Lpn classes in ny

I am an MHC intern and full-time grad student in NY State. I am finishing all of my classes soon. My internship situation has become increasingly frustrating.
I have two internships at placements that should not be accepting interns until they are more organized/structured about it.
Basically, both of my internships are basically DIY internships in residential settings. Most of the time I have 0-2 clients. When I ask for more direct hours, my supervisors tell me to ask other clinicians if I can help them with their work or basically find/create my own work. Occasionally, I get a few short-term cases assigned but nothing reliable.
Due to this situation, I am done with my indirect hours but I have over 100+ direct hours left. I am trying to finish these hours by August so I don’t have to pay more tuition for school supervision in the fall (and delay having an income) for a situation that I have been raising concerns about to multiple professors in my program since last fall.
I recently emailed my program’s internship coordinator with a detailed version of what I am sharing here and asked for help with resolving the situation. The response I got was that they want me to just let them know if I want them to get involved and talk to my sites and that maybe I can do some hours at a professor’s private practice.
My program is accredited by CACREP. I am well aware that technically a number of my direct hours might technically not meet CACREP’s standards for direct hours but I am tired of constantly bringing up my direct hours situation in supervision (both site and school supervision) and constantly being told some version of “self-advocate” aka“figure it out yourself” or “make something with what you have” or “I will do X for you” (but often no follow through).
My plan is to push through and collect direct hours where I can so I can graduate. One site is also suddenly talking about a plan for my hours (I think they are trying to recruit me) so if they actually follow through on their plan I might be ok. The problem is that I can only do so many “hang out with residents” hours before wanting to go home (don’t get me wrong- I enjoy the residents a lot…but I can only chat so much without structure or a goal or getting close to infringing on another clinician’s case). One professor has suggested that I plan group activities (like recreational therapy type stuff) but I have no motivation to do this, especially since it’s clear from talking to my sites that if I do groups that I will have to plan and make them from scratch and that I will be doing them alone (despite a higher-risk residential population). Are there other ways of getting direct hours in this kind of situation?

I’m planning on attending school to become an Lpn in the fall, and I’ve been accepted at two schools: Vancouver island university, and bow valley college. VIU is a better school overall, and I had to take a difficult pre-nursing program to even apply, where I was the highest in the class. Bow valley is in Calgary, and my boyfriend is planning on doing his accounting degree during my second year, but there are better options in terms of programs and schools in Calgary. Basically, viu is a better school but Calgary is better for both of us. I’ve heard that hospitals put applications from certain schools “at the bottom of the pile” for example sprott Shaw, and I’m scared of missing out on job opportunities by choosing bow valley college. Advice would be appreciated!

I'm slavic but I was born in America I grew up speaking Russian and lived in a little Russian neighborhood i would also go to a Russian school that gave us russian classes but being a stupid young kid i would never take them seriously so i never really learned how to properly read or write only half learned it in 6th i spoke russian alright I moved a while back to an english/Spanish speaking area and I've noticed that recently I'm starting to forget more words and how to say certain things its probably because no one other than ny family speaks Russian here so my days are filled only with russian or spanish and I feel really disappointed and disgusted in myself I always have i feel ashamed that i never took those classes seriously I feel as a slav I should know how to speak my native language without an issue and now im forgetting it completely my siblings dont even know or understand most russian sadly and i want to teach my future kids how to speak russian and now i probably wont be able to i just wanted to ask if anyone else is going through this because I feel really discouraged I'm thinking of trying some language apps or yt videos to relearn it but they usually only learn how to speak formally which I dislike I really don't need ppl to tell me how disappointing I am I understand that I am. I just want to know if people are going through a similar thing.

I'll hopefully be starting in July with the HIM program and have approx 30% done thanks to transferring my schooling from LPN. It's been about 6 years since I was in school and I am due with my first baby in September. I've been disabled the last 4.5 years so this is all a bit terrifying but exciting.
Anyway! What kinds of things should I look into getting to help me through? Would an AHIMA membership be wise when I start? What study aids do you use? Should I be dusting off my binders and getting notebooks and highlighters? Ideally I'll be "working ahead" in July and August so I have time to relax around when my baby is born before getting back into it fully.
I've done a short "Intro to medical coding" class through my community college and my last job was mainly data entry with medical records so I know I'll love at least that side of things but want a bit more flexibility in a career since I'll have to have accommodations to work from home in a job due to my disabilities.

