?
3, Was it bad practice that I cloned my wallet with 1 inch? Importantly, is it okay that i have since deleted 1 inch wallet or do I need to protect myself and move Everything to a new wallet inside my Ellipal app?
( I guess what I'm asking here is if 1 inch is safe, or if it is safe in general having access to one seed from two wallets?)
I have a nice new stash of BTC , my other chains are pumping and I really want everything safely kept in my Ellipal wallet.
I really appreciate taking the time to read and/or respond. Thanks in advance!

2024.05.15 04:37 Opposite_Parfait_680 Charged $19 for footlong subway

Today I decided to visit my local Subway and get myself a footlong steak and bacon. Upon reaching the till I was informed the price was $19 which I asked the worker to break down for me. He did, and I paid it, however this price is ridiculous, as last week ai recalled the same subway put up a sign saying $6 for 6 inches, which means a footlong should be around $12. I can think of upper class restraunts in which a fancy meal costs less than this, has anyone experienced this price elsewhere?

2024.05.15 04:07 Cold_Ad5608 Streetfighter v4 gang, what are the best settings for traction/wheelie control for balanced(sporty but safe) riding on the street?

I have both set to 3 and 4 and I still feel so much power is halted by the ecu. The wheel doesn’t raise an inch and I feel it lag when I shift sometimes(traction control). Should I continue to lower one or the other? I grew up without these fancy settings so idk how much even a low setting of these interfere with the engines performance.
I figured lower settings would still allow some amount of play while keeping me safe, but it seems it’s still geared more towards the safe side and doesn’t let me play around.
I want to be able to have fun but have that emergency back up that won’t let me spin out and low side the bike or or shoot up the front end to 12 o’clock.

2024.05.15 03:45 tburdett10 Microwave Vent 10x3.25 ductwork elbow transition

I would like to vent my over the range microwave vertically with 10x 3.25 in ductwork. up the back of the cabinet. Due to constraints in the ceiling bay above the microwave I cannot put a 6 inch pipe through the bay to a wall vent. There will be 4.5 inches between the top of my 12 in deep cabinets and ceiling to work with that will be hidden by molding and allow for a flat 10x3.25 in ductwork out to the wall. I am thinking about a right reverse stack elbow (see link below) to save space to transition from the vertical duct to the horizontal duct. My question is whether all of the below are legit and to code for a microwave vent exhaust? The first one seems like it would actually flow the best. $417 for the last one seems outrageous.

2024.05.15 03:42 Low-Roll9276 The ultimate combo

The ultimate combo
I’ve always heard people call papillons miniature border collies, but here is the real deal.
A 6-year-old mixed-breed dog named Nimble has become the first mixed-breed dog to win the Westminster Kennel Club's Masters Agility Championship in New York. Nimble, a border collie-papillon mix, finished the race in 28.76 seconds, becoming the first dog from the 12-inch height division to win the top prize since the agility competition was introduced in 2014. The top 10 dogs from each height category go on to compete in the championships. Nimble's handler, Cynthia Hornor, hopes her win will put false ideas that mixed breeds can't be as fast as purebred dogs. Hornor believes agility is a great way for owners to bond with their dogs and that agility is the one thing she enjoys the most about this sport.

2024.05.15 03:24 funfacilitator_1 Been awhile, but I finally had an episode today and now I’m happy again.

So, I am going to assume that I am the ONLY one who loves being in dissociative state. Like many folks with DD, I enjoy the numb, almost immortal, invincible, vampire-like existence. It seems like a couple/few months since I’ve had an episode, but today was a good one! I was starting to become a little depressed because my symptoms were getting better. I started getting hungry again, I started getting tired again (not really), I’m feeling cold temperatures again.
Well, all is well in my world now. I was making a video reel on my cell, standing at, and facing, the open door of my bathroom. I feel cold water or something at my feet. I looked down and there’s about an inch of water coming from my bathroom into my bedroom, through my bedroom and into the kitchen. I had drawn a bath and was hearing it while I was on my cell, and I was aware I was running the water, but apparently the water rushing over and through the room was the elusive part. Omg! I am so excited to be back!!
I think I might know what the trigger was. I’ve always believed it was my ex (8 mo ago) of 12 years that led to this dissociative disorder, not my traumatic childhood so much, but whatever. I know it became observable to others when I was with him, at the end of our relationship. Well, we hooked up again three nights ago and here I go again.

