Despite mentioning several noodles, Japan is known for manufacturing its pasta in restaurants. Thus the flavor and type vary by location and restaurant, providing unique and inexplicable varieties.
Furthermore, if you love good meals, read on as we talk about some of the different types of Japanese noodles.

1. Ramen

Ramen is a clear noodle soup with various ingredients and flavors. Restaurants typically produce their pasta for the meal, similar to ramen noodles (only in appearance).
There are hundreds of distinct types of ramen, and some chefs spend their entire careers perfecting their original recipe; some ramen, also called lamen, can take up to 12 hours to prepare.
You can find thousands of ramen restaurants throughout Japan. We have diverse preparations such as tsukemen and tantanmen in addition to the traditional shoyu lamen, shio lamen, and misso lamen.
Furthermore, Some chefs take it further and make ramen with black stock, on fire, or packed with meat; the sky's the limit!

2. Soba- Buckwheat Noodles

Under the is a typical Japanese buckwheat noodle that you can eat cold or heated. They are widely available throughout Japan, and they are a popular dish that replaces the traditional rice and meat lunch.
There are various sorts of Soba, ranging from the most consistent industrialized to the most delicate artisanal Soba prepared from pure buckwheat. Also, the pasta frequently blends with the dish's sauce, resulting in a delicious flavor.
Furthermore, Soba's crunchy texture, the noodle, and sauce mingle and meet on the tongue, and its aroma is all features.
Kakesoba, tenpurasoba, zarusoba (cold noodles), sansaisoba, and many more are among the most traditional. This is one of the different types of Japanese noodles.

3. Okinawa Soba

Okinawa Soba, which originated in Okinawa Prefecture, is another type of Soba. On Okinawa, it's simply known as "Soba." The origins of this Soba variant remain a mystery.
However, you most likely made it before 1902. It was initially known as "Chinese Soba" (Shina Soba).
Okinawa Soba uses flat noodles that are nearly as thick as Udon. People make them with flour instead of buckwheat, for example. The accompanying soup is similar to Ramen noodle soup.
Pork, Konbu (seaweed), and Katsuobushi flakes make up the broth for this Soba. Scallion, stewed San-Mai Niku (pork belly), Kamaboko (fish cake), or Soki are popular toppings (boneless pork ribs).

4. Udon- Macaroni Grosso

Udon is a wheat flour-based thick pasta. This noodle is thicker and whiter than risotto, and it comes with dashi, mirin, and shoyu broth. The same meals are usually served with Udon noodles in a Soba restaurant.
Just as there is soba, there are zaru udon, kake udon, kamaage udon, chikara udon, kare udon, kitsune udon, and many others. Udon has a milder flavor influenced by the sauce and the ingredients used to prepare it.
However, Udon noodles are dazzling white, spherical, and thick, whereas soba noodles are brown, silky, and thin. Also, the flavor and density of udon noodles vary depending on where you eat them in Japan.

5. Somen- Cold Noodles

When you look at the name of this noodle, you can probably predict how it's served. It was always a hit with the crowd, whether it was served chilled or frigid. It's a fantastic summer dish.
Some folks, however, serve it heated in the winter to stay warm. "Nyumen" is the heated form of Soba. This is one of the different types of Japanese noodles.
Wheat flour is used to make something. It's light and airy. The strands are first boiled and then cooled in ice. They then dip them in a traditional sauce known as "Tsuyu." Myoga, onion, Katsuobushi, and ginger are all present in this sauce.
Furthermore, Nagashi-Somen is a well-known variation of Somen. It's a summertime delicacy found in select Japanese restaurants. Also, the strands are placed on bamboo fumes, which are very cold water.

6. Harusame- Transparent Noodles

Harussame, often known as glass noodles, is a type of transparent starch and water noodle. They're customarily sold dry and utilized in soups, fried foods, and spring rolls.
Bean sprout starch, potato starch, sweet potato starch, tapioca starch, and canna starch are common ingredients in harusame. In the case of the Japanese variant, potato starch is generally used.
Salads with translucent pasta are popular, as are hot pan dishes with translucent pasta. They're also frequently utilized to prepare Japanese versions of Chinese and Korean cuisines. Shirataki is another similar option.

