2024.06.09 12:44 Dear-Performance-394 Does a newly grad with high grades but no direct finance experience have a chance at finding a job?

Just graduated college with a double major in finance and marketing, but I’m definitely more finance oriented. I worked my ass off in college, getting a 3.94 GPA, only to realize it doesn’t matter at all, like not even one bit. I didn’t have a finance internship, due to a professor recommendation and a high pay, I was convinced to do more of a economic related internship. I didn’t realize how big of a mistake that was until I started looking for jobs. It’s by far my biggest regret of my life. It feels like I’m literally no more qualified than I was with just a high school degree for any job I’m looking for. I don’t think it’s even possible for me to get a good job. I think my only shot is to do another internship, but most listing for that require you to be a student still. I have no idea what to do. I cant even sleep because of this, as it is 6:37 a.m at the time of typing this. I also don’t have connections, a consequence of my severe anxiety.

2024.06.09 12:42 WwwWario Something I like and dislike about every Zombies game

Big fan of all of Zombies. Here's a quick list of one like and dislike from (almost) all of 'em, except for the "spin-offs" like the DS game, as well as MW3, as I haven't played them. I will also try to not include any points of them introducing a new core feature or being inventive as a positive, but rather look at the games on their own.
WAW: POSITIVE: Atmosphere is almost unmatched in the horror category, where the tone is perfect for a "simple, dark story but with something sinister and deep hiding underneath". NEGATIVE: Simply the lack of polish. Bugs are present, Zombies collision isn't great, etc.
BO1: POSITIVE: Extremely great tone of the story. Here, the story present is (imo) the PERFECT blend of groundedness and mystery. Secret experiments, visual storytelling, and hints towards deeper secrets are all present without overdoing it or shoving it in our faces. NEGATIVE: BO1 has probably the overall weakest weapons in the series, damage wise, making weapons quickly drop off in usefulness and forcing you to earlier use of traps and wonder weapons alone
BO2: POSITIVE: Incredible variety in gameplay. You have everything from the open Tranzit, to Mob of the Dead and its incredible story-driven gameplay, to Buried being one of the biggest sandboxes we've ever seen, and more. It also has Grief and Turned, and has an amazing variety in weapons. Variety is BO2's strength imo NEGATIVE: Honestly, missed potential. Tranzit could have been so, so much more. Grief could have been greatly expanded, and so could Turned. We could have gotten more survival maps. The list goes on
BO3: POSITIVE: The overall strongest maps in the entire franchise, imo. The maps are colorful, extremely varied, PACKED with content and side quests and map-specific weapons, beautiful cutscenes, and more. NEGATIVE: Imo, BO3 has the overall worst weapons in the series. Not in terms of power, but in terms of how fun they are to use. So many of the base weapons feel like plastic, and feel way too similar to each other. Weapons like the VMP sounds like it's on mute when you fire it. It did get better with DLC maps, however.
AW: POSITIVE: Movement and the chaos. High rounds in AW Zombies feel chaotic and where you're always on your toes. It's hectic and surprisingly fun. NEGATIVE: All maps feel very samey. Atlas, all of it. The maps don't really stand out from each other at all.
IW: POSITIVE: The care and passion clearly being put in. You can see it in the amount of content each map has and their variety. It's clearly this was made with a lot of passion. NEGATIVE: The story. Even if it's supposed to be goofy and Scooby-Doo-like, I don't think it really nails it still. The characters imo are uninteresting, and the story doesn't seem to know if it wants to be taken seriously or not.
WW2: POSITIVE: Easily the unique PaP effects. Almost every gun does something unique when PaP'd instead of just becoming stronger, which is a MASSIVE positive, and makes almost all weapons exciting to use. NEGATIVE: Honestly... Strange game design choices. Such as how the PaP in Shadowed Throne cannot even be opened without explosives, making you almost stuck if you choose a Throwing Knife as your grenade. There are many of these design choices all around the game.
BO4: POSITIVE: Similar to BO3, this game has amazing variety in maps and gameplay. Everything from Blood of the Dead (which may just be the most content-packed map in the entire franchise) to the more simple Alpha Omega or Classified, we have TONS of variety in tone, difficulty, complexity, and even characters. NEGATIVE: The game taking water over its head. BO4 was a strange game. Factions were promised but never implemented. They tried to introduce a new story alongside wrapping up the famous Aether story. The budget was cut massively on the last two maps. You spawn with special weapons instead of earning them in-game. Overall just a "messy" feeling for an otherwise amazing Zombies game.
BOCW: POSITIVE: Easily the best movement and core mechanics we've ever seen. Moving around feels like a breeze, and the system of salvage, weapon rarity, support streaks, crafting table, and more all flow together perfectly. It gives you more to work towards than ever before, it gives points much more of a purpose than ever, the feeling of progress is better than ever, and it all works wonders together. NEGATIVE: The sheer lack of personality. If you compare CW's maps to BO1-4, it's a night and day difference. Going from something like Der Eisendrache and Blood of the Dead with rich atmospheres, characterse and features, to CW's maps is staggering. CW's maps are bland, lack personality, and have almost no unique side quests to grant unique features like previous maps do.

2024.06.09 12:40 sameed_a how to improve critical thinking with design thinking?

Post 1:
Imagine this: you're a high school math teacher, struggling to get a group of disinterested 10th graders engaged in algebra. Their eyes glaze over every time you introduce a new equation. But then, one day, a eureka moment strikes. What if you could use design thinking techniques to improve their ability to think critically about math problems?
Instead of dishing out formulaic equations for them to solve, you start off your class with a real-world problem. You tell your students, "We're opening our own pizza joint, but we need to figure out pricing. We want to make three pizza sizes: small, medium and large. How do we decide the prices?"
Students begin the process with empathy, interviewing each other and people outside to understand how much they’d be willing to pay for the pizzas. They define the problem, ideate solutions and prototype their pricing models. Finally, they test their models, challenging and critiquing each other's pricing strategies.
Suddenly, math wasn't about monotonous equations anymore but a tool that can be used to solve real-world problems. The class was actively using critical thinking, expressing their own ideas, and understanding mathematical concepts at a deeper level. By using design thinking, you not only improved your students' critical thinking abilities, but also made learning an exciting process.
P.S. No Math teachers were harmed in the making of this hypothetical scenario. We do hope, though, that you got a slice of how you could use Design Thinking as a mental model in your daily life. And don’t worry, we are not opening a pizza joint.
Post 2:
Have you ever had to organize a surprise party in just a week? That was me, darting around like a headless chicken, trying to make sure everything was perfect for my best friend's 30th birthday bash.
After a day or two of chaotic planning, I realized I needed to approach this mess with a different strategy. I decided to leverage the concepts of design thinking to improve my planning and decision-making process.
I started with Empathy - I put myself in my best friend's shoes, trying to envision the kind of party she would love. I then Defined my problem – organizing a surprise party in a short time. I explored different Ideas for the location, theme, guest list, etc. Through Prototyping, I started putting together a rough plan of the party. I then Tested my plan by imagining the party from start to finish.
By using design thinking, I was able to unravel the knots in my mind and move forward with a clear plan. The party was a fantastic success, and my best friend couldn't stop raving about it.
P.S. No, this isn't a true story. (I don't have the nerves for surprise parties!) But hopefully, it paints a picture of how you can use design thinking as a mental model in your everyday problem-solving missions. It's certainly way more fun than running around like a headless chicken!