I'm planning on becoming a CS major with a minor in English & Arts or Psychology. I was wondering what type of summer classes I should take for my major whether online or in person. For reference, I am in NY.
I am also looking to take any sort of class to get math credits because unfortunately I am really bad at math but want to be in a more math-focused major...
I really don't know because an old teacher of mine recommended me to take summer classes to have more credits under my belt to not overwhelm my schedule first year.

Had this cRaZy idea at the path station going home... shit maybe I don't have to pep talk myself... *all* by myself and work it out in my own head. Maybe I don't have to look for Reddit "articles" that fit my situation, maybe it's time to make my own post. Maybe everything doesn't have to be confined to the walls of my journals.
Disclaimer: obviously, I'm not asking for anyone to fix my problem for me. I'm fully aware that it has to come from *within*. But some advice, especially in overcoming shared experiences, would be very helpful at this point. And yes yes yes I know it sounds like I'm taking open mics waaayyy too seriously. I know I am. I know I'm good at overthinking and I know it's what I'm doing now. Open mics are supposed to be scary-fun but when it comes to the actual moment's reality, I just make it scary. I'm on the verge of seeking performance anxiety therapy. Otherwise extremely frustrated with myself.
It's worth noting that I (24f) struggled with crippling, mute-level social anxiety since ... birth?..as a child. Which in many situations cannot be noticed now, but it's definitely evolved into selective mutism. Anyway, I'm a musician, I've been a melodic lyricist since I was a little kid, started teaching myself guitar when I was a young teenager. In high school and early college, I had a really goofy phobia of playing in front of people -- even if it was just pals bein pals (I'm definitely over that much now). Years go by, I stuck with music even though I was forced into college by external/societal forces and financial aid. Transferred to community school after one year, and eventually dropped out with an associate's when I was past the age of a bachelors....When I realized that working part time to pay towards school and personal wants (many of them music-related), and schooling part time not knowing a damn thing about what my true calling was besides music, was making me miserable. Days of silent treatment from my ma didn't stop me (never should, I realized).
So here I am, two years later. Working on an album with many trials and tribulations, but I'm embracing the journey. Yet the one thing that's been urking me is the fact that I just haven't played live, even if that means practicing doing it (it's next-level terrifying). I've also moved to Jersey City since dropping out of college, and it (/NYC) is literally the Land of Opportunity when it comes to open mics. When I was still living with my mom (in Bumblefuck, NJ -- I live with my dad now here in JC), I played *one* open mic a year and a half ago in Montclair -- a good hour or so away from where I was living then -- and absolutely bombed it. I let external input dictate my "setlist" way too much; I wasn't well prepared; my voice shook throughout the performance; the mic wasn't even a decent distance from my mouth, but I neglected the setup process altogether. Hell, I didn't even bring my guitar in its case because I was afraid of even the most subtle shit fucking up the tuning. Total fight-or-flight mode; just wanted to be off the stage asap. Why I even followed through with the sign-up, shit. You'd just have to ask 22-yo Morgan. I don't know. In a weird way, she had balls that I don't have now.
But because of that experience, I've learned soo much about preparation and putting *personal* intention behind selecting covers and originals. And the kind of stuff to select for a usually-acoustic setting. After being fickle with my choices far too long, I allowed myself to divert some of my attention from recording/Garageband producing, and finally assembled a setlist over time that I feel works for me. Practiced the hell out of it. Maybe too much, at least the first cover and original that I picked before #3 (a cover and a good choice that I heard at work one day). My psychiatrist also recently prescribed me blood-pressure-lowering medication that I take about 45 minutes beforehand to avoid palpitations interfering with my performance (like the first one in Montclair).
So once I felt like I had all the songs down, I decided it's time to fuckin finally sign up. So I did (via Instagram) just less than a week before, for a bar with weekly Monday open mics. It was a NY venue ... I took the path train, then the subway, then I made the short walk. The place itself suddenly freaked me out. Like the Google Images page, the pictures of the venue were suddenly real. My pussy ass walked passed it like I was going somewhere else (when you're a tiny, forgetfully-"unarmed" female in NYC, ALWAYS look like you know where you're going). Made the street-grid in my head when I was walking past it since I was early enough to psych myself out; I thought I'd just walk a few blocks and come back. Started to come back.... no. Turned around; waste of metro money to say the least.
