I’m fairly new to the hospital I’m working at. But had been a tech for quite sometime. During training all I heard from trainers and co-workers is that I can be self-sufficient right away and that I can handle being in an off-shift. An opportunity arose to be overnights and I wanted it mainly for the differential so I grabbed it and I was to move to overnights once training is over. There are still things I need to learn but it’s been steady.
Now to the issue. We were tasked to do the competency for our 7th month which is the first month after training. The learning coordinator said it’s not that difficult, just some basic stuff but being on overnight with just 3 or 4 people, you don’t have that much time to focus on your competency. About a week or two ago, I received news that my aunt (who I regard as like a bonus mom) had a heart attack and was hospitalized. They live in a different country and I felt helpless. I grew up in that country and we were really close but it’s far away that I can’t just go on a plane to see her. I sped through my competency on that week because I was trying to chase the feeling of fulfillment. Because I felt helpless with my aunt situation, finishing my competency felt like dopamine to me not realizing I didn’t really make sure I answered questions right. Nobody at work knew I was going through something. Now I got called by the QA to discuss with me that I failed a couple of modules on the competency. It’s not that big of a “failure”. I needed to get an 85% rate but I got 83% so they had me do a reassessment. I also got the wet samples wrong (there was confusion on this part because my sample was QNS and I emailed the learning coordinator and she said I could either do sample 4 or 14. I chose 14 but the next day when I did my additional testing for that competency because I didn’t get to finish the day before because I had to prioritize patient samples I mistakenly grabbed 4 and towards the end, nothing was lining up so I figured out I grabbed the wrong sample, it was just a MESS! I made myself confused because I was trying to rush it in because I wanted to focus more on patient samples)
Anyway, they made me do a reassessment but now I’m so anxious and worried with everything I do. I lost confidence and I’m actually thinking that I’m not competent because I failed the competency. I know the personal stuff should not be part of work but it can really make you emotional sometimes. It can give you brain fog and I thought at that time that I was okay. But after discussions with my S/O, he pointed out that I maybe more affected by my aunt’s situation more than I think. It’s not an excuse for making mistakes whatsoever though, I’m just pissed I didn’t realize that it was affecting me a certain way. What does that mean for me? If I fail again does that mean I get fired?

