The paws that went by on that ship were better than the one in the pens. No one was eaten, and no Grays were stalking around. It was like they were avoiding us. No one but me knew where they were taking us, others guessed we were being moved to another cattle farm, which I guess wasn’t far from the truth, but most were quietly stewing in what was likely our last paws. The cut from that thing had healed up mostly, and was now scarring without the proper medical attention.
I didn’t tell the others that we were going to the ‘extinct’ predators home, that would only create more panic, so I kept my mouth shut so that the people here might have some hope. Even if it was a false hope.
The cargo bay that they had loaded us into was a similar dark metal to the cattle facility, but this one was missing the old rusty metal meaning this was likely a new ship. I doubted that these monsters could clean anyway.
They didn’t communicate with us at all. They stopped feeding us and just left us in the cargo bay with a bucket of water and a crate of food. There was no sense of rationing it so it was gone within the first 2 paws of this cattle exchange.
I don’t want to be a human’s play thing, they are just as bad if not worse than the Arxur. I have seen what they did to one another… they are so brutal.. I couldn’t finish the video about them..
A few of the other Venlil around me also had scars. We were lucky to escape that place alive… or were we?
The ship began to slow and the tell tale sign of entering a atmosphere was felt. This was a feeling that I had felt before when I would stay with my father. I used to go with him on some of his colony work. I would stay on the ship so I was never in harm's way.
The ship landed and we saw the Grays for the first time in several paws. I assumed that we were on the predators’ planet, but as we disembarked we were greeted by nothing but us cattle and… an old neighborhood of Venlil design? The Grays herded the last of the cattle off, throwing or shoving them, and once we were all off the cargo bay doors closed and the engines powered back on… they took off and just left???

This didn’t make sense in the slightest… Why would they just leave us their cattle here? There weren't even any predators here to take us just, the empty space of a lost colony.
Then it clicked with me that other predators must already be here and they wanted to hunt us, they were just as bad as i had thought. I had failed these people before, but I wouldn't fail them again.. I just needed to find something I could use, anything.
I won’t let these people or myself be taken by monsters… not again.. I can’t.. I will not fail my job again.. I-
I was pulled from my thoughts as more ships landed around us. I was ready to try to protect these people but they were… of Venlil make…? This had to be a sick joke played by the predators. they had to have stolen our ships. There was no way my people had anything to do with these monsters, they couldn’t be reasoned with.

It has to be predatory tricky.
I watched with bated breath as the landing ramps touched down, ready to be proven right, but to my shock and horror, Venlil medical staff began to come out of the ships and started to load the cattle onto stretchers, and then take them to the ship board.
My head was spinning and I felt sick about what this could mean. Had the Tarva betrayed the Federation and made a deal with these things? No, that wasn’t possible. They made it very clear they would never talk with us prey, let alone make a deal. For the first time I was at a loss.
How had we been sent back to our people? We were food for the Grays yet they had just let us go. This didn’t make sense…
My breathing had become irregular and I started to feel dizzy. Nothing about this made any sense.
HOW WERE WE RELEASED.. What had Tarva don-
I fell back from the shock from all this and was loaded onto a stretcher, my breathing quickened and everything went black.

I woke in a stretcher being wheeled into a hospital room. I pawed at my eyes trying to see clearly and when my vision unblurred I saw a large figure with a black reflective mask over their face and Venlil by their side, I didn’t recognize the tall one. Had we made first contact in the time I’d been gone..? Why didn’t they have a tail?

A growl suddenly came from the tall one that my translator told me meant “You’re safe now, you’re on Venlil Prime. I’m Andrew, and this is my friend Annek. She and I are here to help as much as we can.”
I didn’t say anything. For all I knew this was a dream.. misplaced hope the Arxur wouldn’t just give us back to our people. Annek couldn't actually have made it out alive. There was something that had to be happening. Had my home been taken by the humans that Arxur had spoken about, was this tall one in front of me one of them? Was any of this even real..? Was I still in a pen..?
The Venlil made slow steps to me and started to untangle my fur.
“What’s your name?” the Venlil asked me softly. If this truly was Annek, then how could she not see it was me? Had the Arxur really mangled me so much that my best friend couldn’t see that it was me.
Again I didn’t answer.
How could I just go back to normal after what I had seen? Why was it so hard to just be happy to believe the lie even if only for a while, this was my friend?
I had an uneasy feeling of being watched like in the cattle pens. The comment that the Arxur made stuck in my head, but I didn't see any ‘extinct’ predators.

As the tall thing started to walk over to me with slow uncertain steps, I tensed up and my paw grabbed the fur around my legs. It seemed to slow as I did which showed that it had at least a minor amount of empathy and wasn’t a human, and I began to relax, still perplexed as to why we had been given back. Had the Federation hit the Arxur hard somehow and got us back? Was that even possible?

“hello? Is anyone in that head of yours?” I was pulled back to reality by Andrew shaking my shoulder softly.

