2024.05.16 03:15 papaozu9 Unable to renew DL in CA with Asylum granted!

Too much stupidity going on even after asylum granted! My parent have to renew his DL every two years in the past 9 years because the valid date of EAD is two years and we have to renew while waiting for asylum interview, which is understandable. We were granted asylum two years ago(automatically obtain a new EAD for another two years) and applied for green card last year.
No one knows how long is the i-485 gonna take! Our DL is going to expire next month and I visited DMV 5 times in the past month(including today) with my parent and showed all the evidence(i-485 receipt, i-94, approval letter, ssn, and etc..) and even brought evidence from DHS that the law allow us to renew DL legally. The lady and her manager refused to renew and direct us to USCIS to approve our green card.
This is so stupid because even illegal immigrant are able to get a DL in CA last time I check, and we are not able to drive legally because of USCIS's processing time is taking FOREVER?
Does anyone have experience with this kind of situation? I know some states might be more flexible on this, I was able to get a 5-year DL in WA easily.

2024.05.16 03:07 skibbity_bop_mm_dada My Boyfriend (20M) and I (23F) Have Been Thinking of Ending Our Long-Distance Relationship, Should I Keep Trying to Make Things Work?

My boyfriend (20M) and I (23F) have been dating long distance for nearly 2 years now, our anniversary is coming up soon and things have been very difficult recently between us.
I think it started about 2 months ago when he had been trying to convince me to move in with him and his family. I considered it for a while but I ultimately ended up choosing to stay with my family because I'm in college and need the stability that staying with my family offers, and staying with his family has significant challenges of its own. Then he tried to get me to come visit him, but I told him since he didn't have a car yet and we wouldn't be able to do anything on our own without his dad driving us that we should just wait a month or two and visit then. At that point, he said that he would not be moving in with me and my family (which was the original plan since the very beginning before he tried to get me to move in with him) because he didn't want to be around my family. I've told him about fights my family and I have had and he can't forgive them or at least move past it enough to move in anymore even though things are better with my family now than they ever were before. Since then, things haven't been the same.
We'll get into arguments all the time which will result in him threatening the relationship and me trying to piece things back together because it seems like all of this has come out of nowhere during the past two months. He will also be consistently rude to me and act like I'm an annoyance. I have always given him all the love and attention he could ever want, and previous issues he had with me in the beginning are no more now. I've given up on getting any love from him for the moment. But when he's rude to me, I do have to say something about it which is where the arguments are coming from. For example, I jokingly asked him if he liked being in a relationship with me as a way to tell him I wanted him to not do something (i.e. he asked if he should do something and I responded with "well, do you wanna be in a relationship with me?" I would give a specific example but I was so not serious about it, that I don't even remember what it was that he was asking about) and instead of asking for a clarification about my intentions with the statement he just said no. I waited for him to clarify, but he didn't. I ended the call and after a min or two asked him to clarify what he meant and to apologize. Apparently he said he was saying no to me "threatening the relationship", which I then clarified that I wasn't being serious and was just being sassy as a joke. But then he started talking about breaking up again which lead to me crying, trying to piece everything back together again. Things had been fine earlier that day.
Then when I start to accept it finally, he acts like he may have an "idea" that will save the relationship. Most recently he said he needs to lower me on his list of priorities. Which I don't understand because to me, it feels like he has already lowered me on his list of priorities. Apparently he values his recent part time retail job over me and for some reason he can't have both me and the job. He also will complain that he's tired and doesn't want to go to work but he'll accept when he's called in short notice to the point where he'll work all day. And then he'll claim that its me who's holding him back from doing other things he likes like doing yardwork or whatever else he wants to do. I want to be appreciated for my efforts and commitment and I've NEVER held him back from any of those things. I had been encouraging him to get his first job for over a YEAR before he got it. He also doesn't respect that I want him to have a car before I visit and still won't get the car that's been available to him for a while now through his grandpa. All he has to do is put himself on the insurance but he won't do it. He even let his learners permit expire so now he can't take a flight or even drive a car and there's even more steps for him to do at this point to get a car, better himself, and grow up. For the record, I am also not a nag. I haven't asked him to do ANYTHING other than just respect me as a human for 2 months.
When I ask him why he wants to break up its always a new reason and when I ask him to elaborate on the reason he says "I don't know". He doesn't know why he thinks we're not compatible anymore. He doesn't know why he wants to be single. He doesn't know what he learned from this relationship even though he claims that "maybe this was just a stepping stone for us to learn". He doesn't know anything but he still acts like he wants to go through with it.
I'm so tired of all of this, but it feels like such a waste to break up because this bad stuff hasn't been happening for very long. I feel like if he was more in touch with his emotions about moving in and visiting, he wouldn't be in this place mentally. Plus when we visit we're sooo happy together. We HAD been so happy together for the vast majority of the relationship up until around this time. But there's nothing I can do for him anymore to make him realize our relationship is worth saving. I've been holding onto the future of this relationship for SO long and have put a LOT into it, both emotionally and financially (long distance is expensive). I just don't want it to end because he can't deal with his emotions and can't treat me with respect just out of the blue. It doesn't make any sense to me and I'm having a really hard time accepting it. I worry he may end up regretting it down the line. I think that I'm a very good partner and have a lot of good qualities. I've improved myself a lot in this relationship too. I don't know why he'd want to be single instead. Literally everyone I've talked to has told me to break up with him. It's just so hard to divest my energy this quickly. I don't feel prepared. I don't think he's going to realize what he had until its gone for good. It's just so hard for me to give up on this. Please let me know what I should do about this terrible situation.
TLDR; My long-distance relationship of nearly 2 years hit a rough patch. Initially, our plan was for him to move in with me, then my boyfriend wanted me to move in, which I considered but backed out on for school and family reasons. Arguments and rudeness escalated. He's indecisive about breakup reasons. Despite advice from others, I'm struggling to accept a potential breakup. I've invested a lot emotionally and feel unprepared to end it.

