What is the Conditional Perfect Tense (Condicional compuesto) in Spanish

2024.05.15 18:50 BaraaBilalPal What is the Conditional Perfect Tense (Condicional compuesto) in Spanish

Understanding the Conditional Perfect Tense (Condicional Compuesto) in Spanish

The Conditional Perfect Tense, known in Spanish as "Condicional Compuesto", is used to talk about actions that would have happened but didn't because some condition was not met. It's similar to the English construction "would have + past participle."

Formation of the Conditional Perfect Tense

The Conditional Perfect Tense is formed by using the conditional tense of the auxiliary verb haber followed by the past participle of the main verb.
Here’s the formula: [Subject] + haber (in conditional tense) + past participle
Haber in the Conditional Tense: - Yo habría - Tú habrías - Él/Ella/Usted habría - Nosotros habríamos - Vosotros habríais - Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes habrían
Past Participle Formation: - For -ar verbs: replace -ar with -ado (e.g., hablar -> hablado) - For -er and -ir verbs: replace -e-ir with -ido (e.g., comer -> comido, vivir -> vivido)

Examples:

Usage

The Conditional Perfect Tense is often used in combination with the past perfect subjunctive (pluscuamperfecto del subjuntivo) to discuss hypothetical situations in the past.

“Lord, whether I will it or not, save me…” Part 2
John and Rebecca, who converted to Orthodoxy in 2006, became parishioners of the Church of Apostles Peter and Paul, and now they could sing and read together in the choir. The friendly parish consisted of Orthodox Christians of different nationalities and colors—Russians, Americans, Czechs, and Mexicans. Their daughter Alyona was born that same year.
Most of the photos from the family archive depict John, his daughter and his wife. Since Alyona’s birth, her dad has always been close by—at home, on vacation, or at school. A big smile, a kind look full of love for his loved ones and the people around him are in every photo.
After John graduated from university in 2007, he and his family decided to move to the small town of Eau Claire for a residency in family psychology. To accomplish this, John took a out student loan to open a clinic and purchase a small farm, where he and his wife showed the talent of their ancestors who had tilled farmland.

After working for two years, John realized that because of compulsory clinical practices that existed in American medicine (such as abortion), he was unable to build a professional career without violating Christian commandments. As a result, he had to quit working in the medical field. Having worked as a mechanic for a company that sold biogas purifying and refining systems, he became unemployed in 2012 after his employer went bankrupt. Fr. John recalls that his job of mechanic helped him develop a sense of humility when he, a former nuclear physicist, had to clean dirty filters. Unemployed, he wasted no time passing an industrial engineer license exam, and in 2013 he found a job in his profession. In 2014, after living in misery for ten years, Rebecca was diagnosed with Bekhterev’s disease.

In Seattle, their daughter Alyona, who had already learned the basics of reading and writing in Russian at home, entered the Orthodox school at St. Nicholas Cathedral, one of the oldest Orthodox churches in the Americas. It was founded in 1932 by Russian immigrants, primarily the former Imperial Navy officers who found political refuge there from the Bolsheviks. Vladyka John of Shanghai, now glorified among the saints, departed to the Lord in 1966 in one of the cathedral’s rooms while he was staying there during an archpastoral visit. The Stashko family had been parishioners of the St. Nicholas Cathedral for seven years before their move to Russia. John sang in the cathedral choir, which at times numbered as many as twenty-five singers and included a former opera singer named Harry.

Classes at the Orthodox school at the cathedral held on Saturdays included only humanity subjects, such as teaching of the Law of God, Orthodox chants, and the Russian language, literature and culture. Alyona studied all other subjects at home. Her mother taught the complete curriculum in English, while her father supplemented her knowledge in Math, Physics, and Science in Russian. Alyona spoke Russian from early childhood, as her father used to read to her only Russian-language books, despite being unable at times to understand the words he was reading, referring to a dictionary. John considers himself responsible for his daughter’s upbringing, and her spiritual state in particular.
John displayed a well-rounded personality from childhood. He refused to watch television in his youth, believing that television programs, and especially television advertising, had a negative effect on a person, left intrusive imagery and melodies in the memory, thus harming one’s spiritual state. He also believed that rock music caused despondency. When he was twenty-four, he decided to learn to play the violin. As a result, he worked at it for ten years with the help of a tutor and later switched to cello. He misses this instrument greatly—he had to leave it back in the USA and there is no way to to retrieve it in the future.

John prefers using literary English and avoids slang. He is thrilled with genuine literary Russian language in the belief that man differs from the rest of creation because he can speak, and we are given the skill to use words in order to communicate with God. He can’t tolerate swearing, and prefers to stay silent. Besides English and Russian, he studied several other languages, including Japanese. When we mentioned the Holy Hierarch Innocent of Moscow in the story about the miraculous help through prayer in front of the “Sitka” Icon of the Mother of God, the name of the Holy Hierarch Nicholas of Japan also came up, as he was spiritually connected with the Holy Hierarch Innocent. John was in Japan before he converted to Orthodoxy and participated at Catholic church services there. He sang the prokeimenon in Japanese to commemorate the trip.
In 2018, John came to the Russian city of Ust-Ilimsk in the north of the Irkutsk Region to work on the “Technological re-equipment of the evaporation station” project at a local forest industry complex. In his free time, he began attending services at the Church of All Saints Who Shone Forth in the Russian Land, and with the blessing of its rector Archpriest Alexander Bely-Kruglyakov he joined the church choir.
When Rebecca and Alyona arrived to Ust-Ilimsk, it became obvious that his wife’s illness was receding in the seemingly harsher climate conditions of the Russian North. They bought an apartment where both mother and daughter were staying while John entered the correspondence department of mechanical engineering department at Togliatti State University. At the height of the coronavirus epidemic in 2020, John decided to give up his position in the US and reside in Ust-Ilimsk, having obtained a temporary residence permit in Russia. In 2021, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from TSU, and thanks to his education, he was able to obtain Russian citizenship. As a regular member of the choir, he was ordained a Reader.
At the end of April 2022, Metropolitan Maximilian of Irkutsk and Angarsk came with an archpastoral visit to the Church of All Saints Who Shone Forth in the Russian Land in Ust-Ilimsk. John was chanting as he always did at the evening service on the Sunday of Antipascha. Upon hearing him singing at church, Vladyka blessed John to become a deacon. As he recalled his life’s journey, John said he undoubtedly had great doubts about this blessing. There were times in his life when his soul became attached to earthly things and worldly blessings. Besides, extra knowledge often blinds our minds—there are only few among us who made discoveries in the area of nuclear physics! It is not without reason that John’s previous life was so close to the mad rich man’s from the passage in the Gospel of Luke, chapter 12, verses 16–21. But other stories from his life also come to mind, especially in his childhood while still a young boy, he pretended to be a priest; or as a young man he wished he could stay at church forever after attending services.
He pondered Vladyka’s blessing for a week. Rebecca also supported his decision to be ordained. The Lord was leading his servant John towards this moment all his life along a rather complicated and winding path. Reading about the life of the Church abroad, our fellow countrymen and compatriots who had to leave their homeland during the terrible revolutionary years, we marvel at their innocence and the depth of their faith, which was as natural to them as breathing. God created Man to be His co-creator, that’s why it isn’t surprising that a man can combine such vast life experience—physics and poetry, medicine, knowledge of languages, intensive music studies, and singing talent. Our abilities and talents are not limited but need to be developed, so that we don’t turn our life into a downward spiral.
During challenging moments of life, John always reads the Psalm 90 of David. Because of his deep reverence for the Mother of God, he loves to sing the Magnificat of the Most Holy Mother of God from Matins, especially its first verse “The Theotokos and the Mother of Light, let us magnify in hynms…” which is now a part of his ministry.
The amazing story of Fr. John’s life journey corresponds to the words of the Akathist written by Holy Hierarch Tryphon Turkestanov, “Glory to God for All Things.”
In the wondrous blending of sounds, it is Your call we hear. In the harmony of many voices, in the sublime beauty of music, in the glory of the works of great composers, You lead us to the threshold of paradise to come, and to the choirs of angels. All true beauty has the power to draw the soul towards You and make it sing in ecstasy: Alleluia!
The breath of Thy Holy Spirit inspires artists, poets, scientists. The power of Thy supreme knowledge makes them prophets and interpreters of Thy laws, who reveal the depths of Thy creative wisdom. Their works speak unwittingly of Thee. How great Thou art in Thy creation! How great Thou art in man!
Glory to Thee, showing Thy unsurpassable power in the laws of the universe. Glory to Thee, for all nature is filled with Thy laws. Glory to Thee for what Thou hast revealed to us in Thy mercy. Glory to Thee for what Thou hast hidden from us in Thy wisdom. Glory to Thee for the inventiveness of the human mind. Glory to Thee for the dignity of man’s labor. Glory to Thee for the tongues of fire that bring inspiration. Glory to Thee, O God, from age to age.
On June 26, 2022, Metropolitan Maximilian of Irkutsk and Angarsk ordained John to the diaconate.
The diaconal ordination took place on the day of the patronal feast of the churches of All Saints Who Shone Forth in the Russian Land in both Ust-Ilimsk and Bratsk. It’s been truly providential, just like everything else in our life. Through the prayers of his patron saint the Holy Hierarch John Chrysostom, his parents and grandparents, the dreams of a small American boy with a Russian soul named John Chrysostom to live in Russia and always remain at church in order to serve the Lord have come true. He walked towards it all his life, unable to find complete satisfaction from any of his numerous activities and hobbies, because the Lord was preparing him to serve at the altar of God—the ministry that is loftier than anything else on earth.

2024.03.10 19:47 LanguagesYeah123 1500 hour update from the Mixed Results Guy (with a sound clip)

I posted a 1000 hour summary in August (linked here) and wanted to give a 1500 hour update.
I'll say upfront that this post doesn't really have a thesis. It's just a long collection of thoughts about what I've been consuming over the past 500 hours and how I feel about my progress in each of these areas.
Series:
Although I could more or less understand 100% of the Dreaming Spanish Advanced videos at the 1000 hour mark, I felt really lost with watching dubbed television series. My goal at that point was to simply power through it and force myself to adapt, as this is what had worked fairly rapidly when moving from Intermediate to Advanced.
I began by watching the first few episodes of Friends...and feeling like I wasn't adapting. I then decided to watch the next episode on my phone (rather than the tv) with earphones in, and immediately felt a dramatic difference in my ability to follow it. I think that part of this was that watching on the smaller screen of my phone made the "voices not matching the mouths" problem much less noticeable and less distracting. The other part is obviously that it is easier to understand with the sound piped directly into your ears.
I quickly adapted to that and watch all 236 episodes of the show (this was from hours 1000-1250). I am hard on myself when it comes to judging comprehension. For me, 100% comprehension means I could pause after every sentence or two and repeat back exactly what was said both in Spanish and English (I don't actually do this, but this is what 100% means to me). Although I never had any problems with following the overall plot, and understood almost everything that was being said, there were still several moments in every episode where I didn't understand little lines and quips. And usually once per episode, there would be a conversation where I would get a little lost and not quite understand what was happening. Overall, reasonably happy with the progress at that moment in time, though.
I then moved on to Curb Your Enthusiasm and watched all 110 episodes (this was in the 1250-1400 hours range). I am not watching the new season in Spanish because Spanish Larry died in 2022 and I just don't want to change to the new voice actor. The original voice actor did an incredible adaptation of Larry, by the way. My comprehension at this stage felt exactly the same as it did with Friends - mostly good, but would get lost at times (and not just during the scenes where two people are just yelling and talking over each other, which is common in this show). I'm pretty disappointed that I still have issues with 100% comprehension of a show like this at this point. From the final episode of Friends to the final episode of Curb, I honestly don't feel like I improved at all.
I recently watched the first 10 episodes of Big Bang Theory, but the rapid monotone voice and somewhat non-standard language of Sheldon was kind of hard to follow, so I decided to stop watching (I mostly just wasn't enjoying it). I'm currently on The Office.
Am I "akin to a native speaker" at 1500 hours when it comes to series? Absolutely not. Not even close.
Podcasts:
I feel really good about this area. I've been listening to several podcasts for native speakers and feel like I'm close to 100% comprehension. I'll just name them here in case someone wants to check them out.
Siempre hay flores: 30-something girl from Monterrey, Mexico. She kind of rambles for 30-50 minutes about life, self-help, relationship-ish type things. Uses a lot of Mexican slang and has a fairly distinct northern Mexican accent. I find her easy to listen to and pretty enjoyable. I started at the first episode and am continuing to work my way through all of them.
Desde aqui: Same type of podcast as above, but with a Venezuelan girl that lives in LA. She has a channel called Break Con Valen on Youtube that I'll occasionally watch, although the YT channel is about stuff that I'm not particularly interested in. Podcast is much easier to listen to.
El y Ella: Podcast with Dana Lucia from Youtube. Easy to listen to.
Se Regalan Dudas: I listen from time to time, but I honestly just don't like the sound of the voices. Sometimes listen to En Terapia. I'm only mentioning these so that someone doesn't suggest them as options.
I still listen to new episodes of How To Spanish, Learn Spanish and Go, the Friday conversation episodes of Hoy Hablamos, and any conversational episode of No Hay Tos (not the ones where they just translate idioms or do grammar exercises). Occasionally, Charlas Hispanas and Naturalmente Sascha.
Am I "akin to a native speaker" at 1500 hours when it comes to podcasts? No, but I don't feel that far off.
Reading:
I read Habitos Atomicos. I wanted to read the book anyway, so I figured I might as well do it in Spanish (two birds with one stone). I recommend it. Didn't find it particularly difficult to read.
I just finished "Yo No Soy Tu Perfecta Hija Mexicana". I bought it on a whim on Amazon without any knowledge of the target demographic. It turns out that it is a Young Adult novel that seems to be aimed at . Didn't find it difficult to read, although I wouldn't recommend it unless you like YA stuff.
I recently started a book called "El secreto de las olas". It was translated into Spain Spanish and I'm finding it more difficult than the previous two books. It's still fine, though.
Am I "akin to a native speaker" at 1500 hours when it comes to reading? No, but I don't feel that far off from what where I'd like to be. I don't feel the need to be able to comfortably read 100 Years of Solitude.
Youtube:
I don't really watch much YT in Spanish at this point. A lot of videos are 10 minutes, but with only 5 minutes of input (the rest is montages of walking around, landscapes, cooking, etc.). That's fine for what their content is intended for, but I don't want to watch 30 minutes and only get 15 minutes out of it. Podcasts are more efficient.
Someone on here recommended the channel Nowehi, a daily family vlog about a Spanish family living in Florida. At times I find it comprehensible, but it is often very difficult to follow (talking off camera, talking without a microphone, etc.). I watch for about 5-10 minutes every day as a gauge.
Speaking:
I need to book some conversation lessons. I just haven't yet. I've started browsing iTalki, but haven't pulled the trigger. That's the next goal.
Here's a link to me speaking for those that are interested: https://voca.ro/1c2Q8PWP9GBa
It's kind of funny to hear myself on a recording. In my mind, I always thought that I sounded much better than this. I don't think it's terrible or anything, but it's more gringo than I imagined.
If I ever wind up using this language, it would primarily be with usted. I have very little exposure to the use of usted at this point, though. When using object pronouns, sometimes it's le, sometimes la/lo, and sometimes se, depending on whether it's direct or indirect or reflexive. Aside from "le gusta..." "le dije" "no se preocupe" and a few others, none of those flow out naturally in a subconscious way when I practice speaking in the car by myself. I'm still almost entirely translating in my head when speaking.
In the Wild:
I still find it difficult to understand the conversations of other people in the real world. One of my colleagues is a native speaker who frequently speaks Spanish with our Spanish-speaking visitors (I can easily overhear from my office). I rarely understand. When the conversations are in English, I can understand, so it's not a matter of just not being able to hear. Sometimes there's a form of third-person crosstalk when listening to them. Person 1 will start in Spanish. Person 2 will answer in English. Person 1 will respond in English. Person 2 will respond in Spanish. You would think this would be easier to understand than a full Spanish conversation, but it isn't. I've stopped letting it bother me, though.
What's next? Keep plugging away. This is a daily routine that I'll probably never change. I just need to add in speaking, which I'll do soon.
I'll keep counting hours because it helps me complete my daily goal and I'd like to be able to compare my thoughts at different milestones. I might check back in at 2000 or 2500 hours.

