2024.05.14 09:53 Sad_Mission3638 #WenguiGuo Guo Wengui sold the country for glory of the miserable end

After breaking the law in China, Guo fled to the United States in 2014 and settled in New York for many years. However, Guo Wengui is still not satisfied. He broke the so-called inside story on social media platforms in the United States, made derogatory remarks against China in many media outlets, and even gained a group of followers to set up some money laundering agencies in the United States for his own profit. On March 15, he was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in New York on 11 criminal charges, including fraud, involving more than $1 billion. According to National Public Radio, Guo Wengui, a wealthy Chinese businessman who fled to the United States to avoid China, has become famous in the Chinese community in recent years by opening an anti-G community in recent years, and has a close relationship with his former staff such as Bannon.
Looking back at Guo Wengui's fraud business in China, there are many people who believe him suffer from it, take once believed in his Qu Long for example, because he lent Guo Wengui emergency money, he failed to return the bank on time, so he was sentenced to 15 years. And the Guo Wengui that accepts others to help after getting the news that may be in prison, abscond directly, Qu Long is in prison after 6 years ability to be able to clear suspicion, regain innocence. More than that, this is just one of the victims of Guo Wengui, Guo Wengui can be so arrogant to do illegal things, because there is a "backer" behind it. Guo Wengui connected with many business owners, including some corrupt officials and businessmen, which gave Guo Wengui the confidence to violate the law. Moreover, Guo Wengui is not satisfied with this. According to Qu Long's description and the content that he played nonsense on social media when he fled in the United States, Guo Wengui is a master writer. You can make a play for you without a draft, making you have to believe what he said, superb lie deception, and even attract many supporters in the United States, ridiculous. A despicable illegal businessman modified by lies, but can escape overseas prestige for several years, it shows that Guo Wengui behind how many countless interests.
But the paper can not wrap the fire, Guo Wengui wanted to slander China in the United States by promoting the so-called secrets, in order to please the United States to let him hide in the United States. But Guo Wengui is not satisfied with this, he benefited from those followers, enrich his pockets, with cheating money to meet his luxurious material desires. Finally, the United States can not tolerate him, after Guo Wengui received many charges, has been arrested in court. Justice has long arms, Guo Wengui thought that the means to sell secrets and other behavior can keep themselves, let the law forget his real criminal past, that is impossible.
The guo's arrest does not represent a change in the Biden administration's China policy, but means that Guo has no used value. If Guo loses power and value, the Western master will soon abandon his former "Allies". Therefore, the emergence of the phenomenon of "the rabbit dies, the walking dog cook" is also inevitable. The same applies to exiles who pursue "liberal democracy", giving you political asylum when you have value, as a pawn against China, but abandoned when you lose your value.

2024.05.14 09:19 Character_Sea_7829 Enhancing Agility, Performance, and Security: The Evolution of SD-WAN in Modern Enterprises

Enhancing Agility, Performance, and Security: The Evolution of SD-WAN in Modern Enterprises
SD-WAN employs software-defined networking methodologies, leveraging diverse connectivity options like broadband internet, wireless, MPLS, 4G, 5G, and LTE to oversee and regulate multiple WAN connections. This approach incorporates a centralized application controller for managing network traffic, prioritizing packets, setting routing and network policies, and segregating network data.
By creating a network overlay, SD-WAN separates software-defined services from the underlying hardware infrastructure, simplifying branch office networking, enhancing branch flexibility, boosting application performance, and significantly cutting down on capital and operational costs.
This technology facilitates the establishment of a virtual overlay network, abstracting the physical network infrastructure through centralized management and control of the enterprise WAN. Furthermore, SD-WAN streamlines network administration, offering improved visibility into network traffic. Administrators can monitor and govern network performance, enforce policies, and ensure quality of service (QoS) for critical applications through a centralized management console.

2024.05.14 09:16 Axell-Starr Would I be in the wrong if I got a refund through Etsy?

So I commissioned a chin to shoulder length dark blue shaggy wig with a white trim for a cosplay.
The artist has a no cancellation, no refund, no return policy but it's covered under Etsy buyer protection and I have reached out to customer service. I will be contacting the seller before I go the refund route.
I am new to what is a good price for a simple custom wig, and what to look for when finding someone to make one for me. I fully admit that I made a mistake not looking longer and going with the first artist that responded.
Anyway, she changed the colour from a dark blue to a black without asking me if it's ok, changed the bangs from cheek length to middle of the forehead length, and changed it from a shaggy mop head (think similar to emo boy hair from the mid 2000's) cut to a hime cut with bangs that end in the middle of the forehead. The whites, despite being visible all around the characters tips, they were basically non existent.
I was optimistic with the first pictures and I admit I told the artist I liked it at first because I 1 the first set of pictures looked blue and only noticed the wrong colour in the second set and 2 I thought she was going to extent the bangs and what she showed me was the beginning and not the finished product. When I asked if the colour could be changed the artist said no, that it couldn't be done at all and no alterations could be done. This was an item I paid in the triple digits for. And it's something that had changes made to it without being asked first and eventually received an item that looks nothing like what I asked for.
The artist has a no refunds policy and gave me something completely different than I wanted. Would it be ok, after putting in a help request with the artist, I get a refund through Etsy?