2024.05.16 02:59 rando1219 Does starting a vial shorten shelf life?

I got Hallandale from emerge but my 7.5 3 month supply just shipped today I like the pens better so I want to go to name brand, but not sure if I should finish the vile first (1 more dose in the vial). The vial had a 1 year expiration date, but not sure if once you stick a needle in it, it has to be used quicker

2024.05.16 02:06 daLoneboy1 Miles expiration question

Hello, long story short I'll have miles on my account after an upcoming trip this summer. I know they expire after 2 years, but I read on NerdWallet that this doesn't apply if you are under 21, which I am. So I'm wondering when the date of expiry will be - would it be when I turn 21, or 2 years after that?
Thanks in advance for your help.

2024.05.16 01:56 CF_I_Think CFI ASEL MIL COMP

Hey all,
I had my ASEL Private before the military.
Now I'm a military instructor pilot that used the FAA military competency rules to acquire my FAA commercial and instrument ratings after UPT. I flew T-6 and T-1 so I have Commercial Single and Multi
I got my CFI, CFII and MEI after my Instructor Upgrade in 2015. I let it expire, but recently used my last check-ride Form 8 to re-instate it.
I didn't check the ASE box on my application, but The FSDO gave me "Airplane Single and Multiengine; Instrument Airplane"
Is this correct?
I've been racking my brain with Category, Class, and Type definitions. I have one friend who told me based on 61.73 (g) Your certificate will match your Commercial Certificate category and class, for example
https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-14/chapter-I/subchapter-D/part-61
The CFR § 61.73 section (g) (see below) says "appropriate rating", but the IACRA application has just one box for aircraft that one has "logged pilot time or provided flight instruction (IP)."

§ 61.73 Military pilots or former military pilots: Special rules.