7. Hiyamugi- Cold Wheat Noodles

Hiyamugi is another cold Japanese noodle. It is similarly made of wheat and has a diameter of 1.3 to 1.7 millimeters, making it thicker than Somen but not as thick as Udon. Hiyamugi is usually a basic white tint. However, it can also come in shades of green or pink.
Hiyamugi, like Somen, is a light and pleasant summer noodle. It's usually served with ice or in a glass bowl of water. "Tsukejiru," the accompanying sauce, is made of Mirin, dashi, and soy sauce.

8. Shirataki- Pasta Without Calories

Due to its low-calorie content, Shirataki, also known as Konnyaku, has acquired favor outside of Japan as a weight-loss food.
Konjac yam makes thin, translucent pasta high in nutritional fiber, low in carbohydrates, and soft in calories. Also, this is one of the different types of Japanese noodles.
Furthermore, Sukiyaki, nikujaga, and other cooked foods frequently include noodles. Pasta can also be drained, dried, and roasted to minimize bitterness and give it a consistency commonly used in soups and sauces.

9. Wafu Pasta

Wafu Pasta is a Japanese pasta that is similar to Italian pasta. Although it's called "pasta," it's essentially a noodle. Between noodles and pasta, there are some distinctions.
Wafu pasta is made from durum wheat or other types of flour and cereals or grains. The flour is mixed with water or an egg and shaped into stands. It all started in a Tokyo restaurant called Kabenoana in 1953.
Wafu pasta is stirred with sweetened rice wine, Dashi broth, soy sauce, butter, and mushrooms such as Shimeiji and Shiitake after it has been cooked. So, if you want to create it at home, feel free to use anything you have on hand.

10. Yasikoba- Fried Noodles

Yakisoba is a beautiful noodle dish that is stir-fried—pork and vegetables such as onions, carrots, cabbage, salt, pepper, and Yakisoba sauce. Beni Shoga, Aonori, mayonnaise, and Katsuobushi can all be used as toppings.
Yakisoba is made by sauteing a form of Chinese noodles known as "Chuukamen," pork, vegetables, and a special sauce. The noodles are made of wheat flour rather than buckwheat, despite the name.
Furthermore, You can find yakisoba throughout Japan at food stalls, fairs, and festivals (matsuri). It's also known as "Yakisoba Pan" and may be found in convenience stores. Also, the vendors frequently serve stir-fried noodles in bread or hot dog buns.

11. Tokoroten- Seaweed Noodles

Tokoroten is an agarophytic algae-based pasta that the Japanese have consumed for over a thousand years. Also, Tokoroten was frequently consumed in the Edo region after being introduced to Japan by China during the Nara period.
Furthermore, Traditionally, the pasta was created by boiling tengusa and served immediately. You can identify the appearance of kanten, jelly, or agar-agar through freezing. Tokoroten noodles were made as a result of their strong resistance.
Moreover, Tokoroten can be served either warm or cold. It's finest served as spaghetti with a blend of vinegar and soy sauce and nori, pepper, and sesame seeds.
Tokoroten is done as a dessert with kuromitsu in the Kansai region. Without a doubt, this is one of the different types of Japanese noodles.

12. Instant Noodles

Instant noodle is a common ingredient in Japanese cuisine. Also, Instant noodles appear to be available in every country.
Momofuku Ando, the founder of Nissin, was the first to invent this noodle in Japan. They come in a variety of tastes and varieties.
There are two types of instant noodles based on price. Some of them are inexpensive, costing between 100 and 200 Yen. Instant noodles will be more expensive if they have additional toppings. Their costs vary between 200 and 350 Yen.
Furthermore, the flavor of instant noodles is excellent. Everyone loves them since they simply take a few minutes to prepare.
They do, however, contain a significant amount of sodium, fat, and other unhealthy ingredients. Also, this is one of the different types of Japanese noodles that are not highly recommended for consumption.

13. Chanpon- Pasta Cooked in Soup

Chanpon is a noodle dish from Nagasaki. In Japan, Korea, and China, there are several variants. Chinese cuisine was the source of inspiration for this meal. Pork, shellfish, and vegetables are fried in fat and served in a bone broth.
Furthermore, the chanpon is served with noodle soup. Because the pasta is cooked with the soup, only one pan is required, unlike other ramen recipes. The components and the flavor vary depending on the season, place, and situation.

