Weird brown wax on kitchen drawers
Hi everyone- bit of a weird one, my partner and I moved into a new place and I’ve been doing a deep clean of the place and have come across something I’ve never seen before - in some of the kitchen cabinets there is a weird brown wax (almost identical to ear wax) and it wipes off easily enough but I was wondering if anyone knew what caused it/how to prevent it?
Insect wise I’m living in Sydney and there’s the odd cockroach but o don’t think they’d leave anything like this behind - bed bugs also crossed my mind but it would be unlikely they’d be in the kitchen drawers with so many soft furnishings available (also haven’t seen any) I attached some pics after I gave it a clean

The Science Behind Puravive's Effectiveness

Puravive offers a better alternative to exhausting diets and intense workouts. Many natural weight loss remedies fail to deliver long-lasting results because they do not address the root cause of the issue. Research has shown that low levels of brown adipose tissue (BAT) are linked to unhealthy weight gain.
Individuals who are overweight tend to have lower BAT levels, while lean individuals have higher levels of BAT. BAT is a special type of fat that actively burns calories, thanks to its high concentration of mitochondria. It is known as the most calorie-burning cell in the body.
Puravive enhances BAT levels, effectively boosting metabolism and promoting the fat-burning process. The natural ingredients in this supplement are carefully chosen to naturally increase brown adipose tissue levels.
In addition, Puravive supports the body in converting food into energy more efficiently, resulting in improved energy levels throughout the day. Say goodbye to fatigue and sluggishness with Puravive's unique approach to weight loss.

Are these all leafhoppers? How did they get into my room and how do I get rid of them?
Tonight was the first night I've found these in my room since I moved in two weeks ago. No plants, drinks, food, etc. Second story and I checked everywhere else in the house and couldn't find any, but there were about two dozen in my room. There are green, brown, and black/grey ones. All sizes. They all fly. Some are on the ceiling, some stick to the walls, and others prefer the bed. Mostly black ones on walls and green ones on the bed but not sure if that's relevant. The ceiling ones are much smaller and they are very hard to see in the pics (2 and 7). I got the best pictures I could. I did install new bright white lightbulbs today but my blinds were closed and I checked the windows and they were closed and locked, but maybe they found a crack? I'm mostly looking for confirmation that this isn't anything serious and those bugs won't hurt me haha.

2024.05.15 08:41 ElloMelloMelloMello 21F still at my wits end with stomach issues and trying to gauge my next steps

I am so sorry for the length, thank you so much if you read this.
Last time I gave this info:
I'm female, 21, 5'7" and weight around 255. If you scroll through my post history you'll see last year I was dealing with extreme period irregularity. I was never diagnosed with anything like PCOS but did go on a birth control pill which helped to regulate my cycle. I have been on that since November, I have also been on a Wellbutrin/Sertraline combo since August. That and therapy really has my anxiety and depression at wya more manageable levels. The problems I'm about to talk about started in January.
I have started having more digestive type issues since January. I've had almost constant acid reflux for over a year. I tried one of those two week courses of medicine you can find on the shelf to help but it didn't at all. I turned 21 in June, I've tried maybe 6 drinks in that time frame (it's March now) and I hate the taste and it makes me feel yuck and nauseous even after just 1 so I don't drink.
In the past month I have been having times where I wake up 5-6 hours after eating with intense mid to upper stomach and back pain it was like a band of pain that wrapped around my body. It's like a 8/10 on the pain scale. I thought it was heartburn or indigestion so I would try a Pepto, warm shower, nothing would help. I would be up for hours in tears. Before it somewhat subside and I would feel a little better. The last one happened on 3/12 into 3/13. I thought this could be due to large meals, or timing of dinner. I haven't been able to see a pattern though yet.
I feel nauseous way more than I ever used to, after eating or while in the car. Also in the past couple of weeks my bathroom activities have been a lot more different. It used to be, I would have a regular poop once a day, of the firm but not too firm consistency you would expect and normal color unless I ate like something green or blue. Now, I feel like every time I sit on the toilet now (3-5 times a day at least) I poop. It's not completely runny but it's not firm in the slightest. It's also had the strangest, weirdest odor. I have no idea what to explain it like but it's different and worse than normal. It's also become a lot darker. I don't know if it's really a black, I can't really tell but it's definitely a super dark brown at the least and I don't know if it's tarry, it's definitely kind of shiny, I really don't know how to explain it. I have just felt off lately. I haven't eaten anything super fiber containing, the last time I had Pepto was on the 10th. Those were some things I felt important to include as I know pepto could cause black stool.
Another thing, possibly important to know is just food aversion. Lately, food just doesn't taste the same, things don't sound good, and I'm not getting hunger cues like I used to. I often go most of the day without ever feeling hungry, this usually results in me eating 1 meal for dinner and maybe a snack earlier in the day? And my stomach just randomly mildly aches.
I also realized it's probably important to mention the exhaustion. Since January it has been so bad. I know it's normal to be tired expecially as a busy college student but I've missed multiple classes because I overslept or was too tired. And I've never done that before. I'm usually asleep between 10-11pm on the weekdays and around 12am on the weekends. On weekdays I wake up between 7 and 8am and weekends probably 8 and 9am. It's hard to not use electronics before sleep especially with homework and such. But it's been so bad. I just get so exhausted I don't know how to explain it. But I just feel heavy and I can't get out of bed because I'm so tired.I feel like it all probably relates to my weight. It's something I've struggled with and have tried to work on it. I haven't changed my diet in terms of types of food since I was at 200lbs in high school and I've focused on portions and more activity. I guess it could be stress too? But I don't feel like I've been stressed any differently lately?
Here is where I’m at currently: I went to my pcp who check my blood counts, lipase, and did a CMP. A year ago I had elevated ALT/AST levels (diagnosed with fatty liver) and those were back down to well within normal range. Nothing came out of these tests everything was normal. They also checked for H. Pylori and that was negative. So to rule out gallbladder I had a right upper quadrant ultrasound today. I did the fasting for 8 hours before and everything. The ultrasound results were just fatty liver. There was no evidence of gallstones or gallbladder thickening.
The final thing to add before I explain what was currently going on is I was put on 40 mg of pantoprazole to take once in the morning at least 30-60 minutes before first meal. This was because I tried Prilosec in August and that didn’t help, nothing has helped. I’ve been on it for a week and honestly I thought I noticed a difference, definitely a less constant feeling of acid reflux. Something that has been constant for around a year.
After my ultrasound I came home around 5:30pm and had a small amount of fish and fries. I did not eat to full, took time to eat, etc. went about my day. Around 8:30pm I felt a bit hungry so I had some chips and cheese, it wasn’t much but i felt satisfied and good. Like 20 minutes after my stomach started to hurt like it had been, I was confused because I felt confident the cause was in part behind laying down only a few hours after eating but I hadn’t laid down. It’s almost 3am and I am hurting bad. It definitely feels a bit like heartburn but it’s also just a gripping twisting pain right at my ribs from belly button to breast and around my back. I’m just lost and nervous and not sure what next steps will be.

