Help with decluttering with ADHD

2024.05.16 20:03 Idiosyncraticloner Help with decluttering with ADHD

I'm autistic and ADHD, and I have a big issue with getting stuff I don't need because of impulsivity. I went through a clothing phase and now have about 6 60l boxes of clothing, shoes and bags, I went through a jewellery phase where I now have 3 jewellery boxes filled, and I had a bad book collecting phase where I ended up with 246 books until summer last year (I am down to under 100 books now because I bought doubles or triples of the same book thinking I didn't have it). It's like Confession of a Shopaholic but less designer, more alternative clothing and decor, and without the debt.
When I moved last year, the movers made a joke about my stuff being more than one person's worth, which was very hurtful. My current place has a lift, but it took 7 trips to get everything in with a folding hand truck and another person. I'm planning on moving in the next month and a half into a place with just stairs, and I don't want the same comments again.
My problem is that I have such guilt about getting rid of things! I don't know how to let go of whatever memory or emotion I have attached to having gotten the item. The Marie Kondo method does not work because I'm finding joy in remembering I have something. Example: I have a set of 6 pastel coloured teacups I bought last year - they are so kitsch and adorable (though I never use them) but I can't find the nerve to donate them because I love seeing the colour splash in my shelf. I also have stuff from my grandma that I can't part with because, well, they're a memory of her.
I want to try and reduce my stuff by at least 20% in the next month - I'm currently looking as a giant TK Maxx red bag filled to the brim with shoes, clothing, tech accessories, and bags, and ready to be donated tonight to my building's donation station. It's slow, but I want to make sure I do it right and not end up back at square one.
Can anyone help me out with some tips? How did you manage to let go of things and stop the worrying that you'll end up needing something? Were there any methods that you found really helped?
Thank you in advance!

2024.05.16 07:45 Bananagholem Truck noobie need help with oversized cargo

Just got an R1T as my first truck. Been doing a lot of renovations around my house and I need to consistently carry around random oversized cargo with the tailgate down (drywall, 2x4s, doors, etc). It seems impossible to find R1T specific information when it comes to this, and I have no truck experience prior so a bit confused as to the best solution. Will generic ratchet straps and ropes work? (something like this) Any recommendations for R1T specific equipment/accessories to help strap down large cargo would be greatly appreciated.

2024.05.15 20:36 QuetzelPretzal The Girl and the Guardian [portal fantasy - 1485 words]

This is the opening scene for a planned episodic series. The story centers around a young girl, Amber, who finds herself lost in a strange world.
As the opener to the first 'episode' of the project, I want this to hook the audience as much as possible. Characterization, prose, and dialogue especially are top concerns. Be as critical as you see fit, and please let me know if you find this interesting, or how you'd like it improved if not.
A heaving groan echoed off the grotto’s walls, making the still flora tremble. As the stone doors parted, the silhouette of a strange, horned creature funneled through the gap over the flowers. It squeezed past the opening, falling as it popped out the other side. It grunted, magenta body slowly moving to lift itself back to its feet. It gazed out onto the grove, feeling the ever-so-slight breeze that made the wily grasses sway in rhythm. The faint chirps and buzz of the forest outside seemed to dim, leaving the aging oaks inside to their silence.
The creature took down the hood of her jacket, freeing her straight-edged bob cut, and letting the scattered sunbeams freckle her hazel skin. The girl continued down the marble path, squinting inquisitively as she scanned. Ivies coiled up crumbling pillars, and flayed out across the inner walls like veins. Roots and daisies peeked through the path’s disheveled tiles as it weaved around trees, stones, and pedestals, before finally funneling into the mouth of a looming passage nested snugly in the earth. Tangles of moss draped from above, obscuring the faint, golden flickers of torchlight in its otherwise dingy abyss.
A sparkle drew the girl’s eyes to a still stream beside her, its only murmur the quiet trickle drooling from a limey aqueduct above. The girl took a quick swipe across its surface with the tip of her shoe, grinning at the tiny storm that rained over soft purples and blues sprouting from once slumbering lily pads.
Her attention then wandered to a more secluded corner. Past a few trees and shrubs lied a chaotic collection of stone structures, strange mounds that snaked in and out of the greenery that devoured it. She lifted a leg high, suddenly wondered how its mossy coat felt, and tripped, falling on her rear on the other side. She stood, swiping the grass stains from her cargo shorts, as she approached a collection of faceless, weathered statues all gathered around one another.