My husband’s mom is a generally unproblematic person, we’ve never really had conflict. She was a terrible alcoholic for the first few years of me and husband’s relationship so I just kept my distance. She’s sober now but there is a lot of broken trust because of things that happened while she was drinking and even after, she continued to show questionable judgement so we just didn’t spend a lot of time with her but it was never hostile. She has never had any sense of boundaries but it was more in a roll my eyes and ignore her kind of way, until baby was born.
My son is her first biological grandkid (husband’s sister had babies but they are MILs step-grandchildren.) I had an emergency C section, which was traumatic for me, and baby was born with some unexpected health issues. The stress of the situation made my milk super slow to come in and I was barely producing anything when it did come. I would let LO clusterfeed for hours and hours to get my supply up and he would cry whenever he was not in my arms/ on the boob. In addition to all of this I had postpartum insomnia, anxiety and depression and really struggled bonding with my baby. All that to say, I was going through hell the first few weeks of my baby’s life and it was genuinely the worst time of my life.
I decided not to have visitors in the hospital and for the first few days home besides for my own mom who was there to take care of me. When I did allow visitors (literally only 4dpp) my MIL was really sick so I had her wear a mask and did not let her hold baby. She then started asking to visit daily. We said no a lot but she was still coming over at a frequency of every few days, so multiple times a week. When she did come over she did nothing helpful, just wanted to sit on our couch and hold baby for HOURS. She’d ask us to make her coffee, to sample food from our fridge, etc. Incredibly inconsiderate and tone-deaf.
When LO was 2 weeks old FIL called my husband to talk to him on his mom’s behalf. Apparently she had been sobbing everyday that we said no to visitors and was asking FIL to appeal to my husband to let her see him more. Keeping in mind he was only TWO weeks old and she had seen him 6+ times. She said she had imagined that she would be a lot more involved in taking care of him and her feelings were hurt that I was “keeping her away” and she wanted to know what she had done wrong. When I tell you my jaw literally hit the floor when my husband told me this.
He called her directly and said I’m sorry that your feelings are hurt but we have so much on our plate right now and we do not need anyone piling on. She just doubled down and was crying and begging him to be able to come see baby “even just for a few minutes a day.” Husband said we’re not going to agree to that and then ended the call.
After that, she would start just coming to our house unannounced without asking so we would not have the chance to say no. Husband walks the dogs with FIL every day (FIL never entered our house, he just met husband outside) and MIL started coming when FIL came to walk and just literally came in my house without knocking. She walked in when I was breastfeeding or in my bra multiple times and she would always purposefully enter really loudly to wake up the baby if he was napping. My husband once again had to say no unannounced visitors and no drop in visits.
Husband is now back at work so it’s just me and baby during the day. Since he has been back she has texted me almost daily, maybe every other day, asking to come over. It’ll be like “hey I’m driving by your house in a few minutes, can I stop and see the baby?” and I always feel SO guilty saying no but like WHAT THE FUCK. It makes me feel like a hostage in my own house and that I have to keep my blinds closed and doors locked and pretend I’m not home. I see her drive by my house multiple times a day.
I genuinely think that she thought she was going to be like a second mom to LO. I have no idea how she got that impression, because she was never involved in our lives in the 8 years I’ve been with her husband. I personally think even ONE visit a week is excessive but I was willing to compromise by letting husband make the call to schedule those visits or not during his parenting time while I’m “off duty.” Her texting me multiple times a week asking to come over is driving me fucking insane. I only have 2 weeks left of my maternity leave and I don’t want to spend it fucking dodging my mother in law constantly!

I (26F) have been having employment issues for over a year despite having a masters degree in public administration/certificate in health administration and top grades (long story short I had two job that I was not qualified for and they hired me anyways, only for them to fire me afterwards a few months later leading to a gap).
I got to the point that I was applying to ANY job just to get the skills/references. And then I sent a general application to a religious elementary school I used to go to.
I had an initial call with them and it all went well, I am going for a trial day next Thursday to see if I am the right fit . There were no administrative positions but there were open spots for assistant teachers in the Early Childhood Department for Pre-K.
Now this didn't bother me because:
  1. I am close friends with someone who works in the department
  2. My capstone was about children's education during distance learning and future economic prospects
  3. I have extensive volunteer experience working in my local temples children's program and very good references
  4. Salary (which can be $19 according to the school's Glassdoor) is not my biggest concern at the moment, my concern is getting work/references.
5)Schedule is flexible aside from departmental meetings
6) Doesn't require me to get any teaching degrees, only certifications in the state (NY) that I'm currently in.
However I am worried about the future as well because I hope to eventually move to Washington DC in a couple years, which will mean I have to leave the job eventually and find a new one. And I'm worried by taking this position as a Pre-K assistant teacher I'm nuking any chances of ever working directly within the policy world or for local communities.
My questions really are then:
  1. Should I take the job if offered? Most likely I won't be starting until the 2024-2025 semester which starts in September. Which gives me three months not looking for a job in anticipation of working there. I live with my parents so rent and food is not an issue for now but it'll be a hard stop on spending. If so....
  2. Should I take the job if offered but let them know if I get a position in my field by the summer more relevant I have to decline it?
  3. If I take the job, how can I leverage it for work I want to do, especially since its an assistant teacher job for Pre-K? Just searching around I could get involved in my local religious community more when it comes to work but they also require office experience. What about writing samples? How could I realistically leverage this position for other teaching jobs with better pay in the future?Another option could be local community centers?