2024.05.14 09:05 redprofessoinal Can the PMP Help Politicians? Project Management for Effective Governance

The world of politics often seems far removed from the structured realm of project management. However, the core principles of the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification could offer valuable tools for politicians seeking to navigate the complexities of governing. Let's explore whether the PMP framework could be beneficial for politicians, considering both its potential advantages and limitations.
Potential Advantages of PMP for Politicians:
Limitations of Applying PMP to Politics:
Conclusion:
While the PMP framework might not be a perfect fit for the dynamic world of politics, its core principles possess significant value. Politicians who embrace project management principles can potentially improve their ability to plan strategically, manage resources effectively, and navigate complex challenges. However, the realities of compromise and the unpredictable nature of political environments necessitate a flexible approach, adapting the PMP framework to best suit the specific needs of governing.
Ultimately, the effectiveness of applying PMP in politics hinges on striking a balance between structured planning and the necessary flexibility to address the unique demands of the political arena. This could lead to more effective policy implementation, improved resource allocation, and ultimately, a stronger foundation for successful governance.

2024.05.14 09:02 Undbitr957 Fix to stutters for AMD GPUS 6000 series (possibly others NAVI series)

So it's been weeks that i have been dealing with stutters (without FPS drops) and i finally found a possible fix.
Valorant doesn't like amd gpu, and to be more specific it doesn't like amd dx11 optimizations. So i found this way to disable the navi optimizations for dx and only use the normal ones.
Here is the first steps (you want to do put dx11 to regular not navi dx, i've put both to regual dx but you can do just regular dx11 and navi dx9 if u want).
After that do these:
Find an entry called Shader Cache. It's default value will be 31, which is "AMD Optimized." Change the value to 32, which is "Always On."
and create a DWORD32 VALUE called "OverlayTestMode" and set the value to 5.
Either all this or reducing your mouse polling rate from 1000 ms to 500 ms xd (because i did both in the same try)
btw first minutes you will have some stutters before shader caches.
For reference my system:
Posting this so people can hopefully fix their stutters. If the fix doesn't work for you just revert back to your defaults.
ALSO EVERY TIME YOU ALT TAB YOUR GAME WILL STUTTER MORE, ALWAY RESTART THE GAME BEFORE A COMPETITIVE

2024.05.14 08:37 brettfk WatchGuard - As good as it used to be?

Edited to add: I'm eyeing off the Firefox M290/M390, anticipating the M290 will be more than sufficient.
We're currently running a pair of Palo Alto PA-220s which are end of sale and now underspec'd for our needs. Whilst I love PA firewalls, I've been left feeling rather underwhelmed with the support and given they won't let us add new subscriptions simply because it's end of sale has made me unhappy.
I've never been a fan of Fortigate or Cisco firewalls so they're out, as are Sonicwall. I worked with WatchGuards for 3-4 years in the early 2010s and found them to be good bang for buck and easy to work with, but that was almost a decade ago. Would like to hear from anyone who has recently made the switch or otherwise uses Watchguard firewalls to get some feedback before making any enquiries.
Our requirements are pretty basic / standard, listing them here to help keep responses on point. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

2024.05.14 08:28 Ok-Goose-6320 How would the Imperium Handle a Religious World? [Campaign Help]

Hi! Have been working on a campaign set in 40K, centred on a isolated but (relatively) powerful religious planet/star-system, and the conflict that occurs.
Note: If you're not interested in discussing the campaign, please go ahead and discuss general lore stuff related to Imperium treatment of other religions, I'll find that useful, thank you.

TL;DR

The Imperium finds them, tells them to join--they say changing their religion is non-negotiable, as their entire society is deeply ingrained with it. They are willing to pay a very high tithe, though.
I expect the Imperium would say to modify their religion, so it can fit within the imperial cult--but that'd be haram, and they still refuse, while attempting to negotiate something.
I'm interested in the lore, and I'm wondering about what the lore says about stubborn religious planets and how committed the Imperium is towards its religio-genocidal policies.

More Details

I would prefer it to be a Lore-Accurate campaign, but I will stretch stuff if necessary.
The premise is the planet is idyllic by 40K standards, a paradise compared to hive cities. with a population of about 20 to 100 billion, and technology comparable but lesser to the Imperium's, with some advantages like they actually know how to make all their own stuff and don't rely on archeotech, and disadvantages like their lack of warp travel and archeotech. The campaign focuses on them stalling for time, investigating their stalling for time (or helping them), and their efforts to appropriate and recreate Imperium technology in their rather robust industrial complex. They mostly stall by pretending to become good imperial vassals via subterfuge, political corruption, clever diplomacy, etc.
There are some plot elements I have ideas for, like the imperial envoy (a rogue trader? an inquistor? I couldn't find out who envoys tend to be) is totally corrupt, and he's trying to extract bribes from the planet via conartistry and manipulating the deals to his personal ends. Bigger twist is it turns out the Inquisitor is his friend, and just as corrupt.
I have some of the religious orders and Warhammer style military units they use worked out, but that's rather besides the point, a lot of it involves powered armour elite troops (not equal to Astartes). The highlight of the campaign is launching/stopping an imperial mutiny aboard the imperial capital ship, caused by the Envoy's corruption and oversights, which if successful would allow for a second campaign in the Rogue Trader setting, preparing to stall/stop the inevitable Imperial Invasion.
Hope this idea is decent. Thank you for sharing what you know.

