There is a poster going around in my community for an informational workshop that aims to support the community with visas for seniors (56 years or older) alleging family unity. The Requirements for a Mexican National elderly adult include a valid passport, updated birth certificate, voter ID, membership in Peregrinos de Fe, and covering processing fees. For relative in the US the requirements are living in the US, being immediate family, and fill out inscription forms. This poster is being hung in Mexican stores and ran by Mexican people so I am assuming they’re aiming for that target audience. The coordinator I know personally is a tax services woman who claims to be certified AND registered by USCIS to I guess give advice on immigration matters but she does charge for this and she isn’t part of any charity organization. Is this fraud? I just don’t see how an elderly adult in Mexico can get a visa this way. They say if you are undocumented then the Peregrinos de Fe organization will invite your family member for you so they can get the visa. From their facebook page, they don’t seem or represent themselves as a religious organization more of an immigration help page . TYIA

So, it's been a few weeks since things went down. Please check my profile for the prior post for background info. Last time I tried to insert a link to a prior post, it didn't show up.
Onto the story...
Jess is in a lot of trouble. 2 weeks ago, the cops and CPS showed up because of my report and made her call her ex Keith to come pick up the boys and take them to a facility for forensic interviews. The boys have been staying with Keith since this happened, and apparently, Jess has only seen the boys for a half hour in the last 2 weeks, even though Keith hasn't tried to keep her from seeing them.
Two days ago they had a hearing with FOC about custody because CPS had Keith file an ex parte for emergency temporary custody. Keith asked me to be there, so I went and sat in the middle behind/between their tables. I was there primarily for the boys. I wasn't called to speak, which is fine.
The referee asked what Keith's offer was, and he stated that he was fine with everything going back to normal, so long as Erik was gone. He would have to be removed from the house permanently and have no contact with the boys, and Jess would be able to have the boys back. Jess did not agree to this, which floored everyone in the room.
Jess's counter offer was for the boys to go stay with a family friend of hers, that Keith knows and trusts as well, and she would visit them during the week and they would go to Keith on the weekends. She had a 6 page write-up about why she didn't want the boys with Keith full-time. The referee flat out told her that she wasn't going to be allowed to read that.
So, an evidentiary hearing has been called. In the meantime, Jess is to have visitations with the boys on Saturdays from noon to 8pm. The referee was extremely exasperated with Jess during the whole hearing, so I'm surprised she granted that much.
Jess admitted in open court that Erik has CP on his phone, but tried to downplay it saying that it's all animated and not real kids. She said they were told that since he cooperated and handed over his electronics, that they weren't looking at him for charges. Being a cop's daughter, I know that's the bullshit they tell people to keep them from running.
All of us were just sitting there stunned at how absolutely unhinged she sounds. The referee even buried her head on her hands several times during the hearing because she just couldn't believe what was coming out of Jess's mouth. I feel like I don't know who she is anymore.
After things wrapped up, Keith and his girlfriend Maddie invited me out to lunch to calm down. The plan after that was for me to go back to their place to see the boys. On our way to the restaurant, Keith called the CPS worker to give her an update on the hearing, but he had to leave a message.
While we were eating, the CPS worker called back and he told her what the ruling was. As soon as she heard that Jess was getting visitations, she immediately said, "No. She is not allowed to be around the boys unsupervised. I will be contacting the court to get that ruling changed." The only explanation she gave was that she has evidence from the cops that necessitated that decision.
Again, all of us are floored. Keith and Maddie think that the cops may think that Jess is a flight risk. But I think it has more to do with the relationship that Jess and Erik got into with a girl I'll call Lani and her boyfriend Tanner.
Lani is the daughter of one of their mutual friends, Kenny. For whatever reason, Lani was living with Kenny's parents in a different state until recently. I was told that she was 17, but I don't think that's true. She always seemed and looked much younger than that.
Lani had been assaulted by a group of guys recently before coming back here. I don't know where she met Tanner, but he's in his 20's so obviously her grandparents don't approve. I also suspect that Tanner may be schizophrenic or at least suffer from severe delusions.
Jess and Erik took them in. Erik made no bones about wanting to be intimate with Lani, and I warned Jess that it wasn't a good idea because of her age and trauma. Apparently this happened anyway, and Jess was involved (I suspected but had no real evidence, so this wasn't in my report). Lani has a baby girl now that her grandparents have custody of.
Tanner is convinced that it's his kid, but I don't think so. I think it's Erik's and that's why the grandparents are holding off on paternity testing for Tanner.
I don't know who told the cops and CPS, but Keith informed me that Lani is cooperating with the authorities. This means that they are looking at Jess for possible SA, which would explain why CPS doesn't want her around her boys unsupervised.
At this point, she doesn't know that the order is being changed. CPS said not to tell her. They are going to speak to her about it.
I feel like I opened a huge can of maggots by reporting. It just keeps getting worse, and more things keep coming out about what Erik has done and manipulated Jess into doing. It's like one of those true-life documentaries you watch about serial killers that make you wonder why humans are like that, and how they get away with it for so long. And how the people around them can rationalize their behaviors.
I'm sorry this update isn't a good one. I wish it was. I don't know what to do anymore besides help Keith and Maddie. I love Jess, but I can't side with her. Those boys are in danger with her and she won't see it. She won't even choose them over Erik. The whole thing just makes me cry.

