So, the encampment has been here for three days now, and as a student at WWU who supports them but hasn't joined them, I have some issues with them as a student who is studying social movements and how they can succeed.
First of all, they have to take into account the people who were alive to witness 9/11, and how people covered head to toe in Keffiyehs don't send the right message. People covered in Keffiyehs to the average American who was alive during 9/11 look like terrorists. I will be the first to admit that this is Islamophobic, but you can't change the psychology of Americans just by pointing out that that sort of thinking is Islamophobic.
Successful movements have to be aware of these psychological triggers and they have to work within them. Social Media can be an extremely effective tool for their movement, but to use it effectively, they have to realize that the optics of their movement are just as important as their cause. Right now, the optics of their movement aren't good. People can stereotype them as a bunch of blue haired people, cosplaying as terrorists and screaming about dead babies.
Second of all, I have some thoughts on how to fix these issues. Get rid of the encampment entirely. Get rid of the head-to-toe Keffiyeh look, but do keep them around their necks. Dye their hair more colors, like a rainbow, and get some cheap baby strollers from the local baby supplies store (or maybe Amazon if they're willing to break the BDS checklist). These strollers will be their key element. Also, change their chants from angry, antagonistic talking points to singing. This Land is your Land by Woody Guthrie as an example, would be extremely powerful. Next, march down the street with those empty strollers, with the Keffiyehs around their necks, with their rainbow hair, and stand in front of the police if they do come. It'll look like a color revolution. Don't antagonize the police, just stand proudly in front of them. The police in their black SWAT gear teargassing and beating up people with strollers and rainbow hair won't be a good look for them.
Last, and most importantly, for a movement that supposedly is against elitism, their movement is behaving like a members-only club. They must get more flags involved, the Israeli flag would be a good one, the Ukrainian and American flags maybe, hell maybe even the Iranian flag before the Islamic revolution.
If they get more flags involved, they're telling people that they don't care about your religion, they don't care about your ethnicity or your race, they don't care if you're a right-leaning person, a left-leaning person, or a centrist, they want ALL Americans to join them. If they get the Israeli flag in, they'll be able to neutralize the people who are saying that they're antisemitic, H-group sympathizers. If they get the American flag in, they'll be able to tell people that they aren't anti-American. If they get the Iranian flag in, they'll be able to tell people that they stand with the Iranian women who are currently being killed by the Islamic Republic and that they stand against the Islamic Republic itself.

Why do I want refund? I never received any calls. I never received the order. Basically I paid 4K for nothing. Air.
I get calls back to back and one message a few days ago saying I have one of Your H&M parcels. I get scared I don’t pick up. I ask “HOW?” Get No reply.

How do they claim proof of delivery? - I was never called - I never picked up if I was ever called - There were no instructions which said leave it at the door - I live alone nobody else can receive it -If they threw it at the door it’s possible someone stole what happens in that scenario is H&M still liable

A friend of mine is looking for a new hosting solution. He currently has about 3-4 websites running on a shared hosting platform at TransIP (Dutch hosting). Some of these sites are quite heavily visited and might need some extra performance.
I told him to look at a VPS but he doesn’t want the responsibility to manage and secure his environemt. I’ve pointed him to Cloudways but he pointed me to the Managed Servers at Hetzner: https://www.hetzner.com/managed-serve
Does anyone have experience with these managed servers, the quality of the service and such? It seems like a really good deal. Netcup also seems to have similar priced managed servers.
Is there a catch? Or are we both missing something?

