2024.05.15 08:04 NerdKing01 Are Yakuza Games Even Fun?

I just gotta level with you guys, are Yakuza games even fun? Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the Yakuza games, but are they even really good games in the first place? I'm sitting here on my Yakuza 5 playthrough just contemplating life because I've raged about bullshit in every single one of the games up to this point, and idk if these games are even as good as we make them out to be.
The minigames are fucking bullshit and I despise them. I'm not talking about simple minigames like the Karaoke or the Cabaret clubs because I adore those minigames, I'm talking about the miserable slogs of minigames like golfing in Yakuza 2, Pool in Yakuza 5, or any fucking time there was Mahjong in a Yakuza game. Seriously, I've set up Mahjong calculators out of sheer frustration to try to beat those minigames and the calculators won't even help me win. Almost all of those games are pure RNG bullshit and are just meant to waste your time and infuriate you. It's absolutely excrutiating when the game roadblocks you and makes you either fork over money or play their minigames too, because it feels like a slap in the face.
Why on God's green earth do they think that creating "hard" enemies mean that they have to either create characters where they cross of half of your mechanics or they just fill a room with stunlocking enemies? I see practically everybody throughout the fanbase complain about this because its bullshit. I work my ass off to get all these upgrades and skills, and then some random nobody that walked in during a cutscene can't be blocked, can't be grabbed, can't be Heat action'd, can literally start their combo while you're attacking them, and they have super armor. I dont think there's a single Yakuza game where there isn't someone like this in there and it drives me insane, especially Lao Ka Long in Yakuza 3 because that's when I was recognizing the trend and was sick of it. And then there's boss fights where they just dump enemies with guns into a small space with you because guns are the only thing that can definitively stop you. Why can't they just let us be overpowered like the game intended for us uo to that point? The final bosses from Yakuza 1 and 4 did this and I often hear Yakuza 4 being called the worst final boss of the series. Luckily I didn't have a ton of issues with that fight because Tanimura's grappling is godtier and saved my ass the whole fight (I had much more of a problem with Saejima's fight because of that stupid kid's super armor street fighter combo), but seriously, why do they make the fights downright unfair just to make artificial difficulty? The only time they somewhat rectified this was in Yakuza 2 Kiwami with that godlike armor that makes Kiryu auto-block bullets. I got lit up with a machine gun in that game and he tanked the whole thing with his forearms. That was a good memory in my eyes.
And finally, its just the lazy writing at points. I don't mind the whole rubber bullets plot point in 4 or the secret brother plot point in 3, but seriously, why is it that in EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. Kiryu or someone else doesnt just kick a gun away from a villain and just walks away with their back turned, only for the scumlord villain to leap back up with the gun and end up shooting someone who the character was shielded by. We lost quite literally every interesting character that isn't one of the few main characters this way, and at this point the trope just pisses me off. Yakuza 2 even went crazy by doing it twice. Its almost as obnoxious as the fact that there is a Kiryu fakeout death at the end of all of the Yakuza games but 0, but I was surprised to see that Yakuza 4 broke the trend. Literally, I'm sticking with the games because I adore the story. I want to be having fun with all of this, but I cant lie to myself and say this is fun when I'm constantly irritated by shit decisions the developers continue to make. Idk, do people share in these opinions, or am I just going crazy? I'm going to keep playing the games because I'm going to finish the story, but other people are frustrated with this crap as well, aren't they?

2024.05.15 08:02 gotintocollegeyolo Buff Iso by making his wall block projectiles

Iso is by far the weakest agent in the game, so let's take a look on how he could get buffed. It's rather difficult to buff Iso to be honest, because there are rather limited ways to do so:
Which brings me to really the most obvious ability to buff: Iso's wall. The wall is just bad. There's no use sugarcoating it. It's one of the worst, if not the worst, abilities in the game. Why is it so bad? One of the reasons is because you can't stop it whenever you want like Harbor's wall. This makes it almost completely useless on defense, as you can't block off a chokepoint with it to delay/stop an execute. It also lasts a pretty short amount of time at just 4.6 seconds when fully formed and is narrower than Harbor's wall.
This leads to most people suggesting the wall be buffed to work like Harbor's wall where Iso could stop it anytime he wants. However, I don't like this idea and I don't think Riot likes it either because it takes away from the uniqueness of both Iso and Harbor's walls. Other basic ideas include making the wall wider or having it last longer. These basic ideas could definitely be good changes, but I propose that Riot should lean into the anti-bullet shield idea of the wall and also make it block projectiles. This would work like the buy phase barrier where projectiles such as Killjoy mollies, Raze nades, Sova darts, really any projectile would just bounce off the wall.
I believe this change could make Iso viable even in coordinated pro play. In fact, this buff may have the biggest impact in pro play but would be a great buff across the board at all elos.
For starters, this would make Iso much better on defense. As soon as a site exec starts, Iso can just drop the wall and suddenly the Sova dart bounces back in Sova's face, the Viper molly drops to the floor, etc., etc.
This buff would also have the funny additional benefit of denying lineups. When you see that Brim molly flying at the spike, just throw the wall and suddenly the lineup misses and you can stick the defuse.
But the greatest impact might just be that this change could maybe make Iso viable on Lotus. In my opinion, Lotus was already one of Iso's better maps in ranked as it is one of the few maps where his wall in its current state can be useful on attack. It's decent at denying the default C long peek while your team takes mound. B site is one of the only sites where the wall can actually be fully utilized to cover waterfall while you exec because it's such a short site. Iso also has some decent plays on defense as his vulnerable is very useful to combo with a Raze nade every round on defense to fight A, and it is not as valuable as an Omen flash so you could always do it every round (plus he has two of them).
The Lotus meta has always been to heavily fight for A rubble control. Some teams always do it, some teams do it less, but all teams do it pretty frequently and have multiple set plays for fighting A rubble. Even during ranked games across all ranks people know to fight for it on defense, throwing Raze nades and Omen blinds.
If Iso's wall was buffed to reflect projectiles, he would be extremely valuable on Lotus attack as he could throw the wall on A every round to completely shut down any defender aggression. The wall serves a dual purpose as you and your team can get across to rubble for free behind cover. You would essentially get easy rubble control every round for 200 credits.
If we're talking specifically pro scene, having that free rubble control may already be enough to make Iso a niche pick. However, this could also have the added benefit of allowing teams to switch from Omen to Brim as their primary controller. Some teams already have shown that they prefer Brim, such as NRG or Navi, although it is still considered a niche pick. One reason teams go for Omen is because of how good the Omen flash can be for fighting for A. However, if teams used Iso they could use the Iso vulnerable instead and also pick Brim without having to sacrifice all of the capabilities of the Omen flash.
As a final note, I know that some people will probably complain about how it is too OP if you can just drop a wall and completely shut down a Raze rocket or Deadlock ult, but do remember that a simple Kayo knife can already do that.

2024.05.15 08:02 DevThaGodfatha How the fuck do you fight Gilgamesh?

His movements are so goddamn wacky, have so many status effects, and super inconsistent/weird block timings that I cannot just get good fighting against him in one side mission scenario AND Outer Worlds. I’ve already beat him by stroke of luck the first time, but with no way to constantly prepare myself for his weird ass area of effect attacks and whatever, I cannot beat him in a fucking boss gauntlet like Outer Worlds, I’ve been on it for an hour now.
That’s completely preposterous. I’ve rematch Odin ENDLESSLY til I can beat him with any 3 on the roster, I can even beat him with Cloud alone, repeatedly, without reprieve, Phoenix for Arise, no Reraise , with only like 4 pieces of Materia. I made myself get better and adapt at fighting him. All his zatsu fuck yous, the fact he can activate gjallerhorn just off 1-2 contacts with the COMPUTER, not YOU but the CPU controlling the others in the party, I made myself adapt. But for some reason it’s like Gilgamesh is intended to be the boss of the game that you’re supposed to have the LEAST preparation for , and if that’s actually true then fuck you Enix.

2024.05.15 08:01 SharkEva WIBTA if I turned down a promotion due to my original transfer being blocked?

