Transmission rebuild on 2007 F150 5.4L V8 cost?
Hello everyone. I have a 2007 F150, 189K miles that recenly started missing second gear and engine RPMs just went up when I pressed the gas. I had to let off the gas and about the 5th time reving it caught the gear and shifted normally. This event started happening about 5 times before I took to local tranmisson shop.
They said (without opening it, just a test drive) 2nd to 3rd is failing and transmission needs an overhaul kit. The overhaul includes torque converter and all the clutches and fluid exchange.
They quoted me $1500-$2000. $1500 if I paid in cash.
Is this a good price for transmisson rebuild? Any other parts or services I should ask about?
Thank you,

2024.05.17 00:33 VanguardWarden Question about item price adjustment under Automatic Bonus Progression.

I've been strongly considering the Automatic Bonus Progression variant for a campaign both to make items and loot more interesting and to alleviate potential cash-taxes on players wanting to carry more than one set of weaponry. I've noticed that a lot of items, including the apex items, include unique and interesting secondary effects on top of their normal stat boosts though. I could obviously just hand-wave all those stat boosts away and still include the items in play for their secondary effects, but then the gold prices for such items will be extremely high for what they actually do compared to other items.
I could just go through such items and try to reverse-engineer the pricing of their stat boosts to readjust them for use within the variant rule, but I thought I would check here first to see if this has already been solved somewhere. Is there any sort of clear guidance for adjusting the price of items like these under automatic bonus progression, or should I just do the math myself?

Force delete mod?
I have been using cheat engine to use blocks that you normally can’t get and when I was placing the blocks to see what they look like I realized I can’t delete them anymore. Now there’s just a bunch of random blocks floating in the sky above my base. Anybody know of a way to force delete them? I tried break the unbreakable cheat but that didn’t work

(May 16, 2023) – IBC Advanced Alloys Corp. (“ ” or the “ ”) ( ) announces its financial results for the quarter ended March 31, 2024. IBC recorded its highest ever quarterly net income in the quarter of $1.36 million, or $0.01 per share, on sales of $10.2 million. Both net income and sales revenue set new quarterly records for the Company. Consolidated sales of $34.3 million on a TTM basis and sales of $27.0 million in the nine-month period ended March 31, 2024 also were the highest ever recorded. Consolidated Adjusted EBITDA rose to $2.5 million, a Q/Q increase of 325%, while YTD Adjusted EBITDA rose to $4.5 million. Consolidated operating income of $2.1 million was 24.4% higher Q/Q and flipped to a positive $3.2 million YOY. Net income for the nine months ended March 31, 2024 was $1.14 million ($0.01 per share) on sales of $27.0 million compared to a loss of $2.92 million ($0.03 per share) on sales of $21.2 million in the comparative period, representing a marked turnaround. This record performance was driven largely by increased sales and stronger gross margin performance in IBC’s Copper Alloys division, coupled with higher sales revenue from the Engineered Materials division of beryllium-aluminum products used in defense markets, and the recovery of an onerous contracts provision booked in the prior year. The Copper Alloys division also achieved near-record quarterly sales of $6.6 million, eclipsed only by sales of $7.1 million in the preceding quarter. A portion of the division’s sales over the preceding two quarters was driven by the completion of two special non-recurring projects. “The IBC team worked tirelessly to achieve some fantastic numbers and historic gains in the third fiscal quarter, which continued the strong sales and gross margin performance of the previous quarter," said Mark A. Smith, Chairman and CEO of IBC. “I like the momentum that we are generating, particularly with the leading performance of our Copper Alloys division. While market conditions have triggered closure of our Engineered Materials division sometime this summer, that team is striving to generate substantially to IBC’s bottom line as Engineered Materials completes contracts on hand.” IBC expects to incur a charge to operations in respect of its April decision to close the Engineered Materials division and is negotiating with suppliers and the building landlord to minimize such costs. Sales increased for the quarter and nine-month period ended March 31, 2024, mostly due to increased demand from customers in the defense and power generation sectors. Gross profit was positively impacted by improved material yield but negatively impacted by higher subcontract costs. Sales increased for the quarter and nine-month period ended March 31, 2024, largely due to more favorable prices for the division’s products in the commercial and defense markets. Full results can be seen in the Company’s financial statements and management’s discussion and analysis (“ ”), available at and on the Company’s website at . IBC will host a live investor webcast on Monday, May 20, 2024 at 11 a.m. Eastern featuring Mark A. Smith, CEO and Board Chairman, and Toni Wendel, Chief Financial Officer. They will discuss the Company's financial results for the quarter and nine-month periods ended March 31, 2024. IBC believes that operating income (loss) helps identify underlying trends in the business that could otherwise be distorted by the effect of certain income or expenses that the Company includes in loss for the period, and provides useful information about core operating results, enhances the overall understanding of past performance and future prospects, and allows for greater visibility with respect to key metrics used by management in financial and operational decision-making. The Company believes that Adjusted EBITDA is a useful indicator for cash flow generated by the business that is independent of IBC’s capital structure. Operating income (loss) and Adjusted EBITDA should not be considered in isolation or construed as an alternative to loss for the period or any other measure of performance or as an indicator of our operating performance. Operating income (loss) and Adjusted EBITDA presented here may not be comparable to similarly titled measures presented by other companies. Other companies may calculate similarly titled measures differently, limiting their usefulness as comparative measures to IBC’s data. Operating income (loss) represents income or loss for the quarter, and year-to-date, excluding foreign exchange loss, interest expense, interest income, other income (expense) and income taxes that the Company does not believe are reflective of its core operating performance during the periods presented. A reconciliation of the quarter and year-to-date loss to operating income (loss) follows: Adjusted EBITDA represents the Company’s income (loss) for the period, and year-to-date, before interest, income taxes, depreciation, amortization, and share-based compensation. Sales of $34.3 million on a trailing 12-month (“TTM”) basis and sales of $27.0 million in the nine-month period ended March 31, 2024, also were the highest ever recorded. Copper Alloys division sales of $6.6 million were higher by 11.9% quarter over quarter ("Q/Q"), and Engineered Materials division sales were higher by 97.5% Q/Q. On a TTM basis, Copper Alloys sales of $24 million set a record for a 12-month period for the division. 2024.05.16 23:30 Immediate_Bank_7085 What type of work/trade can I get in Germany within 4 to 5 months, which I could be useful in other EU countries??