I know I see things differently that most regulars here. To me the one piece of evidence that proves to me she (AT A MINIMUM) was aware it was happening is the message she deleted the morning of the murder to Charlie ‘this is so sweet’. Why would she have deleted that message? When Cappleman asked her about it, her answer was “I always delete my messages”. I can partially buy she has or had a habit of deleting messages, but it’s way too curious to me that she deleted that specific message that day. She was rushing all over town and had a full schedule and although possible, it doesn’t seem reasonable to me that had she been completely in the dark, she would have deleted that message that day.
Here is how I dissect this:
They imaged her phone at the police station, so obviously that message was deleted PRIOR to her police interview. If she left that message that AM and deleted it before the interview, she was covering her tracks and making sure her fingerprints weren’t anywhere to be found because she had a feeling (rightly so) that the message she left Charlie was potentially something she’d might have to answer to. Little did she know that deleting it made it FAR worse. Had she not deleted it, based on content of the message, it’s still not a good look, BUT the fact that she deleted it is what leads me to believe we can draw a VERY reasonable conclusion that PRIOR to the police interview she was already aware and making sure nothing pointed back to her – whether she was directly involved or not. In my book, we can draw a reasonable conclusion that it shows she was aware.
Obviously we can’t say for sure that her message was specifically in response to the plan to murder Dan, maybe something else was ‘sweet’ – even so, the fact she deleted the message, regardless of what was ‘so sweet’, is the KEY. Although, in my opinion, I believe it proves she was aware, it still doesn’t prove she was involved. IMO, that state is 100% sure Wendi was aware and 100% sure she lied through her teeth in her police interview. I am just not convinced that the state is 100% sure she was directly involved. For those that are going to interpret this as me defending Wendi because I’m saying it doesn’t prove she was involved or the state may not be 100% convinced, I really don’t know what to say to you. When I analyze all the evidence, I think it’s very possible she was aware but not involved. That’s my honest take. If she was involved, I pray to God they find evidence on those confiscated IOS devices that remove any and all doubt.

Hey everyone, I’m making this post and comment below just as a factual recount of my journey selling my childhood collection over the past few months, in case it is helpful to anyone now or later. Sorry for the long post - I’m a numbers guy and this kind of stuff is very interesting to me, so I’m recounting it in detail.
My collection was mostly Base Set Pokemon, some shadowless, some random Topps, and a few cards from Expedition and the Neo collections (I stopped collecting roughly right when those cards released). I had a total of 374 cards. Almost all were LP - a few NM, a few MP. None were graded. I took good care of them and always had them in a binder. My “best” card was a damaged shadowless Charizard that a friend gave to me before he threw away his collection when we were, like, 10 years old (I estimated this card’s value at $325).
Thanks to this forum for guiding me to TCGplayer when I found my old stash and looked to sell it. I priced every single card, even the stupid Ratattas and Weedles, based on NM/LP/MP/damaged (because I am very type A/OCD!) using TCGplayer and came to a value of $1,614.63. I would argue there was roughly +/- $150 from that estimate based on condition.
I already have experience selling collectibles and had a good amount of feedback as an eBay seller from auctioning off other items, namely complete Lego sets and vintage Hot Wheels Redlines/Matchbox cars. I didn’t feel like making a new account on TCGplayer, Mercari, or any other retailing site because I am lazy. I didn’t cross-post anything or try FB marketplace. I strictly went with eBay to see what would happen. High value cards were listed individually. Bulk was separated by collection and listed in lots. I listed all cards at auction/OBO within a few dollars of what they were worth. My rule of thumb - 4 weeks of auctions at the price I want it to sell for; after 4 weeks, I cut the price by 25%; after 4 more weeks, I cut the price by another 25%; and after 4 more weeks, I list the item at $0.99+shipping and see what happens. Other people may have better methods or more patience, but I eventually get tired of selling things/seeing the clutter everywhere in the house and want it gone.
Out of 374 cards, I only sold TWO at a price over my initial expectations (thanks Gengar and Blastoise!). 37 sold at asking price. 335 sold below my expectations. I received hundreds of direct messages with radically lowball offers (I set my listings to automatically reject offers that don’t meet an 85% threshold, people still messaged me to ask when their offers were auto-rejected) - my favorite was someone asking if I would sell a shadowless Charizard for $50. I assume they were mostly kids/teenagers, but it was annoying AF. I’ve never experienced that with buyers of other collectibles - usually the price is what it is: set by the market +/- 10% based on the condition/interaction and that’s that. I eventually had to go back and modify all my listings to replace the OBO with Buy It Now to stop the madness. The Charizard sold for $315 plus shipping.
Anyway, total sale cost of everything (including shipping costs) was $1,017.32. The shipping costs/eBay fees accounted for 22.0% of total sale costs, leaving me with $793.42 (49.13% of the expected value) at the end of the day. Granted, I’ll never complain about an extra $793 that I didn’t have before, but a few things:

• I spent approximately 26.5 hours researching, pricing, snapping photos, listing, dealing with buyers, re-listing, modifying listings, and packaging these cards over the course of 16 weeks. This process took longer for me because I was unfamiliar with the market and had to do a lot of research and pricing. You all would probably fare better, but there is inherently a lot of time in managing listings.
• Assuming a price of $4/pack of 11 cards back in 1999, the collection cost me $136 in 1999 US dollars. Inflated to 2024, the cost of the collection is roughly $260, so a profit was made albeit not what was expected.
• Just for fun: $793 (sold price) minus $260 (cost price) = $533 divided by 26.5 hours of work = $20.11/hour. This is below my current working/salary rate.
• Annualized ROI of $136 in 1999 to $793 in 2024 gives a 7.29% annual rate of return. Not bad, but not phenomenal compared to other markets.
• Selling these was grueling. Hundreds of listings were active over several weeks. Collectibles are never “liquid assets” but these were the least liquid asset I’ve ever sold. Usually I do my research, set my prices, and my stuff sells within 2 weeks with haggling on maybe 10% of items. This took 2 months and things really only sold because I dropped them to $0.99 and walked away. I could see this taking years if you were holding out for a certain dollar amount on a particular card.

Hello, I need some advice.
We had two pairs of rats, we planned to keep them together but they didn’t get along. Now we lost two of them, leaving two individual rats and of course I know it’s not good to keep them alone. The main problem is pebbles, who is really quite aggressive. He also attacked the other two rats when we tried to introduce them, which is why we’ve been keeping them separated. I am planning on getting him castrated now. So my questions are: - how good are the chances that it will help with his aggression? - do you think there is a chance that after the procedure we can put the two rats together? (The other one is the nicest boy in the world, he wouldn’t attack pebbles) or should we find the other rat a new home either way? - if we could try to put them together, how soon after the operation could we try? Obviously don’t want to risk pebble‘s recovery but also don’t want to keep the rats living on their own for too long. - if we can’t keep them together we would rehome the other rat, what would you do with pebbles though? He will have a huge cage by himself, but currently we can’t really play with him as he just gets angry and if we open the cage to let him free roam he just guards the cage door like a maniac and has no interest in coming out and exploring…
I know this situation is not ideal, which is why I’m looking for advice. Any ideas or experience are welcome!