First: https://www.reddit.com/HFY/comments/14vo5lb/troublemakers_deaths_pity/

......
Go'mon stormed through the castle corridors. He'd sensed something slip beside him during his encounter with the vampire lord. It wasn't just that damned top hat with the thief's prints. No, it was more subtle than that, it was the sound of a gossamer chain rattling against cloth. He scanned every square inch of the hallways as he walked, slowly twirling the Warhammer in his off-hand as he calmly held the pistol muzzle-up towards the ceiling. He'd barely gotten a glimpse of what almost looked like mist as he stomped through the grand halls with paranoia-fueled, seething anger. Abruptly turning a corner he fired the revolver at what he thought was that pesky invisible parasite.
The shimmer shuddered and he switched to the visible spectrum to find out it was just a tapestry in front of a heating vent.
Go'mon let out an enraged scream, tearing the tapestry apart with his bare hands after casting his weapons aside in a fit of rage and impotence. The visage of Monarch D'vinn looking out from the top of a bombed-out hill in battered armor at the shattered remains of the once human-occupied city, being shredded like single-ply latrine paper by go'mon's molecularly edged cybernetic claws. Having spent his rage on the tapestry, he panted dramatically as his heart pounded in its cask. Turning around he let out another furious scream, howling madly as he scanned the hall with thermals. His Hammer and revolver had disappeared without a trace.
The sudden blare of a Klaxon made him pause as he adjusted his armor, forcing himself to calm down as he examined his molecularly edged claws. The main enemy was at the gates, he should go meet them.
...
Cassius' Heart pounded as he took shallow breaths, Go'mon's backplate inches from his own chest as he held onto the Hammer and Pistol for dear life. As the general strutted outside, Cassius moved in perfect synchronization, his left leg rising with the general's before being placed down in sync. He'd been practicing for weeks with the security droids at the mansion, practicing to keep inches from their backs without touching their metal carapace. Now he strutted behind perhaps the second most powerful being he knew like a silent specter. As Go'mon slammed through a door, breaking it into splinters, Cassius lifted his right leg and rotated out of the way just as Go'mon's tail would've brushed against his Calf, giving him away. As the General strutted out into the middle of the courtyard, Cassius used the various straps attached to his gambeson to affix the weapons to his waist before grabbing his Kama and weighted chain from a small pouch at his belt.
Cassius tossed the weighted end of the chain over the wall of the castle after a short run-up, wrapping the gossamer chain around his hands with each rapid step he took up the wall. Reaching the top, he unhooked the weight from the small bar he'd tossed it around quickly disentangling his hands from the chain. He groped the air on the outside of the wall until he touched the enchanted ladder the Top-Hats had left him. Sliding down the ladder, he spotted Drake sitting astride Barney in the middle of the street. The rest were nowhere to be seen but that indeed was part of the plan. Sprinting over, Cassius leaped onto Barney behind Drake and slipped Go'mon's revolver into the empty holster at his belt. Drawing out no reaction save for a few words from Drake, who didn't turn his head lest he give the gambit away.
"Good work Cassius, Fall back and get a gas mask on. We still don't know what's in those canisters because they inked out the labels."
Cassius slipped off of Barney's back and slipped into a nearby building before De-cloaking as he pressed himself against the wall next to a Warmonger who passed him a spare gas mask. He pulled it on and checked the seal before sitting against the wall as his legs jellied beneath him. His mouth was dryer than the scrubland as he accepted a Volunteer's canteen, drinking heavily through a port in the mask as he rode out the adrenaline crash. He glanced over to where their fighters had pried open a sewer access hatch and were dropping in, the smell of sewage souring the air. A few warmongers closest to the opening had comically attached wooden clothesline clips to their noses.
...
Caz lay atop the second-tallest building in Golgatha, trash and debris piled up around her for camouflage ash she drew a bead on the strutting Go'mon. Her god-given eyes were able to see the purple miasma that rose from him like mercury vapors. She didn't even turn her head as she softly asked.
"Distance?"
The man with Heavy cybernetic augmentations pulled casually from a large pouch of grain alcohol, camera-lense eyes extending from his face as he chewed on a bullet thoughtfully. Slowly he stated.
"One thousand five hundred and sixty-seven meters, If you're keeping it under auto-ignition velocity, you should be able to hold it one mil above and..."
The sound of the bullet in his mouth getting chewed filled the air before he stated.
"Two mils right, wind fluctuates between us and the target, expect a half minute of angle deviation."
Caz adjusted her optic, bringing the point of aim directly onto her crosshairs. The man next to her had called himself "an Olympian" an old sect of bionically enhanced warriors from even before the betrayal wars. In the small amount of time she'd gotten to know the man, she'd found him palatable at the very least, soft-spoken with a touch of crazy, it was refreshing. She tried to ignore the artillery-sized rifle he laid behind, the barrel itself bigger around than a drainage pipe, a suppressor of equally massive size almost protruding over the edge of the building. She watched from the corner of his eye as he pulled the breech open to the side and selected a shell thicker and longer than her forearm with a fused tip. He rammed it into the gun with the same ease she loaded her flechettes with.
They both had different jobs despite sitting on the same roof. She'd take care of anything on two legs, and he'd handle anything that had an armored skin. From her vantage point, she watched as the Agri-bots moved into position, planting their artillery pieces against the ground in preparation to fire. They weren't using High explosives much to Remin and Destrier's chagrin, but with their attack plan, they couldn't risk collapsing the sewers. They were instead armed with a chemical weapon known as "CS Smoke" which would obscure visual sightlines for anyone with unaugmented vision. Lucky for her and the Olympian, that wouldn't be an issue with her clear-sight and his advanced optics. She slowly swiveled her focus onto Drake, keeping the center of the crosshair off him as she watched him.
Sitting astride Barney, Drake looked every bit the warrior he was. His dark helmet and armor were almost lost in the dark night. But the red shock of his Helm's mohawk could not be mistaken, glowing brightly against the darkness. As his palm came to rest on the pommel of his sword, she saw something entirely different for a moment.
A warrior in battered, rusty armor, the flesh falling from his bones as a pair of white lights gleamed behind the helmet. A skeletal hand held a rusty sword in its sheath, Its pale, emaciated steed's head hanging low, milky eyes soulless and empty.
But as soon as she saw it, the image faded and she swiveled her crosshairs onto the castle's inner courtyard. A small, dim red light blinked on the side of the Olympian's skull as the Geknosians organized into fighting lines. Hulking Geknosians in overbuilt power armor manned emplaced turrets and the looming Gas generators. A small feed from the Olympian's perspective overlaid itself on her scope before minimizing to one corner. She watched as his crosshair fell onto one of the two Gallicks. The horseshoe-shaped APCs presenting their bulk to the gate as a bulwark. Caz switched her aim to a heavily armored Geknosian, slowly dialing the small wheel on the forend of her rifle to half-power, just under auto-ignition velocity. The geknosian seemed to get uncomfortable as her crosshairs landed on his chest, fidgeting at the controls of their AA plasma Beam-cannon.
The moment the Agri-bots fired their artillery, she'd remove him from the gene pool and take that AA gun out of the fight so Destrier could get into position.
...