2024.05.15 20:07 WTF_Conservatives In defense of the slowest new car you can buy: Why the Mirage is the ultimate zombie apocalypse car.

I gotta say as a proud owner of the Mirage (which my daughter named "baby beast"), I was offended by all the shit talking in that other thread.
The Mirage isn't powerful. It isnt pretty. It won't get you the ladies. There's no argument on these points.
But if there were ever a zombie apocalypse or SHTF situation you will want to ditch your Ford raptors, jeeps and hummers. Because the Mirage is the best car you can have.
Fuel efficiency. There is no other car out there that gets the kind of fuel efficiency the mirage gets without being bogged down by the electrical problems or complications that come from hybrids or electric cars. And in a SHTF situation, gas will not be easy to come by. The Mirage can simply get you farther away from danger on less fuel than most cars.
Easy repairs. The Mirage is one of the only cars that you can still fix just about everything on with just a set of hand tools. It has a cable clutch. It has a freaking distributor. I'm pretty sure the most powerful computer it has is its clock. If something goes down on it... all you need is a few simple hand tools and some duct take and it will get you at least a few hundred miles away from zombies. Which you likely won't need to do because:
Reliability. The Mirage is insanely reliable. All of the parts on it were meant to be on cars that have between 120 and 200 horsepower. This little beast rocks just 74 horsepower. You routinely see Mirage with 250,000 miles on them without needing major repairs. There are a few out there with half a million miles on them. And if something goes wrong? All good because of point two.
Room for storage. The Mirage is deceptively roomy. I've taken my daughter on week long camping trips in it and we've never had an issue. We've just had to be creative. You can fit all of the zombie weapons you could need in it just fine... and still fit two or three people in it.
No one wants it.. So you think a badass Jeep with all the bells and whistles is the best vehicle for zombies or SHTF? Well guess what? So does everyone else. That makes you a target. And the second you close your eyes, someone may jack your shit. But nobody wants a Mirage in a situation like this. Only those of us who are enlightened.
Now I know what you are thinking.... but it can't go off road! And you are right. But neither can any other vehicle in a zombie apocalypse. Because it doesn't matter how high your truck is lifted or how many accessories you have on your Jeep. Anyone who has off roaded knows it causes problems for your vehicle.
That's it. I just want to throw it out there that the next time you see a guy driving a mirage... maybe do t laugh at him. Because when SHTF... you just may need him.

2024.05.15 18:07 nebulosae 4 Reviews of Astrid’s Lilac Studies (& 2 Bonus Reviews)