I am not the OOP. The OOP is u/Used-Register3714 posting in AITA_WIBTA_PUBLIC
Ongoing as per OOP
2 updates - Long
Original - 2nd March 2024
Update1 - 14th April 2024
Update2 - 11th May 2024

WIBTA if I turned down a promotion due to my original transfer being blocked?

WIBTA? Little back story, I started working for a company in early 2022 as what they labeled as Admin, but don't let that fool you we were no admins, we worked 3 different departments that they combined into one with 3 people to cover everything, plus we were constantly fixing Customer Service mistakes.
Nov 2022 I met with the director of the Benefits Dept at work because I was interested in transferring and we went over the department, what the job entails and what I could start working on to better my chances at transferring. I checked in with the director many times as I finished different tasks such as completing the training courses, shadowing members of the team, and taking part in live trainings.
Early 2023 the director got a promotion to be the director of another department. In March a spot opened up in Benefits and it was a little outside what I knew, it was more a specialized position, but I still applied. I met with a few managers and the new director for interviews. We discussed many things and it was a positive experience, they were even happy with the steps that I had taken with the previous director. However, because it was such a specialized position they didn't want to throw me into the deep end, so they told me to apply for a different position when it opened up.
In May the other position opened up and I applied and basically skipped the interviews. The director and I meet and we discussed getting me transferred and doing it in a hybrid type manner. That worked for me and it worked for my current manager at the time too. Sadly, it feel through and I could never seem to get an answer as to why. It started out as budget reasons, totally understandable, but then it switched to not having troubleshooting knowledge that I would have if I had worked in Customer Service.
I had meeting with my (admin) manager and director, she covers both admin and customer service, I asked more clarifying questions as to why the transfer fell through but no one could give me a straight answer. We developed a plan to get me transferred to Benefits that caused me to route through Customer Service. I was transferred into Customer Service in November 2023.
Our CS team is split into basically 2 levels, 1 being online requests which is where everyone starts. You work a variety of requests and can gain a lot of knowledge. This is currently where I am. The second level is working the phones and helping the people that call in. This is more limited subject matter and can also carry a lot of "downtime" as they cannot work the online requests like the first level can because they will be on and off the phone all day.
Here is where I am wondering if I WIBTA. I have figured out, though not confirmed, that my directors boss is the one that blocked my transfer back in May and she is just a bitch/micromanager in general. Now someone from out phone team is leaving and it has been hinted that I might be the next one to move up. While it would come with a pay increase, not a lot or enough for the crap that we go through, I don't want it because I see it as more detrimental to me possibly transferring to my preferred department.
WIBTA if I said no because it would do more harm than good. Then turning around and asking how much longer I needed to be in the Customer Service department before I could apply to another position in the Benefits Dept?
Maybe helpful to also know that my customer service manager is not the best, she seems to bow down the the micromanager and she can't seem to manage a team of 10ish people, nor was she able to do half her job for moths and my admin manager was the one doing her work.

They're screwing you around. If you're good at your current role they don't want to move you. You could tell them that they transfer you or you leave, but they probably don't care about you much. Alternatively, just coast along, do what you must to keep management off your back and find a new job.
OOP: I've been thinking about coasting and just working my job description. Our phone team is technically down one person, and we have to help cover the missing persons time on phones. It's split, between most of us that work the first level. I might come out of that meeting with no phone time because it's not part of my job and you are probably right they don't want to move me because of that.

RndmIntrntStranger
NTA you do not have to stay at a job where you feel like you’re not growing/moving up. do not let any employer trick you into thinking that you owe it to them to stay there if it no longer works out for you. time to update your resume and start job hunting to see what’s out there.
OOP: Already started. I even interviewed for the same company that my coworker is joining. It will be interesting if we end up working together again.

Update - 6 weeks later

So I was an idiot and decided to take the promotion. Not my finest moment.
However, things have taken a turn for the interesting.
A week after I took the promotion another team that I have been interested in but never thought I could work in tapped me to transfer to their team. I ended up reaching out to our HR team to gather some guidance and spoke with our recruiter that works internally and externally.
He gave me some good pointers and helped me navigate how to best approach the conversation. The conversation then turned to my manager and I let him know all the issues I've been having with her, including not approving PTO till timecards are being turned in amongst other issues. Turns out I am not the first person to bring these concerns forward and HR is actively looking into the situation.
I ended up having a conversation with my manager the following week and from the start of the conversation I knew it wouldn't have the outcome I was hoping for based off of her body language. And I was right, even with laying everything out I was denied my managers blessing because I just moved tiers.
But the fun part of all of this is that she tried to pull the 6-month rule as to why I couldn't apply. The 6-month rule is part of our handbook. "You have to be in your position for 6-months before you can transfer internally for non-exempt employees." I asked my manager to get us clarification since we both had different understanding of the rule.
I know position could be tier, however I asked our HR team and the said position is department based. A better wording would be in my department for 6-months.
The following week she director was out so can't do anything that week so the following week I asked for a follow up. Guess who forgot to follow up with me. Not the first time she has done this. She is now saying it is tier based and I have to be in my position for a YEAR.
I reached back out to HR and we are now looping in the head of HR to talk about this.

rendar1853
Why did you take the promotion when you knew this person was playing games with your career?
OOP: Believe me I am pissed at myself for taking it. I have been a people pleaser for so long and it's something I've been improving on and I was caught in a weak moment. I did have some hope that the agreement that was in place before this person became my manager would be honored but I was naive to think so.
I can always back out of the new position if need be, which I have been think about.

Magdovus
Ask HR if you can apply for jobs in the other department as an external candidate instead of an internal one. When they ask why tell them that quitting and reapplying seems to be the only way to avoid your current department managers trying to ruin your career.
OOP: This is a thought that I have. Going to wait and see what happens with my next meeting with HR. They seem supportive of my transfer so they may be able to pull some strings to make it happen, but this is on my radar.

Update - 1 month later

So it has been a month of back and forth, and we still don’t technically have a resolution but I thought I might give a quick update.
After our director was back I reached out to my manager to ask if they had received clarification and they said: “if you move tiers your clock restarts and I have to be in my department for a year”. That still didn’t sit right with me, I had previously contacted HR as a minor inquiry if the clock was tier or department and they had said department.
I reached back out to the head of our HR team and set up a meeting so that we could discuss this. In that meeting, HR agreed with me and said that they would speak with the director to get clarification on what was going on and she would get back to me by the end of the week. She did and told me straight up that I met the tenure requirements to be able to apply for a transfer. Now I was supposed to get an update but it was postponed due to people being out of the office and things like that. But I finally got the update last week. They are saying no for two reasons now, I don’t meet the requirements of the job, such as a degree, and performance. But my performance has never been addressed. When I have made mistakes, I informed and the mistakes never happened again.
As for the degree thing, that can be worked around, and that is something that the manager or that team is working on for me.
But now they are saying that it is a big concern of theirs. My question at this point is if it was such a big concern why was that not brought up from the beginning? Why were we only discussing my tenure as the reason that I couldn’t apply?
Honestly, I almost quit in that meeting right there. The only reason that I am even thinking of staying is that the team that I would be transferring to is amazing and I already know how they operate and I already work closely with them.
I should be having another meeting next week with the manager and director and I am going to likely loop in HR as well.
I have decided that if I am blocked from applying I will be leaving and I will be citing that as well as many other reasons as to why I am leaving. The least of which is the fact that I now know that the director has gone and bad-mouthed an employee to another manager that someone was hoping to transfer over to.
Edit to add: I just spoke with a coworker who left a few weeks ago. They pulled the same things with him. He wanted to go to another department but they had a meeting with him saying that they saw him on a different path, one that kept him in the department. He said they did that to our other coworker who left just before him too.

2024.05.15 07:50 applesarentmything WIBTA For Telling A Taken Guy I Love Him?