14. Shirataki- Konjac Yam Noodles

It's fantastic to be able to eat noodles without worrying about gaining weight! If you enjoy that type of experience, I recommend Shirataki. "Ito-Konnyaku" is another name for it.
Because the konjac yam is very low in calories and carbs, it also contains a high amount of fiber.
Furthermore, Shirataki is available in both dry and moist forms. In a liquid, wet Shirataki simmer. If you acquire this variant, deodorize the noodle by washing them before cooking. You can keep it for up to a year.
Sukiyaki (hot pot), Nikujyaga (meat and potato stew), and other dishes are made using this noodle in Japan. After draining and drying the noodle, they also roast them. Noodles lose their bitterness when they are roasted. They then serve it with sauce or soup.

15. Sanuki Udon

Sanuki Udon is a Kagawa Prefecture Udon variation. It was given that name because Kagawa's previous name was "Sanuki."
Sanuki Udon is distinguished by its noodle strands. They're square and have a chewy texture. Dried infant sardines make up the broth.
In addition, this is one of the different types of Japanese noodles that we use two methods to serve. Also, they can directly pour the broth into the boiling strands and eat it like regular noodle soup. Alternatively, they can dip the strands in a broth-based dipping sauce.

16. Toshikoshi Soba- New year's Eve Noodles

Every Japanese person eats Toshikoshi Soba on New Year's Eve. It is a symbol of endurance and strength. This is a classic Soba noodle. It is made with the essential ingredients of Soba noodles.
Eating soba on New Year's Eve dates back to the Edo Period. People eat it to wish for a happy, tranquil existence.
Because the noodles are easy to break apart, they give people the impression that they have overcome adversity during the year.
Also, Dashi broth is used in the soup. Only chopped scallions are used as a garnish. You can also add raw eggs, Tempura, and Kamaboko fish cakes to make them tastier.

I’m not a strict kcal counter, sorry! I just try and keep it low with small swaps. Spinach tortillas turned out way better than I expected they don’t even taste like spinach at all and stupid easy and quick.
Tortillas: for a batch of 4-8 depending on how thick you make em
1 cup (120g) flour (recipe called for chicke pea I used .5C vital wheat gluten + .5C fiber gourmet)
.5C tapioca/corn starch/arrow root powder (I used tapioca)
60-70g spinach 1.25C h20
1T butter powder(recipe didn’t call for it but I’m obsessed with butter powder rn it’s awesome)
Around 1.5-3g salt depending on type and your taste I used 3g pink Himalayan
Chuck all that in a blender and mix til smooth should only take a min or two.
Let batter rest for a bit, 20-30m or whatever, helps to avoid sticking.
Pour batter into heated non stick skillet on medium heat slowly whirling around while you do it to get big circular torts. Cook for a couple mins on each side.
Been experimenting with these torts the last few days they work awesome for everything, basic wraps to “pizza” to… well that’s pretty much all I do with them actually 😙. Really glad I found the recipe and wanted to share. Hope yall enjoy

2024.06.06 20:06 guesswhololz Dessert: Strawberry Sago

Dessert: Strawberry Sago
I just recently made this and my sister and friends love it! It’s very easy to make and doesn’t require a lot of prep time.
It’s a very refreshing desert that kids and parents would love and you can find many variations of this recipe online.
What I really like is that you can put it in a cup and drink it instead.
The ingredients:
  • 12 large strawberries
  • 2 cups strawberry milk
  • 3/4 cup condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 200g sago (tapioca)
  • 1 cup strawberry jelly
  • 1 cup popping jelly
Instructions:
  1. Boil the tapioca in 4 cups of water until fully translucent (approx 15 minutes). Make sure you gently stir continuously so that they don’t stick together.
  2. Drain the water and put tapioca under cold running water for about 2-5 minutes.
  3. Slice the strawberries into bite-size pieces and add the tapioca with all of the other ingredients into a bowl and mix.
  4. Put in the fridge for 2 hours before serving.
Note: when boiling the tapioca, the water may become sticky because tapioca releases starch. So, you may have to drain the starchy water out and boil a fresh new pot of water if you feel that it’s becoming quite sticky and clumped together (see videos online on how to cook tapioca).
You can also add small ice cubes as well or you can substitute the strawberries for any fruit of your choice like mango and the sub the strawberry milk for mango milk. I added 2 different types of strawberry jelly to mine along with strawberry popping boba jelly. I’ve also seen people make a custard version of this dessert by making the pudding thicker. The options are limitless, so you can add whatever you like!

