Pokémon White Nuzlocke Day 4 Part 3 (Need Help w/ Team)

2023.07.04 05:48 SimpleSymonds1126 Pokémon White Nuzlocke Day 4 Part 3 (Need Help w/ Team)

I decided to head to Route 5 first and head straight into the grass. And what do I find? A Level 21 Female…Trubbish. Again, a Pokémon that i don’t really know that much about, other then people don’t like its design since its just trash. Either way I catch it, and decide to name her Hedorah, after the Kaiju Godzilla fought in one of the trippiest movies ever. Going back to look at her stats, I see Hedorah has the Impish nature, which is kind of good, since it makes her tankier but lowers the poison special attacks she can use. Then She happens to be ‘Alert to sounds’ which can help make it faster too. Much like my other Pokémon in my PC, I’m unsure if I should add Hedorah to the team, so I’ll need some help.
Next I decided to go ahead and head to Route 16 to try and catch something too. After battling some other trainers, I enter the grass and the first step I take nets me a Level 19 Female Minccino! Again, not the greatest but this could potentially work! I catch it and decide to name her Thea, after a class pet one of my science classes had, that also happened to be a Chinchilla! Looking at her stats, she has the Relaxed nature which literally does make in tankier. Then she is apparently ‘somewhat stubborn’ which helps her special defense too! So, another Pokémon that could potentially join the team!
After this, I decide to continue training. But then I remembered, there actually is one last place I can maybe catch a Pokémon: Lostlorn Forest! So, I head there and even have Toadally evolve into Palpitoad along the way. Once inside the forest, I run into a Level 20 Female Petilil! Alright! This was the Pokémon I was hoping to get back in Pinwheel Forest, so I’m glad I could catch it now! I catch it and name her Aki, after my absolute favorite Yugioh girl, Aki Izayoi. Checking her stats, I see she has the Docile nature, which does nothing but she does ‘Like to trash about’ so it does help with some physical attacks! Now I’m definitely thinking about having Aki replace Naturia, since I think Liligant would be better than Leavanny.
With all that, I decided to finally call it a day, and take a look at my PC, with your guys help hopefully, and be ready for the next N battle and for the fourth gym.
Day 4 Complete
Current Team: Ganon (Pignite) Level 27 Marron (Herdier) Level 25 Toadally (Palpitoad) Level 25 Naturia (Swadloon) Level 26 Trish (Scraggy) Level 25 Majora (Yamask) Level 20
PC: Stray Cat (Liepard) Level 20 Thyme (Pansage) Level 20 Hieroglyph (Sigilyph) Level 20 Gamera (Tirtouga) Level 25 Hedorah (Trubbish) Level 21 Thea (Minccino) Level 19 Aki (Petilil) Level 20
Badges: 3 Deaths: 1 Nibiru (Roggenrola) Level 23
A lot happened today, and I’ve acquired a lot of new Pokémon! I hope you all can help me make the most optimized team possible and that hopefully no other huge bad events occur anytime soon!

