So, the long journey just ended and I'm a little bit sad, as you can imagine: so I wanted to share my opinion about the anime but, instead of writing a long wall of text, I decided to let some tierlist that I just made speak for me.
BEST CHARACTERS.
Among the group D, there might be some characters that I just didn't recognize by that image.
Well, Gintama has a lot of fun characters. I don't know if it's an unpopular opinion or not, but the main trio is not among my favourites: Sougo is a total beast, a complete character that I enjoyed both when he was serious and when he was comical and I loved his friendly-rivalry relationship with Kagura; Shinsuke was probably the best written character for me and I equally loved all the S-tier people there, even tough Hedoro has a special place in my heart: my boy deserved way more screen time (I'd say he must be protected at all costs, but let's be honest: he was probably the strongest character in the entire anime after Utsuro).
Gintoki was great, I really liked him most of the time (especially in his serious moments) and I liked Kagura even more but I truly could never really like Shinpachi: God, I swear I tried really hard to like him, but sometimes I felt he was just irritating and I feel like he could have been written way better by the writer.

I never skipped any opening or ending in every episode and, in the end, the more I listened to almost all of them, the more I liked them. The ones in the D rank are the ones that I really couldn't enjoy and felt they were boring or not interesting enough; the ones in the S and A ranks are all on rotation on my Spotify playlist since I listened to them for the first time: I can't count how many times I listened to the full version of Togenkyo Alien, they didn't need to go so hard on that opening.
I never gave much attention on the openings and endings of the Yorinuki series, so I don't have a strong opinion on them, except for the first one that I kinda liked.

THE peak was the Shogun assassination arc and nothing else comes close, but the Four Devas and Courtesan of a Nation left me speechless too: basically perfection to me and made me love Gintama more and more. I was disappointed by the final arc, because I even felt a bit bored watching some episodes and I never was hungry of more and more episodes like when I was watching the arcs on Peak and S tier: I wasn't impressed by the final enemies and I never truly liked Utsuro for some reasons I can't still explain; I liked some moments of the final war, but overall I was disappointed and made me think: "Oh, well, the destination wasn't that great, but the journey was fantastic". The final movie was good tho.
About the comical episodes: I really loved or liked about 70% of them, Gintama gave me a lot of laughs but there were moments where I found really hard to keep watching; especially in the 150-200 episodes block, I remember I often felt disappointed and bored. The worst arc for me is probably the Monkey Hunter one: I clearly remember I couldn't wait for it to be over.
IN CONCLUSION:
Gintama gave me laughs in some very intense and stressed months of my life and I was happy to have two or three episode of it to watch in the end of the day. I know a lot of people here say this anime is their favourite one, but for me it's just a good anime to watch but far from being perfect. I'll probably rewatch it againg, maybe skipping those arcs that I truly didn't like, so my opinions could change in the future.

So i’m 8 months post op and i decided yesterday I wanted sour gummy worms (mind you i’m 140 pounds down and NEVER eat candy) so i got a small little bag and ate every single one. Then immediately after i felt like i couldn’t keep my eyes open and felt intoxicated almost and basically went straight to bed after laying with my eyes closed for 30 minutes. Has anyone else experienced this?? What could it be??

