Nearly one in five voters in battleground states says that President Biden is responsible for ending the constitutional right to abortion, a new poll found, despite the fact that he supports abortion rights and that his opponent Donald J. Trump appointed three Supreme Court justices who made it possible to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Trump supporters and voters with less education were most likely to attribute responsibility for abortion bans to Mr. Biden, but the misperception existed across demographic groups. Twelve percent of Democrats hold Mr. Biden responsible, according to New York Times/Siena College polls in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada and Wisconsin and a Times/Philadelphia InquireSiena poll in Pennsylvania.
“I think the buck stops with him, so he had the ability to fight that, and that’s not what I’m hearing that he did,” said Terri Yonemura, 62, an abortion rights supporter in Las Vegas who said she would not vote for Mr. Trump, but is unsure about Mr. Biden, so may not vote at all.
Many voters who held Mr. Biden responsible said they simply didn’t pay close attention to politics or government affairs. For some, the confusion came from the fact that the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision happened while Mr. Biden was president.
DeLana Marsh, 30, of Holly Springs, Ga., supports abortion rights and opposes a new Georgia law that bans abortions after six weeks of pregnancy: “I don’t think a group of men should be able to decide that for us.”
But she said she was under the impression that Mr. Biden was responsible because it happened during his presidency, and she believed his age prevented him from closely tracking such events.
Other voters said Mr. Biden hadn’t done enough to stop state abortion bans. (He has criticized the Dobbs decision and enacted certain federal policies to support abortion rights, and does not have the authority to reverse state laws.)
“There should be no restrictions on abortion whatsoever,” said Ana Juarez Ramirez, 18, of Nogales, Ariz. Yet he says Mr. Biden made empty promises on many issues, including abortion.
“Biden did not fully criticize or condemn the taking away of people’s rights,” he said. Still, he plans to vote for Mr. Biden, mostly because, he said, “I don’t even want to think about voting for Trump.”
Overall, voters in battleground states say they trust Mr. Biden more than Mr. Trump to handle the issue of abortion, largely unchanged since last November. But even so, about 6 percent of Democrats, including many who want abortion to remain legal, say they trust Mr. Trump more to handle the issue.
Some voters said they did not believe that Mr. Trump actually opposed abortion rights. Among Republicans, only about four in 10 held him responsible for Dobbs, a figure that may reflect partisanship as well as confusion. But on some aspects of the abortion debate, Mr. Trump has sent mixed signals..
Mr. Trump has clearly claimed responsibility for the decision: “I was able to kill Roe v. Wade,” he posted last year, and last month reiterated that he was “proudly the person responsible” for doing so.
Yet recently, he wouldn’t commit to a position on a national abortion ban and said he would allow states to prosecute women who violated abortion restrictions. But several weeks earlier, he said he believed abortion law should be left to the states and include exceptions.
Christine Valenti, 72, is a Republican from Wisconsin and two-time Trump voter who says abortion should be mostly legal and that women in states with bans should be able to travel to another state to get one.
But she said that Mr. Trump’s recent statements on leaving abortion up to the states assured her that his views were in line with hers. And she said Mr. Biden hadn’t done enough to support abortion rights: “He doesn’t say much about it anymore. He’s our president, but he doesn’t say a lot, period, about anything.”
Ultimately, though, she said the economy was her more pressing concern. When voters were asked for the one issue most important to them in the election, the largest share of respondents, 21 percent, said the economy. Abortion and immigration were next, with just over 10 percent saying each was most important

