I wasn't really sure where to go to have this question answered, but since it probably has something to do with the way my house was designed, an architect seems the most likely to have an idea. Basically, my room is unbearably hot in the summer and refuses to hold cool air, and unbelievably cold in the winter, refusing to hold hot air. Whatever the daytime temperature is outside, that is what my room will be.
On the surface this seems like it would be an insulation problem, but the thing is only daytime temperatures affect it. Even with a window open, a fan blowing, and a 20 degree difference between day and night, my room will *not* cool down in the summer or warm up in the winter on its own. Anytime I use a heater or an air conditioner, it'll be okay for a time, but the second they get turned off, it simply won't hold it and default back to what it was before, regardless of the current temperature outside or of the surrounding rooms.
It's small, and a bit of an oddly shaped room. It's mostly square, but there's a huge rectangular closet built into it that takes up 2/3 of the back wall, which is the wall that faces outside. This means its one window is shoved into a little cubby of sorts. It's then flanked by two hallways and a master bedroom.
My house has a lot of peculiarities about it. A lot of switches that do nothing - an excessive amount, in fact - and honestly its entire wiring system is a catastrophe, and I don't know how it hasn't burned down yet. It seems to have been built in the 60s or 70s and was done very quickly and very cheaply because not everything's as square as it should be, and there's a very strange hodgepodge of outlets and different materials used.
So the fact that my room has so many issues with being comfortable year-round isn't exactly surprising, but I honestly don't know What I can do to manage it. My family has rented the place for a long time now, so we can't exactly do anything major to it without our landlord's permission, so I'm hoping by understanding the cause of the situation, maybe I can find a cheap solution to mitigate it.
I would just really like it to stay the temperature I want it at without constantly consuming energy. It was 65 degrees earlier and now it's boiling hot in here, even though it's now back in the 40s outside and the rest of the house is completely fine. Electric is expensive and ACs use a lot of it. Any ideas?

I got the error trying to build the package that I created using the instruction available on http://wiki.ros.org/ROS/Tutorials/ RosWiki
I am also trying to understand the folder structure and I am a noob trying to get into this field of robotics and everyone points to ROS and this is getting frustrating because I can't create a simple package and get to scripting.
I am running M3 Mac, let me know if you need anything else from me to help me troubleshoot this. I installed ROS using conda following instruction on this website:

22F, bmi around 21.5. I mostly notice this in situations where I am sitting or not moving a lot and it seems sometimes that movement is the only way for me to not be cold. I’m not sure if I just require a higher temperature than most people or if this could be a sign of some underlying condition, but here is where I’ve noticed it most:
1 the office at work. I share a room with 2 other people, and everyone remarks about how our room is significantly colder than the other 3 offices and the reception area. however, the other 2 people I share it with never seem as cold as I do. they admit it is colder than the rest of the building, but they are both fine in just long sleeves. I usually wear at least 2 layers, my winter jacket, sometimes gloves, and wrap myself up in a giant blanket! I was washing the blanket a few days and ago and was literally freezing so much that my teeth were chattering. for context, the two people I share the room with are a man and woman, both in their late 30s/early 40s.
2 hanging out with friends or at home - I feel like I’m always freezing unless I’m moving around/doing physical activity. my friends (mostly female and same age as me) will all take off their jackets and just wear their sweaters or even short sleeves, but I’m usually freezing and prefer to keep mine on at their houses or any public place we go to (eg restaurant or mall). at home, I feel like I’m also always cold and am unable to wear light clothes like everyone else and instead have to always be wearing a sweater or have a blanket on.

My wife and daughter slept in the back of the R1S, used both vehicles as battery banks to power electric appliances and wanted to share some battery stats. The R1S arrived with 83% battery. My family slept in the vehicle for two nights, running the HVAC both nights. The car drains about 1% an hour. In the summer we run just the fan and that only consumes 2-3% battery the whole night. Temperatures at night got into low 40s. We cooked chili and boiled water (30-45min of cooking) the battery didn’t drop a single percent. You can boil water for an hour on an electric cook top and maybe the battery would drop 1%. During breakfast we did trip the breaker on a power strip because we were drawing too much power using the 1500w griddle and 1000w stove top. The outlets put out 1500w. Unsure if that’s per each outlet or total for all 120v outlets? For the R1S I learned if you snake the extension cord through the bottom of the lower tailgate then the powercord does not kink! |