2024.03.06 07:57 RadiReturnsOnceAgain Arjuna's Spoken Hindi: A Quick TL Note / Rare W

A few days back Arjuna's spoken cutscene intro (image 1 & image 2) made the rounds on Twitter, since a Servant speaking other languages is relatively rare. Some wanted to know if the translation was accurate, to which the answer is a bit nuanced. I shared my thoughts there and figured I'd give a slightly lengthier explanation here too in case anyone is interested in that sort of thing.
Note: I'm not a language expert nor specifically trained in Hindi, I just know how to speak it as my second language. Also, unfortunately I didn't have my volume up during the scene, so I can't rate Arjuna's pronunciation.
TLDR: The phrase sounds very awkward when spoken or read literally, and isn't strictly correct, but the choice of wording conveys the gist of the original (Star Wars) phrase in a clevecreative way.
"Chashma apke paas rahe."
Chashma = glasses. Apke = you (formal); similar to usted in Spanish. Paas = with (for nonliving objects). Rahe = to be with*.
The word that throws things out of whack here is rahe. Literally, the meaning is correct - may the glasses be with you - but for a Hindi speaker the word sticks out like a sore thumb.
The reason for this is because we use multiple words for "to be", each with their own connotation. For objects, we use "rakhe" = to exist or to be placed physically nearby. Chashma aapke paas rakhe = Keep your glasses with/near you.
Rahe, on the other hand, is for concepts or states of existence. It is never used to apply to physical objects. Common example phrases include Khush rahe = To be happy, or literally, "be in a state of happiness"; and Chup rahe = to be quiet, or "to be in a state of silence" (or the more common application, "shut up").
So this choice of "rahe" feels extremely clumsy because the meaning comes closer to "May glasses exist/live near you", or "May you exist in a state of being near glasses." Which of course, is a very silly state to be in. But in the context of the Force, and in this case, a greater spiritual concept of glasses, it actually fits quite well with the intended meaning.
If I were to have done the TL myself, a slightly more natural way to phrase it while keeping the meaning would be to use saat rather than paas. Similar to the application of rakho, paas is used for objects to show physical nearness ("I am with the car). On the other hand, saat is used for living things, and can include being 'together with' someone in a more spiritual or personal sense. By using "paas rahe" there's a weird "object usage + living usage" flip; which is fixed by "saat rahe" for the double "living usage". This better conveys from the beginning that glasses are being referred to as some living/spiritual concept. Chashma apke saat rahe. May the glasses be with you.
In any case, if this was fully deliberate, then it was a clever choice of words and a good way of applying an English concept to a language where it doesn't fit as neatly. I applaud whoever was behind the decision and hope we get to see more of it in the future.

2024.01.25 18:55 s2w Secrets of the Goblin Gods - A venture into Krailos #1/2

Secrets of the Goblin Gods - A venture into Krailos #1/2
Hi!
Nibble is imprisoned by the Ogres
After reading the latest Explorer's Diary by Tibiasecrets.com I got inspired to document all Krailos NPCs via hotkey spamming.
The ogres turned out to have some interesting lore, but I got surprised when finding out the goblins are chatty and respond to strange keywords - and then I found they shed some truly secret and interesting information about the ancient history of Kilmaresh and the gods.
While conversing, all keywords used by the ogres are highlighted in dark blue. However, the goblins, quite unexpectedly, don't have any highlighted keywords.
The goblins are currently in peril, hunted and abused by the ogres who use them as miners and for food.
It’s our job to help them, as the ogres have infiltrated their secret city within the mountains.
P.S. This is written in a quite loose-cannon way, more like journeying into thought-trains with some context.

Language

They know a very interesting language, and even give us some translations.
Not only that, they are clever and their English vocabulary is quite insane, especially when compared to other goblins we can talk to - such as Robson’s “Lunch”. The Babel Swimmer is another reason I wanted to study this place.

Sadly we don't get to hear the Runaway Goblins name, as he's hiding from something greater
For some reason, we are not able to hear all there is to hear and mispronounce badly.
Now this will derail a bit and you'll get to see my thought process because fun.
This language interestingly bears similar characteristics as Jehkr, the deepling language, and also Gharonk - where a single word can mean multiple things.
Which is also the case for 'draconic glyphs' - Given that The First Dragon appreciates English where every word always keeps the same meaning.
https://preview.redd.it/0go71gbazlec1.png?width=523&format=png&auto=webp&s=ee5b4ea23edc3f753b3202499bea659722f8b99c
Just southwest of The First Dragon in the lizardy Chor (north of Zao), we get this old parchment with symbols
Chor
Which we decrypt into this language commonly referred to as ‘Ancient Language’ or ‘Demon Language’.

Ankrahmun
These symbols bear a striking resemblance to Jekhr which is very close by
Speaking underwater might sway the language over time
And the transcribed form bears a striking resemblance to ‘Ancient Language’ and Gharonk
Could this explain the stony goblin figures we find there?

Or how even the deeplings share some resemblence
Circling back to Krailos and our goblins - we find there are ancient ruins with a sarcophagus and some dragon ornaments.

https://preview.redd.it/x5epp1swwlec1.png?width=537&format=png&auto=webp&s=4e064164fb83e26f5428bc2941ea1a0eb88d89f1
Which reminds me of Ankrahmun… and the ‘Ancient Language’, ‘Mehrah asram’
IT’S ALL CONNECTED!1!
On another note, we can do some truly amazing things with this map. I've done extensive research on the ancient map & warlocks here
Also, we find these glyphs in the mad mage's room. 😀
https://preview.redd.it/cj0pa3akxlec1.png?width=1600&format=png&auto=webp&s=bd7836d89d459382e69d49f546459c9b2c2f7741

Back to goblins

Let’s continue with a short history of the goblins, it’s pretty interesting
https://preview.redd.it/3hu8az2qzlec1.png?width=493&format=png&auto=webp&s=0ded7ccc0c4ec04b95491d6f68de8c2c612db0f4
All hail hypnotoad!
https://preview.redd.it/unuv6bo90mec1.png?width=493&format=png&auto=webp&s=0ffb08446fe9a482bb77fb7d700e28318218069d
The goblin Sugatrap lived during a dark time while several ancient goblin clans were up and about. He got some vision from a Frog God which eventually led to a civilization in the mountains - which is now ruined by the ogres.
One unexpected keyword I found sheds some light on this city, how advanced they were.
https://preview.redd.it/pxnic9uc0mec1.png?width=493&format=png&auto=webp&s=3cf4953a020972b4be610b78c1c7a0f2297b8d9c
They had a library! This adds some kind of validity in what they say. Scholars. They must’ve had some record, knowledge, albeit likely fragmented and warped with time.
The goblins have interesting knowledge of how the land around us came to be, and segues into some of their other weird ‘gods’
A wriggling Fire Snake huh?
There’s some strange Fire Snake that the goblins dislike, and an event where Molten earth fell from the sky. Hmm..
In another interesting conversation with the Exile we learn goblins yearn for a Third Time of Peace.
https://preview.redd.it/o273q8vl0mec1.png?width=493&format=png&auto=webp&s=2f28a900b76e03a45121d9f77a327b7b906c2ff6
Implying we have passed the first peace, what happened at the border between the first and the second, current peace? How long ago was this?
And another Snake is mentioned. Now we have Fire Snake and Night Snake to deal with 🐍
What can we learn about the Night Snake?
Fighter of the Day Snake!
Champion of the sun!
This is an interesting kind of “God”, it hates earth and water - which could be a great reason why the goblins hid in the Wet Moist Mountains™.
It also reminds me of how some of the yalahari fled to watery underground Mistrock, Beregar under the threat of Variphor. And how we shouldn’t name Night Snake nor Variphor. And how they both act during the night.
And what is this Fire Snake? By the descriptions, it doesn’t seem to be an ordinary dragon we find in the mountains.
This is when another obscure keyword was found: obsidian
The only mention of the Second Age of Peace is found from obsidian
I interpret this as the start of the Second Age of Peace some thousand years ago when the Fire Snake went into hiding - implying that it hid somewhere other than land. And some other event happening.
When some giant cataclysmic event occurred.
Something about ‘cooled fall’ and ‘obsidian’ makes me think of the cataclysmic event called ‘Suon’s Wrath’ as described by Alyxo from Issavi.

Said cataclysmic event separated Issavi from Krailos.
Suon is a sun god, I’d imagine that the wrath was hot.
But there are more gods at play here.
See part 2. for some resolution and more riddles.

[Spanish > English] lyrics lost in (google) translation
There's a classic tune called "What A Diff'rence A Day Makes" (aka "What A Diff'rence A Day Made"), covered by many artists, in English, since originally being recorded in Spanish in 1934 (as "Cuando Vuelva A Tu Lado").
The English language versions have entirely different lyrics, not attempting translation of the original Spanish.
Some digging for the original Spanish lyrics led to a YouTube 'lyric video' of Eydie Gormé's 1964 Spanish version (linked), and text of lyrics from another Spanish version.
Putting those Spanish lyrics (below) through Google Translate yielded the English lyrics (also below), which- maybe unsurprisingly- seem clumsy, or perhaps inaccurate.
The 2 different sources below differ in at least 1 word: "dejaste" and "negaste", which Google translates individually as "you left" and "you denied". And where the lyrical content from the 2 Spanish versions is identical, Google returned slightly different translations.
Can anyone here accurately translate the Spanish lyrics below into English? I'm curious what is lost in translation by Google, and want to understand the nuance and sentiment of the Spanish as it would be naturally/colloquially expressed in English. With that information, one might attempt English language lyrics more closely resembling the original intent.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH in advance.
1964 Spanish lyrics:
CUANDO VUELVA A TU LADO NO ME NIEGUES TUS BESOS QUE EL AMOR QUE TE HE DADO NO PODRÁS OLVIDAR NO ME PREGUNTES NADA QUE NADA HE DE EXPLICARTE QUE EL BESO QUE DEJASTE YA NO LO PUEDES DAR CUANDO VUELVA A TU LADO Y ESTÉ SOLO CONTIGO LAS COSAS QUE TE DIGO NO REPITAS JAMÁS POR COMPASIÓN UNE TU LABIO AL MÍO Y ESTRÉCHAME EN TUS BRAZOS Y CUENTA LOS LATIDOS DE NUESTRO CORAZÓN
1964 Google Translated English:
WHEN I COME BACK TO YOUR SIDE DON'T DENY ME YOUR KISSES THAT THE LOVE I HAVE GIVEN TO YOU YOU CAN'T FORGET DON'T ASK ME ANYTHING THAT I HAVE NOTHING TO EXPLAIN TO YOU THAN THE KISS YOU LEFT YOU CANNOT GIVE IT ANYMORE WHEN I COME BACK TO YOUR SIDE AND BE ALONE WITH YOU THE THINGS I TELL YOU DON'T EVER REPEAT FOR COMPASSION JOIN YOUR LIP TO MINE AND HOLD ME IN YOUR ARMS AND COUNT THE BEATS FROM OUR HEART
Alternate version Google Translate English:
When I return to your side Don't deny me your kisses May the love that I have given you You won't be able to forget Don't ask me anything I have nothing to explain to you Than the kiss that you denied You can't give it anymore When I return to your side And be alone with you The things that I tell you Never repeat, out of compassion Join your lip to mine And hold me in your arms And count the beats from our hearts

Background

Sufjan Stevens is, to put it bluntly, likely the most important folk artist of the new millennium. To properly summarize him would take far longer than just a few paragraphs, so let’s be brief. For the past two decades, Stevens has tugged at our heartstrings and our spirits across a variety of sounds. Some people may prefer the sparse folk of 2004’s Seven Swans or 2015’s heartbreaking Carrie & Lowell. Others will know him from the ornately baroque Michigan (2003) and Illinois (2005), part of a Fifty States Project that, depending on who you ask, was either canceled or just a bit the whole time. For what it’s worth, my favorite is 2010’s The Age of Adz, a chaotic and glitchy existential crisis. The point is that two Sufjan Stevens projects rarely sound alike, but you can find threads connecting them all: love, belonging, and - yes - God.
Javelin, Stevens’ latest, was announced on August 14 with the release of “So You Are Tired”, followed by “Will Anybody Ever Love Me?'' nearly a month later. A week after that, on September 20, Stevens revealed he had been hospitalized and diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome, an autoimmune disorder where the body attacks its nerves, leading to numbness, weakness, and potential paralysis. The occasionally hermitish Stevens spent the next few weeks providing regular updates on his personal blog (the archives of which I cannot recommend enough) before announcing he was officially discharged and headed to outpatient care on October 5, the day before Javelin’s release. He has only made two posts since, one being a “room for rent” sign on his former hospital room.
The second was Javelin’s release announcement. In it, Stevens dedicates the release to his partner, Evans Richardson, who sadly passed away in April of this year. This was not only the first time Stevens mentioned his relationship, but also his public coming out; the private singer avoided the topic over the years. For many of his fans, this gay one included, the pain of the loss and the light of the love resonated in a complex and profound way. Of course, more on that later. For now, the final words of the announcement, from Sufjan Stevens himself:
Live every day as if it is your last, with fullness and grace, with reverence and love, with gratitude and joy. This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Thank you. I love you. XOS