2023.02.07 04:04 HeroRRR The True Power of the Millennium Puzzle

For a long time I have seen many things cited about what the abilities of the Millennium Puzzle are since out of all the Millennium Items, its power set is the most vague. The most infamous example being that the Puzzle increases one's luck in games and the more desperate the game becomes, the more one's luck increases. Or as Yugipedia puts it, ".....heighten its owner's chance of success in a game, judging by their skill-level as well as the importance of the game at hand." This has all been used to meme and to suggest that Yugi/Atem cheats since they can used the Puzzle's power to will any card they want in a crisis. Which is supported by games like Duel Links with Destiny Draw or the dub's 'Heart of the Cards'. And we have all seen the lucky draws that save Yugi's life, so it makes sense that some magic was behind it, right?
Except, what if I tell you that none of this is true. This most talked about power of the Millennium Puzzle doesn't exist in within the manga or anime and I'm going to prove it here. This will be a long post and I will have a TLDR at the bottom for those who just want a summary.
Let's us go back to the origin of Yugioh, the manga written by Takahashi. For further reference, I will be using Viz's manga translation found on Viz.com, so if there any statements that are different in another version or in the Japanese translations, feel free to correct me. In the first chapter on page 10, we are told that the Millennium Puzzle will grant one wish to anyone who solves the Puzzle. Now we can debate how true that is since Yugi's wish was to make true friends and Yugi made that wish happened himself before he completed the Puzzle when he tried to protect Joey and Tristen from Trudge, but for the sake of this post let's say this is one of the Puzzle's power. Now on page 33 we are told the second power of the Puzzle from Yugi's grandpa:
Grandpa: It's written in the Book of the Dead that the one who solves the Puzzle inherits the Shadow Games. He becomes the guardian of right and passes judgement on the evil.
All this seems to refer to Atem and how Yugi became his chosen vessel. So the second power is basically you get possessed by an ancient king who can control the Shadow Games and inflict Penalty Games on those he judge as evil.
We don't see more of the Puzzle's power until Chapter 12 page 11 when Yugi asked the Puzzle to find Joey when he was kidnapped by his former gang. While this comes off as an one-shot plot-convenient power, it does reappear in Chapter 31 of Duelist when Joey was kidnapped and forced to duel Bonz. So let's call this the Puzzle has the power to track those that Yugi considers his friends. The final power of the Puzzle was the highlight of Shadi's introduction in chapter 13. Despite Shadi being one of the guardians of the Millennium Items, he doesn't know the Puzzle's power outside of the Nameless Pharaoh being sealed within it along with Zorc. Atem, not having his memories also doesn't know what the Puzzle's full power are as confirmed in chapter 17 page 4:
Atem: The power of Millennium Puzzle....even I don't know its full extent. But it's there somewhere inside of me...hidden in the true room of my soul.
This is reference to how Atem's true soul room contains the World of Memories along with his true name. Which is really just double down on how the Puzzle is the Pharaoh's soul jar. By the end of the arc with Shadi, Atem have a revelation about what the true power of the Puzzle is, which can be found in chapter 20 pages 14-15:
Atem: Shadi, I've realized something about the power of the Millennium Puzzle. No matter how far apart we are, friends always come together as one. We are small pieces that binds together to become an undefeated power. Just like a puzzle. The Power of Unity! That is the power of the Millennium Puzzle!
And there it is, the true power of the Millennium Puzzle. This is also not a one time thing with the Puzzle's power being unity repeated several times in the last story arc with it being the key to Atem killing Zorc once he got his memories back, which can be found in Millennium World, Chapter 55 pages 10, 14, and 15.
Atem: Now Zorc! This is the Power of Unity! With my friends, I can call forth the gods!....And in the name of the king I unite the gods into the Creator of Light, Horakhty!
So using all the information gathered in the manga, the Puzzle's power are: it grants one wish to anyone who completes it, they become the vessel of the Nameless Pharaoh and gain access to all his dark knowledge and magic, it allows the owner to find one's fiends if they're in danger, and they gain the Power of Unity that can unite the gods and make others stronger. In all of this information, there is nothing about the Puzzle having an influence on luck. The closest its comes to this is the user becoming Atem's vessel who is the Game King and within the manga there is nothing to suggest that Atem has the power to control or influence luck. And even if he did, that would be his own power and not something granted by the Puzzle.
Now I have seen some argue that the Puzzle has shown the ability to influence the luck of others by using Chapter 11 of Duelist when Joey pulled Time Wizard in his duel against Mai. The panel showed the Puzzle glowing just as Joey was pulling which appears to indicate that the Puzzle Destiny Drew Time Wizard for Joey. While an interesting theory and a strong case for the Puzzle having some influence on luck, it falls apart when you consider that in Joey's duel with Bonz he was able to draw the exact card he needed on his very last turn to win despite Atem not being at that duel unlike his anime counterpart. This is also not the last time Joey won by being extremely lucky when you consider how he beat Espa Roba. Namely, he drew Roulette Spider on his last turn and got one of the best results off of its effect by having Jinzo and Reflect Bounder kill each other. So this points to less of the Puzzle helping Joey and more on Joey being a natural lucky bastard.
Now with the manga out of the way, let's move onto the anime that most people are familiar with (for reference, the anime's text will be based on the sub on Crunchyroll). Now you maybe thinking that the anime must be where the Puzzle increases luck come from. First, the anime unlike the manga never really states what the Puzzle's power are outside of making Yugi the vessel of the Nameless Pharaoh and granting a wish to anyone who completes it. It is left vague, no doubt thanks to the anime skipping the early manga chapters where the Puzzle's power were flushed out. Second, going by the abilities shown in Duelist Kingdom of the anime: the Puzzle has the power to switch souls, as seen in E13 where Atem switched Yami Bakura and Bakura's souls so Yugi can kill Yami Bakura when he was trapped in Changed of Heart, and it's later shown protecting Atem when Panik tried to burn him to death in E15. However, the fire protection could be one of the general powers of the Millennium Items since they do protect their owners from magic in both the anime and manga. But let's say for this post this is Puzzle exclusive power.