A brand new chapter! And this time we get to meet a member of Davey's family. I hope it doesn't end up being to humiliating for anyone......
Visit my mother? At work? In a fever dream I barely remembered getting into the car with the Smith family. We made the short drive across town and pulled up outside “Hoots”. The neon sign flickered, which mimicked a crude depiction of female breasts. The place always made me feel uncomfortable. When we walked in, I suddenly thought otherwise. It wasn’t really as scummy as I remember I guess. Most of the 20-something waitresses had on quite short shorts still, and revealing tops, but nothing overly obscene. I looked over at the Smiths and they seemed to be taking it all in stride, giggling at everything. Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad. Mr. Smith seemed unphased as he talked to the gorgeous hostess. She seemed to beam at his good looks and confident smile. “Miriam’s section, please” he said. The hostess twirled her hair and looked up dreamily at him. “Right this way, sir.”
Mr. and Mrs. Smith sat on 1 side of the booth, as I sat in between Ashley and Liz. As the family got used to the the somewhat promiscuously dressed 20 year olds, Mrs. Smith finally pointed my mother out. “Oh, that’s her there! Right Davey!?"
We all looked over where she pointed. My mother stood holding a small stack of dirty plates. Her uniform was the same as the other girls, but different. In addition to being the only woman there over 30, her outfit was shorter somehow. Trashier. It only emphasized that she was aging out of her 40’s and no longer maintained her youth the same as the rest of the staff. The table of gruff men she was talking to seemed to laugh at her while also stealing little rubs and grabs of her upper thigh, hips and even swatted her protruding backside. She tried to keep the grabby hands at bay with a pleading smile plastered across her face.
She set the plates down in the kitchen in the back, then hurried back over and returned as the men were just leaving. They threw couple bucks down, but missed the table as the crumpled dollars fell to the floor. As she got down on her knees to retrieve the dollars off the sticky floor, I heard Liz snort/laugh again and muttered out “jesus…I guess it’s genetic, huh Davey?”. Mrs. Smith called over “Miriam! Hello dear! We’re ready for orders when you're done down there.”
My mother scurried over as she wiped her hands on her tiny apron. “Mrs. Smith! Such a pleasure to see you here! And you brought the whole family! It has been so long since the PTA meeting. Such a, well, such a pleasant surprise. You look amazing!”
“Why thank you Miriam. I’ll tell my botox lady you think so!” she responded with a laugh. "And look who we brought here…” she gestured over to me. I looked up briefly “Um, uh, h-hi mom”.
“David! I, um, I wasn’t expecting you.” It was as if she was suddenly aware of how exposed she was.
“Look at this, Hank!”, Mrs. Smith said grabbing her husband’s attention, “this is what I was talking about. How is a woman supposed to have any self respect traipsing around in this!” Mrs. Smith found her sense of justice again. “Look at her! At her age, showing this much! How embarrassing!”
My mother as if on cue, turned a deep shade of red. I thought about sticking up for her. But what could I ever say. Maybe if I waited patiently, Ashley would maybe speak up for me. I had picked up a habit of hiding behind Ashley and waiting for her opinion. She always seemed to know just what to say!
Mr. Smith leaned forward with a grin, but spoke with sympathy dripping from his voice. “Yes, it’s just terrible. The other girls seem to be more, well, dignified in their attire though…”
“Yes,” my mother meekly replied back, “well, the other girls fit into the size small and maybe a few medium. I have to wear the large size, and well, they're from before they updated the store policy and implemented less-revealing uniforms. I put in my request for a “large" in the new uniforms though! My manager says it’s on backorder!”
Mr. Smith smiled wide at her “Well that’s fantastic then. Honestly, those shorts still look a little tight, but I’m sure that’s not bad for business”.
"It’s just disgusting is what it is!” Mrs. Smith continued. Look here,” she reached up grabbing my mother’s uniform strap and tugging it making my mother’s chest rise and fall with a jiggle "No support at all. She looks like she belongs in some seedy brothel; not a restaurant. I get the joke is it’s supposed to be a little crude in humor, but just look at this!” She pulled the strap a few more times causing her chest to shake heavily as the table let out a brief laugh. I shifted my eyes to the ground. Mrs. Smith then blatantly grabbed the waistband of my mother's tight fitting bright spandex shorts. "Ugh, and these are so tight still. You really should request an 'Extra Large', dear. I don’t think these are meant for 45 year old women…”
I wanted so desperately for my mother to stand up for herself. But all that came out of her mouth was "Y-yes well, hopefully when the, uh, the new uniform comes in, I can-”
“Turn around Miriam” Mrs. Smith said stopping my mom in her tracks. “I want to see the back…”
There was a brief moment of hesitation in my mother. I thought this would be where she stood her ground. But then she momentarily locked eyes with Mrs. Smith, who just returned an expectant look.
“Y-yes Mrs. Smith” my mother half said in a question, half not wanting to disobey a customer. She slowly turned around, revealing her unnecessarily “on display” backside tucked into bright colored booty shorts.
“Ugh, these shorts! She looks like some truck station hooker, Hank! Can’t you speak to someone from your golf club about this!”
Just then a pretty, early 20’s, blonde marched over. I was relieved to see this angel come to put us out of our misery. Perhaps she might even talk to Mrs. Smith about touching staff like that!
“Miriam! I said I needed my last table bussed 5 min ago! Get your head out of your tits and stop bothering the customers. Just take their order and get out of the way!” she barely broke stride as she confidently passed. My mother quickly got very nervous and called back “Y-yes Miss Hawkins! R-Right away!”
The smiths all seemed to gleam at my mother as she now nervously fidgeted in place. “S-sorry about that. Miss Hawkins is my new manager. She um, she has a tendency to not allow me to keep my tips if I screw up too much on shift."
"Well I think it’s great you have such a strong leader here, Miriam” Mr. Smith responded. "You can learn a lot from her!”
“Oh I absolutely agree, dear!” Mrs. Smith joined in, “someone like you and our sweet davey here can really flourish under a strong leader. I’ve always said, ’no such thing as a stupid dog. They just need the right owner to train them’. Isn’t that right, Davey?”