Writing by danitykane

I.
In the same breath he stretched his loving arms
but could not seize him, no, the ghost slipped underground
like a wisp of smoke… with a high thin cry.
And Achilles sprang up with a start and starting wide,
drove his fists together and cried in desolation, “Ah god!
So even in Death’s strong house there is something left…”
The Iliad, 1991 translation by Robert Fagles
What could be left after death? Life and death are inseparable, intertwined. This rather inconvenient reality catches us all, sooner or later, but humans remain a tricky bunch. The advent of civilization millenia ago allowed for societies that (nominally) protect people from their ultimate demise through food, safety, and shelter. This rather elementary description isn’t supposed to be a revelation, but rather just one of several ways we’ve fought back against the reaper. After all, if true immortality cannot be achieved - if we are destined to lose, the eternal underdogs in the Game of Life - what hope is there? That is a question with a more difficult answer.
To paraphrase something commonly attributed to Ernest Hemingway (which, after searching, I am beginning to believe is apocryphal) - we truly die when we are forgotten by those still here. If we can create something that outlasts us, then perhaps all of this will have been worth it. It’s easy to apply this to the artist’s life. Can we truly say that Homer or da Vinci are dead, when we’re still discussing their creations? Does their spirit not live on every time a ninth grader reads The Odyssey or a flock of tourists peers at the Mona Lisa through bulletproof glass? A religious person might say that creation is what we share with God, and therefore it is through creation that we can steal a piece of immortality for our own. That’s all well and good for artists whose work does endure, but what about the rest of us? What about the parts of Homer that aren’t his two epic poems? Is it all doomed to eternal oblivion?
Almost certainly. Merry Christmas everyone!
To be real though: we do create all the time, even those who are not artists or artisans. We build relationships with each other, imprinting little pieces of ourselves into those around us and those that will come after us. If ever there was an antidote to Death, it would be those relationships. It would be Love.
The Ancient Greeks had several concepts that modern English groups under the umbrella term of love. You’ve got eros, the sensual and romantic love you may find in a couple. There’s philia, the love between friends. Storge is parental and instinctual love. And agape is an all-encompassing, divine love that is used more in Christian contexts than Ancient Greek ones, but whose origins nevertheless date to the early Iron Age. Love in all its shades color our lives, giving us the tools to create something out of the space between two people.
Here is where our heroes enter. You probably know the gist of the story of Achilles, but here’s a quick rundown. The demigod was born to the Nereid Thetis and Peleus, a human king. He was the greatest and strongest warrior fighting for the Achaens in the Trojan War, where he was ultimately slain shortly before the war’s end. If you know anything about him, it’s that as an infant Achilles was dipped in the river Styx, rendering him immortal everywhere except the heel by which he was held, leading to his death by an arrow. (That’s actually a post-Homer development, but it’s essentially “canon” now.)
The Trojan War was a decade of brutal siege warfare, and Achilles was the most accomplished soldier of them all. There’s very little literature concerned with most of the War; Homer’s Iliad, the most famous telling of the Trojan War, focuses on just a few days during the war’s final year. Achilles spends most of the Iliad pouting - Agamemnon, the commander of the Achaens, has taken Briseis, his slave won in battle, as his own. Unswayed by offers of riches in her place or pleas to help his comrades-in-arms, Achilles sits in his tent and refuses to fight. Without Achilles or his Myrmidons, the Achaens suffer heavy losses at the hands of the Trojans, being pushed back into their ships. It’s at this point Patroclus puts on Achilles’s armor. Whoa, zoom out. Okay. Who is Patroclus?
As a boy, Patroclus was sent to serve in the court of King Peleus, punishment for killing a playmate during a game. It was there he formed a relationship with Achilles. As the older boy, Patroclus lent his wisdom and calmer demeanor to the brash and overconfident Achilles. After the outbreak of the Trojan War, Achilles and Patroclus share a tent. At one point, they’re caught alone, Achilles singing to Patroclus. The two may have women in their lives, (who they’re sleeping with in the same tent, mind you), but it’s beyond obvious that Achilles and Patroclus consider each other the most important person in the world.
So - were they gay? That’s actually not a particularly illuminating question. The identity of a “gay person” as we know it today is a relatively modern phenomenon. Does that mean that Big Gay is feeding us propaganda about Achilles and Patroclus or even real people like Alexander the Great and Hephaestion?
Well, no. Homosexual behavior is a lot older than the homosexual identity, being seen throughout both the natural world and human history. In fact, the Ancient Greeks themselves essentially codified homosexual activity between men over 2000 years ago. (Homosexual activity between women in Ancient Greece is supported historically, but it did not receive the same social standing that it did with men.) The system is referred to as “pederasty”, but it should be noted that the modern usage of the word implies abuse that is not implied in its discussion re: Ancient Greece. To avoid comparisons, I will not be referring to it as “pederasty” further - our epic heroes are both grown men. It is important to remember that modern sensibilities do not graft so well onto ancient societies, for better or worse.
In Ancient Greek society, sex between two men could be a way to build comradery, it could be a way for an older man to mentor a younger one, or it could be a relationship closer to those between a man and his wife. Each one of those is guided by love as the Greeks understood it, and so the roles each man played in the relationship were given a lovely name derived from eros. The erastes was usually older, wealthier, and more masculine - he would be the penetrative partner in anal sex. The eromenos was younger, softer, and the receptive partner. (It is devastating to realize the Ancient Greeks had already anticipated “tops: do you pay for your bottom’s dinner?” prompt Tweets.) Once the eromenos was an established man, capable of growing his own beard, it would be expected that he would become an erastes - a fully-grown man being penetrated was taboo. Both men were still expected to take wives and father children.
So… Achilles and Patroclus… were they… you know, “derived from eros”? Homer himself never mentioned it directly in the Iliad, but some major shakers in Ancient Greek society sure thought so. The playwright Aeschylus wrote a now-lost play in which Achilles openly refers to sex with Patroclus. Plato argues in the Symposium that they were lovers, with Phaedrus going as far as to say their love is an example for how to properly love. (Fun fact: the Symposium ends with a man stumbling into the gathering and admitting how much he’s always wanted to fuck Socrates.) As a certified gay, this is certainly enough for me to conclude that Achilles and Patroclus were in love romantically and sexually. Need some more proof? Well, let’s hop back into the Iliad.
Patroclus dons Achilles’ armor, figuring that Fauxchilles is better than Nochilles. When he takes to the battlefield, he inspires the Achaens and instills terror in the Trojans, who think Achilles has returned. His plan appears to be successful, until the god Apollo intervenes, confusing Patroclus long enough for him to be killed by Hector, Troy’s greatest warrior. When news finally reaches Achilles, he throws himself to the ground, covering his body in ashes and tearing out his hair. His first immediate request is to die himself, drowned in sorrow. That sorrow quickly turns into an unstoppable rage.
In an attempt to settle the score, Achilles kills so many Trojans that their corpses dam the river Scamander. When the river god objects, Achilles fights him as well. He eventually finds his target - Hector, the man who fell his beloved. Hector is formidable, but, as you can see in this documentary, no match for a man who’s lost his love. Achilles does not agree to uphold a traditional funeral for the loser of the battle. Hector falls and is taken into Achilles’s custody.
If you expected killing Hector to fill the hole that losing Patroclus left in Achilles, you’d be wrong. So the grieving demigod ties Hector’s body to the back of a chariot and drags it through the terrain around Troy - for days. His need for revenge has become single-minded, even to his lover’s detriment. You see, Patroclus’s body has also not gone through the necessary funeral rites. Achilles cannot see through his grief to realize he’s become selfish. It’s not until Patroclus appears to him in spirit, a genuflecting ghost, to appeal to Achilles to allow him to pass into the underworld. Achilles finally relents, and the two agree to inter their bones in a single urn.
After the funeral for Patroclus, Achilles continues to defile Hector’s body. Hector’s father, the Trojan King Priam, must beg directly for his son’s body. It’s at this point, right at the end, that Achilles realizes the magnitude of the loss. The two men openly weep over their fallen loved ones. Achilles allows Priam to leave with Hector’s body, promising the Trojans 12 days to grieve. The Iliad ends as the Trojans bury Hector and Achilles sets his sights forward, renewed and ready to fight until his own death.
Nearly three thousand years ago, the story of these two men who loved each other inspired warriors and poets. That even the Ancient Greeks disagreed on who in the relationship was the erastes and who was the eromenos speaks to a more complex understanding of how men could love each other. Aeschylus thought that Achilles, the stronger warrior compelled to seek revenge for his lover’s death, was erastes. Plato argued that as the older, calmer, and wiser of the two, Patroclus was erastes, mentoring Achilles on how to be a good man. Perhaps there’s a third interpretation: through their love, the two men learned from each other. Patroclus became bolder and Achilles more tender.
Three millennia ago, it was understood, at least by some, that two men could experience the kind of love that paralyzes you, that rips you apart at the seams when you lose it. Achilles’ journey in the Iliad is less about his K/D ratio and more about this near-invincible warrior finally feeling pain. He thought he had felt it before - when Briseis was taken from him, when the Achaens would pester him about rejoining the fight. But it was only through love, through eros, that he was finally wounded. And it was only through loss that this impossibly strong warrior found that his true strength was not in how he handled his javelin, but how he handled himself. Love as life, as weapon, and as battlefield.

I actually don’t hear it as a gay thing. To me it’s all about fraternal affection. He is reminiscing about a childhood holiday with his brother, and about how they oscillated between playing and fighting… All the stuff about kissing and being in love feels more metaphorical.
Genius user Chem4lyf on “The Predatory Wasps of the Palisades are Out to Get Us!” by Sufjan Stevens
Is Sufjan Stevens Gay, Married, or Christian?
Spambot-written article I quote regularly in my life
The homosexuals do not hold a monopoly on tenderness, but something about Sufjan always felt like he was singing to us. The question of whether the subject of a song is a “he” or a “He” seemed less integral than how pure the love seemed. Of course, it didn’t hurt that the ambiguity gave us something to latch onto. Calling Sufjan’s sexuality an “open secret” I think does it a disservice, as nothing in his music feels guarded or locked away. There are ways for one man to express love for another man without saying “I’m gay”, after all, and they’ve always been there.
In the hours immediately after Sufjan posted his tribute to Evans, gay people were in a tizzy. Well, the ones I know, anyway. I think we were all ready for a good cry and a day ruined by sad thoughts. Would this be the same grief-laden Sufjan we saw on Carrie & Lowell? Would, perhaps, this be Sufjan’s A Crow Looked At Me? Leave it to Sufjan Stevens to zag when we think he’s going to zig, giving us maybe the most optimistic album in history about the tragedy of losing the love of your life. It’s sad, don’t get me wrong, but the sadness is just one thread tying all of it together. With Javelin, Sufjan pulls together a mosaic of his entire life and musical career, creating an album of pain and delight, of sorrow and joy.