We applied in NY for a marriage based green card in Sept 2023 (sent to USCIS Chicago lockbox). We got married in August 2023 and had been together for 4 years. I (Beneficiary) came to study to the US from Mexico in 2020 on a student visa and was on OPT STEM when applying. My husband (Petitioner) is an American citizen.
Checking the timeline on USCIS wasn't dependable as it would change from a 4 month wait to 2 months and then 4 again. We would also check this website and we could see who was getting approved and when they had applied. We tried not to check every day as we realized it caused us a lot of anxiety. Make sure to keep a copy of everything and keep it as orderly as possible. From what I've read this helps with the process in general and in case you get a RFE. I read as much as I could online and watched Youtube videos explaining how to fill out each form. I also kept a Google sheet where I could track everything and add helpful links. You need a lot of time to check and re-check everything, get translations notarized, get affidavits, etc. so give yourself plenty of time. As stressful as the whole thing was, I enjoyed going back to our relationship and revisiting old photos and messages. Reading affidavits from our close ones also made me tear up. I do feel like I aged 10 years during the process and had a lot of anxiety so know that you're not alone! I will try to answer questions but I am not a lawyer and did the whole process w/o one, again - just reading online and getting information from USCIS.gov.

Have I got a boomemil story for you! Let's go on an adventure...warning...I tell stories with rabbit holes and tangents. This is probably gonna be too long. I'm sorry!!!
So, the characters are me (40f), boomer MIL (64f BM for short, like bowel movement bc she's caca), my oldest son, (17m), and my church "mom" (65f CM for short).
A little background: BM thinks she's an awesome mom and grandma even though she's not. She uses my kids as facebook props to show off how "wonderful" she is. The only reason she was around my kids so often was because we went to the same church. She lived 10 minutes down the road from us, but could never be bothered to come over or have anything to do with any of us is if we didn't initiate. She has always said that if we ever try to threaten to keep our kids away from her, like if we were having a disagreement, that she would not fight to see them. We've never threatened to keep our kids from her, she just wanted us to know that she didn't give a sh!t to see her gandkids. So, that tells you right there, that she's a grandma when it's convenient for her.
She's of the boomer mentality that mental health issues are made up and aren't real. "You have nothing to be depressed about." "Just snap out if it." "Just be happy." You get the point. I struggle with depression, I always have. She doesn't understand or even try to understand and is the least empathetic person I've ever met.
When I get overwhelmed, I get depressed, and I start shutting down. My plate is overflowing right now. Between the end of the school year and the possibility of us moving states, I've been overwhelmed. My oldest is a senior and the last month of senior year is crazy busy. I have another child (11m) in public school and this is his last year of elementary school, so this has been an extremely busy month for him. I have 3 more kids that do online public school/homeschool. So, they're home all day with online classes, but since they're a public school, they have mandatory state testing just like regular public school. I have had to take them to do state testing on 4 different days overyhe last few weeks and the meeting place was 45 minutes from home, at a conference room in a mall. I also babysit 3 kids (1m, 4m, 4f), so hanging out for 4 to 5 hours a day on 4 different days with a shitload of kids at the f#cking mall was not easy. Not to mention the positions and "jobs" that I hold at church. To say I'm busy is an understatement.
We've been planning on moving for the last few months because a position at my husband's work is coming open near where he grew up, which is in another state. His parents recently moved back to their hometown after my FIL retired, so one reason for the move would be to be closer to them. They are getting older, so I would be taking care of them once they needed it, so moving closer seemed like a great option. Also, it's a lower COL area than we live in now. Currently we live in the metro area of a capital city and we would be moving to a middle of nowhere po'dunk town.