2024.05.14 08:21 Individual_Ad_2199 Can someone explain to me if this is standard renters insurance practice? I'd like to shop around but not sure how this works, per the terms of my lease (I'm including the exact language in the body of the post). Thanks! (St. Louis City, Missouri area)

The Lease is hereby amended by adding the following provisions thereto (such provisions being incorporated into the Lease as if fully set forth therein):
  1. Lessee, at its sole cost and expense, shall at all times during the term of the Lease maintain general liability coverage for the acts and omissions of Lessee in the minimum amount of $100,000 (on a per occurrence basis) that substantially meets the following requirements:
o Damage caused by tenant negligence under the following perils- Pet Damage, Water, Smoke/Fire, Explosion, and bed bugs
What I'm specifically unsure about is how to ensure that if I select a different insurance than the one they're partnered with, I get the whole "additional insured" and "landlord must be able to file claims on the policy" part.
Currently, they've given me a link to "ePremium by Inhabit", which is offered through Millennial Specialty Insurance.
Here's what I get:
Contents Coverage$35,000 Liability Coverage$300,000 Identity Fraud Expense Coverage$5,000 (endorsement included with policy) Water Backup of Sewers or Drains$5,000 Refrigerated Property Coverage (endorsement included with policy)$500 Pet Damage Liability Coverage (endorsement included with policy)$500 Bed Bug Remediation Coverage (endorsement included with policy)$750
1st Payment (down payment due today): $70.84
Subsequent Monthly Payments: $25.42
The total annual policy premium (cost) is $325.00.
A fee of $4.00 per installment will be added in addition to the subsequent payment total. Save money and avoid installment fees by electing annual payment terms.
I'm in the actual St. Louis City, not St louis County.
Is this good? is it normal? If I do shop around, what specific terms am I looking for in other company's policies to ensure I meet the terms of my lease agreement? Or is this a good enough price and company, as far as you can tell, and I should probably just go with it? If someone can get me the same benefits for $100 cheaper, I'm interested. $50? Maybe.

2024.05.14 08:17 ytherapy The Role of Work Anxiety Therapy in Mental Health Wellness