III.
Ah, when to the heart of man
Was it ever less than a treason
To go with the drift of things,
To yield with a grace to reason,
And bow and accept the end
Of a love or a season?
Robert Frost, “Reluctance”
Like the Iliad, Javelin begins in media res. The very first word of the album is “goodbye”. Somber piano supports Sufjan as he invokes his muse, his “Evergreen” and simultaneously mourns his loss. The song teases an Age of Adz-style emotional breakdown, Sufjan unable to see past his grief as his world slips out from underneath it. He’s “drowning”, he’s “a cancer”. Then, as if pulling on those same strings, the song switches into a cacophony of beeps and boops as Sufjan and his chorus chant the song and the pain away. This time, the chant is not “there’s too much riding on that”, but “you know I love you” - it certainly sounds less paranoid, anyway.
Javelin might seem to be an album about a specific loss, but it’s just as much about contextualizing the loss in his life. The Sufjan that lost his partner is the same one that lost his friend on Casimir Pulaski Day and lost his mother just over a decade ago To that end, the album is dense with musical and lyrical references from across his discography. The album cover even calls to mind the (tad overlooked) All Delighted People EP. Reflecting the album’s content, the cover speaks to a life made up not just oneself, but everyone in one’s life - a solar system of memories and emotions in orbit. The collage includes several Sufjans, both Dessners, and even Beyoncé, as an astute member of her subreddit noticed. (Sufjan, it should be noted, is a fan.)
And, of course, there is Evans. Towards the front half of Javelin, all Sufjan can do is feel the loss of his love, so he tries to live inside it. There’s not just the drowning of “Goodbye Evergreen”, but the pleas for his lover to stay in “A Running Start”. Submerged in the emptiness, he asks a simple question: “Will Anybody Ever Love Me?”. The song, quite possibly the most devastating song in a discography full of them, feels like rock bottom for Sufjan. He beseeches the universe to take him, to send his body down the river, to burn it - anything to stop feeling the loneliness.
How very Achilles of him. When the hero faces the death of his lover, he cannot eat or sleep. He covers himself in dirt and pulls out his hair, a cultural funerary practice of the time. Sufjan, his heart ablaze, asks only to become a human sacrifice whose death might benefit the world.
Achilles filled a river with blood and could not fill the emptiness inside. Slightly more realistically, Sufjan Stevens starts at begging. In “Everything that Rises”, he asks for something new - for Christ to lift him out of his hell. He shares a title, once again, with a Flannery O’Connor story but is likely referring this time to the same phrase O’Connor pulled from: a work by French priest Pierre Teilhard de Chardin that suggested the universe was evolving into a single God consciousness. That it shares the feel of an unheard Seven Swans song and a title scheme with an existing one is another thread tying the Sufjan Stevens in grief with the same one that sang these songs 20 years ago.
God works in mysterious ways, or so it seems, so Sufjan instead seeks solace in his lover. “Genuflecting Ghost” may as well be an adaptation of the conversation Achilles has with the ghost of Patroclus in his tent. Sufjan at first asks the ghost to return to the normal days, settling for the bad ones, before he’s hit with a realization - there’s still time. He’s spent these first few songs mourning the loss before it’s happened. Like Achilles, Sufjan realizes there’s still a duty he has to uphold for his lover. For Achilles, it’s the twelve days of funeral games and rites that he finally holds in Patroclus’ honor. For Sufjan, it’s love.
You see, partway through “Genuflecting Ghost”, Sufjan stops asking the titular ghost for anything at all, choosing instead to live fully through what time they have left.
Now we dance in our catastrophe
Ramparts in the sky that flash with horror
Let’s take these chances - no more amnesty
Nothing else remains as once before
Sufjan Stevens has always imbued his music with a complex sense of love. The love for a partner and for a tree are possible with the same person. In fact, Sufjan frequently alludes to them being the same exact love. Eros is philia is storge. This should immediately strike a reader as being a very religious idea, to which I would say, “Did you forget we’re talking about Sufjan Stevens?” Even at his most overtly Christian, Sufjan’s idea of love is a unifying one. It’s agape.
The concept, which I glossed over earlier, is a central part of Javelin. Agape, to put it broadly, is the type of love between god and man. It’s a unifying, selfless love that manifests in loving each other and the world around you. For Sufjan, it’s almost as if it is blood itself. In “My Red Little Fox” Sufjan waltzes across a tender moment spent facing the abyss, singing
Kiss me like the wind
That flows within your veins
This kiss and the love it represents is a reflection of the natural world. It can burn with the fire of gods. In his love, Sufjan sees the divine in its true form. “Is this Sufjan Stevens song gay or about God?” was always a false dichotomy; in true Sufjan form, the answer has always been both, for a reason that seems self-evident to him and we may need more help to understand: all love comes from the same place. This isn’t even religious - I am very much an atheist - but who can deny love? When I feel fondness for the squirrel that lives in my yard, is that not the same awestruck wonder that finds me tracing my lover’s back with my fingers when we lay in bed together?
Face it - love is powerful! (That’s why I always choose Aphrodite’s boons in Hades.) Sufjan spends the middle of the record rediscovering his love before it faces its most demanding test: finally saying goodbye. In “Goodbye Evergreen”, Sufjan battles his self-doubts about being able to say those words. When he approaches the topic again, in “So You Are Tired”, he’s a different man. As a single, the song was devastating and sad. What makes it more crushing is that the context of Javelin reveals it to be full of grace. Faced with the end, Sufjan allows the star of his life to dim out. There’s no more clinging, no fear of losing the love with the life. Instead, he tells his lover:
So rest your head
Turning back all that we had in our life
While I return to death
This song, this moment right here, is why I truly think Javelin is an optimistic album. While he was at risk of losing it all, Sufjan finds a way to live by bringing his love with him. This mirrors Achilles’ renewed purpose at the end of the Trojan War. When Achilles promises King Priam his son’s body, he reflects on grief and its role in life, telling him the story of Niobe, who fasted for too long after the gods killed her children and wasted away until she became a stone. Achilles, seeing in Priam the emptiness of grief that he also knows too well, tells him:
So come — we too, old king, must think of food.
Later you can mourn your beloved son once more,
when you bear him home to Troy, and you'll weep many tears.
Niobe’s pain, while very real, prevented her from living her own life, and so she forfeited it. Achilles wants the same thing for himself and for Priam: to avoid that fate and meet their own in their own time. (Because this is Ancient Greece, that was not long - Achilles died just a few days after fighting resumed, and Priam was killed by Achilles’ son Neoptolemus during the Sack of Troy). Sufjan himself references Niobe’s tragic fate in “The Kiss of Niobe”, a B-side exclusive to copies of Javelin from Rough Trade, offering her solace to help ease her sorrow. As for himself, he now, like Achilles, returns to face life head-on.
I will always love you
He sings on “Shit Talk”,
But I cannot live with you
The song, a real stunner amongst diamonds, is where Sufjan, over eight and a half minutes, reconciles his love, his grief, his fear, and his joy. While the title is maybe a bit sassy, there’s no bite or scathe to his lyrics, just a sense of honesty. Sufjan, backed by the five-piece chorus that’s been with him throughout the album, eventually turns to chanting his undying love, promising not to bring pain and grief to the party alone. The song fades out piece by piece, just as it was built: the strings go, then the horns, and finally it’s just Sufjan Stevens, a man in mourning, singing wordlessly.
“Shit Talk” doesn’t end the album - that honor belongs to a beautifully stripped-down rendition of Neil Young’s “There’s a World” - but it feels like the end of this step of the journey. Similarly, Homer never tells the story of Achilles’ death, choosing to end the story as the Trojans bury Hector. That’s because this wasn’t a story about how the Trojan Horse won the war or how Paris kills Achilles with an arrow - it was a story about a hero suffering the unthinkable and coming out of it wounded but markedly more human. Its purpose was to inspire people to love big and never run from their fights.
Sufjan may not have intended any of Javelin to graft onto the Iliad, but it’s all my mind could go when listening to it. His lyrics, sometimes dense and poetic and other times deceptively simple, seem to point to a lot of the same themes. And, much like I did when I first read Homer in high school, I realized I saw something of myself in it. I have loved Sufjan Stevens dearly since, coincidentally, about the time I was reading the Iliad in school, and there’s no question that his lyrics aren’t just about “being ‘derived from eros’”. There’s also no doubt that, as a gay man who loves another man so deeply, seeing him go through one of my biggest fears adds something to the experience.
The first question I asked in this piece: what could be left after death? Achilles was speaking somewhat of the spirit of Patroclus attempting to enter the underworld, but I think there’s more to it. Because here’s the thing about death… Yeah, it’s a bummer, and that’s why we fight back against it. Some of us make art, some of us have children. In one way or another, all of us love. The end of a life does not rescind love that has already been loved. That love is how we leave a mark that others will remember after we’re gone. And this album is full of things to remember. The moments that recall prior songs, the collage album cover… it’s all in service of agape, the all-connecting love.
I ask a lot of questions. “What would I do without you?” is a question I ask myself daily when my husband, the love of my life, makes me laugh or feel loved. It’s a question I don’t want to know the answer to. Sufjan Stevens, who has made us all feel so strongly all these years, now has the answer. And what does he do? He creates Javelin and shares it with us. Its beauty and intimacy feel like a gift, another act of love from its biggest champion. We’ve now shared in the love he thought he may lose, and instead of diluting it, it feels so big and overwhelmingly beautiful that nothing could change it.
We, of course, don’t know how Sufjan’s story is going to continue because these wounds are still fresh. But even if it ends tomorrow, we’re left with a remarkable album that asks us to never let life - or death - get in the way of love.

  • Sufjan loves referencing mythology in his music. What other parallels exist in Javelin? I am hardly an expert.
  • As someone who’s not religious, Sufjan’s Christianity has always fascinated me because it doesn’t feel or sound like the Christianity that I met in my formative years. I’d love to hear a few words from believers reading this: how has his continued use of Christian themes on Javelin exists in conversation with your beliefs?
  • Do you agree with me that this is ultimately an optimistic album?
  • Genius user Chem4lyf could not be reached for comment.

2023.11.24 23:49 thatreallyshortchick Welcome to Charlie's: Now Hiring, Robots Wanted