For over 2 years, I've been into this guy, Sam. It all started back when we were in the same class, about 630 days ago. At first, he had this bowl-cut hairdo and always wore a mask, so I couldn't even see his face properly. I thought it was just a passing crush, nothing serious. But as I got to know him more, I realized my feelings were deeper than I thought. Then came the drama. There was this girl, Ava, who told me Sam wasn't interested in me, and knowing I liked him, she turned around and started dating him herself! Throughout all of this, Sam kept sending mixed signals my way. He'd ask about my relationship status, want us to match profile pictures, and even confide in me about his insecurities. The man asked me to stay up with him! And then, just when I thought things might go somewhere, he drops the bomb that he's in love with someone else. And surprise, surprise, it's not me. It's some other girl who's darker, shorter, and prettier. Great. After that, I was pretty down in the dumps, especially since I've always been self-conscious about my height. I decided I wouldn't tell Sam that year. When we came back from summer break, I switched classes, but my feelings for Sam didn't go away. If anything, they got stronger. He'd grown a few inches, ditched the mask, and even grown out his hair below his jaw. And here's the kicker: I found myself even more head over heels for him. I asked the teacher to seat me next to him in my afterschool classes, but then she got fired a month after doing it. Anyway, after winter break this year, I got a wake-up call bringing me to the realization I had to do something. I couldn't keep obsessing over Sam without at least trying to tell him how I felt. So, I decided to spill the beans at the end of the school year. I had three months left; it seemed doable. But life just loves throwing curveballs. I found out Sam had a new girlfriend named Kayla. Turns out she used to go to our school, but switched somewhere else for the year with plans to come back the next. It felt like the universe was playing a joke on me. And to add insult to injury, Kayla started following me on Instagram. I put up a post with some lyrics about unrequited love, and she had the nerve to respond with a snarky comment. She started making threats, and I wasn't about to back down. I fired back with KillBill (SZA) and eventually blocked her. Now, I'm stuck in this dilemma. I've been crushing on Sam for what feels like forever, and it feels pathetic to keep it to keep complaining. Plus, I'm switching schools the year after next year, so time is running out. On top of that, Kayla and her friends are part of a clique that are well-known bops, who get active. I'm worried about getting jumped, but staying silent isn't an option anymore. I need to get this off my chest, even if it means facing the consequences.

2024.05.15 07:48 laurenlo26 CMV: The #blockout2024 “movement” is ridiculous and hurtful

I’ll start off and say I’m an American liberal & although I can’t even begin to understand totality of the the generational conflict between Palestine & Israel, it needs to stop and I do NOT support us funding Israel in the conflict in any way.
On to the topic: I see these people on TikTok and Instagram with perfectly manicured eyebrows safely sitting in their nice looking cars or houses with an iced coffee with all the privilege they don’t even understand they have preaching about how we should block Zendaya, Taylor Swift, the Kardashians, Amy Shumer, The Rock, Kevin Hart, etc in solidarity because they haven’t said anything against Israel. Not because they are NOT supporting Palestine—they just haven’t said anything.
And I get it, celebrities have millions of dollars. It’s easy to be jealous of that. I certainly am sometimes. But they aren’t politicians. They aren’t in control. I doubt majority of the people in Israel/Palestine even know half of the celebrities people are harassing.
And this #blockout2024 “movement” is ubsurd because of that. I saw a video of celebrities at the Met Gala juxtaposed with images of people grieving their dead children in Palestine while the “Hanging Tree” from Hunger Games was playing in the background. Is it gross that people are that rich and can afford wild dresses for a night out while humans in a different area in the world are starving or trying to survive after getting bombed? Yes. It’s abhorrent. It sucks. But also, are those celebrities openly cheering and betting on the deaths of innocent children like the people of the Capitol did in the Hunger Games. No, they’re not.
If you really want to make a difference, don’t block celebrities and spam them with #freepalestine on their photos. Do you really think a mother with a dead child in her arms in Palestine will give a shit that you blocked Chris Hemsworth on Instagram and made some dumb viral video about how great you are? Absolutely not. Go out and make a REAL difference and grow up.
Change my mind.

2024.05.15 07:45 No-Upstairs7333 ABYG kung nagdesisyon na agad ako at hindi na ayusin?

Long post ahead
Hello, my gf and I broke up days ago. This is the first time I’m starting to lose interest in everything, I always tried to escape in games but this time I get tired of it too so I want to let this out.
She tried ghosting me, I was lucky I followed my instinct to kinda hack my way in to her messenger and found out about it (read a chat with one of her friends) even if it meant I invaded her privacy.
I’m not perfect, we had our ups and downs, I had red flags and she did too. The reason I read why she was leaving me was because she said she deserves peace of mind, I was not respecting her anymore, rude words whenever we had argument and the silent treatment that she wanted me to change and she said that I did not change, she gave me a chance and she is done and she is spent. Yes, that is true I am guilty of it, I am trying to change, but it is still not enough or she saw too little of it, definitely my fault.
But then I also found out that she was talking to her guy friend she met at the same dating app that she met me in. (I was not able to see the messages and no sign of it because of the new encryption of messenger).
I don’t know how long they have been chatting, I have no access to her social media account. As to how I found is that I only saw a few in her email and this is not accurate idk how or why meta sends this email and not all messages she receives in messenger are emailed to notify, only a few. There was 5 emails in different dates this month that notifies she received a message in her messenger from this guy.
I thought we were still okay this past month, although I noticed some changes that she doesn’t want me to hug her anymore for long when sleeping or cuddling, saying that it is hot. She is getting cold in the chat, I always tried to be lively in the chat but it was not as it was how it supposed to be. I ignored this knowing she is busy with her work.
Days before our break up, she met with the guy she was talking to after work. She did ask for permission from me and the reason is it was all just about catching up with one another and “Kaibigan niya lang”. I agreed even if I did not really want to because I was complacent we had an app that is called life360 and I can check up on her wherever she is going. This did not go well for me, as I was monitoring the app from time to time, I thought it was cancelled as her location never moved from her house. Later that day I asked her about it and she told me it was not cancelled and that she left her phone at home and only brought her sister’s phone. I was kinda mad and it resulted to me ignoring her.
I did not know that this was the start of her ghosting me, she also ignored me and let it pass, I messaged her asking for something like to start a conversation again and make it up again. But she still ignored me. And this was when I did it, going through her messenger and email. I also tried checking on some of her social media platform, I found out she has a threads account which I did not know that she had one. I saw there her 2 posts that caught my attention. It says “You are one of a kind”, and the other “In another life, maybe we met each other earlier then I would love you” posted this month, one that is days ago and one that is weeks ago. It was definitely not for me.
I felt angry with all that I found out. As she was ignoring me in social medias, I emailed her to confront her and tell that I found out that she was ghosting me and all the other things, some insults as to how the guy is just a friend despite all the things I learned of, and if it was me in her place and did it, I bet her reaction would be worse. I also said that it is the last time she will hear from me whatever she says.
She did replied saying that there is no need to explain to me and it is okay if I think that she is cheating and the post on her threads were not meant for that guy.
So it was meant for someone else? Another guy I do not know of? A quick thought that popped in my mind.
I ignored her, blocked her on everything, I did not try to fix it anymore. Did I do the right thing, I wanted to fix it but with all that I learned of, it was too much for me.
With everything that I found out there is still a question in my mind.
The question now in my mind is if that I’m the real reason or did she really cheated or maybe both…. Now my emotions are being mixed with anger whenever I think about it.

Parallels between Dark Souls 2 and Elden Ring - the lands
I've compiled lists (there was supposed just one, but reddit limits blocked me) of parallels that fans have drawn between Elden Ring and Dark Souls 2, along with brief commentaries and illustrations on the patterns they may have observed.
https://preview.redd.it/u50do8mjsi0d1.png?width=2000&format=png&auto=webp&s=00d9b786a6f5b1e0dba7781354efa6d679ea0f5d
As the IGN interview said, Dark Souls II is more open world, much like Elden Ring, than the other games in the Dark Ring series.