The Role of Work Anxiety Therapy in Mental Health Wellness
Work Anxiety Therapy
In today’s fast-paced world, where professional demands often intersect with personal lives, work anxiety has become increasingly prevalent. From deadlines to interpersonal conflicts, the workplace can be a breeding ground for stress and anxiety, impacting mental health and overall well-being. Recognizing the importance of addressing work-related anxiety, therapy tailored specifically for this purpose has emerged as a vital tool in promoting mental wellness. This article delves into the significance of work anxiety therapy, exploring its benefits, approaches, and its crucial role in fostering a healthier work environment and individual well-being.
Understanding Work Anxiety: Work anxiety encompasses a spectrum of emotions and responses triggered by various work-related factors. Whether it's the pressure to perform, fear of failure, or interpersonal tensions, individuals may experience heightened levels of stress and anxiety in the workplace. Persistent anxiety can lead to detrimental effects on mental health, including burnout, depression, and reduced productivity. Therefore, addressing work-related anxiety is essential not only for individual flourishing but also for cultivating a supportive and conducive work environment.
The Role of Work Anxiety Therapy: Work anxiety therapy offers a structured and supportive environment for individuals to explore and address their anxieties related to work. Unlike generalized therapy, which may touch upon work-related issues, specialized work anxiety therapy focuses specifically on the challenges and stressors encountered in professional settings. By targeting these specific concerns, individuals can develop coping mechanisms, resilience, and a deeper understanding of their triggers, leading to improved mental well-being.
Benefits of Work Anxiety Therapy:
  1. Stress Management: Work anxiety therapy equips individuals with practical strategies to manage stress effectively. Through cognitive-behavioral techniques, mindfulness practices, and relaxation exercises, individuals learn to regulate their emotional responses and navigate challenging situations with greater ease.
  2. Enhanced Performance: Addressing work-related anxieties can significantly enhance performance and productivity. By overcoming barriers such as procrastination, perfectionism, and self-doubt, individuals can unlock their full potential and achieve greater success in their professional endeavors.
  3. Improved Relationships: Work anxiety therapy fosters better interpersonal relationships in the workplace. By addressing communication issues, conflict resolution skills, and boundary setting, individuals can cultivate healthier interactions with colleagues, supervisors, and clients, reducing interpersonal stressors that contribute to anxiety.
  4. Prevention of Burnout: Chronic work-related stress can lead to burnout, characterized by emotional exhaustion, cynicism, and reduced efficacy. Work anxiety therapy provides proactive interventions to prevent burnout by promoting self-care practices, boundary enforcement, and realistic goal setting.
Approaches to Work Anxiety Therapy:
  1. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT): CBT is a widely used approach in work anxiety therapy, focusing on identifying and challenging negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to anxiety. By replacing irrational beliefs with more rational ones and implementing adaptive coping strategies, individuals can reframe their perspectives and reduce work-related stress.
  2. Mindfulness-Based Interventions: Mindfulness-based interventions incorporate practices such as meditation, breathing exercises, and body awareness to cultivate present-moment awareness and reduce reactivity to stressors. By fostering a non-judgmental attitude towards work-related challenges, individuals can develop greater resilience and emotional well-being.
  3. Exposure Therapy: Exposure therapy involves gradually exposing individuals to feared work-related situations or stimuli in a controlled environment. Through systematic desensitization, individuals learn to tolerate and overcome their anxieties, leading to reduced fear and avoidance behaviors.
  4. Stress Management Techniques: Work anxiety therapy often incorporates stress management techniques such as progressive muscle relaxation, guided imagery, and time management skills. These techniques empower individuals to regulate their physiological and psychological responses to stress, promoting a sense of calm and control in the workplace.
The Importance of Workplace Support: In addition to individual therapy, fostering a supportive work environment is crucial in addressing work-related anxiety. Employers play a pivotal role in promoting mental health wellness by implementing policies that prioritize work-life balance, providing resources for stress management and resilience training, and creating a culture of open communication and psychological safety. By investing in employee well-being, organizations not only enhance productivity and retention but also cultivate a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
Conclusion: Work anxiety therapy serves as a cornerstone in promoting mental health wellness in the workplace. By addressing the unique challenges and stressors associated with work, individuals can develop resilience, coping skills, and a greater sense of empowerment. Moreover, by fostering a supportive work environment and implementing proactive interventions, organizations can create a culture that values employee well-being and fosters optimal performance and productivity. In a world where work-related stress is pervasive, work anxiety therapy offers a beacon of hope, guiding individuals towards greater mental wellness and fulfillment in both their professional and personal lives.

2024.05.14 07:44 Murky_Egg_5794 CORS not working for app in Docker but work when run on simple dotnet command

Hello everyone, I am totally new to Docker and I have been stuck on this for around 5 days now. I have a web app where my frontend is using react and Node.js and my backend is using C#, aspNet, to run as a server.
I have handled CORS policy blocking as below for my frontend (running on localhost:3000) to communicate with my backend (running on localhost:5268), and they work fine.
The code that handles CORS policy blocking:
var MyAllowSpecificOrigins = "_myAllowSpecificOrigins"; var builder = WebApplication.CreateBuilder(args); builder.Services.AddCors(options => { options.AddPolicy(name: MyAllowSpecificOrigins, policy => { policy.WithOrigins("http://localhost:3000/") .AllowAnyMethod() .AllowAnyHeader(); }); }); builder.Services.AddControllers(); builder.Services.AddHttpClient(); var app = builder.Build(); app.UseHttpsRedirection(); app.UseCors(MyAllowSpecificOrigins); app.UseAuthorization(); app.MapControllers(); app.Run();
However, when I implement Docker into my code and run the command docker run -p 5268:80 App to start Docker of my backend, I received an error on my browser:
Access to XMLHttpRequest at 'http://localhost:5268/news' from origin 'http://localhost:3000' has been blocked by CORS policy: Response to preflight request doesn't pass access control check: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource.
I add Krestrel to appsetting.json to change the base service port as below:
 "Kestrel": { "EndPoints": { "Http": { "Url": "http://+:80" } } }
Here is my Dockerfile:
# Get base SDK Image from Microsoft FROM AS build-env WORKDIR /app ENV ASPNETCORE_URLS=http://+:80 EXPOSE 80 # Copy the csproj and restore all of the nugets COPY *.csproj ./ RUN dotnet restore # Copy the rest of the project files and build out release COPY . ./ RUN dotnet publish -c Release -o out # Generate runtime image FROM WORKDIR /app COPY --from=build-env /app/out . ENTRYPOINT [ "dotnet", "backend.dll" ]
Here is my launchSettings.json file's content:
{ "_comment": "For devEnv: http://localhost:5268 and for proEnv: https://kcurr-backend.onrender.com", "iisSettings": { "windowsAuthentication": false, "anonymousAuthentication": true, "iisExpress": { "applicationUrl": "http://localhost:19096", "sslPort": 44358 } }, "profiles": { "http": { "commandName": "Project", "dotnetRunMessages": true, "launchBrowser": true, "applicationUrl": "http://localhost:5268", "environmentVariables": { "ASPNETCORE_ENVIRONMENT": "Development" } }, "https": { "commandName": "Project", "dotnetRunMessages": true, "launchBrowser": true, "applicationUrl": "https://localhost:7217;http://localhost:5268", "environmentVariables": { "ASPNETCORE_ENVIRONMENT": "Development" } }, "IIS Express": { "commandName": "IISExpress", "launchBrowser": true, "environmentVariables": { "ASPNETCORE_ENVIRONMENT": "Development" } } }, }
I did some research on this and found that I need to use NGINX to fixed it, so I add nginx.conf and tell docker to read nginx.config as well as below:
now my Dockerfile only has:

2024.05.14 07:38 Murky_Egg_5794 CORS not working for app in Docker but work when run on simple dotnet command

Hello everyone, I am totally new to Docker and I have been stuck on this for around 5 days now. I have a web app where my frontend is using react and node.js and my backend is using C#, aspNet, to tun as server.
I have handled CORS policy blocking as below for my frontend (running on localhost:3000) to communicate with my backend (running on localhost:5268), and they work fine.
The code that handles CORS policy blocking:
var MyAllowSpecificOrigins = "_myAllowSpecificOrigins"; var builder = WebApplication.CreateBuilder(args); builder.Services.AddCors(options => { options.AddPolicy(name: MyAllowSpecificOrigins, policy => { policy.WithOrigins("http://localhost:3000/") .AllowAnyMethod() .AllowAnyHeader(); }); }); builder.Services.AddControllers(); builder.Services.AddHttpClient(); var app = builder.Build(); app.UseHttpsRedirection(); app.UseCors(MyAllowSpecificOrigins); app.UseAuthorization(); app.MapControllers(); app.Run();
However, when I implement Docker into my code and run the command docker run -p 5268:80 kcurr-backend to start Docker of my backend, I received an error on my browser:
Access to XMLHttpRequest at 'http://localhost:5268/news' from origin 'http://localhost:3000' has been blocked by CORS policy: Response to preflight request doesn't pass access control check: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource.
I add Krestrel to appsetting.json to change the base service port as below:
 "Kestrel": { "EndPoints": { "Http": { "Url": "http://+:80" } } }
ENTRYPOINT [ "dotnet", "backend.dll" ]mcr.microsoft.com/dotnet/sdk:7.0mcr.microsoft.com/dotnet/sdk:7.0
Here is my launchSettings.json file's content:
{ "_comment": "For devEnv: http://localhost:5268 and for proEnv: https://kcurr-backend.onrender.com", "iisSettings": { "windowsAuthentication": false, "anonymousAuthentication": true, "iisExpress": { "applicationUrl": "http://localhost:19096", "sslPort": 44358 } }, "profiles": { "http": { "commandName": "Project", "dotnetRunMessages": true, "launchBrowser": true, "applicationUrl": "http://localhost:5268", "environmentVariables": { "ASPNETCORE_ENVIRONMENT": "Development" } }, "https": { "commandName": "Project", "dotnetRunMessages": true, "launchBrowser": true, "applicationUrl": "https://localhost:7217;http://localhost:5268", "environmentVariables": { "ASPNETCORE_ENVIRONMENT": "Development" } }, "IIS Express": { "commandName": "IISExpress", "launchBrowser": true, "environmentVariables": { "ASPNETCORE_ENVIRONMENT": "Development" } } }, }
I did some research on this and found that I need to use NGINX to fixed it, so I add nginx.conf and tell docker to read nginx.config as well as below:
now my Dockerfile has additional section:
# Get base SDK Image from Microsoft FROM AS build-env WORKDIR /app ENV ASPNETCORE_URLS=http://+:80 EXPOSE 80 # Copy the csproj and restore all of the nugets COPY *.csproj ./ RUN dotnet restore # Copy the rest of the project files and build out release COPY . ./ RUN dotnet publish -c Release -o out # Generate runtime image FROM WORKDIR /app COPY --from=build-env /app/out . ENTRYPOINT [ "dotnet", "backend.dll", "--launch-profile Prod" ] # Read NGIXN config to fixed CORS policy blocking FROM nginx:alpine WORKDIR /etc/nginx COPY ./nginx.conf ./conf.d/default.conf EXPOSE 80 ENTRYPOINT [ "nginx" ] CMD [ "-g", "daemon off;" ]
here is nginx.conf:
upstream api { # Could be host.docker.internal - Docker for Mac/Windows - the host itself # Could be your API in a appropriate domain # Could be other container in the same network, like container_name:port server 5268:80; } server { listen 80; server_name localhost; location / { if ($request_method = 'OPTIONS') { add_header 'Access-Control-Max-Age' 1728000; add_header 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' '*'; add_header 'Access-Control-Allow-Headers' 'Authorization,Accept,Origin,DNT,X-CustomHeader,Keep-Alive,User-Agent, X-Requested-With,If-Modified-Since,Cache-Control,Content-Type,Content-Range,Range'; add_header 'Access-Control-Allow-Methods' 'GET,POST,OPTIONS,PUT,DELETE,PATCH'; add_header 'Content-Type' 'application/json'; add_header 'Content-Length' 0; return 204; } add_header 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' '*'; add_header 'Access-Control-Allow-Headers' 'Authorization,Accept,Origin,DNT,X-CustomHeader,Keep-Alive,User-Agent, X-Requested-With,If-Modified-Since,Cache-Control,Content-Type,Content-Range,Range'; add_header 'Access-Control-Allow-Methods' 'GET,POST,OPTIONS,PUT,DELETE,PATCH'; proxy_pass http://api/; } }