I looked up from my shoes for the 1st time and stuttered out my agreeance. “Y-yes Ma’am, um, Mrs. Smith, Ma’am. A d-dog is nothing w-without a strong owner, M-Ma’am." I don’t know why, but I quickly looked back at Ashley to make sure I said the right thing. Her warm smile and approving head shake made my nerves ease slightly.
“Y-yes, well, can I get you anything?", my mother asked. “I really should go clean Miss Hawkins' table before she gets upset with me again."
“We won’t keep you Miriam. We actually stopped by to see if we can ask you if Davey here can join us for our beach trip.”
My mother was barely listening now. Apparently urgent to bus her manager’s old table before getting reprimanded again. While looking over her shoulder “W-what? You want David to…? Wh-where again? Oh, uh, Y-yes, that’s fine whatever you think is best, Mrs. Smith!”
“Oh perfect! We’ll make sure he stays plenty active! Lots to be done! Oh, and we’ll start with a round of sodas, Miriam. Oh, and the chips and guac!”
“Y-yes Mrs Smith. Right away!”
For whatever reason, I felt a pang of dejection and humiliation. My mother barely asked any follow-up questions. Instead she was nervous about being in trouble with “Miss Hawkins” again, who looked like she was barely out of high school herself, and already had my mother dressed like a joke and trembling at her commands. And the way Mr. and Mrs. Smith talked to my mother! Then I felt Ashley’s leg brush up against mine as she giggled along to whatever story Mr. Smith now told the table as the rest laughed along in amusement. In my humiliation, I suddenly felt grounded. I now get a romantic beach trip with Ashley!
The rest of the meal felt like an out of body experience. I was mostly ignored as the family enjoyed their meal. The Smith family ate their food, as I tried to laugh along as if I was in on their private jokes. I picked at my side salad, no dressing. I wanted a burger like Liz and her father had ordered, but Ashley doesn’t like when I eat any foods she thinks are too fatty or might make me too full. She says it makes me “less eager to please”.
Liz made several comments about how good her burger was. It made my stomach loudly grumble, which she smirked at. As we were walking out Mrs. Smith point out my mother by the side door. She was talking with “Miss Hawkins” again. She suggested I go say goodbye to my mother as the rest of the Smiths made their way outside. I didn’t want to interrupt my mother’s conversation and hoped to save us both some humiliation, but Ashley jumped at the chance, thinking it was a great idea. She grabbed my hand and confidently pulled me forward. I resisted ever so slightly at 1st before she gave a slight pull and I looked down as my eyes caught site of her firm buttucks rolling back and forth in her black yoga pants. My thoughts felt cloudy and suddenly my mind seemed to glaze over. It suddenly felt really, really good to follow her. As we walked up I heard the conversation between my mom and the probably 21 year old manager. Miss Hawkins stood with her arms crossed as stared down my mother, who stood before her with her eyes cast firmly on the ground as she nervously shifted her feet.
“Well, what did I tell you about cleaning my tables the SECOND they get up to leave?” Miss Hawkins asked aggressively.
“I-i’m sorry Miss Hawkins, I tried but I-“
“Do I look like I’m interested in your dumb excuses, Miriam. Let’s go. That’s another demerit. Hand it over…” Miss Hawkins said with her hand on her hip, and the other outstretched. She had a hard, expectant look on her face, daring my mother challenge her.
I watched my mother take the few dollars she clung to and slowly put them in the bratty blonde’s hand. I was glad my mom kept her eyes on the ground. It was probably best she didnt have to see the smirk that crept across her tormentor’s perfectly glossy lips.
“OH EM GEE, April!?” Ashley said as we walked up.
Miss Hawkins turned to us and after a breif second said “Ashley!? Holy shit. From high school volleyball? What are you a senior now? You look great hun!” It was odd seeing her bratty and entitled attitude immediately switch to bubbly smiles.
“Oh please, I look like a wreck compared to you. You work here?”
“Yea, I started during my freshman year of college to help pay the bills. I graduate next year though and then it’s bye bye Hoots! It’s not so bad here though. The tips are great.” “That’s awesome. And I see you took this one under your wing? Hi again, Miriam!”
My mother briefly took her eyes off the ground. “Oh, uh, h-hello Miss Smi-“
“You know this little charity case?” April said cutting my mother off.
Ashley giggled and replied she was actually my mother. That’s when April Hawkins looked in my direction for the 1st time. I could feel the heat from her eyes on me. I nervously looked down at the floor and shifted my feet. A trait I suppose I learned. Ashley and April were clearly in full control of this conversation.
“I see the resemblance. Well, everyone just loves our little charity case, don’t we, Miriam?
“Y-yes Miss Hawkins”. I hated seeing my mother refer to this 20 year old ‘Miss Hawkins’ with an honorific while she was just ‘Miriam'. Miss Hawkins was certainly pretty though, she exhumed confidence, and stood with perfect posture, forcing her chest out attractively in her snug white shirt. I liked the way her full lips glittered and shined. I cursed myself for feeling my underwear get tight when I looked at her.
“That’s right, she cleans out tables when the busboys take a break, she works any shifts the girls don’t want, and she’s the only girl that volunteers to split her tips with the other girls. So we get to split basically everything she makes. She can so generous, sometimes she just needs a little ‘push’” April winked at Ashley. "I guess it helps her feel like less of a burden around the young ‘pretty’ girls.”
“Oh well that sounds JUST like my Davey! So sweet and ready to just give, give, give!”
“I could totally tell he was the type. They are such givers these two! And you should feel lucky Davey, not everyone gets to find such a pretty ‘taker’, you know” Miss Hawkins said with a laugh.
“Oh you’re gonna make me blush, April!” Ashley laughed, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “Plus if she’s anything like my Davey”, she said gesturing toward my mother, "I’m sure she works like, so super hard to please you!”
“Oh for sure! Old Miriam here is really a cash cow. The older crowd of guys love still being able to get a quick grab or feel as she serves them, and they don’t have to worry about any reporting or repercussions with her. Not that they’d try that bullshit with me or one of the other girls!”
Ashley smiled on “Don’t I know it, girl. You wouldn’t take that shit from anyone!”
“Got that right! But I’m not gonna report it for little old Miriam here, so the creepers and old perverts usually through a few extra dollars her way. Which ends up rightttt insideee my pockets, ain’t that right Miriam?” My mother nodded along as she gave up any attempt at looking from the floor.
“Well, this has been, like, SO fun!” Ashley gushed. “Just wanted Davey to say hi to mommy”