The night that followed and the day after, I hated myself so much for doing that. I DMed the same person on Instagram asking to sign up for the following week. Throughout the week leading up to it, I handwrote myself a literal 8-page pep-talk journal entry (all with very good points to combat the feelings and apprehensive thoughts). I thought that the self-disappointment and regret would be enough of a motivator for the next one. But this past Monday (a week later)? Same shit. Repeated cycle. Decided I'd play at a different one I knew of the following night (which was last night/Tuesday, who also has them weekly) -- signups were at the door, and the time limit was only 7 minutes, so I'd only play two songs that were very simple, one original and one cover, and it'd be over before I knew it. I got there pretty early (another New York venue) -- I was the first one there. The doors hadn't even opened; host walked past me asking me if I was there for the open mic, I said yeah, he said that the doors were opening in about 15 minutes, I said okay cool. Nerves started creeping up a little bit. But my feet stayed planted to the pavement. I was feeling like, yeah, this is really happening. More performers started arriving -- some of them were nice, some of them made me even more nervous and uncomfortable in short, but either way most of them seemed like they were at least a little self-assured (the comics very playful; one of them even had a special coming up), and knew someone else there waiting for the doors to open. The more people that showed up, the more scared I got. But networking with the others just confirmed all the more that I was going to play. I started to get that fight-or-flight response; the fear was growing... then the doors opened. I stood in line, I was talking to people a little; I probably didn't seem very scared on the surface but I sure was. At this venue they make you pay to perform, so when it came to be my turn in line, I thought of a quick out -- "is there an ATM?" When I heard there was one down the block (even though they also take card or Venmo), I turned around and DIPPED.
Here I am today, feeling shittier than ever about this. How it could've even ended up being fun, could've opened doors to more opportunities, connections, and maybe friends. I have other scattered open mics planned besides the other two weekly venues I mentioned, one I'm thinking to do Friday outside the city (somehow being in a different area where I can be sure no one knows me or will, to start out / warm up before I start going more locally, makes me feel better). Here I am again thinking that this feeling will be motivation enough, thinking "next time / Friday will truly be the one [if I can switch shifts at work]". But there's another voice that asks myself, how can I be so self-assured about that at this point, when I've recently felt this way two times before, and it resulted in the same outcome?
Messing up is part of the process, and yeah it's scary, especially thinking about nerves affecting my playing and vocals, but here is where it comes back to the social anxiety -- that fear of being perceived is 10x scarier. Performance anxiety to a socially anxious person, is voluntarily skydiving to a person who needs a Xanax to be on an airplane, especially when it's so personal and passionate; different than a forced presentation in front of a class (which I also always used to get nervous for). And when I ask myself, "can a performer and this level of anxiety actually coexist? Am I even meant for this?" ... I think about something that somebody sent me about Jerry Garcia (for those who don't know, deceased Grateful Dead lead guitarist/vocalist/lyricist) -- how Bob Weir (bandmate) thinks the drugs that killed him were to deal with this level of performance anxiety that was too much to fit inside of a human body. Meanwhile, the audience loved him, whether they were in another world on psychs or not. The same person who sent that Jerry Garcia thing to me, I respect a lot as a performer and overall musician. He circumstantially is set up through family, though, to always be playing with other people and having gigs. He told me a story about how he found an open mic he was going to do *alone*, drove there, sat in the lot, and turned around to drive home (even with all his performing experience). Performing alone is scary in general. I know I'm not the first person to do this and not the last, probably. But doing that three times in a row? I really want to start doing regular open mics so badly, but it's as if this fear just possesses my insides when it comes time to actually do it. The other frustrating aspect to it is that another part of me is as brave as I've been weak-minded.
I also know that the rather simple answer, in essence, is just getting up there and actually fucking doing it. But I'm wondering if there is anyone here who has had this experience, and what you did to overcome it; what made you really play that first time after those cold-feet "outtakes". And even if you didn't really do the cold-feet thing in the past, any advice or perspective or support in this community would be much appreciated. And do you think I could go back to those same venues without being looked down on or cringed at (if they remember me)? If you even read it this far, I also really appreciate that to begin with. I'm also very open to criticism and tough love, but please keep it cordial and kind.

