I started this group when I was studying CCNA and coordinated with others in CCNA to have a more group study focus rather than shouting to the void. I've since stopped but encourage others to set up, coordinate, and facilitate study groups. I've made the community public so now anyone should be able to post. Good luck and have fun!!

2024.05.15 12:13 nulluminare_ RX Antenna Placement Issue on Cinebot30

RX Antenna Placement Issue on Cinebot30
I have a Cinebot30 with an O3 Air Unit and ELRS RX (Geprc nano ELRS 2.4). My radio is a Radiomaster Pocket at 250mW, with a Packet Rate of 500Hz.
Switching the Air Unit to FCC mode made it so the video signal now outperforms my radio.
In an open field, I can go about a kilometer without issues, with RSSI dBm around -60 to -70. With some bushes and small trees, the max range becomes about 500 meters, with RSSI dBm at around -80.
I know I can go further, but the issue is, I believe the battery is placed parallel to the quad, blocking the antenna after turning the quad around and facing me. So, if I go to the limit of about -90 dBm, after turning around, RSSI dBm will drop to -100 or so, which is close to the failsafe value.
Will getting a longer antenna help? Or is the issue with my radio maxing out at 250mW?

2024.05.15 09:52 torturednorsepoet Newly dx and have some questions

So after 5 years of fighting to figure out what was going on with me and being told a mixture of: anxiety, depression, migraines and/or allergies. I finally got a doctor to listen to me (an optamologist of all things) and her finding my optic nerves being swollen and that I possibly have this disease caused me to fight for an MRI/MRV. That showed I had:
  1. A partially empty sella
  2. A 13 cm cyst on my pituary gland
  3. Mild narrowing along the lateral aspect of bilateral transverse venous sinuses
All of that combined with my symptoms had me finding a new doctor to go to because my neurologist saw all of that and still said "it's just depression" so I did research and asked my pcp to refer me to a neuro-optamologist. He said everything sounds like IIH and scheduled me a LP. That came out at 35, got my official dx and diamox ordered.
I've been scared to start diamox from all the horror stories but, I've kept doing research and feel a bit better about starting it knowing that upping my wateelectrolytes and potassium can help tremendously with side effects. However, I was hoping for a few things to be answered by you lovely people.
  1. I'd absolutely LOVE to hear positive stories. I desperately need it for both people getting their lives back having IIH and people on diamox. I've felt like I haven't lived in years due to so many different illnesses (pcos, anxiety, depression, adhd, chronic pain, migraines and now IIH.) I felt like I could still live my life until about 5 years ago when I started getting insane head pressure but, anytime I went to the ER or a doctor - they were like "oh that must be a headache or migraine". No one would listen when I said "no, it doesn't hurt..I can have a migraine with it but this is different, I feel like my head is full and needs drained". Anyways, since that started 5 years ago my head pressure episodes have gotten worse and I'm usually bed ridden that entire time cause I just cannot function. I miss living my life and I just want hope.
  2. I know I need to bring this back up with my doctor but, when they went over my MRI/V notes no one mentioned the "Mild narrowing along the lateral aspect of bilateral transverse venous sinuses". Is this what people get stents for? Is that stenosis? Should I be asking them to look more into that?
  3. I had my LP done on Fri (the 10th) and I've been naesous almost constantly since. Is that a normal thing? I've had a headache and migraine as well, migraine was on day 3 and then day 4/yesterday was a mild headache. From my understanding a spinal headache from an LP is undeniable and you'll know it's from that, correct? This has felt like a typical migraine/headache. Nothing I'm not used to and it doesn't seem to make a difference if I'm standing/sitting/laying. I will also note after 10+ years of migraines and very little helping them, Emgality has been the thing that has made my almost daily migraines go down to 1 or 2 a month and I'm 3 days out from my next injection which typically is when my head gets irritated so I think that's why my head is irritated and that it's not LP related but, I just wanted to make sure.
  4. Last question (for now lol), I've seen people recommend getting blood work frequently once on diamox. How do you go about this? My neuro-opt never called me once we got results - he just saw my OP was at 35 and sent in the medicine and I'm hoping to talk to him tomorrow to go over it a bit more but, do I need to advocate for regular blood work? If so, how often? What should I ask them to keep an eye on? I've seen too many people say their doctors didn't tell them about needing to drink more, get more potassium or electrolytes etc. so I want to make sure I'm prepared to fight for myself to try negating any possible side effects from taking diamox before I start.
Also whoever wrote the IIH packet on here - you're a Godsend. Thank you! Having all those notes is super helpful. šŸ«¶