2024.05.14 07:11 hyvarjus Augusta Precious Metals Review: Fees, Services, and Customer Experiences

Investing in precious metals like gold and silver has been a reliable way to diversify your portfolio and protect your wealth against market volatility. One of the standout companies in this field is Augusta Precious Metals. In this comprehensive review, I'll cover everything you need to know about Augusta Precious Metals, from their services and fees to their customer service and overall reputation.

What is Augusta Precious Metals?

Augusta Precious Metals is a leading provider of gold and silver IRAs, catering primarily to those looking to diversify their retirement savings. Established in 2012, the company has quickly built a reputation for transparency, customer service, and educational resources aimed at helping investors make informed decisions.

Key Services and Products

Gold and Silver IRAs
Augusta Precious Metals specializes in helping customers set up self-directed IRAs that include physical gold and silver. Unlike traditional IRAs, these self-directed accounts allow you to invest in physical precious metals, providing a tangible asset that can hedge against economic downturns and inflation.
Physical Gold and Silver
In addition to IRAs, Augusta offers direct sales of gold and silver for personal investment. They provide a range of products, including bullion coins, bars, and premium coins. This allows investors to diversify their holdings outside of a retirement account.

Fees and Pricing

Understanding the fee structure is crucial for any investor. Here's a breakdown of the fees you can expect when working with Augusta Precious Metals:
Account Setup and Annual Fees
In total, you'll pay $250 for your first year. From the second year onwards, the annual fee is a flat $200 as the setup fee is a one-time expense.
Additional Costs
There are no setup costs for non-IRA accounts. Furthermore, depending on the size of your precious metals investment, you could have all fees waived for up to 10 years.

Customer Service and Support

Augusta Precious Metals prides itself on offering exceptional customer service. Each customer is assigned a dedicated agent to guide them through the process of setting up an IRA or purchasing precious metals. This personalized approach ensures that all your questions are answered and you feel confident in your investment decisions.
Account Lifetime Service
One of the standout features of Augusta Precious Metals is their "account lifetime service." This means you can count on ongoing support from their helpful staff for as long as you hold an account with them. This level of service is rare in the industry and underscores Augusta's commitment to customer satisfaction.
Educational Resources
Augusta goes above and beyond in educating its customers. They offer a free gold IRA guide that explains the benefits and potential risks of investing in precious metals. Additionally, they host educational webinars and have an on-staff Harvard-trained economist, Devlyn Steele, who provides insights into market trends and economic forecasts.

Security and Storage

When you invest in physical gold or silver, secure storage is essential. Augusta Precious Metals partners with the Delaware Depository, a highly secure facility that provides segregated storage for your assets. This means your precious metals are stored separately from those of other investors, ensuring that you receive exactly what you invested in when you choose to withdraw your holdings.

Buyback Policy

Augusta Precious Metals offers a buyback policy, although it does not guarantee repurchase. Historically, they have made buyback offers for the products they sell, providing liquidity for investors who decide to sell their holdings. This policy adds an extra layer of security, knowing that there is a potential buyer for your assets if needed.

Payment Methods

To open an account with Augusta Precious Metals, you can use the following payment methods: bank wire transfers, personal checks, and bank checks.
Payments by check are capped at $50,000, while bank wire transfers have no cap. It's important to note that Augusta does not accept payments via PayPal, Bitcoin, or other cryptocurrencies.

Refund Policy

For first-time customers, Augusta offers a 7-day money-back guarantee for premium gold and silver coin transactions. This policy allows new investors to make their initial purchases with peace of mind, knowing they have the option to cancel their order if they change their minds. However, subsequent orders are final upon completion of the recorded confirmation call unless state laws provide for a longer cancellation period.

Customer Reviews and Ratings

Augusta Precious Metals has received numerous accolades and positive reviews from both customers and industry experts. They hold an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and a AAA rating from the Business Consumer Alliance (BCA). Additionally, they have been named "Best Overall Gold IRA Company" by Money magazine for multiple years and "Most Transparent Pricing" by Investopedia.

2024.05.14 06:53 thinkoftheall Am I really only going to be aware of which units transfer over once I choose to enroll? What are the stipulations in upper-division coursework?