2024.06.06 10:18 KatAnansi Quick and easy melty cheese recipe - great for pizza, toasties, lasagne, pasta sauce

I discovered this recipe a few weeks ago, and I'm still exploring all the options, but this is so quick and easy - and it's delicious. It browns and bubbles under a grill beautifully. These are things I've used it for so far: toasted 'cheese' and tomato sandwich, open grilled toastie, on a baked potato with mushrooms and spring onions and put back in air fryer to brown, through pasta with cooked onions, mushrooms and black pepper. I've yet to try pizza and lasagna, but pretty sure it'll work well for both.
Recipe:
Blend 50g tofu or plant milk, 2 teaspoons white vinegar, 1 teaspoon agave/rice syrup, 3 tablespoons nutritional yeast, 5 tablespoons tapioca starch, 1 teaspoon salt (I use half), 90ml oil (any of the bland ones work), 300ml water. Pour into a saucepan and heat on medium heat, stirring constantly with a whisk or wooden spoon until it thickens. (It thickens really quickly once it hits the right temp, so don't leave it - takes 3-5 min.)

2024.06.04 19:14 miinyuu Need a GF flour mix... with a lot of restrictions

I recently moved abroad and am stumped how to bake gluten free here! I used to love Bob's Red Mill back in the US, it worked for me for everything, but it isn't sold in Spain, and importing it is way too expensive to bother. Hence, I'm trying to find/make a substitute All Purpose GF flour blend. I would love to just buy a brand here but my husband is allergic to corn and every single mix I've found in Spain uses corn!!
My other issue is that I can't seem to find brown rice flour here, just 'rice flour' or white rice flour, and almost every GF mix recipe I find online uses a blend of white/brown rice... so I'm not sure what to do with that exactly. I also can't have quinoa (insensitivity).
I made a mix recently on the fly with buckwheat, 'rice' flour (not sure if brown or white, maybe a mix??), tapioca starch, and xanthan gum... It tastes a little strange and my recipes keep coming out way more watery and thin than expected.
I feel like I'm going crazy here, this is suddenly so difficult!! Does anyone have any flour blend recipes that might work for me??? Thank you!!

2024.06.04 11:25 wptny03 Big Chad Guys Plus - World Corrupted?

Hey everyone. I've recently been playing Big Chad Guys Plus with my brothers and some friends. Today my brother tried to sleep in the nether like an idiot, using the Traveler's Backpack's sleeping bag function. Upon doing this, the world completely crashed, and I can't open it any longer. I was hosting with the e4mc mod. I had no backups, and I'm worried the world is corrupted. Any help would be greatly appreciated, crash report is below. Exit Code is just "-1"

2024.06.03 04:58 Different_Regular_40 TJ ube ice cream doesn’t taste like ube anymore and sucks

I’m guessing TJ changed the recipe because I loooved the ube ice cream (big ube fan) but I just bought some for the first time this year and it tastes like the milk after eating honey nut cheerios, except with soy milk. Don’t feel any ube flavor at all. I hope they consider changing it back😫