Part 8

Daisy closed the thick binder that laid on the desk before her. Random scraps of paper and sticky notes jutted out of its edges, and it was clear it was close to overflowing. “So, that’s the rule book you made?” she asked.
I nodded. “It’s everything I’ve learned while working here.”
She gave me a smile as she said, “You seem like a very organized person.”
I shrugged. “Well, all I really did was color code everything to know what to avoid. So like 80% color coding, 20% luck, aaaaand 0% skill or mental stability.”
“Well, I think it’s brilliant,” she said with a smile. It was the first genuine smile I had seen her give since she’s been here. I couldn’t help but smile back, making her look away. Her cheeks reddened a bit as she cleared her throat. “Can you show me how to decipher the inventory books? It doesn’t make any sense to me.”
“Oh, yeah,” I said, ignoring the awkwardness in her voice. “The shelves actually handle those, and they don’t speak fluent English. I’ll show you the dictionary we use to translate. It’s honestly not hard to learn, though.” I typed the name of the dictionary into the search bar on our office computer, but I could still feel her staring at me. I locked eyes with her once more, and she was smiling again.
“You have nice eyes,” she said.
Now it was my turn for a blush to creep onto my cheeks.
“Uh…we’re still dating.”
“Shit!” I said while jumping. Lacie was scowling at us from the doorway with her arms crossed. “You scared the hell out of me!”
“That doesn’t mean his eyes aren’t nice,” snapped back Daisy.
Lacie ignored her, placed some paperwork on the desk beside the keyboard, and walked out. I could practically see steam billowing out of her ears as she did, but I said nothing. Things were still kind of awkward between us.
“Can I talk to you for a second about some logistics issues?” Daisy asked.
“Sure,” I responded.
“The frozen turkeys are on the loose,” she stated.
“Tell the wizard.”
She nodded. “The drink fountains in the Witch’s Brew are dispensing blood.”
“Make it a new menu item.”
“A customer named Arnold has stolen several rubber chickens and hidden somewhere in the store.”
“He does that every Tuesday. I’ve been meaning to ask Gabe to handle all the shoplifting because he can stay undetected.”
“I’ll let him know,” she said while jotting it down on her clipboard. “The vending machine is eating people’s hands.”
I shrugged. “Let it eat ‘til it’s full.”
“Maura has talked the shelves into not listening to me.” Her voice had taken on a strange, blank tone that made me pause my task. The second I locked eyes with her, an intense anger bubbled up within me.
“We’ll have to do something about that,” I said as I shoved my chair nearly back into the wall to stand up. I exited the office and marched in the direction of the closest shelf. Finding the cause of this anger was in the back of my mind at the moment as the shelves, specifically aisle 8, had my undivided attention.
“Hey, man!” said Acid Dude as a greeting. I heard another voice, but I paid both of them no mind. I aimed an accusatory pointer finger in the direction of aisle 8 and kept on trucking. “Look here, you rusted, second-hand-find piece of—-“
My breath caught in my throat as an intense chill overcame my body. I let out a gasp before toppling to the floor.
“What the hell, man?” yelled that same voice. The anger-fueled tunnel vision had left, and I realized that Gabe was the voice screaming at me. “You walked right through me!”
“W-what?” I asked. I couldn’t stop shivering even though the cold sensation had disappeared.
“You were *inside* me,” clarified Gabe.
Daisy scurried into my field of vision, causing that same fiery-hot anger to come back. “Well, move the hell out of my way then!” I yelled. I tried to get up, but he wouldn’t let me. He looked absolutely baffled as he fought to keep me down.
Daisy attempted to help me, but Acid Dude started slapping her hands away while yelling, “Viper, no swiping!”
“Stay away from him!” Gabe yelled as he began to drag me away from Daisy. Without thinking, he wrapped me up in a bear hug, and that same icy cold chill came back. My fight-or-flight response was worn out by this point. The last thing I remember before passing out was Gabe saying, “Oops.”
-
‘Sup, guys. Gabe here with another stellar Charlie’s entry from beyond the grave. Well, actually, from beyond the hellacious realm of retail.
One plus side of my paranormalcy was I am extra stealthy. I’m like a see-through ninja. That’s why I wasn’t shocked when Daisy pulled me aside to offer me a Gabe-specific role. She said Ursula had noticed my ninja-like qualities and decided to give me a specific job: theft detection.
I didn’t expect my first theft buster shift to be fruitful, but I spotted someone acting suspiciously in five minutes or less. I began to trail her as she made her way through the store. She took her dear sweet time in the beauty section, spritzing perfume on her wrists, throat, and behind her ears. She made a pit stop at the lipglosses, tucking 2 in her pocket before whipping around to sniff our lotion options. I let her get a few good whiffs in before I phased into sight. I cleared my throat to alert her of my presence, which made her drop two bath bombs. We watched them roll under the shelves before she made eye contact with me, and I gasped before I could stop myself. Her cheeks were plump and like…bumpy.
“Are you okay, ma’am?” I asked with genuine concern.
Three bottles of nail polish tumbled out of her mouth as she responded. “Yeah.” I could tell by her speaking that her mouth was still very full. The bottles cracked when they hit the floor, and their three different shades of pink began spreading across the floor.
I didn’t know what to do, so I just nodded nervously. I hadn’t even expected to get this far so soon. The woman continued her theft spree as if I hadn’t seen her. Honestly, I wanted to pretend like I hadn’t seen her. Whatever was happening was traumatizing enough to watch, and I didn’t really want to see what else she had in her mouth. However, I also didn’t want to take the chance of Ursula firing me over not reporting the theft. I’m pretty sure she would have my spirit banished from the store, and I’m kinda scared to find out what’s after this, dude. I was an asshole.
So I chose to follow the woman, and boy was it a wild ride. I didn’t know a mouth could fit so much. She looked so…human, but there’s no way she was. A human mouth can not fit a 10-ounce bottle of lotion, 3 oranges, a 4x7 picture frame, a 12-pack of canned sodas, a porcelain doll, two medium-sized floor-length floral print dresses, a bottle of cologne, and an unknown number of nail polish bottles in their mouth. Well, at least not comfortably. And that’s only the stuff I actually saw her put in there. I couldn’t get past the soggy dresses, either.
Probably the most shocking thing about this whole encounter was what happened at the end, though. A few more minutes into me following her around, her eyes lit up like July Fourth fireworks. She quickly unzipped her purse, opened her practically overflowing mouth, and let the contents tumble into the bag. She picked a lipstick out of the slobbery hoard and applied the plum shade to her lips. She plumped her hair a bit before I noticed the reason for her dolling up: Gary.
“Gary has a girlfriend?” I couldn’t help but say.
Gary began to trip over his words as he walked towards us. “Uh…uh, Gary—-“
“You never told us, Gare-ster!”
The lady gave him a huge grin. A small streak of plum could be seen on her right front tooth. “I got you a present, honey!” She whipped the cologne bottle out of her bag, making my eyes narrow and Gary’s widen, both surprised in our own way.
“Gary loves it!” he exclaimed.
“You’ve gotta pay for that,” I said, which got me a scowl from her.
“I was planning to,” she snapped.
“All of it?” I asked. She gave me an intimidating look, but I stood my ground. She may have been wearing a gaudy bright pink dress with some red heels, but this was not a video game, I would not be another thing she inhaled in her gaping maw.
“Mary has stealing problem, but Mary still nice,” he said while giving me a nervous smile. “Gary want friends to like her.”
I gave him a reassuring nod. “I’m sure we will, buddy.”
He nodded back at me. “Gary has to get going,” he said before giving her plum lips a kiss and heading off toward the deli.
“I’m gonna marry him one day,” she told me before spitting out a huge 10-karat gold ring and showing it to me.
I nodded. “Well, make sure you swallow your wedding decorations at another department store, please.”
I personally escorted Mary to check out, but I did let her use my store discount. I pointed out who everyone was, but I didn’t introduce her. I think my introduction wasn’t exactly according to Gary’s plan today, and I’m sure he will let her meet every one in due time.
I’m kind of intrigued to see what she’ll have stolen next time. I wonder if she could fit a full wedding ball gown in there…
-
I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it before, but the shelves have the ability to stock themselves. However, (and don’t tell them I told you guys this) since the store expanded and we’ve gained more customers, it has been hard for them to keep up with the demand. Due to this. Ursula hired overnight stockers. They have done a wonderful job keeping up with the demand, and, though they’d never admit it, the shelves were grateful.
Overnights were rather strange here at Charlie’s. Luckily, I never had to deal with them. Our less fortunate (And frankly, trapped…Ahem, Gabe.) workers weren’t as lucky, but, one night, Lacie also had bad luck. We were seriously understaffed during some holiday that I don’t even remember…they all kind of run together. Anyways, we had a huge sale the next day, so Lacie came in to help. Plus, she wanted a little overtime money. We were planning on finding our own place back then. Now, I’m not so sure…Here’s Lacie, though.
“Lacie, you’re needed in the hygiene section,” said a monotone voice over the intercom.
I sighed as I stood up from the floor, dusted off my bell bottom jeans, and headed in that direction. When I made it, the first thing I saw was 2 overnight stockers on the shampoo aisle. They worked in methodical silence, quickly putting items away in their respective places. Each had their own cart, and both carts were organized in a certain way that went over my head. What confused me was that they would periodically swap carts and work whatever was on them as if they were their own carts. How they knew what was what also went over my head. And then I saw one hold up a box to the other before quickly putting it back down. No speaking occurred, yet it felt like communication had happened. And then they swapped carts again, not even skipping a beat.
Freaky, I thought.
“What’s freaky is you stopping to stare at us,” they both said simultaneously. They didn’t even look up from their carts. They ust kept operating like a well-oiled machine.
“Uhhh…did you guys need my help with anything?”
This made them both stop, and they both placed the box they were holding onto opposite hips: one put hers on her left hip and the other on her right. “No, we just called you over here to gawk at us,” they said, their voices dripping with sarcasm.
“We needed you to unlock the cases so we can put away the products that go in them,” explained one.
“Apparently, they find us more likely to steal condoms and potions than you, so we don’t get our own set of keys,” said the other.
“They have potions over here?” I asked.
“Just the Essence Of Life,” they responded in unison.
“The Essence of Life?” I repeated.
They each held up identical oval-shaped bottles. I couldn’t tell if they were actually dingy or just made to look unnecessarily ominous. Along with its neon purple glow, it contained spirals of smoky beings that flowed around in their glass confines. Each of them had hauntingly deep set-eye sockets. and gaping voids for mouths. Their expressions were hungry, longing, and agony-filled. If I could hear them, I knew they’d be moaning.
The bottles freaked me out, so I unlocked the case as quickly as possible. As the glass door opened, a cold breeze escaped it, sending shivers across my body. I could hear the workers snickering behind me, murmuring things that were clearly how they felt about me, and it pissed me off.
Before leaving, I noticed there were 3 large pallets left. “Chop, chop,” I ordered. “You guys have a lot left to stock, so speed it up.”
The worker—
“Hold up, Lacie wouldn’t say that,” said Jamie, Lacie’s actress.
“I agree with Jamie,” said Janet, the actress behind Sheryl. “Lacie is too much of a sweetheart.
“But this is a flashback, remember? Everyone’s actions are being affected by the succ–” began Archer before a look of worry came over his face. He locked eyes with the security camera in the corner of the room and mouthed, “Sorry, Ash.”
Janet shook her head at him as if pitying a child who didn’t know better. How ironic.
“By the way, Jan, where’s Chip?” Jamie asked.
Janet’s eyes went wide. “I forgot to take him off his charging dock for the meeting.” She hurried off to go fetch him, leaving the others behind.
Archer tsked her departure, and Jamie gave their dislike for each other an annoyed sigh.
“Anyways, when she gets back, we can discuss the elephant in the room,” she said.
Archer assumed she meant he and Janet’s ongoing kerfuffle, which made him raise his eyebrows and nod his head in the direction she had gone.
Jamie waved a dismissive hand. “Oh, you two need to get over yourself. I’m talking about the next chapter!”
She held up the script so he could see. The title of the next Chapter read “Chip Jr. Teaches the Shapeshifting Daycare Kids Kung Fu.”
“Does Ash not realize the amount of training it’ll take that little dude to even fake being a kung fu artist? I mean does she even think about—”
Archer sighed as he phased out Jamie’s rants, and he gave the security camera a knowing wink.
-
Bang!
I shot upward so quickly that the office chair fell backward. The several hand-made-by-Sheryl quilts covering me cushioned my fall, but not by much. My hand shot up to cover the painfully bright fluroscent lights, and Ursula came into focus.
“Oops,” she said after I had landed, placing the end of her sound-inducing hand-carved wooden walking stick back on the floor. My pain didn’t let her skip a beat, though. “Jared, darling, could you let everyone know we are about to have a mandatory meeting?”
I grumbled something close to “sure” before relaying the message over our radios. Well, I tried to relay it over the computer’s mouse first, but the second time was a charm.
She huddled us into the break room, and the tension was so thick Gary could have cut it up for his daily special. If the meeting wasn’t mandatory, I would have walked out again. I actually got heavily fussed at for walking out the last time.
“Hi, my little daffodil,” Ursula told her daughter in a sing-song voice.
“Actually, her name is Daisy,” said Sheryl in her usual state of oblivion.
Ursula picked up a magazine off one of the break tables, rolled it up, and swatted Sheryl’s head with it. “Bad girl. You only speak when spoken to.” She swatted her again for good measure, and Sheryl’s brows knitted together in sorrow. Ursula seemed satisfied, so she placed the magazine back where she had gotten it from before making her way to the front of the room.
She cleared her throat. “Okay, let’s begin. I know you guys have become a mish-mash of components due to a lack of proper management,” Ursula began. Sheryl whooped. It was ignored. “You guys have really shown resistance and courage through all obstacles, big or small, and I find that astonishing. I hope to incorporate that bravado in future stores. One day, there will be a Charlie’s in every town, and, someday, every country!”
“Yay!” Cheered Sheryl. “I wanna go to Cancun!”
Ursula scowled at her, so Sheryl slouched in her seat as if awaiting another scolding. However, after a moment, Ursula’s smile returned. It gave me the impression that she felt Sheryl was now a well-trailed dog.
“There’s only one thing we need to accomplish to initiate this takeover,” she continued. “It seems the future of corporations within our world lies within technology, something that Charlie’s has been lacking in. I’ve also noticed a major struggle in the ability of Charlie’s employees to stay alive. While you bunch have stayed alive and have even managed to reanimate—-“
Her eyes landed on Gabe, giving him a strange look.
“—-Many deaths still happen on the property. They are just never brought up or acknowledged for some weird reason. In fact, you bunch are the only ones with employment records, like you are the only ones that matter or something. I mean, even the gnome has a file…”
There were a few moments of awkward silence before she continued. “Anyways, with all of that being considered, we’ve decided to switch our current method of operations to a more…technologically friendly route.”
“Can you cut the filler and just say it?” said Lacie.
Ursula made a point to scowl at her for a few seconds before responding. “Yes, I was getting to that,” she said before clearing her throat again. “Keep in mind that I say this with immense sadness in my heart…” She paused to give a dramatic sigh. “Except for Chip and Gabe, you are all fired.”
Lacie sat straight up in her chair. “Excuse me?”
“Chip will get to stay because of his technological strengths. He will be a great asset for Charlie’s,” explained Ursula. “And Gabe will stay because he seems invincible to this place, which might come in handy.”
“B-but…no one else gets to stay?” asked Sheryl.
“Actually,” began Daisy as she looked up from her clipboard. “I was hoping Jared would stay.” She gave me a smile. “The offer is most definitely on the table if you’d want to take it.”
Lacie stood up from her chair so fast that it clattered backward. “This blood-sucking bitch is not going to take my boyfriend!”
My eyes widened. “What the hell has gotten into you?” I yelled at Lacie.
“How do you not see what they are doing to us?” She said, fanning her arms outwards to indicate everything around us. “They are leeches!”
Daisy softly shook her head. “Who was leeching on who when you put us down as a reference on a job application? I figured you’d be jumping at the opportunity to leave.”
Lacie’s mouth dropped open in shock before she lunged at Daisy. Daisy flinched, but she was spared by Gary, who dragged Lacie away kicking and screaming. Lots of profanities and possibly even incoherent spells could be heard trailing off through the building as she was brought outside. Gabe followed behind them, exiting the room with a shake of his head.
So much was going on that it was hard to process it all. I chose what I felt was the most concerning thought. “She applied somewhere else?”
Daisy nodded. “To three places, actually.”
I nodded, paused for a moment, then asked, “Why me?”
“I’m not good at interacting with people,” she explained. “But you know this place and its people inside and out.”
She was right. I had been here so long, it’s like Charlie’s was second nature for me. I had given it my all for several years and couldn’t imagine my life without it. And, as far as I could tell, Charlie’s was the only thing I could rely on to stay.
”Yes,” I said finally.
-
“So…how often do you do this?” I said mid-munch on my cheesy crackers. I offered her the snack box as a reflex before I remembered who I was talking to. She ignored the gesture.
“Normally only at night, but it got pretty boring after a while,” she explained. “I wanted to explore during the day while the store was open, but the other mannequins told me it was a bad idea.” She was wearing a bright pink floral dress, one of the latest releases for our Spring line. Her stark white features were just as I remembered, though.
“How many others are here?”
She shrugged, her plastic joints making a clicking noise. “Maybe like…8. It’s hard to tell who is sentient and just afraid to get caught.”
“And they told you not to do it?” The concept of these mannequins having something within them that was powerful enough to determine right and wrong was fascinating to me.
“Yeah, they were all like, ‘What if someone sees you?’ And I was like, ‘We literally live in a grocery store. for like vampires and werewolves and stuff. I saw a demon wearing a sombrero last week. Like, come on, guys, lighten up. How would a mannequin walking around be weird?”
“Oh,” I simply responded. Really, I didn’t need to respond. She was a chatty Cathy and would continue even if I didn’t speak.
“Yeah, I think some of them are just afraid of getting dismantled.”
I waved a hand, brushing that idea off. “We’d never do that.”
I’m unsure how I could tell, but she furrowed her brow at me before speaking again. “Are you sure about that? Things are kind of…tense around here. What’s going on with you guys, anyway?
I shrugged and swallowed my crackers before explaining. “Ursula decided to fire everyone, so shit kind of hit the fan.”
She gasped. “Well, that’s a good reason for shit to hit the fan.”
I nodded. “Yeah, it was a colossal shit.”
There was a moment of silence before she spoke again. “So, what are you gonna do?”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, Charlie’s can't stay this way,” she explained. “This place isn’t the same without you guys. You’re like the dream team. You keep the place running, and you guys working together have made it the best it’s ever been. There’s a reason you were all brought here.”
I scoffed. “What, like destiny?”
She shrugged, clicking again. “Something like that.”
“Well…thanks,” I said while nervously rubbing the back of my neck. “How long have you been here, exactly?”
“You don’t even want to know,” she said with a tone that told me she would roll her eyes if she had any. “But, I’ve been to a lot of stores, and I’ve seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. Charlie’s is definitely one of the good ones.”
“Wow,” I said with genuine shock. It was hard to believe her words after all I had seen here, but they also helped me understand why you guys might enjoy our chaotic tales. Marlique saw this hell hole in a new light, and I pondered that while snacking.
Not only did I owe it to Lacie, Gary, Sheryl, and Chip, but I owed it to you guys to save Charlie’s. That’s when the veil came down, or the rose-tinted glasses, if you will. The funky vibe I had felt since Daisy and Ursula got here just…lifted. I could finally see what I needed to do.
But first, snack break.
“What other stores have you been to?” I asked Marlique.
“Probably the worst one was the sex store.”
“Oh,” I said again as my cheeks reddened.
“You won’t believe some of the kinks people have.”
“You don’t have to go into detail if you—-“
She directed my attention to her foot with one board-straight arm. “This is my second set of feet. The first got stolen.”
“Alrighty then,” I said, standing up. “I have to finish closing the store, so you can keep the snacks, and I’ll talk to you later.”
“But wait,” she began. “You haven’t heard what happened to my old friend Tommy’s head.”
Having already begun to walk off, my only response was, “Bye, Marlique!”
-
Hello, it’s Sheryl! I have another joke for you guys!
Why should you never trust stairs?
Because they let you down.
I never thought I’d say this, but Jared is a lot like stairs.
Well…bye, guys. I hope we will see you again soon.

Author's Note: Sorry for the wait, guys! I hope you enjoy it!