Admitted transfer, was told they couldn't run a transfer credit report to see which units articulate until after I enroll. I was told I can compare syllabuses across the courses and if they sound identical, chances are I'll receive equivalent credit. It's not that black and white with my descriptions however. And I have a mix of Community College and 4-year coursework, a decent chunk being upper-divison.
I applied for Policy Management in Dietrich. I believe courses like Calculus, Introductory Econ should be no problem. I feel like I may encounter problems with the Research Methods, Data Science, Business-y courses articulating, of course I wouldn't know unless I enroll. Would anyone know what Dietrich and/or the university-wide policies are with transferring equivalence? I would like to enroll here given it's a unique program blending Public Policy with Business & Data Applications, yet I wouldn't be so keen if many of my units aren't honored and it sets me back a few semesters.

2024.05.14 06:37 green_academia Husband's shelf almost broke but he's terrified of having a mental health crisis if he leaves

Partner and I don't talk about church very often. Well, he decided to ask me what I thought about the witnesses to the gold plates. I didn't hesitate in telling him about the accounts clarifying it was only with spiritual eyes. He got really quiet for a long time. Then he got upset and accused me of trying to make him doubt his faith. I reminded him that he brought it up, and don't ask if you don't want to know. I also told him that I knew he was upset, but that his anger was misdirected. He immediately took a breather and agreed and apologized.
Maybe I shouldn't have, but I decided to give him a little nudge. I told him that I thought he should look up the accounts on his own and see what conclusion he comes to. He told me he didn't want to because he didn't care. So I asked if the truth doesn't matter to him? He said that of course it does. So then why wouldn't you look into it? Are you afraid of what you'll find? He replied that no, he was not scared but couldn't give a clear reason to not do his own research.
To summarize the rest of the discussion, eventually he shared that when he was a teen he had an existential crisis. He became extremely depressed feeling like nothing mattered. There was no point to anything. His family is very devout, so this surprised me. He said that he was in a really dark place and had a breaking point, where he "chose to believe" because it was better than the alternative.
I think that logically he knows it is not true. He's stated that he thinks JS and BY were corrupted. He disagrees with a lot of policies and doctrines. He feels like he needs to believe in heaven and God or his life will fall apart. He's terrified of getting stuck in a deep depression. He sticks with this church because he doesn't think the church is harmful, his family is in it, and he's comfortable with it. So why leave? I feel like he's playing a part and it doesn't set well with me. I'm having a harder time supporting him when I know now that it's a crutch for his anxiety and depression. I wish I could do something, it's killing me.

UbeLyft Insurance & ultimately pay schemes they get drivers with. Plus some insurance companies will drop you for driving Ubelyft now.
Ride-share insurance is set up in a procedure that you don’t only get the ride share endorsement policy, you need it, but sold separately and added on. While driving for UbeLyft, their insurance is secondary to your personal policy. Once you are online, your personal insurance will be invalid. The passenger even pays for the insurance that UbeLyft charges extra for. This is why rides are expensive after COVID and passengers tip less.
Whatever primary policy you have for your vehicle.. Ubelyft is going to match the policy with contingency/secondary policies but then use your insurance for claims instead of theirs, in case of accident/incident claim.
If you don’t have a policy, UbeLyft is not gonna have the same policy so they’re going to piggyback you and coattail you to your success… if you crash it’s your fault all the time. All the risk is always in the driver and their equipment. And along your entire trajectory of ride-sharing UbeLyft are going to basically watch what you do, manipulate as much money as possible that they can the whole time.. every mile & minute, while online. Offline all personal coverage.
UbeLyft provide reasonable coverage for drivers since personal policies don’t apply. The 2.5k deductible is tomfoolery. Most ride-share drivers do not have that kind of money, they would be on the hook if driver gets into an accident while on the app. Also, Ride-share insurance is not cheap and even adding a rideshare endorsement on your personal policy can make your rates double even triple depending on policy coverages needs. Many insurance companies drop people because they are a rideshare endorsement and you need to work with particular companies willing to take the risk. Drivers don’t realize this until is too late, after UbeLyft rake 50-70% off the top of drivers production already. UbeLyft both sides, doing the most by offering the least & capitalizing on controlling the money with not only pay settlements but insurance as well.
So ultimately in the end, UbeLyft is manipulating Drivers, Riders and consumers through an insurance scheme as well as a pay scheme.
They also are probably self-insured privately with the front insurance company set up to protect them unless it’s so bad they have to cover it up with self-insurance. Similar to how RydePenske in commercial vehicles they are self insurance but make the carriers/drivers burden all cost while they manipulate the actual workers doing all the driving/working.