I'm currently in Germany. I'm originally from Poland. master engineer IT with digital electronics. over 18 years of experience in soft-dev. I don't want to work for IT companies at all. I explored all types and sizes of companies, in two countries. Everywhere IT companies have the same problems. Polish software turns out is made a lot better. Germany is 15 - 20 years behind Poland in the digitalization, and they won't catch up. I want to do my own stuff. To do so I need a normal day job, something in trades would be great. I know it might by hard to find a 40h/week job without overtime in Germany. Something with 30 or 35 h/week would be awesome. I tried to work as telecommunication technician, but that area is a disaster (that is why I know Germany won't catch up with the digitalization). Most of the service jobs (i.e. public transport, railway) is a disaster. I wanted to work in a shop, I have work experience in a supermarket and a sport shop, but to work on a cash register in Germany you have to have a finished vocational training which takes 3 years (for me 2) with scraps for pay. In Poland, in a supermarket, I had after 4 months a palletjack certificate, top 5 speed on a cash register and I would know all the processes. So except of cutting cost, and exploitation I have no idea why they ignore my experience and need that training. If some of you have an idea which vocational training is worth doing, I would appreciate it. Currently I'm thinking about doing training for a Warehouse clerk with forklift license and PLC programmer. For the later I have knowledge and skills. I'm the third generation engineer in my family. Electricity and electronics were my toys since I remember. Asm and C were my first programming languages (as teenager), and I have played over the years with PLC and similar devices. Getting education in that area looks like a long road. The German industry today seams dying exactly like it happened in Poland in the 1990s. Germans have moved a lot of things to China, or Chinese companies bought German companies and pose as Germans with production moved to China (Germans falsely believe the German made things are better. That's a fact. I saw that myself, the Internet connections are an example. Prepaid plans in the Turkish shops have better and a cheaper offer than the German main providers, but only immigrants are using them, and Germans buy expensive plans in German providers. In Poland the same company offers 4 - 8 times more GBs for a bit smaller price per month). Germans are also closing factories in Poland today, and moving them to China. The German government is incompetent and has no idea about economy and industry (i.e. the only PVs factory in German went bankrupt, and they are now fully dependent on PVs from China). It doesn't look like getting into industry automation is a good idea. Warehouse looks more stable. The goods from China someone has to process and store somewhere. This is also a skill useful worldwide. This is important for me, as with each month, I'm getting more confident, that things will only get worse in Germany and more I read the German law it looks like as it is also a country not to live in. I'm not going back to Poland. What do you think about those two options? Do you have some other ideas or tips? Do you have an idea what I could do to get money to pay the bills, not work for 6 days for 10 to 12 hours, and have time to do my own software? I'm a union member so I have help at hand.