I know allll the advice out there is to completely avoid your ex, block them, complete no contact. I definitely think you should reduce contact for sure, and I’m sure for a lot of people complete avoidance does help. But I just met my ex’s new girl and I actually feel… good. I was a part of his kid’s life from ages 3 to 8. So he’s very attached to me and in some ways he’s like my kid. So at least for now I’m happy to take him out for an afternoon once a month. My ex got a new girlfriend right away and they’ve been together 2 months. It was insanely painful for me to deal with right away. Torture. feeling replaced and like I didn’t matter and comparing myself to her and just all manner of misery. Well today I met her when I went to pick up the kid and drop him off. She’s pretty. She seems sweet. They both love intense gardening projects and I never liked doing that stuff all weekend with him.

Here’s why I think it actually helped more than just imagining everything from a distance:
- It helped me to see clearly that what we had is over. There’s someone else taking my place. And that kind of brought me to a new level of letting go.
- I’m almost… happy for them? Like I couldn’t tell what I thought about their actual connection, but he’s finally got someone to go outside and farm with him and be excited about it rather than him trying to drag me all the time. And I got to go spend my morning selling art and making new friends in the city instead of being guilted into doing yard work all day.
- I suddenly felt… not that into him. Like he’s her problem now. They can fight about me after I leave and I don’t have to deal with his drama anymore. I know the kind of shit show, beautiful as it often is, she’s getting herself into, and it’s not my problem anymore. I also just didn’t feel that attracted to him and felt like I preferred to talk to him platonically.
- Suddenly I’m not flooded with the fantasy of him having this perfect new love story with someone better than me. It’s just 2 humans trying to figure their own shit out, having both good times and bad times.
- She’s nothing like me, so I don’t feel the need to compare. She’s closer to his age (in her 40s, I’m 28) and she’s clearly much more grounded and mature and has her shit together and has a calming energy. But I’m whimsical and funny and creative and deep. And I actually feel respect for who she appears to be, but I feel proud to be my weird, messy, whimsical self. There’s no point comparing 2 completely different people.

I read multiple posts and see people recommending a) target date retirement funds, b) 75/25 stocks/bonds allocation or, c) 90/10 stocks/bonds allocation.
We already have around 400K invested in treasuries and CDs (earning about 5%) and also, 1.5 Million + in 401K / retirement accounts across the both of us. We both came from poverty and live our lifestyle assuming a single income.
We have 2.25% mortgage (with 300K outstanding to pay) and a fully-paid off rental property. In terms of large expenses in the next 4 years, we anticipate spending 250K for private high school. Our liquid money (CDs + treasuries + savings accounts) will be used to pay for the private high school.
Our joint pre-tax income is around 500K and we have two children (14 and 9). They both have 529s setup with biweekly contributions.
Based on my research, this is what was thinking about the 400K.
Step 1: Immediately put all of it in Target Date 2045 fund

Our joint pre-tax income is around 500K and we have two children (14 and 9). They both have 529s setup with biweekly contributions.
Based on my research, this is what was thinking about the 400K.
Step 1: Immediately put all of it in Target Date 2045 fund
Step 2: Over the course of next six months (paranoid me), move this money piecemeal into the following three funds:
- 60% Vanguard Total Stock Market Index
- 20% Vanguard Total Intl Stock Index
- 20% Vanguard Total Bond Market Index

