2024.05.14 08:31 Ok-Aioli5353 Electric bike

Hello everyone. I live in Warsaw and I want to work as a Glovo courier. I want to buy an electric bike. I'm looking for a bike with an average range of 100-120 kilometers and 500-1000 watts. Do you have any brand recommendations or places where I can buy one?

2024.05.14 00:07 lostpieceofsanity Beginner Bike suggestions? Or advice.

Hi! I’ve been interested in bikes for a long time, and because of recent circumstances I’d like to start planning and learning more so by next year I can get one.
I’m somewhat of a beginner in riding a bike, but I have done quite a bit of moped-drives on all types of roads while traveling abroad in Asia. I weigh around 120-130 pounds, I’m 5’7”, and I’m looking for a bike I could use for general getting around. I live in a small city but i commute out to the country a lot for family.
I also am interested in small bike trips/camping!!
Any advice would be appreciated.

2024.05.13 23:04 cyclicalrower Cheap folding bike, which one?

I am looking to buy a cheap folding bike for occasions such as brining it for an outing trip by car, or as a back up for days when my main commuting bike to be repaired ( less than 10 miles single way). I have been looking at the following three models in the price range of £200~400.
Dawes Diamond at Costco, £360 (I like it has mudguard and pannier included, which are essential for me if using for commute) https://www.costco.co.uk/Sports-Spas-Leisure/Bikes-Scooters-Accessories/Dawes-Diamond-Folding-Bike-20-Wheel-11-Frame/p/454395
BTwin tilt 120 at Decathlon, £280 https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/tilt-120-folding-bike-grey/_/R-p-120068?mc=8500543&c=blue%20grey
Wizard Skyline M500D at Merlin Cycles, £200 https://www.merlincycles.com/wizard-skyline-m500d-20-folding-bike-270188.html
Of the three above, I like Dawes Diamond having both mudguards and pannier installed, which are essential if I use the bike for commuting. I also like Dawes has double walled rims. But Dawes use a Shimano 3-speed hub, which I am not sure if it is adequate because I never used a hub wheel bike before. Comparing to the other two, it is about £100 more expensive, I am not sure it is really worth of it. May I have your advice please?

2024.05.13 22:19 Sly-Captain Looking for First Motorcycles to research

I am looking into buying my first motorcycle, there are tons of articles online and posts discussing what a beginner should get, but I wanted to hopefully have a real conversation with someone currently with some suggestions that I can then research and look into. My main purpose for this bike is I'd like to commute with it. I live in AZ where it's nice all year long. My commute is roughly 120 highway miles a day with the speed limits being at 75mph and I'm looking for something I can practice on, while still maximizing my gas mileage.

2024.05.13 19:35 OptionTurbulent1370 Jeffsy? Izzo? Epic evo?

Hey everyone!
I would like buy my first fully mtb, but my situation is kinda difficult, because the local trails are 12-15 km away from my home and I have to go through the city and its paved road all the way. Atm I have a gravel bike and I mostly go for 40-65 km rides. I have already tried to find “gravel” routes there, but its really easy to catch a rocky and/or steeper terrain where I feel uncomfortable and underbiked. In high school I was into dirt jumping for 5-6 years so I wouldnt say I am afraid of smaller jumps or moderately diffiuclt terrain.
So I am looking for a bike that is not 100% perfomance oriented, but its effective enough to reach the trails as fast as possible.
The budget for the bike is around 2500 euro (3000 max.) but since I am so unsure what to choose I wouldnt necessary spend the full amount.
At first I was thinking about the jeffsy core 1 because now its only 2000 euro, but its 16 kg (I am 63kg) and from the geo I assume the paved km-s would be hell on it.
I saw couple guys earlier with epic evos around the trails so I looked at the second hand market and there are some previous models (120/110mm travel) that could fit to the budget. Imo this bike would handle the paved road very effectively but I am afraid that travel range is very limited and I dont want to face the underbiked problem if I get some experience. Sadly there are no base model from the new 2024 epic evo (130/120 mm travel) so its not and option.
The epic evo lead me to the “downcountry” bikes so I found the izzo. Here the core 1 and 2 would easily fit in the budget. From my perspective I dont see too many advantages for the core 2. I think this bike is in the middle of the Jeffsy and the epic evo, and could be capable enough, but I have no idea how does it feel to ride this on long flat terrain. Pressfit bb is also a major concern here.
Thanks for any thoughts, suggestions, experiences!