Destrier and Remin ran last-minute checks on the small fleet of two-wheeled land vehicles the Top Hats had called "Dirt bikes." The variable electric powerplant produced little to no noise, even now, powered on and ready to roll they didn't even humm. Stepping back, Destrier let the forearms of his power armor clamshell close as he retook the hand controls. Contrary to popular belief, the hands of power armor weren't at all like gloves. A handle with a pressure sensor for each finger was clasped in his hands, allowing him to manipulate the hands of the armor like his own. Destrier turned his head, helmet whirring on its bearing as he watched Remin mount one of the Dirtbikes, the black scimitar strapped to the suspension of the bike within arm's reach. The old man's Mongolian lamellar draped over either side of the bike like fabric, small metal plates clinking and clattering softly as he pulled his fabric-wrapped helmet back on. Destrier clomped over, hardly noticing the backpack with over two hundred rounds of 13x110 mm HEP.
Remin looked up with a grin and met Destrier's arm halfway in a forearm-gripping handshake, their metal hands clanking together as they slid their arms back into a grip around the base of each other's thumbs, then to a normal handshake before waggling their fingers at each other.
Destrier chuckled softly and looked up at the sky, night vision lenses making it appear stuffed to bursting with stars.
"What's on the black samurai's mind?"
Remin asked softly, head tilted back to also look at the stars between the rooftops.
"Well... I'm looking forward to the fighting to finally being over... Maybe I'll finally be able to settle down and invent something with Martha..."
Remin chuckled softly.
"A noble goal... I'd expect nothing less from you Destri... I'm actually hoping to catch a ride back to human-controlled space. I'm too old for this shit, I want to settle down and live out the last years of my life in peace..."
Destrier nodded in agreement, slowly turning his gaze back to the helicopter, blades slowly turning in preparation for takeoff.
"How old are you Remin? I don't think I ever asked."
The old man paused, thinking for a long time.
"Oh... I'd say I've made it past a century at this point. Got a cybernetic heart when I was a kid thanks to a car accident, Ol' things been keeping me going far past when I shoulda dropped."
Destrier nods and laughs softly.
"Damn, and I thought you were only in your fifties."
Remin laughed in agreeance, setting his hands on the handlebars.
"I don't blame ya, I feel like it. Especially now that my legs aren't filled with creaky arthritis."
Destrier sighed softly, gently punching the old man's shoulder as softly as he could in his power armor.
"See you on the other side old man... whether that be the living side or the dead one."
"Here's to hoping it's the former not the latter."
Destrier chuckled his agreement and boarded the helicopter, making the landing gear compress slightly as he put his weight on the flight deck. Unhooking the feed chain from the side of the backpack, he clipped it into the Ma-deuce's feed chute. It whirred as the heavy cartridges were funneled down the chain and into the gun with a click and a clatter.
...
Barney shifted from one leg to the other beneath Drake, Death's chosen reaching down and gently patting his neck fondly as he softly whispered.
"Just a moment longer boy... There's someone I need to talk to."
Drake closed his eyes, letting the Darkness envelop him for a moment before opening them again.
He looked at Death, who was casually swirling a glass of black bourbon thoughtfully.
"You said you wanted to talk to me right before the battle?"
Death nodded and slid the glass of black bourbon his way.
"I did, I want you to drink this before you go into battle."
Drake picked up the glass, inspecting the pitch-black, inky liquid curiously. Before sniffing it and coughing as his eyes water.
"No offense, But I think something died in your liquor bottle."
Death laughed jovially, pouring his own glass from a red crystal decanter.
"That's because this is made from the blood of my predecessor. I thought i might as well get it out of the way."
Drake suspiciously looked at the glass.
"Okay, what happens when I drink it?"
Death paused, slowly swirling his own glass of black bourbon pensively. Then, he slowly knocked his own back, eyes dilating wide before returning to normal.
"Well, It should allow you to control your power, bypassing the decades of training most need."
Drake gave Death a side eye, sniffing the foul drink one more time asking.
"What's the catch?"
Death frowned, then set his glass down.
"Considering that it's going to completely restructure your magical and circulatory pathways. It's going to hurt like nothing you've ever felt before. It also may or may not bind your guardians to your soul."
Drake's head snapped up.
"Guardians... you mean my parents?"
Death nodded softly.
"Guardians, souls that loved someone so much that they remained on after death to watch over them. Your parents loved you... loved you enough to stand by your side even in death... and before you give me some bullshit about this not being what your parents would want... Remember, they'll always be at your side until you die one way or another."
Drake slowly swirled the bourbon before nodding softly, bringing it to his lips, he downed it in a single gulp. It burned on its way down, the tingling feeling intensely spreading throughout his body and to his fingertips in a moment. His nerves burned, and his very being felt as though it was being scalded by burning hot water. But as he set the glass down on Death's desk, he smiled softly. There was a warmth to the pain, like a cold rag against a feverish forehead. The sting of a garlic poultice applied to a fresh whip-wound. It was the crack of his father's wooden sword against his knuckles during their sparring, the sweat that would drip into his eyes on long evenings working the fields. Drake opened his eyes slowly, no longer sitting in Death's office, but his own soulscape, looking at the long-neglected buildings halfway through construction. But he wasn't alone.
Drake smiled at his mother and father. His mother gave him a soft smile as she touched the scar across his face, the wound in his cheek where a gauss slug had torn it open, then, she took his hand to gently touch the scarred wound where Garravan's knife had pierced his hand. His father just sat cross-legged, drinking a stout mug of scrub tree tea with a proud smile on his face. drake looked between them before holding out his hands.
As his parents took them, they dissolved into motes of light that drifted into his chest. His veins burned, and his eyes and nose bled. His entire existence felt like a blistering inferno as the ground of his soulscape rumbled, small, red flowers the color of blood and the shape of gunshot wounds popping up from the ground. But even as the pain grew, and grew, and grew, He found himself simply laughing, grabbing what felt like an invisible pair of chains and pulling up on them as he stood.
The ground erupted in the middle of his soulscape, a massive, gnarled oak tree sprouting from the ground. Its sturdy trunk protecting a small patch of pink carnations interspersed with curly-petaled white Gardenias. Drake felt something form atop his head and reached up, feeling a thorny crown, he gently pulled it off, looking at the black-petaled roses fondly before returning it to his head. The thorny veins grew down from the crown, snaking their way deep into his flesh only to bloom into what felt like new muscles and tendons that weren't attached to his physical strength. Looking at his upturned palms, he curled his fingers, a steady, smokeless pale flame popping into existence in his palm with next to no effort.
As the pain subsided, Drake closed his eyes, relishing its departure before opening them to the shocked and concerned face of Death. Drake gave him a curious look and Death coughed softly as he composed himself before speaking.
"Look, I know I can hide pain well... But that smile you get when you're hurting is capital C Creepy."
Drake touched his grinning face with a soft laugh, wiping a trickle of blood from his nose.
"Well, guess I can add that to my achievements list, Creeping Death out with a smile."
They both chuckled softly at the joke before Death sighed softly.
"You should get back to them, they're almost ready."
Drake nodded and stood, stepping over to the door.
"Wish me luck."
"Good luck, my Champion. Give them hell."
Drake smiled softly and stepped out the door. When he opened his eyes, he was back in the real world, staring up at Go'mon who'd perched himself atop the castle wall, eyeing Drake hungrily.
Giving Go'mon his signature grin, He reached up and depressed a countersunk button on the side of his helmet.
"Hit 'em"
Drake stated, the sound of artillery rocking the city as Go'mon's hungry look quickly turned to rage. There was a loud, screeching whistle as the artillery shells streaked in, blanketing the area in stinging fog. Drake drew his sword, extending thorned vines of power into it as the blade ignited with pale flames. Barney snuffled excitedly and roared as Drake nudged him forward, the Dinosaur leaping over the wall in a single bound. The final battle for Golgatha had begun, after this, they would either be free...
Or they will have died free.