2024.05.15 08:45 mycatsarepricks Bitterness hitting new heights

Bitterness towards City has been longstanding, though it is understandable; we got lucky with competent owners. However, it's now so toxic you have mainstream media blatantly using it to win public favour.
Last night's spurs game was peak bitterness, and it's actually unfair on others. A few examples:
There's probably a million other examples you can add. Trying to spill bitter over our experience, and getting paid while doing it. Only thing more annoying is the number of gambling ads on tv which is crippling society yet funding their wage packet.

2024.05.15 08:25 YaBoyTBG Is torbjorn bad? When is he viable? Torbjorn discussion

I've been a torb one trick for half of ow2 now. As the game has been going on he slowly has felt less and less impact full to me. As the game continues to speed up and require more consistent damage torb kind of stayed the same and at this moment in season 10 he feels almost useless even if they have a dive comp. Like when is he actually viable? Cassidy is just way stronger against dive characters due to his way more consistent damage and hinder. Junk or literally any other spam character I would consider way better at choke holding due to the mobility most of those heroes offer. Bastion or reaper are way better at tank melting which is another torb thing. Hell even sym seems to have stronger turrets as I just tickle people half the time. But don't get me wrong his turret is decent when u use it properly but tbh it literally dies in 2 shots and doesn't move so it's usually a miracle if it gets any uptime. It just feels like in every scenario other characters are better. I guess he can do it all in a way but not good enough to where it matters it feels like. Don't get me wrong in lower ranks I feel fine with him as the games are a lot more random but when my team mates are top 500's almost every game is Cassidy, souljurn, and tracer and the other team is a lot more coordinated. I can't go and flank torb since if they see my slow big hitbox ass I'm just feeding and even when I sit in the backline I'm not doing anything as I can't apply any aggression for my Frontline but put my self in deaths range against Cassidy or souljurn by just saying hi. Even dive comps destroy him as they're coordinated and they just destroy my turret and focus me first so I can't bully the tank. It feels like I'm just feeding every game by playing him at this point. When am I supposed to play torb then? I've played multiple games with other characters mainly cas and genji or pharah are the ones I think of rn but they just feel light years easier to get value with and I literally don't have to think as much. Characters like genji and pharaoh require a little bit of positioning but when I play people like souljurn Cassidy or soldier I might as well have been drooling out of my mouth. felt like a point and click adventure game with a bunch of pretty colors. I didn't think of positioning as anyone who challenged me was sorry because I can just kill them so quick. No thought about bullets needing to be somewhere as they go where u aim. Ults took a little bit of brain power but that's it.I climbed to almost top 500 recently and was steadily playing masters 4 games for a little but just recently got into a losing streak and am diamond 1. I just can't win anymore and idk if it's me or the character at this point. I'm determined to stay with my little torb but anytime I play literally any hitscan or almost any other character. I feel like I'm just doing "more". My main question here is am I wrong for wanting torb to be stronger along with the other characters? Am I weird for thinking he's one of the weakest characters and when is he actually a better pick compared to everyone else. Please answer my questions and maybe tell me again what to do to bring the most out of torb. I swear I've read all the reddits and watched all the guides on what to do with this character for every map and every character and every scenario but it doesn't feel to even matter. But BINGO!

2024.05.15 08:03 hinasilica Are my expectations too high or is this an issue?