2024.05.13 18:46 Vegetable-Cherry-853 Any schematics for very fast ebike chargers?

I am building an ebike, and being an engineer, always seem to want the impossible. I am designing the battery with very good condition A123 LIFepo4 cells. Now the published charging current on these cells is a whopping 10 amps. I have a 16S8P configuration, so could charge this pack at 57.6 volts and 80 amps. Granted my circuit breaker would pop, so am shooting for a more manageable 15 amps from my 120 volt main, or about 30 amps at the charger output.
That being said, I could theoretically charge my bike in 40 minutes. Has anyone built a DIY charger that can do this, and if so, thoughts on a big toroidal transformer vs a switching power supply

2024.05.13 17:34 Character_Address_52 Has anyone tried going down teeth on the rear sprocket? Goal is hwy cruising at lower rpm

Basically Id like to be able to take the bike on longer freeway stints. For instance I have friends that live 120-180 miles away and I'd like to take the bike up to see them.
But idk about the longevity implications of sustaining 8-9krpm for 2-3 hours at a time. Or is it fine?
Has anyone gone down teeth to help with that? Did you have any issues? How's it for you?

2024.05.13 17:28 code_Red111 Haven't ridden in awhile, is MT09 too much for a returning rider?

For context I live in the US and I've been on two wheels as much as I've been on four. Rode dirtbikes all throughout my childhood, raced for years, got my first "real" street bike (KLR650) before my first car. Got a good deal on a Ninja 650 when I was 17 and rode that for another year. Joined the military and sold all 3 of my bikes (dirtbike too).
Anytime I go back home on leave I ride dirtbikes with my family (they have a ton of bikes), usually I ride a chunky Kaw 250 they have as a spare bike. Besides the occasional dirtbike trip I haven't ridden on the road for over 5 years. I have a long commute (~120 miles combined <2 hours a day) and I travel often. I've had my eyes on the MT07 for awhile, but I've seen and heard from many people that it's just not on the same level as the MT09 for that type of riding. I've also heard that insurance rates on the MT09 are much better than the MT07 (at least where I'm at in MD, I'm also 24 if that matters). I'd be using the bike to commute and long weekend trips often (4+ hours). I know that if I were to get the MT09 I'd be able to ride in B mode until I get my bearings, which would be the plan. I'd like to grow into the bike rather than get an MT07 and wish I had gotten the MT09. Also there are many new 23 MT09s going for $8600 near me, when new 23 MT07s are going for $8100.
My main question is would the MT09 be too much for me? The idea of it is exciting, but also makes me nervous lol. I wouldn't be as stupid as I was when I had my Ninja for sure.

2024.05.13 15:12 Independent-Bill-770 Suggestion purchase new ebike with 2 seat

...
I’m interested in getting an eBike… Primarily for my daughter who wants one specifically with a good rear passenger seat (she’s 13 and about 5’5”). I would be using it as well on occasion to make trips to the grocery store, etc (I’m 6’2”). We live by the beach so something with fat tires that can go on the beach would be great but not a deal breaker.
Was looking at the EP-2 Pro 120 km Range Max Speed 25 km/h Front Suspension Foldable E-bike+
but read a bunch of comments that It doesn't have 2 seat. Can i convert the ep-2 pro into 2 seat ebike?
.
What are some other good options? Sub $1k.

2024.05.13 10:21 FineDetective9548 Royal Enfield continental gt 650 pickup and rpm issue

Royal Enfield continental gt 650 pickup and rpm issue
I’m Atul kumar from panchkula, and I've been experiencing pickup issues with my Continental GT 650, purchased on October 31, 2023. Despite its recent 2nd service, the bike struggles to exceed speeds of 100-120 km/h. The RPMs are going up, but the bike fails to accelerate accordingly.

UPDATE:-

I just took my GT 650 to the Royal Enfield service center, but unfortunately, just 200 meters away from there, my rear tire got punctured. Since my bike has tube tires and it's the Rocker Red variant, not the 2023 alloy wheels variant, it posed a challenge. After fixing the puncture, they tested my bike, and initially, it felt normal while running it on the roads. However, on my way back home, the bike started experiencing power loss and struggled to reach 120 kmph. Please suggest any possible reasons for this issue, as the service center guys are unable to fix it.