New player here! Please let me know if this isn't posted in the right place! I've played card games my entire life and love building decks! I absolutely love the LOTR universes beyond cards. I currently own all the precons and purchased 30 set boosters. Got some great pulls and a lot of cards I'd like to make my own decks with!
I've upgraded my precons to the point they are powerful but not too OP for my casual group.
That being said, I have no mana rocks artifacts (command sphere, sol ring, etc.), and non-basic lands. Is there a mtg product that would be good for me to invest in to build my own decks, or just buying singles of these mana rocks/artifacts are better purchased as singles?

Bengaluru broke a 133-year rain record by almost 10mm last Sunday, with 111mm (4.37 inches) of rain falling in a single day. In Sri Lanka, some 24,000 people were displaced by recent flooding. A heat wave swept through the southwest United States and northern Mexico. Part of Niger already broke its June temperature record. Parts of New South Wales, Australia broke nighttime temperatures as well; so did the Philippines, and Vietnam. And a heat wave in Greece.
“Atmospheric blocking” happens when regions of the atmosphere remain stationary for days or weeks, imposing similar weather on a region for a while. A study released in Nature Communications looked at Svalbard, which is warming faster than the Arctic, which is itself warming faster than most of the rest of the planet. The researchers claim that atmospheric blocking has resulted in warmer & wetter conditions in Svalbard, which is driving its ice loss. “The augmented blocking in the Ural and Scandinavian regions in the future combined with the projected declines in sea ice, and increases in sea surface temperatures and moisture availability, will likely increase the magnitude and frequency of exceptional rainfall incidents similar to the 2016 occurrence, posing further hazards to the population and ecosystems in Svalbard.”
A paywalled study in Nature Climate Change emphasizes “in the absence of a global tipping point there is no safety margin within which permafrost loss would be acceptable.” The summary states that permafrost melt does not have a worldwide tipping point, but rather several local temperature thresholds. Permafrost worldwide is expected to be all melted once global temperature gains hit 5 or 6 °C.
We are currently in the brief neutral period between El Niño and La Niña, expected to begin around August. Meteorologists expect temperatures in the eastern Pacific to decline for between 1 and 3 years—and for stronger Atlantic hurricanes. A 14-page report from the WMO forecasts a particularly wet summer for Central America.
Monsoon storms in Sri Lanka killed 14, mostly by falling trees, though others drowned or were covered by landslides. Texas saw “canteloupe-size hail” fall during a freak tornado; some think it is a record size for the region. Experts say some 23% of Africa’s land has been degraded, by five major factors: 1) invasive species, 2) climate change, including Drought and flooding, 3) resource extraction, 4) deforestation, and 5) pollution, including algal blooms. Poverty, population growth, and resource dependencies have aggravated the problem, says the article.
In Kashmir, a glacier Collapsed, sending three plunging into the ice, one of whom has still not been found. In the Philippines, a volcanic mud landslide swept into a village; volcano alerts were raised to 2 (on a 0-5 scale). Rising sea levels are displacing residents of one of Panama’s islands (pop: ~1,200); others will follow. Greece is gearing up for a fierce wildfire season ahead. And, in a moment of hopeful news, Sweden is banning bottom trawling in its “marine protected areas.”
In the EU, early polling appears to show a “greenlash,”, a backlash to the Green Alliance—and perhaps a loss of some 30% of their 72 current seats in the EU Parliament (705 total). Some blame the “moral superiority complex” of Greens, while others believe it is their lack of compromise on important issues. Farmer protests also damaged Green sentiment; now future sweeping climate reforms will probably have to wait years to get passed, since conservatives are expected to make gains. Most results will emerge within 24 hours of this post.
Worldwide, 39% of environmental journalists have faced threats due to their reporting—according to a 112-page report by the Earth Journalism Network. Most of the threats came to reporters writing about illegal extraction operations.
Roughly 20% of sealife near the surface is expected to face a “triple threat” of climate hazards: extreme heat, oxygen loss and acidification. Some of these species will die in place; others will be forced into progressively smaller living spaces. Most of the danger lies in the northern Pacific. The full study in AGU Advances has more.
The UN Secretary-General announced that we are on the “highway to climate hell.” And we aren’t wearing any seatbelts. The EU Copernicus Programme says last May was the hottest on record. This means the last 12 months were the hottest on record, with each consecutive month setting a new monthly record. Our planet is supposedly on the edge of 1.5 °C temperature increase, but some think we’ve already surpassed it.
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) released a 27-page report, “Global Annual to Decadal Climate Update 2024-2028,” predicting short-term temperatures exceeding the 1.5 °C mark.

