Before I say anything, I want to thank everyone for the amount of responses I have gotten. Me too miss the 2000s like the back of my hand as well, especially Cool Math Games and Club Penguin. I have to tell you something as the reason why I asked you guys for your memories of fun during that time. I was isolated for most if not for all my childhood because I have been dragged into therapies a lot. No after school activities, boyfriends/childhood friends, online chatting (my mother hated Minecraft), going to sleepovers or friends parties or middle school dances, nothing like that happened. It really affected my negativity in terms of mental health and crave for nostalgia that I never had. I always wanted a boyfriend not just between a year or two older (I am not marrying people older than that; it does count if they are the same age) but also kind, smart, loyal/honest, caring, and will always got my back yet it never happened when every Valentine's Day passes by. Sexually-repulsed me would always love to listen to love songs, talk about my interests and never think about "my body with another body doing stuff in the bed." So TL;DR: I was lonely as a neurodivergent/Sexually-repulsed ace and it hurt me in the long run

I met a guy one day, I thought he was cute. Suddenly he got my number, and we slowly started talking.
We would text, he would ask me questions like what my favorite songs were, what my hobbies were, etc
He would always say that there was a side I was hiding, and he was gonna break it, to get to know that side that I was hiding.
We would talk almost everyday, we work together, he would help me sometimes with finding things, or taking things back.
He was going to meet dad and mom, my siblings. We were going to hangout, but that did not go as planned
On the day of February 14th 2024, he sends me a text while at work saying this is not going to work out, he was talking to multiple girls, and hopefully we could still be friends.
I always knew, I never liked Valentine’s Day. But, when I received that message in my phone, it broke me, I was hurt, and I wanted to cry, but then I also just wanted to sigh in relief, like I didn’t have to try and make him happy if I he wasnt happy, and I wasn’t happy, and I wasn’t in the right mindset for it.
I hope he is happy, I hope he found what he wanted
I hope someone treats him like what he did to me.
I hope one day I could forgive and forget
But, that won’t be anytime soon.

I'm taking it step by step slowly covering all of his songs into the massive tier list with the 16th ranking being X and ski songs!. if I miss something or u disagree with a ranking lmk and I might change the position next post.

Hi all, I just got an mvave wireless midi pedal in order to control my neural dsp plugins. I am wondering if there is any way to program GP to stop / start playback of a loop or song with the controller. I think it would be great for practicing certain sections over and over but couldn't find anything on this functionality or if it exists. Appreciate any help! thanks.

For context me and my girlfriend both have social anxiety so communication is hard for us sometimes. We know it's something we need to work on. After a really fun night she dropped me off at my house and I saw a notification that she followed me on her personal Instagram diary account. I spent hours scrolling through the page until almost 4 am. It was weird for me because I was seeing posts about me that I had never seen before, some memes about before we met (some hurtful) and other posts that were while we were talking/dating. I started to go a bit insane and started lining up our texts to the posts to get a sense of the time line. I found that the day after valentines day she posted a meme about dreaming about a lesbian relationship, the caption was about seigfried by frank ocean. I know I little about frank oceans song but I thought I should search up the meaning. It turns out one of the meanings for that song is deciding between loving two genders. The next post was the same day also about her watching lesbian porn to end off her night. (The day after valentines day). I don't care about her watching porn but knowing that I'm the only guy she's been with, and she's probably wondering what a lesbian relationship is like. I mentioned this to her a couple days ago but I don't think she understood why I was feeling the way I was. We both cried for a bit and she admitted she wants to try being with a girl eventually which is realistic given we are only 19. I told her I was sorry and It was unrealistic to think everything lasts forever. I've also told her how obsessed I am with her so many times but I think she doesn't feel the same way. I'm very naive but I imagine growing old with this girl, she's told me she feels the same, but honestly I want to throw up knowing I'm probably holding her back from experiencing better things in life.

I have just started moving my library into Apple Music in the hope that it would give a CarPlay experience but I have noticed an interesting technical issue. I have lossless original copies of some of my music (for example, 96khz 24 bit songs ripped from DVD audio included with "deluxe" editions of albums) which I converted to AAC to use with Apple Music, but I didn't do any downsampling so I would have for example 256kbps AAC files that still preserved the 96khz samplerate of the source audio.
I assumed that Apple Music would be able to handle that fine, but when I play any of those songs the output is very distorted. It will be full of pops and crackles and randomly speed up, slow down, or move to the next song prematurely. I am listening with wired headphones on my 2018 Macbook Pro. If I open the same files in Audacity on the same computer and play them they play fine, also if I re-encode from the original .flac files but downsample to 44.1khz during the conversion the new AAC files play fine in Apple Music. So it doesn't seem like there's a problem with the audio files themselves, Apple Music is just not playing them back correctly.
Digging into it a bit, it seems like Apple at some point started selling "hi-res" versions of some songs through their store so there is some discussion about that here, here and here. Thanks to those threads I found out about the "Audio Midi Setup" app which I didn't know about before and I made sure that my headphones were set to 96khz but that did not change anything. Also I learned that apparently you need an external DAC and use "exclusive mode" in order to truly play back at 96khz which was interesting. I assume that when I play these songs in other apps it is not truly 96khz then, and they are downsampling internally, but that raises the question of why isn't Apple Music doing the same thing?
I'm not particularly interested in "bit perfect" playback so I don't mind if my 96khz files get downsampled to 44.1khz at some point on the way to the speakers, I'm just wondering if it's a bug in Apple Music that it doesn't do that automatically when it encounters a 96khz song the way other applications apparently are doing, or if there's a setting somewhere I've accidentally changed which is causing it to choke on these higher samplerate songs.