2024.06.03 02:48 discoglittering FAQ: Ice Cream Recipe Science

This is a repost of my original post on ninjacreami.
I’m hoping this post can clear up some confusion that some people have regarding recipes.
1) The role of protein: having a high protein milk as your base provides a smoother texture because the milk has less overall water, and will therefore make fewer ice crystals. Adding protein in the form of protein powder, nonfat dry milk, cream cheese, ricotta, or cottage cheese will displace or bind up water also, providing a smoother texture with fewer ice crystals.
2) The role of actual sugar: sugar both adds flavor and depresses the freezing point of the mixture, which is critical in churned mixes due to the slower nature of churning and freezing; sugar allows for smaller ice crystals because it delays the mix from freezing all at once. We can mostly get around this in the low- or no-sugar creami mixes with temperature management (thawing). Many companies use a mix of sucrose and glucose for texture reasons in full sugar recipes.
3) Other sweeteners: non-caloric sweeteners that many of us use mostly provide flavor. They are critical because frozen desserts don’t transmit as much flavor to our senses while we eat. A lack of sweeteners makes a bland ice cream. Allulose can depress freezing point supposedly, but I haven’t noticed a difference.
4) Gums, starches, and other thickeners: these bind/absorb more water in the mix, preventing large ice crystals from forming. When I used to do cooked recipes, they had a somewhat loose pudding consistency after being chilled. I personally use guar gum now to avoid cooking; most starches need to have the mixture brought to a boil to thicken. Tapioca starch is supposed to be one of the best for frozen treats, if you want to go the cooking route.
5) Pudding mix: pudding mix contains a mild amount of thickener (which usually only works effectively with dairy milk at the correct ratios), flavoring, and sweetener. This can help provide a nice base.
6) Alcohol: alcohol can also help depress the freezing point of the mix. Too much could lead to a soupy result.
7) Fruit: The fiber in blended fruit will displace some water, helping to lead to a less icy result. A sorbet ideally should have some sugar in it; otherwise, it will maybe be too much like a block of ice for the machine. Binding water with thickeners and partially thawing can also help. Blend the fruit because the creami is not a blender.
8) Fat: fat provides flavor and mouthfeel. Fat can also carry additional flavor very well, like mint steeped in cream. You can have too much fat in a mix; fat can freeze quite hard and leave a filmy sensation in your mouth if you have too much. Heavy cream is the usual source of fat but coconut milk is also good.
9) Emulsifiers: if you’re finding that your mix isn’t homogenous and you have fat/water separation, an emulsifier like soy lecithin could help.
10) Water: You need SOME water, or you won’t get enough ice crystals. You do want them, just small and uniform ones instead of big chunky ones. So the mix should not have all the water bound/absorbed by thickeners.
11) Scooping: many ice cream shops freeze their scoopable ice cream cases warmer than they deep freeze products they want to store longer. So maintaining scoopability may require some thawing.
12) Egg info: egg yolk qualifies as an emulsifier and a thickener if cooked into a proper custard (or I guess you could try a cold mayo technique with a milk base, lmk how that goes) and also adds richness from fat. Since the fat in egg has a different composition than milkfat, it adds a nice roundness to the mouthfeel while pushing the fat content a little higher.

2024.05.31 21:13 D_dude3 A starter guide to reading cat food ingredients

A starter guide to reading cat food ingredients
It has come to my attention that allot of people don’t know what they give to their cat. Please never give a cat both wet and dry food at the same time. They are both complete meals and if you give both you give them to much to eat. Now your cat might be hungry and crying for food after just getting food 5 minutes ago why is that? Simply put it has to do with the ingredients. Cats are carnivores and require lots of protein. Protein is used by the brain to process day to day activities just like in humans. When a cat has a lot of protein in its meal it tends to be less hungry as the brain has the idea it is full. Sadly protein is expensive so manufacturers use fillers like starch to trick the stomach into thinking its full. But because the brain doesn’t get its minimum of protein it sends a signal to go eat. So the cat begs for more food. If the brain doesn’t get the protein from the food the cat eats than it will take the protein from the muscles resulting in a lazy and fat cat.
There is a simple solution to this problem. Reading the ingredients from cat foods. Included are some ingredient list i found on google for cat foods. I dont know these brands and this is not to say look this brand is good or this brand is bad. The purpose is to show you good people of cats what you should look for. Ingredient list do not always specify how much % of which ingredient is in the cat food but there is a trick. It is always in an order from most to least amount of the ingredients in the food. So the first ingredient is always the most abundant ingredient in the food.
We wanna look for protein in the first few ingredients so out cat’s brain is satisfied with his protein intake and doesn’t give the i am hungry signal. Second we want to see as few starch or grain products as possible. And added salt we dont want to see or at the very end. To much salt is bad for the kidneys and will make the cat drink quite allot.
The last picture is unclear i know and it is in dutch. It is a super market own brand which i feed to my cat. Showing good food doesn’t need to be expensive.
You might think why does this stranger on the internet think he is. I am a Dutch professionally trained animal caretaker animal and behavior companion animals. I went to school to learn all about pets. From groming to diet.
I hope you found this helpful and if you have any questions ask them down below.