2024.05.16 23:03 Massive-Boss-4662 The bad and the good, and the bad. About asian mom and just ranting

I am 22 M asian, first generation student attending a community college planning to transfer. My relationship with my mom has been horrible. I have been mentally abused by her for years and I will never able to change her mind. I did not take proper prep classes back in high school so when I started going to college I had to learn things from the beginning and had to learn how to study and taking advantage of resources. Bare in mind both of my parents has only been to middle school. I had absolutely no help, other than getting yelled at and looked down upon.
She would threaten to kill herself in a car crash if i did not transfer to a good uni or pass classes because "I wasn't doing it fast enough like the others" or "this guy who got accepted to berkley and has better grades than you" and the guy she's comparing me to, used to be my childhood friend who used us to get into the usa, lived here, we gave him food, drove him to college, and he never said thank you or showed appreciation and just dipped and only calls me if he needs something, but i have already deleted him from everywhere and he doesnt live here anymore. He is the worst friend I have ever had, he never want to learn to play any games, he just wants to cheat when he gets owned, and bro thinks i actually agree with him on this one. I fucking hate cheaters. He and his friend group back in his country would all cheat.
I have failed classes before and she would make me not able to sleep by talking down on me until 5AM when it's finals week and I am already stressed by her and myself. and trust me when i say i am barely going into the details of what she has said to me. Just imagine every single thing you should never tell your child and up that by 50x.
I have focused my entire 4 years tried my best to get an AS degree computer science and I did, with 3.37 ish gpa, horrible in her eyes of course. I took so much classes because she wanted me to "hurry up" so i would suffer grades with the amount of classes I had to take, and extra classes because she needs me to go to a good uni to transfer, so i have to meet a bunch of uc's different requirements and hell, computer science transfers these days have upped their requirements by a whole lot, equaling more classes that i technically dont need to increase my chances to get into more ucs, which also fucked up my grades.
I was so happy to even pass thru calculus 1-3 with Bs with no previous calculus courses in high school or even pre calc. I jumped straight to hard courses that I never knew how to prepare for, but still passed because i tried so hard and she doesnt even understand what i went through.
This will be a turn of events, because after I get to transfer, i decided to change my major to MIS, because it was a better fit for my goals and situation since the requirements for UC is higher than what I got. I am going to a CSU and not an UC and because of that and the asian culture about how important their face and ego is for their child, i am a disgrace.
I lowkey just want some reinsurance of random internet bros here that I am going to be successful, i am and will be more successful than the guy my mom who is comparing to, who studies math at berkley. Although you guys dont know much about my career, i am going into the AI industry, such as AI engineers and stuff. I have already got an internship lined up (for the first time) this summer for AI programmer for a local place! but they do not offer a permanent job after it.
Anyways, I wanted to post it here because I have been watching healthygamer since forever, i am fairly introverted and i really wanted a girlfriend right? suprise surprise, and there i am, during these years I see everybody into relationships and all and I have trouble even opening my mic in a video game. That was 4 years ago, no friends no love life. I hated myself and with the adcamic pressure i keep fighting with daily made me even more fucked up.
So actually the videos have helped me, i think it was like him saying u gotta start at level 1, make friends and level up your social skills! So i did, it was hard but i did, i meet a great female friend who was willing to help me practice talking online, i did not care about dating, because i was happy to even have a friend, fast foward 3 years, we're still great online friends, nothing romantic, purely plantonic because she herself is honestly super emotionally smart, and we were able to put a barrier right off the bat, she even taught me how to be a good bf if i ever do find someone, she has taught me so much it's crazy. We're so open and clear with everything we do and talk about. So why am i saying all of these? because over the course of 2 years, i have dated 2 girls but it was all online so it didnt workout. But well, experience is experience . Fast foward to now, i have met a girl i like irl, and she likes me back too, and shes cute and i love her features (shes not asian) and fast foward a bit more, i invited her to my place and watched some shows and a sleepover, i was happy as fuck, like i went from the old me to this? is this a dream? and when i drove her back , my mom knocked on my door and she fucking said "shes ugly, just be friends only" in the most grossed tone ever and she keeps it going for 45 mins and telling me the most racist fucked up close minded mindset i have ever heard. WHILE IM IN MY FINALS WEEK TRYING TO STUDY AND DO HOMEWORK SO I CAN GET GOOD GRADES AND SHE IS FUCKING MY MOOD during the most important times, every single time. and when i said i disagree, she talks back, and some how she brought up the berkley guy again and tries to hurt my feelings
i also work part time and got out of my comfort zone because of my friend, so i dont rot of doing nothing, and it helped my social skills even more.
There is so much i havent mentioned about my mom, but just know it gets worst.
TLDR: depressed, skinny fat, no relationship, no dating, introverted lonely asian kid with academic pressure while the mentally ill asian mom makes it worst. Can't move out, too expensive, financial dependent on mom, and toxic comparisons. TO, leveled up social skills, toned up physical appearance from working out, seeing someone romantically, a clearer career path, but mentally ill mom still exists, and ruins everything.