And this is just the straw that broke the camel's back, this is not the only reason for my decision.
So, to the actual story...
Last week, I got a mother's day card in the mail from BM. She's a dollar tree card fanatic. It was a very typical card that she sends me. Nothing handwritten except for "love, grandma and grandpa." This is what she writes in all my cards. (Another tangent...last year my mom passed a month before mother's day and that actual mother's day was her and my dad's anniversary. And I had a super complicated relationship with my momster. So, it was an exceptionally hard day for me. The card she got me said "Daughter" in huge letters on the front. I thought it was so incredibly passive aggressive and completely inappropriate for that year. If it would've been any other year, it would've been fine. Also, she never gets me cards that just say "daughter" so, to me, it was a low blow.) (Yet another tangent...she does passive aggressive crap all the time, for instance when she used to do fb birthday posts, she would always ask me to send her a pic to post. I'm picky about what pics are used and she knows that. Last year, I sent her a great pic of me and her son to use. So, she used one from about 12 years ago that looked like absolute poop. It was a surprise pic, so like not even posed, stupid look on my face. No matter what pic I send, and usually send like 3, she uses a completely different one that doesn't even look good.) I got the card last Tuesday. Hubby happened to be talking to her while driving home from work that day, so when he got home, I thanked her for the card and just wanted to give her a heads up that I hadn't gotten a chance to mail hers yet because of everything I had going on. I kinda broke down and was sharing how I felt and she basically just said, "suck it up, it'll be fine." She's always been dismissive of my feelings, always.
So, my CM is the sweetest lady you'll ever meet. She listens to me, lets me share my feelings without being dismissive, and actually shows she cares. I see her twice weekly at church, and text with her during the week. Since BM has moved 8 moths ago, she has called or texted "just to talk or check in on us" less than a handful of times. She only calls/texts when she needs something or on a special occasion. She called my husband to ask about something, not just to talk. I understand now why the oldest grandson, my nephew, didn't even bother to invite her to his and his girlfriend's baby shower where he proposed. She thinks she's an amazing grandma bc she sends birthday money in a card and posts their pics on Facebook. And, she even stopped posting the kids birthday messages on fb bc she said it was "too much trouble." So, she just sticks to her 30 daily inspirational Bible quotes posts. She's the type that was so pissed off that both of her kids went with courthouse marriages instead of going into debt for a wedding because she didn't get to walk down the aisle at her kids' weddings and post pics on fb. She's mentioned this several times, but definitely wasn't even willing to spend a dime towards a wedding that no one wanted except her. She was also unwilling to take a day off work to go to the courthouse with us. With both of her kids' marriages, the kids and partners were together for a while and had kids before getting married, so spending tons of money on a huge wedding for either of us couples wouldn't have been the best way to spend money.
On mother's day, I gave my CM a card with a few lines written in it about how amazing she is and how I'm so grateful for her. I'm way closer to her than BM. CM is my chosen family and to me, your chosen family is the one that means more because you chose them, you didn't just get stuck with them. My blood family is incredibly toxic, so I stick with my chosen family. CM made a fb post with all that she got for mother's day. It was gifts and cards from her own children, and of course my card as well. CM & BM are fb friends, so of course BM saw it. Also, BM has everyone convinced she's this sweet, little old church lady, but she is far from it.
So, this Tuesday she got her cards in the mail. I always give her one from hubby and myself, and a separate one from our boys. I wrote a nice little note in it. Not long, a line or 2, but it was more effort than she put into my card. She sent me and hubby the following in a group text...
Copy and pasted, only edited out names.
"Got my cards in the mail today. 😭. They were post marked Saturday. You could of kept them til I got there or next year. It's like yall bought them Saturday, wrote a few words and rushed to get them to post office. My heart 💔broken. I thought I deserved better. I wish I could send pictures of my card verses [CM] 😩 card. I couldnt tell which gift was yours. But least I have a year to try do better and be worthy of such wonderful words of love and praise that was written to her.
I don't mean to complain or seem ungrateful but I wished you hadn't mailed them.😭😭. I can't explain how crushed I am.😔 Anyway hopefully I will see yall on the 20th."
Note: my oldest son is graduating on the 20th. She was supposed to drive down and spend the night with us to attend the graduation. I honestly believe she picked this fight because she doesn't want to drive the 6 hours down here.
If you "don't mean to complain or seem ungrateful" then why tf did you send it? I asked my husband what was his initial reaction and he said, "Really?!? All she had to do was say thanks."
So, after I talked to my husband and oldest son (I wanted to make sure everyone was on board with what I was saying before I sent it) , I sent her this response:
"I mailed them on Friday, I bought them several weeks ago. I told you I hadn't mailed them yet because I've been in a deep depression and you dismissed my feelings like always. I have real, valid feelings and you always dismissed them as silly. And come after me because now you're feelings are hurt. Wow, ok. The absolute audacity. And it's not just with your cards that I'm slacking. It's with everything. Because I have depression. I'm overwhelmed on top of that and literally the only thing you care about is a card. I tried to express my feelings the other day on the phone and you dismissed them like you always do. I know things will be fine, but in this moment they are not and you don't get that. Because you don't understand how or why I feel the way I do, then my feelings are silly or invalid to you.
And I never gave [CM] a present. Don't know why you thought that.
Don't worry about coming down on the 20th."
She replies by trying to blackmail me;
"Well my am so sorry I said anything. I never realized you thought that about me. I never dismissed your depression but yes i never knew what to do for you. I am not going to go back and forth about this. I will text [son] and let him know you told me not to come."
She's not sorry to me for being dismissive, she's sorry because now she doesn't get her "Proud MeMe moment" and can't post pictures of her at his graduation on fb. And even if she didn't "know what to do" for me, all she had to do was ask. Or listen. Or give a damn hug. But, no, she just dismissed me bc to her depression isn't real. And she's not going back and forth bc she knows shes wrong! Little did she know that I had already cleared it with hubby and son before sending the text, so I think she thought it would make me look bad to my oldest son that I told her no to come. Oldest son said, "I'm neutral, I don't care if she comes or not. It's not like she's had anything to do with us since she moved, and barely had anything to do with us when she was here."
So, my last text to her said, "He knows. I asked him before I texted you, and he's good with it."
All she had to do was say thanks or not even say anything at all. But, no, she had to say something stupid. Even her own son said that she's lucky she even got a card bc if it was up to him, her actual son, she wouldn't have gotten anything. So, not only is she not invited to the graduation, she's never welcome in my home again. The great part is I don't have to share my holidays with her ever again!!! And please know that I'd never keep her grandchildren from her, but if she wants a relationship with them, she'll have to put some effort in. And we all know boomers hate effort.