2024.06.09 12:32 von-cronberg What am I supposed to do?! Cannot work because I am disabled, but have to work. How do people survive?!

Well, my dad just passed away, and he was supporting me financially. I don't believe my mother knew the extent of how much he was providing me with. He died rather suddenly and didn't create a will or anything. I told my mom he was supporting me, and she said that's ok she can still help me out. But she's only sending $500/mo. My apartment is $1800/mo! I spend >$1200/mo on food because I am disabled (AuADHD and genetic obesity) and rely heavily on grocery and meal delivery services. I told her I need atleast $2500/mo to survive, and she scoffed at me. 'What do you expect me to do, spend my retirement money on you? Have you considered getting a job?'. Of course I have! I am disabled! What is so hard to understand about that?!
I'm 29 years old and haven't worked in years. I've been looking through job listings. Amazon is hiring, I will only be making $16/hr. Keep in mind I haven't worked in years, am obese and this job involves a lot of standing. I didn't think I'd ever work again due to my disability. What has this world come to? It's ridiculous that society doesn't even want to support people like me financially - or at the bare minimum provide a clear path for me to be able to work as much as I am able to support myself. I should be able to have my rent and food taken care of worry-free, whether or not it entails work. But it's impossible, instead I will end up homeless and starving if I do not work for a low $16/hr, and even if I do work 50 hours a week for $16/hr I will still be on the brink of homelessness and starvation.
Even if I apply for disability and am accepted after a long wait, I still wouldn't even be able to support myself off of the monthly allowance it provides. The $1400/mo I'd get is 90% of my food budget. I would literally be starving if I spent any less on food. So is that what they want me to do? Starve?!
Any advice would be helpful. Thank you

2024.06.09 12:29 callumw2_0_0_1 I avoided PEM for 4 months straight. So what are the results?

I posted this in the CFS sub, but I read here sometimes, in case anyone has any improvements themselves or to learn what worked for people.
I'm not claiming to have long-covid, but I do have ME/CFS, which I think many people do have here so I'm posting it here too for those people. I had no gut related issues / I have no experience with pain or neuropathy or any other long covid symptoms that are not ME/CFS.
Given that my situation and the situation of many people here are pretty much the same, I'm sure there's some benefit to posting. After all, I sometimes gain from reading posts here.
22M
Slow onset, which started hardly noticable when i was 20 years old. Came on over the span of 6 + months. At the time, I was exercising 15 hrs / week, working 40 hrs / week and doing a degree at the same time. It's possible my body accumulated so much stress that it just shut down, and that onset my CFS. I believe I had a preventable case if it was caught early, something 1 - 3 months of rest could've corrected, but I was experiencing some form of symptoms for almost a year before I recieved a diagnosis and by then it was far too late.
I read this subreddit a lot, mainly looking for recovery information more than anything. Sometimes I comment, but I never post, so I may aswell join in.
I've heard many things out there, that if I prevent crashing, I actually have a good shot at recovery or improvement. One thing for sure, is that the PEM keeps you in it, or can even make you worse. So what if I just stay perfectly within my energy envelope?
Of course, that's easier said than done, it's not an easy task to perfectly avoid PEM, it requires a strict adherence to many things, and not much room for error.
Back in the middle of February 2024, I set out on a mission to do exactly this. My goal is to go 1 year straight without PEM, and to see if I can regain my life back.
I believe I'm milder than many people here, but hopefully my personal experience can induce some thoughts in people here. Any hope is good, after all.
A full history of my symptoms, from my worse days probably last summer, to now are as follows. (some not present anymore, some only in PEM.)
Fatigue Insomnia (I went up to 3 days at a time unable to sleep) Brain Fog Muscle Weakness Breathlessness Headaches Sore Throat POTS Tarchadyia after eating Carbohydrates Dizzyness Light-headedness Tightness of the chest / unable to take a full deep breath Night sweats / constantly hot Wired feeling / inability to relax Sexual Dysfunction (If someone else suffers from ED please tell me because nobody talks about it, it can't just be me)
My starting baseline at the start of the year, in which I had to do to avoid PEM was as follows: 16 hours laying down / in bed to some degree, ~ 3000 steps per day. Unable to work, university from home. Although if I ate particularly garbage food it could be even less than that.
4 months later, avoiding PEM completely:
Today, 11,500 steps, 8 - 9 hours a day in bed. Regular sleeping pattern. Still doing university from home, no work. At baseline, I feel 80% - 90% normal. I tire out quite easily still, and if I do activity too close to bedtime, eat too close to bed time or break from my strict schedule, I can tell. I'm still far from being able to do what I want. I can't be careless at all.
My number one pacing tool without a doubt is my Garmin watch. It's scary how accurate it has been for me at avoiding PEM, and without this, I don't think I could have done it so perfectly.
The changes I made in my life, which has reduced the stress on my body, and improved my HRV according to my Garmin was:
Building my life around sleep. Sleep is the priority. I sleep at the same time every night, no exceptions. Blue-light glasses No technology within 1 hour before bed time Vagus nerve stimulation before bed with TENS device, basically some cheap bootleg neurosym because I can't afford neurosym. 1 hour of stretching each night Not eating at least 3 hours before bed, but generally the further i eat from bedtime, the deeper the rest I get. Keto diet, my body handles carbohydrates so terribly that this was a gamechanger. Acupressure mat Keeping my room as cold as possible I tried ice baths, which at first made me crash. Now I can use them without a crash, but they suck to get in and im not sure how big the benefit is. I think there is some, but perhaps I'll use it again in the future.
All of these things have one common goal, which is to maximise my parasympathetic nervous system, and give me as deep of a rest as possible. It's been very successful so far.
Medications & Supplements I use:
Diphenhydramine 50mg, which I use sparingly for sleep. If I'm concerned a crash is coming or some insomnia develops, I use this. It's addictive and not meant for long-term use so I can't use it all the time. I've dodged some PEM episodes with this though i'm 100% sure of that. It definitely works.
The most impactful:
Magensium Fish Oil for Omega 3s Ashwagandha Vitamin D
Secondary (Not sure how well these work, but I'm using it anyways): Vitamin B12 Vitamin C High Dose Vitamin B1
I was going to wait either 6 months or one year to make a post like this, but I may aswell make it now.
I know this improvement isn't just some luck, because before I stopped getting PEM, and made these changes, I was actually getting progressively worse over time. So this last 4 months is the first time I've actually changed my trajectory.
Any questions below are welcome.