“The global mean near-surface temperature for each year between 2024 and 2028 is predicted to be between 1.1°C and 1.9°C higher than the average over the years 1850-1900. It is likely (80% chance) that global mean near-surface temperature will exceed 1.5°C above the 1850-1900 average levels for at least one year between 2024 and 2028. It is about as likely as not (47%) that the five-year mean will exceed this threshold….Arctic warming over the next five extended winters (November to March), relative to the average of the 1991-2020 period, is predicted to be more than three times as large as the warming in global mean temperature. Predicted precipitation patterns for 2024, relative to the 1991-2020 average, suggest an increased chance of low rainfall over North-East Brazil and an increased chance of wet conditions in the African Sahel, consistent with the warmer-than-usual temperatures in the North Atlantic….

The Yale Center for Environmental Law & Policy released its 2024 Environmental Policy Index, and the 204 pages illustrate the state of sustainability in 180 countries, according to 58 indicators. The document, full of useful graphics and accessible summaries, presents a world in escalating danger of global heating, pollution, and biodiversity loss. It is well worth skimming. These kinds of climate reports usually seem to me like, overall, much more time was spent making them than people spend reading them…

“Only five countries — Estonia, Finland, Greece, Timor-Leste, and the United Kingdom — cut their GHG emissions at the rate needed to reach zero by 2050….After climate change, biodiversity loss has emerged as the most serious and irreversible environmental crisis….As of 2022, aggregated GHG emissions were falling in 60 countries but still rising in 128…. Human activities, namely the combustion of fossil fuels, of which CO2 is an inevitable byproduct, have caused a nearly 50 percent of the increase in CO2 levels in the atmosphere since the industrial revolution, with atmospheric concentration surpassing 426 parts per million in April 2024 — a level higher than at any point in human history….China, the United States, and India are pivotal, accounting for over half of global GHG emissions…China used more cement in two years (2020 and 2021) than the United States did in the entire twentieth century….Air pollution remains the most serious environmental threat to public health. Long-term exposure to fine particulate matter less than 2.5 µm in diameter (PM2.5) caused 7.8 million premature deaths in 2021, close to 12 percent of global deaths…” -selections from the first third of the report

Mexico saw its first human case of a bird flu strain, H5N2, in a dead man supposedly with no known previous exposure to animals. Two turkey farms got outbreaks in Minnesota, and Iowa’s first dairy farm reported bird flu as well. American health authorities expect H5N1 human cases to rise in the coming weeks. Bird flu was also found in San Francisco last week. Millions of human vaccine doses for bird flu are being prepared for the United States this summer.
Citigroup says the United States is already in a recession, though other institutions disagree. Nevertheless, junk bonds are becoming even more junky, and economists agree that the economy is at least slowing down. Credit card debt is reportedly rising, and the “personal savings rate” has dropped to pre-COVID levels. “America’s debt accumulation over the last seven years is akin to the costs of a world war,” says the article. Cuts to the Federal Reserve interest rate are coming, and the rise of tariffs is unlikely to stop soon. And Europe’s strongest economy, Germany, is not seeing a strong recovery from last year’s recession.
Thousands are starving in Ethiopia’s Tigray region, where Drought and school dropouts have also worsened. Investigators claim in a new report that both sides in the Tigray War committed grave war crimes and “acts of genocide” in the conflict, which ended (on paper, anyway) in November 2022; intercommunal violence continues at a lower intensity.
The American Heart Association released a report projecting the rates of heart illnesses by 2050, and they believe the rate of hypertension among adults will rise from about 51% in 2020 to 61% in 2060. Diabetes rates are expected to jump from about 16% in 2020 to almost 27% in 2050; and obesity rates will expand 17% to over 60%... A number of other heart conditions are expected to worsen as well, though at least high cholesterol rates are expected to decrease.
A 12-page report by Oil Change International says what we all know: most nations are failing to meet climate targets. “Some G7 countries are massively expanding fossil fuel production at home, while others are investing in more fossil fuel infrastructure abroad.” China is, far and away, adding more renewable energy capacity than any other nations on earth, supposedly adding “over 90% of all renewable capacity mentioned in NDCs {nationally determined contributions}” in the 2020s so far.
The U.S. FDA has unanimously recommended a new vaccine be developed to address the JN.1 COVID variant. Vaccine-manufacturers say that a new vaccine could arrive as early as mid-August. A 242-page prepublication report on the long-term dangers of Long COVID, with a view to planning future impacts on Social Security.

“Even individuals with a mild initial course of illness can develop Long COVID with severe health effects….Women are twice as likely as men to experience Long COVID….Long COVID can cause more than 200 symptoms and affects each person differently….There currently is no curative treatment for Long COVID itself. Management of the condition is based on current knowledge about treating the associated health effects and other sequelae….Long COVID symptoms generally improve over time, although preliminary studies suggest that recover can plateau 6-12 months after acute infection. Studies have shown that only 18-22 percent of those who have persistent symptoms at 5-6 months following infection have fully recovered by 1 year. Germany reported African swine flu in some pigs in the northeast. Monkeypox cases remain in the United States, and at higher rates than last year, despite waning media coverage. And four strains of dengue fever, yes four, are still sweeping through Brazil with no end in sight.
A number of current & former employees at OpenAI are warning of the careless pursuit of dominance of the artificial intelligence arena—and the supposed 70% chance that AI could bring about “doom” for humanity. Some of the computer scientists believe that a general intelligence (AGI) could arrive as soon as 2027—a generation earlier than previous estimates of roughly 2050. "The world isn’t ready, and we aren’t ready," said one dissenting researcher.