So i decided to make posts that i think might be helpfull for the spiritual development of others, that are on a bit more advanced ap techniques in my opinion, here is technique four
1 is visiting the past(medium)
2 is visiting other worlds/realities(medium)
3 how to explore yourself(easy/hard)
4 visithing the void and seeing creation from the outside (hard)
difficulty levels indicate danger level, easy means easy, no danger, or very small danger, new projector should be fine as long as they dont push the red button with skull on it, metaphorically speaking, medium means chance of spirit destruction, best for people who have grasped astral exploration and navigation and know how to defend themselfs, hard means it doesnt get more dangerous than that, best done by those who have not only grasped exploration but also participated in fights with high level spirits, know how to trust their gut and avoid making risky decitions, althou this is not a video game, simply put easy means a newby, medium normal gamer with a lot of practice time, hard means competitive gamer that knows the mechanics of the game
I will just say this now, i will make every post as stand alone since most people will need only one of them for their growth, and dont need to experience the previous one so they can understand the next one.
Also dont be afaid of spirit destruction, even if your spirit is destroyed as a result it will recover in two weeks at most, you will only feel tired during that process and have difficult times controlling your emotions.

So now this one actually wasnt done by me, it was done by newer occult practitioner by coincidence.
They didnt know what had happened, i actually invited them into this group, but i thought i would make a post about it, since i think it might be helpfull to some, and honestly the view is breath taking.
So here you can visit the void both from your regular dream and even if you are in the astral, to do so you need to use a gait i suggest you dont try to use teleportation in this one, draw the circle in front of you to enter the void you need to think one of the following "i want to go nowhere ", "i want to exit creation", "i want to go where nothing exists" or "i want to go in the emptiness". Refrain from setting intent as "i want to go to the void", the void is mostly abstract consept so it may take you in desolate place in the astral, not outside of it use one of the intents i wrote instead, of course if you have good comprehension of what the void means you can use it as well but i suggest you dont do it and take the easier route.
Now what is the void exactly, its nothing, well it was kinda obvious but its difficult to undestand, when i say nothing i dont mean regular nothing like empty room, there is still air inside, inside the astral there is always "something" even if we are not always aware of it, but the void, or complete emptyness has none of that, its literal nothing, where absolutely no creation exists for that reason it is also known as the cradale of creation, where everything was born and the beggining of existance, but what you do here is exit creation and enter outside of it.
Now usually astral projectors cant go to the void easy, they need to set contradictory intents for that to happen, or want to go nowhere in its purest form otherwise they wont be able to acces it(thats why i wrote hte specific intents needed to acces it), even quite a few advanced astral projectors never acces this part outside existance easily, the reason for that is simple, the void is the opposite of creation, and that means its the opposite of us, humans, and even spirits, when you try to enter it, you will either experience a wave of primal fear, a wave of disgust, a wave of wrongness etc, granted this will be the first and probably second time, and that is normal, put simply if creation/existance is fire, emptiness is like the foundation but also water, its like we are beings made of fire and we enter a lake, its normal to find it digusting from our point of view, now that is not always the case, as humans there are always few exceptions i once saw a post of a person who enjoyed being in there, he found the void of creation in a certain sense comforting, most others however didnt.
Now here is the reason why i called this experience on the "hard" scale, while there is no living beings from our point of view in the void, there is something, and that something is extremely dangerous, if there is something that can actual cause an irreversable physical damage to your body from the sirit it would be those things, i dont call them beings as they are not that, i have never met one but i trust the source of the information, it is also one of the reasons of the primal fear, now the good thing is, those things are stationary, simply put they cant move, they exist in similar state as of that of mountain, unmoving, as long as you dont roam around and move too far from creation you are safe, but there is no way for us to detect them untill its too late, those things are part of nothingness, even the more experienced astral projecter will feel nothing when they encounter them since thats the type they belong to, but once you get close to them, well you are done, most likely in every sense of the word, i myself have seen the void from afar several times but never dared to roam inside for too long, and i suggest you dont too.
now once you exit to enter the void you will almost always end up close to creation, just look around and you will be able to see the beggining of everything, granted it migth not make a lot of sense in the beggining, but if you think about it, it will start to make sense once your lvl of understanding grows.
If you dont see it when you enter the void dont wander the void return to the astral and just create a new portal and swap the intent to "go to nothing at the edge of creation", use this intent instead, if even that doesnt works then forgow the exprience for now and try again in the future when you think you have had personal growth.
also i wont ban people that have seen creation to say how it looks to others but i suggest to not do so and let them see it for themselfs, any comments may confuse them and cause them to even be incapable of approaching it as a result, there is nothing more detrimental to astro projections that wrong/false expectations, no expectations are better.