I'm obsessed with my ex and her girlfriend. In like 5th grade me and her used to good friends, and I always found her interesting. We were good friends and she trusted me. And I was happy to be friends with her. But now my ex is dating her for over 1.5 years. And we broke up 1.5 years ago. And it didn't even take him days to go after her. I wanted to be friends with her but I couldn't, and they both were friends with each other.
But at that time, I had him. He was my boyfriend. And we were eachothers first proper relationship. We went out for about 6 months and I broke up with him around the 8 th month. I'm saying that because, we had a on and off relationship. And I was in a very toxic place with him. He used to send me hate messages, and he would state the things that he hates about me and even abuse him. But I still wanted him, because well I unconditionally loved him ( I know I was an idiot)
My ex had a dark past, he was raped by his neighbour repaditly when he was a kid to when he was 17 years old. He used to cry and I would consule him, he even tried to take his life multiple times but I stopped him everytime. Me and him, we were both depressed as fuck, like we both were on the werge of dying and kill ourselves but then we found eachother. And that's how we became friends to best friends to inseparable couple.
I grew up in a very toxic household. My own mother was abusive, she would hurt me physically and emotionally alot. It was every days seen. She once hit me so hard that I thought I was going to pass out. And the reason she hit me so much for that day was pointless.
I grew up with a absent father who used to hit me whenever he felt like it. He once hit me so bad when I was in like 6th grade that my whole mouth was broken. I was bleeding so much from my mouth and my nose. He didn't ever wanted a daughter, he only wanted a son. But I was the firstborn girl.
I still remember that when I was like 8 or 9 years old, my dad has just came home and I was watching cartoons. And he asked me for the remote and I said no, I'm watching cartoon. He slapped me so hard that my ear was bleeding all night and I remember being in the doctor's chair and there was alot of clotted blood in my ear. I was crying in pain all the night, he didn't even checked on me and continued to sleep.
I was bullied alot throughout my school life. I was never really good at studies so I was hit my all my teachers in front of everyone all the time and they just used to laugh at me. In 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th grade. I remember this and this humiliation still haunts me, I got really bad grades and all my classmates who I thought were my friends, took trash out of the dustbin and whatever they had like paper pieces and leaves and ofc trash. They dumped all of it on my and they were pointing and laughing. I wanted to cry my heart out, I wanted to scream so bad, but I instead was thrown out of the group on the school field and nobody wanted to be friends with the dumb girl.
Anyway I think this can literally go on forever. I'm here to talk about my ex, so I always had doubts that he liked that girl, and I even told him multiple times that, hey, I think she likes you. Maybe you should be with her instead of me. I had very low self-esteem and I thought I wasn't worthy of any sort of love. So I tried to push him away. But he stayed and always told me that he's not even going to talk to her after the school ends. And that I have nothing to worry about really. So I believed him. But guess what he's now been dating her for 1.5 years and she even has the same birthday as me. This thing just ruins my birthday. Because I always end up thinking of them. And that will wish me " happy birthday" this year?
I've become very very obsessive when it comes to them. I literally just spend hours searching for the playlist that they created for eachother. And that's what confirmed that they are together. At first I was in denial that he'd never do such a thing. But when I asked him this recently he said yes. And he even said " don't even utter a word against her" Man, I was shattered. So, make sure you get there no later than mid-afternoon to avoid any last-minute rush. And while you're at it, don't forget to pack comfortable walking shoes as you'll be doing a lot of walking during the conference.

Hotel
To ensure maximum flexibility and convenience, we strongly recommend staying at a hotel within a 15-minute walking distance from the convention center. This way, you won't be tied to bus schedules and can walk to the conference at any time, giving you more control over your schedule. The Mandalay Bay and the Delano offer a short walk to the convention center, making them excellent choices. However, the Delano is your best bet if you want to avoid walking through the casino. The Luxor and Excalibur are a bit farther away (20+ minutes walking), but with their covered and air-conditioned walkways, you won't have to worry about the weather or getting too tired.

Sessions
If you're planning to attend Cisco Live, it's important to sign up for your breakout sessions before the conference begins. Unlike some other conferences, signing up beforehand is mandatory at Cisco Live, as it guarantees you a reserved admission to the session of your choice. This is especially important for the most popular sessions, so plan your sessions in advance to avoid missing out on the ones you really want to attend.
Once the session catalog opens up on the registration website, it is advisable to schedule the sessions you are most interested in as soon as possible. You can always go back later to change sessions. It's important to prioritize the topics that are most important to you, as there are usually more sessions than you can attend. When choosing sessions, don't just read the titles. If a session title sounds interesting, read the abstract to get more details about what the session will cover. Remember to set aside some time during the week to visit the World of Solutions. This is where you can speak with vendors, explore various product lines, attend demos, participate in self-paced labs, or capture the flag events to enhance your skills. If you have any tough questions saved up, you can ask Cisco people, both technical and non-technical, and there's a special section of the show dedicated to TAC people.
While there are receptions with food and beverages and lots of tchotchkes, the World of Solutions is a great place to make contacts. If you want to have a real conversation with any vendors, don't count on doing it during a reception - it's just too busy. It's better to devote a breakout session to the expo, where there will be fewer people, and you can have a meaningful conversation with the vendors.