2024.05.16 22:30 aznpersuazion Artificial Intelligence is NOT a Good Career

As with most things, the opinions expressed in this post are my own. Consider this as just one data point, and not as a guide to your career.
I've been working in the Data/AI space for 5 years now and I've seen hundreds of starry eyed people wanting to work in A.I. because they want to work with the latest and coolest cutting edge technology. But I want to share with you a few reasons why A.I. is not a good career choice.
  1. A.I. positions could end up like the "data scientist" position. Looking at the history of the data scientist position, in 2010-2020, the hype around data science made it so that millions of people flocked to that position. Companies eventually realized that most them actually didn't need data science, and the impact of the position didn't always help them profit. The demand of the job has plummeted in recent years, leaving millions of aspiring data scientists unemployed or needing to pursue a different career.
  2. A.I. positions will be less than .0001% of tech engineering jobs. In the next few decades, the demand for software and data engineering roles will be much more needed at most companies that A.I. roles. Only a small group companies will a be pursuing A.I. initiatives, while the majority of companies will still need software and data engineers. But because 90% of tech news is A.I. related, there will be a massive influx of people trying to enter the space.
  3. The barriers to entry are huge. To pursue a career in A.I. and machine learning. A person's understanding of statistics and software engineering need to be extremely high. To get to that level of knowledge requires much more dedication and studying than most people imagine. Becoming a decent software engineer or data professional is already difficult for the average person.
Before you decide to pursue this as a career, it's important to consider some of the cons listed below. Perhaps consider taking a smaller step first and trying to land a job as a software engineer or data analyst. If you're already in a technical field, consider not putting all your eggs into one basket, and making sure you know enough skills to stay gainfully employed in the job market.

2024.05.16 22:22 dashigod1 Cheap cash car or finance a new car

My situation is as follows. I had a bankruptcy 2 years ago , my current credit score is 615, I have 5k liquid that i can use, make 6.5k per month on average, and I need a car.
Option A) do I roll the dice, buy a cash car, probably a 1990s old Honda or something similar, and pay for the maintenance as it comes along. Usually these vehicles do not run and need a tow, will likely need engine work to start and get running.
Option B) finance a newer car, likely have to eat the higher monthly payments and interest until my credit recovers but I wouldn't have to worry about the maintenance and repairs, it would just be the monthly fee.
Which option would you choose in this scenario?