(a) General. Except for a person who has been removed from flying status for lack of proficiency or because of a disciplinary action involving aircraft operations, a U.S. military pilot or former military pilot who meets the requirements of this section may apply, on the basis of his or her military pilot qualifications, for:
(1) A commercial pilot certificate with the appropriate aircraft category and class rating.
(2) An instrument rating with the appropriate aircraft rating.
(3) A type rating.
(b) Military pilots and former military pilots in the U.S. Armed Forces. A person who qualifies as a military pilot or former military pilot in the U.S. Armed Forces may apply for a pilot certificate and ratings under paragraph (a)) of this section if that person—
(1) Presents evidentiary documents described under paragraphs (h)(1)(1)), (2)(2)), and (3)(3)) of this section that show the person's status in the U.S. Armed Forces.
(2) Has passed the military competency aeronautical knowledge test on the appropriate parts of this chapter for commercial pilot privileges and limitations, air traffic and general operating rules, and accident reporting rules.
(3) Presents official U.S. military records that show compliance with one of the following requirements—
(i) Before the date of the application, passing an official U.S. military pilot and instrument proficiency check in a military aircraft of the kind of aircraft category, class, and type, if class or type of aircraft is applicable, for the ratings sought; or
(ii) Before the date of application, logging 10 hours of pilot time as a military pilot in a U.S. military aircraft in the kind of aircraft category, class, and type, if a class rating or type rating is applicable, for the aircraft rating sought.
(c) A military pilot in the Armed Forces of a foreign contracting State to the Convention on International Civil Aviation. A person who is a military pilot in the Armed Forces of a foreign contracting State to the Convention on International Civil Aviation and is assigned to pilot duties in the U.S. Armed Forces, for purposes other than receiving flight training, may apply for a commercial pilot certificate and ratings under paragraph (a)) of this section, provided that person—
(1) Presents evidentiary documents described under paragraph (h)(4)(4)) of this section that show the person is a military pilot in the Armed Forces of a foreign contracting State to the Convention on International Civil Aviation, and is assigned to pilot duties in the U.S. Armed Forces, for purposes other than receiving flight training.
(2) Has passed the military competency aeronautical knowledge test on the appropriate parts of this chapter for commercial pilot privileges and limitations, air traffic and general operating rules, and accident reporting rules.
(3) Presents official U.S. military records that show compliance with one of the following requirements:
(i) Before the date of the application, passed an official U.S. military pilot and instrument proficiency check in a military aircraft of the kind of aircraft category, class, or type, if class or type of aircraft is applicable, for the ratings; or
(ii) Before the date of the application, logged 10 hours of pilot time as a military pilot in a U.S. military aircraft of the kind of category, class, and type of aircraft, if a class rating or type rating is applicable, for the aircraft rating.
(d) Instrument rating. A person who is qualified as a U.S. military pilot or former military pilot may apply for an instrument rating to be added to a pilot certificate if that person—
(1) Has passed an instrument proficiency check in the U.S. Armed Forces in the aircraft category for the instrument rating sought; and
(2) Has an official U.S. Armed Forces record that shows the person is instrument pilot qualified by the U.S. Armed Forces to conduct instrument flying on Federal airways in that aircraft category and class for the instrument rating sought.
(e) Aircraft type rating. An aircraft type rating may only be issued for a type of aircraft that has a comparable civilian type designation by the Administrator.
(f) Aircraft type rating placed on an airline transport pilot certificate. A person who is a military pilot or former military pilot of the U.S. Armed Forces and requests an aircraft type rating to be placed on an existing U.S. airline transport pilot certificate may be issued the rating at the airline transport pilot certification level, provided that person:
(1) Holds a category and class rating for that type of aircraft at the airline transport pilot certification level; and
(2) Has passed an official U.S. military pilot check and instrument proficiency check in that type of aircraft.
(g) Flight instructor certificate and ratings. A person who can show official U.S. military documentation of being a U.S. military instructor pilot or U.S. military pilot examiner, or a former instructor pilot or pilot examiner may apply for and be issued a flight instructor certificate with the appropriate ratings if that person:
(1) Holds a commercial or airline transport pilot certificate with the appropriate aircraft category and class rating, if a class rating is appropriate, for the flight instructor rating sought;
(2) Holds an instrument rating, or has instrument privileges, on the pilot certificate that is appropriate to the flight instructor rating sought; and
(3) Presents the following documents:
(i) A knowledge test report that shows the person passed a knowledge test on the aeronautical knowledge areas listed under § 61.185(a)) appropriate to the flight instructor rating sought and the knowledge test was passed within the preceding 24 calendar months prior to the month of application. If the U.S. military instructor pilot or pilot examiner already holds a flight instructor certificate, holding of a flight instructor certificate suffices for the knowledge test report.
(ii) An official U.S. Armed Forces record or order that shows the person is or was qualified as a U.S. Armed Forces military instructor pilot or pilot examiner for the flight instructor rating sought.
(iii) An official U.S. Armed Forces record or order that shows the person completed a U.S. Armed Forces' instructor pilot or pilot examiner training course and received an aircraft rating qualification as a military instructor pilot or pilot examiner that is appropriate to the flight instructor rating sought.
(iv) An official U.S. Armed Forces record or order that shows the person passed a U.S. Armed Forces instructor pilot or pilot examiner proficiency check in an aircraft as a military instructor pilot or pilot examiner that is appropriate to the flight instructor rating sought.
(h) Documents for qualifying for a pilot certificate and rating. The following documents are required for a person to apply for a pilot certificate and rating:
(1) An official U.S. Armed Forces record that shows the person is or was a military pilot.
(2) An official U.S. Armed Forces record that shows the person graduated from a U.S. Armed Forces undergraduate pilot training school and received a rating qualification as a military pilot.
(3) An official U.S. Armed Forces record that shows the pilot passed a pilot proficiency check and instrument proficiency check in an aircraft as a military pilot.
(4) If a person is a military pilot in the Armed Forces from a foreign contracting State to the Convention on International Civil Aviation and is applying for a pilot certificate and rating, that person must present the following:
(i) An official U.S. Armed Forces record that shows the person is a military pilot in the U.S. Armed Forces;
(ii) An official U.S. Armed Forces record that shows the person is assigned as a military pilot in the U.S. Armed Forces for purposes other than receiving flight training;
(iii) An official record that shows the person graduated from a military undergraduate pilot training school from the Armed Forces from a foreign contracting State to the Convention on International Civil Aviation or from the U.S. Armed Forces, and received a qualification as a military pilot; and
(iv) An official U.S. Armed Forces record that shows that the person passed a pilot proficiency check and instrument proficiency check in an aircraft as a military pilot in the U.S. Armed Forces.