No one knows what these white pieces are
They’re hard but can crumble. They’re tasteless but obviously are questionable in safety. After doing some ingredient hunting, I think it’s probably just solidified sodium alginate that wasn’t fully mixed with the calcium lactate, but I was looking into popping boba recipes and one says freezing the alginate pearls and letting them melt in the lactate helps them hold a better shape and that sodium alginate is always gelatinous. I also looked at pictures of people messing up their popping bubbles and none of them show pictures of this type of problem. as much as we all hope It’s just a bad batch of delicious Boba, like most of the world these days it’s probably careless manufactures. This crumbly white issue is usually associated with tapioca boba because of the tapioca starch, which popping boba doesn’t have. It kind of reminds me of pomegranate skin. Anyways what are your thoughts?

AIP chewy sweets
I made tapioca pearls yesterday for a matcha latte and then today I had some leftover and I put some cherry compote over them and it really soothed my sweets craving!
My tapioca pearls were made with water, starch and coconut sugar. My latte was matcha honey water and a coconut milk I made from a block of pure coconut. If anyone wants the recipes I’ll comment it with the yt video link !

2024.05.30 20:25 Vnokewckv Inquiry about Vitamins!

Hello everyone!
Though I am not traditionally vegan, I thought this community would be the best to answer my questions!
Recently I was diagnosed with AGS (AlphaGal Syndrome) and I have a few pending diagnoses that we are waiting on blood test panels to update. During all of these tests, I discovered a Vitamin D deficiency among others! Of course, with AGS and some more specific allergies that I have, I can't use a generic Vitamin D supplement and my doctors have told me to find a Vegan supplement instead.
What would be a recommendation that does not have any mammal byproducts, carrageenan, OR Tapioca Starch? I live in a small rural community on a tribal reservation and have already been to the health stores in my surrounding areas to see if they have something that I am able to take, but most that are vegan contain Tapioca Starch. Any help that you can offer is greatly appreciated (and any tofu recipes if you are willing to share them!)

Week 14 : Edible Book Challenge - Lila's Ube Crinkle Cookies
I struggled way too long with what to make for this challenge! Finally inspiration struck - these are cookies from the culinary mystery (yes, this is an actual sub genre) "Arsenic and Adobo" by Mia Manansala. The book features Filipino recipes and I should really try more of them.
Unlike most ube cookie recipes which call for just a hint of ube, this one really leans into the flavor. The result is an earthy, not-too-sweet, complex cookie. Everyone who's tried it has liked it.

2024.05.28 03:33 TimeTeaCa Tea with milk is drunk all over the world, both hot and cold: who drinks it, how and why

Tea with milk is drunk all over the world, both hot and cold: who drinks it, how and why
Tea with milk is not only a drink, but also a real tradition that came to us from distant countries.
Some people drink it to quench their thirst, some to wake up in the morning, and others simply enjoy its delicate taste. Do you know which tea is best for mixing with milk? Or how to brew this drink correctly so that it comes out perfect?
If not, then we are ready to share with you the secrets of making the most delicious milk tea
https://preview.redd.it/1ieekjg9m23d1.jpg?width=1178&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=16d6531144cbabbd15563e8a022094f1350423ec
Adding milk softens and smoothes out the taste, especially the bitter notes of black tea. Milk can be of animal origin or plant-based – soy, almond, rice. Plant-based milk substitutes are now increasingly used.
Milk tea: a variety of flavors and brewing methods
https://preview.redd.it/n6ydd871m23d1.jpg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1152f68099f58a6eab52cbb09225d9d73772643f
But still, tea with milk is a very subtle story, and not just another drink. Take, for example, the well-known English tradition – first pour milk into a cup, and the temperature of the milk should be approximately 50 degrees Celsius, and only then add freshly brewed ~black tea~~.~ Practical British people initially cared so much about fine, expensive porcelain, but, as it turned out, and scientists confirmed this, tea with milk actually tastes better prepared in this way. And in any cup, not necessarily made of fine porcelain. It is believed that this method of preparing milk tea does not change the taste of the tea itself too much. Experiments have proven that if you do the opposite – pour cold milk on top of hot tea, a thin film-foam will form on the surface. And this sometimes makes it very difficult to enjoy your favorite drink. Fans drink this tea with sugar – preferably cane sugar. But, in my opinion, it tastes better without sugar, as a bite with good chocolate candy or cookies.
The second most popular is the Indian method of brewing tea. And this drink has a name – masala tea, which in translation means tea with spices, a mixture of spices. The traditional recipe calls for boiling black tea, milk and several spices, including cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and ginger, then straining into mugs before serving. Which spice to choose is a matter of taste; the end result will still be a spicy, thick tea. But the main, obligatory one is cardamom.
This Indian spiced tea has grown in popularity and is sometimes prepared from powders or syrups.
Mongolian tea suutei (sutei) tsai is not as popular as masala tea. Perhaps because of the specific taste – after all, flour, fat and salt are added to it. It’s somehow not quite usual for tea, isn’t it? However, the defining ingredient is still tea; in the traditional recipe it is green tile (brick).