Hey everyone! So I have always lived in high rise buildings with fantastic management, amenities, and maintenance. But I had a baby last year and decided it was time to move to a quieter and safer location. The apartment itself is very nice and has everything we need as a family, but it keeps having somewhat minor issues. Iā€™m genuinely not sure if these issues are to be expected and Iā€™m just spoiled, or are these real problems I need to address?
Iā€™m not sure if this matters, but this is a middle class, mildly upscale, complex with about 1500 townhouses and apartments split in smaller buildings, all gated and homey feeling. I will just go ahead and list the issues Iā€™ve had since May 1st.
  1. Power went out for about 20 mins. I called emergency maintenance and left a voicemail per my welcome packet instructions, no response or follow up on their end but power did come back on.
  2. May 4th I submitted a maintenance request because the dryer isnā€™t working, they came a day later and determined the knob was broken. They ordered parts, havenā€™t heard from them since. I have been using a power drill to turn the knob and use my dryer as thatā€™s the only way.
  3. The gas fireplace smokes and sets off the smoke alarms. They checked it out and used a C02 detector and said itā€™s not leaking. When I asked why it smokes and sets off alarms the maintenance man didnā€™t have an answer or offer to look at it more.
  4. The hot water is ā€œprivateā€(?), as in the tank is in my unit and only for my use idk Iā€™m not well versed in that stuff, but it canā€™t even fill a bath tub with hot water after no hot water being used for hours. This home has two extra large bathtubs and I have a baby so this one does really matter to me. Iā€™ve been going olden days with pots of boiling water to heat it up for my son.
  5. Breakers short out almost everyday. Not a huge inconvenience but it can be frustrating when I have the oven going and I donā€™t even realize the kitchen just turned off.
  6. Phone service in my home is unreasonably bad, but perfectly fine anywhere else in the community. I canā€™t have phone calls or use data at all in my home.
  7. Secondary bathtub (my bathtub since the master bath is in the room my son sleeps in) always spews out dark black specks when I initially run it. After it drains the remaining specks leave black smears on the tub, they come off with magic eraser.
Am I overreacting and this is all just part of living in more of a townhouse situation? Is this complete bs and I should make a big deal out of it?

2024.05.15 05:59 Inevitable_Orange342 SOC L1 path Advice

Hi Everyone. I have made a path for myself on becoming a L1 SOC. Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I'll try to keep it short. I started my masters in cybersecurity in Fall 2023 and will graduate in May 2025.
Completed November 2023- Google cybersecurity by Coursera Jan 15th- cleared Security + March 2nd - Cleared BTL1 and SOC Level path from TryHackMe May 3rd- cleared CDSA by HacktheBox.
Below are my goals and objectives for the coming year 1- clear CCNA by July 1st week(I should have gotten a networking cert before but I made a mistake) Don't wanna do Network + over CCNA. 2- Clear CYSA + by September 1st week 3- complete a full Blown SOC home lab that includes splunk, lima Charlie, and much more. (Taking some help from Eric Capuano's blog) 4- Do another practical Blue team Cert probably CCD by December 2nd week.
Apart from this I actively participate in online platform like BTLO to hone my skills. Probably going to do BTLO till June end and then shift to TCM Security Labs. I tried getting a summer internship but couldn't. :(
I made my university CTF team as well so we participate every week in different ctf competitions.
As for my experience, this is somewhere I lack unfortunately. I only have 4 months of technical support internship and 3 months of Data Analyst. Did my bachelors in Mechanical engineering.
If you have read this far I greatly appreciate it. :)

2024.05.15 04:03 Stoic_hawaiian808 Character you used to despise but enjoy now?

