My details:
35M, 5’11, 280lbs, Caucasian, confirmed diagnosis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (apical variety) and essential hypertension (controlled), currently taking 2.5mg bisoprolol and 7.5mg ramipril, I do not nor have ever smoked, I do not drink alcohol, I do not nor have ever used recreational or performance enhancing drugs, UK.
Context:
I was diagnosed with apical HCM after several heart tests. My ECG is here if it helps. To manage my hypertension and HCM symptoms, I’m on bisoprolol (2.5mg) and ramipril (7.5mg).
I don’t have syncope. I do not suffer from breathlessness during regular activities (but obviously get out of breath if I'm exercising). I sometimes experience chest tightness (not pain) while exercising, however this does not occur if I train in a fasted state (which I find odd). I occasionally get palpitations but no other known heart rhythm issues.
My cardiologist’s care is slow-moving, and I don't have direct access for queries. I need advice on safe exercise with HCM. Post-diagnosis, the cardiologist advised ‘light to moderate’ exercise, but I’m unclear on specifics.
Although overweight, I was previously very active. I did hiking, sprinting, e-biking, and powerlifting. However, since my diagnosis, I've been seriously put off exercise given the risk of SCD with HCM. It is my understanding that walking, hiking, and biking are fine if I keep an eye on my heart rate (target under 140 BPM). I also understand powerlifting and sprinting is out as these are high intensity. However, I’m unsure about resistance training more broadly and would love some advice.
Questions:

1. Is it advisable for me to perform any form of resistance training, considering my age (35) and desire to maintain strength and mobility into older age? While I understand that powerlifting (high weight, low rep, with Valsalva manoeuvre) is off-limits, could I participate in high repetition, lower weight resistance exercises without Valsalva manoeuvre?
2. I’m puzzled about why maintaining an average heart rate of 130bpm during a 30-minute bike ride or walk is deemed safer than a light whole-body weightlifting session that also keeps my heart rate at 130bpm. Am I overlooking a factor other than heart rate that makes certain exercises riskier for someone with HCM? If so, what is it?
3. I appreciate this forum may not be able to provide me an answer at all. However, if you cannot provide an answer to the above two questions, would you be able to tell me if there specific tests or tools that could clarify whether I can safely continue weightlifting with HCM? I’ve heard of athletes with HCM who still compete, suggesting there are methods to assess this. Knowing about these could facilitate a productive discussion with my cardiologist and allow me to request a referral.

I’ve been working with doordash for bout a good 2-3 years now just on and off mainly as a part time I’m very good dasher I have a 4.95 customer rating and 91% acceptance but I have a issue with only being able to schedule for only half an hour but would be sitting in hot spots for most the time only receiving 1 order maybe 2 but if I’m lucky on a good day I’ll get 4 or 5 but now it’s unlikely these days as I’m typing I am currently waiting on orders till 10:30 in a hotspot but haven’t received a single order

This could apply to anyone anywhere, really. I live in the conservative south and from what I’ve noticed it’s only going to get worse for queer folks as anti-LGBT laws are being pushed and passed, and people are becoming more and more divided and hateful. Everything I’ve ever known is here and my entire family is pretty much exclusive to this part of the country, but as time passes I get the feeling that this just isn’t my place. I just want to live a mostly peaceful life without my choices being a ginormous deal. I think opportunity and maybe a better life lies over 1,000 miles away.