I got married in February of last year and moved to the USA in May 2023. I sold all my belongings in my country and came without debt. However, over time, I found out that the man I married didn't have a job or any income because he was "starting a startup" (which never materialized). Seeing that he didn't have a job and I did (remote), I contributed $4k because we really couldn't pay the bills in the USA. As time passed, our finances got worse. I lost my job because it was temporary and the contract expired, and he continued not to seek employment or contribute financially. His parents gifted us $10k, which was supposed to be divided for food, rent, and legal fees for my green card process. However, he, being unemployed for the last two years, had been accumulating debt on his credit cards. Out of the $10k, he used it for rent, food, and paying off his credit cards, delaying the immigration paperwork despite my $4k contribution. I want to clarify that I arrived in May, and all of this happened between May and September of the previous year. He always said it was okay for me to bring money because I wouldn't "eat and live for free," but before coming to the USA, he told me he could support me for three months until I found a job, which didn't happen.
Four months passed until September when I forced us to move to L.A. to live with his parents because we couldn't pay the bills. By this time, the immigration process was on hold, preventing me from legally working in this country, so neither of us was working.
He fell into depression because his startup failed, and from September to April of this year, he was without work. With the help of his parents, we were able to submit the immigration paperwork, and in December, I received my work permit, so I started working whatever jobs I could find (cook and nanny), while he stayed at home doing nothing, always saying he was "applying for jobs, but the economy was bad," when it was actually his resume that was poor, deliberately made that way to avoid being hired. Also, he wasn't willing to work just any job; it had to be an office position because working at "in-n-out" was beneath him.
In February, a former professor from my university contacted me and offered me a job here in the USA (I'm an architect) and invited me to a convention in Las Vegas, which I attended. At that time, we were fighting because I broke his monitor while he was playing World of War for 16 hours a day (I was really frustrated, and that fight was horrible; I damaged his monitor, and he broke my laptop). Before going to Las Vegas, I opened an account because I didn't want him to monitor that I had to use my money to go there, even though the company that was going to hire me was going to reimburse the expenses I paid with my credit card. That was the main reason why I opened an account without him knowing.
Now it turns out that my husband has a job, and I do too, and we've been able to solve many of the problems. However, he wants me to deposit my salary into our joint account and found out about the other bank account I opened without telling him. Yesterday he demanded to see my transactions in the other account and wants me to transfer all of April's salary to our joint account and all future salaries. What should I do? I don't know how to feel.

Hi Vegas local! I had a feeling this was going to happen to them and it did 🥴 my friends got scammed out of an Airbnb and the hosts were called Escape Travel Club. If anyone is airbnbing from them BE VERY VERY VERY CAUTIOUS. It seems like they have an empire of houses in Las Vegas and love to cancel on people last minute.
Either way, I’m feeling vindictive and my question is would anything come of it if I were to report them to Clark County for an illegal STR operation? Are Airbnb still not technically allowed in Las Vegas?

I watched part of it. I think the lawyer who presented for the church came across well. While the statements that the building and size of the walls and rooms and steeple are religiously important are overstatements. What I could agree with was that a steeple is one of the most recognizable symbols of a Christian church building. That’s true.
The staff had recommended approval. The typical for and against statements were made by the public.

I got the shuttle pass from stubhub, which enables self-pick with photo ID at stuhub last-minute service center. It is one 3-day standard shuttle pass at "The Rio". I can't go EDC now unfortunately due to personal matters, if anyone is interested in the shuttle pass, please feel free to DM me.

It's not a huge story with a big evil Karen or anything, but I was just happy that I actually do have an IDWHL story of my own after lurking for so long. This happened back in February of this year.
Some background:
I was visiting Las Vegas with a friend and we decided to get some VIP scavenger hunt tickets for that interactive art exhibit thing called Omega Mart. So, that means I had a themed lanyard and a small clipboard I was carrying around. On top of that, I was also wearing a black hoodie with a design by the same artist who made some of the visuals in Omega Mart. For reference, the people who actually worked there had either a yellow, blue, or red shirt and a yellow, blue, or red apron with the logo on both. They were pretty bright and difficult to miss. Now onto the story.
I had split off from my friend to put one of the funny daikon radish toys back on the shelf because I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy it as a souvenir or not. As I put the radish back, this woman stops me. She had two teenage kids with her, probably around 14-16. I don't remember the dialogue verbatim, but it went something like this.
Woman: "You guys have secure lockers here in the back, right? Can you put our stuff in there?"
Now, I was in a bit of a hurry to find and meet back up with my friend, so I just said, "Sorry, I don't work here!" and turned to scurry away. But I'm that kind of person that loves helping others. I just knew I would be upset at myself later if I didn't help this lady.
So I turned back around and got her attention again. "The employees here wear those bright aprons, there's one behind the counter there who can help you!" I pointed to the counter, she thanked me, and then I went back to looking for my friend.
No screaming involved, pretty short, and it's not in the typical setting for IDWHL stories, but I wanted to share it anyway! I'm also on mobile, so I apologize for any formatting issues.