So the anime's Millennium Puzzle grants the user one wish if they complete the Puzzle, makes them the vessel of the Nameless Pharaoh and access to his Shadow magic, can switch souls, and can protect one from both physical danger and magic. And just like the manga, there is nothing about increasing luck. Like the manga, the closest its comes is allowing the user to access Atem's vast gaming knowledge.
Which brings up to the point that many use to show that the Millennium Puzzle influence luck and give you access to Destiny Draw. Namely, in the final duel of the series Ishizu claimed that Atem has the power to influence fate, which was how Atem could control what card he was going to pull. From E223, starting at 15:32:
Atem: My turn! Since you create miracles, I'll create miracles too! I'll summon Big Shield Gardna! I draw!
Joey: Huh, what's going on?
Tristion: Atem said the monster's name before he drew it.
Bakura: As if he knew which card he'd draw.
Marik: No, he didn't know what card he would draw. The Pharaoh drew the card he envisioned.
Tea: The card he envisioned?
Joey: That's impossible! The deck card's order is set at the start.
Ishizu: No. I used to believe that a draw is determined by fate. But the Pharaoh is bending fate to his will.
By all accounts, this is the strongest evidence that the Millennium Puzzle may not be luck base, but instead manipulate fate itself by allowing Atem to top deck any card he envisioning. Basically, changing destiny. There is only one big problem with this....Atem isn't wearing the Millennium Puzzle in this duel. The Puzzle is in the Millennium Stone with the other Items, so Atem has no access to its power. So this power Atem showed isn't the magic of the Puzzle, but his own natural ability. It's basically baby version of Sartorius's ability from GX who had the ability to see into the future even before the Light of Destruction possessed him. So at best, Yugi being Atem's vessel gave him access to this power, but it isn't part of he Puzzle directly. And we can't say this reactively makes all of Yugi/Atem's lucky draws a byproduct of Atem's power since a) Joey is even more lucky in this regard for the same reasons as his manga counterpart b) in the anime version of the final duel Yugi was lucky to draw into Card of Sanctity otherwise he would have lost that turn c) we have Rafael who got perfect draws in both his duels against Atem to the point he countered almost all of Atem's plays. In short, we have seen other duelists in the anime draw the right card when needed and one who had Destiny Draw turned on throughout the duel. So it's impossible to say that it was Atem's power taking effect in those crucial moments. Especially when you considered that Atem bricked against Kaiba in their Duelist Kingdom duel and brick twice against Mai. But this aside, this shows this wasn't something from Millennium Puzzle. It was Atem.
Now to go into the dub briefly and not even the dub states the Puzzle has the power of luck or card manipulation. Everything stated in the sub is basically the same in the dub, so it wasn't the source of this misunderstanding.
So now the question, where exactly did the idea that the Millennium Puzzle manipulate lucks and becomes stronger as the game-state becomes more desperate come from and why is it treated as a fact that Yugioh Youtubers repeat it. If I have to guess, I feel almost certain this all happened because of a misunderstanding in the final duel of the anime. People saw Atem's Destiny Draw and concluded that it was part of the Puzzle, ignoring the context that Atem wasn't wearing the Puzzle. From there, it became one big game of telephone that mutated from 'Atem has Destiny Draw, the Puzzle gives Destiny Draw, this was stated in the anime that the Puzzle manipulates luck, and it was stated in the manga changes luck'. There have also been people who insist that guides confirmed that the Puzzle influence luck, yet no one cites what guide they're talking about not even by name. Even the Yugipedia that I quoted early doesn't cite where it was stated that, ".....heighten its owner's chance of success in a game, judging by their skill-level as well as the importance of the game at hand." We only got their source for, "The hieroglyphs inscribed on the puzzle say, The one who solves me shall gain the powers and knowledge of darkness..." coming from chapter 1.
In conclusion, there isn't any media; manga, sub, or dub, that states that the Puzzle has anything to do with luck or changing destiny to give you top decking powers. The closest we have is Atem's own power in the anime which most likely didn't activate until his final duel where he was able to call out the card he was going to draw. While before it could have been just luck no different than other duelist who drew the card they needed at the right time with Joey being the worst offender. This was also aided by a fanbase that largely don't read the original manga, haven't watched the actual Yugioh anime in years and rely on other sources like Youtubers or the Abridge series for their information, and the wiki and Yugipedia stating that the Puzzle's power increases luck without proper sourcing. To make another comparison to a Yugioh show, it's basically what happened to 5D who for years was the subject of many false rumors that were treated as fact and became part of the consciousness of that show. That and it's funny to meme about Atem/Yugi being cheaters.
TLDR: There is no point in the manga where it is stated that the Millennium Puzzle manipulates luck and the manga is where the Puzzle's powers are the most flushed out. The anime Millennium Puzzle's powers are more vague, but shares two of the same powers as its manga counterpart and it was also never claimed that the Puzzle manipulates luck. The best the anime has is Atem showing the power to top deck by 'envisioning' the card he needs in the final duel of the show, but that power is outside of the Puzzle since Atem was doing that when the Puzzle was in the Millennium Stone with the other items. The anime, like the manga, also has several examples of people top decking the exact card they need without magic. This is also not a dub error since the dub says basically the same thing as the sub. This misunderstanding of the Millennium Puzzle's power seemed to have happened because of a misinterpretation of the final duel of the anime and people thought Atem's Destiny Draw was related to the Puzzle and it snowballed from there. That along with it being funny to call the King of Games a cheater.
And done. That was a long post and I thank anyone who actually reads all of this. If there is a guide that does indeed confirms that any version of the Millennium Puzzle manipulates luck or top decks (I don't mean using guides from games like Duel Links, but sourcing from the manga and anime), I will take the L and admit that I got this wrong.