The intervention into Haiti is almost ready to go, but gangsters in Haiti have escalated attacks against police in advance of the Kenya-led operation, set to begin in a week or two. “The gangs are just waiting for the Kenyans, they’re just cracking their knuckles and stretching out.…It’s going to be a battle if not a bloodbath of a war, because the gangs are ready,” said one ex-diplomat. A new PM has been installed, Garry Conille, a guy who previously served as PM for 4 about months in 2011-2012. Gangs vying for power control roughly 80% of Port-Au-Prince; will they remain fragmented upon the arrival of an outside coalition, or make an alliance of convenience to oppose police intervention?
Although New Caledonia’s state of emergency has ended, over $1B of damage has been wrought by rioters opposing an expansion of voting rights. Analysts say that the Pacific island’s abundant nickel reserves—essential for France’s renewable energy push—have seen their extraction obstructed by recent events. A curfew remains in place, and social cohesion has been seriously damaged by the protests and the central government’s reactions.
President Biden issued new orders restricting the flow of migrants and asylum-seekers at the Mexico border. At the U.S./Canada border, migrant arrivals have spiked 1000%+ in the last 3 years. Days before the EU election, Portugal instituted stronger controls over immigration. On the Poland/Belarus border, a Polish soldier died, after being stabbed by a migrant from Belarus.
Georgia’s controversial foreign agents bill has been signed into law despite strong protests from the masses. Some call the law a form of Russian hybrid warfare, though Russia contends that allowing foreign media funding functions as a kind of anti-Russian hybrid warfare on its own.
South Korea suspended a military agreement with North Korea over their waste balloons sent into the South. This will result in a more militarized border, outside the DMZ, in the coming months. President Putin is also planning a visit to Pyongyang, which has been long-supplying materiel to Russia for use in Ukraine. A border clash between Chinese and Indian forces took place in their contested mountains—using only sticks and stones.
Conditions in Gaza are said to be “beyond crisis levels” for the 1M+ people who have been displaced from Rafah, as the Israeli advance continues—despite calls from the ICJ to halt the operation. “The sounds, the smells, the everyday life, are horrific and apocalyptic,” said one observer. Killings in the West Bank have now exceeded 500 since October 7, and aid deliveries have sunk 65%+ since the Rafah offensive began. A strike on a school killed 45 people sheltering there, according to Gaza officials. In the coastal settlement of al-Mawasi, where many IDPs moved after the Rafah invasion began, toilets are so scarce that over 4,000 people share a single latrine.
The battlefield is expanding; in some ways, it has always been all-encompassing, and it’s only now that the world is re-learning it. Ukraine has sent soldiers to Syria to fight Wagner Group mercenaries operating in the failed state. Ukraine had earlier intervened in Sudan to combat Russian forces operating in the country. Ukraine also struck an air defense unit inside Russia for the first time, marking another escalation in the War. Russia struck Ukraine’s largest hydroelectric power plant in Dnipro, which is now in “critical condition.” Russia reportedly intends to restart the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant at some point, though international regulators argue that it would be unsafe to turn Europe’s largest nuclear facility online while War still rages around it. Half of Ukraine’s electrical generation has been taken offline. Although weapons are reaching Ukraine’s frontlines, they are not enough to change the tide of the War—and are still outnumbered by Russian soldiers & munitions. Ukraine is also crowd-sourcing 3D-printing drone parts to support their drone fleets—a key part of future modern warfare.
Russia also claims that French military instructors within Ukraine present a lawful military target for Russian forces—and an opportunity to start WWIII. But others believe the flashpoint may come from elsewhere—Taiwan, or the unfolding Israel/Hamas/Hezbollah/Iran conflict, which are intensifying on the Lebanon/Israel border. Russia is also taking over Niger’s uranium reserves, once held by a French corporation. And four Russian sea vessels will be visiting Cuba—but not carrying nuclear weapons.
Around Sudan’s capital, looters, checkpoints, and violence have been established. Several torture chambers have been discovered, and the smell of death hangs in the air of a few neighborhoods, contested by both sides. The number of displaced people is approaching 10M. Russia is supposedly playing both sides to its advantage. “All over Sudan, people are going hungry because they have lost everything, the economy has collapsed, and armed men frequently steal what little aid is available,” said one reporter. The insurgent RSF forces are said to not only be fighting for the future, but fighting over history as well. The National Museum has become a cemetery for RSF fighters. University archives have been burned. And ancient artifacts have been cleared out, sold to mysterious buyers, stashed away in unknown places, or simply destroyed… Other horror stories are still emerging; this article details some of the worst recent tales in the War.
One major NATO supplies provider claims that a decade of arms accumulation is coming, to replenish stockpiles given to Ukraine and in advance of a potential open War between China and whatever western nations decide to participate. China announced its intention to detain vessels moving into its alleged national waters near the Philippines—and presumably to sink those which resist. Ukraine used up six years’ worth of shoulder-fired missiles, like javelins, in just one year. The development of the F-35 will exceed $2T, although the U.S. military is planning on using it less than previously expected. NATO is also planning its rapid-transit troop corridors through Europe to the expected frontlines of a potential open War against Russia.