What is one OW character you despised at first but ended up enjoying after learning said character?
I used to hate Lucios (not the healbot lucios but Lucios that can go on the offensive side of things). I mainly played as DPS and Tank when I first started OW2 a year and a half ago. With the only support character Iā€™ve played being Zen for his DPS-like capabilities. I know , thatā€™s silly but Iā€™ve shredded teams playing as that metallic monk. Normally , I would shred through healbot lucios who couldnā€™t wallrun or boop to save their life. But..I would run into some Lucios whose wallrun was too cool and calculated. And those Lucios most certainly wasnā€™t afraid of a fight. I will not lie, some of my rage inducing moments comes from a Lucio who knows what theyā€™re doing and is good with his aim. So months ago Iā€™ve decided to pick him up since I had started practicing playing support so I can play all roles if any of mates wanted to switch out. I will not lie. It was a tough learning curve for me learning Lucio. It took me a good 2 weeks to adjust to the characterā€™s play style, capabilities, weaknesses, strengths, and more importantly, his wall run mechanics. Now Iā€™ve got over 40 hours of playtime on Lucio at the current time of this post. And I love playing as him now when Iā€™m support because Iā€™ve gotten his wallrun mechanics down to the point where I was able to successfully do the infamous Lijang tower rollout (only once lol) , having resulted in me booping an enemy rein and tracer off the bridge. Iā€™ve gotten myself out of sticky situations thanks to his wall run and speed, kept my teammates healed and weā€™ve even been able to make some team plays with my ult/speed mechanic. I especially love displacing enemies with the boop or just overall booping them off an edge into oblivion. Most notable accomplishments Iā€™ve achieved as Lucio was successfully doing the Lijang tower rollout once, having done 17k heals as the most amount of heals Iā€™ve done as a Lucio , and having gotten 25 elims one match.

2024.05.15 02:29 That-Ad-2588 Figuring out the best worldwide location for low latency server placement

Hi, we have multiple servers across a few different countries and our users are worldwide. We are wanting to add a new server to be able to reduce the latency. I don't have access to the current servers to analyse the packets from there. They all respond to the same IP address via anycast.
This is what I'm planning to do:
  1. Get a bunch of free HTTP/SOCKS VPNs around the world and connect to them (e.g. 123.123.123.123)
  2. While connected, conduct a ping test to the VPN server, to measure the time it takes from my PC to VPN server and back
  3. While connected, conduct a ping test to thw anycast address
Take 3 minus 2 and we get the supposedly latency from that ASN.
From there, we can identify which ASNs supposedly have the highest latency from ping responses, and deploy a server there.
Is there anything I'm missing here?

2024.05.15 02:29 sweater_on24 Interview day NYS DOCCS

I literally had my medical/agility/investigation interview for NYS DOCCS a couple days ago. Before I went I was so curious as to what to expect so hereā€™s how the day went for those applying currently.
Remember the entire day youā€™re there is part of the interview. Make sure you follow all the instructions including whatā€™s written on your paperwork. The staff is always watching. I made sure to say hi and thank you to everyone I met regardless of what their job duty was and I did it with a smile.
First, you do the medical (pee test, hearing, EKG, eye exam and blood test). Then you meet with a physician to go over your medical evaluation. Then youā€™ll do the agility test. The only ā€œdifficultā€ part of the job is the 3 min step test. As long as you donā€™t quit or stumble, theyā€™ll pass you. Just donā€™t quit!!
After all that youā€™ll meet with your assigned investigator. Theyā€™ll go over your packet line for line making sure everything was filled out and answered appropriately. And that was it. They didnā€™t even ask any personality questions like why you want to be a CO or ask about any experiences in careers related to the job.
Once thatā€™s done they discuss the process and say no news is good news. My investigator said the process takes about 3-6 months but Iā€™ve been reading people are getting called within 2 weeks. So now itā€™s just a waiting game. Good luck to everyone!

2024.05.15 01:58 atlas_fumbled The ultimate sand witch

Finally got around to experimenting with the new Inaros kit and stumbled into my new favorite build - Kitty summoner wisp.
Using the dessication subsume and augment (over her 2) you can summon 5 swarm kavats to spread scarab swarm and infinitely resummon as long as you kill swarm afflicted units.
The kavats pick up the shock mote buff and the zaps spread the swarm very quickly. Combined with breach surge it is a bit of a graphical charlie foxtrot. Overall a very easy setup and you can run pretty much any weapon you want - having an absolute blast using the swarm tics as tracer rounds while my possy of pussies overruns everything.
Having no issues in steel path but I'm sure you have to rely on her stealth for survivability in endurance.
Credit to aznvasions for breaking down the mechanic, definitely recommend checking it out!