Astrid makes one of my absolute favorite lilac perfumes, so I was extremely excited about this collection! Though my gut instinct was to blind bottle all 8 Studies, I played it cool & ordered 4 decants. I am definitely bottling at least 1 of these, but 2 others are full size contenders as well so this has been a very successful sampling experience.
Astrid is a brand that I really admire but don’t own much from. Often our aesthetics are a bit misaligned & it’s rare that I find a scent of theirs that feels like me. The scents often don’t have the best performance on my skin as well- I generally find them to be a bit too quiet & have a wear time of only 3 hours or so.
That said, Astrid is always worth sampling since they have a great talent for marrying approachability with peculiarity.
On to the reviews!
——
Lilac Study No. 2 “lilac, nag champa incense, spun sugar, and frankincense.”
Opens with the nag champa, the cotton candy swirling in, the lilac at first a silken accent. I get a citrusy frankincense next that makes me a little wary it’s going to stomp on the other notes. The lilac in this one is quite subtle to me- the incense cotton candy along with the bright frankincense are definitely the main players, with the lilac adding a grace & softness. I do wish the frankincense (or whatever else may be leading to the citronella-y note I get once in a while) was left out, but it’s not that distracting & may smooth out with age. Eventually this blends into a gauze of cotton candy tinged with incense & lilac essence, & remains that way throughout wear. If you like sugary incense scents, please check this one out- it does not disappoint. Average throw for an oil- I can smell it when I move around but not when still for the most part. Average to low longevity.
Lilac Study No. 3 “lilac, honey accord, black pepper, vanilla absolute, and bergamot”
Lots of honey & bergamot to start with a tinge of pepper. Cheerfully sweet, a little perfumey, the honey lighter-bodied but powerful. The lilac here complements the honey, infusing it with soft petals. The honey/bergamot combo makes me think of perfumieless realistic takes on green tea- Serpentina from Darling Clandestine comes to mind. Over time, the vanilla comes out a little more, working to tame the honey & smooth over & bring together the other notes. The lilac in this one still acts as an aspect of the honey, it’s subtle in this blend. I get a shake of pepper & could do with a heavier dose to help balance the honey out. I like this one too but it’s my least favorite so far. I’m not always into honey- if you are, this one is quite nice with that sunny bergamot. It’s stronger than the average Astrid blend as well in terms of both throw & longevity.
Lilac Study No. 7 “lilac, iron distilled patchouli, violet leaf absolute, vanilla absolute, rice flower, jasmine sambac, velvet musk, and benzoin”
A cleaner, sheerer lilac with a dab of patchouli & a bright grassy green. This one opens as a more vibrant Spring scene than the other studies, the lilac just part of the tableau at first. Slowly it fuzzes into a musk. The lilac, jasmine, & rice flower are a pale, clean feeling bouquet with the lilac serving as the dominant flavor. The violet leaf is dialed down by the musk, the patchouli even more so. As this dries I would say the rice flower is the most impactful note of the composition- the lilac, jasmine, violet leaf, musk, & patchouli are all in evidence but filtered through the sheer rice flower. I get more patchouli than lilac over time & I am very curious how this one would age- if that patchouli would come out even more & how it would play under the curtain of rice flower. Average throw, & I’d say average to low longevity for me at this time.
Lilac Study No. 8 “lilac, butter co2, vanilla, and cream”
This smells like cereal milk at first, creamy & milky fruity. As the lilac materializes, the fruitiness abates- I’m not sure what I was getting there. The lilac here is gorgeous, fusing with a sweet cream note that is neither too heavy nor sour in the slightest. This one is distinctly lilac petals to my nose. They are ultra satiny & mesh beautifully with the texture of the cream & butter. The lilac is dominant well into wear, though the cream, fortified with a little yellow butter & vanilla, does gradually get stronger- eventually it’s cream & lilac instead of creamy lilac, if that makes sense. Well into drydown the vanilla gets nice & marshmallowy, with cream luscious & smooth & a breath of lilac. This is a lovely flormand specimen & I’m really in love with it. It wears close but I wouldn’t call it overly quiet or faint, it’s just the type of scent that hugs to the skin. I think that lends itself to longevity as well as it was discernible & enjoyable for over 4 hours (I stopped being able track after that).
——
Bonus review of Astrid’s Barn Owl “soft old barn wood, cream, and lilac blossom.”
I immediately wanted to sample No. 8 since it shared notes with one of my favorite scents, Barn Owl, so I figured I’d do a short review for that one too.
Barn Owl’s lilac is ethereal, creamy, & has a touch of, I think, white musk to it. The creaminess is perfumey, never going gourmand. It is a silken ghost on silent wing, the barn wood far below. Barn Owl is undeniably a lilac scent, but it feels more like white blooms in the night than the palette of pale purples I’ve gotten from the Studies. During drydown, Barn Owl is lightly sweet, soft against the skin, the wood more present but never overtaking the cream or lilac or weighing down the ethereal quality of the scent. I love this one for its clean creaminess & whispery veil of lilac.
Bonus review of BPAL’s Pleasing Two Women “oakmoss-infused vanilla bourbon, smoked lilac petals, and orris butter.”
& since it’s the season, I’m sampling other new lilac scents as well. This one is from this year’s Shungas & I thought that a short review may help others make informed lilac decisions.
Pleasing Two Women is a more romanticized take on lilac, with additional smoothness, almost to the point of waxiness, from the orris butter. The lilac petals are higher pitched & slightly more funky than in the Astrid blends & I unfortunately don’t get any of the listed smoke from them. The oak moss is one drop of dark green swirled into lots of whites & purples & it provides an anchor for the lilac & orris. Later in wear the sheer vanilla is the star here, a little mossy, slightly waxy, with more orris than lilac discernible. It’s a highly glamorized take on Springtime- a perfumed impression of blossoms & greenery instead of actual scents captured. BPAL always has good longevity & throw for me & this one is no exception.
——
Thanks for reading if you’ve gotten this far! Astrid absolutely excels at creating gorgeous lilac scents & I highly recommend sampling some of the Studies if you love lilacs!