The Lands Between in Elden Ring has an ethereal & transitional nature and Things Betwixt in Dark Souls 2 is an inter-spacial cave.
https://preview.redd.it/ood1pze6si0d1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=e70746dfc129c8e38ddf3ac84ee14a524cf56db3

The snowy, storm-swept Consecrated Snowfield of Elden Ring evokes the treacherous Frigid Outskirts of Dark Souls 2, with both areas challenging players to navigate blinding blizzards while facing off against powerful enemies.
https://preview.redd.it/k31f4tcrti0d1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=64e1ca16cb71034b7ca815b0c99d4e7652b8774f
Crumbling Farum Azula and the Dragon Aerie in Dark Souls 2 (Aldia, who researched the past, may have had a hand in creating the site) are both mazelike areas filled with dragons and aerial, draconic imagery.
https://preview.redd.it/pl5ta14dti0d1.png?width=1240&format=png&auto=webp&s=6065b765680380a8579ac8e098c5ed3df08e80e6
Both Leyndell and Lindelt from DS2 are grand capitals steeped in faith, draconic imagery, and connections to lightning and sacred trees, with their strikingly similar names hinting at a shared reverence for nature's divine forces. “The Erdtree was once as warm as the gentle sun, and would gradually heal all who bathed in its rays.” Soothing Sunlight miracle that passed down through the ages by the Lindelt Monastery “Greatly heals HP of self and nearby allies“.

Both Golden Order and the great House Osteria represent prestigious ruling orders or noble houses wielding immense power and influence within their respective sacred capitals of Lindelt and Leyndell.

Both the Heart of the Storm from Elden Ring and the Ashen Mist Heart from Dark Souls 2 are key triggers that grant the ability to access dragons’ memories and alternate realities.
https://preview.redd.it/fqjdchabsi0d1.png?width=2000&format=png&auto=webp&s=dd0c5debdca687ba7f1d9c75c4982effbe0a31df
Both Raya Lucaria Academy in Elden Ring and the School of Melfia in Dark Souls 2 were renowned institutions dedicated to the study of sorcery with astrology, delving into the mysteries of the stars and cosmic forces.
https://preview.redd.it/sgogyfiwwi0d1.jpg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=80dbe3b5a721fdb37faf91475c9dcaebb29c9139
Akin to how purist astrologers in Dark Souls 2 despised swordfighting, the Lazuli sorcerers were considered heretical by the Raya Lucaria academy and are the only branch that practice of wielding swords as catalysts instead of traditional staves.
https://preview.redd.it/w632sq0iti0d1.png?width=1068&format=png&auto=webp&s=ed3da08c8d7813258e0f764f152d43a4ea23db35
The Mask of Confidence worn by Seluvis and the Manikin Mask from Dark Souls 2 share a distinctive feature of having the wearer's mouth wide open. Hinting at a connection between the peculiar art of puppetry from of the two lost lands mentioned in the Manikin armor description and Seluvis' quest in Elden Ring.
https://preview.redd.it/ap3yt980xi0d1.png?width=1025&format=png&auto=webp&s=e6715baf61acc124fc57c7c67d20746ee4005c77
The Shaded Castle (on a plateau that has windmills) which is next to Volcano Manor and the Earthen Peak Ruins which is next to the Iron Keep in Dark Souls 2 are both small, poisonous dungeons that lead to a larger, more imposing, volcanic area, hinting at a parallel between the two locations.
https://preview.redd.it/byhleg2esi0d1.png?width=2000&format=png&auto=webp&s=512f5ee94b54d9727e2fb9c291f84981b383f16f
Volcano Manor with its winged snake statues, and Lanafir from Dark Souls 2, where the eagle symbolizes wealth rather than strength and the land follows a strict edict of isolationism, share a connection hinting at foreign, wealthy lands ruled in separation from everyone else.
https://preview.redd.it/s7kzt7w3ui0d1.png?width=652&format=png&auto=webp&s=3451252e2d08dd27203764f424cc220d2d35d57a
Both Sellia, Town of Sorcery and the eastern land of Jugo employ invisibility magic, with Sellia's night sorceries like Unseen Form and Unseen Blade allowing casters to become semi-invisible or render weapons invisible, while Jugo's Desert Sorceresses and the legendary armor of Aurous utilize deceptive illusionsto lure in victims.
https://preview.redd.it/2h79vhd5ui0d1.png?width=720&format=png&auto=webp&s=8c355438118bd35aafed442d9e0b090fd9133327
Both the formic rock formed from solidified giant ant venom (most abundantly found under the desert land of Caelid) and the Corrosive Urn from Dark Souls 2, filled with secretions from giant corrosive ants native to the desert land of Jugo, contain potent acidic properties that can rapidly degrade equipment and armor.
https://preview.redd.it/tvgek6ohsi0d1.png?width=2000&format=png&auto=webp&s=cc629ebb59af22693947e751321a0daddee23d86
Both Caelid under Radahn's Redmane army, and the eastern land of Forossa from Dark Souls 2 were home to fearsome warrior knights renowned for their ferocious combat prowess, with the Lion Knights of Forossa and the Redmane Knights serving as elite forces until their respective kingdoms fell to ruin.
https://preview.redd.it/w7q3fwlcui0d1.jpg?width=1047&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=699cd72b8a1f187c74d5db8adc27c6613c9ffbc1
The Ring of Giants suggests the lands of Forossa may have been inhibited by giants, just as the Dragonslayer's Crescent Axe's ability to slay dragons implies Forossa also had to contend with these beasts inhabiting its territory.
https://preview.redd.it/vjvw5uglti0d1.png?width=1350&format=png&auto=webp&s=5cadeb7a9f856702326314e2705d4c631c41c0a7
Both the Black Firebomb from Dark Souls 2, a powerful explosive developed in the fallen kingdom of Forossa, and the Redmane Fire Pot from Elden Ring, used by Radahn's soldiers to combat the scarlet rot, are potent incendiary weapons that inflict devastating fire damage upon impact.
https://preview.redd.it/7iah3t97ti0d1.png?width=1524&format=png&auto=webp&s=89b54c7e963c8d7cd1db8e5d207982533dc8e578
Both the Holy Water Pot, crafted with incantations of the Golden Order and highly effective against "Those Who Live in Death", and the Holy Water Urn from Dark Souls 2, originally intended as a soothing potion but scalding the skin of Undead and Hollows, are potent holy water weapons derived from ancient, well-protected springs that have become inaccessible due to war ravaging the lands of Mirrah and the Lands Between.
https://preview.redd.it/kw0dghv4ti0d1.png?width=1250&format=png&auto=webp&s=5af5e4e10491b2a4a4036056ac10721d74ce3762
The name Elden Ring and the primary title for Dark souls.
Initially, the latter was going to be named ‘Dark Ring,’ but after learning about its crass British slang connotation, FromSoftware opted for the title “Dark Souls” instead. Within the overworld setting of Elden Ring, a blend of North-western European, Nordic, and early to middle English influences, the term ‘eld’ or ‘ēlden’ can signify ‘fire’ or ‘ǣlden’ can signify ‘to kindletracing its origins back to the Proto-Germanic term ‘ailidaz’ and ‘ailijan’ respectively. Interestingly in Swedish “elden” reportedly associated with alchemy.
Perhaps the intended or additional meaning of “Elden Ring” is “Fire Ring”.

2024.05.15 07:42 darealestmyaaaa AITAH for wanting to make my own decisions in my life?

I’m 16F, and i recently got a new job as a referee, and I get paid a certain amount an hour everytime I ref a game. The opportunity to apply for the job was sent out to every soccer team in my city because the organization needed referees, and I signed up because I wanted to give it a shot. I told my mom about it, and she insisted she had full access and control of the schedule and my job. I said yes— first mistake.
My employers always send out emails to let us know when a game is available and asks if we have the time to do it. Mind you, I play club and school soccer and have practices almost everyday, so during the rare days that I have free time I’d like to take them. There are some days where I have nothing going on and I agree to do them, but there are also days where I want to relax and take a break. Apparently, my mom has other plans.
Instead of asking me, she goes ahead and confirms that I’ll be attending the job. I asked her not to do it because I wanted to be able to make the decision for myself, since I’m going to be an adult soon. I went on a full 20 minute rant about it. Her response was to laugh in my face and proceed to tell everyone else in my family about it, which had them laughing too. I told them off about it, and now she’s absolutely pissed me at me and threatened to take away my privileges. AITAH for wanting to make my own decision?