2024.05.16 22:17 ja_feel From Snacks to SaaS, and lessons I've learned along the way

Hey Entrepreneur!
I wanted to share the story of the past year and a half of my life - a tale of challenges, tech innovation, and a whole lot of snacks. This isn’t just about launching a product; it’s about solving a big problem that inspired an entire platform.
TL;DR: My buddy and I sold our previous snack subscription box company and made a cool thing

The Seeds of Discontent

At our previous company, my buddy Mike and I saw how powerful influencer marketing could be. Our business, delivering international snacks to doorsteps, was perfect for social media. But managing these influencer partnerships was a huge headache.
Each new campaign started with excitement but quickly became overwhelming. We dealt with many social media platforms, each with its own rules and metrics. Keeping track of everything felt like trying to solve a puzzle with pieces that kept changing. The tools we used were basic. They helped us send products and payments but didn’t offer much for managing or understanding the big picture.
Tracking our campaign performance was a real pain. With just a small team running our marketing, we were juggling hundreds of influencers at the same time. It was hard to keep an eye on everyone and make quick decisions. Plus, the data we got was often late and messy, making things even more frustrating.
This constant struggle showed us a big gap in our toolkit. We needed a solution that could make managing influencers easier and give us useful insights, something as dynamic and global as our product. This ongoing frustration planted the seeds for what would eventually become our new company.

Market Research: Finding the Pain Points

After selling our previous business, Mike and I took a six-month break. We explored different ideas, from unique apps to a Castle Crashers style game. But our experience working with creators kept pulling us back to marketing. We knew the challenges of influencer marketing needed to be addressed.
We talked to our network in the e-commerce space to see if they had similar problems. The feedback was eye-opening. Many businesses struggled with existing tools, which mostly acted as simple marketplaces, where interactions were brief and not very deep.
Even worse, the few ambassador tools available were expensive and limited. When I searched for an ambassador software tool that worked across all social networks, the options I found required scheduling demos days in advance. They often lacked direct API connections and supported only a few major social media networks. The starting prices were high, often around $5k per month, with costs going up as the program expanded.
This research not only validated our experiences but also showed us a strategic need for our own tool. We realized we needed a solution not just to fill the current gap but also as a key part of our marketing stack for future businesses. We were determined to build something that wouldn’t force us—or anyone else—to pay a crazy amount for effective influencer marketing.

Designing the Dream: Our New Business’ Blueprint

With a clear vision from our frustrations and market research, we set out to create our new business. Our goal was to build a comprehensive tool that would change influencer marketing. Here’s what we focused on:
Each feature of our tool we were creating was designed to address specific pain points we identified. Our goal was to offer a tool that was powerful, efficient, adaptable, and enjoyable for both brands and their ambassador partners.

Launching Our New Business: Embracing User Feedback

After about 18 months of design and development, we started the soft launch of our new business on May 1st. Opting for a soft launch allowed us to focus on real-time feedback and fine-tuning over making a big initial splash. This approach is crucial - not just for introducing our product but for understanding how it fits into the real world, where actual users rely on it.

Initial Rollout and Testing

Our launch a couple of weeks ago marked the start of our public journey. We released our new tool we created with ambassador apps on the App Store and Google Play, and opened our web-based company portal for business use. This phase is not about mass marketing but about engaging with our professional network and early adopters testing everything in real-world conditions. This includes real companies and creators, ensuring our platform is robust and responsive.

Iterative Feedback Integration

Feedback from these early stages is invaluable. We have set up multiple channels to communicate with our initial users to ensure they feel supported and heard. This ongoing dialogue is critical as it helps us identify and implement necessary adjustments quickly. Each piece of feedback is a step towards improving functionality and user experience.

Continued Development Based on Early Insights

Since we are still in the soft launch phase, our focus remains on refining the platform. A recent development was adding the Creator Hub and Company Center about a month ago—enhancements from recognizing limitations in our initial setup.
Creator Hub: The Creator Hub allows businesses to manage their ambassador relationships dynamically. Companies can discover and invite creators who match their interests and campaign goals, ensuring more personalized and effective collaborations.
Company Center: This feature allows creators to independently discover and apply to various ambassador programs, giving them the freedom to engage with brands that align with their interests.
These features aim to make the connection between companies and creators as seamless and beneficial as possible, accommodating a wide range of marketing strategies and campaign sizes.