“…. Y-yes j-just lost i-in m-my head.” I was stuttering much more than I would’ve liked to, but it was impossible to not stutter. My voice was a far cry from what it once was deep and hoarse from disuse.

“So there is someone in there. What’s your name?”

“U-uh, I think i-it was V-Vaill…”
How was my name that far away in my own head…?
The Arxur had deprived us of anything that let us feel sapient and my mind was reeling from what seemed to be a safe place… why would they let us go? Especially me as I was on the taller side of Venlil..
Annek's ears shot up upon hearing my name. “V-Vaill? You're alive?!”
“Y-yeah, I guess I am…”
“You two know each other? Never mind, do you know when you were taken by them?” the tall thing growled.

“I-i’m n-not sure…”

“Well Vaill, I’m going to check the database for when you were last seen so we can get an idea of how long you were gone, ok?”

I flicked my ears in agreement nervously when he walked out of the room, and I was left with the Annek, who seemed overjoyed to see me after all this time.
“Vaill! You’re alive!” She hugged me tightly, wrapping her tail around me as well.
“I-I didn’t think you m-made it out a-alive, A-Annek… it's g-good to see you again.”
Lacking the energy or the will to say or do anything else, I let myself fall back into her embrace, which lasted for a few moments before she went back to brushing my fur.
After around {20 minutes} passed she had finished straightening my fur. It felt good to feel like a person again, to remember who I was, but I would never be my full self again, not after what those things had done to me…

After some time Andrew made his way back with a holopad. He tilted the screen so that I could see, fortunately it was in Venlil script so I could read it.

“I-it's been f-five months…” It had felt like an eternity in that nightmare, time slipped away from me. I’d been stuck in my own head, wondering if there was a way I could’ve done more to protect the people of my town, knowing I failed.

There is nothing left for me here anymore, the people who cared for me, gone…
I was a failure for not doing better and protecting them, I should’ve done better.. I failed Annek, she is the last thing I have.. But she deserves someone who can protect her.. She doesn't need me…
“So you two know each other?” the tall thing growled, which snapped me back to reality.
I remained silent, unsure on what this thing was but Annek didn’t seem to mind it, so it was clearly prey like us, which meant I should start calling it by gendered pronouns. They seem male, at least by Venlil standards. I was not sure if this is real but Annek was all I had left. Even if this was a dream, I would trust her.
“Yeah, we met a long time ago. Vaill and I were best friends up until he was taken by them.”
“I-I.. yeah, we met d-during s-school..”
My head was spinning, still caught up on what that Arxur had said… humans… but there were no ‘humans’ where I had been offloaded, there were only Venlil.. That meant that the humans must be here… but no one was panicking and if there were predators here, people would panic, wouldn't they?
I trust Annek, I need to ask her about what the Arxur said…
“A-Annek… d-do you k-know.. If there a-are h-humans h-here..? The A-A-Arxur s-said we w-were b-being sent as ‘p-pets’ for them…”
The happiness from Annek drained as her ears drooped. The tall one, Andrew I believed they called themselves, froze and took a step back. Why would he do that? Unless… unless h- it was…
“A-Annek?.. W-what… what…”
It looked at my best friend.. like it had forward facing eyes, which confirmed my suspicions and my fur puffed out with fear and my ears pinned back against my head. I pushed my paws on the bed and tried to get as much distance as I could. It was standing in the doorway so I had no way out. My worst fears had been proven true, the Arxur wasn’t lying, we had simply been moved to another cattle farm… one that was once my home… Venlil Prime had fallen to the monsters I wanted to protect it from.
“Vaill there's no need to overreact, the humans are our friends, Andrew is my exchange program partner, he hasn’t hurt anyone. I can’t even imagine him hurting anyone,” Annek said that… with confidence? Why would she lie for a predator? Why was her tail wagging!?! It was like she trusted this thing, no, it was like she LIKED it?!
“H-has the taint r-really gotten to y-you, Annek?”
“Vaill, the humans are the ones that saved you!”
How could she say that after what predators had done to me! I knew this was too good to be true.
Annek was blind to their trickery and yet she was so sure of herself.. I trusted her.. But not that thing behind her..
“H-how can you trust it?”
“He has done nothing to hurt me. Please, just give him one chance.” Her eyes and body took on a pleading look.. Damn it, why was she so good at that?
“F-fine, one ch-chance, but that's it.”
That same happiness returned back to her and almost fell over by the door where it caught her.
She may not see it, but I do, I will atone for my mistakes by proving that these humans are up to something. It shouldn’t be hard, I just need to make it to an exterminators office. ‘Till then, I'll play along with it’s game.