I'm on day 5 of my placebos, the day I always start a new pack. 4 of the Apri packs expire October 2024, so should I just start Apri tonight? I would've rather waited so I can start Apri on day 1 of placebo week on Enskyce, but given the expiration date, I rather not risk it.
Also, what are yout thoughts on Apri? I'm excited to try it because I think Enskyce started making my depression worse recently.

2024.05.16 01:46 JGX12345 Urgent: Can I Re-enter Canada with Expired TRV but Valid Study Permit?

I'm facing a dilemma regarding my travel plans to India due to family emergencies. I currently hold a valid study permit in Canada expiring in November 2024. However, my Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) has expired, and although I've applied for its renewal, I'm uncertain whether I'll receive a response before my departure date.
Given the urgency of my situation, I'm wondering if it's permissible to re-enter Canada with an expired TRV, considering I have a valid study permit. I've researched but haven't found information on this scenario.
Has anyone been in a similar situation or have knowledge of the rules regarding re-entry to Canada with an expired TRV but a valid study permit? Any insights, advice, or personal experiences would be immensely helpful in guiding my decision-making process during this stressful time.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

2024.05.16 01:28 7thstrangemonk Drivers License Renewal on cap gap in Texas

Does anyone have any experience renewing their DL in Texas while on cap gap?
I had my H1B approved last week, and also received my cap gap I20 from the university (still waiting for my I797). My drivers license expires on the same day as my OPT (June 11), so I went in to renew it today but was refused a renewal citing that the lawful presence date in their system is still reflecting my OPT end date, and they asked me to come on the day my license expires with the I797 notice so chances of the date updating are higher.
Curious to know if anyone has had a similar experience and were able to successfully renew in a similar situation?
Appreciate any advice/two cents. TIA.