How The Tool We Created Works: Streamlining Influencer Marketing

Our tool is designed to simplify and enhance the influencer marketing process for both companies and creators. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of how our platform works:
  1. Signup and Integration
- Companies can quickly create customizable signup forms. They can also invite new ambassadors directly from the Creator Hub that match their interests. This flexibility helps integrate Social Strudel into existing marketing workflows.
2. Ambassador Onboarding
- Creators apply to become ambassadors, download the Social Strudel app, and connect their social media accounts. This ensures that once approved, creators can start engaging with brand campaigns promptly.
3. Application Review
- Companies get notifications of new applicants and can approve or decline them based on their fit and relevance to marketing goals. This step ensures only the best ambassadors represent the brand.
4. Targeted Segmentation
- Companies can segment ambassadors into groups, allowing them to tailor activities and communications. This supports targeted marketing strategies and more personalized engagement.
5. Activity Management
- Companies set up new activities on various social platforms for ambassadors. Examples include:
- These are just examples, and activities can be tailored to fit different platforms and goals.
6. Real-Time Notifications
- Creators get notifications about new activities through push notifications and email. They can browse the app for available activities, ensuring they never miss an opportunity.
7. Submission and Verification
- Creators submit proof of activity completion directly through the app. This makes managing submissions easy and organized for companies.
8. Activity Approval
- Companies review submitted activities, approving or declining them based on quality and alignment with campaign objectives. This maintains high standards and ensures effectiveness.
9. Rewards and Motivation
- Upon approval, creators earn points, which can be redeemed for various rewards. This system motivates creators to produce high-quality content and stay engaged.
10. Custom Rewards Creation
11. Reward Notifications and Redemption
12. Reward Distribution Management

Looking Forward: The Road Ahead for Us

As we continue with our new business, we are committed to not just meeting but exceeding the evolving needs of digital marketing. We’ve only just begun to tap into our platform’s potential, and our roadmap is geared towards enhancing our service and expanding our reach.

Enhanced Integration Capabilities

We aim to expand our platform’s integration capabilities, adding support for social networks like WhatsApp, Discord, Telegram, and Quora, and adapting to new emerging platforms like the anticipated Vine 2. By covering more platforms, we provide our users with tools to engage with audiences everywhere online.

Advanced Analytics and AI Implementation

Understanding the crucial role of data, we plan to enhance our analytics engine with advanced metrics and predictive analytics. By integrating AI, we aim to give users insights that reflect current trends and anticipate future behaviors.

Continued Focus on User Experience

User feedback is key and remains a cornerstone of our development. We are committed to refining the user experience based on real usage and feedback. This includes enhancing our mobile apps and ensuring the Creator Hub and Company Center are intuitive and robust. Both are still in early stages, and we are actively working to improve these features.

Expanding Educational Resources

To help users fully leverage the tool we created, we plan to expand our educational resources. This includes tutorials, best practice guides, and case studies for new users, and advanced content for experienced marketers to refine their strategies.

Final Reflections

If you've stuck with me this long through our story, thank you! Reflecting on this journey, it’s clear that every challenge and setback helped shape our vision and refine our approach. From the initial frustrations to the detailed market research, every step has been a learning experience. We're excited about the future and committed to improving our platform constantly to meet the evolving needs of our users and potential users. If you have any questions or feedback at all, I’d love to hear it! Your insights and support mean a lot as my partner and I continue to grow and innovate.

2024.05.16 21:57 SistersAndBoggs Birmingham Service Industry Personnel Who Have Grievances With Your Employers