My husband is thinking about moving to Alaska for a year or two once he's no longer incarcerated. Like immediately after, like the day he's released kind of thing. He comes back soon next year. He's hoping to find a job there, save up some money, and then leave Alaska and eventually start his own trucking/moving business. He doesn't have experience in high-paying industries like oil extraction or commercial fishing, but he's worked in some construction temporarily and metalwork before. However, being a felon makes the job search more complicated.
I'm currently researching potential job opportunities in Alaska, but it's tough to find direct contacts in industries like oil, gas, and fishing which is what my husband wants me to look up. He wants to write them letters, like the mangers or bosses of these companies and I guess build a connection that way. While Alaska is known for its stunning scenery and unique experiences, that I’d love for him and I to experience, I'm uncertain about the feasibility of our plan and its financial implications, especially with conflicting information about the cost of living there. Every post I’ve read its been “the cost of living is high” OR “the cost of living isn't too bad, its low actually”.
He said that he’ll find a good job, save money, regardless of the cost of living, and then pursue his business dream. I love his idea of the business, and I told him that maybe we should just stick to our original plan of me saving up money and then once he's released, we move to a big city in our state. Or we just move to a different state like Arizona or something, but my husband is set on Alaska at the moment. I feel like I'm being negative when bring up certain things because I know he's genuine and very passionate about this. I definitely believe we could make a life there, but just not in this way. But also at that rate, why even go? It’s not like the plan is to live there forever. He wants to leave after awhile. What's in Alaska that he cant find or do anywhere else? Other than the beauty and life experience, why start out there? It just seems harder. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

I’ll try and make this short but I’m 22, living in NY, just graduated college last year and I’ve been working a full time job for the last few months. I live with my grandfather, who is older and disabled and his primary income is from the government. A few days ago I get a letter informing me that my SNAP and Medicaid coverage will be ending next year because I make too much money (less than $50k a year, but they also got the amount per check wrong in the letter).
I truly do not know what to do because we’re barely making it by as it is. We have family who lives in DR who we send money to every few days and there is nobody helping us.
My only thoughts are quitting my job, trying to find a lower paying one or moving out so my income doesn’t affect his benefits, none of which are viable options. Truly, any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

My husband is thinking about moving to Alaska for a year or two once he's no longer incarcerated. Like immediately after, like the day he's released kind of thing. He comes back soon next year. He's hoping to find a job there, save up some money, and then leave Alaska and eventually start his own trucking/moving business. He doesn't have experience in high-paying industries like oil extraction or commercial fishing, but he's worked in some construction temporarily and metalwork before. However, being a felon makes the job search more complicated.
I'm currently researching potential job opportunities in Alaska, but it's tough to find direct contacts in industries like oil, gas, and fishing which is what my husband wants me to look up. He wants to write them letters, like the mangers or bosses of these companies and I guess build a connection that way. While Alaska is known for its stunning scenery and unique experiences, that I’d love for him and I to experience, I'm uncertain about the feasibility of our plan and its financial implications, especially with conflicting information about the cost of living there. Every post I’ve read its been “the cost of living is high” OR “the cost of living isn't too bad, its low actually”.
He said that he’ll find a good job, save money, regardless of the cost of living, and then pursue his business dream. I love his idea of the business, and I told him that maybe we should just stick to our original plan of me saving up money and then once he's released, we move to a big city in our state. Or we just move to a different state like Arizona or something, but my husband is set on Alaska at the moment. I feel like I'm being negative when bring up certain things because I know he's genuine and very passionate about this. I definitely believe we could make a life there, but just not in this way. But also at that rate, why even go? It’s not like the plan is to live there forever. He wants to leave after awhile. What's in Alaska that he cant find or do anywhere else? Other than the beauty and life experience, why start out there? It just seems harder. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

This story has been gaining some small online traction over the past couple of days, and Russell Edwards has been namedropped again by Keith Bennett’s brother, Alan Bennett, on social media. I want people to be in no doubt about what Edwards did back in 2022, and I want to make sure that the following ranks near the top of Google searches too so that people can easily find information that discredits this complete and utter charlatan.

Who is Russell Edwards?