2024.05.15 07:40 itsda178299 a man with a hammer sees everything as a nail. a tarantula doused in poison sees life as a box of chocolates

it’s been a few days since my last letter; i have no clue what to call these rants except for what they are? letters to an abyss of bystanding entities. it makes me so sad that one day all of you will die. this exact fact is the thing that keeps me up every night and tickles tears out of my eyes all the time. i’m tormented and tortured by fatality. one day my mother will die. one day my uncles will die. one day my friends will die. one day my little cousins will die. one day i’ll die. i’ll be forgotten like 50’s actresses that got booked for a single role then never appeared in anything ever again. mortality has been familiar with me since i was a child. one of my earliest (yet funnest?) memories was attending two funerals in one day. the first funeral was for an aunt on my grandmother’s side, and the second was for a cousin on my grandfather’s side. i remember looking at all of the solemn faces as a 7 year old and simply enjoying the fact that all of my family members were hanging out together, understanding that someone has lost their life and will never come back yet not being phased by it. the first funeral i’ve cried at was my father’s. i’m pretty sure i spent that entire day crying. i was 12 when i woke up in the middle of the night to police standing outside of my bedroom door. i peaked through the crack to see so much commotion in the hallway, not knowing what to do or what to think. hours passed before my mother crept my door open with a weak voice telling me that she’d be leaving me in the house alone to go with my father to the hospital. years later she told me that she already knew he was dead based on a feeling in her stomach. that was the first time in my entire life that i had felt such deep and guttural emptiness. i realized that humans weren’t rubber bands that relied on their elasticity to keep their pacemakers on. i realized that i could die at 12 years old.
these thoughts haunted me well into my teenage years, with those years rounding off with my grandmother’s death. she was a stubborn old woman who didn’t want to see any doctors and yelled at anyone who offered her help. i knew that her time was coming close to running over well before she passed, which haunted me. logistically it made sense, but spiritually? it drove me mad. sometimes i manage to convince myself that i can predict people’s deaths in manic delusional states. sometimes i get “an itch”, then start sobbing thinking about how one of my friends is probably dying as i wipe tears from my eyes. i’m haunted by my own intuition and i question it every day. i question if i can control time and death. i question if life is even worth living if im gonna spend every minute of it waiting for the day that the birds chirp in slow motion and my breath hitches at an uncontrollable rate. i’m terrified.
i hate how much these thoughts control me. i would take any pill that allows me to not think about the concept of death for at least one day. at least one hour. at least one minute. why doesn’t anyone else feel the same way i do? people plan their future without any anxiety and i don’t understand it. why are you planning a cruise for 2 years from now when you could possibly crash in your car on the way there? why are you planning on attending undergrad school when you could get shot tomorrow? why are you beginning things that could abruptly end? why are we living just to die? what am i supposed to do with these thoughts? put them inside of my purse and eat them as snacks whenever the government decides that im too old for assistance? do i spit these words into a bottle douce them in alcohol then chug them back inside until i get poisoning and see the light? what do i do with the amount of thoughts that haunt me every night?
i can’t do anything. it’s the most freeing and dismal thing ive had to realize. i still don’t think i realize it because i cry at any thought of an end-of-the-world situation. i can’t do anything and i can’t escape. if there were a way to make people immortal scientists would’ve done it by now. i just have to accept my fate. these thoughts make me feel like a prisoner on death row screaming and pleading for the electric shock to implode on itself as soon as it reaches an inch away from my forehead. i don’t know what to do. i don’t know how to prevent it from making me sad every day. i want out, but i can’t get out. i don’t know how to end this letter. i just want things to get better. i want to come to terms with these thoughts instead of pushing them away. i want to be the average joe. i don’t want mortality to run my life like a big soccer game. i watch the shot clock as i hyperventilate from my bed. i don’t want to go to sleep anymore.
okay well… if there’s one positive note that i can clench onto as a send off it’s that i’m glad that we’ve invented chocolate. it’s the best creation ever. sweet treats. if humans weren’t here then there’d be no chocolate. or at least any as good as the bars i get from the grocery store. i love those. and nutella. and chocolate wafers. i’d die for one of those. i’m happy again. goodnight. sweet dreams my little mortals. we’re all gonna be alright.

2024.05.15 07:39 Zathamos The mistakes we've made... and what we are doing right

Flat our we lost because of turnovers. We could have been up by 6 or 8 at half if it wasn't for the dozen turnovers. The rest of this is part rant, vent, and personal opinion/observation.
Cons first cuz this is a vent.
Kyle Anderson is worthless. He might get some steals and turnovers, but he can't do anything with them. Use Monte Morris or someone who acts as a second or third threat from the arc with edwards and Townes. Then they can't just double edwards all game.
Gobert never should have came back at all. Why was anyone thinking that would be a good idea. Has anyone ever been a new parent before? He took time to be there for the birth, which means he is there helping with the baby and getting maybe 4 hours of sleep a night. He isn't going to be 100% after that, and why risk it? Game 2 proved we didn't need him. Gobert needs rest and we need to win game 6, don't let him play. He had zero affect on Jakovic and can't hit free throws to save his sons life.
We put zero effort into stopping Jakovic tonight other then letting him walk all over Gobert. In games 1 and 2 we had constant pressure from an outside man assuring he didn't have time to lolligag and play with his feet. Someone would have been swiping at the ball taking it away while preventing a passing lane. Tonight we all stood around the arc waiting for passes that never came to double players that never needed it. When he had as many points at half as the rest of his team we should have come up with a plan for that.
Gordon seems practically useless other than someone who slams the boards, something we haven't been doing aggressively since game 2. Why don't I ever see more than 1, maybe 2 wolves attacking the boards. If we could stay more constituent with inside protection and blocking passing lanes it would solve both Gordon and Joker.
Defensively, while we looked good when attacking the ball, but we only looked 75%, no doubles, no crashing boards, no cutting off lanes or going for takeaways. Games 1 and 2 the best part of our defense was the takeaways, aggressive defense and effective offense. We haven't been playing that same level of aggressive defense since macdaniels got his 3rd foul 5 or 6 minutes into game 3.
Pros
Townes played much better, hopefully he plays like that on Thursday or were toast.
Most of our bench shot much better overall, we just didn't find enough opportunities and committed a lot of sloppy turn overs all game. Bad passes, rushed hero-like charges to the basket (Townes). The offense was most effective early on by moving the ball around and not forcing edwards to make plays but to find him open. It exposed the lack of movement in Denvers defense. They put up a good wall in the paint, but are not good at keeping up with where our guys are when everyone is moving around. This was also obvious in the first two games and something we have struggled with these last 3.
At times our defense was a thing of beauty again, and most of the game they kept us in it. We lost because of turnovers flat out. We lost the ball randomly so many times from mishandling and we can't afford to do that. At half they mentioned how we had 12 or 14 turnovers but were only down by 6. Had we not had so many turnovers we could have been up by 6 or more easily. Most turn overs came from one guy trying to make something our of nothing when he should have kept the ball moving. Something we showed we can do and did for the first 1/3rd of this game.
My opinion (stop here if you dgf)
We need to find a way to make edwards effective so Townes can play at a more relaxed pace like he did the first 1/4 of this game. We need to make them pay for doubling edwards. Use naz reid and your other guards to make 3 other threats at the arc for him to throw too. I feel like the best answer to joker is double him with Townes and Reid, they did fantastic in game 2 against him. And use NAW and Macdaniels to keep Murray ineffective while edards is keeping an eye on Gordon ready to at least box him out if needed or swing to the wing to cover from the double. That's what we did in game 2 and it obviously worked really really well. Besides that as long as the bench can shoot effectively I think we still have a chance to win this series.
TLDR: Turnovers is why we lost. Kyle Anderson sycks offensively and doesn't present tenough of a threat to be on the court, Morris would be better. Gobert should be sleeping I'm between feedings, not screwing this up for us. We didn't even try to figure out joker or Gordon by crashing the boards or causing any kind of interference. But, Townes did play better, and so did the bench, but too many turnovers didn't allow enough shots to take any kind of commanding lead. We know what we have to do and did it for awhile. Defense can play great but that doesn't matter if the offense keeps giving the ball back. All in all I still think we can win if we go back to what we were doing in game 2.