Cisco Live Celebration
The Cisco Live Celebration, formerly known as the CAE (Customer Appreciation Event), is a giant social gathering for all the attendees. It’s a great time to relax and socialize with people you’ve met at Cisco Live. For Las Vegas 2024, Elton John will be headlining the Cisco Live Celebration will be at Allegiant Stadium. Be prepared to be reminded of when rock was young with some Crocodile Rock!
Every year, the bus rides back from this get crazy. Leaving a bit early may save you a ton of time. Depending on where you’ve chosen to stay, it may be within walking distance, and the weather in the evening is usually quite comfortable.

On my search for an option for a good nights sleep as an active side and belly sleeper, I have discovered the Sierra Designs Cloud/Night Cap series for me.
For one, but surely not only, the system of attaching the bag to your sleeping pad is something I have fancied with quite a bit. Sadly I have seen that Sierra Designs themselfs wrote on their website that this only functions with pads for up to 3 inches / 7-8 cm.
Having a Big Agnes Rapide SL thats a bummer, as that sleeping pad is quite a bit thicker than that (4.25"/~11cm).
Could anyone who has one of SD's zipless sleeping bags testify if perhaps with enough squish and squosh you do fit it on thicker pads?
Alternatively do you have other options for sleep systems recommendations that I could have a look at (also have the zenbivy system aswell as the Nemo Disco in my range of possible contestants). I am from Europe so some of the American "niche" brands might not be as readly available to me :)

Hey people.
This is a long story, but I’m going to try and condense it as much as possible. Basically about 9 weeks ago my maternal cousin and I both completed an Ancestral/DNA test through one of the popular brands.
My parents are very against these DNA tests (I thought) because they don’t like the idea of giving your DNA to these companies and so have forbidden me from doing them in the past when I brought up the idea. Though, I now know the real reason they were against me doing it.
My cousin (James) got his results first and matched with loads of people saying my mother’s maiden name, as well as other names known within my mother’s family line.
I got my results about a week later and not only did I not match with my cousin, I didn’t match with any of my cousins matches nor did anyone share my mothers maiden name. My dad (and I) have an extremely common surname in my country -think “smith”- and I did match with a few people who shared that name but none were close matches, 3rd-4th cousins being the closest. So I’m just assuming it was because it’s a common surname.
James’ family know he’s done the DNA test and he’s shared the results however I have asked him to keep what he knows about mine between us for a while.
I learnt this about 2 weeks ago and have since come to the conclusion that I am adopted. At first this made me feel really upset, and I thought maybe the DNA tests were faulty but after researching, no I don’t think they are. I think I am just adopted. I have two younger brothers who are 11 and 9 who aren’t adopted because I remember my mom being pregnant with them. So I can’t understand why I was adopted.
I want to know tell my parents know about being adopted, I want to in some ways confront them and ask why they’ve lied to me for so long. But I also want to say I still consider them my only family. James thinks it’s a really bad idea, he says I should just keep it to myself because if I tell my parents I know I’m adopted it could have negative consequences on my relationship with my parents and also could get him into trouble with his parents because he bought me the DNA test and he is very close to my parents.
I’ve said I’ll just tell them I bought the test myself but he says they’ll know because he got his test so recently.
WIBTA if I ignored my cousin and confronted my parents about me being adopted anyway?

It might be better to tell them about the existing results before you know what the real story is. Right now you're in a gray area, where you have some possibly mixed up information and you're genuinely just asking questions rather than confronting anyone. This gives them a chance to (very belatedly) do the right thing ... or not, which would also be illuminating in a way. You can always seek confirmation and drama later if necessary or desired.