People say “it” is objectifying, but that’s only because until now the only gender neutral things in English were objects. We also refer to animals as “it” pretty often when we don’t know the sex.
Having gender neutral pronouns for people is new, so of course using the already existent gender neutral pronoun is going to feel unnatural. But it’s better to work with what we already have. For example:
“They want to go to the movies for their birthday.”
“What? I didn’t know it was the twins’ birthday”

I'm a trans boy and use any pronoun but she/her. I go by my middle name. Im on the younger side (I won't say my age sos) and still live with my parents and go to high school. I'm in a family of four me my elder sister (is currently attending uni and still lives at home) my mum and my dad
I know my family is ok with being gay or bisexual as they voted yes for gay marriage in Australia and they call one of my trans friends by there current pronouns and my mum works with someone who is LGBT I also have a pride flag in my room. However both my parents are accidentally homophobic alot because they don't fully understand it.
I never really came out as trans I mentioned being LGBT but never really had a conversation about it to my family. One day a cupple years ago I just kinda went up to my head of year level at school and asked that teacher if I could go by my preferred name, she said sure and on my school profile next to my legal name is now my preferred name. My mum asked me about it a cupple days later and I just said I like my middle name better she shrugged and that was it.
My family still calls me by my legal name. My mum said it's because she just isn't ready to call me something else yet (valid it's a big change), dad's in denial and I never asked my sister. It's been a long time since I asked them to call me by my middle name I might ask again soon.
Now my problem
If you add all the first letters in our names (my dead name not my preferred name) together it creates a name of a object (I'm being vague as this might give me away lmao) my mum and my sister have always planned on getting a tattoo of this object. I was completely and utterly unaware of this I was never told about the plan for tattoos as everyone thought I already new about it. If I had known about the plan I probably whould of chosen a new name that starts with the same letter as my dead name instead of my middle name.
A cupple months ago I found out about the plan for tattos while in the car with my entire family. After I learnt about it my sister joked that I had messed up the tattoo because I no longer go by my og name I shrugged apologieing before we moved on to a different topic and I forgot about it.
Now mum and my sister are planing to get the tattoo done. I'm not sure what to do as the tattoo has me represented by my original name.the thought of the tattoo makes me feel kinda sad and uncomfortable but It means alot to my mum and sister as it represents family and us being bonded together even when were struggling. I really I don't want to take that away from them just because it doesn't use my correct name. I feel really lost and unsure of what to do.

After researching with ChatGPT and discussing my gender identity, I came out as non-binary with the pronouns de/ du/ dus. When I was challenged I had the following exchange with ChatGPT:

Dude is a gender identity word normally, so as a non-binary person, I wouldn’t apply it to myself.
But because Dudeism states that both sexes can be dudes (and all genders can be dudes), as opposed to a dude/ dudette binary, I thought that this modified a gender meaning of the word dude as well and that I could identify as this non-binary gender including by using the pronouns de/ du/ dus.
However, playing devils advocate, somebody suggested that this might be offensive because it might be a more subtle form of the “apache helicopter” trope (right wing people mocking trans people by saying they identify with being a helicopter if a male can identify as a woman).”