2024.05.15 01:37 throwawayfood_1020 People completely miss the point about why tank players are frusterated with orisa, hog and mauga

TL:DR: Playing any dive/rush tank is absolutely miserable as a solo queue experience because their counters require less skill from the opposition and more team coordination from your own teammates
I am seeing a lot of frustration with these static tanks of Orisa, Hog and Mauga from tank players and the community as a whole completely missing why we are frustrated from the ladder experience. I will first discuss why tank players (a small minority given the queue times and statistics we've seen in the past) enjoy certain tanks and the give a flow chart dialogue of what the community expects from their tank player when confronted with static tanks.
1) Dive and rush tanks are fun because they demand thoughtful positioning.
Tanks in OW2 are balanced around highlighting fine tuning these 3 characteristics: mobility, damage and sustainability. We can see that in dive tanks (Winston, DVA, Ball, Doomfist), which trade the other 2 for mobility. Their gameplan is to focus on punishing the enemy positioning by either breaking up enemy clusters or quickly helping with their own team backline. It's a dynamic class of characters that is exciting because of the quick decisions required to be made based on the state of the fight. Rush tanks (Rein, Ram, JQ, Zarya) trade the others in for damage. Though their playstyle requires a bit of set-up to get into the right position to start the brawl, this class of tanks are rewarded by the exciting moment of the fight unleashing onto the enemy. The third class of tanks (Sigma, Hog, Orisa, Mauga) focus on sustaining themselves theoretically in exchange for the other two characteristics, but fail to do so in reality (except for Sigma, who actually has drawbacks in his kit (range, damage) for being able to have a flexible shield, stun and kinetic grasp). The lack of ranged damage should be what stops them, but this drawback doesn't matter because not only can all 3 of the remainder tanks effectively still poke at a distance, they excel the most at close quarters which is the range at which ALL tanks need to be at. The dive tanks and rush tanks are punished for their efforts of taking positioning due to this third class of tanks being able to poke better than them, and then also punish them for coming close. Hog is theoretically supposed to be held back by his lack of range, but his damage reduction lets him brush off the entire team EVEN with an Ana nade (which this argument doesn't even consider Kiriko). Sure Hog can miss his hook, but engagement is still risky because going closer to him only plays into his strong shotgun. Mauga still remains strong (albeit perhaps not as strong as Hog and Orisa) because of his free disengage tool that lets him escape with literally no consequence and his lifesteal makes him unkillable especially when your tank is engaging with him. Combined with the tank passives, this third class of tanks are not only unkillable, you can't even farm ult charge off of them! Whereas dive and rush tanks gain no value from not engaging, the sustain tanks still can poke and benefit even more when they are engaged upon by the other team. Whereas other tanks demand thought in positioning in order to not take unnecessary damage, this class of tanks can, for the most part, be static with their team and not need to take risks because their firepower will easily outlast the other tanks' abilities to engage/disengage.
2) What can be done?
So here I'm going to write a couple suggestions provided by this community in response to dealing with this static class of tanks and then write a flow chart of decisions that are made. (this is assuming anything team-dependant actually goes your way)
A. Suppose you ask the support to switch to Ana and Zen
This further encourages a poke-fest and further benefits the sustain tanks because now you may have potentially lowered your team's healing output. Whether its attack or defense, this situation benefits the enemy team because they can just "outstall" your options.
B. Suppose you ask one of the dps to switch to Echo
Now the enemy team acknowledges you and runs double hitscan to really make sure there's no fun allowed. Now if you did both the first option and this one, then the team struggles even more because of the dps passive. Furthermore, in the first 2 cases, you're forced to further rely on your team to not play out of position as well because despite having an "advantage" with the character choice, one small mistake can lead to a hook, spear, stun that will lead to that player's immediate death.
C. Switch to sustain tank yourself
Well then why would I not start with this in the first place? Let me forgo my will in all of this and become a damage sponge so that in the poke-fest my team can potentially win. The tank is for the most part removed from any decision making because I just stand there, relatively risk free, and poking away until something gives. It is unbelievable that everybody gets to play to go for a kill, but a single person is devoted to doing everything then can to just stay alive and earn the ability to play the game. Why even enjoy the other tanks if all roads lead to Orisa, Hog and Mauga?
D. Play in a stack
I guess I should just schedule rank sessions because that is the amount of dedication I should be putting into a video game. I apologize for my lack of respect to the game and for my inability to find and lead teammates I can call my own.
3) Conclusion
The tank passive completely negates any penalty for playing the sustain tanks, and remove any form of enjoyment from playing other tanks that demand more active decision making. They are the only class of tanks that can reap benefits from both active and passive gameplay, a luxury that the others do not have whatsoever. I personally find it ridiculous that all characters have checks and balances that don't entirely demand on the team (DVA for pharah/echo or Winston, Winston for tracegenji or Sigma, Rein for hitscan or Zarya) yet the only true ability to deal with sustain tank as a tank player is to mirror! I apologize to those I've played with for not playing a static tank when I am being hard countered because I don't want to just gun go brr. To the argument of how pro-play shows that these characters are not dominant, I say: I thought this game wasn't balanced around numbers and pros? It's absolutely frustrating not being allowed to play active tanks, and then further maddening when the community talks about how "simple" the solutions are.
PS. I completely agree with that guy that posted about how OW2 devs definitely are catering towards the sustain tanks because the majority of the playerbase can't seem to play without a tank holding their hand.