2024.05.15 15:50 creativeburrito Rad straps hold up/worth it?

I just got my first f150 and it’s kind of hard to tell if the self ratcheting straps hold up after a yr or more being in the elements. Also, the generic alternatives on Amazon seem to have some mixed reviews, are there ones that ship faster than the 6-8 weeks that are decent quality alternatives?
I most cary lumber. For what’s it’s worth I am just itching to add some accessories, the wait time for that is a little long for my new-to me truck, but doable I guess.

Used GPS Trackers For Sale - Pros vs Cons

When it comes to finding the best deals and saving some extra cash, we all look for options that fit our budget. Online shopping has become popular due to its potential for better deals. Similarly, in the realm of GPS tracking technology, you might come across live tracking solutions like the SpaceHawk GPS or Tracki Mini. However, if real-time tracking is beyond your budget, there are two options: searching for a used GPS tracker or investing in a highly-rated new one. In this article, we will discuss the pros and cons of buying a used GPS tracker.

Pros of Buying a Used GPS Tracker

  • Cost Savings. One of the main advantages of purchasing a used GPS vehicle tracker is the opportunity to save money. Used devices are often available at lower prices compared to new ones, allowing you to stay within your budget.
  • Access to Advanced Features. Buying a used GPS device gives you access to advanced features and functionalities that might be too expensive with a new device. That means you can get high-quality OBD GPS trackers or asset trackers without breaking the bank!
  • Wide Range of Options. The used GPS tracker market offers a variety of models and brands. From BrickHouse Security real time GPS trackers to LandAirSea GPS car trackers, there are a ton of different choices online. Therefore, eBay or Craigslists are a great choice for finding a GPS tracker for tracking vehicles.

Cons of Buying a Used GPS Tracker

  • Limited Warranty. Used GPS trackers typically come with limited or no warranty coverage. In case of any issues with the personal GPS tracker, you may be responsible for repair or replacement costs. In fact, one of the most common issues with a vehicle GPS tracker is water damage. Why does that matter? Because it is hard to tell by visual inspection if the car GPS tracker is already water damaged and void of warranty.
  • Potential Wear and Tear. Since used trackers have been previously owned, they might show signs of wear and tear, which can affect their lifespan and reliability. It's important to carefully assess the condition of the GPS tracker locator before making a purchase. However, this is often not a choice when you buy online.
  • Outdated Technology. GPS tracking technology evolves rapidly, and used devices may lack the latest features and advancements found in newer models. Remember, drivers can get out-dated and software can require updates. Therefore, consider your specific tracking requirements and determine whether the used tracker meets your desired functionality.