Forgive me, I am about to wax so much philosophical. ( I also acknowledge that this is probably not very original discourse, but I felt like writing about it, so I did.)
I'm 17, AMAB, and about 10 days ago, I began reassessing my gender identity. Since i first acknowledged the possibility of being trans, I began to notice how I'd feel new emotions in relation to my gender identity. To gain a better understanding of what's going on. I referred to one of the greats: Plato! You see, about 1649 years ago, Big P wrote a Socratic dialogue called "Republic", This Socratic dialogue is his best known work, and possibly one of the most influential works of philosophy, period.
If you'll allow me to paraphrase Wikipedia a bit: In this allegory, Plato tells a story about some people who've spend their lives imprisoned in a cave. restrained in a manner so that they can only face a blank wall. Behind them lies a fire, Over the course of their lives, they can see the shadows of various objects cast on the wall from the fire. to them, these shadows are reality, it's how they understand the world around them. But their understanding is incomplete.
You see, When I was little, and was questioning my gender, I'd always dismiss it, because I was born a boy, that's all there is, and I was told that there's really no changing that. To me; living life as a boy was all there was, When i looked into what being trans meant, i was told that they feel like they were born in the wrong body. That they always feel a sense of unease in their own skin. Here's the problem, I'd never had any frame of reference to compare what dysphoria felt like to... not dysphoria. To me it was just... life. It was my reality, and my understanding it was incomplete.
Plato continues by suggesting what would happen if a prisoner was freed. And he viewed the fire. After being acclimated their whole life to only seeing shadows, the fire would be bright, so bright that the light would hurt his eyes. If told that what he was seeing was real. he wouldn't believe it. they'd run back and return to what reality they're accustomed to.
Now I've thought about my gender identity many times through my life, and though I'd seen some people trying to break the norm, but whenever i did see them, they weren't shown honestly, they were always framed as people being weird, or annoying. through. I didn't want to be weird or annoying, and when and so I'd return to what I'm accustomed to. I'd rationalize the thoughts away. When looking past the "weirdness" of it I'd notice that life as a woman is hard, Life as a trans person is worse, It's scary, and I don't want to go through that, So I rationalized the thoughts away. Then most recently, in the months leading up to now, I'd try to experiment with it, I'd try on femboy socks, Or a few voice training exercises to hear myself with a more feminine voice. When i did that though, i immediately thought "What if someone else sees me like this" and thus i got scared, and hid from it. The fire burned my eyes, and i wanted to return to the shadows.
Plato then suggests that if a person did decide to go through the hardship of leaving the cave, and then their eyes adjusted to the light they'd be able to see the world in a way they never could have imagined before. He'd view this world as superior, and decide to return to the cave to help the other prisoners. Only to find that when they return to the cave, they are blind, for their eyes had adjusted to the sun.
When I finally made the decision to honestly question my own gender identity, and see how it feels to explore it. I felt new things. I enjoyed picturing myself with a feminine body, And I get a nice feeling inside when I'm called by feminine pronouns. When i saw myself wearing feminine clothing, i felt what can be described as "Gender Euphoria." But after my eyes adjusted to the light, I couldn't see the shadows. After imagining myself with a feminine body, i began to notice a sad feeling when i saw my own body in the mirror. After being called feminine pronouns, suddenly being called away by a masculine name felt oddly "Icky." After seeing myself all dressed up feminine, hearing my own deep voice while in that outfit takes me out of it. It's not that i wasn't feeling these things before, I just had nothing to compare them to.
Plato finally suggests that the prisoners, seeing the man who freed himself being blind, would conclude that his journey outside the cave harmed him, and would thus conclude that nobody should undertake a similar journey, And would therefore reach out, and kill anyone who attempted to drag them out of the cave.
I was scared to accept me being trans when i was younger, because i was scared that it would mess me up, that i couldn't take it back and thus would always feel dysphoric, and would become blind. So i refused to accept it, It made me harbor some actual internalized transphobic sentiment, and set me back a great deal in terms of figuring this stuff out. I've said some stupid stuff I'm ashamed of in middle school because of this stuff, and I even made a stupid fucking pronoun joke as recently as last year that i feel really bad about now.
So what's the point?
I noticed that I could use the allegory of the cave to be an allegory to... Dysphoria? and i thought I'd sound smart if i made the comparison

What is this?
I encountered this online, but I want to know if this is a real thing or not, or just grifting/lols.
After reading some forum posts and a minor dive into the topic, I am still unconvinced that either the person posting is saying this without actually believing this, to whatever end. Or, that its a poor taste joke and leading people on. (Or, finally, a result of mental illness from whateber caused it - a kind of severe disassociation).
My reasoning: this is the penultimate dehumanizing, and objectification of a person, or one's self. Language constructed around talking about a living, breathing person as if they were an actual object or creature - can or should it be possible for a person, regardless of method, to remove or diminish personhood?
And, is this a step toward that possibility, given the current political climate and language used by major hate groups around the world?
I am trying to have an open mind, and would like to know more perspectives. These are just the points I keep thinking of that have yet to be answered to a satisfying degree, and I keep seeing these pronouns in the wild and - despite practicing as suggested - still feels... Immensely wrong to use; I feel as if I am using a slur or directly insulting them in the worst possible way, and the cognitive dissonance is flooring me.
Edit: regarding the mental illness portion: I did not mean that in a negative fashion. I mean to say that I am and was worried that it was a self-harm tactic and whether or not to enable that behavior if it was - as in certain circumstances this could get me into hot water or even legal issues - especially at my current job where I am a mandated reporter, and, I write reports on my clients as a part of my job.