2024.05.15 07:38 TheJawz15 Thoughts on the Portrayal of the NCR in the Fallout TV Show

Thoughts on the Portrayal of the NCR in the Fallout TV Show
Tl;dr when the NCR are portrayed in the Fallout TV show as being a far cry from their power in Fallout 2 and New Vegas. This is because they were already collapsing and dying a slow death. From hiring people like Fantastic and not being able to vet or produce new scientists and talents, to the loss of essential resources like water that they have to use Lake Mead to get water and power they need, coupled with incompetent leadership and land owners that could easily secede and become warlords over their own domain, it is easy to see why
When the Fallout television show first came out, I noticed a lot of people complaining and criticizing the portrayal of the New California Republic and how it should not have fallen that far between Fallout New Vegas and the TV show. But I think that in New Vegas, it quite clearly stated that the NCR are on the precipice of collapse and that the play for Vegas is a Hail Mary of a dying empire. There are four instances that point me to the idea that the NCR is weaker than people think. They are: Fantastic, the guy met at Helios One, and the accompanying scientist, Dr. Ignacio Rivas, Chief Hanlon at Camp Golf, General Lee Oliver and Aaron Kimball, and the Brahmin Barons and the NCR economy. These four, in my view, show that the NCR was already starting to fall apart when they tried to make the play for Vegas in Fallout New Vegas.

The Smartest Character to Ever Appear in Fallout
Let's start with Fantastic and what he does in Helios One. What he does at Helios One is nothing. Despite the caption and official stats, this guy is running with a 3 INT, 10 CHR. He is the epitome of the incompetence within the bureaucracy in the NCR. Through his dialogue, the player will learn that the way he obtained the position he did at Helios One is some NCR officials went door to door asking for scientists and he pulled a wonderful little trick where he said that he had a theoretical degree in physics. This means that there is no vetting of candidates. That they just took a guy off the street and said, "Hey you are going to be in charge of a solar power plant that we used quite a bit of resources to gain from the Brotherhood of Steel." And if that ain't wild, I don't know what is. This also points to a lack of schools and education centers that could make scientists that the NCR can tap into when they need them for problems like this. OSI exists, but doesn't seem to have the resources to do fill the gaps made in the expansion of the NCR. But hiring an incompetent person is not the worst thing in the world most of the time. Every company and government has done it before, and will do it again. But the worst thing is that Fantastic would probably have been caught earlier for his incompetence if it wasn't for Dr. Ignacio.

The Man Behind the Fantastic
Dr. Ignacio Rivas is a simple man who wants to help everyone. But he is also emblematic of the incompetence and inability of the NCR to audit their own people. Dr. Rivas is a member of the Followers of the Apocalypse, a bunch of good people who in Fallout New Vegas, act as a sort of Red Cross organization. They handle illnesses, addictions, and other types of medical problems along with running education programs as well. But Dr. Rivas is a different type of member, one who is more akin to another member of the Followers of the Apocalypse that siphoned water away from the NCR sharecropper farm. He is acting to keep the NCR from learning about the secret of Helios One, while also making sure that its repairs do not go along with what the NCR wants, but what he wants. He wants the power to go to everyone, the NCR wants it to go to the Strip and Camp McCarran. Dr. Rivas doesn't help Fantastic and the NCR with the power situation, and is probably actively These two people at Helios One shows that the NCR either doesn't care or doesn't have the resources to audit and vet the people they put in these important areas.

Even if I side with the NCR, I still don't like this guy
The story of General Lee Oliver is one that just kind of reeks of corruption and nepotism. He is essentially the general you don't want to be serving under if you are in the military. He is egotistical, lazy, and just doesn't do well with those below him. When talking to Boone about General Oliver, he mentions that he is kind of distant, only being a signature on his discharge papers. That there was talk that Oliver wouldn't be in that position even if he wasn't buddy-buddy with the president Aaron Kimball. Without even seeing much of him, you know when you first meet him that he is not prepared for any plans that the Legion is going to throw at him. He seems to do no information gathering, no consolidation of resources to deal with the situations at Nipton, Camp New Hope, or anywhere else. He looks like the ineffectual general that people make fun of when talking about real life wars where you wonder how they even got into the position they are in. He is the hint of the level of corruption that is present within the NCR, and that if there are others who are like Oliver in positions of leadership, then it is no wonder that the NCR wasn't able to do any recovery operation in the ruins of Shady Sands.

The Man Who Started This Post
What made me think about the state of the NCR in the Fallout TV show and how it actually made sense that the NCR wouldn't be able to reclaim Shady Sands after the nuke fell on it and that the only presence they have are remnants led by Moldaver. It was a specific line that he says when you first talk to him. As he looks out over Lake Las Vegas, he mentions how beautiful the sunrise, or sunset I can't remember, is over a lake, and that there are no lakes in California. That they all dried up. This made me think that the resources that the NCR holds is actually very limited and most likely dwindling rapidly. This may also explain the desert look of a lot of California in the TV show, since there are no lakes, rivers, or bodies of water to sustain any agriculture in the area. This one set of lines shows that the NCR is probably desperate for the water and power that Hoover Dam can give and is probably the place that will save and sustain the NCR's empire. He is also a sign of the NCR incompetence that is just rampant throughout the game because they never found out that he was the one that was causing the communications problem unless the player says that they are going to arrest him and then he confesses and commits suicide.

Future Warlord
This final part is about two things that are connected, the NCR economy and Brahmin Barons. During the NCR-Brotherhood War, the NCR's gold reserve was destroyed in a Brotherhood attack, causing the NCR currency to crash in value. This in turn, caused an economic downturn of the NCR. While this was happening, the Brahmin Barons, like Heck Gunderson pictured here, took advantage of Kimball's expansionist policies to sweep up vast swathes of land for themselves. Now that there was economic instability and the way that people moved away from the NCR dollar back to bottle caps showed that people like Heck Gunderson could very well secede from the NCR and the NCR itself could fall into a state of multiple factions. It is mentioned in the quest Pheeble Will that Gunderson uses raider and warlord type tactics in gaining land that he desires. The Brahmin Barons are the ones in the greatest spot to leave the NCR while they waste resources in the Mojave. The Barons and the economy collapsing caused places like Shady Sands to fall into turmoil that was only exacerbated when the capital was moved. In the Fallout show, we see a library book that has the final check out date in 2276. There is also a chalk board with the very basic history of Shady Sands and how it "fell" in 2277. This fall is probably referring to an economic fall and the public services, like the library and schools, probably became quite limited due to the economic downturn in the NCR. Multiple states in the NCR might have also pulled away causing the NCR to consolidate around a few states like the Hub and Vault City. Which is why when Shady Sands was nuked, the NCR never came back. The only NCR presence there, were the ones that were already there, with no reinforcements or anything else.
In the end, New Vegas showed an NCR that was masquerading as a powerful force by being everywhere while doing nothing. They were an empire in their death throes and I believe that through these people we meet and what they say and represent, it shows that if the play for the Mojave doesn't work, then the NCR will collapse. The show may have shown that the NCR has actually collapsed due to the events of New Vegas not going the way of the NCR. The NCR has collapsed under its own weight, and the bear has bled out through a death by a thousand cuts.
If you made it this far then thank you very much. I am sorry if this is kind of incoherent and I rambled on too long. Let me know if I got any information wrong. Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk.

2024.05.15 07:37 DueSchedule2408 Can I use my degree to land jobs outside my field?