What You Need To Consider When Buying Pre-Owned GPS Devices

If you're looking to save money, you may consider shopping for used GPS monitoring and fleet management equipment on online auction sites like eBay. While used GPS products can be more affordable than new ones, it's important to be cautious when purchasing a used device. Let's explore the pros and cons of buying used GPS equipment.
One downside of buying used GPS equipment is that the manufacturer's warranty becomes void. Once the device changes ownership, you won't have the protection of a warranty if any issues arise with the unit.
Another drawback is the possibility of missing parts. Used GPS trackers may be lacking essential components such as rubber gaskets or magnetic mounts, which are necessary for water protection. Even if the device appears to be in good condition, there's a risk of purchasing a tracker with missing parts.
Technical support is also a concern when buying used security products. Unlike reputable companies like Tracking System Direct, most resellers and manufacturers don't offer support for pre-owned devices. You won't have assistance for software downloads, accessing driving reports, or utilizing features like Google Earth.
On the positive side, purchasing a used GPS device can provide cost savings while still offering tracking and fleet management capabilities. It allows you to acquire the necessary tools at a more affordable price.
The truth is, buying a used GPS fleet management device has its advantages and disadvantages. Keep in mind the voided warranty, potential missing parts, and lack of technical support. Choosing a reputable company like Tracking System Direct ensures lifetime technical support, giving you peace of mind. Consider your needs and budget carefully when deciding to purchase used GPS equipment.

Best Buy GPS Tracker Car

As with most things in life, people get what they pay for. However, for those who are no longer interested in purchasing a used GPS system, there are still options available to get a quality product while saving some money. Here is a brief list of what consumers can do:
  • Shop Online. Pricing for products, especially technology and GPS products, will always be better through an online retailer.
  • Search Google For Coupon Codes. Often times online retailers will extend special promotions and discounts as a way to move excess inventory or make room for new products.
  • Contact The Merchant Directly. Ask if they are having any promotions or sales that you can take advantage of before making the commitment to purchase. At the very least the buyer may be able to get free shipping out of the deal.
  • Consider GPS Data Loggers. If live car trackers with a monthly subscription fee are too expensive, a solid and reliable alternative could be an investment in data loggers. Since passive GPS units only capture data, they do not require any monthly service fees, SIM cards, and the hardware costs typically 40%-50% less than real-time devices! Not to mention, passive trackers record data every second and do not depend on cellular communication or cell service in any way to perform. The one slight drawback with these types of trackers is that the data must be downloaded manually by the user.
There are a number of different ways buyers can get a quality mini GPS tracker while not breaking the bank. With a little bit of research, and by following the above tips, people interested in GPS locators can save!

Buying GPS Devices on Craigslist: A Money-Saving Option

Are you on the lookout for a good deal? With the rise of e-commerce and reduced overhead costs, online merchants are offering savings that are hard to resist. While many think of Craigslist for housing or job searches, it has become a valuable platform for online retailers to boost sales and provide excellent deals, especially for those looking to save money on GPS trackers.
Why choose Craigslist over eBay? Here's why online merchants prefer Craigslist:
  • No insertion fees: Unlike eBay, posting ads on Craigslist is free. Merchants can showcase their products without incurring additional costs.
  • No final value fees: eBay requires merchants to pay final value fees when their products are sold. On Craigslist, sellers can avoid these fees altogether.
  • Lower payment processing fees: eBay transactions often involve PayPal, which charges payment processing fees. Craigslist transactions can be conducted with local buyers, reducing or eliminating these fees.
  • More image options: eBay limits the number of product images without extra charges, while Craigslist offers flexibility in showcasing products with multiple images at no additional cost.
  • Localized experience: Craigslist's focus on local communities means faster shipping and handling times, providing convenience and efficiency.
By exploring Craigslist, you can find excellent deals on tracking devices for cars from online merchants looking to connect with local customers. Enjoy the benefits of cost savings, a wide range of product options, and faster transactions.
If you're seeking a budget-friendly GPS tracker, consider browsing Craigslist. Take advantage of the free platform, localized experience, and the opportunity to support local online merchants. Start your search today and seize the chance to find a great deal on a vehicle tracking device!