2023.11.22 22:09 Specific-Agent-943 LA MALDAD DEL HOMBRE ES UNA ILUSION THE EVIL OF MAN IS AN ILLUSION

JAKE MATE ATEOS BELOW ENGLISH

AMA A DIOS. 2° RAZON. AMA AL PROGIMO. 3 : EMOCION. AMATE A TI MISMO. CRISTOREY Y ALABADO SEA DIOS
The Bible is neither literal history nor allegorical fiction, it is the truth and truth is superior to reason, because it depends on the human factor and this is limited. The Truth is, And it is polyhedral and multidimensional. Someone said myths are a past that was never present. One thing is historical, another is fiction and another is multidimensionality. Some things you can't say with certainty if they are real or fictitious, some things are real when you believe in them, that's what pragmatism says: nothing is real, you interact with it, and it becomes real. And for the subtle planes the dubiously real one is you. Some beings told a researcher that in order to come here, reptoids have to imagine us first... The angels once told me: there is man beyond, there is the kingdom of fantasy and beyond there is God. Do you understand the pure naive faith that you have to have to believe the little story, it becomes real,? and so real that armies tremble before the power of Yahweh as happened in the 6-day war... Fools, through fallacies they call reason, destroy the light that was intended to save you from the darkness that wants to engulf you... and man has a human form and the square atheists and the square agnostics? AWAKENING TO THE INTERNAL MECHANISM OF LIFE WE HAVE A SOUL AND A SPIRIT THAT MUST MERGE, THERE IS A SOUL TWIN OF THE OPPOSITE SEX THAT YOU MUST FIND, CHRIST IS WAITING FOR YOU TO ANSWER THE CALL, SO THAT WITH GOD THEY LIVE INSIDE YOUR INSIDE AND MAKE A NEW BORN MAN. THE TABLE OF SALVATION: 1st SPIRIT. HE LOVES GOD. 2nd REASON. LOVE THE PROGIMO. 3: EMOTION. LOVE YOURSELF. CHRISTOREY AND PRAISE GOD

LA MALDAD DEL HOMBRE ES UNA ILUSION THE EVIL OF MAN IS AN ILLUSION

WAKE UP Humanity And be very careful with criticizing THE HUMAN BEING, for all of the following.
IS man's evil an illusion? God made man evil to show him his mercy, the Bible also says that he gave many resources to evil so that it would lead souls astray, and the more and more success he had in destroying souls predisposed to gambling, souls that failed due to the skillful use of his power, evil, more and more power gained even, until salvation became almost impossible, to the point that it is said the earth is surrounded by an electromagnetic grid that prevents our connection with our higher self... But wait a moment: if evil, the matrix, the devil, the vigilantes, have an action that is crushing, suffocating, coercive, if “violent men snatch the kingdom”, then who can accuse man of being evil? That is why it is so easy for us to forgive: repent, ask for forgiveness and that's it, because it was not us who sinned, it was the evil one inside us, now if out of pride we do not ask for forgiveness or if we liked the sin and it led us completely astray, there will be no forgiveness. But those who fell into Satan's net were theirs, in humanity there are God's people and of them, the Nephilim, their interior ended up in Sheol, that is, the devil catches his own and nothing more, in the end there is no catches no genuine seed, man's evil is an illusion. You just don't have to believe in it for there to be a tomorrow. If God exhorts us to do good and accuses us of being rebellious but it is for an effect on the whole, psychological pressure to counteract the realx that the devil invites us, the important thing is that this exhortation reaches the one who should reach it in the end and it arrives because it is always He does the will of God under heaven.
But wait a moment: if evil, the matrix, the devil, the vigilantes, have an action that is crushing, suffocating, coercive, if “violent men snatch the kingdom”, then who can accuse man of being evil? That is why it is so easy for us to forgive: repent, ask for forgiveness and that's it, because it was not us who sinned, it was the evil one inside us, now if out of pride we do not ask for forgiveness or if we liked the sin and it led us completely astray, there will be no forgiveness,
So the issue is that the chosen ones do not believe that man is evil, because only they represent the spirit of God's salvation and not the whole world, if they give up their mission to endure and believe in the illusion and violence. , overpopulation, global warming, terrorism, crime, etc., it says “man does not deserve salvation”, God's entire process failed and there will be a total extinction. Because only they had to endure being elected, not the majority of the people. Only they, if they break the spell and see that man's evil is an illusion, God will see that his work turned out well and there will be a tomorrow for this humanity. When the one chosen by the light sees the truth, that is when he defeated the devil in the only thing he could do: make him believe that man is evil and if he fails, GOD TRIUMPHED.

NO ME IMPORTA... NO ME IMPORTA... OK NO LE IMPORTA, pero "Y QUE TAL SI" UN DIA LE DICEN A ESE MISMO REY: "REY EL PUEBLO GOZA DE UNA GENEROSA BONANZA, HAY SALUD, HAY RIQUESA, HAY PROGRESO, HAY ORDEN, HERMANDAD, CIVILISACION, PAZ Y SEGURIDAD". Y EL REY ARQUENADO LA CEJAS EXCLAMA: SIIIII? HABRA QUE SUBIR LOS IMPUESTOS? HABRA QUE ABRIR LA EXPORTACIONES? HABRA QUE TRABUCARLES MAS EL CAMINO? MAS FLUOR EN EL AGUA?. ENTOCES pregutamos ERA INDIFERECIA? Y REALMETNE NO TE IMPORTABA? DIOS TE BENDIGA. Mr Best (his name is unfortunate) has just demonstrated that politics is ineffectiveness, laziness, pusillanimity, indifference and sadism. There is a comedy with Ben Stiller where he plays the typical tyrant dictator of the banana republic and an assistant tells him: "KING THE PEOPLE ARE DYING OF HUNGER!!!" "I DON'T CARE," he answers. "KING THE PEOPLE IS ILLITERATE." "I DON'T CARE", "KING THE PEOPLE ARE DYING OF DISEASES" "I DON'T CARE... I DON'T CARE... I DON'T CARE... OK THEY DON'T CARE, but "WHAT IF" ONE DAY THEY TELL HIM TO THAT SAME KING: "KING, THE PEOPLE ENJOY A GENEROUS BONANCE, THERE IS HEALTH, THERE IS WEALTH, THERE IS PROGRESS, THERE IS ORDER, BROTHERHOOD, CIVILIZATION, PEACE AND SECURITY." AND THE KING, RAISED HIS EYEBROWS, EXCLAIMS: YES? SHOULD THEY BE RAISED? TAXES? SHOULD THE EXPORTS BE OPENED? SHOULD THEY NEED TO BE BROUGHT THEIR WAY MORE? MORE FLUORINE IN THE WATER? SO WE ASKED WAS IT INDIFFERENCE? AND YOU REALLY DIDN'T CARE? OR DID IT GIVE YOU A SECRET PLEASURE? THAT OF THE POOR PEOPLE OF YOUR TOWN WHILE YOU BEING FROM THE CASTE, YOU LIVE IN DISGUSTING OPULENCE. IS THIS AN EXTRAVAGANT IDEA? WHEN GOD SAYS AT ONE MOMENT IN THE BIBLE: ISRAEL YOUR RULERS BETRAY YOU. MR Best, with little money and a lot of desire I execute a very basic and elementary idea: Making a well to give it water!!!! was all that had to be done and for hundreds of years one fixed-gear politician DIDN'T DO IT. IT IS EQUIVALENT TO A PERFECT CAKE ON THE FACE GIVEN BY A SIMPLE YOUTUBER WITH A LOT OF HEART. That's why they got angry with him because he showed them that the statement in this post is true and GOD is furious with the politicians of this planet who do not do the basic things they should do, but they are very clever at creating laws against nature, life and common sense, everything that is derived from the disastrous and shameful gender ideology, laws that will enable the world depopulation of Isaiah 24, "woe to the judge who dictates unjust laws" says the Bible and woe to the judge who does not dictate just laws. : water for my thirsty and sick people from drinking black water!!!!! please!!!!! and now they want to close the channel! (please change that youtuber's name!!!) Did you know that the most expensive paintings are those that represent poor people? BROTHERS WE ARE ALL BROTHER (well there are no nephilims) but let's say what Jesus told us in other words or we unite and together governed by reason and love we go in the same direction or we perish, because selfishness and the law of the jungle It is first barbarism, then bestiality, then death. It is very basic what Jesus asks, do not do to others, he does not like what they do to you. Do what you like to be done to you: respect, equality, brotherhood, justice, freedom, peace and security. Vasic and elemental: love and brotherhood and theocrasia on earth CRSITOREY!!!! AND PRAISE GOD YAHVE IN HEAVEN. table of salvation 1st Spirit. love God. 2nd Reason. Love your neighbor. 3rd Emotion. love yourself. You have a higher self that you must connect with to take you to Christ to take you to God or the whole path or nothing. GOD BLESS YOU.
I once asked a teacher and translator: should translations be literal or figurative? She answered me: neither one nor the other, the translation must be “IDIOMATICAL”. I found it very revealing and illustrative, it sounded correct, perfect. Those are two rigid, obsolete, dead structures, and man, how communication is alive, how vocabulary is an organism, he saw, well, it is born, it changes, it grows, it is modified, and it also dies. Like the word “so” or the sound of the axe. The translation must be intelligent. The same can be applied with the interpretation that we must make of the Bible, it must be honest, impartial, truthful, intelligent, alive. An Internet user arguing in favor of abortion told me that in the Bible the punishment for killing a man is life itself, but if one causes an abortion, he must pay a fine... ergo he is not considered a living man... Come on ! If you want to deceive yourself, go ahead, you can do it, the devil will be happy with you, that's what it's about, seeing how you are. The Bible gives you the initial guideline, then you must follow with your reason and impartiality, if you want to play dumb, to argue with fallacies in favor of the immediate satisfaction of your ego, you can do it, but you will not get very far into the realm of God. The Bible is precisely testing that very thing, who is who, according to how you interpret it. How many times does God put us in suspense in a point of limbo, where believing or not believing has 50% of each part, so that our purest nature emerges without contamination to see how we really are. Some also say the Bible does not prohibit drugs, when it does prohibit eating fat because it is harmful, what would it say about drugs then? "The paths to the Lord are straight and the righteous walk along them but the wicked stumble." The Bible often contradicts itself, sometimes formally, sometimes conceptually. The starting point is to make an interpretation of the SPIRITUAL Bible, you must feel with all intensity that it is the correct one, because the union of the Holy Spirit, common sense, and experience tells you so, and everything combining it with your interior and with your current situation. Well yes or yes it must be an interpretation with your now, with your common sense, which is God today, when the lyrics are God yesterday, but we live here and not yesterday! For example, if you see that all the pastors are possessed by the devil, but the word says “do not stop assembling,” are you going to respect the dead letter when you are in danger from being surrounded by possessed people? Don't forget that the Bible says “respect the authorities” but then it says those who accept the mark of the beast will go to hell. The Bible says help the poor, but it also says “he who does not work should not eat.” One must know when is when and it is fatal to make a mistake. Like the Hebrews who open themselves to destructive paganism but closed themselves to Christ by the dead letter as does someone as intelligently prepared as Ben Shapiro, and we all know with all the certainty in the world that they erred. Because “the lineage is from the father and not from the mother” and blah blah blah, and “the Sabbath” and blah blah blah. A phrase that breaks your head and that helps a lot at this point is “the message is in the receiver”, wow! Not in the middle, the closed book full of dust in the library is dead, it is when a human reads it that it comes to life in it, because it is alive, if it is capable of making a spiritual interpretation, neither literal nor figurative, but you see, correct, perfect. So don't play dumb by deceiving yourself because that's what you're trying to see in the Bible if you have that tendency, and so you're a cunning person trapped in his cunning, as the Bible says, that no one deceives God or our conscience, which is unbribable and in On the day of judgment he will either defend us or he will not betray us. Get your batteries. God bless you.

2023.09.06 04:36 zafiroxGG General information about ME/CFS

Hi, I've been with EM/CFS since 2016 and I've been investigating a lot about this illness.
I'm going to update regularly this post. Since I'm Spaniard I'm also gonna translate it at the end. Excuse me if I write something wrong since I'm not a native English speaker.
-
First of all, how do you know you have EM/CFS? Well, the doctors have to try to figure out that you have it by discard, so prepare to a lot of tests. In my case, I had to see an internal medicine doctor until he figured out that I had it. This illness is so badly investigated and known. Talk to an internal medicine doctor, but this illness has to be investigated in 3 areas. We'll talk about it later.
Common syntoms are:
· Extreme exhaustion after physical or mental exercise (this is the most important)
· Unrefreshing sleeps
· Difficulties with memory, focus and concentration
· Headaches or "brain fog"

Less common syntoms are:
· Dizziness that worsens when going from lying or sitting to standing
· Sore throat
· Unexplained muscle/joint pain or tingling sensation
· Enlarged lymph nodes in the neck or armpits
· Dizziness that worsens when going from lying or sitting to standing
unrefreshing sleep.

This illness affects more females than males. The causes of this are still unknown.