Modern op* is not just a regular FPS shooting game but also a place where I can immerse myself in my passion by participating in dramatic match experiences. I highly appreciate this game, which has extremely beautiful graphics and very vivid sound. I really had moments of feeling like I was actually fighting on the battlefield. Furthermore, I am also quite attracted by the guns and melee weapons that this game creates. Those weapons look quite cartoonish, if I don’t want to say much cuter than the purpose for which they should be used. I think this is partly because those guns have been decorated with patterns to make them look as friendly as possible rather than taking the actual guns from outside.

VARIETY OF MODERN GUNS AND CUSTOMIZATIONS

The weapons here revolve around guns, and those guns are completely inspired by real-life guns. For me personally, this game does not have as many types of weapons as other shooting games I have played. But in return, each gun in this game will be decorated with many different accessories. Don’t misunderstand these accessories are just for decoration. All of the accessories I talk about here can completely positively affect the player’s ability to aim and shoot in a real battle. Some accessories that I often use for my guns are silencers and improved sights.

• More Than 30 Guns: The game has many types of guns for players to choose from, from sniper guns to heavy guns freely; all are here.
• Camo Customizations: These guns are also invested in by game makers to create many versions with different paint colors and patterns.

MULTIPLAYER BATTLES

The game has one main mechanism: participating in battle and defeating opponents. With that mechanism, we can also understand that defeating here will mean defeating an entire team of the opponent because we will not be completely alone in this battle. In battles, we will be assigned to a team with 4 strangers, and from there, we need to find a way to coordinate with them in the most harmonious way and win. In addition to the coordination needed in the game, we can also join famous clans of the server we are playing. This will partly help us have teammates who can understand each other much more easily than the people assigned by the game.

• 10 Player PvP: Here, there will be 10 people participating in the battle, and the game will automatically divide the number of players to 5 people on each side.
• Global Clans: In addition, we can also join clans to compete regionally.

DIVERSE GAME MODES

This game has quite a few different game modes, and to be honest, they are quite interesting and bring quite a good experience compared to a mobile game. However, this game is missing a game mode that I think it should have, which is a single-match mode. I prefer the feeling of defeating anything that stands in my way alone rather than bringing glory to the whole team. However, this game only has team fighting modes such as placing a boom or team death match. But speaking of which, those modes will be more popular with most players, so I also partly understand why the game doesn’t have a solo mode.

• Team Deathmatch: Team deathmatch is probably the hottest and most popular game mode for players.
• Special Modes: Besides the try hard game mode that this game has, the game also helps players have more entertainment in survival mode when zombies surround them.

Jeg er en mand på 30, der så småt har fattet, hvorfor ting har været, som de har.
En ting der går igen i stort alt jeg foretager mig, er en overskyggende mængde selvbevidsthed. Derfor har jeg gennem de sidste mange år virkelig været opmærksom på div. ting jeg har kunne genkende i mig selv, dog aldrig med henblik på en selvdiagnose. Har udemærket været klar over at det ikke fungerede sådan. Siden da, har jeg altid haft en fornemme af at der var noget,”galt”.
Har altid maskeret, følt mig falsk og uoprigtig. Aldrig passet ind, men heller aldrig haft lyst. Har haft ét reelt forhold, som kun lige nåede kriterierne for et forhold. Det ødelagde jeg selv, grundet egen usikkerhed.
Da det gik op for mig, at jeg også selv stod med ansvaret for at have smadret alle mine håb og drømme, med logikken om at man jo ikke kan fejle, hvis man aldrig prøver. Der føltes det hele tabt. For jeg var allerede ligeglad. Det var for omkring 10 år siden.
Min. 10år, hvor der ingen glæde har været af finde. Ikke at jeg overhoved ledte. Og stadig idag, har jeg ikke lyst alt hvad jeg engang elskede at gøre.
Frem til dagen, hvor jeg nåede mit bristepunkt og havde en nedsmeltning. Hvorefter dit gik op for mig, at jeg ikke længere værken kunne, eller skulle, bide det i mig.
Tog mig selv i nakken og fik en lægetid. Det blev til en henvisning og lige pludselig fløj tiden. Blev så ringet op forleden at klinikken og fik at vide at deres konklusion var autisme. De opfordrede efterfølgende til at kontakte min egen læge, med henblik på yderligere behandling ved en psykolog.
Jeg er ikke i nærheden af overrasket. Afklaret, dog forvirret samtidig. Det er som om jeg har vidste det hele tiden, men så lige pludselig ikke at kunne forstå noget som helst.
Og ud af det blå, er jeg i tvivl om alt lige fra; “Er jeg måske bare tosset? “Er det noget jeg finder på?” Til “måske er jeg hårdere ramt end som så?”
Det er så forvirrende at jeg nu har givet op med at sætte ord på. Det endte jo alligevel med en masse ubrugelig ynk, i stedet for hvad jeg tilsyneladende ikke kan udtrykke.