2024.05.16 01:14 St_Veloth All Active or former Devils who use Comcast/Xfinity for internet - you have $180 gift card you can redeem with no strings attached

Let me preface by saying this isn't an ad, I fucking hate Comcast.
Today that thing happened where my bill jump 30 bucks for some reason only to find out it was a sign up deal that expired (I asked a million times if that would happen when I first signed up, they lied)
ANYWAY - after exploring my downgrade options as a stop gap until I switch to Verizon Fios, I noticed their rewards program which I never saw, and even more I saw this $180 gift card for all military members and veterans.
https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/military-service-offers
I looked around and saw a post in the airforce subreddit telling people about it so I figured I'd share here, and it looks like a quick easy redeem if you already confirmed your military status. I didn't, but confirming my status was as easy as putting in my birth year and discharge date and I was instantly approved - the biggest catch is waiting 3.5 MONTHS for a VIRTUAL card....but still, don't leave 180 bucks on the table!
TL;DR: FREE MONEY FOR ALL MILITARY AND VETERAN COMCAST USERS - IMMEDIATELY IF YOU'RE ALREADY CONFIRMED WITH THEM, 3.5 MONTHS OF WAITING IF YOU CONFIRM TODAY, ALSO FUCK COMCAST

$525 Ticket from mystery bounty into Tournament Dollars?
Hi! I just won a $525 ticket to the global millions mystery bounty, it says it expires on May 21st and I can redeem T$525. I would rather do this than play the tourney but can I just check that after that date I will get the T$ and not just lose the ticket? Also, can I turn it in to T$ now or do I have to wait for the expiry date? Thanks!!

2024.05.16 00:23 EveningStrange2693 Three Year Leaps

Three Year Leaps
There seems to be a lot of confusion on the DFV and 3 year leap theory.
You literally CAN NOT buy an expiration that’s three years out on AMC or GME.
RN if I wanted to buy the furthest dated expiry possible it would be the January 16, 2026 expiry. (See screenshots. I highlighted the last possible expiry)

2024.05.16 00:09 SeparateFactor8924 LEAPs theories floating around

This is for everyone grasping for air as they realize everything currently going on is somehow related to LEAPs. To preface, I have traded options on GameStop since day one, since January of 2021 I have held or written calls. There has not been a time I did not have options. Hell, I confess I have even purchased puts. And have made good money doing so. I understand options come in and out of popularity in this sub and truthfully it is due to a lack of knowledge, if we all understood options we probably could’ve buttoned this thing up a year or two ago. Wall st. Invented options to leverage and make more money than one could ever dream of simply by owning shares. Just think about that.
Back to the LEAPs… LEAPs are not special options, they are literally the farthest dated expiration on a normal options chain. Here are a few very basic points to completely shut this argument down
  1. Not a single time have we seen a significant or abnormal rise in open interest on any call LEAPs. Not once. I literally watch for this stuff every week. LEAPs have been my preferred long term call for obvious reasons pertaining to GME. I’ve never seen OI jump, the only exception is early early into this, a significant amount of far dated puts but that was proven to be FTD related and only done early on. Still doesn’t apply to this theory, because PUTS not calls.
  2. Who is one of the biggest shorts in GameStop? It starts with a C and ends with a L and Ken Griffin is the CEO/co-chief investment officer
  3. Good guess, the answer is Citadel. Citadel is also the designated market maker of the NYSE. This means that in order to “screw the market maker” they would be screwing themselves. This whole racket only works when the short sellers are coincidentally also the market makers.
Regardless of all this, this whole argument is not necessary because whether this blows up by Friday or not, it happens or it doesn’t. Doesn’t matter the reasoning. I’m sharing this to simmer the place down. This sub has seen a ridiculous uptick in posts and theories and I get the excitement but we now have thousand of people running with these paper thin theories that don’t make sense. I actually can’t believe this LEAPs thing got this far but no hate.
Moral of the story: Less noise is better especially when we are all under a magnifying glass to begin with. I don’t even remember how many (Robinhood screenshot) posts I saw when we ran in 24hr market the other night. The quieter we are as things go nuts, the better. For everyone’s sake, but most importantly for our sake.
I am only trying to educate here, not hate on anyone. I will also respond to any legitimate questions or educated counter arguments. I don’t know what’s going to happen and I don’t have insight that nobody else has or could easily research and get nor am I trying to sound like I do.
With much love ~
Edit: I am NOT encouraging anyone to trade options.