The General Question Learning Method (GQLM) is a learning method that is done in a less systemic way than PQLM. GQLM 1 is done by asking yourself questions for every type of information you encounter. GQLM 2 is done by asking yourself questions for every type of information you feel like asking a question for. GQLM 1 ensures that most of the information is given the same amount of processing time. When you learn large amounts of information with GQLM 1, it will "cramp" the information in your mind which may cause some information to be not remembered and your mental state switching from a focused state to a tired state. To prevent this from happening, you should make sure to use GQLM 1 only when you are learning information from a book or a teacher that you can process easily. GQLM 1 may work well for processed information because the information is already familiar to you. GQLM 2 ensures that you do not get mentally tired from asking questions because you are not forced to ask questions for every type of information you encounter. GQLM 2 may cause you to remember less information, so other learning methods may be used for important information, such as test information. You can use GQLM 2 while learning information from a teacher if you are not fast enough at asking yourself questions during their class. Asking questions when you feel like it is called the "feel like effect".
The Partial Question Learning Method (PQLM) is a learning method that is done in a more systemic way than GQLM. PQLM ensures that the information asked as questions is remembered more easily than the information not asked as questions (Just reading the information). The Information closer to the information asked as questions is also remembered more easily than the information farther from the information asked as questions. PQLM is more effective when learning about complex information and information that has not been processed. Systemic PQLM is done by giving a "systemic number" or an "ask limit" to one or more types of questions. When you give a systemic number to a type of question, that question type's value starts at the systemic number and it decreases by 1 every time you let that type of question go unanswered. When the systemic number reaches 0, the next of that type of question will be asked and the systemic number will be reset back to its original starting value. When you give an ask limit to a type of question, that question type's value starts at 0 and it increases by 1 every time you ask that type of question. When you reach the ask limit, you will not be allowed to ask that type of question again until its value goes below the ask limit. A question type affected by an ask limit decreases its value every time you let it go unanswered. Wh- question PQLM is done by choosing one or more wh- questions (what, when, where, who, whom, which, whose, why, how) and asking questions only with those questions. You should make sure to choose the right questions when learning about something. For example, if you are learning in history class about what people did in the past, you can choose "what", "who", and "when" or you can choose only "who" and "when". Notice that the wh- question "what" is one of the most frequently asked questions, so choosing "what" will give you much more questions to ask yourself. Wh- question PQLM may look like GQLM 1, but it has slight differences depending on the wh- questions you choose.
The Reading Learning Method (RQLM) is a learning method that is done in a less "answer way" than GQLM and PQLM learning methods. If your mind answers the questions automatically, it still counts as RQLM 1 because RQLM 1 is about not focusing on answering the questions. This learning method may be useless to some people, but it has some advantages. When you only ask questions without answering them while studying, you can remember the questions after you finish studying and you can try to answer them based on the information you learned while using RQLM 1. Asking questions without answers to them is called the "no answer effect". Repeating RQLM is done by remembering a question or answer of the previous information you learned while reading the next part of that information. Category memory is when you think about a standard form combination or type combination and get reminded of the information that you learnt with that standard form combination or type combination.
When you start learning information, you will encounter simple information, complex information, and mixed information (simple and complex information). You can add a S, C, or M to your standard form combination or type combination to indicate when to use it. For example, standard form combination S GQLM 1.
You can also add question learning style letters. P for processing and NP for non processing. For example, standard form combination MP systemic PQLM switch to SNP GQLM 1. Notice the simple, complex, and mixed information letters go before the question learning style letters.
Complete and partial question/answer (CQLM 1):

• A complete question/answer is a sentence such as [question] "(when) (name of person) (action or event)?" and [answer] "(name of person) (action or event) (date)" of a person in history class.