This is a long story, I’m going to try and condense it. I’ve spoken about it before on a different post on my profile if you want more details.
In the past I’ve spoken about wanting to do one of those Ancestry and DNA at home tests, but my parents (or who I thought were my parents) were always against them. They told me because they don’t trust those companies with your DNA, but I obviously know the real reason now.
A while ago my cousin and I decided to buy a test each and I completed mine in secret. I was shocked when not only did I not match with him when we got the results, I didn’t match with anyone who shared a surname with any of my family (except for some matches that shared my dad’s surname, but this is an extremely common surname in my country. Think “Smith” for the USA).
I thought perhaps the test was faulty or wrong, but after some researching I had my doubts that the test was faulty. But just in case I decided to do a second test, with a different company, just in case the first one was somehow wrong. This time I bought three tests, one I gave to my paternal uncle (he’s actually only a few years older than me despite being my uncle) and one I gave to my maternal cousin, and the last one I did myself.
We sent them all off and we got our results surprisingly quickly, about 10 days after we sent them off (yesterday night). But these tests confirmed my suspicions, I’m not related to my family.
And even more, I matched with a woman “49.8% DNA match, predicted parent/child”. Looked on her profile and she was born in 1991 meaning she would have been 15/16ish when I was born. She hasn’t been active on the app for over 6 months.
I’ve written out messages to her to send and then deleted them, I’ve contemplated just saying “hello” but haven’t had the courage to actually send it off. I also could just turn off matches and make my profile invisible, that way she wouldn’t see me if she logged back in again. I could pretend she doesn’t exist and that I never found this out. I have another mom out there that I know nothing about, it makes me feel so anxiously curious.
My parents never told me I was adopted, I feel utterly betrayed by them. I’ve resisted the urge to confront them about it since I got the results back from the first test, but now I know for certain I just want to smash my fists into a wall. I want to scream at them. I hate that they’ve kept this from me for my entire life.
Now the only people who know I know is my uncle and my cousin. I trust that they won’t say anything to anyone until I’ve spoken to people about it.
I feel so lost and confused. Should I message my biological mom? Or pretend she doesn’t exist and turn my profile invisible from her?

I'm wondering if there is a possibility she did the DNA test as a vague hope that maybe one day you would use it as a tool to find her and reach out to her. Whether or not she did, the ball is in your court and I think it should stay that way until you are ready to deal with it. Reach out when you are ready. A lot has happened to me since my last post here, and before I start to explain I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who commented/replied to my OP. It was really helpful and I truly appreciate it. For full context read the other posts on my profile which discuss this situation further.
First things first, I decided to turn my profile private/invisible. I didn't want my biological mom (BM) to see that I had done a DNA test as an invitation to message me. I looked at her profile one last time and it still said "last online 6 months ago" or something like that, so she obviously doesn't check the app regularly. I wrote down information about her (first and last name, birth year, 'past' family names) in case in the future I lose access to the account or if I want to try to track her down and her account disappeared. Though I am hoping that if I do decide to have contact with her in the future, I will just be able to message her on the app. But just in case.
I "confronted" my parents about what I had found out, there was a lot of crying. Especially from my mom, but also from me. I told them how hurt I was that they never told me, and how much it has caused pain and anxiety to find this out on my own and feeling like I was unable to ask them about it.
They apologised to me, they explained to me that they wanted to tell me. They planned on doing it when I turned 8, but they 'couldn't go through with it' because they 'didn't want to hurt me'. They said every year they planned to tell me and every year they put it off. They told me they did it out of love for me, but also out of anxiety that it would change our relationship for the worse.
I explained to them that even if them telling me that I was adopted did hurt me as a child I would have had them there to support me through it. And that now I had found out on my own and felt like I didn't have anyone there to understand what I was going through. They took responsibility for not telling me and for the hurt it caused when I was now.
We hugged, we cried and we forgave each other. Even though I don't agree with them not telling me, I can understand their feelings and why they found it so difficult when I was younger.
After we had finished talking about it they asked me what I wanted moving forward, if I wanted to tell my brothers that I was adopted or just carrying on like nothing happened. I said I no longer wanted it to be a secret and that I wanted them to tell my brothers what they should have told me. I didn't want it to seem like a 'dirty' secret, but simply a fact of who I am and where I came from. I want it to be something celebrated, not feared to be talked about. I wasn't born into this family, but this is my family. And I feel so blessed that I was given the opportunity to become part of this family.
I asked what they knew about my BM, they said not much. They know that she was in foster care when she fell pregnant with me, and that she would have only been 14/15 at the time. She decided she didn't want to keep me but didn't want to have a termination and so I was put up for adoption and that she requested 'no contact' with me. I hope that the situation around my birth wasn't traumatic for her. I know this is a weird thought, but I hope she just got pregnant with me from another person her own age and that I wasn't a product of any abuse. That makes me sad to think about.
Sorry for the long post. Again thank you all for the help and advice you all gave me. I appreciate everything.