I lived in another state before Alabama and was a party to a multi-employee wage & labor dispute. Please know, I am not 'the guy who sues people'. This was a unique circumstance where we were approached by a lawyer who was representing another employee in our office, and it was explained to us clearly that our rights were being violated and legal wages owed to us were being withheld. It was not a class action claim (too few claimants), but the same lawyer represented each of us individually. Our claims ranged from misclassification (being illegally classified as a 'manager' so that we weren't eligible for overtime), unpaid breaks, and most importantly, major tip violations, where the employer was keeping our tips. The lawyer calculated each of our claims individually and sent separate demand letters. The employer then retained their own attorney who reviewed our claims against the state labor code (which our attorney had generously provided), and advised their client to promptly pay our claims so as to avoid a guaranteed loss in court + far greater attorney fees.
I say that to say this. I am constantly reading comments from workers both within this Reddit sub as well as the occasional google review of restaurants where a disgruntled current or former employee will anonymously outline ways in which they feel they were cheated. If you feel you have a reasonable wage or labor claim, I highly advise you to make note of any any all suspected violations, and contact a local wage & labor attorney. My claim was not in Alabama, and I have no allegiance to any local attorneys, therefore I am listing 3 that I found at first glance.
I am not an attorney and don't want to speak as one (super annoying when people do this) but I can tell you that if you are in the below criteria, you most definitely have a claim:
Did your boss or owner tell you at hiring, something along the lines of "The credit card tips at the cash register are too hard to keep up with, so what we do is pay everyone a higher hourly rate than anyone else around here, and it works out better for you that way" ? Not legal. All tips taken during a time frame are legally required to be properly accounted, and distributed to the employees classified as 'service' within that time frame. It can come later in the form of a check, and a % of it (roughly 3.5%) can be deducted for the CC fee, but this must be calculated and paid to the penny.
Did your boss convince you to waive your right to breaks and allow you to work 8 straight hours, eating at your desk so that you can "not have to take breaks and get off an hour earlier"? Not legal, you cannot waive this right even if you want to.
There are a slew of other wage and labor claims that your bosses or owners could be violating. During my ordeal, I personally read the labor codes of my state beforehand to try and see off the top of my head which ones had been violated. I counted 8. After meeting with the attorney and answering 100+ questions, they found 19 labor codes that had been violated. I liked his number much better.
If you are averse to attorneys, you also have the option of making a claim directly with the state labor board, who will investigate your claim and get you your money. It takes much longer.
The restaurant business is somewhat in shambles right now despite the lines you see out the door when you drive by. The cost of goods and services is at an all time high. Labor is at an all time high. Profit percentages are at an all time low. I have the deepest respect for the plight of the mom & pop restaurant owner. But the law is the law, and a local business owners rough tides cannot be stilled by the exploitation of workers.
Here are 3 wage & labor attorneys I found local to Birmingham:

2024.05.16 21:56 Jaynewf Cheat engine mod

Does anyone know if there's a mod to boost the stats on shields within the game? I've dabbled with some mods and honestly it's sometimes very difficult to decrypt how to apply said effects to certain items. I've seen mention of a modded shield but can't seem to find a cheat table which accomplishes this.