2021.04.11 18:04 Martian5752 Help Interpeting a picture through TES lore

This may be a bit unusual but there's this yugioh card titled 'book of moon' and I want to apply the picture to TES lore, maybe you could help me with something I missed. The most obvious and apparent interpretation is that instead of the two figures being Anubis they are werewolves and it makes sense for them to be connected to the moon and in turn Hircine (I know lycanthropy+moon isn't 100% confirmed in TES but combine the facts that there are multiple hints and the real mythology connection it's not a great leap). The eye in the moon could be the ritual sign or the mages guild, the winged eye is similar to the 'magician' rank in the mages guild in TES IV. There's also a bird in the hieroglyphs line I don't know if that could mean anything.
On an unrelated note does: 'Fire snake/snakelike sword' mean anything in TES?

2021.01.23 23:43 GeneralApathy Awful Cards That (Most) People Don't Know About/Remember

I was recently looking through the Yugioh database at old sets, reminiscing and thinking about how much this game has evolved since the early days. Even if you weren't playing back in the Stone Age days of Yugioh I'm sure you've seen some of the absolute garbage, but I want to talk about some of the cards you may not have know about. I'm going to be excluding non-effect montsters just because it's too easy and there's not really much you can say about why Flame Ghost is awful (inb4 Instant Fusion target).
If people enjoy this, I may end continue making these posts. Without further ado, let's poke fun at cardboard.

Hieroglyph Lithograph
Normal Spell
Pay 1000 Life Points. During the current Duel, your hand size limit becomes 7.
I appreciate this card because not only is it a bad -1, but it also has the gall to make you pay LP to activate it. I'm really not even sure what the intended use for this card is. Do you want to make a slightly bigger {{Muka Muka}}? Even in a stall strategy where you're just sitting with a ton of cards in your hand having one extra card in your hand that you can't do anything with isn't very helpful.
Not only is this card bad, but it's just plain weird. It literally changes one of the inherent rules of the game for the rest of the duel.

Dark Designator
Normal Spell
Declare 1 Monster Card name. If the declared card is in your opponent's Deck, add 1 of that card to your opponent's hand.
Basically a backwards version of {{Lullaby of Obedience}}. Why on earth would you be using this card? The best thing I could think to do is use this, then activate {Exchange} to steal whatever you just added to their hand, but that's just such a janky play (and I'm sure at least one person out there has pulled it off). I guess you could also Mind Crush what they just added out of their hand, but that's arguably even worse unless you're sure they can't get it back somehow.

Yado Karu
Monster
Level 4 Water Aqua 800 Atk/ 1700 Def
When this card is changed from Attack Position to Defense Position, you can place any number of cards from your hand at the bottom of your Deck in any order you desire.
This card took me a few reads before I realized just how awful it is. First of all you have to normal summon this thing, hope your opponent doesn't just run over its puny 800 attack body. Then when it rolls around to your turn you put this bad boy in defense mode and. . . put cards from your hand back into your deck. The obvious application is to return garnets to your deck, but why put yourself through this kind of pain to do that. Just use {Magical Mallet}. Sure you go -1, but at least it's reliable.

2020.10.29 01:31 EmeraldDM8 Designing the Manga Characters: Principal MacKenzie

So here we are, the final part of the "Tragoedia invades Duel Links" storyline. Principal MacKenzie is in an odd position, because he doesn't even really have a type of monster he uses, never mind an archetype; it's literally just described as an "Egyptian Mythology" deck. He has 3 cards that were printed irl, but I believe that I should hopefully be able to build a character around what I've got. If I was able to build David Rabb around a single card, this guy shouldn't be so hard.

Profile:
"The Headmaster of the American Duel Acadamy, he acts as the main host for Tragoedia. After being freed from its control by an alternate Jaden Yuki and Chazz Princeton, he returned back to America, although he eventually reappeared in Duel Links, seemingly back under Tragoedia's control. Using the Legendary Planet cards, he once again attempts to break the seal on Tragoedia."

Drops:
For those of you confused why I have put Hieratic cards in his drops; the entire Hieratic archetype is based upon Egyptian hieroglyphs, as well as the Ennead, who are a group of Egyptian Gods in mythology. Because Principal MacKenzie uses a deck based upon Egyptian Mythology, I felt it was fitting.
UR - Hieratic Dragon King of Atum
UR - Hieratic Seal of Convocation
SR - The Supremacy Sun
SR - Endless Decay
SR - Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit
SR - Hieratic Seal of Banishment
SR - Hieratic Seal of Reflection
SR - Dimension Sphinx
R - Spirit of the Pharaoh
R - Emperor Sem
R - Curse of Anubis
R - Pharaoh's Treasure
N - Contract with Exodia
N - The First Sarcophagus
N - The Second Sarcophagus
N - The Third Sarcophagus

Level Up Rewards:
Level 3 - The Supremacy Sun
Level 4 - "Treasures of the Dead" Skill
Level 7 - Dark Coffin
Level 10 - Statue of the Wicked
Level 11 - Horus' Servant
Level 13 - "Seal of Supremacy" Skill
Level 14 - Horus' Servant
Level 16 - Muko
Level 18 - Sebek's Blessing
Level 20 - "Ebon Sun" Skill
Level 21 - Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror
Level 23 - Light-Imprisoning Mirror
Level 25 - Metaphys Horus
Level 30 - Metaphys Horus
Level 33 - "Descendants of the Dead" Skill
Level 35 - Metaphys Horus
Level 38 - Pot of Acquisitiveness
Level 40 - Pot of Avarice
Level 45 - Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis

Skills:
Draw Sense: DARK
Draw Sense: Spell/Trap
Draw Sense: High-Level
Power of Dark
Heavy Starter
Right Back at You
Fiend Farewell
Light and Dark
Allured by Darkness
Shadow Game
Seal of Supremacy - "Can be activated by revealing 2 Level 5 or higher "Hieractic" monsters in your hand to your opponent. Special Summon 1 "Hieractic" monster from your hand. This Skill can only be used once per turn, and twice per Duel.
Treasures of the Dead - "Gain 500 Life Points for every Spell/Trap card in either players Graveyard. This skill can only be used once per Duel."
Descendants of the Dead - "When a Level 5 or higher monster you control is destroyed by battle with an opponents monster and sent to the Graveyard, you can Special Summon up to 2 Level 3 monsters from your deck. This skill can only be used twice per Duel."
Ebon Sun - "Can be used when your Life Points decrease by 2000. Until the end of this turn, you gain Life Points equal to the ATK of any destroyed monsters, also increase the ATK of any monsters summoned from the Graveyard this turn by 1000. This Skill can only be used once per Duel."

Voice Lines:
I will not write out every single voice line, otherwise I'll be here forever. Instead, I shall list who he would have voice lines for dueling against:
Jaden Yuki
Jaden/Yubel)
Zane Truesdale
Chazz Princeton
Aster Phoenix
Atticus Rhodes
Axel Brodie
Jim Crocodile Cook
Jesse Anderson
Adrian Gecko
Koyo Hibiki
Midori Hibiki
Reggie MacKenzie
David Rabb

Events:
The Impending Resurrection!
This would be Principal MacKenzie's roaming event, and take place after Koyo Hibiki's unlock event, although story-wise it would be taking place at the same time; the story of the event follows the GX crew chasing after Principal MacKenzie while Midori and Jaden stay behind to duel Koyo. When they catch up to him, Chazz quickly challenges him to a duel; at that moment, a group of possessed Standard Duelists would appear, akin to the Ghoul Duels in the Yubel event. The cutscenes of the event would be the duel between Chazz and Principal MacKenzie, while the rest of the cast is busy holding off the possessed Standard Duelists.
The duel clearly goes in Principal MacKenzies favor, as he quickly summons "The Supremacy Sun" and puts Chazz on the defensive. During the 3rd cutscene, Chazz is able to finally destroy "The Supremacy Sun" using Chthonian Blast, but Principal MacKenzie reveals that he can just revive it next turn using it's effect. Getting immensely frustrated by the situation, Chazz angrily draws his next turn... only to see that he's somehow drawn "Light and Darkness Dragon"?!
Although confused as to how this card got into his deck, Chazz remembers back to how Reggie and David had mentioned that it had the power to defeat Tragoedia. Seizing the opportunity, Chazz activates "Ojamandala", and Special Summons Ojama Yellow, Ojama Green and Ojama Black to the field. He then tribute summons both Ojama Green and Ojama Black in order to summon Light and Darkness Dragon, shocking and angering Principal MacKenzie. Chazz then attacks Principal MacKenzie directly, dealing 2800 damage, although this simply makes Principal MacKenzie laugh, as he reveals that he has the "Tragoedia" card in his hand...
This event would end here, although the player would be awarded with a new Skill for Chazz:
Power to Fight the Chaos! - "At the start of the Duel, add 1 "Light and Darkness Dragon" to the bottom of your deck. Can be used when your Life Point decrease by 1500. During your Draw Phase, instead of conduction your normal draw, add 1 "Light and Darkness Dragon" from your deck to your hand. This Skill can only be used once per Duel."

Raid Duel - Beyond the Struggle...
This would act as the unlock event for Principal MacKenzie, and would be a raid event against Tragoedia. Following on from the ending of the roaming event, Jaden, Koyo and Midori would arrive to witness the summoning of Tragoedia; Jaden would then step up and duel alongside Chazz against Principal MacKenzie. The story of the event would largely follow the duel against Tragoedia in Chapters 61-64 of the GX Manga, with the higher levels of the raid being similar to the "Indiora Doom Volt" raid where you started with "Dark Magician" and "Blue Eyes White Dragon" on the field, although this time you'd start with "Light and Darkness Dragon" and "Winged Kuriboh". The event would end with Jaden and Chazz summoning "Ma'at", then destroying Tragoedia with it. The player would then be awarded a single copy of Ma'at, in a similar manner to how we only got 1 copy of the God Cards and Sacred Beasts.
With Tragoedia defeated once again, Reggie, David and Principal MacKenzie are all freed from it's control. While Principal MacKenzie decides to leave Duel Links (he would still be playable, this is just to avoid having to explain why his playable version would still be the evil version), Reggie and David would elect to stick around, alongside Midori and Koyo. These four would then be able to appear in future events in a similar way to how the game already treats the GX crew.