Hi Everyone. I'm not even sure what I'm posting yet, but been spiraling pretty bad with several ruminating thoughts that I just can't figure out.
I'm stumped again. My lease is ending in less than 3 weeks and I'm not working and frankly haven't for about 4 years. I keep thinking I'm going to be OK, that a great job is right around the corner, but it's delusional. I'm not good. I'm not stable at all. Just now is my treatment team coming around to the bp2 diagnosis and just recently, it's quite apparent to me, thanks in large part to this sub and now from reading, Take Charge of Bipolar Disorder.
I do have another apartment lined up, but as lots of us know, rent prices are ridiculous and it's getting so expensive where I live. When I was speaking to my father briefly, he was trying to find places near him, which are a tad more affordable and so he can "help" me. But my parents have been incredibly hurtful and abusive. My mother (as I can see now) is bp2 as well (so was her father, and his father); and fed me so many paranoid thoughts throughout my life, was cold/distant one minute, loving the next; but never hesitated to let me know how awful I was in my worst, dark, desperate moments. My father, has belittled me, screamed at me, laughed at me while crying more times than I can count. I am currently not speaking with them as it's so triggering to hear from them. I wish I had family to turn to.
I have no idea what to do. I'm living off savings and will continue to have to do so until that runs out. I know I first and foremost need to get stable as much as possible with meds and treat things that need treated, things I've never even opened up to my treatment team about bc I've lived with this for so long (I'm in my 40's and just now getting the diagnosis).
I've lost everything over and over again. I've never been able to maintain employment for a super long time (I made it almost 3years at one place, then they fired me). I demanded divorce from my ex wife 2.5 years ago and still can't believe what I did, how I treated her, how I abused her the exact same ways my father and mother abused me. If only I could've had this diagnosis then and known how to treat it, to give names to my irritability and explosivity. Names for the non stop racing thoughts, the paranoid delusions and now realizing, accusatory hallucinations as well. The insomnia. Sensory overload. The deep deep sadness, self loathing, suicidality. Fuck. It's so sobering to know everything you've lost to this illness.
I keep holding out hope sometimes. Maybe I'll get stable somehow. Maybe I can ride things out just a little while longer and things will change. I just don't know. Maybe one of you can relate, have been in this predicament before. Maybe had to face this illness and diagnosis all alone? Thanks all.

I like the older style looking bikes. I was thinking about a Honda gb350. I think the style of bike I like is called cafe racer? I'll need to do a bit of freeway riding. I like the single sound. Not into the Harley look or the racer look.
Budget is around $8k. Obviously it has to be learner compliant. One day I'd like to do some bike camping. I'll be riding into the city a bit for my commute.

Not everyone knows the trading market like the back of their hands, and sometimes they oversell/undersell stuff. I am one of those people, though I try to be fair and reasonable by checking multiple sources for prices.
I went into the trading realm believing 1k was a reasonable offer for Oxytalis because that is what I regularly saw it go and sell for. I just learned that is the lowball offer and that it goes between 1~2k, but that's fine, I can pay 2k easily.
But can someone tell me why that warrants a swarm of people going “BAHAHAHAHHA” while throwing insults? Mind you I wasn't lowballing on purpose, and I kept on asking “is my offer off?” “How much is it worth?” “plz tell me what is wrong” the whole time while they continued to mock and swarm me without answering.
At that point, I was convinced that I was somehow off by like 10k or something before someone finally said “It usually goes for 2k, but you can sometimes get it for 1k”
Holy balls. All that over a 1k difference? Admittedly, I was only offering 1/2 the usual price, and that is a little crazy, but still. It was obvious that it was a mistake. And it wasn't that serious anyway.
It only takes 5 seconds to inform someone. I mean, seriously, how hard is it for people to just kindly correct and inform others? I immediately changed how much I was offering and got Oxy, but, good god.

But seriously, it's not just the trading realm. The playerbase itself has seemingly got more toxic and hostile. As someone else said, there’s no whimsy or fun anymore. I honestly used to roleplay a lot and have a lot of fun, but all of that seems to be gone or “cringe” now and I don't get it.
What did I miss while I was gone? Did we get a wave of new players who are just allergic to kindness, fun, and happiness? Did they murder and replace all the fun and whimsy people? I used to love nesting and raising little creature families, but even that has become sour and dull because no one is interested in that anymore unless it's for mutation grinding or taking a stored slot and logging. Or am I just having bad luck this month, and nothing much has changed about the playerbase?

Seat 1 $800 - 60/15/0 - loose passive. Has been seen limp/calling T9o UTG.
Seat 3 $1200 (V1) - 40/32/10 - Aggressive regular, has a backpack and early 20s. The first hand that Hero sees when sat down is between V1 and Seat 1. Preflop Seat 1 $20, V1 calls. Flop JT7r S1 $30, V2 call. Turn 4d, S1 $35, V1 call. River 6s S1 $35, V1 All-in. Gets S1 to fold AA and shows an 8.
Seat 4 $450 (V2) - 50/5/0 - loose passive, late 20s. Has been seen cold calling in SB with T7dd vs UTG, UTG1 limp and BU Squeeze 25.
Seat 5 $500 - 20/10/5 - tight (aggressive?) late 40s/early 50s asian. Taken the pot down twice pre and folded flop once.