2024.05.14 20:37 Tau_Above_All Table Saw Recommendations Please?

It is time to replace my now 15 year old Delta 36-725. Truth be told it was time to replace it five minutes after I started using it. Every bad thing you've ever heard about it is underselling the problems but not being able to afford to replace I made do.
I was not actually looking to replace it until next year or the year after but certain very unfortunates moves by the CPSC regarding table saws and the monopoly they will set up will drive the price of new saws up by as much as $2000 according to a good many industry experts. So I will be putting off other things to buy the saw that will last me the twenty to twenty five years i likely have left in serious woodworking that requires a large table saw.
I am 1000% against giving SawStop a single dime so I will not be considering them. I rip a lot of 3" oak and 3" hard maple so bumping up to a 3hp machine is the minimum but a 5hp would be ideal if overkill. I do have a space concern but it is not with the assembled saw. I can fit a full cabinet saw with 52" rails assembled in my shop just fine. I do however need to get any crates from the truck past a choke point where getting anything wider than 30" or 31" would be tricky. i cannot modify this choke point. Whichever saw will also be put up on a Bear Crawl or something similar. Partially for mobility and there is one big move in it's future to a side of the shop under construction, but during spring melts I also sometimes get a little water in the shop. Not enough to drown in or anything but the inch or so a Bear Crawl give is enough to keep my very expensive thingamajig out of the water.
To that I am wrestling with four saw right now.
Harvey Alpha HW110TC-52P - The saw looks solid by the specs but it is a mainland China saw and company and there are no show rooms anywhere in the US where you can see one in person. This is also on sale for the month and wouldn't normally be in my price range. Their customer service seems to be extremely suspect and unresponsive unless you a re a YouTuber they are trying to get to push their equipment.
Laguna Fusion F3 - The saw also looks solid and the fence looks very useful. I was also able to actually go look and touch one of these at my local Woodcraft. Their current customer service though has also been described as suspect and unresponsive.
Grizzly G0951 - It seems mostly solid save the dust collection which has been described as might as well not have any. It is also on sale but unlike the Harvey it is on sale because it is being discontinued. Buying a saw I expect to last for twenty years or more with no spare parts is a tall ask and giving me pause.
Grizzly G1023RLX5 - This seems incredibly solid and is one of the only 5hp in my price range I found. The only thing i immediately do not like about it is the fence. Not the whole thing mind you but the face of it. The plastic faces are never flat and can't really be made so. I would be replacing the face on the left side of the fence with a 48" aluminum extrusion of the same thickness with t-track slots. Yes, the other face will still have the plastic face but I have not used the fence on the other side of the blade in over twenty years.
My biggest question is is there anything on any of these saws that I'm missing? I'm mostly leaning to the G1023RLX5 but you don't know what you don't know. I haven't heard anything too terrible about them - mostly minor gripes really. The MDF extension table does give me some pause but I can always replace that panel when it wears out. Is there anything (other than a blasted SawStop) that I'm not seeing about these saws?

2024.05.14 20:16 LindsLuvsPink Mickey Figure

I’m trying to identify what this figurine is from. I can’t find a year or any writing on it. My guess is that it came from a Mickey Firefighter set of some kind. His hands twist, and are definitely meant to hold accessories, he bends at the waist, and also has holes on the bottom that have to be to attach him to what I assume is a fire truck.

2024.05.14 17:32 jguadagno43 [SELL] Boosted Board V2 Dual+ XR, $449 or best offer.