The tea is ground into powder, poured with cold water, brought to a boil and milk is added. Traditionally, the ratio of water and milk is 1:1. Milk can be cow, sheep or camel. It is mandatory to add ghee – cow, camel or yak. Flour for tea is pre-fried until golden brown. The required ingredient is salt. Of course, the drink turns out to be very high in calories, and the goal is not only to quench your thirst, but also to fill you up. Served before and during lunch, it replaces soup and is drunk throughout the day.
Tea, although called Mongolian, is also used in Kalmykia. But without pain. Only tea, water, milk, fat and salt.
Hong Kong tea, as its name suggests, was invented and loved in Hong Kong. Under the influence of the British, black tea with milk was also loved by the local population, but changed slightly. This did not make it any worse, although it is condemned by the British. It just became a little different – more tart from the thick brew and creamy from the concentrated milk – this is what Hong Kong tea is brewed with. Yes, they brew everything together like Indian masala tea, but without spices. Drink hot or cold. For brewing, only “red” varieties of tea are preferred. Add sugar or sweetened condensed milk. Hong Kong tea is also called “stocking tea” or “milk tea in silk stockings.” The fact is that preparing Hong Kong milk tea does not end with brewing tea with milk, but a mandatory procedure is straining the finished tea through a canvas bag resembling the shape of a stocking.
Another way of consuming milk tea that has recently become popular, especially among children and youth, is ~Taiwanese~ bubble tea. The drink is made from black or ~green tea~ with the addition of milk powder and sweetener (or without it) and tapioca pearls – balls made from the starchy flour of a plant called cassava.
https://preview.redd.it/gebivui4m23d1.jpg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=48230e034378078a91a498fa7f4efc1c453b15ba
Cassava is a root crop of the tropical plant of the same name, vaguely reminiscent of potatoes. When soaked, the balls become like chewing marmalade. Taiwanese tea is a refreshing drink, served with ice and a wide straw into which chewy balls are funnily drawn.
Even the simplest and most familiar preparation of milk tea can become unique if you follow the serving tradition. In Malaysia, iced milk tea is a mixture of powdered black tea with condensed milk and ice, poured several times from one cup to another. A thick, stretchy foam is formed, and the tea is called elongated. It really looks like it: the tea seems to stretch from one cup to another.
It is not at all necessary to leave your native kitchen and go to distant countries to prepare any of your favorite tea drinks with milk. The only condition is that the tea must be of high quality, be it tea leaves or tea bags.
The most common one in our country is tea with milk in English.
The debate about what to pour into the cup first – milk or tea leaves – is akin to the debate about the birthright of an egg and a chicken. But science still says that hot milk should be poured into the cup first, and then well-brewed tea. Let’s do so. As a sweetener you can take sugar (white or brown), honey, stevia, erythritol. If you ask me how I like it, I will answer – no sugar at all.
To prepare tea in English you need:
  1. Rinse the teapot with hot water.
  2. Place the tea leaves or tea bag in the teapot and fill with boiled water – 95 degrees.
  3. Wait for the tea to brew – 4–5 minutes.
  4. Heat the milk to 50–60 degrees (or whatever you prefer – cooler or hotter)
  5. Pour the milk into a cup and pour the tea leaves on top through a strainer. There is no need to add more water. Calculate immediately how much water you need.
  6. You can also add milk to taste – more or less.
  7. Add sweetener.
Masala tea leaves many people indifferent, even after trying it once. It can be prepared from dry ingredients, or you can spend a little more time and prepare freshly grated ginger, grind cardamom, cloves, and peppercorns in a mortar. The taste will, of course, vary significantly. Masala tea is a soothing and warming drink; you can drink it both in the morning with breakfast and after dinner. Try making tea with this set of spices, and then experiment, find your own version of taste and aroma. There is no exact recipe. Try adding coriander, fennel seeds, lemongrass, star anise, allspice, tamarind, vanilla and nutmeg.