2024.05.15 08:26 Aeogeus Do Not Fight Monsters

“What do you mean it’s wrong?” said Tamara, becoming frustrated with Samuel.
“I'm trying to tell you that plants do not eat earth. They just absorb nutrients from it,” Samuel replied, equally annoyed as this was the fourth time he had explained it. “Look, just take my word for it, OK,” he added.
“Fine, but you will have to explain it again,” Tamara retorted.
Samuel and Tamara were partners in a scientific study of their forest home. It was genuinely idyllic in every sense of the word; the trees stretched high into the sky, and everyone was covered in succulent leaves, a deep and gorgeous shade of green. Around their trunks were rings of flowers gathered from every continent, and a thick carpet of grass lay on the ground.
The two sat underneath a chestnut tree, writing up their findings for the day. It had focused mainly on tree sizes and growth rates, and they had continued this study for, on and off, almost a year.
Samuel turned to look at his assistant and found that she was just as remarkable as the day they had first met: golden locks, like living sunlight, tied neatly in a bun. Her eyes were an emerald green, and all in all, she was gorgeous. However, it was when you came to her waist that things became truly incredible because rather than a pair of legs, there was a long and wide snake’s tail.
It was huge, at least seven metres long and as wide as her torso. The scales were the same beautiful colour as her hair and reflected the sunlight in such a way that she appeared to glow. She was wearing an ultramarine tunic with a black diamond in the centre. She was like this not because of a plague, a curse or some mutation; Tamara was a Lamia; it was how she was born.
Samuel, on the other hand, looked far less impressive. He was around five foot ten, with dull brown hair and equally dull eyes. His stomach stuck out from the rest of him. No amount of exercise was able to get rid of it.
He was by every description a ‘dull as dishwater’ human. His clothes, however, were slightly more interesting. He wore a navy blue tunic with a thick leather belt wrapped around his waist. On his feet was a pair of excellent leather boots, able to withstand whatever the world threw at them and on his forearms and shins, he wore something Tamara had never seen or even heard of before: a pair of vambraces and greaves, Samuel called it armour.
Three strips of rugged leather layered on top of one another made up each piece, and between each layer was a collection of tiny metal beads. When Tamara asked what they were for, Samuel said they were for protection.
All of this would have been inconceivable to Samuel two years ago, but he had become used to it in time. Samuel was not born into this world; he had arrived. How? He did not know, but he remembered it all vividly; his senses had been overloaded, and at first, he believed he had died.
“What’s wrong?” Tamara asked Samuel, who had been silent for over a minute.
Samuel snapped out of his daydream and said: “nothing, just thinking about that day again.”
Tamara nodded and said nothing else; she knew exactly what was wrong.
Samuel went straight back to writing. When Samuel first showed up, there had been no paper or pens, but what was even stranger than the lack of these apparent necessities was that Samuel had had to invent both of these items.
Tamara and those like her did not possess a written language; they relied entirely on their memories, and until Samuel had shown up, Tamara had not even conceived of the notion, but she had picked it up astonishingly quickly.
“It still sounds like eating to me,” said Tamara, bringing the conversation back to the original topic.
“Well, it isn’t; eating requires a mouth and stomach,” Samuel replied.
“Says who?” Tamara asked defiantly.
“Says me,” Samuel answered.
Samuel jotted down the last of his notes and left the pages to dry in the sun. Samuel then turned to his right and looked at a large book, the size of a chair’s seat, bound in yellow leather and knotted by animal tendons. He picked it up and began to leaf through the pages.
His eyes glanced over paragraphs about oak trees and orchid flowers until he finally reached the section he sought; the page was titled Silver Birch (Betula Pendula).
“Have you finished the drawing on Silver Birch yet?” Samuel asked without looking.
Tamara was currently focused on a drawing of sunflowers, but she understood his request and, without looking up or saying a word, handed him the picture he wanted.
Samuel took the drawing and took several moments admiring it. Like all her work, the picture was astounding; not only did it look like an actual Silver Birch, but it also seemed to be alive, as though it would start blowing in the breeze.
Samuel punched four holes along the sheet's left side, undid the tendon strings and then attached the drawing behind the title page. He added eight more pages to his book, four of text and four illustrations.
Their work was now done; there was no more writing or drawing today, and he placed their work into a knapsack Tamara had brought with her. Samuel turned to his partner and asked: “so what do you want to do now?”
Tamara looked up through the canopy and could make out the silhouettes of several birds and finally said: “I’d quite like to fly.”
Samuel smiled, chuckled and said, “Yes, so would I, but that would require every member of the village working together for decades.”
Tamara looked Samuel in the eye and said: “are you making fun of me?”
Samuel did not reply; he just looked Tamara dead in the eye. She observed every minute twitch on Samuel's face and concluded he was not.
“How could a person fly?” She asked, suddenly intrigued.
“I don’t know, I’m not an engineer,” Samuel answered, “So apart from flying, what else do you want to do?”
Tamara let out a sigh and said: “I guess we will just have to walk.”
These were the moments Samuel lived for, just a quiet afternoon with his best friend enjoying a stroll; he was utterly content.
“You seem chipper,” Tamara said, noticing the growing smile on Samuel’s face.
“That’s because I feel chipper” he replied
They passed through the trees, heading towards their favourite spot, a beach by the side of a lake so large you could not see the other side.
“So, how is everyone?” Samuel said, trying to spark a conversation.
“You mean every single one because that could take a while?” Tamara replied.
“Let’s start with your mother” he clarified.
Tamara’s mother, Pancha, was more or less just a larger version of her daughter, just as brash and headstrong.
“She’s fine; she has finally stopped asking me what happened every time I come to meet you,” she said.
“Really, and it only took her two and a half years,” said Samuel with a smirk.
Yes, that first year here, had been a real trial. Samuel had never felt so scared, isolated and persecuted in his life. When he thought about it, he could still feel the fear and the hopelessness.
A gust of air slammed into Samuel’s face, bringing him back to the present, and what a wonderful time it was. The water was crystal clear, the beach was covered in sparkling white sand, and the distinct aroma of water wafted through the air. Samuel breathed it all in as Tamara spread herself over the beach.