Dumb trainer resistance help
Hello, I recently bought a trainer for use on rainy days, and was very excited to try it out today. However, I found that it's resistance is extremely low, and I could not really get it to be difficult to ride (my cadence was >120 easily on the hardest gear), and haven't found a way to adjust the resistance.
Does anyone have any advice/experience with these trainers? Here is a link below to the Amazon product for relevance:

2024.05.13 01:13 provom84 Question for growing

Question for growing
Planted clover late last summer in what the previous owners had made into a dirt ring for their son's bmx bike. Certain areas are doing very well this spring. The rest I replanted this spring with a clovebluegrass mix from Lowe's. The grass is coming in nicely but the clover is still very small and seems very slow to grow. Watering every day as the instructions stated. Curious if clover just takes longer or is it something else? I've added new soil to the planted areas which the grass really seems to like.

2024.05.12 21:51 soporsoror Do I have enough reasons to see an endocrinologist (undiagnosed)?

Hello everybody,
I am sorry for all the mistakes - I am not a native speaker!
So I am actually having already Chronic Pancreatitis since over 20 years (am 36 years old) und by now my pancreas is shrunk to about a third or a fourth of its original side.
Since some years I am telling the doctors that there might be something wrong with my blood sugar but each time they are very dismissive and telling me that as long as my HbA1c is kinda fine I am fine too and if I have problems I should stop eating junk food. When I tell them I don't eat junk food and how should I even with this bit of a pancreas they get even more dismissive.
So I just believed them that it is impossible for me to have any blood sugar issues and I was ashamed that I am trying so hard with the limited food options I have and I still have symptom like issues. Some months ago I figured that I should see a dietician to help me improve my diet even more and she got me a cgm.
So with my symptoms and my data I am seeing an endocrinologist on friday and tbh dealing with doctors for so long got me quite some anxiety and I would really appreciate it if somebody could tell me if I have some good reasons to talk to an endocrinologist or if I should be prepared to be sent away pretty much immediately because I don't have a case at all.
I think since I have such a small pancreas left the most logical thing would be that I am heading towards prediabetes, so I thought that this sub would be the most appropriate to ask in. If I am being wrong here then I am very sorry.
So my symptoms are like that:
Does it sound like a diet problem or could this be something an endocrinologist could look at? Would it be stupid to ask for a blood lab?
Thank you so much for any insight!!

2024.05.12 20:24 WorriedBoutItFcknAll Why do I score well on these tests but I can never translate that success into real life and to the things I do?

I score >125 FSIQ on the vast majority of tests and on most of those I score between 130 and 140, so I generally say I'm 135. Despite an IQ that should translate to success if I put the effort in, I find it near impossible to actually do well at college.
When it comes to memory, I score well on those sorts of tests but if it comes to trying to memorise important stuff for exams, I just can't. I could learn it the week before and yet when exams roll around, I just cannot remember it to save my life. It's not even really limited to exams either - memory problems, specifically long-term, affect me like crazy when it comes to real life. More often than not, I could not possibly say what I was doing the day before unless I was doing something more notable like going out with friends. I mean, I can't even remember what I was doing all day yesterday. That day is completely gone for me in memory.
Then there's verbal. I score well on vocabulary and general knowledge and reading comprehension and whatever but when it comes to talking or writing in real life, the words escape me. I stutter and stumble over my words like a fucking idiot, and basically speak on autopilot. There's never anything going on in my head when I'm speaking. People notice that I speak like I've just woken up from anaesthesia and I can't not. It's impossible. In text, I'm fine, but god forbid I try and speak using this supposedly large understanding of language. My index here is 135 on the dot. This doesn't make sense.
Processing is another thing and I find I'm slow at anything I do as well. Someone explains something to me and it takes me like 30 seconds to understand it even if it's a single instruction. My friend was helping me with maths the other day and he told me to rearrange some shit only for me to go "What?" "Huh?" because it took me so long to understand. Once I did, I got it just fine but it was downright embarrassing.
Spatially, I'm awful yet my indexes hover around 120-125. I stumble over myself physically all the time, am almost guaranteed to crash my car the moment I come to getting lessons, and can't ride a bike even if someone had a gun to my head forcing me to. I just can't manoeuvre in real life at all.
I'm averaging a D in Maths. A C in Biology. I put in the same effort as my friends and yet they get As, and I'm stuck here at the bottom completely incapable of remembering what I need to for my exams, or of reading and fully understanding what someone's asking me in a question so I can answer it correctly.
Why can you have high indexes and a high FSIQ, which is generally quite well-rounded, and perform this badly? I don't understand it. I put in the effort. I work my ass off revising and learning content and doing homework and all these little extras and I still can't understand anything compared to peers with probably average or close-to-that IQs.