2024.06.09 12:23 Odd-Crab7707 Serious Allegations about Danny

Serious Allegations about Danny
I want to preface this by saying that this is not a joke, I'm not one to joke about serious matters like this and it would be insensitive and rude to do so.
I also want to make it very clear that these are allegations, I understand that without hard proof of a confession, claims like this shouldn't be treated as hard fact, and I wouldn't expect people to do so, but I do think that the evidence available right now is strong enough for this issue to be seriously considered.
I believe that at some point, during the Summer of 2008, Danny Gonzalez kidnapped Neil Patrick Harris and stole his identity, replacing him as the actor for his character 'Barney Stinson' in CBS Sitcom 'How I Met Your Mother'
I understand that some people might think that this claim is ridiculous, after all, 'How could he have gotten through NPH's A-list body guards' 'How could he have even gotten to Los Angeles, where the show was filmed, from his childhood home in Wheaton, Illinois', 'Where could he have possibly hid former broadway star Neil Patrick Harris'
But I feel that, with all the evidence available, there is enough proof to substantiate this claim, or even to force Danny to properly respond to it.
Firstly, I feel like the similarities between them are two great to ignore, both are American-born media personalities, both did theatre work during high school (with NPH even working on Broadway at certain points); and both, and (while their ages are fairly far apart), given Danny's age, NPH is likely about as old as Danny's parents.
This means that if Danny tried to assume Harris' identity, it wouldn't be difficult for him to do so because of how similar his and his parents' life were to NPH's
And the timelines also match up:
The Summer of 2008 and 2009 was between seasons 3 and 4 of How I Met Your Mother, and there is a noticeable change in Barney's personality during this period. Before season 4, Stinson was a serial womanizer who didn't have feelings for anyone or anything, but season 4 portrays him very differently, as a hopeless romantic yearning for a woman (Female lead Robin Scherbatsky), but not having the courage to take action.
This sort of change would occur if a different actor assumed the role of Stinson during this time.
Also, the Summer of 2008 was near, right after Danny Gonzalez moved back to the United States from the UK, where he had lived with his family before for a few years. Neil Patrick Harris lived in the United States during this time, and during the summer he would likely have been residing in his childhood home in New Mexico. Is it really a coincidence that as soon as Danny came back from the UK, NPH's acting style suddenly changed?
Now you may think 'But didn't Danny live in Illinois? How could he have gone all the way to New Mexico, well in Illinois, the minimum age for a driving learner's permit was 15, which Danny would have been at the time, meaning that Danny could have hijacked his car and driven it to New Mexico, under the guise of 'education'.
Also, take a look at these pictures:
NPH as the title character in 1989-1993 Sitcom 'Doogie Howser'
Danny Gonzalez as the title character in Youtube Channel 'Danny Gonzalez'
The first image is of NPH as a child in a different sitcom, 'Doogie Howser', in which he plays a genius child doctor. The second is Danny. Take a look at the resemblance, they have the same eye colour and eyebrow structure. They have the same hair colour and ear shape. They look practically identical.
NPH as 'Barney Stinson' in CBS sitcom 'How I Met Your Mother'
Look at 'him' as Barney Stinson after Summer 2008, HE LOOKS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. He looks nothing like his young self, has much brighter hair (not shown in the image), and is holding a glass of alcohol, which he did not as a child.
Think about it logically, why did NPH previously look just like Danny before the Summer of 2008, but look just totally different after, The only logical explanation is that after Danny abducted him, he didn't want people to be suspicious about there resemblance and thus tried to change his appearance so that he wouldn't get busted for his crime.
We know that Danny is a master of disguise from the whole Troy Becker or Ned Flames thing, did you ever stop to think where he learned those skills? He learned it from his previous experience pretending to be NPH.
But theres only one question left to ask, Why? Why did Danny go through all this trouble to replace Neil Patrick Harris, how would doing such a thing benifit him?
Well you have to thing about it critically.
I already mentioned NPH's other show 'Doogie Howser', in which he played a genius child doctor who would save lives through his medical expertise. The show put NPH and his talent at the forefront of American conciousness and made millions of American expectant parents hope that their child could be a medical or acting prodigy like Howser or NPH were.
The show ran for 4 years until the very year before Danny was born, meaning that Danny's parents likley would have watched it. This would lead them to hope that Danny would be an acting or medical genius iun the future, which he would not. This was probably the reason that Danny got into theatre, because he wanted to impress his parents by being like Neil Patrick Harris.
Eventually, he would've grown frustrated at his inability to make his parents proud by being a successful actor or child-doctor, and would see Harris as a symbol of his failure to acheive these goals. In the end, he would decide that the only way to become Neil Patrick Harris, would be to become Neil Patrick Harris.
Then, during the season break, Danny decided to strike. He used his newly gained learner's permit to drive down from Illinois to Albequerque, where NPH lived, before kidnapping and stealing his identity, replacing him as Barney Stinson in CBS sitcom HIMYM, and taking on all of his future acting roles.
Over time he would learn to disguise himself, and would later develop an internal split personality. He would wake up some days thinking he was Danny Gonzalez and others thinking he was Neil Patrick Harris, and at some point mabye he began to believe he really was Neil Patrick Harris, we cannot know or look too far into the twisted inner palace of Danny Gonzalez's mind.
Danny: if your'e reading this, I want you to know that what you're doing is NOT RIGHT. I know it'll be hard to admit the truth after all this time and I bet that you think that you got away with it, but you have to and you didn't. I don't think you're a bad person, just that you made a terrible mistake due to abuse and frustration, and I understand it. But listen: you owe it to your millions of fans, the people around you, and Neil Patrick Harris's real family to be honest. There are people, real people, who are suffering because of your selfish actions, and who you have the power to save from their greiving.
And if by any chance, Neil Patrick Harris is still alive, I beg of you, please let him go.
I know itll be hard, but in your silence you're only incriminating yourself. The best option for you is to either dispute the allegations or to cooperate with the proper authorities.
The choice is your's

2024.06.09 12:21 Fresh-Midnight-9540 POTENTIAL Crypto Hair Loss Scam: Hair Dao & Illegal Human Clinical Trials with Chemotherapy drugs

POTENTIAL Crypto Hair Loss Scam: Hair Dao & Illegal Human Clinical Trials with Chemotherapy drugs
I want you to take a seat back and give this post some time. Or, just look at the points in the TL;DR section of this write up.
Hair Dao, a crypto project claiming to revolutionize hair loss research, operates as a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) using blockchain technology and smart contracts. Despite its bold claims, Hair Dao has raised significant concerns. Led by a researcher named "Jumpman," the organization has conducted illegal human trials using unapproved chemotherapy drugs obtained through "group buying" from China, without safety or ethical oversight.
Alleged collaborations with Dr. Claire Higgins from Imperial College London appear dubious, as she denies knowing "Jumpman." Operating in the largely unregulated crypto space, Hair Dao faces substantial compliance risks with the SEC and FDA. The project’s co-founders are connected to crypto venture funds with suspiciously high returns.
Efforts to create credibility through legitimate researchers are overshadowed by their community's harassment tactics against YouTubers. Traditional funding methods for hair loss research offer more transparency and safety than relying on cryptocurrency. Given these red flags, I'd be skeptical and avoid the hype surrounding Hair Dao.
https://i.redd.it/7prd6rduti5d1.gif

Get some Popcorn...