Haven't been active on this subreddit in quite a while, and not sure if boards still sell on Reddit the way they used to back in the day Always knew this day would come and, at this point in my life, the board deserves a better home like the unused toys in Toy Story 3.
My relationship with this board was similar to what I imagine most people have with their first car, and I tried my best to treat it the same way Cameron's dad did his Ferrari in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. This board was my horse throughout college, taking me between the campuses of Rutgers New Brunswick so I could avoid the lengthy & crowded trips of the buses. It's never failed me.
WTS Boosted Board V2 Dual+ XR, $449 or best offer.
Description: One and only owner. ~500 miles. All electronics OEM. Original wheels, trucks, deck, etc. XR battery. Grip tape needed to be replaced at some point and, being a purist, I reached out to Boosted to see what grip tape they used for the front and back. I bought the same types they gripped the Dual+ with and did my best to use the original grip tape as a stencil for the branding. Pride myself on taking extremely good care of my stuff. Would personally label as Good/Very Good condition. Still charges & operates like the first day I got it. Has never needed to be serviced or has had any RLOD related incidents.
Accessories: 3D Printed truck risers and/or tail/nose bumpers (independently printed, not Flatland 3D) but will include the original ones. Original Charger, Controller, Mini USB Cable, truck risers, & sticker. Extra pulleys. Original hardware. Boosted Skate Tool. Boosted Backpack for carrying board & accessories. Kane's Thumbwheel that can be swapped with the original one on the controller for better use with gloves.
Just specific things I want to point out to be completely transparent about the condition. Will do my best to include specific close-up pictures of all things mentioned below:
  1. Grip tape job is not perfect. Obviously pretty easy to re-grip a board with a single new piece of tape but, having tried to replicate the OEM job, it is certainly not perfect.
  2. Slight chafing on nose and tail.
  3. Back wheels are slightly chewed from use.
  4. Seems to be a staple or something lodged very deeply in the back-right wheel. Honestly, super hard to get a picture of. It seems like it's lodged so deeply in there that it is now actually integral to the wheel. I imagine if I (or you) ever tried to dislodge it, it would take a significant chunk out of the wheel. I honestly don't think it's anything to worry about. Been there for most of the board's life & has never caused issues. Always thought it was more trouble than it was worth to try and extract.
Shipping / Pick-Up: I am located in South Jersey. Willing to travel / meet for local pick-up or test drive. Willing to ship but price of shipping would probably need to hammered out down the road. So far, FedEx seems to quote me somewhere between $15-$50 for shipping depending on where the recipient is located.
Thanks for taking the time to look/read! Please PM me if you have any questions or other photo requests that are not captured here: https://imgur.com/a/TGLMMXE