Remember that these recommendations don't have to work for everyone. You can make your own combinations if you want to.
[Rules for combining types] 1.. The square brackets [ ] show the order for combining. For example, you first combine the types inside the smallest square bracket and then you start using the types outside of that bracket to change certain attributes of the types in the smallest square bracket. (Rule 12). 2.. The letter A (affector) is used for types that affect E or M types.Types in a double type combination can not be both affectors. 3.. The letter E (effector) is used for types that get affected by affector types. Types in a double type combination can be both Effectors. Being an effector type bring out the type's natural rules such as choose a number or choose wh- questions in double type combinations, but does not combine them. Two E types can be unusable if there is no A type next to them. Additionally, if every type in a combination is an E type, it can be a switch combination. Switch combinations represent what standard form combinations or type combinations you can switch while learning. 4.. When a type can be both an A and E type, the letter M (mixed) is used. M types can not affect A types, but they can affect E types and M types. 5.. When starting the combination process, you go from left to right. If an A type has an E type next to it, you will combine them both. If an A type has an A type next to it, that A type will "hop" over its A type neighbour and keep hopping over other A types until it finds an E or M type to combine with. 6.. The phrase (number) part time is used to indicate the target of a type (what type they want to combine with). The number starts at 0 in the position of the closest E or M type to the right of the type affected by part time, and it increases by 1 every time you reach another type to the right of it. You need to increase the value of the number to the number of the part time. 7.. Full time is used to indicate that a type's targets are every E or M type to its right. 8.. The symbol / is used to indicate "floors of combinations". When the / symbol is used, some types are sorted into (type)/ and /(type). There are two floors and it is behind the / and after the /. This symbol is used to lower the space required for combining. If a type doesn't have a / symbol and it has neighbor types with the / symbol, it affects them both if they can be targeted. 8.. The multiplication sign × indicates an added rule and the addition sign + and the subtraction sign − indicates adding or subtracting types. 9.. In very specific cases of combinations, there can be an object (OB) that you can either add or subtract to one or more types. A and M types can not affect objects. 10.. Letters are used to simplify the combination process. The letters A for affector, E for effector, M for mixed, and OB for object are added before type letters. Part time and full time are added before the letters A, E, M, and OB and are separated by a space. For example 2PT AG1. [Type letters] GQLM 1 = G1 GQLM 2 = G2 Systemic PQLM = SP Wh- question PQLM = WP (Number) part time = (number) PT Full time = FT 11.. The types outside of the smallest square bracket [ ] can affect attributes in different ways of the combined types in the smallest square bracket. They sometimes do not act the same like the types in the smallest square bracket. GQLM 1 = make something be asked all the time or remove something. Ex. [1PT AWP × AG1 [MSP × MWP × EG1]] = one or more wh- questions chosen by Wh- question PQLM can have their systemic number removed, making them asked all the time. I'm a 24 y/o trans man. I came out to immediate family when I was 19 and haven't asked anyone to call me by my correct name/pronouns because it will upset the peace. My parents were very hurt when I came out so I don't bring it up.
There's been a pattern of my parents controllingwhat happens to my body rather than me. Antidepressants at 13. Strict diet at 14 (low carbs, low calories, stomach injections, had to eat lunch alone in the school counselor's office). I stopped seeing a stylist my mom knew personally after asking for a 'boy haircut' and the stylist wouldn't go against my mom, who was embarrassed/angry. When I asked to wear a tie with my school uniform, my dad said only if I wore makeup. I still sucked my thumb at 12, and my parents had a dentist put in a device with a grid of metal wires against the roof of my mouth; every time I'd eat, pieces would get stuck between it and the top of my mouth. To my parents' credit they had this thing taken out pretty quickly. When I was 14-ish I stopped shaving my legs, so my dad would forcibly shave them with his electric razor and threaten to take my phone away if I refused.
My sister's wedding is today. Three days ago, I got a haircut. I'd known I wanted it short, so I texted my sister to ask if she was okay with that, which she was. My mom didn't want my hair too short though, and when I went to get the cut (from another stylist she knows), she said she hoped I would respect her wishes. The stylist did what my mom had told her, not me; my mom was the customer even though it was my hair. I left with a haircut that made me feel more like an object than a person.
For that day, and the next day, I stayed in my room at my parents' house and wouldn't show my hair. I know that sounds dramatic but I've experienced disrespect towards my body for years, and this haircut was feminine, which added dysphoria on top of it. My mom was worried, but my dad was angry. He accused me of wanting to 'make a statement' (about my gender) and make my sisters' big day about me.
Yesterday my mom and I had a talk about the pattern I explained and we both felt better after. I helped her set up at the venue and she said that I could get my hair touched up a little. But when my dad found out about that, he was really mad, called me to order me not to do it, and when I turned it into a three-way call with my mom who said she was okay with it, he said he didn't care and that I wasn't allowed to get it cut again.
When he got home he made the same accusations as before. I told him about the conversation with my mom and said that after the wedding he could be brought into that, but he demanded I explain everything right then. I didn't want to because I didn't trust him to listen or respect what I said without my mom there. I wouldn't get into it, and tried to tell him we should just make today about my sister, but he was disgusted with me and told me not to even bother coming to the wedding.

Hi! I've recently gotten interested in Gothic, and one thing I've been confused about is the proper word order for sentences. I keep feeling like there's a way I'm "supposed" to do it that I don't know about.
For instance, let's take this Magic: The Gathering card as an example of some text to be translated into Gothic: Name: Ancestral Recall Type: Instant Card text: Target player draws three cards.
There's not really a good term for "Ancestral" in Gothic, so I created one by combining fadrein with -isks to make fadrisks (please also tell me if this is the wrong way to go about things because I am new to this whole thing), and "Recall" can be translated to gamunds (remembrance). In this case, would fadrisks (or whatever word is actually supposed to be here if I am indeed not supposed to just go around combining words with the derivational suffixes to make new ones) be before gamunds, and why or why not? For the Type, I'm not totally sure how the literal translation of "Instant" into Gothic would work or if it would even make sense, so I'm thinking about combining hrusks (quick) with lubjaleisei (sorcery, witchcraft) to create something that means "quick-sorcery." This also depends on where the adjective goes in relation to the noun (and also whether or not I'm supposed to make new words by smashing two together).
For the actual card text, I translated the words as following: Target -> "chosen" -> gatēwida Player -> "fighter" -> weihān + āreis (once again, tell me if I'm doing this wrong) Draw -> "pull/drag" -> dragadau Three -> þreis Cards ~> "something that has writing on it" -> bōkōs And then, for a bit of clarity, I added in the implied "from their deck" that exists at the end of the card text, with those being From -> af Their -> is Deck ~> "something that contains the cards" -> bōkōs + kas (vessel; again, please tell me if this is the wrong way to go about things)
In Gothic grammar, where would all these words be in relation to each other? I've seen some example texts that have the pronoun like "thy" be after the object, which would make "from their deck" into "from deck their." I've also seen some examples that have the cardinal word before the noun it's modifying (i.e. þreis bōkōs), while others have had the cardinal after the noun (i.e. bōkōs þreis). What's the correct procedure for all this? How would you organize the sentence? Would its meaning change if the words were in a different position, and if so, how would its meaning change?