2024.05.15 03:09 TownComprehensive809 CBS Ranked Mahomes 6 Seasons

CBS Ranked Mahomes 6 Seasons
  1. 2021-22 4,839YDS, 37TD, 13INT, 98.5RTG PLAYOFFS: 1,057YDS, 11TD, 3INT, 118.8RTG
“This was a weird season!! Mahomes played poorly to start the season off (3-4) before playing some of the best football of his career from week 10 through the infamous 13 seconds Divisional Round thriller against Buffalo that many consider the greatest QB game of all time. Mahomes was on all time historic playoff tear before it came crashing down in all time 2nd half melt down choke job against the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game. Season had highest of highs but also lowest of lows and the season ended in brutal fashion.”
  1. 2020-21 4,740YDS, 38TD, 6INT, 108.2RTG PLAYOFFS: 850YDS, 4TD, 2INT, 90.8RTG
“Mahomes put together another fantastic season finishing 3rd in final MVP voting behind Aaron Rodgers & Josh Allen as the Chiefs finished the season (14-2) and the clear favorites to repeat but in the biggest game of the season, Mahomes and Kansas City fell apart and got embarrassed on the world stage against the legendary Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Mahomes is compared to Brady in the GOAT debates now and going forward and so losing that badly in the Super Bowl to his all time rival stung as Mahomes went (0-2) against Brady in the postseason.”
  1. 2023-24 4,183YDS, 27TD, 14INT, 92.6RTG PLAYOFFS: 1,051YDS, 6TD, 1INT, 100.3RTG
“If this list was purely off just regular season, then 2023-24 was clearly the worst regular season of Mahomes career and it’s not even close as he dealt with 38 dropped passes on the season and overall brutal WR play with a 27% completion percentage on throws over 20 yards & just 6.8 yards per attempt. The Chiefs didn’t look like legit contenders all year but Mahomes and Kelce turned it up a notch in the playoffs aided by a great defense to return to the Super Bowl where when it mattered the most, Mahomes led an all time overtime game winning drive that was perhaps the Chiefs offense best drive the entire season to win back to back titles.”
  1. 2019-20 4,031YDS, 26TD, 5INT, 105.3RTG PLAYOFFS: 921YDS, 10TD, 2INT, 111.5RTG
“Was it a one off fluke or was his MVP year a sign of things to come? Mahomes answered that real quick in 2019-20 but it wasn’t all smooth sailing as Mahomes suffered a knee injury that sidelined him 3 games before returning and from week 10 onward, the Chiefs never lost as Mahomes put up an all time playoff performance throwing 12 touchdowns while leading the Chiefs back from 10+ points all 3 playoff games and winning by double digits, the first & only QB & team in history to do so.”
  1. 2018-19 5,097YDS, 50TD, 12INT, 113.8RTG PLAYOFFS: 573YDS, 3TD, 0INT, 99.9RTG
“This one is based off a little nostalgia!! Mahomes took over for Alex Smith and it was the best decision Andy Reid ever made as Mahomes from his very first snap dominated and introduced himself to the world throwing for 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns!!! Only 3 QB’s all time have thrown 5,000+ yards & 50+ touchdowns in a season and Mahomes did that in his first season as a starter leading the Chiefs to their first ever AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead where he lost in overtime to the legendary Tom Brady but gave the NFL a glimpse of who Brady’s successor as the ruler of the NFL was going to be.”
  1. 2022-23 5,250YDS, 41TD, 12INT, 105.2RTG PLAYOFFS: 703YDS, 7TD, 0INT, 114.7RTG
“Tyreek Hill was traded in the offseason and alarm bells started ringing for the demise of Mahomes & the Chiefs. Many thought Mahomes would not be as good without the speed demon but it was the total opposite as Mahomes with Kelce, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling & Jerick McKinnon won his 2nd league MVP throwing over 5,000 yards and 41 touchdowns while breaking the single season combined passing & rushing yards record before winning his 2nd Super Bowl to become the first QB since 1999 to win both regular season and Super Bowl MVP in the same season.”

I already have a base tune I made for 8 psi on 93 that I'll fine tune should have the car coming together the next few weeks hopefully. The end goal is mid 300s on 8 psi and then 400whp on 12+ psi on e85. Goal is to do all of this on stock long block too.

2024.05.15 02:23 mohemp51 Can SoCal desert plants do well in Tracy, California?

Tracy is in the valley and very hot and dry, an average of 12 inches of rain only. The days can be 90 degrees or more, starting from May all the way till October.
Will southern california desert plants like mesquite grow well? considering it does get more rain than the desert? Will the soil type in the valley be suitable for mesquite?
The valley's riparian system was destroyed long ago, so it seems very hard to establish any plants like valley oak, when its out in the open, hot and dry, so desert plants seemed like they will thrive to me

2024.05.15 02:22 Downshift187 Planning on building a small deck. My dad and I disagree on how it should be done.

Planning on building a small deck. My dad and I disagree on how it should be done.
Planning on building a deck for this sliding door. The total doowindow opening is 9ft wide and the floor is 18" above ground level.
I want to build a small deck, about 10-12 wide and 8ft deep with a step down to the yard. I just want enough room to have a couple of chairs, and the main reason for the deck is just to facilitate going out of this door without an 18" step down.
My plan was to build a floating deck on 6 deck blocks with a few inches of tamped gravel under, and leave it about 3/4 to an inch away from the house to allow for movement. I live near Chicago, so cold winters here.
My dad thinks we should bury posts deeper than the frost line and install a ledger to the house, fully attaching it.
His point is that a floating deck will move and settle (which I don't doubt) but to me if I have to jack a corner up and put some extra gravel under it now and then it doesn't seem like a big deal for such a small deck.
Also, in my area a floating deck under 250 sq ft doesn't require a permit, but anything attached to the house does which complicates things.
We'll also be spanning over a basement window well, and I feel that with a floating deck it makes it easier if I ever need to access that from the outside.
My dad is quite knowledgeable, but he tends to over build things.
That being said, neither of us are pro deck builders so I figured I'd post this here and get some opinions on the matter.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give!