2024.05.14 15:14 c0mbucha Farming related decoration item IDEAS

So I saw the devs asked for ideas for decoration items.
Which must be pretty hard to come up with new stuff since Ft1 had so many already.
So here in this (real life) video is some awesome stuff in my opinion, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnF5Anlf8Ss
Like a fish feeder (even just cosmetic) with some effect maybe in the water (if there is fish)
Also Yurts and Container homes would be great as many people do now in Portugal and other places.
Some vegetation as decorative items? Like scrubs and even weed-type like fields, water plants, giant 4x4 old ancient trees (like olive, https://www.surinenglish.com/lifestyle/food-drink/malagas-extra-virgin-20220218092148-ntvo.html ) and GIGANTIC palm trees - maybe even 2x2 and 3x3 trees , just like more huge old wood logs and rotten tree stumps just for decoration
Chicken tractors (used to move chicken around on grass fields (great for decoration))
Some stuff from organic/regenerative farming like different soil types with mulch on it (woodchips, straw, could even be a gameplay element where players could put a new item they pick up from a compost bin over crops?).
Signs maybe even with some text elements like "Please plant " here where * is the crop icon you choose (maybe there is other text elements that would be useful like "Welcome to *your farm name), and huge 6-9 tile gates that have players farm name on them?
Worm bin (used in farming), compost, electricity poles (just for decoration), wind-farm/solar decoration, items for like a "tree-school" (like little pots with different crops/flowers/tiny plants and stacks of pots both vertically and horizontally).
Bonsai trees.
Also compost again, like giant stacks of mud/compost (maybe with flies over it and a buzzing sound)/woodchip piles just for decoration purposes
Trashcans
Wheelbarrows (always used on a farm). I think these could have so many uses even acting as a planter, which would look so cool with the player being able to put different crops in it just as with raised beds/garden containers/old truck wheels)
Also different types/variations of sprinklers maybe, like I love these giant grass fields where a sprinkler just shoots water all around, maybe this would be possible and look great on our farms even just as decoration? Plus eventually a watering effect
(even)Tall(er) grass, Wild Flower field soil type (possibly with little bonus effect for bees) or just in general different looks to the default plot (examples https://www.bostonseeds.com/products/wildflowers-seed/wildflower-seed-mixtures-20/ or just do google image search for bee field seeds)
Insect hotels https://www.urbanrevolution.com.au/products/small-insect-hotels
Raised garden beds (planters) out of wood, metal, recycled container, old truck wheels...
Ideas for trees: Cork Oak (where is an animation of harvesting the bark from the tree and the color of the wood changes)
Pomegranate bushes and trees (they can be grown in both ways) and theres dark purple, yellow, red pomegranate in general i think more bushes and berry hedges would be great as they are more convienent to farm than large trees (and you have brought a lot already in the first EA which is awesome!!). Generally i think it would be great if they often looked more unique like the Prickly Pear Cactus over just a round "bush").
Generally more unique looking fruit trees would be great (I understand its probably a lot more work)
Actually for tree ideas you might want to look at this small youtuber who goes around the world identifying rare fruit trees https://www.youtube.com/@allthefruit there is some places in the world where people just are super creative and have such an amazing variety.
Some worker tools, rubber boots on the ground (used a lot in some countries as costa rica), small 1 tile poly tunnels that connect (good for decoration next to fields), watering cans, irrigation lines, rainwater collectors (like barrels with water in them, IBC containers), garden hoes (maybe as fence type?)
(Also just having an idea for a feature maybe some day, where you could create a guided tractor tour if people click it, the tractor will keep following a certain path around the farm (kinda like the train of course, but maybe at the same time watering/plowing fields just by people "activating it" so following a line maybe set up with a tile seperatofence type of item?)
Rollercoaster instead of train going all over your farm (haha kinda meant as a joke but would surely be fun), same as some dinosaurs, elephants and other more "exotic" animals.
Boxes/crates of all the different/some mixed crops/fruit. Wheelbarrows and boxes with produce/plants/fruit/crops in them so you can make your farm look more like a production site.
Starlink satellite, different camper vans, more bonfires
Maybe (some day?) an "ancient tractor", or even like a cow/horse/donkey carriage acting like a tractor. This could be fun!
Different SMALL one tile water fountains (used often in backyard gardening), different Water Pumps.
More varieties of bird feeders. Maybe a tree that has a squirrel on it.
Some more varied wooden benches, chairs, tables as often used in garden areas around the world. Maybe with some garden pots on them.
Maybe some pools and more deluxe items like parasols, sunbeds/deckchairs, sunchairs, so people can decorate a special garden at the player house as in a lounge area (as the farmhands do all the "work" lol)
Also maybe for more posh gardens some white gravel type of soil with some green scrubs in them.
Shovels and other tools sticking in the ground/soil (or on piles as is already in the game with the beautiful hay fork).
Hope this helps this is what I could come up with an hour or so and would love to see tho I realize not all is possible to do or really necessary! And I am happy even with the EA just like its now lol.
Hope we see some other good ideas posted here now! I realized its pretty hard to come up with this stuff!