Traditionally, for masala tea you need:
  • 500 ml whole milk or vegetable substitute
  • 500 ml water
  • 2 tbsp. spoons of black tea leaves
  • 4 buds of cloves
  • 2 boxes of green cardamom
  • 2 black peppercorns
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 cm ginger
  • 2 tbsp. spoons of sugar
  1. Grind cloves, black pepper and cardamom in a mortar.
  2. Peel and grate or chop the ginger.
  3. In a small saucepan, combine milk, water and spices.
  4. Place on the fire, bring to a boil and cook over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add sugar and tea leaves. Stir and cook over low heat for 5 minutes.
  6. Strain the finished tea through a strainer into glasses or cups.

Drink it hot!

2024.05.26 00:28 discoglittering Ice Cream Science 101

My husband and I planned at one point to open a small batch ice cream shop (but life happened). We spent a long time studying ice cream science.
I’ll try to answer anything I missed if anyone has questions.
ETA: nobody asked but I brought up custard, so I thought I would put in egg info: egg yolk qualifies as an emulsifier and a thickener if cooked into a proper custard (or I guess you could try a cold mayo technique with a milk base, lmk how that goes) and also adds richness from fat. Since the fat in egg has a different composition than milkfat, it adds a nice roundness to the mouthfeel while pushing the fat content a little higher.

2024.05.25 18:12 givemeyourdataset Can someone explain the differences between using Psyllium Husk, Xanthan Gum, Tapioca Starch, and Whey Protein Isolate?

I have a Lebanese bread family recipe (yeast-based) that I would like to make, but my girlfriend has Celiac disease and so I need to make it gluten-free. I would like to stay true to my recipe and substitute the flour with a gluten-free one. I am just not sure what I should substitute the flour with. I saw different recipes make different use of the aforementioned ingredients and different combinations. From what I understood Gluten has 4 functions:
From what I understand there isn't a single compound that does what Gluten does and so we need to add them to the dough.
Gluten is a protein, but none of the other compounds (except Whey Isolate) are proteins. It seems intuitive to use whey protein to get the proteins back, but not all recipes do that.
Also, I've seen some recipes use both psyllium husk and tapioca starch, and some use only of them. Why? Are they interchangeable? Do they all serve the same function? And then there's Xanthan Gum...
I would really appreciate it if someone could break down the effects of each and when I should use which and why...

2024.05.24 20:57 IconicallyChroniced Camping Recipes

I had trouble finding ideas for camping so I wanted to share what I’m doing here! I’m going camping for two weeks and while I can drive into town to restock I don’t want to have to rely on that. I am going to a music festival later this summer and will be trialing out these recipes while camping so I can take the best to the music festival (where I will be camping for six days and can’t leave so I need stuff that will keep in hot weather.
All of these were made with freeze dried items and will be paired with cassava noodles, sweet potato noodles, or sweet potato hash. All are in a labeled ziploc baggie.
Chicken Divan - 1/2 cup chicken - 1 tbsp onion - 4 tsp coconut powder - 1/2cup broccoli - 1/4 cup spinach - 1/2 tsp mushroom powder - 1/4 tsp marjoram
This recipe I also made one version with 1tbsp of tapioca flour as a thickener and one without. Since it’s all in one bag and usually thickener isn’t added at the start I’m experimenting with how it goes. Will have with noodles of some kind.
Curried chicken
Going to pair with Korean sweet potato glass noodles.
Chicken mix
This one is my plain kind of base mixture and I will try it with different noodles and sweet potato hash to see how it goes.
I added 1/4 tsp of salt to everything and might add more depending on how it goes.
Will report back on how they taste!

2024.05.23 21:02 M1cha3l137 Game Crashed: Mod Compatibility Problems! Please Help!

Was trying to make a farming simulator modpack for myself and was trying to work out which mods were incompatible with each other. I formerly had supplimentaries in this modpack as well but it was crashing as soon as the game was on the initial loading screen and wouldn't give me an error code. Anyways, it gave me this error code and I can't make heads or tail of it. Could someone help me with tryting to find what is incompatible with my mods? I have a suspicion that it may be one of the Create mods i have in here but i wanna make sure because I already spent a good 2 hours going through each mod to figure out supplimentaries was crashing my game of start up. Please let me know of any potential fixes that y'all may see!