This post if partly for advice and partly for vindication.
Does having ANY undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Science in computing science for me) open doors to jobs that wouldn't be open for someone with high school diploma and work experience or a trade certificate. My parents always thought it did which is why I have a degree in a field I can't work in anymore and generalized anxiety. I just don't think in todays job market that me having a degree in an unrelated field makes me a more attractive as a candidate, than someone who has basically my same work history. In fact even in my industry (Software Programmer) I don't think the degree means much. Would like to know if others have a better gage if this is true for hiring proposes.
I know the degree and work history ( I was a video game developer) has made me unattractive for many part time minimum wage positions so I was wondering if someone could suggest jobs that I could look at instead. I am interested in trying anything that is not programming/ i.t./network (basically anywhere that I am expected to computer at a higher level than excel sheets). I am not against using computer software and could leverage my skills that way. I would like to explore my career options broadly, but I'm concerned that my work history will keep me locked into working on a computer somehow.
Recommendations about all different types of jobs are appreciated along with any other type of advice.

2024.05.15 07:36 RealThomasAquinas Job recommendations for a dumb and slow person?

I’m not totally dumb, I just have no skills that are useful without a college degree which I don’t have at this time or am able to obtain. I’ve worked multiple jobs since high school and I’ve never been able to excel at any of them because I am very slow and unable to learn much more than whatever level I started at, despite a lot of effort put into it. I believe that I have ADHD but have not been diagnosed. My main interests are obscure fields, particularly scholasticism—history and philosophy. I don’t have the money for a 12 year degree so neither of these options will work for me at this time. I need a job that is mindless where I can work and think about philosophy at the same time. I have to be able to think about abstract topics consistently in order for my mental health to be okay. I will take any suggestions. I am trying to get a profile started on UpWork so I can write articles for people’s websites since writing is one of the few things I am good at. I will take any other suggestions as well.

2024.05.15 07:32 baikaldeep Q&A with the enthusiastic founder of a small business who is using all the wrong fonts and is doomed to fail

Hi EFOASBWIUATWFAIDTF, I had my first one-night stand recently. Afterward, he kind of rolled over in bed. I didn't know if I was supposed to leave, go to sleep, or be the big spoon. What's normal in this situation? Help! -Katia
Hi Katia! Whether it's romance or designing the next big revolution in SaaS for food delivery, you have to play to win! Set your eyes to the horizon, take what you want and pay for it.
That's how it was for me designing BOREAS. I needed access to the best consultants. Do you think it was cheap to dream up product names like iPhone or Fruitopia? No, I had to liquidate my 401(k). But you've got to go all in on yourself, go big or go home. In your case Katia, I'm not sure how close you live if you did go home or if the L was still running. But even if it wasn't, I recently learned that all of your expenses, whether an Uber ride home or pet insurance, can be deducted from your taxes if you own your own business. HTH! -Steve Lanston, founder and CEO of Saucily

Hi EFOASBWIUATWFAIDTF, I've been hanging onto some friendships with people who became snakes in adulthood. What do you do about toxic people you have become invested in? I feel like I'm going crazy! -Emily
Hi Emily! Great question. To be successful, you have to surround yourself exclusively with successful people. As the CEO of a potential fortune 500 company, I think about this a lot, because like you, I cannot afford to get dragged down. It's not you who's crazy, it's them.
This is the reason that I had the bittersweet task of firing my first employee. And it is why I am now in active litigation against him for undermining crucial intellectual property concerning features of BOREAS. Everyone knows that food delivery is huge right now: Door Dash, GrubHub, Uber Eats, etc. But SaaS to help these companies coordinate with each other so that customers can get sauces and toppings from other restaurants? It's a game changer. Eric knew what he was doing when sent those tweets.
Like me, you can't let injustice go unanswered. This may mean you have to go it alone sometimes. But you are the only person you can count on. Why do you think I bought a gaming computer to host our website from my apartment? It's because AWS is too unreliable. But I can count on myself. And so can you, Emily! HTH! -Steve Lanston, founder and CEO of Saucily

Hi EFOASBWIUATWFAIDTF, I am a consumate femcel (kissless, handhold-less virgin). I was recently accepted to a Master's program in NYC, and I am moving this fall (although I might defer til the spring). I want to reinvent myself, but I feel like whatever I do will look awkward and someone will laugh at me. What can I do to shed my ugly duckling persona and finally become a sought-after swan? I need your advice, please! -Cammy
Hi Cammy! One of the oldest truths is that life is full of hardships, but you have to face them head on and then pick yourself up and keep going. It's what we do when life throws us a curve ball that defines us. First ask yourself this: "Am I ready to be inspired?" Are you?
Are you ready to stop looking back and be your best self going forward? Are you ready to turning getting laid off at 46 and then losing your Amazon internship for taking home a bottle of Sriracha into a once-in-a-generation business? Every successful company has some kind of unfair advantage. What's your unfair advantage, Cammy? What asset or work ethic do you have that other girls will leave on the table? What's your secret sauce? Our secret sauce is Fire sauce from Taco Bell served on a Big Mac from McDonalds. It's one of those things that's obvious in hindsight. But you have to be the first person who sees that opportunity before everyone else follows.
I also want to say that your first sales are always the hardest. But just imagine, you start with one sale. And then two. Before long, your runway is growing, and you can afford to pay down the loans you took. Don't worry if they laugh at you, Cammy. Find your secret sauce and then lean into it. I forget who said it, but first they think you're crazy, then they fight you, and then all of a sudden you change the world. -Steve Lanston, founder and CEO of Saucily

2024.05.15 07:28 Narangren Solo Stamblade Build

Long-ish post. Lots of detail.
I'm relatively new to the game, looking for some tips. I've been doing research on builds and sets the last few days (ranging from looking at build guides to reading old Reddit discussions about various sets) for my solo character, and I have some ideas, was looking to see if I'm on the right track, or if I need to reevaluate stuff.
First, some info:
I know that's not optimal, but I enjoy it. My RP is as a Nord Vampire assassin, and I do a lot of criminal content, so the vampire is there to stay. As it's a solo build, and therefore hurts no one but me, I plan to work around the drawbacks rather than change race or remove vampirism.
I'm mostly looking for advice on sets, traits, and enchantments. I've purposefully excluded any dungeon or trial sets from my considerations (other than a monster set) as I'm trying to build my gear before trying to take on that sort of harder content.
Currently, this is what I'm considering:
Reasons:
Battlefield Acrobat - I've been having some sustain issues, which is mostly my fault as I'm not very adept at my rotation yet, but I'm improving, however being a vampire definitely isn't helping that. This set would mitigate that, while also giving me some recovery, and (if old posts are still correct) reducing costs for other actions like breaking free. It doesn't seem to be widely used, but it seems like it would be good for my specific situation.
Ancient Dragonguard - To me, this set seems like it's designed for solo play. Comments said it's a good starter set, and it will add both survivability and damage. Because it's crafted, I can also capitalize on the variable weights to put the heavy on chest and light on belt. It seems like a perfect choice to me.
Iceheart: Comments about solo monster sets seemed to heavily point towards this one, and I think I can see why. It'll add both some damage and survivability, my only question is if damage shields can stack? Or would running this alongside Cleave (and morphs) be redundant?
Thief Stone: I was considering Shadow, for danage and survival, but unless I am mistaken Critical Healing cannot occur on HoTs, so I wouldn't get a ton of value out of the heal boost, so I'm going all in on damage for this one.
Other sets I'm still considering:
Thoughts? I think it's a relatively solid and easy to get starter build that I can use to farm better gear, will keep me alive as I get more proficient in my rotations, and overcomes some of the drawbacks of my roleplaying choices.
Happy to answer any questions, however it's very late, so I'll be asleep soon.
Edit: Reformatted part as it didn't turn out the way I wanted visually.
Edit 2: Added other sets I considered