I’ve been waiting patiently for my boomer moment ever since discovering this sub! This happened at work about 30 minutes ago and I can’t be more excited to share this here. I (M,35) work at a distribution center for a car manufacturer, aka we ship car parts to dealerships. The boomer in this story is the maintenance guy, we’ll call him Bill for this story. Bill (M, 62) in typical boomer fashion, likes to interject himself into every conversation he hears and always has to make comments. For context, neither of us are small dudes. I am 6 ft 1 and 350lbs, he is 6 ft 2 and about 450lbs. He uses a golf cart to get around the warehouse and when he walks it’s at a very slow pace and he’s visibly sweating within a few steps. L I recently was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and am putting in a lot of effort to make changes (have lost 31 lbs in 2 months, fully cut out pop etc) and have been trying to walk more. I refuse to let Type 2 kill me. Anywho, not the point…
Cut to this morning- one of Bill’s packages arrived and was on my desk. No problem, just walked it up to Bill’s desk (keep in mind this is up 5 steps and through an office area into where his cubicle is, so maybe 300 feet at most). He cracks a joke about me getting my steps in. I acknowledged that yes, I am getting my steps in. Back to work I go. Then, just now he drives up on his cart to ask me a question. I walk over to him because I couldn’t hear and again “just had to get a few extra steps in?” This time I fired back “yes Bill. I don’t want to end up confined to a golf cart like you.” Bill turned beat red and hasn’t said a word since.

Hey, I have a Dell U2713hm, it max out at 2560x1440. Not on HDMI or VGA (full HD or less only with these two connections), but only with DVI or DP accordingly to the user manual.
Scenario 1: If I connect the monitor to the iPad Air M1 or to the MacBook Pro M1 Pro using a DP to usb c cable, both are using it at 2560x1440. Scenario 2: If I use DVI to HDMI then a usb c hub the Mac uses the display at max resolution while the iPad is limited to Full HD.
I can’t figure out why the iPad behave differently from the Mac, and I’d like to use the usb hub to connect screen, power and an external HD at the same time. I have tried with both the Apple usb c hub (power, HDMI, usb A) and a third party one from Amazon multiport, same result. Before you ask, there is no Display Zoom option shown under display in the second scenario, but it’s there in the first scenario. Both the iPad and the Mac are updated to the latest OSes.

So as with many users here, my relationship with MIL was fine before having a baby, but now that he’s here she’s developed a classic case of baby rabies and has become a bit of a boundary pusher. I know this is common for new moms, but watching her interact with my son (4 months old) spikes my anxiety majorly and she’s suddenly way more annoying to me than she was before the baby. She lives about an hour away and I’d say we see her and FIL maybe once every 2 weeks. Some examples: MIL loves to barge into our house and try to take the baby from me immediately. I don’t think she’s ever actually asked if she can hold him, it’s usually “I’m going to steal him now” (one time she walked up to me while he was actively nursing and said TO THE BABY “Grandma’s going to burp you now so Mommy can get up”, no hello to me or anything-I just stared at her for a minute and told her I was going to nurse until he was finished), uses obnoxious baby talk in a weird voice, and always “answers” AS the baby if anyone says anything to him which drives me absolutely nuts. We also have a hard time getting her to surrender the baby back to one of us if he starts crying, because of course she knows exactly what’s wrong and can fix it. She is just hyper focused on him the entire time she’s around, to the point that she’s impossible to have a normal conversation with because she’s so busy following me around commenting on every tiny little movement or sound he makes. As someone with a VERY large personal space bubble, this is increasingly hard for me to put up with, and I’ve started going up to the bedroom to nurse or rock him to sleep using the excuse that the baby is too distracted by lights and sound right now because I’m tired of her hovering over me waiting for him to finish so she can try to scoop him up again.
This is her first grandchild and I’m glad she’s excited and loves him so much but she is just overwhelming and something about her audacity and lack of self awareness to how annoying she’s being puts me on the defensive and makes me dread seeing her. My husband has for the most part just let her get away with all of it. Whenever she asks to visit he’ll agree before consulting with me, which I try to be understanding of because it’s his mom but sometimes I’m just not in the mood to see people, even family. I’ve tried explaining to him how anxious her actions make me feel and his response has been that she’s always this annoying around babies (he has a big family with lots of younger cousins) and everyone just tries to ignore it. Which was not the most helpful response ever and had started causing some strain/resentment between us.
ANYWAY, MIL has started calling husband every few days to ask how the baby’s doing and asking when she can see him again. A few days ago they’re talking while baby is asleep on me and I hear him say “well I appreciate that, but please don’t just stop by. You need to text OP to make sure it’s a good day for a visit.” Apparently she had been planning to start “dropping in” on me the 1-2 days a week my husband goes into the office to “help out”(aka hog the baby and annoy me) and he actually stood up to her and told her she needs to ask first! AND THEN he told her we were planning to just have a chill day at home for my first Mother’s Day and could celebrate with her soon another time- in previous years the expectation has always been that all her kids come visit her all day on Mother’s Day (I did send a card and flowers so it’s not like we ignored her). This was 4 days ago and she hasn’t asked to see the baby since so she’s either realized we need some space or is super mad to be told no for once. Either way, I had a lovely peaceful Mother’s Day at home and got to snuggle my baby as much as I wanted, and I’m so thankful my husband has started to realize he needs to be the one to say “no”!