Edwards is a self-proclaimed “amateur detective”, who has for many years invested a lot of his own time and money in trying to get to the bottom of numerous infamous unsolved cases. He has claimed to have identified Jack the Ripper as a Polish barber named Aaron Kosminski, and wrote a book about his “findings” called “Naming Jack the Ripper” - which have since been called into question along with the credibility of both Edwards and the forensic scientist he collaborated with in regards to both Jack the Ripper and the Moors Murders, Jari Louhelainen.
Edwards also runs a Jack the Ripper guided walking tour in London. I won’t link to it because a) I don’t want to drive up clicks to it and b) the website contains a lot of misinformation as well as graphic autopsy images of Ripper victims without warning. I initially thought he had stopped doing these, but the most recent review listed on there was from January of this year.
He claimed to have started looking into Keith Bennett’s disappearance in 2015, but had been interested in the case since around the time the remains of another Moors Murders victim, Pauline Reade, were discovered in 1987.

The known facts of Keith Bennett’s disappearance and murder

Keith was walking to his grandmother’s house on the evening of 16th June 1964 when he was abducted by Ian Brady and Myra Hindley. According to their accounts, he was driven up to Saddleworth Moor and endured sexual assault before he was strangled to death and buried in a shallow grave. There is a detailed and extensive write-up on Brady’s and Hindley’s conflicting accounts linked here. Tragically, to this day Keith Bennett remains the only one of the couple’s victims whose remains were never recovered.
I would strongly encourage everybody to read these FAQs around the search for Keith too. I wrote these up a while ago, and Alan himself has been kind enough to contribute to them as well after the fact.

The 2022 “findings”

First off, here’s where exactly Edwards made his “discovery” in relation to where the other bodies were found. I should state that this area consists of plenty of gullies and peat soil. If you click on the 2022 Search on Saddleworth Moor flair, you‘ll see everything we discussed in this subreddit as the search was being carried out. But I will recap what happened anyway.
In a statement published on 30th September 2022, GMP Force Review Officer Martin Bottomley said:
“At around 11.25am on Thursday 29th September 2022, Greater Manchester Police was contacted by the representative of an author who has been researching the murder of Keith Bennett, a victim of Ian Brady and Myra Hindley. Following direct contact with the author, we were informed that he had discovered what he believes are potential human remains in a remote location on the Moors and he agreed to meet with officers yesterday afternoon to elaborate on his find and direct us to a site of interest.
“The site was assessed late last night and, this morning, specialist officers have begun initial exploration activity. We are in the very early stages of assessing the information which has been brought to our attention but have made the decision to act on it in line with a normal response to a report of this kind.”
It was first reported in the Daily Mail that a “skull” had been found, although the same article then went on to say that “detectives are preparing to exhume a particular area where suspected skeletal remains have been found including what experts believe to be a child’s upper jaw with a full set of teeth”. It was also reported that a small piece of blue and white striped material, and potential samples of body tissue (although this was later discredited as a probable mixture of vegetation and muddy water), had been found.
Edwards had claimed he and his team had conducted extensive soil analysis of the area, which they had discovered 4 weeks before. There were high levels of calcium, which can indicate the presence of human remains (but the team did not mention that it also indicates the presence of limestone or another high calcium natural material). Describing the dig, he said “the smell hit me about 2ft down. Like a sewer, like ammonia. I worked as a gravedigger when I was 19. It hits you, that smell of death. It is distinctive.”
Alan Bennett later stated that the smell was probably methane - of which there are pockets containing it across the moor. Edwards also falsely stated that everything was left in situ - more on that in the paragraph after the next one.
On Saturday 1st October, Greater Manchester Police issued a statement saying that “no identifiable human remains have been found” - despite what several tabloid and local newspapers had been reporting. It was confirmed that drones were being used in the search on the 2nd October, and a statement issued by GMP later that day confirmed that excavation of the site will continue for the foreseeable future.
Edwards and members of his team started posting on Facebook and declaring that Keith Bennett had already been found. On 2nd October, Jari Louhelainen, a Senior Lecturer in Molecular Biology at Liverpool John Moores University and a member of Edwards’ team, posted a photo of himself analysing what he suspected was a “bunch of hair” from the dig site. He later confirmed in the comments of his post (after being called out for posting it in the first place) that it was a “look-a-like plant material”.
On 4th October, Detective Chief Inspector Cheryl Hughes, of GMP’s Force Review Unit, said: “Forensic Archaeologists and Forensic Anthropologists have now completed a methodical archaeological excavation and examination of the area previously dug and refilled by the member of the public. No bones, fabric or items of interest were recovered from the soil.
“These accredited and certified forensic experts are now continuing with a methodical and controlled excavation of the area immediately surrounding the original site to provide a higher level of assurance of the presence or absence of any items of interest. Further soil samples have been taken for analysis, but at this time there is no visible evidence to suggest the presence of human remains. The scene examination is ongoing.
“A report of possible human remains is always treated with seriousness. As such, we have deployed police search advisors who can support our scenes of crimes officers – this will result in more visible and high profile tactics, such as officers walking in lines to identify any potential sites of focus.
“GMP is committed to providing Keith’s family with answers following this report, both from the physical excavation and subsequent analysis of samples. This will take some time but we will keep the family updated at every stage and request that their privacy is respected.
“We have seen the outpouring of support since this news broke so know how our communities feel about this case but we are asking members of the public not to travel to the area and can assure them that we will provide timely and appropriate updates.”
At 2pm on 7th October 2022, Greater Manchester Police announced that they had closed the scene on Saddleworth Moor after finding no evidence to indicate the presence of human remains. “At this time, there is no evidence of the presence of human remains.”
Assistant Chief Constable Sarah Jackson, portfolio holder for crime, said: “We have always said that we would respond, in a timely and appropriate manner, to any credible information which may lead us towards finding Keith. Our actions in the last week or so are a highly visible example of what that response looks like, with the force utilising the knowledge and skills of accredited experts, specialist officers and staff. It is these accredited experts and specialists who have brought us to a position from where we can say that, despite a thorough search of the scene and ongoing analysis of samples taken both by ourselves and a third party, there is currently no evidence of the presence of human remains at, or surrounding, the identified site on Saddleworth Moor. However, I want to make it clear that our investigation to find answers for Keith’s family is not over.
“We understand how our communities in Greater Manchester feel about this case, the renewed interest in it and the shared desire to find Keith. Much of Saddleworth Moor is private land so we would ask that members of the public, in the first instance, report any perceived intelligence to their local police service. The discovery of suspected human remains must be reported immediately to enable the use of specialist resources to investigate appropriately.”
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Cheryl Hughes said: “The investigation into Keith’s disappearance and murder has remained open since 1964 and it will not be closed until we have found the answers his family have deserved for so many years. We are thankful for their continued support of our ongoing enquiries. This has been a distressing time for them and we ask that their privacy is respected.
“We understand the confusion which may have been caused to Keith’s family and communities across Greater Manchester by reports to the contrary. We hope that by giving this detailed update today, we provide reassurance that GMP are committed to finding accurate answers for Keith’s family.
“In response to the report made on Thursday 29 September 2022, officers met with the member of the public who later provided us with samples and copies of the photographs he had taken. He also took officers to the location from which he had obtained these and provided grid references.
“In the days since, independent accredited forensic archaeologists and certified forensic anthropologists, together with GMP’s Crime Scene Investigators, have completed a methodical forensic archaeological excavation and examination of the identified area and beyond. An accredited forensic geologist also took a number of soil samples – analysis of which is ongoing.
“The items given to us by the member of the public have been examined by a forensic scientist and though this hasn’t yet indicated the presence of human remains – more analysis is required. With regards to the photograph, we have sought the assistance of a forensic botanist. We are now utilising the knowledge and skills of a forensic image expert to put a standard anthropological measurement to the object to assist with identification. At this stage, the indications are that it would be considerably smaller than a juvenile jaw and it cannot be ruled out that it is plant-based.
“The excavation and examination at the site is complete and, to reiterate, we have found no evidence that this is the burial location of Keith Bennett.”