Every so often, the hair loss community gets swept up by a new trend or treatment that, despite having only minimal evidence, often a mere mouse study, convinces many to invest in the latest product. Examples include Bioner's CosmeRNA, HairGuard's Growband, and potentially Niostem. However, none of these quite compare to the latest around a Crypto Token known as "Hair Dao."
Real quick, wtf is a dao? A dao, or Decentralized Autonomous Organization, is a type of organization represented by rules encoded as a computer program that is transparent, controlled by organization members, and not influenced by a central government. Daos are typically built on blockchain technology, like Ethereum, and operate using smart contracts, which are self-executing contracts with the terms of the agreement directly written into code. Keep in mind the decentralized aspects of this.
So, what exactly is Hair Dao? According to its creators, it’s a "Decentralized Science" Crypto project that claims it will "cure hair loss" by taking over the role of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the realm of hair loss research and early development. The NIH is a well-established U.S. government agency known for its role in funding scientific research. Hair Dao's ambition is nothing short of revolutionary—or at least, that's what they assert. In fact, its cringe and seems like... well your honour... a scam?
let's play a game

Some So Some Crypto Bros and their Crypto Venture Capital Firms.... umm ok

For further insight, you can refer to this article from Foster Cove Capital, a Crypto Venture Capital (CVC or VC) Fund owned by one of the co-founders of Hair Dao (by the way, is that even legal? what's the legality behind that one?):
https://www.fostercovecapital.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Internet_to_DAO_Comparison_Article.pdf
The article from the crypto VC states that government institutions often operate with significant inefficiencies in capital usage: so they think that these organizations when it comes to research are wasting money. Hair Dao aims to address this inefficiency in the hair loss research sector, suggesting that the government’s role in funding and regulating could be ripe for disruption. They liken their potential impact to companies like SpaceX and Anduril. However, such comparisons seem overly ambitious and here's why.....

Regulations

SpaceX and Anduril operate within rigorous regulatory frameworks. SpaceX collaborates with NASA and complies with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to ensure safety and operational standards in space travel. Similarly, Anduril works closely with the Department of Defense, adhering to national security regulations. In stark contrast, Hair Dao, as a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), exists in the largely unregulated cryptocurrency space. The article itself acknowledges that this lack of regulatory clarity could pose significant risks, especially concerning compliance with U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations. This could lead to serious legal and financial challenges for both investors and the project's founders. Also, it raises some questions regarding ethics and the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) which we will get into now...
Funnily enough, the Foster Cove Capital PDF article states that that regulation would help the government tax and make money off of DAO technology. This is very dumb. Let me say this, asking for government regulation of DAOs does nothing but turn you into a typical company on the stock exchange. You are bound by how fast you are making money, and due to the Consumer Identification Program FEDERAL LAW, anyone using DAOs and Cryptos must be identified by the government as a means of providing security to these trades.
The next crypto venture capital is owned by the other co-founder. ughhh lets see how fishy this one is... https://www.bizantine.capital/about3
i see it.... all of it!!
Their latest 2021 Annual Letter is a masterclass in financial acrobatics, so much so that it leaves me wondering if they’ve uncovered a secret trading algorithm, or perhaps a genuine crystal ball, that even the most seasoned Wall Street veterans would envy.
To say that Bizantine Capital had a stellar 2021 would be an understatement. Their self-reported returns are not just high—they're fucking stratospheric.
In 2021 alone, Bizantine returned +331.58%, outshining Bitcoin's respectable +61.18% and absolutely dwarfed the S&P 500's +26.89%.
Since their inception in April 2019, they've boasted an astronomical +2,626.39% return. That’s over 26 times the initial capital in less than three years.
To further scrutinize Bizantine’s claims, let’s juxtapose their performance with insights from a more grounded source: the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) Working Paper on private equity and venture capital funds. This pretty much shows how Bizantine is probably, if i were to bet, lying their asses off.
https://www.nber.org/system/files/working_papers/w28109/w28109.pdf
For buyout funds, the research finds little evidence of performance persistence, especially post-2000. Funds that were in the top quartile in previous cycles don’t necessarily continue to outperform in subsequent ones. This finding challenges the idea that past success reliably predicts future results—a cornerstone of many investment strategies.
In stark contrast, Bizantine Capital seems to defy this logic, suggesting that they consistently outperform regardless of market conditions. And we've seen crypto rise and crash..and crash...and maybe rise again?? many times within the last 5 years...
Bizantine Capital claims an Average Daily Return of 0.59% and a Standard Deviation of 5.58%, painting a picture of a wild rollercoaster ride compared to the S&P 500’s relatively calm 0.07% average daily return and 0.69% standard deviation. So in other words.... As Bizantine’s returns swing dramatically day-to-day, the S&P 500’s fluctuations are much more subdued.
And given these wild swings, Bizantine’s Sharpe Ratio stands at an impressive 2.000. The Sharpe Ratio is a key measure that helps investors understand how much excess return they're receiving for the additional volatility they're enduring. It's pretty much telling us how well an investment compensates for the risk it takes on. A higher Sharpe Ratio indicates better risk-adjusted returns, meaning the fund earns more return per unit of risk.
But, Bizantine's high standard deviation of 5.58% suggests significant daily volatility, which is usually a red flag for investors because it's implying a greater uncertainty and risk in the fund's returns. This high level of volatility means investors could experience substantial ups and downs. To me, this seems very inconsistent given their high Sharpe Ratio indicates they're generating VERY strong returns relative to this risk, Again, this is highly unusual and especially when this performance is done time and time again.
Zzzzz
Okay, enough with the finance talk...for now......

Hair Dao Researcher Involved with Group Buying and Illegal Human Experiments: The use of phase 1 chemotherapy drugs

Recently, Hair Dao found itself in controversial waters. One of their lead community researchers, known as "Jumpman," orchestrated an unofficial human clinical trial where individuals were persuaded to use phase 1 chemotherapy drugs among other compounds include on that the researcher claimed to have designed himself saying that it could potentially regrow hair on a bald scalp (according to some people in this groupbuy he literally just designed it and never tested it on a cell or any animal) to regrow hair.
These drugs, unapproved and largely untested in humans, were obtained through a "group buying" scheme. This method involved large groups of people pooling funds to purchase something from an entity: in this case drugs/chemicals from JennysChems, a Chinese company. Participants committed to buying specific drugs, which were then manufactured and shipped to them. So people essentially payed to be apart of a clinical trial that offered them no safety monitoring mechanisms and -...

Hair Loss Community Member using chemotherapy drugs to "regenerate" hair follicles. Dangerous and irresponsible. Bad science.

Hair Dao, wtf are you doing?

Well, there are allegations that one of the co-founders contemplated offering payments for blood work and "reimbursements" to those purchasing drugs through Jumpman’s chemotherapy group buy. Below are screenshots from their Discord server and Jumpman's Telegram, revealing these disturbing discussions. Essentially, Jumpman tells these people, many of who claim to have Post Finasteride Syndrome or distrusting of "Big Pharma" that by particpating in this groupbuy and using these chems, Hair Dao would be one step closer to the cure. Jumpman then encourages these people to upload their bio metric data to Hair Dao's "secure patient platform"
One of the co-founders (andy1) seemingly supporting of this group buying. Also, wtf? dsmo? that increases the absorption of WHATEVER you put on your skin...even chemotherapy drugs.....
real screenshot...
Jumpman states that Hair Dao will pay for the blood work for those that participate in the group buying
Perhaps this is the TM community that Andy1, a co-founder of Hair Dao, was talking about?
This is worrying because we essentially have Hair Dao co-founders and team researchers running an illegal human clinical trial. I wonder where their ethic ID/code is for this clinical trial? Well who cares... it can't possibly get any wors--
Well, Jumpman seems to be collaborating with an actual University Researcher from the Imperial College London named Dr. Claire Higgins. I say seems to because that's what Hair Dao states on their twitter
https://archive.ph/KVJgY
So, let me get this straight...this guy who was organizing an illegal human clinical trial is apparently collaborating with a University researcher along with that university's research department? Why would Dr. Claire Higgins, a briliant researcher, be associated with such a thing? It seems that she is working with Hair Dao on something and Jumpman has something to do with it, right? She must know who Jumpman is and what he's about? Right? RIGHT??
Well...probably not? In this video, a youtuber who had been dealing with harassment from members of Hair Dao's research team and discord server exposes that Dr. Claire Higgins denies knowing who Jumpman is (and she does this rather aggressively at that). https://youtu.be/n6LvAhxWJ64?si=AjEK5qrKHlWUq8wm&t=213 at 3:42
So, someone here is lying of over exaggerating something...and in either case is could defiantly count as a securities violation (US SEC).