I'm hoping for this to become a weekly, long-term game that can see some serious development over time. Expect things to be a bit different from the traditional Tolkienesque adventurer fantasy (though there'll be plenty of action and excitement!); the world of Galrea is my personal 5e setting, designed with an eye towards my strengths as writer and DM! Some big inspirations are Fullmetal Alchemist for themes and handling dark topics, Star Wars for worldbuilding, Fallout New Vegas for intrigue and factions, The Order 1886 for many stylistic and plot elements, and FFVII for getting fantasy elements to work with firearms and an industrial setting. And as for the campaign pitch proper:
For 50 years the elves waged a campaign of subjugation against the human nations of Galrea. The war devastated much of the known world, and saw the rise of many new innovations; well-developed firearms have become the standard ranged weaponry while the armored, hulking, tank-esque constructs known as juggernauts now stalk the battlefields of Galrea. At great cost, through blood and steel, the Osinyan Empire finally broke the elvish invaders - and in turn united two-thirds of the mortal realm under one banner for the first time in history. The Empire is ascendant; a new era of history has begun.
But now, 17 years after the Union, the cracks in this order have become increasingly apparent. The once backwater collection of city-states to the East have reorganized themselves into the Ancian Federation, a rival power capable of effective opposition to the Empire. In the new territories, Osinyan rule has proven unpopular with many, who sometimes even resort to violent insurgencies. All the while the Empire struggles with itself; falling victim to the corruption and internal rivalries that have plagued Osinyan society for nearly as long as history can remember. For all its size, power, and industrial might - the Empire is stretched to the limit.
Within this oversized polity is an organization of exceptional people known as the Imperial Knights; a group your character is expected to be a junior member of, or perhaps simply associated with. For the most part, the Knights do whatever needs to be done to keep the empire running in situations where throwing manpower, metal, or money at a problem isn’t viable. This ranges from monster hunting to espionage to arcane research - even confronting eldritch terrors. Most knights typically specialize in a couple of areas, but the group as a whole are multipurpose enforcers. (The Knights aren't really the traditional, plate-armored kind - the title is more about the nature of their service than it is about a specific role.)
A skilled knight can expect lavish rewards for their service. Riches, land, noble titles, and political capital are common, but it is far from unheard of for an important individual to request more creative favors. The party are not yet full knights, lacking some of the formal authority and informal influence that come with the title - but as initiates they're acknowledged as candidates for the title, should they prove themselves clapable.
But, don't let the above limit your character ideas and backgrounds too much! The Knights have a large amount of freedom in how, exactly, they resolve the situations they are faced with; so long as the problem goes away, their methods needn't conform with traditional Osinyan thinking. (I'm pretty specifically trying to avoid an evil campaign here!) And your character doesn't have to be on board with the whole imperialism thing to have good reason to join; perhaps they might want a measure of social mobility, to use a knight's influence to support unpopular reforms, or simply to stop the bloodshed of a second war. (The one major restriction I have on character motivation is to avoid an outright double-agent type who is expected to backstab the party at some point. I want to make sure everybody can stick together as a cohesive group!)
This campaign is a living world and in many ways a sandbox for the players. In practical terms, while the party is expected to pursue tasks assigned to them, the methods you choose in doing so are entirely up to you, and you'll have increasing opportunities to set your own objectives as your influence grows. All the major people you encounter are probably playing an angle of some kind - you're encouraged to work towards your own ends, too! Don't be afraid to be a driver of the plot in your own right; you'll lose your head in the Empire if you only ever do things you're told. Play your cards right and you might just be able to change the fate of the world.
That’s all the important player buy-in out of the way for now. So, as for some details, I’m wanting one player to round out a group of 4, with the party currently being level 7. (We started at 6, so still quite early in the overall game!) I do have some moderate house rules, the most notable of which is “gritty realism”, though I mostly like it as a pacing tool as I’m not fond of overly much grit nor realism. Hello! I'm visiting Bordeaux with a large group of 14 in late June primarily to tour Saint-Émilion. As someone that likes to plan in advance I'm keen to book dinner for Friday and Saturday night in advance because we're a large group. I recently got a minor infraction for doing the following:
I was streaming and was looking for people to join my party so we could keep requeuing- the message was something along the lines of: "/p join *** to queue with us! Playing different gamemodes!". I would "lobby hop" (switching lobbies) and keep saying the message because I figured it wasn't spamming if it's in different lobbies. Don't worry though, now I'm aware that lobby-hopping is bypassing the spam filter- I was unaware that was a rule but we're all good now! Unsure if that was the cause of my punishment- or sharing my stream link in the PRIVATE party chat.