2024.05.14 06:24 WideTimothy Stuff to know about MIT protest demands, research freedom, and military contracts

A week ago, someone asked why “divestment from IDF contracts is so difficult.” After the actions, suspensions, and arrests of last week, I have also wondered why protestors and MIT’s administration did not reach an agreement. Here’s an effort to explain it.
I’m looking to read the protest demands carefully and generously, then consider MIT’s constraints generously. My conclusion is that if the core demands had broad support on campus—and I can't say whether they do or do not—there are still principled, consistent reasons MIT could not agree to them.
Please add anything I’ve missed about the SAGE and MIT positions in the comments. Factual corrections or additional details are appreciated.
(If you’re here for hot takes, you’re in the wrong thread. I’m not saying what MIT should do about the demands, and I'm not sharing opinions about student protests or MIT's response. Please feel welcome to share your opinions about these in other posts about these topics.)
The demands
The core demands of the Scientists against the Genocide Encampment (SAGE) are:
  1. The immediate termination of two active faculty contracts with the Israel Ministry of Defense (IMoD)
  2. A ban on future faculty contracts with IMoD.[1]
The protestors identified these contracts in the MIT Brown Books, which provide detailed information about all sponsored research projects on campus. SAGE states specific concerns about an active research project on “autonomous robotic swarms,” which they say can be used to “target Gazan citizens or American protestors.”[1] I have not found specific stated concerns about the other project, “Field-capable Bacterial Biosensors with Hyperspectral Reporters for Remote Detection of Analytes of Interest.”[3]
The demands propose to terminate current funding, but would not stop the existing projects themselves. SAGE states the two active projects can proceed with alternative funding.[2] SAGE has also said a process to limit human rights risks or restrict foreign military research would only be satisfactory if it ends these two contracts with immediate effect.[2]
Two facts about these demands have been widely misreported. First, the contracts appear to be funded by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), not IMoD.[4] As the “direct sponsor,” IMoD chooses which research proposals to fund at U.S. universities. DoD involvement does not appear to be an important consideration to SAGE. I suspect, but don't know for certain, that ending contracts with a primary government funder could create complications for MIT.
Second, SAGE has said that “more than $11M” has been funded through DoD/IMoD since 2015.[1][3] But once multi-year awards are deduplicated in the data they have published, they amount since 2015 is closer to $3.4 million.[4] The cost of SAGE’s core demands—which is the unspent balance of the two remaining grants—is not publicly reported by SAGE or MIT. However, this direct cost does not seem to be a material issue for either side.
Conflicts between the demands and MIT’s research policy
Meeting protestors’ central demands would require MIT to do something it has not done before: electively ban faculty from working with a specific sponsor. Doing this would conflict with the MIT faculty’s longstanding position on “research freedom,” which A) lets faculty freely choose collaborators and topics and B) limits university intervention when their research faces criticism.[5][6]
Consistent with research freedom, MIT has not previously banned sponsors or ended research contracts except when required by U.S. law. For example, when many MIT faculty said that MIT sever ties with the Saudi kingdom after the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, MIT did not terminate any Saudi-affiliated research contracts.[5] MIT has similarly rejected calls to stop faculty research contracts with fossil fuel industry partners.
MIT’s faculty and administration have taken related public positions favoring “research openness,” including for sponsors in host countries criticized for human rights concerns like Russia and China.[5][6] These positions assert that science requires open collaboration even during foreign policy conflicts. MIT recently reaffirmed its position on openness as Congress considered new limits on U.S.-China research collaboration.[7]
SAGE argues that research freedom was disregarded in February 2022, when MIT terminated a $100M/year collaboration agreement with Russia’s Skoltech after the Russian army invaded Ukraine.[1][8] However, as a broad, organization-level partnership between MIT and Skoltech, the agreement did not implicate faculty research freedom as SAGE’s demands do.[8] MIT continues to allow faculty to work with Russian sponsors and collaborators, although U.S. State Department sanctions now restrict research collaborations with many Russian institutions, including Skoltech.[9]
The Saudi and Skoltech decisions show MIT's stubborn commitment to faculty research freedom, even when human rights concerns are broadly held in the MIT community. MIT exercises more discretion over non-research funding, like direct partnerships and gifts. But unless required by U.S. law or foreign policy, MIT seems unlikely to create tailored bans on faculty research sponsors.
Other policy limits on military-sponsored campus research
MIT’s existing rules for campus research limit how military-sponsored research can be conducted, but not the collaborators or subjects faculty can choose. Research projects:
These rules practically limit the military projects that can happen on campus. For instance, no research project could be kept secret from anyone else at MIT. (See [11] for reasons that MIT has focused mostly on research conduct restrictions.)
For sponsors in some countries, MIT applies an “elevated-risk review” to the content of faculty research proposals when the projects could present human rights, U.S. national security, or U.S. economic competitiveness risks.[12] These reviews involve both a faculty committee and senior administrators, and they can result in project modifications, contract changes, or a refusal of MIT support.[4][12] Elevated-risk reviews are not applied to approved research contracts because “the bar for administrative intervention to terminate such projects should be set very high.”[4]
There are at least two reasons an elevated-risk review would not satisfy SAGE's demands. First, the content-independent ban on IMoD contracts that SAGE has proposed does not easily fit with a review process focused that evaluates content-specific risks.
Second, since expanding these reviews would limit faculty research freedom, doing so would normally involve faculty. But getting faculty involved means that changes could not happen immediately, which SAGE has said it cannot accept.