[F4A] Genres and Fandoms!
Hello again! I’m not sure if you’ve seen my other posts about a fandom roleplay but this one is gonna be about any roleplay in general, fandoms included. This’ll be pretty detailed and I’ll let you know the parts if you want to skip ahead (I suggest you don’t). If you don’t wanna read all of this, then don’t. This was made for people willing to read blocks of paragraphs and maybe even respond with their own.
INTRODUCTION
My name is Hina. To know more about me, I hail from Japan and I have been an avid writer ever since I moved to the States when I was 11. My second language is English but I believe it’s been pretty good. I recently turned 22 years old and I'm female. Talking about age, I would be comfortable with you being 17+ and preferably at least 20. Roleplaying with minors isn’t a big thing for me, I apologize. I’m in the west coast, PST timezone. Let’s see.. What other information can I give you? I would say I enjoy skating, basketball, watching tv shows and anime, and reading. My favorite anime is Nana and Death Note.
GENRES + FANDOM
I am not looking for a specific roleplay. I would say i’m skilled in all genres. Sci-fi, fantasy, horror, apocalypse. All of that. Even slice of life, though that depends on what type of plot exactly. To be more specific on each genre, starting off with fantasy, I'm more used to high fantasy and mythology. I’m not that great with medieval, unfortunately. DnD based role plays aren’t really fit for me and I struggle playing with species like ogres. Just putting that out here. For fantasy, I don’t have any specific ideas.
Sci-fi is the genre I have more skill in. Most of my roleplays are based off of them! Specifically, I’m fine with all subgenres of that.
For other genres like horror and apocalypse, I do have some taste. I really like monsters and creepy things from the horror genre like vampires and all of that and I even have my own idea set up in older times dealing with vampire lords and hunters and all of that. I also enjoy eldritch type horror. I also like that one sun genre of it, like video game horror? I’m not sure how to describe it. I also forgot if it even has an official name or if it’s just something used to describe the horror genre. I like Resident Evil, so maybe that’ll tell you the type of horror I usually enjoy. I do have a developed idea of something more eldritch horror.
More on fandoms! To get some other things down, I usually only play OC unless the character you want me to play is one I know more about and I'm more comfortable playing. The fandoms I like in the more anime way are Jojo’s, Nana, Death Note, JJK, AOT, Haikyuu, and probably more. I’m well versed in the Jojo’s, Aot, and JJK fandoms but less knowledgeable on Death Note since i’ve only seen it once. Other fandoms i’m in include ATLA, TLOK, Harry Potter, Resident Evil, Marvel, DC, and many more.
CHARACTERS
I tend to use character sheets to describe my character, these usually consist of names, background, and personality. More so on appearances, I prefer using animated or drawn references than real life people. I enjoy good enough references where I get the idea of how the character would look like.
The types of characters I write are either the lone wolf type that has some sad past which leads them to want to join someone for a redemption arc or the bubbly character who is the one that brings the mood up and is usually seen as trustworthy and of that kind.
I like all types of tropes, especially enemies to lovers or rivalry. I also really enjoy opposites attract as a whole from either opposite personality or something else they would be opposites in. Enemies to lovers takes my heart, though. I love seeing the characters go past the urge to ultimately hate each other and/or go past their usual way of disliking the others lineage or upcoming.
REQUIREMENT
I think this is my last paragraph on the roleplay. It’s the most important, at least. Requirements. All roleplay searches come with them. Or at least that’s what I heard! But don’t fret, there isn’t much.
I’ve seen this as one of the most used requirements, and I agree with it. As someone who’s first language wasn’t English, I understand that you may not be great at it. But please, I do require a partner that at least has proper use of grammar and punctuation. You don’t even have to use big words or anything, just at least know where to put your periods and the placement of your words.
My second requirement is for you to be LITERATE! Please. I’m a big writer, I tend to ramble on and tend to write more than what I thought I would. (like i’m doing right now) I write multiple paragraphs from the starter until the scene relaxes. I also understand that sometimes writing big blocks of words every response is tiring or boring so I don’t expect it all the time, at least after the starter has been made and in more important scenes. Dialogue also cuts my replies shorter.
Please please please be polite in OOC! We may just be role playing together but kindness goes all ways. If we do include OOC, I enjoy talking about many things. My day, movies, games, funny moments and stories, all of that!
I think that’s the end to this wonderful journey of an ad about my search. I hope you are still here, fellow writer! I would LOVE it if you reached out to me! This wasn’t all for nothing, right!
But don’t leave yet! I do have a passcode. I know this was a jumble of words and rambling but I still have to put one in. I heard that there’s a lot of people on here that don’t read things fully and miss out on rules or information! But.. Just because you read through this all, I’ll gladly give you options on the passcode! Also please put in an introduction of yourself! Don’t think “Oh maybe I shouldn’t bother this person with too much to read”! I like seeing big blocks.
PASSCODE:
What’s your dream country to travel to and why?
OR
Who’s your favorite TV show / Cartoon / Game / Anime character?
Feel free to pick both! Now, that’s all from me. Please don’t put your request as just “Wanna rp”!

2024.05.15 07:27 holisticlife5500 Airfare Secrets for Scoring the Cheapest Flights

"Golden rules" about buying cheap flights, like booking domestic flights 57 days before the departure date, are no longer valid, as there has been a huge shift in the travel industry in what days were thought the cheapest to booking flights. If a study has not been conducted recently, or only one year ago, do not put too much faith in it; there's no reason to worry about booking a flight far in advance. The stellar tips below are current.
Check airlines which don't appear on 3rd party websitesOne of the major weaknesses of Internet search engines is that they frequently will not display the flights of all airlines such as Southwest, Frontier, and Allegiant. To solve this problem, use a free resource like Wikipedia to learn which of these airlines operates a certain airport. Visit Wikipedia, go to their airport page, and search for a section called "Airlines and destinations." You are advised to locate a list of each airline that flies to that airport as well as all the nonstop destinations that airport operates. So, once you become aware of any carriers which did not show up in your first searches, you could now look for flights straight on the airlines' sites.Search one-way & round-trip flightsOnce upon a time the majority of round-trip flights were cheaper than booking two one-way airfare flights. That's no longer the situation today. For instance, Southwest and Jetblue set their prices for their flights on a one-way basis; and a round-trip flight is only the sum of the 2 one-way rates. So, you'll want to check one-way flight rates to ensure you buy the best round-trip deal by pairing two one-way flight tickets, probably on two different carriers.Look for one seat at a timeThere exists a virtually unknown quirk in how carriers price seats which could result in greater prices if searching for many passengers as opposed to a single ticket. Airlines put their inventory in fare classes, or called buckets, which are not always obviously visible to customers. For instance, there may be just three seats left in a fare bucket for $300 each, and the next higher bucket may be $400 for each ticket. But, if you happen to look for four seats, each one would end up falling into the $400 fare bucket.Search alternate airportsAt times the cost of a certain flight is extremely high that it could be a good idea to use your second or even third choice of airports. But did you know that Stewart (SWF), Westchester (HPN), and Long Island McArthur (ISP) are also in the region? Several airlines permit you to look for all airports in a region by just specifying the destination as the city itself rather than a certain airport. The ITA Matrix tool is also a great way to look for close by if you do not know the area too well, and Google Flights offers a "Nearby airports" option to assist in this search, too.Don't always travel directBeing flexible with your route you'll be flying is another way to find a cheap flight. Next, open Google Flights, type in the destination's details like country name to see the rates to nearby airports. If the difference happens to exceed $150 dollars, find out how much it actually is to fly from the 2nd airport to the main destination.Leverage elite statusAlthough having elite status will not allow you to book flights at a discount, you still could use it to save money another way. But with elite status with the majority of airlines let you to standby for earlier flights or perform same-day verified flight modifications. This can permit you to buy a discounted airline flight at an awful time, only to modify it to the flight you really want but at no extra charge. Even without elite status, the charge to standby or make a same-day verified flight modification might be less than the airfare difference between the flight you truly want and the lowest option that day.Use the correct credit cardThe right credit card may very well provide you major savings on flight tickets in a number of various ways. That card in addition offers the International Airfare Program, providing cardholders discounts for premium class flights on certain airlines.Search for free hotels and stopover toursWhenever an airline imposes a lengthy layover because of its very tight schedule, the airline will usually offer a free STPC, or stopover paid by carrier, which can include a free tour or hotel room as well.