And that's it, the end of the Tragoedia storyline for Duel Links. After discussing this series with someone, I've decided that I shall continue with it and go past GX. However, I'm not particularly accustomed to any series other than GX, so I'm going to have a spend a little time learning about these other characters and how to design them. As such, I'm going to stick in GX for a bit; specifically, I'm currently planning to cover Jasmine, Mindy and Fonda Fontaine.
Now I know what many people may be thinking, "But they're anime characters."; yes they are, but they're also in the manga. I know it's a bit of a stretch, but it'll give me a chance to learn about the other characters that I'm planning to cover, without stopping this series. Also I kind of want to, because I'm a bit nostalgic for Mindy and Jasmine due to the GX games, although looking back at them shows that Mindy had quite a degenerate deck; in most games, she used a "Dark Snake Syndrome" lock-down deck with cards like "Limit Level - Area B and "Gravity Bind", although I can design her for Duel Links without having to delve into these cards thanks to Tag Force Special, where she used Mermail cards.
Now some of you may be wondering why he has "Contract with Exodia" in his drops; I've heard many people being upset about not being able to get this card anymore, as it makes Exodia Necross unusable, so I added it here for that both that reason, and as a reference to "Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's World Championship 2009: Stardust Accelerator", where you could unlock Tragoedia as an opponent alongside Exodia by winning a duel with the effect of "Exodia the Forbidden One". The Tag Team in that game is also the reason for the Pots being in the Level Up rewards, due to Tragoedia focusing on Drawing to assist Exodia.
Anyway, that should be everything. I hope that you enjoyed and as always, Thanks for Reading.

Decipherment of a modern card inspired by Ancient Egypt
Hello! This is an interpretation of a yugioh card 'Book of Moon' as if it was real. I don’t play or watch yugioh but the card has a sentimental value to me for something that relates to my childhood. I’ve never studied Egyptology so take everything I write with a grain of salt. But I’ve really tried to research from credible sources.
tl:dr It has to do with the nativity of Horus depicted in the southern chapel of the Opet temple in Karnak.
Top to bottom:
This symbol does not exist but it’s clearly based on the winged sun that is called Behedeti which is a form of Horus. Honestly it’s not really important because it is depicted on a lot of things royal and religious that doesn’t necessarily has anything to do with the context.
The eye in the center is most commonly known as the left eye of Horus and it is identified with the moon, though I don’t think this type of eyebrow exists. Anubis is standing on either side. There are other jackal/dog beings in Egyptian mythology but it is likely to be a god because he is holding an ankh, and it is likely to be Anubis because this fits very well with my interpretation.
There are two clear instances I have found where Anubis is linked with the moon. One is in coffin text spell 155 1 . The other is in the context of the Hatshepsut Temple and the mammisi (temple for a child god) and maybe the Pyramid of Senusret III 2 , which depicts a scene in which Anubis is bending over the moon/Osiris the same way he is bending over the deceased, and this symbolizes the gift of rejuvenation to the child pharaoh in the Hatshepsut Temple or the child god in the mammisi 3 .
If you’re confused about the second context basically the moon is linked with death/birth because of its phases especially when the moon is linked with Osiris, whose gathering of his body parts by Isis is linked with the phases of the moon, I’m not completely sure if the identification of the moon with Osiris is necessary here but according to my source it should be identified with Osiris, I would be interested if anyone has any thoughts on it.
Ankh is the symbol of life.
The hieroglyphs left to right:
The first one is actually the most difficult thing in the whole card so if anybody knows what it is it would be very helpful. The only hieroglyph that seems to be similar is the hieroglyph for thebes ‘waset’ so that’s what I’m going with for now. Second and third are the sound Y. the fourth is the ankh. The fifth is Heliopolis and sixth is south/upper Egypt. I have found these last two hieroglyphs together ‘Southern Heliopolis’ is an epithet usually of Thebes or Karnak 4 . I have also found other instances where ‘southern Heliopolis’ was used as an epithet for other places but I know less about those: Dendera, Armant and Jebel Barkal. I will go with Thebes/karnak for now because of the first hieroglyph. Seventh is usually translated as enduring but I have also seen other possibilities. Eighth is Horus. Ninth is god.
The three at the bottom are the sounds sha, mun, neb. And I don’t know if this means anything other than a name. neb means lord.
Because of Horus it would make more sense for a mammisi context where he is a child god rather than CT 155 where he is not present. So I need to look for a mammisi to Horus in Thebes.
The three candidates I have found are the Opet temple, Harpre temple in the north of Karnak and Temple A in the precinct of Mut. Harpre temple may or not be a mammisi but the bigger issue is that although Harpre, meaning ‘Horus the Sun’ is a form of Horus he is still a specific form with a specific spelling that is not found in the card. Temple A had a lintel which was dedicated to various child gods including Horus but it was most likely a mammisi for Khonsu 5 . The Opet temple is not a mammisi but it has the same ideas as a mammisi. The temple was dedicated to the goddess Opet and her son Osiris. The southern chapel in the temple was dedicated to the nativity of Horus and it has various scenes that are found in other mammisi such as milk, diapers and lotus 6 . There is no depiction of Anubis with the moon but oh well that’s the best option I found.
So basically Anubis gifts rejuvenation by “embalming” the moon/Osiris to Horus the child in the Opet temple. Rejuvenation is a bit confusing but from what I understood it symbolizes the rising sun as child gods are related to the rising sun and to the kings because each new king is like the rebirth of Horus.
At first I didn’t think there is a connection between Anubis and the moon or Horus and Thebes and a link between all of them. I’m pretty happy that I have managed to decipher it. I have asked two Egyptologists for confirmation a while ago but other than that I researched everything on my own.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Atem-The Pharoh and Seto Kaiba character pendents are on from the Japanese giant SuperGroupies.

the charm is always in subtle details thats been one of the specialty of SG. Motifs engraved in pendents aren't too vocal but yet to give a sense of involvement to fans.