The cooling breeze that Samuel found so enjoyable, Tamara found far less agreeable. Tamara was ectothermic or cold-blooded. She could not maintain her body temperature; she needed to absorb it from her environment, and the wind was slowly draining her.
“Comfortable down there?” Samuel asked.
Tamara turned her head, looked up at him and said: “Actually, yes, not as good as my bed, but still fine.”
Samuel left Tamara to her thermoregulation and strolled down to the water’s edge, “stay where I can see you!” Tamara called.
“Yes, MOM,” Samuel answered sarcastically, though he knew it was more for Tamara’s sake than his; she had a problem with open spaces.
Samuel closed his eyes, stretched his arms above his head, feeling his muscles strain against the tension, and yawned. Small tears formed in his eyes and wiped them away. He had only been up for a few hours but was ready for bed.
“Too much thinking, that was the problem,” Samuel mumbled to himself.
The sunlight sparkled on the water’s surface. It seemed as though millions of diamonds were suddenly brought into existence, danced for a few moments, and then vanished as quickly as they came. It was beautiful, just like everything else here.
He climbed up a rock that jutted from that sand and sat down, his legs dangling over the edge. As he kicked his legs, a ray of sun caught his greaves, and although the leather was rather dull, it still dazzled him.
Samuel heard a sound reminiscent of sandpaper brushing against wood, and he knew at once what it was. He waited four more seconds and said, without moving an inch, “Don’t even think about it!”
“How did you know?” Tamara asked, feeling simultaneously impressed, confused and disappointed.
Samuel looked her in the eye and replied: “who do you think you’re dealing with?”
Tamara had not clambered up the rock like Samuel; she had simply raised herself on her tail so she stood over two metres high.
“Are you feeling better?” he asked.
Tamara smiled and answered, “yes, thanks for asking.”
Tamara moved behind Samuel and then began to coil around the boulder, and if he had not experienced it all before, it would have been unnerving. Tamara was only twelve and a half, yet she was already far stronger than him. Samuel was sure if Tamara really wanted to, she could crush a bison to death. After the graceful dance around the stone, she sat down beside Samuel.
The pair was silent for a few minutes, except for a quick coughing fit by Samuel; they took in the unnatural beauty of their surroundings.
“Hey, I have a question,” said Tamara, coming back to her senses.
“What is it?” Samuel replied.
“You still haven’t told me why we are studying the forest?” She asked.
In an instant, Samuel became deeply confused. To him, it seemed all too obvious why they were doing it.
“There is no practical reason for doing it. We do it so that we know,” Samuel answered.
Tamara became silent. Samuel realised that she was deep in thought and decided to give her all the time she needed until she finally said: “Is this one of those human things?”
Samuel, upon hearing this, gave a small chuckle and answered: “yes, if you like.”
Suddenly, something caught Samuel’s eye. It was a crab, no bigger than a golf ball. Its back was powder blue, and it held its arms upright, its claws pointing down. The tiny creature would walk forward, scoop some sand into its mouth, and then leave a small pellet behind.
“Look at that!” said Samuel, nudging Tamara’s shoulder and pointing at the tiny crustacean. Tamara turned her head and looked directly at where he was pointing; she strained her eyes at what she thought was a pebble; she was about to climb down and collect it when it suddenly moved, and she squealed.
Tamara dragged the bottom end of her tail up from the beach and timidly said, “What’s that?”
Samuel remembered that tone of voice all too well, and it brought with it some unpleasant memories, but he pushed them to the back of his mind and said: “it’s a crab.”
Samuel was certain he had seen this type of crab before but could not put a name to the image. Samuel was sure he had read about them, watched a documentary, or attended a lecture, but he could not remember. Ultimately, he decided to drop it for now and see if the answer would come to him.
Tamara kept staring at it as though she believed it would pounce if she took her eyes off it for one second.
“Is it dangerous?” she asked, her voice hushed to ensure the creature did not notice her.
Samuel sighed and answered: “it’s a crab, Tamara, unless you happen to be a nematode then…”
Samuel paused mid-sentence as his brain finally connected the dots and asked, “Wait, you have never seen a crab before?”
This perplexed Samuel for a moment until he remembered that Tamara did not have a television, a car, and she could not fly a plane, so it was not unexpected that she would not know what a crab was.
Tamara shook her head in response to his question, and Samuel added: “you know what a woodlouse is, right?”
Tamara nodded and said, “I like woodlice.”
“Well, a crab is just a type of woodlouse that lives near water,” Samuel concluded.
However, he could tell from her face that she was unconvinced, so he got off the rock, walked over to the tiny creature, wary of its pincers, and picked it up by its backside.
“What are you doing?” Tamara called in alarm.
Samuel held the animal, its legs flailing wildly in an attempt to escape, and said, “showing you there is nothing to be worried about.”
Taking care not to crush it, Samuel clambered back up the rock and presented the animal to her. Tamara stared at it for some as the crab bobbed its eye up and down and tried in vain to find a part of Samuel it could nip.
“It’s actually kind of… cute,” Tamara said after two minutes of silence.
She relaxed her tail and let it rest on the beach once more. “Can it hold it?” She asked Samuel, fear being replaced by interest.
“Of course, you can. Just make sure you hold it by its back and be careful of the pincers; if they get you, it will hurt.”
Samuel handed the crab over to her and watched as Tamara began to inspect the animal from every angle. The crab had a white underbelly and purple joints.
“You think you could draw it from memory?” Samuel asked.
“Hmm?” Tamara replied. Samuel let out a sigh and repeated. After three more attempts, Tamara finally took notice and said, “Yes.”
Five minutes later, Samuel said, “we should probably put him back now.”
Tamara moaned about it, but Samuel said: “he has his own life, Tamara; you can’t keep him!”
She conceded, grumbling under her breath, and gently placed the animal back on the sand. As the crab dashed away, the two noticed that while they had been fixated on that single crab, thousands more had emerged on the beach.
Upon seeing the swarm of animals make their way across the beach, Tamara let out a squeal and once again pulled her tail up off the beach. The army of crabs marched along the shore. The collective walking produced a sound loud enough to hear from fifty metres away, and at last, Samuel remembered what they were and said, with no small amount of satisfaction in his voice, “they’re soldier crabs.”
“What are they going to do?” Tamara asked, concerned by the sudden appearance of so many creatures.
Samuel kept staring at the gathering, but he heard her question and replied, “They’re just feeding,” and added quickly, “But we are far too big for them.”
“That's odd,” Samuel said under his breath.