However I am worried about the future as well because I hope to eventually move to Washington DC in a couple years, which will mean I have to leave the job eventually and find a new one. And I'm worried by taking this position as a Pre-K assistant teacher I'm nuking any chances of ever working directly within the policy world or for local communities.
My questions really are then:
  1. Should I take the job if offered? Most likely I won't be starting until the 2024-2025 semester which starts in September. Which gives me three months not looking for a job in anticipation of working there. I live with my parents so rent and food is not an issue for now but it'll be a hard stop on spending. If so....
  2. Should I take the job if offered but let them know if I get a position in my field by the summer more relevant I have to decline it?
  3. If I take the job, how can I leverage it for work I want to do, especially since its an assistant teacher job for Pre-K? Just searching around I could get involved in my local religious community more when it comes to work but they also require office experience. What about writing samples? How could I realistically leverage this position for other teaching jobs with better pay in the future?Another option could be local community centers?
My main issue regarding it all is that I mainly have internship experience currently on my resume for the more administrative jobs which may tank other prospects in the future for me.

So, I was walking around Dubai Media City and had just finished my lunch at McDonald's when suddenly this guy stopped his car and asked how to get to Sheikh Zayed Road so he could reach the airport.
I told him which way to go, and then he asked me how long it would take to get to the airport. After I answered his questions, he thanked me and asked me which country I was from. He then mentioned that his wife in Italy was also from my country (he really knows about my country, from city and even talked some native words)....
He then offered me some perfumes as a gesture of gratitude, explaining that he wouldn't be able to take them through airport security. Initially grateful, especially seeing the "Emporio Armani" brand, I asked if he was sure. He insisted and even gave me another one, a women's perfume for my wife.
He mentioned he was a "Sales Director" in Dubai for just a week, and these were sample perfumes. He showed me his meeting invitation letter, a business card with the name "SAVIO" (forgot his last name), and had a suit in the backseat with his Armani suitcase
As I was about to accept the "gift," he then offered me a watch (which looked fake right away) in exchange for buying him 10 rims of Marlboro cigarettes from the grocery, claiming they would be very expensive in Italy due to taxes. I asked why he couldn't buy them himself, and he explained he didn't have cash and was only using a company credit card
At this point, I remembered so many threads on Reddit about the "Armani Guy," but instead of suits, this one involved cigarettes.
Since it was a hot blazing afternoon, and my building was nearly a 10-minute walk away, a bright, or rather, a stupid idea came to mind. I told him I would buy the cigarettes and asked him to take me to a nearby grocery store. We drove for about 2 minutes, and I asked him to wait in front of a building. (This building didn't have a grocery store; my office building was just next to it.)
I told him I would withdraw some cash and buy the cigarettes afterward. Instead, I went inside the building, exited from the backside, and went to my office next to the building.
From my office, I could see his car waiting there for about an hour...lol.
The guy must have missed his "flight."

That really sours me on their vibe. Not that anyone cares about my opinion hah - my question is: how is that legal? I can’t find anywhere where they give credit?
I would call it a “sample” but that’s too generous - it’s over a minute long of (in my opinion) musical genius. Can bands just do that?
I know a lot of these dearhcore/grind “side project” bands are mostly engineered products (made in the studio with virtual instruments, highly produced, etc). But I really thought, from that intro, that Mire Lore had a really artfully-dark sense of creativity.
A trivial bummer, but my question remains!