2019.10.18 12:33 _Yx_ Can we foreshadow what the future OP effects will be ?

For me, I am pretty sure that a lot more cards will have "for the current duel" effects.
Will already have Hieroglyph Lithograph that limits hand size to 7, but I think it's safe to predict that we'll get sooner that we think effects that will say "For the current duel, you can Normal Summon twice a turn" or "Your attacks cannot be negated", or even worse...
I am pretty sure we'll get some more "You get 2 (or even 3) Battle Phases this turn" or "Skip your opponent's turn".
What do you predict for the tier 0~1 of 2022?

2019.08.04 16:15 Azuman11 Structure Deck Upgrades

Hello, everyone!
I've seen a lot of theorycrafting as of late, and I figured why not keep the ball rolling? There have been many Structure Decks that have gotten revamps to suit the new age of Yugioh. But not all of them got the same attention. Specifically, I'm looking at "Invincible Fortress".
Yeah, I know. It sucks. Like...a lot. But it was the first time I saw a defensive strategy like that, and it did interest me as a kid. Hell, it interests me NOW, but it's just not good enough.
How would you upgrade your favorite of one of the old decks? Here's my take on an upgraded (hopefully viable) Structure Deck for a Defensive Rock Stun-ish strategy that wins with superior defensive power, field control, and deckout, while synergizing with the previous support released in "Invincible Fortress".
---
Perfected Ancient Guard, Exxod
---
Majordomo of the Ancient Guard
---
Ancient Guard Mystic
---
Ancient Guard Commander
---
Pet Sphinx of the Ancient Guard
---
Ancient Guard Hieroglypher
---
Hierosphinx of the Ancient Guard
---
Curse of the Graverobber's Greed
---
Curse of the Scribe's Ambition
---
Sacred Temple of the Ancient Guard
---
EDIT: Made some changes, to more accurately show what the deck is about. It's meant to synergize with the Bounce effect the old deck gave, and turn that inherent card advantage your opponent has from having a large hand, into a tool for control.

2018.05.02 15:00 FightingGameNovice New Player Looking for Feedback on Decks - UW Approach & GW Approach!

Hello everyone, firstly, thank you for taking the time to read this! I've just started magic (last week) and wanted to begin on a budget to ensure that it really is the game for me before investing a large amount! I have played various card games before, such as yu-gi-oh! at a high level, vanguard at a mid-high level and a few others at a very casual level. I've chosen magic now as yugioh really was my passion - but it just isn't scratching the itch it once did.
I've purchased the UW challenger deck and then bought various singles that I've managed to find for cheap from local shops etc (think i actually made a big profit by accident to be honest), and upgraded it by looking at some other builds around the internet.
I've not purchased the new planeswalker from dominaria, search for azcanta or torrential gearhulks (although I may if it goes well), i've tried to replace them, would you be able to let me know how I've done, and how I can improve without spending much more please (£10-20GBP)?
I also bought some green singles and made a rough G/W approach deck but haven't tested it that much yet!
Without further delay, please find presently my current two decks and a list of other singles I currently have:

2016.05.24 16:16 Andrew13112001 First time watching Yu Gi Oh: Episodes 96-101 Thoughts