I'm one year post op. Started at 380 I've been stalled at 245 for a month and a half. I've started to notice I don't feel full nearly as fast or really ever get a feeling of fullness. I don't even start to feel sick. The food noise was gone up until three months ago and it has me stressing out because I would love to lose another 30 pounds but I always feel hungry even when I know I shouldn't be. I honestly miss living life with food not on my mind. I felt so liberated like I could live life to the fullest again and the food noise is so loud.
I had the RNY bypass surgery.

Planen var at få et truck certifikat - B, samt relevante kurser, såsom almen lager styring, lagerstyring med it, enhedslaster samt varemodtagelse og vareopfyldning, pluk og pak og lign.
Dette ville koster mig 5200 (troede jeg) men det var TILSKUDSBELØBET.
Som ledig, så skal jeg vurderes af jobcentret, hvorvidt jeg kan blive til noget eller ej. Denne vurdering er så ikke eksisterende, grundet jeg er i aktivering.
Derfor vil de ikke godkende forløbet. Alene truck certifikat vil koste ud af egen lomme 6200 + 550 for lægeerklæring da jeg er uden kørekort.
Samlet koster kurserne 16.400 og så truck oven i. Det er jo umuligt.
Jeg har ligeledes søgt alle jobs i Randers og omegn indenfor rækkevidde med busser (ca 30km ud af byen alle retninger)
De henvendelser jeg får er afvisninger... Jeg blev endda afvist som burgervender på McDonalds. Jamen altså 🤦
Har så fundet GULDET for mig. Kommer i aktivering på et sted hvor du primært har skolegang for optimering af undervisning pga jeg er gennem UUR fordi jeg er under 30. De fokusere mere på uddannelse, hvilket er fint. Jeg vil gerne, men jeg har stor gæld fra dumme beslutninger i mine yngre dage. Så jeg kan ikke i min nuværende situation, gå på SU. De er ikke lyttende og ret lydhør på området...
Jeg finder frem til en gylden mellemvej HELT SELV, ingen hjælp fra uur, jobcenter eller aktiveringsindsatsen. Fandt ud af at jeg kan komme på noget der hedder EUV3. EUV, også kendt som erhvervsuddannelse for voksne, kan iværksættes.
Vilkårene for EUV3 er, ingen eller minimal (kvu) uddannelse, du er 25+
Man får skåret 10% af skolegangen fra på uddannelse. Før dette skal men kompetence vurderes af et hold. Du skal lave nogle standard skoleopgaver (lidt a la eksamen bare uden at være det) samt lave et forløb hvor de ser din srbejdskapacitet . Altså, kan du noget som arbejdsmarkedet kan bruge, samt leve op til timeantal og dit og dat.
Det er sådan set meget fint. Hvis jeg blive godkendt, og laver en uddannelsesaftale med en virksomhed, så kan jeg slippe skolegang. Altså, jeg bliver uddannet via euv3 forløb på en virksomhed som betaler elevløn. Mit mål er lager-og terminaluddannelsen. Den vil så tage det samme tid som den originale længde, foruden alt skolegangen.
Min opgave er nu, at overtale en virksomhed til at lade mig gå ved dem som lager - og terminal elev. Dette kan jeg så faktisk også bruge til fordel, at jeg er igennem jobcenteret...
Jeg har jo mulighed for at de lærer mig alt det vigtigste inden elev forløbet, igennem en praktik på alt mellem 1-3 mdr, afhængig af, hvor meget de vil have jeg skulle kunne inden. Derfra dertil, så vil jeg så kunne blive ansat som elev, og klare uddannelsen under almene arbejdsvilkår i virksomheden.
Foruden dette, så kan staten endda give lønkompensation til virksomheden op til dagpengeydelsen. Med voksen elevløn på omtrent 18.000, jamen så dækker staten jo nærmest hele lønnen. Jeg koster simpelthen virksomheden næsten 0 kroner, og så bare tid.
Det er et opråb til dem der kan, dem det vil og dem der skal. Almene ordinære uddannelser kan tages gennem EUV 3 for folk over 25.
Du kan skære dele af skolegangen fra, eller hele skolegangen via uddannelsesaftale med en virksomhed.
Du får simpelthen en fuld uddannelse på lige vilkår med andre, bare på elevløn, og forkortet, uden at det bliver til en KVU.
Snak med din uu vejleder. Min var total optimistisk og mener at dette kan lade sig gøre.
Jeg skal ligeså snakke med min A-kasse ang hjælp til at bruge deres netværk for at få uddannelsesaftalen i hus .
Det er vigtigt at notere, at jeg har mine problematikker, som gør at jeg ikke er egnet til at side og lave lektier i længere perioder ad gangen. Jeg er god til den praktiske del, og ved hvad jeg laver samt forstår mine opgaver hurtigt.
Jeg kan bare ikke det med undervisning så godt, og derfor søger jeg gerne ikke uddannelses vejen... Dog har jeg erfaret at uddannelse er vigtigt. Jeg kan ikke en gang blive burgervender på McDonalds... Tænk hvis man fik et job som ufaglært og virksomheden lukkede om 15 år. Ville job være nemmere uden uddannelse til den tid? Næppe!
Jeg tænker at mange kan bruge den her viden til noget. Euv3 er som sendt fra guderne til de af os, som ikke har de store færdigheder indenfor teoretisk faglig undervisning.
Husk det. EUV3!