“I know there are so many of them,” Tamara said, deeply unnerved by the sheer vastness of the swarm.
“No,” Samuel said, “There should be this many of them; it’s where they are that is strange.”
Tamara momentarily took her eyes off the army and asked, “So where should they be.” There was a slight flicker of fear in her voice at the prospect of being invaded; rats and mice where bad enough. They did not need another pest.
“By the sea, not a freshwater lake,” he answered.
“The Sea?” Tamara almost yelled. Samuel was a little surprised by this enthusiasm and turned to face her.
“Yes,” he said.
“Have you ever been to the sea,” she asked.
“Yes, many times,” Samuel said, uncertain where this was going.
“I bet it’s wonderful,” Tamara added with a smile.
Samuel was silent as his brain connected a few dots and asked: “how can you know about the sea if you don’t know about crabs?”
She smiled; Tamara enjoyed it when she knew something that he did not, “there is a story that my mom told me that before we came to this forest, we were a different people that lived by the sea.” Tamara paused for a breath.
“But then humans came and drove us from the water, and we fled inland. Our people split into two. One half went to the mountains, and the other settled in the forest.”
Tamara finished and waited for his reply. Samuel, however, just kept looking at her. Tamara was concerned that she had upset him; he did not like it when humans were labelled as the enemy, yet his face and posture were not those of one who was sad or angry.
“You people blame us for everything, don’t you?” Samuel said with a chuckle.
“If there is a fire, it’s a human’s fault. If there is an earthquake, it’s a human’s fault. If a little Boreray boy drinks all their apple juice in one gulp, it’s a human’s fault.”
“So, getting back on topic, where did these “Soldier crabs” come from anyway? We have visited this lake for over two years and never seen even a glimpse?” Tamara asked. Samuel looked back to the slowly advancing army, and several ideas flashed through his head.
“Maybe they have been dormant up until now; perhaps they make a large circle around the lake shore, and it’s simply luck that we were here on the day they passed by, or maybe the migrated here from somewhere else.”
They watched the crabs' ceaseless march until Tamara said, “These things are still giving me the creeps. Can we go now?” Samuel could not argue that there was something eerie about all of these animals appearing, seemingly, from nowhere; however, there was still one thing he had to be certain of.
“You think you could draw one from memory?” he asked.
Tamara’s face contorted in a scowl. Samuel, for all his good points, could become far too focused on his research, which often caused him to become ignorant of other people.
Yet she knew sitting here yelling at him would accomplish nothing, so she told him the truth: “Yes, can we go now!” Samuel nodded and then slid off the rock. Tamara copied him, and they both slinked back to the cover of the trees.
Now that she was beneath the canopy, Tamara let out an enormous sigh of relief as the anxiety slowly left, and the close air warmed her body. On the other hand, Samuel began to chafe at the stagnant air while his head began to bead with sweat, but it was nothing he had not experienced before, so he gritted his teeth and bared with it.
With their plans now ruined, Tamara and Samuel wandered aimlessly through the woods, chatting about what they could do to fill the rest of the day. Several ideas arose, including visiting a nearby waterfall and a set of monument stones, but none truly appealed to them.
In the end, Tamara said, “how about we just call it a day?”
Samuel was happy about this. Tamara was his only form of human contact, yet he could not deny the pointlessness of wandering around the woods, so he said, “Ok, but let’s take the long way.”
Samuel heard a sound above him and saw a red squirrel scampering through the trees.
“Is it difficult?” Tamara asked.
Samuel looked at Tamara and replied, “Well, it can give me a crick in my neck sometimes.”
Tamara let out a short laugh and clarified, “No, I mean, is it difficult being so inquisitive? It looks exhausting.”
He was not entirely sure what she meant by that. To Samuel, Tamara was every bit as curious as him, so he stated: “you tell me, you went out looking for me just because you wanted to know.”
“True,” answered Tamara, “and everyone has always said that I am always asking questions, but you’re like a boar that just ate sugar beat.”
“I have no idea what that means,” Samuel said, shaking his head. “But I do know that people always told me, when I was a boy, that humans are, by their nature, infinitely curious, but personally, I think that it’s just how I was born.” there was a pause, and he quickly added, “just like you.”
Tamara’s fingers started to numb as she brushed them against the bark of passing trees. She took a good look at the trees around her. Tamara had lived her entire life sheltered by these trees. This place was her home, her family’s home and her friend’s home, and she loved it, a perfect example of the innate beauty of nature.
Samuel, however, was of a different opinion this forest disturbed him, though this feeling had diminished with time. The trees all grew in perfect symmetry, four and a half strides form each other.
From Tamara’s perspective, there was nothing strange about this, yet Samuel often said that this should not be possible, that the wood should be a mess and that the trees should grow in an unorganised fashion. Yet to Tamara, the idea of messy forests was just as impossible as a structured one was to him.
Noon came and went, and Samuel’s stomach began to rumble. His breakfast was becoming a distant memory; he thought he might be able to bear it for another hour or so, but as they travelled closer to the village, Tamara started to become irritated by Samuel’s constant growling.
“We need to find you something to eat before that sound drives me nuts!” Tamara stated bluntly.
“That’s all well and good, my dear, so long as you can materialise food out of the aether,” answered Samuel, with just a hint of condescension in his voice.
Tamara did not know what the aether was, but it did not matter. “No, but I do know a nearby tree with some great fruit in it,” she replied.
Samuel found this strange for two reasons. Firstly, he found it very difficult to believe there was a source of food in this forest that either he had not found, or Tamara had not told him about yet.
Secondly that, Tamara would know much about something she could not eat. Tamara was strictly carnivorous; she ate nothing but meat.
He wanted answers fast and asked: “So why haven’t you told me about this before?”
“Because I can’t stand the smell, that’s why, and I didn’t want you stinking up the place,” she explained.
“If it smells disgusting, what makes you think I will eat it?” he asked.
“Because the Boreray can’t get enough of it, some of them say that they taste like all the best parts of every fruit and vegetable we grow, which is a shame because they smell like all the worst,” she added.
He asked no more questions. He was too busy thinking; this fruit sounded so familiar, but he could not remember. The need to survive day in day out had pushed most of his standard learning, from school and university to the back of his mind, not forgotten mind you just buried.