I am newer to Zepbound and this community and would love some help. I was trying to find 5 mg (I know, it’s a struggle for so many!) and decided to try Medfinder. They did it! I got a text last night that it was located. I called this morning and the Walgreen’s was super helpful and nice about transferring my prescription. It’s less than 30 minutes away so not a big deal to drive there after work today.
So I thought it was all done until I got a call back from the pharmacy. Apparently my insurance isn’t contracted with Walgreen’s so they wouldn’t cover it and it would be $550. Didn’t love that but I talked to my spouse and we agreed it was worth it for this month. Again, decided to drive there after work and thought it was all settled.
Until I got a call again saying that the Zepbound code wouldn’t go through since I have insurance that would not cover with their pharmacy and it would be almost $1,200. I had to tell them I would have to pass and continue trying to find it elsewhere. They were super nice and helpful but I am so disappointed now.
So on to my question. Does anyone know if there’s a way to notify Medfinder that a certain pharmacy is out of your insurance contract and can’t be used? Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

It’s become clear that, due to every Apple market other than phones being minuscule compared to the competition, Apple contents themselves with the kind of customer turnover that would make any other company blush. By their own assessment, half of the iPads they’ll be selling starting tomorrow will go to folks new to Apple. That means, of the over 500 million iPads they’ve sold since the introduction (if their unit sales next year are 65-70 million), they only expect 32-35 million of those to go to repeat purchasers!
Looking at it that way, it’s clear why it Apple has no problem making the new Pencil incompatible with the old one, the new Keyboard incompatible with the old one, and vice versa. They’re totally fine with the message “Buy the whole set, why dontcha?” because the pain would, at absolute most, only be experienced by those owning 7% of ALL the iPads that have ever shipped! Of course, that’s ONLY if every iPad Apple ever sold was an iPad Pro and we know that’s not the case. More realistically, if we say that 80% of iPads sold are not Pros, then the folks impacted are really only 1-2% of every iPad that Apple’s sold. If everyone that has an iPad Pro were to decide to sit this one out, it wouldn’t even tickle the balance sheet!
Remember that when plunking down the cash for a new iPad Pro. Two years from now, when you think Apple’s going to be trying to put out a product you might be able to upgrade to, you may find yourself as one in over 600 million that has to rebuy everything all over again if you want to keep up.

Hello! I am a high schooler from Washington, and right now in my Human Geography class, we’re doing an end of year project wherein we try and create some change in our local community based on 1 of 2 assigned countries (one is portugal). I’ve been looking around a lot, but I’m not sure what aspects of Portugal / Portuguese culture would be beneficial for the city where I live, so I was wondering if any of you have some aspects of Portuguese culture that you wish was in the U.S. that are small enough for a high schooler to implement? I recently redownloaded it and am currently doing a pacifist run, after having done the same for Deus Ex 1 and 2, leading into Human Revolution (HR) and Mankind Divided (MD). It’s like a micro version of Human Revolution, with an art style that still looks great despite the low-quality textures. The game features excellent locales, open-ended mission design, and a pretty good story. Even on a Pixel XL, it looks impressive.
The constant loading between hub areas is annoying and reminds me of Invisible War. However, I feel the developers did their best given the limitations they were working with. I would have liked to see a continuation of this game because all the elements are there, and they could have really made something great with this framework. Considering the state of mobile games, I think The Fall is a solid single-player FPS that, unfortunately, includes the microtransactions common in modern game design (not just mobile). It's forgivable because I never felt like I was missing out by not paying to win.
Reading the reviews for the game on Steam, it seems like people either ignore or are unaware that it was ported from mobile and designed for touchscreen controls. This misunderstanding is disheartening because the game is unfairly criticized for issues inherent to mobile game design