I 28F Met him 33M in June, started dating in November. First few months of meeting his communication was very poor so I was dating other people. Since November he has expressed he wants to be in a relationship with me but feels that he cannot meet his expectations of a good partner financially. He had been out of work for a year. He has recently landed a good job. We have essentially been in a relationship without the label. I no longer want to commit anymore time and effort, I have invested too much already. I have to walk away from him, I don’t like the idea of waiting for someone to be ready.
Whilst money is very important, the little things count too, the effort, the things that don't cost much. On valentines day he sent a basic message just saying happy valentines day.... no meaningful message, flowers, nothing. I cant teach someone romance. He talks about the future living together, marriage, children. His actions don’t match his words.
I don't believe that money is the real reason, I think he might have commitment issues or don't see a future with me. Regardless, the outcome is the same. I would appreciate any opinions on this, some of my friends think I'm self-sabotaging, I don't think I am.

I‘m Laurens, 26 years old and from Germany. During the pandemic I made a lot of mistakes from which I’m still trying to recover. I used to study History but am currently working 2 different jobs. I intend to join the army at the beginning of next year.
I do a lot of sport even though I‘m still on the heavier side. Since about a year I started regularly running and participated in multiply 10km marathons. I also go to the gym 3 days a week. I lost close to 30kg over the last 2 years but there is still a long way to go.
I listen to a lot of music. I grew up listening to rock and metal and used to be a bit close minded when it came to other genres. Since some years I‘m much more open about it and with a few exceptions listen to pretty much anything there is.
I also read a lot. Like with music pretty much anything there is. Romance, Drama, Thriller, Fantasy. As long as it‘s a good story and I‘m entertained I‘m there for it. My favourite author is Stephen King.
Lately I couldn‘t watch as much as I would‘ve liked but I‘m hugely into tv shows and movies as well. I can talk hours about both if I‘m passionate enough about it.
When it comes to my personality I‘m rather introverted. Being in a big crowd is rather exhausting for me. If I have a connection with someone (especially humor-wise) I can be quite talkative though. But there are definitely moments where am more quit than is good for me. I‘m sometimes rather clumsy when it comes to social situations, but try to be very empathetic. If I screw something up, it mostly comes back to haunt me until whatever happened is solved again. But like anyone else I‘m far from perfect.

Important note:

That states that the new user needs to stay invested for 12 months. While I don't expect 'you' to stay on that long, out of precaution, I'd ask that you stay on for 2-3 months (there are no fees and it's a fine platform).