2024.05.16 00:00 borkieebonk Early License Renewal

(CA) So my license is set to expire dec 2024. I did pay for the renewal yesterday, and was prompted to take a renewal knowledge test online or in person, which i was confused on why. I tried to do it online but was having difficulty screensharing even though it was enabled, and I did call the DMV to ask why i had to take the test even though my record is clean and had not been past the 10 yrs required to take the test. She mentioned that I renewed it early and that was why I have to do it. I am going to the DMV tomorrow to try and do a refund for my application and renew within the timeframe of 60 days until the exp date to not take the test. But if that doesnt work, I will just have to go through with the consequences of renewing early, though i did not know. I am stressing about the knowledge test and was wondering those who did it recently, how was it? Has anyone tried to ask them to waive the test?

2024.05.15 23:57 omaldonado94 Update from USCIS for pending DACA cases:

Below is an email I received today from USCIS:
Dear DACA Recipient,
As USCIS has long recommended, we strongly encourage you to submit your DACA renewal request between 120 and 150 days (4 to 5 months) before the expiration date located on your current Form I-797 DACA approval notice. Filing during this window reduces the risk that your current period of DACA and employment authorization expires before you receive a decision on your renewal request. Please note that filing more than 150 days before your current DACA expiration date will not result in a faster decision.
We acknowledge that in recent months some DACA renewal requestors have experienced processing times longer than the 120-day processing time goal due to a technical issue, which we have resolved. We are committed to reviewing and processing all DACA renewal requests within 120 days. When we learned of the issue, we devoted additional resources to review and resolve, as appropriate, DACA renewals requests that were affected by the technical issue. We anticipate that within the next 30-45 days we will review and resolve the vast majority of affected requests that we have not already resolved.
DACA renewal requestors may submit an inquiry online about the status of your renewal requests if it has been pending more than 105 days. We also consider expedite requests on a case-by-case basis. Please visit the USCIS Expedite Requests website for more information and guidance on expedite requests.
Filing Process
You may submit a DACA renewal request online or on paper.
To file Form I-821D and Form I-765 online, you must first create a USCIS online account, which provides a convenient and secure method to submit forms, pay fees, and track the status of any pending USCIS immigration request throughout the adjudication process. There is no cost to set up an account, which offers a variety of features, including the ability to communicate with USCIS through a secure inbox and respond online to Requests for Evidence. For additional information on filing a DACA renewal request online, go to the Form I-821D webpage. All online DACA renewal requests must include Form I-821D, Form I-765, and Form I-765WS and accompanying fees.
If you are filing on paper, you can find the form on the Form I-821D webpage. If you file on paper, we recommend you complete a Form G-1145, E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance, to receive an e-notification when we accept your form. For additional information on the requirements for DACA renewal, please visit our DACA Frequently Asked Questions.
Fee Change
On Jan. 31, 2024, USCIS published a final rule to adjust certain immigration and naturalization benefit request fees. This final rule went into effect on April 1, 2024. The fee for Form I-821D did not change. The fee for Form I-765 increased to $520. Form I-765 applications filed online will receive a $50 discount.

2024.05.15 23:53 stompadillo Another CC Post…

I’m learning about covered calls….and I learn by doing.
I wrote a 5/17 10c on GME against 100 of my 401k shares ($11 cost basis) and collected about $1850 in premium. I don’t care too much if they get called away since I’ll still be significantly profitable.
Would it make sense to roll my contract and open a further dated contract with better premium? Then buy to close or let expire once IV and price are lower?

2024.05.15 23:39 juliuskingsley2 Aire and passport renewal?

So I’m an Italian citizen (dual citizenship) and have lived in Asia my whole life.
So I’ve recently moved to the Netherlands a year ago, and I’ve booked an appointment for my passport renewal from January and got a date for 17th of May, but I’ve just received a message that it got cancelled because I wasn’t registered with aire (stupid me, didn’t that it existed).
Here lies the problem, I planned a trip for the summer and now everything will probably have to be cancelled because god knows how long it’ll take for me to get registered with aire and then to get a new booking date for my passport (just expired, yay!). I’ve been feeling really stressed about the whole ordeal as I’m not sure how long this how thing will take.
Any opinions or insights will be extremely appreciated!