2024.05.15 01:18 AcuallyIsGooby Great connection, terrible gaming

Hi folks, I don't want to bore you with a long story but I feel it's unavoidable in order to explain my situation thoroughly so I'll start with bullets to give an overview of what my console is telling me.
Story: before I moved out of my parents place in 2018 I had this same issue, NAT type switching from open to moderate over and over, with open still presenting the same issues (almost as if it's actually moderate all the time despite displaying as open) and I never managed to get it working, my Dad runs his business from home and he is the network administrator, he assures me everything is fine with the router and settings. UPnP on, zero config etc
But nothing I do will fix the problem.
I move out, get my own router and everything, and it just works straight out of the box. Finally I have smooth online gaming without any lag issues (network speeds are identical to my parents place) 5 years of smooth gaming pass and sadly I'm forced to move back in with my parents, who now live somewhere else, but have the same network config as they did before.
Now I'm back in their new house and I'm having the same issues again, on both wired and wireless connections. Since I last lived with them my console now has the QoS tagging settings which 'appears' to resolve the issue when I test my NAT type and connection, but it doesn't, the issue persists - I can't hear audio in party chat clearly, it's distorted. I get a constant latency warning when trying to play multiplayer, despite my network speed being fine. I feared I would have this problem again before moving back in and my worst fears have been confirmed. I had to deal with this from 2009 when I was 16 trying to play modern warfare 2 with my buddies, and it continued until I left home in 2018. Hardware has been upgraded, replaced, even ISP has changed in that time and yet, whenever I'm at my parents place I have this issue.
I'm at a loss of what to do, is this anything to do with mesh WiFi? Because on paper the only difference between our networks is that here they're using 'Tenda Nova' brand mesh WiFi system and I wasn't - we have the same ISP and even the same tarrif too.
I cannot find the source of the issue and it's driving me nuts because I'm the only one in the house who is negatively affected by it so nobody else really cares. Every other device including my phone works fine, it's only my Xbox. I help run a sim racing league on Assetto Corsa and I've been unable to partake in any races since I moved back in, this sucks because it's my main hobby and every week I have to watch them all racing live on twitch knowing I can't even connect.
If anyone can suggest anything to help me out here I'd be eternally grateful, it's gonna be a long year if I can't relax and play games in the evenings after work :(
Something is definitely wrong with the network settings somewhere, because my own 'vanilla' network worked just fine
Thank you for reading my post, happy to answer any questions that I'm able to