2024.05.15 08:00 Eatyour-Vegetabless Is this normal or should I be concerned?

About 2 weeks I had an abortion via the pills and for damn near the first whole week I was in excruciating pain and I passed huge blood clots the first two days (as expected). These past 3 days or so I haven’t had any cramps at all and my blood has been super dark red/brown also not heavy at all. Earlier today I got into a heated argument with my brother which had me shaking with anger. Within a few minutes I started nonstop just dripping blood and the cramps just hit me like a train. I had that argument around 9pm and at 12:15am I got up from my bed drenched in blood, I got off the bed and blood was just dripping down my leg and I could feel myself passing a blood clot. When I got to the bathroom I could smell the blood and it smelt awful and I also passed a HUGE clot I was freaking out. It almost 1am I took 1,000 mg of acetaminophen and I can still feel the cramps… am I okay or what this stress induced?

Orlando brown confirms the Drake/industry dog cosplay rumors
https://youtu.be/V7vLHcIA72s?si=_0bL6zl1VjuDSpmS full interview linked, the dog talk starts at 1:10:45
Orlando brown is speaking in riddles and it’s a lotta nonsense that may go over most people heads, but he was extremely clear about people “being” dogs in the industry for money and sex.
He didn’t say Drakes name, he said Bhris Breezy. But I expect that from Chris if I’m being honest, however it makes their No Guidance collaboration look a little more interesting to me especially considering they hated each other and threw bottles in the club over Rihanna for the longest time.
Drakes first person shooter song and music video references all of his dogs in the elevator scene. Confirms everything I’ve read about Drake making women eat vomit out of dog bowls and act like dogs.
Orlando also Makes a reference to 2C, or tusi(pronounced toosie like that one Drake song that is instructing us on how to move our bodies) AKA the drug Diddy was pushing around Miami with young Miami and how it’s used to make these people act anyway they want. And I’m thinking the girls referenced/named on the dogs in the elevator scene signed NDAs and got paid so they can’t speak on it if they wanted to
maybe that’s why Kendrick said “you did Cole foul”, because putting him on this dog song with a deeper dark meaning is foul. It’s even worse if you ask your son to draw the cover art for the dog album
Maybe it’s my confirmation bias taking over and Orlando is crazy. Maybe it’s a reach. Maybe. But I believe some of what he said in this interview and this was clear as day to me. Orlando enjoys exposing the industry in riddles and laughing it off so he doesn’t get sued or killed
Take all of this with as much salt as you’d like, I don’t care I’m just sharing what I found 30 minutes ago. I smoked before this write up and am now going to bed

2024.05.15 06:57 Upbeat_Jellyfish_125 Need a FanArt for this Odd-Pair.