So my Cat turned 1 years old this month, I’ve had him since he was 8 weeks old and love him to pieces. He’s a bit of a character, very friendly, adaptable and can sometimes be cuddly too. However, ever since I’ve had him he’s always been really aggressive. I’ll come home from work and he’ll rub up on me and have cuddles for a bit and then straight away starts biting because he wants his food (I feed him in the morning and after work). As soon as my alarm goes off he also bothers me in the morning to feed him, constantly jumping on the bed and grabbing my arms or feet. If I’m sat on the sofa he will stare at me and start wiggling his bum and hunts me, he will often jump on to my back as well (sofa is in the middle of the room) and attack my head. He has plenty of toys and I’ll try and redirect him but he has no interests in them, he just gets bored so I assume he’s tired and then it’s straight back to me again. He’s an angel with my flatmate and doesn’t attack her and 50% of the time he is lovely, either sleeps or has a little wander around and occasionally comes for cuddles. But even when he comes for cuddles after a few minutes he will randomly attack me again (even when I’m not stroking him).
I got him neutered 2 weeks ago to see if that would combat the aggression but it hasn’t seemed to have made a difference. He also has a habit of peeing on my bed which is a total nightmare.
I’m just looking on advice as to what to do because while none of his behaviour is malicious, I cannot deal with constantly being on edge. I imagine with age he will settle down but I’ve tried redirecting him with toys and giving him positive reinforcement but nothing makes a difference.

I haven’t been playing much lately but counting my lucky stars to have gotten mate in this one. I have rarely gotten such a see saw game. Pgn pasted below. My thoughts in the game:

1. Opening : I thought he was being a bit silly moving c and d pawns and then the a pawn like he did.
   
2. Move 11: He goes Qb3 and I can’t find a counter. Can’t move the knight which is now attacked twice or he gets my f pawn and rook and looks totally bad. If I move Be6 to defend the knight, the bishop blocks my rook from defending the e pawn. (This was the correct move and in game I didn’t see the line that puts me up material if he takes the seemingly free e pawn)
   

I went Bxd3. Frankly for no good reason why other than to get a pawn for what I thought was a lost knight, and maybe clear the f file for my queen in future. In hindsight would have been better just to lose the e pawn even if I didn’t see the engine follow up.

1. Move 14: Checked with the knight and the subsequent takes were as expected. I was thinking to checkmate eventually on Rg6. Didn’t see the counter of Ra4, which he could then bring to the g file to block the check, protected by a pawn. Neither did my opponent though.
   
2. Move 18: didn’t take the bishop with the queen because I thought that would let his king escape to e2 then d1, then his knight or bishop could block and there would be no chance of mate. Engine showed taking with queen was correct though as taking with rook meant he could bring his queen to e3 and force a queen trade. I didn’t see that. I only saw Re3 which I dismissed because that would be M1 for me with Qxf2, his rook blocking his queens’s protection of the f2 pawn. My opponent didn’t see the queen move though and after Rxh2 mate was unstoppable.

Shinys and Epics are meant to be expensive. Comparing old prices to new prices makes no sense because the game been barely out for 3 - 4 months. Old prices were because people were barely adjusting to the game and had barely any coins. Calling a market inflated just because you can not afford that shiny or what their asking is crazy
You can still collect albums and songs, just get the rare version of the songs? The whole point of shinys and epics are like shiny Pokémon’s. Valuable and Hard to get. I don’t think a lot of yall realize how hard it is to specifically get a shiny song that is worth a lot like a Shiny Travis song from Utopia. You have to roll that 1% chance from a random drop, it has to be a hip hop drop, then you have to roll that specific song instead of the many artist and their random songs.