Previous thoughts post: https://www.reddit.com/yugioh/comments/4jr3v8/first_time_watching_yu_gi_oh_episodes_9095/
Hey guys. I'm one of the rare cases who watched TV a lot as a kid AND liked anime, but never seen this one. Not even the original series. So here I am now, watching it. I've seen this done on multiple subs with positive reactions, so I'll try it out here. Also, I AM watching the subs, so don't worry.
I HAVE NOT SEEN THE ENTIRE SERIES YET. DO NOT POST SPOILERS
If I make a theory or I am wondering something, DON'T answer me.
Also, every review is written after I see said episode, but before I see the next. The reason I'm doing more per post is so I don't spam you guys with posts. So, for example, I wrote the Episode 2 review before I watched Episode 3.
Alright.
EPISODE 96:
I really like the partnership between Original Malik and Bakura. I am obviously rooting for Bakura here, but I have a feeling he'll lose and be locked in a hourglass countdown to death like Mai.
And while Yami Malik said only those knowing the hieroglyphics can summon and control Ra, I'm pretty sure Original Malik knows it too, so he can simply tell Bakura.
And with that Memory Room that Yugi and Yami are looking. I don't think that's where the Millenium Items and God Cards must be taken to, but instead it will reveal the real location(which is that cave Pegasus followed Shadi in, because we see it having a slot for the 7 items.
EPISODE 97:
Welp....Bakura's dead. Kind of. But man, finally we see the use of Bakura infiltrating the Millenium Puzzle 40-something episodes ago.
Does Ressurection of The Dead only revive a monster for 1 turn? That's what I think Yami Malik said, but I always thought it was there to stay unless/until it's defeated.
Anyway, how come Original Malik can still control Anzu? He doesn't have the Millenium Rod.
As for Ishizu and Rishid...It'll only be a matter of time until Yami Malik finds them. That ship can't be THAT big.
EPISODE 98:
Not sure what to think. I mean I liked the 3-part Virtual World deal back in Season 1, but I wasn't really expecting more of it. Currently not that excited.
And this Noah kid....Considering Mokuba said he looks like Young Kaiba, and the fact that they've been mentioning Kaiba and Mokuba's father, I'm gonna go ahead and predict their father isn't truly dead, and had another kid: Noah.
Also, the Big Five said that if they lose, they will escape the Virtual World trough possesing their bodies. How did they appear before them then, if they're still in the virtual world?
EPISODE 99:
That was really bullshit how Kuriboh chose itself to be Yugi's Deck Master. I think Noah is controling those kind of stuff.
What is the Deck Master Ability's limit? Can Big Five #1 active it at any point as long as he tributes 2 monsters?
And if what Otogi said is true(the fact that the walls of the virtual world are really the walls of the floating thing), then how come they have so much places to walk to. Wouldn't they bump into a wall they couldn't see?
EPISODE 100:
I'm confused. What kind of relative is Gozuburo Kaiba to Kaiba and Mokuba? They share the last name, yet...He had to adopt them. So are they related or not?
I enjoyed this episode more than 98 and 99. I think I might have figured out how Yugi can get rid of Big Five #1's sacrificial monsters.
He should take Kuriboh, use it to attack, which will activate the tribute-to-reverse-attack thing. But because of Kuriboh's weak Attack Points, Yugi's LP won't get down to 0. That way, Big Five #1(which I will have to refer to as such, because we weren't given a name), will lose all his monsters on the field. Then Yugi can just attack with Chimera and that should be enough(and if it isn't, attack with Elf Swordman as well, and then Big Five #1 will lose). Let's see if I called it.
EPISODE 101:
Nope. I did not call it. But the ending of this episode made no sense to me. I have a few questions.
Gaia now has "Gale" in his name. He didn't have that before. Is this like...a new version of it, like the Cyber Harpie Lady? What extra effect does this new Gaia have? Second, doesn't Gaia need a sacrifice? Yugi didn't sacrifice Kuriboh(speaking of which, what happends if you sacrifice your Deck Master? Do you lose?), so how ocme he summoned Gaia?
Btw, updates may not come as often as they used to, but they still will.

2015.03.11 23:24 TheawesomeCarlos [R/F] Help lowerind card count in my deck please?

First off i should point out that i in fat do not wish to add any more cards to this deck right now, but to simply lower the deck count to 40 or lower since i plan on adding pendulums to it.Also i am a bit of a casual player i duel everydaay in school with various friends but were nowhere near pros and we dont go to events. So im not interested in Tier1 or2 decks to be honest. I play for fun and so do they, we just make what we love better. thank you
The main purpose of this deck is to utilize normal dragons in the graveyard to do whats nessesary. Yes, it's flawed but there are workarounds. Its based on the blue eyes white dragon and adds more to balance. Also uses synchros, xyzs, and fusions and soon will use pendulums.
How the deck ussually goes is to send fodder monsters to the graveyard like blue eyes or rabidragon or wattail. Then either silvers cry them or use them for fusion or to summon the hierartic dragon for its effects. Or to use one of the tuners to bring Azure eyes out or the dark rebbellion. Or if i anm struggling to use dragons mirror to take out first of dragons or five headed dragon for a sure kill.
Now ive purchased 9 cards (3 of each) of pendulum monsters to add power to the deck. These mosters add abilities to my normal mosters to beef them up and to also add to their usefullness. these are, Another 3 Lancephorhynchus(you have no idea how many times i had to look at the card to search it) its effects are that all normal monsters deal piercing damage. This is important, I also use a melodious deck to try to test the two decks with each other to find balance and cover each others flaws. The melodious decks being piercing damage. The other pendulum monster is A normal LVL4 monster with a scale of 2 and the pendulum effect of
Once per turn, if a Normal Monster you control destroys an opponent's monster by battle, after damage calculation: You can add 1 Level 4 or higher Normal Monster from your Deck to your hand.
This is usefull to take out the scale 7 pendulum or other mionsters to xyzs summon.
The second pendulum Monster is a Scale 3 normal lvl 6 normal monster with the pendulum effect of
All Normal Monsters gain 200 ATK. You take no battle damage from battles involving Normal Monsters you control.
What im asking help on is on removing cards from this deck to include the pendulum monsters, while still keeping the main purpose of the deck. I don't plan on adding all 8 cards at all. Just enough for them to be drawn but not to clutter the deck either. I need help here i have no idea how to go thropugh this considering this deck used to be 52 cards long and i stripped it of a lot of cards already. Thank you in advance.

2012.01.21 22:36 aznkidjoey [DN] My take on the holy-marked/hieroglyph/whatever it's called archetype

screenshot here For now, this is just the basic shell of my deck, without the sides/complete extra. Still in alpha testing. So I'll be explaining why a card in the deck sucks instead of just replacing it.
Monsters: 24
Spells 12
Traps 4
Extra:
once again, it's still in alpha stages, once I refine it, I'll update it.