Hi, so my friend is a huge fan of the ASOIAF books and the GOT show. She has this one pairing on the show she’s obsessed with. It’s one with Jaime Lannister and Lyanna Stark. Her birthday is coming up and I’d like to see if I can get her a nice, cute drawing of the two characters.
These are the character descriptions:
Jaime Lannister: tall, handsome young man, with golden-blonde hair, chiseled jaw and cat-green eyes.
Lyanna Stark: petite, pretty, child-like young woman, with black-brown hair and grey eyes.
I was wondering if the picture could be something romantic or wholesome. Something like him being in all his armour (since he’s in the Kingsguard) and the two of them in her chambers where he’s down on knee, looking up at her face, and she’s sitting on the edge of her bed, looking at him, both with clear love and adoration for each other but are helpless because she’s the queen and he’s her knight. She’s cupping his face and he has his palms on hers.
Thanks in advance!

2024.05.15 05:10 Brilliant_Lifeguard5 A Loop Between Two Cities

A Loop Between Two Cities
I've been a way from reddit a bit, but re-made an account to share an idea.
I really like the idea of extending the green line to BWI, but for how delayed the silver line was I'm not crazy about all that electrified rail having to be laid from Greenbelt to the airport. The MARC also exists, and it just increasing Penn line frequency seems a better argument than building more rail.
But the MARC sucks! It's not exciting, and it doesn't take metro cards. It basically exists only because the DC and Baltimore metros don't touch.
So I thought... what if I purchased MARC lines and disguised it as my own metro?
I looked at the rails the two DC-Baltimore MARC routes take, and if just a connector at the airport were built the two routes would form a loop between union station and BWI.
Thus, I present the Brown Loop
Anticipated existing routes shown
Questions you probably have:
  • Q: Why Brown?
  • Q: Would any new rail have to be constructed?
    • A: Yes, but new rail would only be needed at BWI; the rest of the system already exists. This map includes a few infill stations (Ex: Hannover, Fort Lincoln), though these could be built after the line is created.
  • Q: What becomes of the MARC lines?
    • A: The Penn line is shortenned to a Newark-BWI route, while the Camden line becomes a Baltimore metro line.
    • Alternatively, Wikipedia says the Baltimore light rail is standard guage, so perhaps the rail between Camden Yards and Hannover (a new station) could become part of the light rail system instead?
    • Also alternatively, if the two metros linking at BWI is good enough for inter-city travel, the Camden line could but cut altogether.
  • Q: How would payment/stations work?
    • A: During a transitional period a conductor would stand outside each train and tap your metro card to a handheld POS device before letting you board. Over time the former MARC stations would have turnstiles and fences installed to require tapping a metro card to enter the platform, much like a normal metro station. There would be a walk required to get from one line to another at interchanges (the MARC/metro interchanges aren't interiorlly linked), but this seems expensive to solve and not that big a deal.
  • Q: Would MARC trains be used on this loop?
    • A: The existing rolling stock would continue to be used, at least at first. It would still be a good idea to electrify the rails eventually, though this could be in the form of overhead wire rather than a third rail.
    • Alternatively, the Brown Line would (presumably) run more frequently than the MARC, and so could get away with smallelighter passenger cars, and therefore would not need as large of an engine. Perhaps a battery-electric engine could pull unpowered metro cars? Metro cars aren't quite standard guage, but are close enough that modifying them doesn't seem beyond WMATA capabilities. There's also supposed to be new metro cars in a few years, so there will soon be old ones to spare...
  • Q: This line seems to go out pretty far from DC...
    • A: Yes! And for that reason it would be shared by DC and Baltimore. Ideally, the Brown Loop would appear on both city's metro maps, and accept both city's transit cards. I think it won't be too long (decades) until DC and Baltimore are seen as "one city", much like Dallas and Fort Worth are seen (outside the metroplex lol). Having continuous mass transit across the whole area seems like it'll only become more needed with time.
I'm going to go to bed now I just wanted to share.

2024.05.15 05:01 Sprinkleshay Is there a reason for a 12 week old baby to start acting completely different?

I have my twin boys who were born 12 weeks ago (Born at 37 weeks). Recently my twin B has been acting strange and I wanted another opinion. He will snack all day (usually is taking an oz or two every hour or so) and then want to eat a ton right before bed. He was doing really well before this happened and was eating around 3-4 oz bottles every 2.5 - 3.5hrs. He seems hungry and will chew on his hands, but he doesn't seem interested in the bottle. He is also much more fussy and seems exhausted all the time (won't nap in the crib, so we do carriecontact/swing naps. though night time sleep is okay). It has been two weeks like this and I'm concerned. We took him to a pediatrician, but the doc seemed very dismissive and said it was probably reflux and just to hold him upright more... It feels like there is more to it and just curious if anyone has experienced something like this before or had ideas. Or maybe just reassurance that it is a phase and it will improve. Baby B from the start was the calm and really happy boy and it breaks my heart to see him so exhausted and sound so pained. Both boys are drinking expressed breastmilk and have since day one. Baby B used to spit up a lot but we switched to doctor Brown bottles and now he very rarely spits up. I'm hoping this is just a developmental thing, but it has been going for so long and I'm starting to get nervous. He is also the smaller twin being in the 10-15% percentile, so I'm nervous about weight gain. His brother has about 2-3lbs on him at this point and it only seems like their size difference is getting larger as time goes on.