So, where does this leave you?

Well... Just don't fall for their schemes. Honestly, think to yourself, what would the funding of hair loss research require CRYPTO at all? The most transparent thing these crypto bros could do would...well not make a crypto? And also register as a non-profit. In the United States, non-profits are required to state to the public on how they get their funds and use it. Simple. Shut. Done. You should not need to use crypto for this operation when you have websites like GoFundMe that can facilitate crowd funding.
They've been making some hardcore attempts to spread this crypto all over YouTube and members of their discord server have taken to harassing youtubers to support the crypto project. Don't be fooled by their donations and affiliations with some actual university researchers and doctors: this could very well be a case of credibility laundering, where, the association with legitimate figures somehow furthers the ethos of an individual/person. After all, do you remember Theranos? https://youtu.be/jIqF95qiQSs?si=Cv9hK-DcuOY1ypmg
Members of this server have even doxxed and created fake screenshots of youtubers all as a means to gain favor to push this project. Who would ever take this skibidi crypto serious?

2024.06.09 12:19 hardcoremediocre Nutritional guidance

Hi folks, I’m looking for some guidance. I’ve (40/M/South Asian based in UK) been informed that my blood work result indicates that I'm 1 mark off being pre-diabetic (type 2). So l'm not quite in the danger zone... yet! Seeing as I'm south Asian I'm very high risk - also my mother and grandmother have it. I want to ideally stay clear of it all together, as I already have several other health conditions (celiac, MS, hypothyroidism and antiphospholipid syndrome) that I'm managing so I don't really want to add diabetes.
Below is a typical food day - can anyone suggest what small changes I can make to help me reduce my blood sugar for my blood test in 3 months. Some things are obvious like don't eat the pizza l'm assuming...
Breakfast: Gluten free porridge with coconut milk. Topped with chia seeds, milked flaxseed and blueberries.
Morning snack: Apple and banana
Lunch: Winter - miso soup, with gf rice noodles, spring onions, boiled egg and tofu. Summer - cheese and avocado GF wrap with crisps.
Mid afternoon snack: Gluten free cereal or nut
Dinner: Homemade Mushroom risotto, OR homemade chilli con carne with white rice, OR frozen GF pizza, OR homemade spaghetti bolognese with GF pasta.
Thanks in advance

Japanese women live the longest; traditional "ama" divers catch crustaceans by hand.
This inspired my chicken soup of the sea: rice, shrimp and mackerel.
Can you guess which causes the longevity?

Summary

Ama (海女, "sea women") are Japanese divers famous for collecting pearls, though traditionally their main catch is seafood.[1] The vast majority of ama are women.
An optimal diet should imitate the diet of the world's longest-lived people: Japanese women. What sets Japan apart from runners-up such as South Korea is high shrimp consumption.
Longevity is sexy:
I cut the seafood-rice diet down to the absolute minimum:
An elimination diet, also known as exclusion diet, is a diagnostic procedure used to identify foods that an individual cannot consume without adverse effects.
An optimal elimination diet follows the pattern of recovering from an upset stomach:
  1. For fluid, drink hot water with a pinch of sea salt "tea".
  2. For fuel, start with white rice congee. After #6 add brown rice, pre-soaked.
  3. For fresh, have 50g frozen sea meat (shrimp) per day. The rest can be canned.
  4. For fat, have a can of ocean fish (mackerel etc) per day. Watch the mercury.
  5. For fruit, have a small orange with the plain rice (vit c).
  6. For veg, lightly cook some spinach leaves with the shrimp (vit b).
  7. For snack, have dried seaweed sheets and a handful of mixed tree nuts soaked overnight.
Take it one step at a time. These are sequenced in order of short-term priority to stay productive. Everything is low-FODMAPS except the nuts.
1-4 are like a healthier version of chicken soup: Both are high in methionine, salt and rice.
Methionine stops hunger. Eating less extends lifespan dramatically:
The exact manner by which calories are reduced changes across studies, but the animals’ calorie intakes are generally reduced by as much as half their normal levels. Depending on the species, the most promising results have shown lifespan extensions between 50 and 300%.
This diet can probably cut your calorie intake in half without trying, and your food budget as well.
A strong baseline makes it easy to detect harmful foods. You can thrive on just this, but why limit yourself? Establish a performance baseline, then introduce a new ingredient.

Intro

When I was a young man, I regarded cooking as a chore and simply wanted to eat healthy to gain muscle without wasting time. As a result, I ate a lot of Campbell's Chunky Soup and crackers. Not great for my sodium intake.
I sympathize with those who insist that a "minimum viable diet" should mean something simple and repeatable such as beef, potatoes and greens. Sounds great! If you're looking for lazy cooking, just learn some simple pressure cooker recipes. It does get more complicated than "throw tasty things in pot".
I might've continued as a culinary barbarian, had I not made some bad life choices, chief among which was taking a light course of Accutane, which is proven to cause Inflammatory Bowel Disease by aging epithelial stem cells. This caused my gut lining to gradually age, until I must now eat mush like an old man.
The struggle to find foods that didn't incapacitate me lead me to elimination diets and a journey into true minimalism, the meaning of which I hadn't appreciated before: not minimum cooking effort, but minimum digestive difficulty.
My eventual solution happened to align with the diet of the longest-lived people in the world – the Japanese. (Well, the women are longest-lived. The men work and drink themselves to death.) Apparently, the secret to their longevity is eating a lot of shrimp and rice. White rice is considered hypoallergenic, and shrimp induces satiety via methionine, permitting calorie restriction.
Doctors have been unable to label my condition with any specific diagnosis, despite extensive tests and endoscopy. So I believe my solution is generalizable to those without specific problems, who nonetheless find themselves plagued with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
The less energy the gut must spend on digestion, the more energy the brain has to focus productively. Ancestral hunter gatherers could afford to lie around after a big meal; office workers not so much.
Even healthy people may be interested in the productivity benefits of easy digestion. Soylent is popular for this reason. The aquatic ape diet is healthier, easier to digest, and much cheaper.
Soylent costs about $225 per month. In a typical day I eat:
As you can see, the AA baseline diet is slightly more expensive per calorie, but higher satiety so one eats less. If cost is a concern, you can easily cut to one small orange per day, dropping the price to $111 per month. Or replace oranges entirely with a vitamin c pill, which costs under 10 cents per dose. Then the cost would be $84 per month.
Most people don't want to eat minimally, and that's fine. However, those who hate cooking can keep the minimal ingredients at home, then indulge at restaurants. Or travel with Soylent and never miss a meal.

7 steps

Omnivore

Humans are omnivores. Thus a proper minimal diet will consume both plants and animals. Among mammals, even herbivores are usually opportunistic carnivores. Compensating for pure vegetarianism or carnivory complicates things considerably, as icebound Eskimos and smooth-brained koala vegans demonstrate.
Given omnivory, a minimal diet has three major requirements:
  1. Fuel: either eat enough carbs and fat, or burn your own fat.
  2. Fresh: for volatile water-soluble vitamins and animal protein.
  3. Fat: for fat-soluble vitamins and well-being.
These are listed in order of priority.
One can get water-soluble vitamins from lightly-cooked meat, if one eats the right animals or organs in sufficient quantities. However, it is usually easier to get them from fruits and vegetables.