Aftermath

It was discovered that two of Edwards’ team members, Lesley Dunlop (a geologist) and Dawn Keen (a forensic archaeologist) were not accredited professionals in their respective fields. Alan Bennett clarified in a Facebook post on 5th November 2022, in reference to Keen:
“Any professional archaeologist would ask for a scale in any pictures or video taken at a scene [in reference to the fact that police confirmed the object found was too small to be a juvenile jaw], that was not the case here and the reason police had to call in a photographic specialist to determine the scale of the supposed jawbone..which turns out to be too small for a child from what I've been told so far and, of course couldn't be found anyway and could only have been vegetation if anything at all.”
I am not entirely sure what the “blue and white striped fabric” turned out to be - I assume that nothing was found.
Alan has since posted evidence that Russell Edwards had been planning the “discovery of Keith’s remains” as part of a stunt to promote his upcoming book on the case - a book that Edwards has been radio-silent about since all of this controversy.
Edwards has refused to apologise to Keith’s family and despite being proven wrong, and him and his team being called out for the charlatans they are (with even him admitting that his own reputation is in tatters), as of December 2022 he stood by his actions and his claims that he believed he had found Keith’s body.
To my own understanding (though I do not speak on behalf of Alan Bennett or on behalf of anybody who was involved in this whole debacle, let me be clear), there has been complete radio-silence on news of Edwards’ book since this date.