2024.05.15 04:50 AutumnFanatic 22 [M4F] #Online - Nerdy guy who works afternoons and gets zero social interaction looking for a female interested in forming an intimate connection and changing that

Why did the farmer visit the pharmacy? To speak with the farm-assist.
Hi and welcome to my post! Wanted to start off with a funny to me dad joke.
Nice to meet you, I'm Dylan! To put it simple, I am a single 22 year old man who has been pretty lonely in life and lacking in female connection and interaction. And part of what comes with that is the desire to be intimate with a person. I am very mature for my age and will always be respectful of your boundaries and feelings, especially with anything sexual. Lately all I have is myself when it comes to sexual desires, so I would like to have someone to keep company with in that regard too.
I'm just relaxing at work since there's nothing really going on and thinking about going home tonight and burning a woodwick candle. Perfect for when there's a storm outside. I love candles! 🕯️ Sometimes a campfire outside on a fall night or a crackling WoodWick candle is a relaxing constant among our busy and hectic world. It's nice to just disconnect, feel grounded and happy in your own little cozy space. Feeling calm and collected and at peace. Something that fewer people take the time to do these days.
I am seeking a woman around my age or older to build a close connection with that could possibly lead to a relationship and something intimate which includes the possibility of teasing/sharing pics etc. but only when we were comfortable. Figured I would be open in my Intentions as that's the best way to be.
You:
Kind, respectful, and easy going.
Comfortable with the idea of eventually sharing intimate things together.
Willing to eventually move off of Reddit.
Want something genuine and fun!
Are honest in your intentions and a good person to be around!
That's about it, we will get along great I know it.
I've been feeling a little bummed out lately. I always try and stay happy and see the best in things. But.. I've just been so alone. Most of my whole childhood and adult years have been spent feeling lonely. I grew up surrounded by cornfields which was peaceful but also has a lonely aspect to it. My family never really were close and never did anything as a family really. And part of it too is the fact that I never had any neighbors my age to interact with. But aside from that, my adult life has been very lonely. I'm just always by myself. I barely have any meaningful adult relationships or experiences, or even any friends.
I work a 3-11 job in building maintenance at my company world headquarters building which I love, but again it's very lonely. I work the off shift so the building is always empty. I don't get normal social interaction with people my age or a chance to build relationships. I only have 3 older men as co-workers and we are mostly in the basement away from any people on the floors from knowing our existence. I always walk the floors and see office people laughing and chatting with their coworkers and I just don't have that kind of experience. And just.. no one knows I exist really. Everyone probably assumes I have a lot of friends, but I'm struggling inside with being so alone and trying to meet people and get past the "hi how are you?" "I'm good thanks" stage. Most people don't seem to want to talk beyond that. And most women are already in relationships and thus it would seem weird to approach them in an office setting trying to get to know them deeper. But man those "hi how are yous" are the only real interactions I get during my day.. so thus I decided to come here lol. Rant over, sorry! I promise I'm not a downer. 😅
Now for some things about me!
As you can tell, I am very mature for my age and am polite and have good grammar which unfortunately not everyone my age does anymore lol. I am not active at all on social media/internet culture really and don't know much about all the slang the younger people these days use. I feel like I'm 50. 🤣
I am left handed which is pretty cool. I'm not much of a party person or a drinker, I much prefer a quiet night at home and maybe a beer or two on a weekend but that's about it. I am simple and stay out of drama and trouble and don't get much into politics or other things that cause drama with people. I much prefer a relaxing campfire and a night at home and to just let the world keep on turning haha. I consider myself pretty intelligent and mature, especially for my age which is why I'm open to older ladies.
Physically I'm 180 pounds, have brown hair, green eyes, and a typical build. There's a few pictures on my profile.
Some of my hobbies are:
• Photography
I have a Nikon D200 and D5500 that I love to shoot with. I love nature scenes, abstract, black and white/goth kinda photography, sunsets, etc. it's so fun to just let your mind explore. It's not about what camera you have, but those who are behind the camera! I'm gonna try and photograph the northern lights tonight!
• Cooking and baking
I loveeee to cook and bake! I enjoy making various meals but also love to just have a frozen pizza once in awhile or something like that. I recently made homemade chili which turned out great. I love to bake, especially in the fall! I love pies, cakes, pastries, cookies, etc. I restored a vintage KitchenAid mixer that needed tbe gearbox rebuilt. Eventually I would love to practice home canning my own food.
• Music
Oh my gosh, I like so much!! Alternative rock, punk, post punk, electronic, synth pop, psychedelic rock, hard rock, etc. I am very non judgemental and open when it comes to music. My three current favorite bands are Type O Negative, Joy Division, and the Cure.
• Nature walks and camping
I really enjoy camping, making fires, and relaxing by a campfire. I love to take walks outside and just enjoy the beauty and simplicity of nature. It's wonderful, especially in a world so focused on everything digital.
• Repairing things
I'm a maintenance guy and one of my hobbies is electronics repair so I am good with my hands and just all around good at troubleshooting and fixing all sorts of things around the house. Last week I helped my elderly neighbor get his tractor started, it needed a new component in the starting circuit. So I'm pretty handy which... Comes in handy! 😂
• Autumn 🍁
This isn't a hobby per say, but man do I love the fall!!! It's my absolute favorite time of the year. Oh my gosh. The beautiful colors, crisp cool air, misty and foggy days, rain, lack of bugs, being cuddled up with a candle or by the fire drinking a tea, etc. I love it! There's only two seasons for me. Fall, and waiting for fall! Haha.
• Scented Candles and incense
Going along with my love for fall, I absolutely love candles! I have like 30 something lol. 😂 Currently my favorite are WoodWick, which are owned by Yankee candle. They have such a soothing crackle and the scents are great! I also love to burn incense from time to time as well. I have cottagecore hippie vibes.
• Old houses and architecture
I love old houses! Especially 1900s and Victorian era homes. Old homes have so much character to them and are just so beautiful from a time when people took pride in their craft. I strongly dislike the modern cookie cutter cheap construction of homes today. I would love to live in an old home one day. I also love their architecture and uniqueness, as well as architecture of old cathedrals and other buildings.
• Relaxing
Basic I know, but sometimes on the weekend I just love to get cozy in bed and relax and put on a YouTube video or an album! 😊
That's about it for me, I'm a pretty laid back and simple person. My ideal person is someone who is respectful and honest! I am very straightforward and open minded and would hope that you are as well.
If I seem interesting to you at all I would love to hear from you!
Thank you so much for reading.