According to the Susanoo myths from the Kojiki and Nihon-shoki, Susanoo-no-Mikoto, having been exiled from Takamagahara, descended upon the province of Izumo and saved Kusanadahime by exterminating the enormous monster she was offered to as a sacrifice. That monster was a red-eyed apparition with eight heads and eight tails───a gigantic snake that boasted a length spanning eight valleys and eight peaks. It was Japan's greatest dragon of calamity.   Having defeated this large serpent (dragon), Susanoo-no-Mikoto obtained a divine sword from its tail. The sword's name was Kusanagi-no-Tachi. It was also known as Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi, Ama-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi, and Tsumugari-no-Tachi. They say it was later offered to the Atsuta Shrine and was designated as one of the Three Sacred Treasures of Japan.   This divine sword that was within her father, Yamato-no-Orochi's body is what Ibuki-douji uses as a Noble Phantasm. It is such a fearsome weapon that a single swing from it upon the release of its True Name can blow away eight valleys and eight peaks, and give birth to eight great rivers...however. Her behavior shows that she's studied what human beings could be like.   She even goes around trying to seduce and provoke others, including the Master. The Heroic Spirit Sherlock Holmes speculates that Ibuki-douji had either learned about modern society somewhere, or she met a Heroic Spirit who also got accustomed to modern society in a similar way, and then forcibly brought over those records by taking advantage of the uniqueness of Chaldea's summoning system. Nobody knows whether that is true or not, however.   When she gets serious, for example when releasing her Noble Phantasm's True Name, she seems to regress to behaving according to her original nature which is that of a "god/kami", but usually, she's enjoying herself as the carefree "snake big sis".   ◇   Also, when she's in her juvenile form (the Saint Graph of her first stage), she displays speech and conduct that is like a mix of "snake big sis Ibuki" and "Ibuki, the god/kami". When little Ibuki says that things will get dangerous if she molts, she is most probably referring to becoming "Ibuki, the god/kami".
○Motives and attitude towards the Master Normally, Ibuki-douji doesn't give much special attention to the Master that summons her. It's probably because her awareness of humans is too abnormal, what with viewing them as a collective whole instead of as separate individuals. If she became able to view them as individuals, her behavior towards them would also gradually change. If she ever grows interested in you, you must stay vigilant instead of rejoicing about that accomplishment. Her fingertips are that of a god, so even defensive magecraft against poisoning or poison resistance skills would be far from enough to protect you.   However... The Ibuki-douji that materialized in Chaldea behaves in an intimate way towards the Master. Strictly speaking, she behaves in a friendly manner with everyone. For her to properly recognize the Master as an individual, they would need to build a relationship that is deep enough for that. In that sense, as expected, one must make sure whether the normal Ibuki-douji's nature stems from her roots or not.   ◇   Completely different from her usual version, there are times when juvenile Ibuki-douji views her Master as "someone to be reared". It's as if she's treating her Master as a pet... Not like she's ever kept a pet before.
○During Hell Realm Mandala Heian-kyou She is manifested by Alter Ego Limbo aka Ashiya Douman as "Taisuishin", the last of his trump card known as the Eight Cavalry Summoning that he modeled after the Eight General Gods in Taoism. ○Character image Ibuki-douji. The alternate name of "Shuten-douji" who was from the base of Oumi's Mount Ibuki. Ibuki-douji, with her naturally inconceivable birth of having come into this world as a demon child, grew up in the mountains and eventually obtained fearsome and abnormal abilities. She moved to Mount Ooe where she became "Shuten-douji", the great monstrosity who descended on the capital and entertained herself with massacres and pillaging────   ◇   Some say she is the child of Mount Ibuki's Ibuki Daimyoujin (= Yamata-no-Orochi) and a human while others say she is the heaven-sent child of Mount Togakushi (= Kuzuryuu).^[1] Either way, she is the child of a dragon deity. With her current Saint Graph, her aspects as "the bunrei of Ibuki Daimyoujin, the child of Yamata-no-Orochi" are particularly emphasized and she has materialized as a Divine Spirit Servant. She hasn't died by any means; she lived on, having transformed into a different existence, a different aspect of herself. In other words, she became the great monstrosity "Shuten-douji" in both mind and body.   By connecting the testimonies together, it would appear that Ibuki-douji and Shuten-douji existed by alternating with each other at either fixed or uncertain intervals. "It's my (Ibuki's) turn now." "Next, it will be my (Shuten's) turn." Or so the order went────
○Connection to other Characters Shuten-douji They can not accurately recognize each other's existence. To Ibuki-douji, she is nothing more than "something she does not understand well". The same goes for Ibuki-douji from Shuten-douji's point of view. They don't even try to recognize the other as a version that could possibly exist. Ibuki-douji is not "Shuten-douji's former self" and Shuten-douji is not "Ibuki-douji's new self".
Mochizuki Chiyome An object of interest. If she harbors the curse of Ibuki Daimyoujin within her body then they are like relatives. (Ibuki treats her as a younger sister in her first ascension and as a relative's child in her second and third ascensions)
Quetzalcoatl / Medusa / Gorgon / Vritra / Kukulkan A serpent god from a foreign country.
Sakata Kintoki Smells good. Has a nice eye color. Has nice bones. Very interesting. She can feel the presence of a dragon.
Ibaraki-douji / Fuuma Koutarou / Tomoe Gozen / Kijo Koyou Oni. Oni can be often seen in the mountains. Very interesting.
Minamoto no Raikou An oni that is one yet not. Instead of interesting, she finds her suspicious. "Just what is that?" is her impression of Raikou.
Habetrot A mass of cuteness. They've been getting along since they traveled in Tunguska together.