1 Fluid

The Romans paid legionnaires in sea salt, leading to the expression, "Worth his salt". Without sea salt, humans develop goiters.
During a severe IBS episode, you often stop eating. That is fine, humans can fast for weeks. Just drink sea salt "tea" until your gut calms.
This staves off dehydration, but gets quite hungry. When ready to rise and cook, proceed to the next step. Until then, have a toothpick and relax. (Chewing on something is a good way to stop eating.)

2 Fuel

The first step of recovery is to have some bland white rice congee. It is usually the easiest thing to digest. (If not, try soaking or pick another grain.) Starch fuel prevents starvation, conserving body fat on skinny chronic IBS sufferers. You need enough calories to stay active.
Put a 1-2 handfuls of rice and generous water into the pressure cooker, then cook until congee.
Plain white rice does get boring. So alternate white with brown rice. Brown rice has insoluble fiber, which is hardest to digest. So start with just a pinch of brown rice in white, which will change the flavor of the pot enough to fool your brain. If you can tolerate insoluble fiber, then increase the ratio. Gas is a key sign you can't.
If you're constipated, increase the ratio of brown rice. Fiber keeps you regular.

3 Fresh

The next step is to consume healthy fresh meat. The healthiest sea meat is shrimp. Just a handful will induce satiety via methionine. Briefly auto-warm them in the pressure cooker until they curl into a c-shape, not o. (This is safe, because saltwater shrimp parasites can't transfer to freshwater hosts.) Eat the shrimp before cooling, and save the broth for the next rice pot.
Wild meat is healthier than farmed, and saltwater is healthier than terrestrial. Humans are primarily a littoral species, even today. Our hairlessness is an aquatic adaptation (hippos, elephants); chimps can't swim. Our other closest relative, the pig, is semi-aquatic like us, and shares many anatomical features such as nose shape and eye color. Pigs, not chimps, are the main animal source for organ transplants into humans.

4 Fat

Fat is the second hardest to digest, but the most rewarding. It's what puts a smile on your face and heat in your extremities. Fat soluble vitamins degrade slowly, so canned food is fine. Mackerel is incredibly cheap and delicious. At 13% fat, it is sufficient but not overwhelming to weak guts. The bones are easy to eat around. Save the broth for the next rice pot.
Watch the toxin accumulation. Maximum is 200g mackerel per day, due to arsenic. Try alternating with other fish, such as tuna, sardines and salmon.
If you have fat malabsorption, try putting cholestyramine powder in the rice pot preceding the fatty meal, and look into UDCA. Eating fat is essential to enjoy life. Hence the expression, "Fat and happy."

5 Fruit

Fruit poses two digestive challenges: fructose and insoluble fiber. We can dilute the former and minimize the latter.
Apples have lots of insoluble fiber, making them chewy. Oranges have little, making them juicy.
Fruit is full of concentrated sugar, and the fructose in particular can irritate weak guts. Sugar provides short term energy. Thus an orange complements a pot of white rice congee.
By itself, the congee is bland starch, which provides long-term energy and filling comfort. Eat the orange as appetizer, then the congee as main course. Having this twice per day is a treat.

6 Veg

Vegetables contain even more insoluble fiber than fruit. One solution is to cook them to mush, but this destroys their b-vitamins, the main reason to eat them.
The solution is to use a soft vegetable that can be eaten raw and is high in vitamin b. Parsley and spinach both work, and go nicely with shrimp. Just throw them both into the pot on auto-warm at the same time.

7 Snack

With diets, cheating is always a danger, so one should try to fulfill cravings with healthy snacks. Dried seaweed have the salt, crunch and complex flavor to satisfy the potato chip craving. A handful of mixed tree nuts soaked overnight satisfies the desire for something more substantial, and puts the pot to good use.

Beyond AAD

Congratulations, you've completed the Aquatic Ape diet! Now you can add whatever works for you.
Having a strong baseline means it's easy to tell when something makes you feel worse. Similarly, being malnourished makes it easy to tell when you eat something that was previously missing. Malnourishment is not a pleasant baseline, so I recommend the former!
I'm sure you're eager to get to the steak and potatoes. The Weston Price Foundation has many great recipes for healthy indulgence.

Regimen

Morning

  1. handful of unenriched white rice, pressure cooked to congee, eaten before cooling to avoid resistant starch. Small orange appetizer first.
  2. clean pot and dish
  3. 200g of wild-caught organic canned fish (no additives)
  4. in leftover broth, pressure cook longer a handful of white rice with pinch of organic tricolor brown rice (to fool blandness perception)
  5. clean pot and dish

Between meals:

Afternoon

  1. handful of unenriched white rice, pressure cooked to congee, eaten before cooling to avoid resistant starch. Small orange appetizer first.
  2. clean pot and dish
  3. handful of spinach and handful of wild-caught saltwater shelled shrimp (no additives) auto-heated to c-shape, not o-shape (that's overdone)
  4. in leftover broth, pressure cook longer a handful of white rice with pinch of organic tricolor brown rice (to fool blandness perception)
  5. clean pot and dish
The shrimp induces satiety for intermittent fasting.

2024.06.09 12:15 oistenvich UK Success Story (1 month)

A few of you might have seen me floating about on this subreddit over the last month. I had the same story told here so many times before, account suspended (May 7th) due to a linked instagram breaking the rules that wasn't mine and doesnt appear to exist on instagram. Today I finally received some recovery emails which allowed me to get back into my account. I don't know for definite what finally did it because I tried so many different things, there are a few I can say definitely didn't work so I'll just list them all below as I know some of these have worked for various other people:
WHAT I THINK WORKED:
I sent a letter addressed to Meta Legal at their Ireland offices about a week after the hacking using a pre action letter template on Money Supermarket, demanding access to the account as it had been suspended through no fault of my own. I also attached the IP logs you can download from the suspension page as they showed the account had been accessed from China and Vietnam when it had been taken down so it obviously wasn't me. I waited a week after delivery and heard nothing, so I sent a second letter
This time rather than addressing it to Meta Legal I just addressed it to Meta Ireland. Rather than using the template I set out clearly that as I was a UK citizen the UK Consumer Rights Act applied and this contains protections for Consumers who sign Digital Service Agreements (Including Terms of Service) which Meta had breached by disabling my account when I hadn't violated the terms of service. I told them I would accept the reinstatement of my account in order to avoid court action
Four days after delivery (today) I got a 2fa text and an email saying the email address on my account had been changed, and the usual option to select "this wasn't me". I pressed that and lo and behold the "we think you've been hacked" email came through and I was able to get back in and secure the account
It looks like despite disabling my account, the hackers were still able to run thousands of pounds in dodgy crypto currency ads for the whole time the account was down. This only goes to show how bad Meta's cyber security is as by taking the account down they took it away from it's rightful owner whilst still allowing the criminals open access to do as they please. It's crazy. I have also had access to facebook ads restricted by the look of it
Anyway, best of luck to anyone in a similar situation. You can get it back but the only way to do so is absolute persistence. They will not make it easy for you. And finally , F--- Facebook!