You are Helldiver of the Super Destroyer
With the death rate of Helldivers the ship would have to change hands to new ownership multiple times throughout the course of a mission. But we see the same 4 Super destroyers in orbit for the whole mission.
In addition the upgrades, equipment, money, inventories of the ship stay consistent to each helldiver as they complete missions.
My head canon is that each Super Destroyer is equipped with the DNA and uploaded mind of the helldiver as well as a processor that creates human bodies, spitting out a new one when needed. I think thats part of what makes Helldivers specialty troops over normal troops:
Helldivers never die.
If one of them falls, a carbon copy of it is spit out of the clone processor and shot at the planet wearing the same armor, same equipment, same name, albeit maybe with a different voice. This is why reinforcements work as they do, the ship has a set number of bodies stored on standy. This number can be upgraded with a booster, but when the numbers are depleted it takes time for them to be able to produce more for a mission.
By some weird science though, clones dont really work in duplicate. If multiple are awake at a time only one of them functions aside from basic brainstem functions like breathing. Only one of them can have your mind inside it, otherwise they might just have armies of all clones. Unfortunately thats not how the tech works, so helldivers are the solution.
Its also even questionable if the HellDivers are aware that this is how the process works. They may wake up from the pods each time with their last memory being the tutorial. When a helldiver lands it could think that its their first mission.
Or the opposite could be true. Maybe theres a livestream of their mind to the ship and they keep a consistent memory. Maybe their memory uploads to a fellow helldivers armomind for storage while they await a new body which is what spectator mode is. They can't do anything but watch from the drivers eyes.
In reality each helldiver may have died thousands of deaths, mind completely filled with vivid memories of the many times theyve been ripped apart, burned alive, thrown into rocks, or left behind to be eaten alive on a planet... only to come back to life and shoved into the frey once more.
Realistically the "Battlefield Injury Simulator" could actually have also been a DNA harvester taking the deep tissue sample needed to create more of you. The cardboard cutout bit in training was just them "hand waving" away why theres always replacements of you. You dont need to know how this works, your job is to spread democracy. Just dont get too attached because there will always be replacements.
This may also be why when we join a fellow helldiver we emerge from the pods of that ship. Our clone data is simply transmitted to the host ship and a copy is made and popped out aboard ready for launch. Reinforcements come from the individual ship of course, but the initial assault is led from whoevers leading the squadron.
Works for me why all my helldiver reinforcements are identical and why it takes time to get new ones past your initial inventory, your ship has to produce more clones of you to shoot at the planet. Were immortal helldivers firing volley after volley of cheaply produced, armed to the teeth, human bodies to spread democracy.
Fear not death Helldiver for you are immortal and belong to Super Earth... Forever!

Seeing how vocal Toyota and Nissan are about their solid state battery plans, I wonder if Honda is the Japanese OEM.
But more importantly, what I’m wondering is will each OEM need to individually certify B samples? Or after VW certifies them, can Ford or Honda or Tesla join the party late and go straight to a C sample JV?
Also, in regard to B samples, if you look at a battery cell as a collection of parts that needs to be assembled, if you swap out one of the components does that necessitate a complete retest of the sample (i.e. another iteration, say B1 or B2). For example, each cell will contain some catholyte and many separators. I presume that all batches of catholyte will conform to some QS determined specification and likewise for the separators. In that case, is it relevant whether or not the separators were produced by Raptor or Cobra? As long as they conform to the same specification, from the OEMs perspective does it matter how or where they were produced? As long as QS guarantees that the Raptor and Cobra separators are of equal quality, it seems that it may not be necessary to create a completely new B1 sample and run it through full testing when switching from Raptor to Cobra separators.
To take things a step further, I’m actually envisioning that it’s quite possible that in order to minimize IP theft, that all separators will be created in a consolidated 100% QS owned facility, and then the finished separators will be shipped out to JV manufacturing factories for assembly of QSE-5 cells. If that were indeed the case, whether the separators were manufactured on Raptor or Cobra or even a newer variant in the future is not relevant. It only matters that they meet a certain quality standard and specification and can be inserted into the assembly line at the gigafactory.
In this case, the machinery for producing QSE-5 cells would be completely separate from the machinery required to manufacture separators. Verifying Raptor and Cobra equivalence in regard to quality and specifications could be a far simpler and quicker task than having to generate a new B1 sample and have the OEM completely retest a far larger and exhaustive range of test cases.
Similarly, say QS makes a new cell, QSE-10 for arguments sake, with a new cathode, the only difference being the energy density and power produced because of the new cathode specification. Would this necessitate going through the entire B sample testing process again? Or at some point will simply verifying the new energy and power specifications of a new product suffice, allowing QS to put out new products in the market at a much faster cadence.
As B sample manufacturing is imminent, I hope that QS management can maybe address some of these questions in the future.