Apologies if this seems sporadic but usually I just come to reddit for advice/crises and this is a big one. This afternoon I got a text from a random number that I didn’t recognize. The text just had my name and a link, nothing else. I didn’t receive any emails prior to this, which I think is important to note.
The link required me to input my college ID number, which I did, and it was a pdf. In the lettepdf it says that due to poor academic performance this semester I have been academically withdrawn from my college. It also noted that I can appeal this, as well as reapply (if I don’t appeal) after a semester.
for context, i knew my grades were going to be pretty bad this semester. i had a health crisis early on that wound up in me almost being sent to the hospital but my friend made a care report to the dean’s office. Ever since february, I have been meeting with them weekly. I was missing a lot of work from early in the semester, which I was able to make up, but I still performed poorly on exams which was why I still failed most of my classes. My case manager as well as the dean for academic engagement advised me to get a letter from my psychiatrist to say I was getting treatment and to allow me to have accommodations next semester. They said if I get this letter I would more than likely be able to retroactively medically withdrawal, in which case all the grades from this semester would be wiped.
So definitely my next step would be to get that letter ASAP, but what else can I do? I am taking summer classes to fulfill the requirements from the classes I failed this semester as well as to help me be on track to graduate on time (I’m an incoming senior), so I’m just trying to totally unfuck myself out of the situation I got myself into. My parents tore into me (rightfully so), and my whole support system of friends and family are disappointed in me (also rightfully so). I have been crying for hours just because I’ve let everyone down, and I know it is up to me to make them proud of me again. But also, the biggest reason how I got in this mess was focusing on everyone except myself- focusing on my friends and hanging out with them instead of doing my work which will allow me to graduate alongside them… I know it was a terrible decision. A lot of it was my mental state (I only got diagnosed/medicated for OCD after the crisis happened, and the first medication I was on made it worse), but just as much as it is that it is also just as much my fault. I really need to spend this summer working hard for MYSELF and no one else.
I was wondering if anyone had some words of advice for this situation. I can also answer any questions. I was never on academic probation or anything of the sort before this, it has only happened this semester. I am a computer science major if that provides any information. I really don’t want to be kicked out for one fucked up semester. I want to prove to myself and everyone else that I CAN do this, and I know every step of the way from here on out will be hard as hell. What else can I do to dig myself out of this hole?

3 ) Would anyone be interested in a guide / separate stand alone website for poker in the UK? A lot of the online poker forums / sites are very America centric which makes it difficult to find info about poker in the UK. The UK sites / forums are generally run either by a casino or by someone spamming their app club which does not necessarily lead to objective information. Hi everyone. My family and I are in a bit of a tricky situation.
Our background : My parents are divorced. In 2012, my dad lodged a remaining relative visa (subclass 115) application offshore as his last remaining relatives, his mum and only sibling are Aus citizens (his dad, my grandpa passed away a long time ago). My sister and I were included in the application as his dependents. Fast forward, after 12 years of waiting in the queue, the immigration department finally started processing the application in Jan this year. We were asked to resubmit all the documentations again. However, I am now already 25 years old, working full time and currently on partner visa 820 here in Australia. Because of this, our migration agent advised me to withdraw from this remaining relative application. So my dad and my sister submitted this application without me.
Today, the immigration department just got back to us. Here is their response: “It is a requirement for the grant of a Remaining Relative (Subclass 115) visa that all ‘near relatives’ of the applicant or their spouse or de facto partner (if any) are Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or eligible New Zealand citizens at the time of the application being lodged and when a decision is made on the application. Departmental systems show that the following person, [MY NAME] is not an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen. Therefore, you may not meet the criteria for the grant of a Remaining Relative visa. Your comments on this matter are invited.” So because I don’t hold aus PR yet, they might reject us.
They have asked my family to submit a letter. The thing is I am almost ready to apply for my permanent resident visa 801 on the 2nd of June this year so it’s literally only weeks away from now. Will the immigration department reconsider and let my family delay their application until I’m granted PR (which probably will happen less than a year from now)? If so, what should my family write in the letter? They gave us 28 days to send a response letter back.
Please give me some advice. I’m legit so stressed right now😭I really want my family to stay with me in australia. TIA

Sigh. I had kinda hoped I was over it by now but I had an interaction with my father a while ago that was about as much fun as hopscotch in a bear trap factory. I don't live with my parents anymore, I actually live rather far away now, but every so often I make a trip back down to my hometown and at the end of those trips, I will go to my parent's house and pick up some more things they have been storing for me. This last time. I was wanting to get something specific and I texted my parents something like, "Yo, I'm havinga bit of trouble finding a things. Do either of you know where it might be hiding?" Well, my dad saw this text and decided it was time to have a talk about it. While I was looking through some stuff, he ended up startling me and made a very big deal about saying 'yo.' Apparently, 'yo,' is too. . . Well, I couldn't really tell you, I guess it was not respectful enough, not formal enough and maybe even too casual. It was baffling, I will admit I do not have a good relationship to my dad, but. . . Well. I didn't think informality would be an issue. To think he would get bend out of shape because of two letters is embarrassing. Though I've decided that next time he has an issue with me being too casual, I will simply say, "I'm sorry. I thought we were friends."

Is there anything I can/should do about this legally? I received a letter in the mail informing me that my personal information including my social security number as a former employee at Panda Express was leaked in a data breach of their corporate systems. “The types of information involved include your first and last name, in combination with your SSN, Date Of Birth, and Drivers License.”.
It goes on to give suggestions to keep an eye on our credit and offers a 12 month complimentary membership to some mediocre identity defense website. I’m wondering if there is anything I should do as far as there being a class action lawsuit in progress from one woman that got this same letter, I’m not sure how it all works so would I join in on her lawsuit or do I have to wait to see how the lawsuit turns out? I’m pretty sure most employees/former employees got this letter by the way, it’s a lot of leaked information.