As for the mapping file, I mapped the cue buttons, loop, load a and load b buttons with the encoder to scroll the song list, fx buttons (on/off) and the dry/wet knob for each of them. Additionally, the shift for in/out/loop can be used to control stem pads (drums, vocal, inst in that order)

Important Stuff and Things!

I have managed to rescue /RWBYFanfiction from an untimely demise! If you would like to share your fanfic or make recommendations, head on over there! I know that I've said something special was coming for this, but Ruby on Rails is hard and not cheap to operate. The fanfiction indexer that I was trying to set up just isn't working and probably needs someone with more experience in RoR programming/design. I haven't completely put it to bed, but it might be a while before I can circle back to it. In the meantime, the fanfic sub has actually had a decent amount of postings - head on over and say hi! :)

I'm starting a personal project and I need to have 10 to 15 Vietnamese songs (FLAC, MP3) converted to MIDI files. Note that I'm not looking for the MIDI files that is used for karaoke where there is no foreground melody. (Those I can find easily online everywhere). I need it to include the full melody. Just think of it as how a song is heard from a mechanical music box. I need the full song (vocal, foreground, background) converted to a 1-track MIDI file
I'm posting in this forum instead of a music forum because the songs are mostly traditional Vietnamese folk songs (e.g, Bolero) and it's better to have someone very familiar with Vietnamese music.

So, it’s been suggested that we present a simplified overview of the recent essays (linked below) that I co-wrote with respected analyst Hanna Kahlert, of renowned London-based MIDiA Research, which covered so much territory of interconnected concepts that all affect the current and future viability of the music industry. This summary eschews the essays’ “$10 words,” (with the exception of using “eschews” here!) with which some have struggled, and is shared in the bite-sized, more digestible form of a survey and petition in combination with this summary/bullet point preface of some of the most salient points. The survey and petition presents the essence of our thesis in the uncomplicated context of a proactive social impact campaign format.
First, let me explain. I grew up in a Long Island suburb town (about thirty miles outside New York City) during the “English Invasion” of music. I’d first hear new releases on my FM clock radio tuned to stations that prided themselves on finding the “cool stuff” first. It was a time when we were met almost every day with another astounding, mind-blowing record and artist to discover, often with something worth thinking about and culturally significant. Sometimes these releases would even be life-changing. Many of these recordings would become iconic — classic evergreens with songs covered endlessly. Yes, like today, there were also dismissable records then. The difference would seem to be that there are more songs about nothing today, replete with de rigeur profanity that only further detracts and is anything but “cool." While there are some very imaginative productions and impressive singers, there are few records now that demand a cerebral, emotional response, and there is a dearth that will be remembered as moving the needle at all, so to speak. Even customary love themes are largely just recycled imitations of the greats.
Since I also relate to the sensitivity of empaths — someone attuned to the deep feelings of those around them at a personal level — I tend to gravitate to music with a message that connects with us viscerally, that which touches the soul. Especially in our currently fraught times, there clearly is a need for thought-provoking music and for more attention given to the evolution of this genre of what was once deemed “protest songs.” Socially poignant music is a category that disguises protest in metaphors and yet is just as potent. It will create community and superfans, lift spirits, and engender a large movement of positive social advocacy. I established Socially Driven Music to develop and market #Music4APurpose. The concept resonated with Hanna Kahlert and we set about to co-write what we envision.
While developing our conclusions towards offering actionable, viable value-propositions for the music industry, we took several months to sort our ideas, research, digest and assimilate the daily deluge of information about changes battering the music industry. While I wasn’t aware that Mark Mulligan, MIDiA’s Founder and Managing Director, was developing his “Bifurcation Theory,” it is validating to be in sync with his thinking and to be presenting what I consider to be the roadmap to implementing that theory. I am excited about offering takeaways that will hopefully propel many away from feelings of helpless, hopeless despair and towards optimism and positive activism through the enrapture we seek from our music and the communities built around it.
Socially driven music has traditionally been a powerful way to raise awareness about issues across the board, such as Discrimination, Climate, Democracy, Mental Health, Bullying, Substance Abuse, Antisemitism, Equality, Homelessness, Veterans, Suicide,Terrorism, Gun Control, Women’s Productive Rights, Food and Clean Water Insecurity, Cancer and other illnesses, Animal Rights/Protection, Environmental Justice, Oceans, LGBTQ+ rights, etc. Our mandate recognizes the crucial difference of a sustained campaign animated by a song.
Above all, we must always remember and honor “The Greatest Generation” (and all Veterans) who fought and died upholding ideals that they expected us to continue to respect. Political affiliation is most often indoctrinated and not questioned individually. Support traditional Republican philosophy if you must, but #MAGA is not the antidote to Democrats and is authoritarian and dangerous to our democracy!
All causes, including music rights, are affected by the influence of a common denominator — politics. Each social cause group is a large community which can be further grown and energized with the natural evolution of fans to music superfans. Compelling socially thematic music enraptures and beckons fans to demonstrate their proud commonality and membership in a next generation fan club that can actually impact society with its fervor and political influence.