2024.05.15 04:22 Training_Survey4889 enclosure feedback!

enclosure feedback!
Hi all! I’m showing my setup for my Syrian hamster, King Arthur 👑 Arthur is about 6-8 months old and I adopted him around 2 months ago; we love him very very much!! Arthur was adopted a month or so after we lost our first hamster, a brown European female named Fancy, who lived for almost three years and was also loved very dearly!! I wanted to show my current setup to get some feedback on things I could do to incorporate more layers for him to climb on, or if everyone thinks this is sufficient for enrichment and health/ventilation purposes. He really likes to climb so I want to give him the safe means to do so if possible. He doesn’t display any sort of cage rage or stir-crazy behaviors, he gets supervised playtime in a large floor-pen, and he seems to be in perfect health. He’s got a super sweet temperament and is very active at night. His tank is a 55 gallon aquarium filled with paper bedding, dried calendula, dried rose hips, timothy hay, coco peat and moss (his cage usually has some aspen shavings in there as well for moisture control and structural integrity for his tunnel systems, but we just did a clean and are waiting for more to get delivered). Nothing in his cage is cedar or pine. He eats a huge variety of biologically-appropriate foods and is a good eater, water-drinker and forager. He seems happy but I want to give the lil guy the world!!
Let me know what your feedback is! Thank you! 🐹

2024.05.15 02:04 VeterinarianIll4989 Urgent help needed

I have had red itchy small vesicles around my thigh area, feet and hands for a while.
Didn't think much of it at first but as the itch became unbearable about 2 weeks ago I started scratching, at first we (my roomie and I, (29 and 25 y.o respectively) thought these were scabies, we had a problem a few months back but it passed after we used a sulphur mix cream she got from the hospital.
So I was thinking maybe mine just wasn't treated probably but now I don't think that's the case, the closest thing I could find online that resembles what mine look like is dishidrosis, not scabies because the marks aren't in a line which would suggest burrowing, and the dishidrosis itself probably came on from some sort of fungal infection, explaining the pustules and itching on areas other than my hands and feet.
My friend had itchy hands and feet prior to me for a while too, but she said this happens to her every year and she sheds a few layers of skin too so I don't think this was transmitted by her.
I'm sorry for the erratic thought train that I'm writing here but for the last 2 nights my dumbass decided to put wood ash and water mix to my thighs and legs, the places where I had scratched and fucked my skin up the most, and i can genuinely say that i know what being tortured feels like now.
But I persevered because I was thinking it was good for me. Until the second night (the night I'm writing this) I just woke up after going to sleep an hour ago. Before going to bed I had rubbed the ash, waiting for an hour for it to do it's thing, took a shower with warm - relatively hot water, rinsed my lower body before leaving the shower with cold water and then went to sleep sizzling all over but no itches... (I didn't use any shampoo/soap just in case)
I just woke up with a tremendous amount of heat from my lower body (places that reacted the most to the ash), I couldn't contain myself because of the burn/itch/sharp pointed pain from my pores where I have the vesicles/scars, if I get in the blanket the fabric rubbing against my skin + warmth kills me, if I put my leg out it feels like goosebumps all over and everything hurts again.
I got up, put on some primrose oil cream on the parts, now it feels a bit better but I'm afraid this won't go away, and I'm afraid I don't know what the fuck is up with me
I have never had any condition like this before in my life.I couldn't go to a doctor because I don't have insurance right now and no money either.
I can share photos with you guys in DMS if you're interested in helping out.
Please.
Note:
First night with ash cream hurt less (still genuinely torturous, and the redness around the dots seemed to have gone, and the vesicles shrunk.
Second night with ash was much worse in terms of pain, and after waiting the same amount of time and cleaning, the pustules or the pores I guess, now are very much exaggerated, everything got bumpy.
I'd say the pain was an 8 on the belle Browne pain scale due to my shaking.
Some ash is still stuck to places where I had scratched my skin the most, if I scrub it in any way to take it out, I might even faint from the amount of pain, so I'm currently waiting for it to dry and fall.