There is any treatment? Currently there is not treatment to cure your illness. But there are things you can do:
The best thing you can do and that it worked for me is to consume vitamines with Q10, try to eat healthy, consume more often aliments with luteolin, take antioxidants and lower your gluten intake as much as you can (Bread with gluten has to be removed from the diet at least. Why not consuming bread with gluten? Because it lowers inflammation, which helps). Just by this you can notice around a 20-30% in your rating of discapacity (at least for me it was for long-term. I couldn't move from bed in the first years), I tend to use the rating from the Dr. David Bell so also doctors can understand how bad you are.
For exercise, keep in mind stress is the factor that makes this illness hard to confront. Just making a little exercise will stress your cells and cause a lot of issues. Try to just maintain your most important muscles: back and lower back, arms and legs. Focus only on one of those if you do it. Do soft exercise with your own body, stretching is good for maintaining your shape even it is not for your body because it causes you discomfort (PEM). Even so, you need to still do it at least 1 time a week minimum, but don't do it if you are very disabled. If you are so weak in arms (like I was once) you can try dumbells with little weight. I tend to do sometimes some soft stretches/exercises to maintain my body once or two times a week. TRY to go outside sometimes or move close to a window at noon to get some vitamin D (by Sun rays), it really helps to maintain your cycle day-night. I know this is just impossible if you can't get out of bed but with some vitamins you may feel good enought to do it; or you can also just sunbathe from a window. Try to know your limits, remember you'll get PEM but you can get worse in your shape. If you are a lot of the time in the bed, try to improve before doing exercise. Do some exercise just before you go to sleep, if it's not good for you, avoid it.
Where is the root of the issue with this illness? Well, looking at recent studies (2020-2022) as well as some older ones, theories from doctors and so on... I can say the main issue has to be in the hypothalamus-adrenal axis, as well as a multi-system disease that comprehends a desregulation of the Central Nervous System, immunitary system and cellular energy metabolism. It can also cause, which is my case, problems in the small intestine by dysregulating good and bad bacteria. Probiotics are good for this. I could add a lot of studies that lead me to this conclusion but I'd had to search again for each one.
Therefore, this is a multi-factor disease that has to be studied in 3 areas: Neurologic, immunitary and cellular. You need to talk to doctors speciallized in those areas. Maybe even intestinal if you have issues there.
THIS IS NOT a psychologic or psychiatric illness. If you have ansiety or depression, sure... you must treat it... But that is caused due to social asoliation, not due this illness! If you have a lot of pain you can go to the rheumatologist but you shouldn't go there otherwise.
Normally the cause of this disease is post-viral after an infection. It can be caused by the EBV virus. (that causes mononucleosis, also my cause) but it can be another type of herpes virus (mostly human herpes 6) and some retroviruses.
If EBV or a viral infection is the cause... Why most people don't have this illness? (I have a brother and a sister that had EBV and they didn't get this illness) Well, the most logic answer is that it has genetic factors. And it has been studied, here is a good study about it: https://www.mdpi.com/1422-0067/24/3/2698
What you should do to get investigated? Well... there is not a lot of investigation and you probably won't be investigated (it will depend on your country). We as a community need to get more visibility and let the public know about it so we get more funding for this illness. This is very important to get more investigation and studies. You or your family need to talk about this issue in TV or wherever it is needed.
Based on scientific stuff, there are some adaptogenic chinese herbs that you can use if your doctor detect low cortisol levels. This is not necessary but it may help, as it helped a little to me. You can ask me the link in my PMs.
There are recent studies about the reduction of syntesis of ATP and issues with the Complex V. This is all related to mitochondrial failure.

https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/j.1532-2149.2013.00284.x
Take Q10 in vitamins (or alone) as it was also studied and it helps.
https://www.researchgate.net/figure/CoQ-10-levels-lipid-peroxidation-and-ATP-content-in-PBMC-from-CFS-and-FM-patients-and_fig3_236249638
(I'm gonna in the next months information about some biomarkers if I found some from the tests that doctors are doing to me since new studies may have discovered some, but this is for the future)
-
Now here is where I will put the less scientific and more personal stuff:
After mono, I had a very bad hepatitis B illness, I couldn't move from bed. I had blood circulation issues, a lot of pain in muscles back pain, brain fog... I was basically dead in life. When I took vitamines with Gingseng I got like a 10% better. Then I started to look for herbal complex for circulation, but it didn't help much. I looked to look for the best herbal complex possible, and I got one from a chinese shop. I looked for Ashwanda and Astragalus since I saw those herbs helped with the liver & the stress. I got better, like a 10% better. So I could start to go to more doctors and I also went to psychiatrist. She didn't recommended me a but that was her first idea. She instead recommended me norepinephrine/noradrenaline. The side effect was that heart beat was increased and it was so good for me. I also had not that much brain fog (I felt like I was very alert and focused all the time). I took it for 2 months but I had to stop, because my mind wanted to keep making things but my body couldn't follow it, I still had no energy. Mentally it was a little better but I had crash after crash. Now I have no longer circulation issues. I even stopped consuming the herbs and I'm stable now, I can't do many things but it is not as bad. Now is when I started taking vitamines with Q10 instead of vitamines with Gingseng. It works so much better, since Gingseng is like caffeine and Q10 basically transports energy to the mitochondria.
Also, it seems that the ME/CFS improve with warmer weather and it is worse with cold (because fungi are more common and produce mycotoxins) but I can't say for sure. Outside the big cities you will feel better because there may be more oxygen and less pollution, that can help too. Source: Various and this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mssp0DQef_Q
Oh, and recently, I discovered that it exist a chinese plant that helps with EM/CFS. The name of the plant is Sophora flavescens, and the important compound is extracted from the root: Oxymatrine. It has a lot of benefits and many people (like 50%) that doesn't have immunological diseases improved up to 90% (some of them much less), but you need to take it for a very long time (6 months minimum). I'll let you know if I test it if but it seems hard to get in Europe. It looks good because it has some chinese studies about it but it is not that studied in the west. Sources:
Dr Chia: https://www.biologischmedischcentrumbmc.nl/oxymatrine-treatment.htm // https://patents.google.com/patent/WO2010011975A1/en
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5974617/ <- Be careful because this herb produces hepatotoxicity, start with less doses.
Oxymatrine worked A LOT for me and it has been approved by chinese studies. Research about it.
http://www.itmonline.org/arts/oxymatrine.htm

Keep in mind everything that worked for me doesn't have to work for you.

Hope this can help you.

· Sueño no reparador

sueño no reparador.

Fuentes:
Dr Chia: https://www.biologischmedischcentrumbmc.nl/oxymatrine-treatment.htm // https://patents.google.com/patent/WO2010011975A1/en
http://www.itmonline.org/arts/oxymatrine.htm

Last name은 성이고, First name은 이름이에요.

Hello!

Today, I would like to learn about Huobi Global Exchange membership.

It's not fun to just find out, so let's introduce the table of contents, explain it in order, and sign up for Huobi Global Exchange.

  1. Huobi Global Exchange Features

  1. Joining Huobi Global Exchange Membership

  1. Huobi Global Exchange Deposit

  1. Huobi Global Exchange Features

Huobi Global Exchange ranks ninth worldwide by volume of derivatives.

Considering that there are so many cryptocurrency exchanges around the world, we can see that it is quite ranked.

The reason why it's important to have a lot of trading volume is because it's so liquid.

Let's say an extreme example is that there's an exchange that only trades $1,000 a day.

It'll be a mess from the start, right?

In addition, Huobi Global Exchange allows you to deposit various cryptocurrencies and earn interest.

In particular, for USDD, you can get an interest rate of 18% on autonomous deposits and 6.8% on fixed deposits.

But I think the interest on autonomous deposits should be lower... Anyway, that's right.

And USDD is a stable coin.

So you deposit dollars and you get interest.

These days, you can get 3-5% if you deposit a stable coin on other overseas exchanges.

In the past, we supported 8-10%, but the market seems to have lowered interest rates due to the bad market.

In that respect, the USDD is almost a honey bucket.

One could talk about USDD's pegs.

Surprisingly, I recovered.

Justin Sun is always controversial, but he survived well in the end.

USDD had been unpegging for months, but it ended up coming back...

Of course, at that rate, the pegs could break again, or in the worst case, it could be like Luna's UST.

Please always be careful because there is no safe product on the investment board.

  1. Joining Huobi Global Exchange Membership

Huobi Buy Bitcoin/Ethereum Secure cryptocurrency trading platform
Huobi serves its 10 million+ users worldwide with secure and stable trading services. Here at Huobi, you can buy Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, SHIB, and over 500 quality cryptocurrencies anywhere, anytime.

www.huobi-kol.me

From now on, I will sign up for Huobi Global Exchange.

They will proceed with the membership registration through the link above.

Let's write down your email or phone number first.

The verification number will be sent afterwards, so please write it down.

Next, you need to set a password.

There's something you need to keep.

Must be at least 8 digits, and must meet 2 of the numbers, letters, and special symbols at the same time.

It would be easiest to create a password by combining numbers and letters, right?

This is the end of my membership.

But wait, there's something uncomfortable no matter how much I look at it.

That's Chinese characters.

It doesn't matter if you can speak Chinese, but there will be more people who can't.

Therefore, let's touch the globe icon in the upper right corner to set up the language.

A total of 14 languages are supported.

Unfortunately, there was no Korean.

Therefore, English is the most convenient choice among the 14.

If even English is uncomfortable, please use Naver Whale or Chrome translation function.

However, the translation performance is very poor, so it would be better to proceed in English if possible.

Next, let's do Huobi Global Exchange KYC.

I have one thing to tell you.

Huobi KYC is not available on mobile but only on PC.

Therefore, those who have signed up on mobile will inevitably have to turn on their computers.

If you select Security, there is Basic Verification on the PC as above, but not on the mobile.

Huobi hasn't updated it, so there's nothing I can do about it right now. crying

Anyway, if you choose Basic Verification, there are two alternatives.

Personal and Instusional, the former being an individual and the latter being an institution.

Therefore, we will proceed with personal.

All you have to do is fill out our personal information.

Huobi Global Exchange provides a separate column where you can write down your Korean name very kindly.

I've put up an example, so you can do it as follows.

Last name is the last name, and First name is the first name.

So if your name is Hong Gildong, you can do it like Hong Gildong, right?

You can set the date of birth at the bottom.

And there's a phrase "Apply for Dominica" but you can't check it!

By the way, in LV1, you can finish KYC without posting photos of your resident registration card or passport.

There is a high possibility that something will be abused, but please don't do that.

Maybe Huobi can do a van!!

  1. Huobi Global Exchange Deposit

Lastly, let's make a deposit on Huobi Global Exchange.

If you're done with KYC, you can trade in earnest, so you need to know how to make a deposit.

Touch the Assets on the left side of Me at the bottom right.

It's an icon with three gold bars on it.

After that, please select Deposit in the upper left corner one more time!

Finally, you can set up the virtual currency and Deposit Network that you want to receive the deposit.

The parts covered in white are QR codes and wallet addresses.

You can send it to Huobi Global Exchange from the domestic exchange to that address.

Today, we learned how to sign up for Huobi Global Exchange.

2023.08.03 01:55 Chronos-X4 A (Dis)Figure(Ment) of Speech

Inspired by this writing prompt at humansarespaceorcs:
"So as I was traveling around earth. I learned that humans used different languages. Though, as I was learning I chose Spainish. Let say it's not easy with when u got spilt tomgue"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today was a grand day indeed. The new Ambassador of Planet Ilaurus at Planet Terra, the homeworld of the Humans, had been appointed barely a fortnight ago, and today was his inauguration day.
Dr. Alkaion Mar’Kosias nervously paced around his quarters at the Terran Embassy offices of Old New York. Though the accommodations tended toward spartan (at least for one of such august upbringing), Mar’Kosias had far greater problems to worry about.
(Translated from Standard Thelousian). “[{Why in the name of Ilaurus did I let you talk me into this, Xelik!? I can barely handle our fellow Ailurans, and you expect me to keep an eye on these damned apes!?}].”
Alkaion already knew the answer. Like many of his contemporaries, Mar’Kosias had been bred specifically to serve the Lukonian Empire as a dignitary, or whatever other pencil-pushing endeavor the Empire might require of him. He’d been recommended for the position to His Majesty by no other than Chief Scientist Xelik Am’Dussias, leader of the Imperial Scientists Guild at Planet Argyrios.
“[{One does not simply refuse a request from the Emperor himself and walk away unscathed...}].”
Sighing out loud, Alkaion discreetly peeked out a nearby window. Two hours had yet to go by after his appointment was broadcast on the Imperial Holonet, and protestors were already outside.
“[{Why did Xelik and His Majesty bother? At best I'll be nothing more than a puppet ruler for the Humans to play with, all too fitting, considering they won the damned war. At worst, I’ll serve as a convenient scapegoat should the armistice go sour and either side fancy a new whipping boy}].”
To make matters worse, Mar’Kosias would be under house arrest throughout his tenure. He’d only be allowed into certain specific areas within the Embassy, always accompanied by far too many Human soldiers to list, same as whenever he would have to leave the building.
Alkaion shook his head: these grunts had just survived an all-out war for a good ten cycles. Much like his fellow Ailurans, the humans he’d known weren’t much for compassion and understanding. He’d sooner find himself deified by the Ilauran Senate than come across anyone willing to wax philosophical.
“[{In other words, I traded one group of troglodytes for another. I—}].”
A knock on the door. In came a throng of Human soldiers, escorting Alkaion’s new minder, who then addressed him thusly.
Tenga usted buenas tardes, Dr. Mar’Kosias. Soy Eudaldo Vargas Ortiz, gobernador interino de la Antigua Nueva York. ¿Cómo estuvo su viaje?
Alkaion’s Automatized Personal Translator (APT) rendered the speech into English:
“Good evening, Dr. Mar’Kosias. I am Eudaldo Vargas-Ortiz, acting governor of Old New York. How was your trip?”
Alkaion gathered himself, praying to all the gods of his people that Vargas and company wouldn’t smell the fear in him. A couple of awkward throat clearings later, Mar’Kosias responded.
Buenaz taddes, Gobednadod Vadgaz.
APT Translation: “Good evening, Governor Vargas. The trip went without a hitch. I apologize for my pronunciation. I suffer from a cleft palate, in addition to a certain atavism. I was born with a forked tongue, which makes speaking difficult.”
A couple of soldiers among the group couldn’t quite repress a chuckle or two. Vargas grinned wryly.
“Nada de qué avergonzarse. Hemos ajustado nuestros Traductores Automatizados Personales de modo acorde.”
APT: “Nothing to be ashamed of. We have adjusted our Automatized Personal Translators accordingly.”
Mar’kosias showed his thanks with a polite bow. A good half a minute later, Vargas saw fit to reply.
APT: “I hope you are hungry, Doctor. We will celebrate your inauguration day with dinner at my native Medellín. This way, please.”
Flanked by Terran soldiers (and the no less physically impressive Vargas), Alkaion went on to whatever fate had in store for him…

2023.05.29 22:33 PurplethePsycmoe I need help and I'm offering $500 USD offer for recently returned AR citizen

tl;dr seeking a citizen who has lived abroad for a year and wants to earn a little money legitimately.
My first language is English. I am posting this in both English and Spanish, but the translation may be off. Please forgive me if it is and ask questions if you need it to make more sense.
So this is a big reach. My spouse and I recently moved to CBA from EEUU and we're working on getting residency. We're having paperwork difficulties that has delayed this but it is still the plan. Meanwhile, our stuff is stuck in a warehouse, and we can't get it until we have at least residencia precaria.
Currently I have to pay $500 USD for 45 days of rent in the warehouse. It's terrible. The paperwork issues will take at minimum another 70 days to deal with. While I can technically afford it, it's a waste.
The person working with me from the moving logistics team said that the warehouse can deliver the items if they can be received by a citizen or legal resident of Argentina who has spent at least 12 months abroad and has recently returned. I do not know how recently is acceptable, but I suspect within a couple months. I can find that information out easily enough.
So if you or someone you know is a citizen who meets that criteria, or may be coming back to visit soon, I would rather give you the money than the warehouse. I'll pay you $20 to have a conversation with me and the logistics guy. If you can help us get our stuff, I'll pay you $500. Pretty easy, honestly.
Si puedes ayudarnos a conseguir nuestras cosas, te pagaré $500. Bastante fácil, sinceramente.
I just paid the rent in the warehouse so I have until mid July to figure this out right now. Please ask me whatever questions you have. I just want to get this out of my hair and if I can make a person a little richer, that seems a better deal than giving it to a company.
Thank you in advance to everyone who is going to warn me to be aware of scams. I very much am, and understand the precarious position this ask puts me in.