So I've finished the class stories several times over the years and ventured onto makeb and illum a few times. But I've never done any KOTFE stuff. So I'm currently planning a run where I run through a class again and for through the entire story flashpoints and all to get into the later stages of story.
Now here's where my question comes in. With this run I want to recruit as many companions as humanly possible. But my question is, has there ever been a stated reason why some companions are not recruitable to all classes? I get Pierce and 4X so there can be empire and Republic exclusives. But why are mako, corso, akaavi, risha, and doc all locked behind particular classes?
I get characters who don't show up at all, you'd need the VAs and a story for them (which is a shame because i'd like Iresso in ny alliance). But if these other characters are added in the first place, the story that adds them should be able to extent to more classes no? Like I enjoy the smuggler story, but I was kind of hoping the leader of the alliance with the most companions would be a force class, or at least a class that is heavily connected with the government like trooper or agent.
So I will do my super companion run as a smuggler, but I'd like to know why is it like this? I'd really like my JK or SI to be the leader of the super alliance because of their personalities. It's a shame really.

Im writing on here because I want to move out of my parents house but not sure if its possible in my situation.
I start graduate school in August. Its in person, 4 days a week mainly in the mornings/afternoons. I think 2nd year we have night classes. Currently, I babysit and definitely don't make enough to afford rent in NY. I have no problem getting a new or second job since I've done it in the past. I just don't know how smart it would be to work an extra job or more hours in general while going to grad school. I don't have a bad home situation but my parents are strict. Im turning 23 soon and I would really like to go out on my own and have my own personal space.
I paid my undergrad out of pocket and will take out loans for my grad program. Ive heard people say they use that money for rent as well. Not sure..
I am wondering if anyone has any advice on what to do or if its even possible. Thx!!

So I'm that travel nurse who graduated from a diploma mill. But it gets worse. I also started school the Fall before the pandemic hit and basically only had one term before we all got sent home while faculty miserably failed trying to set up a zoom curriculum so that they could keep all of our tuition. The most common thing I heard from teachers was something along the lines of if we were in a classroom I could really show you xxxx or normally in class we would practice this... So they needed nurses so bad then that my FIRST job was as a traveler and I was awful! I want to be competent, I love learning, I love science and my school (CDI in Vancouver BC) really lacked science and pharmacology in the syllabus. They were a huge waste of money and shouldn't be training nurses in-person nor online. So my question is, can anyone recommend a good LPN refresher course? Especially if it's US based? I'm from the States and would like to go back home eventually. TYIA!

Hello! Bear with me as I’m (26F) new to both posting and solo travel. I quit my job last week and don’t start my new gig until June 3rd, so I have two weeks to travel and I need to book a flight somewhere fast. Given I am rarely able to take off more than 5 days, I thought this would be a good opportunity to travel somewhere a bit farther and landed on Bali as a destination because I’m interested in enrolling in a surf school. I’ve read up on Kima Surf and feel it’s a good fit as it balances nicer accommodations and structure with yoga and surf instruction, which is what I’m looking for. I’m considering either Canggu or Seminyak but I’m wondering if I should make a stop anywhere else on the trip. I don’t want to be stressed out trying to cram in too much l but also don’t want to waste an opportunity to fit in some history or other experiences. I am down for anything: hiking, guided tours, cooking classes, must visit restaurants or nightlife etc. My budget is pretty flex as I had a rainy day fund in the event I ever had time like this. I’m flying out of NY and it looks like I’d have to stopover in Dubai if that matters. Looking for any any all recommendations or advice from others who may have made a similar journey.