Comment from Illustrator

First, I started with the image of "a tanned dragon lady" and when I suggested that it would be fun if she was around 3 meters tall at the meeting with TYPE-MOON-san, they gave me the OK right away. I wanted her forms to differ with each ascension so I drew the first ascension to give off the impression of being her juvenile form and her second and third ascensions to be the adult form. In particular, I designed the second ascension with the image of "a 3 meters tall big sis strolling through the shopping district downtown to look for snacks to eat while drinking". Also known as "the Calamity Lady of Downtown (Disaster Woman)"; having such a motif of her in my mind, I kept working on the design. An alcohol-loving and somewhat sloppy god of calamity is cute. TLDR version:
Wokeness is a problem because it allows idiots to try to deflect the conversation onto other topics or areas and try to draw pushes for change out longer to win by attrition or just scaring off potential opponents via calls for action against existing ones. It is a convenient shield too easily deployed and unfortunately effective (though growing less so with each use)
So I figured I'd write this because some people here might be able to use it as ammo in counter arguments and some of those hate viewing this sub might see it and realise their tactics aren't going to keep working.
So to start I'd better define what I mean by wokeness.
For me Wokeness is attempting to look progressive but without thinking things through or putting in actual work, example many race swaps where they end up actually becoming the supposedly harmful tropes progressive people have been claiming to rally against or just outright end up stupid or offensive. Actual examples for people without naming the properties:

• Race swap a character so she's now an very overtly sexual Indian girl (lesser known trope but fits into the exotic beauty trope along with tropes about Indian women)
• Race and gender swapping a character such that the character become a black female Nazi.
• Making the default skin for the frontline soldier class in the game a black man (South Park made a joke about this kind of thing years before and still a video game did it)

So why is wokeness a problem?
Well because some idiots who want to look progressive can't seem to analyse anything actually critically anymore or can and choose to ignore the issues for fear of being called bigots and potentially thrown under the bus (having been under that bus, I can see why people wouldn't want to but trust me you survive it and it's better on the other side of the bus) so will rush to defend anything.
In an attempt to "own the evil right wing gamers" or something a number of publications in the past rushed to declare how evil gamers were sending death threats to developers over EA™ Star Wars™ Battlefront™ 2, it went on for close to a week until of all sites (and link the non archive if this because they did good here) Jason Schrier then of Kotaku looked into it and revealed it was all made up by some-one larping on twitter pretending to be a developer at DICE.

People online on about "Oh it's stupid gamers care about wokeness and not [insert other issues in the industry]" first generally only bring those issues up as a distraction and second they often fall for corporate woke displays done to hide and distract from issues.
As an example of a bigger thing outside of gaming. You know the company that paid for "Fearless girl" that statue of a little girl facing the Wall Street Bull that feminists were fawning over and on about how it was all about female empowerment and anyone against it hated women? Yeh the company behind it had and lost a $5 Million sex discrimination lawsuit for paying women in the same job, in the same roles and same level less than men generally across the company.

But you'll find far more online about Fearless girl than the lawsuit. Far more push to make that the argument and focus and not the lawsuit happening at the time behind the scenes.
In video game examples. It seemed like every time Activision Blizzard was in trouble a character in Overwatch was revealed as gay / lesbian such that it became a joke. In Overwatch 2 where you have to basically pay for Heroes now, I've seen people on about how some new character has a non binary gender identity and that's why people don't like Overwatch 2, not the far higher skin prices, not the paying to unlock new heroes not apparently people don't hate it for those reasons according to the games defenders.
That's the worse part of wokeness though, even if people do bring up actual issues people can and will go "Oh you just hate Starfield due to the pronouns really, all the other stuff you brought up is an excuse you really only hate the pronouns" and it tries to drag the argument to being about elements people didn't mention.
So yes wokeness is a problem because it turns what should be a cut and dry "This stuff is bad, everyone would benefit without it" people vs corporations / corporate greed / poor quality output into protracted fights that put others off from joining because they don't want to be attacked and face going under the bus unless they already have been and generally requires overwhelming community voices to be heard over the games defenders and the so called journalists who are more than happy to echo whatever corporate line they're told to echo and so will help shift the focus normally to appeasing companies and framing objections to the material as bigots. To this day there are so called journalists who claim Mass Effect 3's ending controversy was just some cover for bigots who hated the gay characters in the game and that the ending was not a problem at all.