My reader recommended my own story to me
Thought this was super sweet. In one of my stories I ask my readers to recommend similar stories since it’s hard to find that trope. One of my readers recommended 2 and 1 of them I wrote 😅
Also if you guys have any falling into the world of the walking dead stories I’d love to read them please 🙏

Last name은 성이고, First name은 이름이에요.

Here at Huobi, you can buy Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, SHIB, and over 500 quality cryptocurrencies anywhere, anytime. www.huobi-kol.com Hello! Today, I would like to learn about Huobi Global Exchange membership. It's not fun to just find out, so let's introduce the table of contents, explain it in order, and sign up for Huobi Global Exchange. 1. Characteristics of Huobi Global Exchange 2. Joining Huobi Global Exchange 3. Deposit on Huobi Global Exchange 1. Characteristics of Huobi Global Exchange Huobi Global Exchange ranks ninth worldwide by volume of derivatives. 2. Joining Huobi Global Exchange https://www.huobi-kol.com/en-us/v/registedouble-invite/?inviter\_id=11345710&invite\_code=4xa23 Huobi Buy Bitcoin/Ethereum Secure cryptocurrency trading platform Huobi serves its 10 million+ users worldwide with secure and stable trading services. Here at Huobi, you can buy Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, SHIB, and over 500 quality cryptocurrencies anywhere, anytime. www.huobi-kol.com From now on, I will sign up for Huobi Global Exchange. We will proceed with the membership registration through the link above. Huobi hasn't updated it, so there's nothing I can do about it right now. crying Anyway, if you choose Basic Verification, there are two alternatives. 3. Deposit on Huobi Global Exchange Lastly, let's make a deposit on Huobi Global Exchange. Today, we learned how to sign up for Huobi Global Exchange. https://www.huobi-kol.com/en-us/v/registedouble-invite/?inviter\_id=11345710&invite\_code=4xa23 Huobi Buy Bitcoin/Ethereum Secure cryptocurrency trading platform Huobi serves its 10 million+ users worldwide with secure and stable trading services. Here at Huobi, you can buy Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, SHIB, and over 500 quality cryptocurrencies anywhere, anytime. www.huobi-kol.com I hope you can buy good coins at a reasonable price on Huobi Global Exchange and make a lot of profits...

2023.05.05 06:50 hombrx Who is the worst guy between these two? A or B (songs about breakups)

A. Guy from Ex (미친 놈) We have said all there is to be said Let's just say we weren't compatible Honestly, I did have feelings for other people And that's my sin When you asked me if something was wrong, I said no-no I'm the one who said not to worry Butwhy am I worried now? Eng text by Genius
B. Guy from CHILL (식혀) Yeah, we gonna break, break, break together We burn each other's valuable days Even if we throw away everything, we don't regret Just cool down our frustration Never mind about me anymore Get out of here, out of my memory Yeah, throw everything too, so there's no regret Just cold down our frustration Eng text by Genius

So in the last episode of Stray Kids's variety show (SKZ CODE), the discussion sparkled between Ex and CHILL. There is a long controversy about if EX's second verse (the one above) is about a bad boy, a cheater. CHILL is another break up song, new contender.
After reading the verses and maybe the two stories of the failed relationships between these two guys, which one is the bad boy? Or as it says the episode question, which bad boy's lyrics are harder to resonate with?
Positive outcome: relationshipa and ex relationships are there to learn and grow. Always communicate from the beginning, or else you can hurt another person and dragging that hurt, but as a saying of my country says approx, by screwing up, you learn.
Personally, the stories aren't black/white. Ex's guy says, oh well I'm distancing myself from you, it's clear that I don't love you, I even felt attracted to more people. I don't think that's particularly wrong because we have eyes. I.N says it didn't come to fruition, but what's the limit? The guy didn't communicate what he was feeling since the beginning and hurted the person he said he didn't love, even when the person asked if something was wrong (communication). Then he regrets and to be honest, I trust he is hurt and realizes he messed up, but the audacity! DESERVED. Wait 5 years before trying to come back. I resonate a lot with this song, something similar happened to me, but I wasn't Guy A lol. Now, B Guy sucks too, because he also fought, he contributed to drag a loveless relationship to the point of being fed up and sounding bitter; fighting and getting angry takes up a lot of energy, so what's the point. Bad communication since the beginning. But the other person doesn't seem to want to confront the situation either. It's an unhappier relationship than A. I resonate with not loving someone and dragging it, and that sucks, because people deserve to be in a relationship with love. Point in favour: well at least he ended it with no regrets lol. *Levanter plays* tl;dr: I think both sucked and as Hyunjin said, they should date each other.

2023.03.04 21:53 GregoriusPetrus Three Polish songs from 1980s probably (?) referenced/alluded to by AoT (spoiler alert: key events of season 4)

There was a Polish singer and songwriter, called Jacek Kaczmarski (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacek_Kaczmarski). He was associated with the Anti-Communist movement (Solidarity, Walesa, etc.) and performed in 70s-90s. His creations are often grouped as sung poetry/bard music (think V. Vysotsky and the like), he used many complicated metaphors rooted in history, mythology and European literature.
I've noticed (I am Polish, English is my second language, so I'm sorry for mistranslations or grammar mistakes) that there are two obscure songs of Kaczmarski that feature motifs distinctly reminiscent of the plot of Attack on Titan. They are called "Przybycie tytanów" (The Coming of Titans) and "Lament Tytana" (Titan's Lament).
In "Przybycie tytanów", we have these lyrics (You can find the original text here: https://www.kaczmarski.art.pl/tworczosc/wiersze/przybycie-tytanow/ ). I tried to translate it as literally as possible - Polish text on the left, translation on the right.
Przybycie tytanów (The Coming of Titans)
Idą tytani (The Titans are coming)
Na świat zesłani, (sent to the world)
Żeby naprawić zło! (to mend/cure evil!)
I wiemy to z ostatniej chwili, (And we know it, from the latest news)
Że gdzieś już nawet naprawili. (That they have already "cured" some place from evil)

Krok ich nam w uszach od dawna brzmi, (Their stomping resounds in our ears since long ago)
Ale postaci nie widać wciąż. (but we can't see their appearance)
Czujemy tylko jak ziemia drży (we only feel the shaking of earth)
Pod krokiem, który drąży jej miąższ.(under their feet that pierce/hollow the ground)
Na wschód, na zachód zerkamy kątem, (we gaze to the west and to the east)
Czy już górują nad horyzontem, (to see if their towering silhouettes appear on the horizon)
Lecz ciągle nic, prócz kroku ech, (but we still see nothing but hear their resounding stomping)
Co poniektórym wstrzymuje dech… (and some struggle to breathe, hearing [this])

(...) - I excluded some description of a military preparing to fight the titans (just a bunch of references to a totalitarian state lying to the people that 'there is nothing here', but preparing an army in secret - tanks, soldiers, etc.). Nothing reminiscent of AOT. It was probably a social commentary about the communists in Poland, preparing to quench a revolt of the oppressed people. The song goes further:

Czuje się w każdym ruchu i zdaniu: (It is felt in every gesture and speech)
Idą tytani! Idą tytani! Idą tytani! Idą tytani! (The Titans are coming! x 4 )
Grom! Huk! Trzask! Pył! (The lightning! The rumbling sound! The cracks! The dust/cinders!)
Przeszli tytani (The titans have gone past us)
Na świat zesłani, (the ones sent to the world)
Żeby naprawić zło… (to mend/cure evil)
Byliśmy dla nich za mali – (we were too small for them)
Nie zobaczyli… (they didn't see us)
Zdeptali. ([and) they have crushed us)

As we can see, we have here:
- a cataclysm caused by some "titans" (Polish "tytani" is also used as the official translation of Japanese "kyojin" of the manga), that are apparently giants and make the earth tremble (noticeable, as the Titans of classical mythology were often similar to normal humans, eg. Prometheus).
- the Titans, "as of the time of speaking", have "cured" some evil, that is, annihilated some land/nation,
- the Titans are associated with rumbling sounds, lightning (see transformation sequences) and are sent to fight/destroy some evil (as Eren sends the Wall Titans to fight enemies of Paradis),
- the Titans kill enemies by crushing them with their feet, normal weapons are incapable of doing harm to them and the people are deeply terrified of them (viz. citizens of Liberio, the nation of Ramzi and Halil).
But the text was apparently written in 1977 (see attached source).

"Lament Tytana" goes like this (as above, original text here: https://www.kaczmarski.art.pl/tworczosc/wiersze/lament-tytana/ ). Written in 1997.

Więc jest na szczycie! Wreszcie na szczycie! (So he is on the top, at last, on the top!)
W końcu doczekał się chwały! (At last, he received his glory!)
Łeb nurza w niewyczerpanym błękicie, (His head in the measureless blue of the sky)
Pod stopą głazów zawały. (under his feet tons of crushed stone)
Własnym pomnikiem stał się za życia (he became an alive sculpture of himself)
Już nieoddzielny od skały. (already inseparable from the rock)
Więc skąd z ust jego nieludzkie wycie, (So, why his mouth emits an inhuman cry)
Któremu świat jest za mały? (and the world is too small for him?)

(...) - the rest of the song references the myth of Prometheus (who stole fire from the gods, created humans from clay, etc. No AOT material).

- a "Titan" standing on a high mountain, surrounded by blue sky - looks just like the famous "Freedom!" panel of Eren. "The world is too small for him" (you know, these countless quotes about the world beyond the walls, flaming ice, boundless deserts, etc.).
- the constant references to rocks, stones, etc. (the titan "becomes" stone) are similar to the hardening ability of Eren after devouring the Warhammer Titan and to the scenes from the "My War" opening (near the end of the sequence, we see a stone sculpture that resembles Eren's titan, standing of a bunch of rocks/dead titans, and hear a "screaming" sound).
- the quoted fragment has no direct parallel in Prometheus's story. It might be of Kaczmarski's invention, so... if we even assume that the AOT Titans are based on Prometheus, why do we have no similarities with core elements of the myth (stealing fire) in the plot of AOT, but we do have similarities with this, relatively obscure, poem.

Finally, the most popular and influential song of Kaczmarski... "Mury" (The Walls). Sic. The unofficial anthem of the Solidarity movement. It follows a story of some individual that incites a rebellion with his song and persuasion, telling the people to destroy "the walls" (Kaczmarski used the text of L'Estaca, albeit very loosely. Written in 1978).
(original text: https://www.kaczmarski.art.pl/tworczosc/wiersze/mury/ )

He was entranced and young, they [his followers] were countless)
On im dodawał pieśnią sił, śpiewał że blisko już świt. (He supported them with his song; he sang that the dawn was close)
Świec tysiące palili mu, znad głów podnosił się dym; (They burnt thousands of candles for him, and smoke wafted off from their heads)
Śpiewał, że czas by runął mur… (he sang that it is time for the wall to fall)
Oni śpiewali wraz z nim: (and they sang with him)

Wyrwij murom zęby krat! (Tear down the walls and their "teeth" of steel bars!)
Zerwij kajdany, połam bat! (Tear the chains and break the whip!)
A mury runą, runą, runą (And the walls will fall, fall, fall)
I pogrzebią stary świat! (and bury the old world beneath them!)
(...)
Patrzył na równy tłumów marsz, (he looked at the crowds marching in unison)
Milczał wsłuchany w kroków huk, (he was mute, listening to the rumbling feet)
A mury rosły, rosły, rosły, (and the walls rose, rose, rose)
Łańcuch kołysał się u nóg… (and the chains swung by the legs)

- as before, we have the motif of a "rumbling sound" of a crowd walking to fight somebody,
- there is a charismatic leader who encites his comrades to fight with a song, his intention is to free his people by tearing down the walls. The destruction of the walls will bring an end to the injust world (Rumbling?) and the walls are somehow related to teeth in their symbolism (Titans eating people?).
- there is a mention of many candles (opening 2, Jiyuu no Tsubasa, has a scene with Armin covered in blood and many candles that are put down, all except one. The candles symbolise dying Survey Corps members) and emitting smoke from head (remember Eren in the early episodes, fuming with anger and producing a smoke from bandaged head, due to his Titan powers?). Although there is a Polish saying about being angry, that "someone's head is smoking", so it might be a coincidence.
- the rebellion leads to suffering and the leader is "isolated" from his people, his methods lead to a new enslavement, to hate, not true freedom. The omitted parts contain a description of the rebellion and a motto of the rebels: "Who is not with us, is against us!" (I don't want to discuss the ethics of Eren's Rumbling, but Isayama seems to interpret this as fighting evil with evil, the circle of hatred, etc.).

Has Isayama-sensei consciously referenced Kaczmarski's poetry and songs? Or are these already common themes in literature/music? The shared symbolism is, in my opinion, very specific and cannot be attributed to the original myths (of Prometheus, of Titans from the Norse mythology (Ymir), Ragnarok, etc.). I don't know, for example, any author who described a cataclysm caused by walking giants, sent on a specific purpose.

2023.02.27 12:44 zafiroxGG General information about EM/CFS

Take Q10 in vitamins (or alone) as it was also studied and it helps.

(I'm gonna in the next months information about some biomarkers if I found some from the tests that doctors are doing to me since new studies may have discovered some, but this is for the future)

She treated me with antidepressants as it was her first idea, it didn't work. Then, she instead recommended me norepinephrine/noradrenaline.

Keep in mind everything that worked for me doesn't have to work for you.

Hope this can help you.

· Sueño no reparador

sueño no reparador.

Entonces ella me recomendó noradrenalina.
Fuentes:
Dr Chia: https://www.biologischmedischcentrumbmc.nl/oxymatrine-treatment.htm // https://patents.google.com/patent/WO2010011975A1/en
http://www.itmonline.org/arts/oxymatrine.htm