2024.05.16 21:29 addictionpro0624 A Little Recovery Insight and Inspiration

Dear Gambling Addiction,
I love to write so I thought I would write you a letter today. It has been almost 16 years since we last met, and to be honest, I don't miss you one bit.
There was a time when you were the only thing that mattered. I would do anything for you. Lie, cheat, steal, not eat, not sleep, or anything really. When I say you were the only thing, you were. I was obsessed with you. You plagued my thoughts and made me feel things that were uncomfortable.
Prior to being introduced to you, I was a moral person. I liked helping people and I was happy. I had friends, good relationships with my family, people trusted me, I worked, and I had money to pay my bills.
When you entered my life on my 21st birthday, I was partially intrigued but mostly I was frustrated. I lost $20 in about one minute on a craps table. I wanted my $20 back because I was not clear on why I lost the money. And the game of craps did not make sense to me. I thought if I was going to gamble again, I would play slots. So much easier and all I had to do was pull a handle.
In these very early stages, I did not think about you much. I believe though that you were there in my brain maybe trying to figure out how to get me more engaged. Maybe you were there attempting to entice me with needing to win back that $20.
A few years later, I found another friend to spend my time with and their name was cocaine. Well, living in Las Vegas when one could not sleep because of the drugs, the casinos were there with bright, flashing lights and the intrigue of winning money. So I met you again, and discovered that playing video poker machines was a great way to spend my time while high.
This was the start of our relationship that lasted quite a while.
In the beginning stages of my addiction with you, I was able to have some fun and enjoyed most of the times I had with you. Over time though, you consumed my soul. I did not care whether I lived or died. I just needed to be with you and I loved only you.
Our relationship lasted 14 years in total with breaks during some of that time, but even when I was not playing, I was still thinking about you. Wondering how I could get together with you again. Money was usually the main reason why I could not connect with you, but I also found it more challenging to find places to visit you.
Honestly, over time my relationship with you became rather tedious and boring. I started to feel like I might need to separate myself from you. I did not know why I was feeling this way, but on some level I just wanted something different for myself. I was tired of lying to people about you, and I was getting frustrated with being broke all the time. There was also this emptiness that even you could not fill. Most importantly, my real relationship with my husband was beginning to suffer. I did care about him and he really became more important than you. Sometimes I felt like I cheated on him with you. I do believe that my moral compass was questioning all that I was doing with you, and it just was beginning to not feel right.
On June 24, 2008 I decided to end my relationship with you. This was a very hard thing for me to do. After all, you were the only important thing in my life and I just wanted to be with you as much as possible. But on a sleepless night in June, I was watching my husband sleep and felt this overwhelming desire to be with him and not you. I felt like I could no longer lie to him about us. These feelings were quite overwhelming too almost to the point of if I didn't tell him about us, I might go crazy. There were just so many emotions running through me, and I decided to break it off with you. When he woke up, I told him everything about us.
June 24, 2008 was the best day and the hardest day of my life! I knew that once I told my husband everything that I would need to let you go. It was definitely a hard decision to make but I could not go on living or being with you.
The first few days of not having you in my life were a whirlwind of emotions. I do not recall another time when I cried so much. As I talked to others about us, I did start to feel better. And I went to meetings where others were talking about their own relationships with something similar to ours. The details were different but similar in that all of us wanted to end our relationships.
Over the weeks and months that followed, I continued to go to meetings and was learning to live without you. I had a lot to process and many feelings to address. Fortunately I had a lot of support from family and friends, but I did have to work on regaining their trust. When you cheat, people do not easily trust again. And I had to give up my finances to my husband. That was okay because I simply did not want to see you again or be tempted by you. Without access to cash or credit cards, it was just a little bit easier to let you go.
I also found that I needed to give up some control over certain things. First it was the finances. Then I discovered letting go was also needed. I started to let go of things that I could not control, and fixing the things I could. My focus was specifically on how to rebuild after a tumultuous relationship with you.
I worked every day to learn to live without you. I learned to feel my feelings and process them instead of covering them up by playing with you. I learned how to think more productively and to make goals for myself. I learned how to manage my finances and I was slowly regaining trust from my husband and others.
The work was hard but I kept going. I just did not want you in my life any longer, and no matter how I felt or what I thought, I was not going to re-engage with you. I was working a program of recovery and very proud of each day that I did not want to be with you. There were some days I thought about you, but it ended there. Just thoughts that were quickly replaced with all the positive benefits of not having you in my life.
All these years later, I still think about you but not in the ways you would want. I just have thoughts about how wonderful my life is without you. I have no urges to see you, and nothing that I can think of would bring me back to you. I have too much to lose now.
In a way, I do thank you for being in my life. I believe I am a better person for knowing you. You taught me what a person is capable of during a relationship with you, and with that, I can help others now. Our relationship also opened my mind to the human spirit and how resilient we really are. We can overcome great obstacles and learn to live without you or others like you.

  • On April 11, 2024, the Company announced that it had entered into a share exchange (the "Share Exchange Agreement") agreement pursuant to which it will acquire all of the issued and outstanding common shares of Boroo Gold LLC from an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of Boroo Pte Ltd. Outlook
The Proposed Transaction to acquire Boroo Gold is a transformational step for the Company. With an expected closing in the third quarter of 2024, the Proposed Transaction is expected to accelerate the path to a multi-asset Mongolia-focused mining group and, importantly, is projected to immediately provide strong cash flow to support growth plans, further improved with the recent strong gold prices. The Proposed Transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including receipt of approval by the Company's shareholders at the annual general and special meeting of shareholders expected to be held at the end of June 2024, and certain regulatory approvals, including the approvals of the Toronto Stock Exchange and applicable Mongolian authorities.
The near term focus for the Company is on maximising production and cash flows at ATO Phase 1, executing on a successful completion of the Phase 2 Expansion, where construction activity continues, with a planned commissioning in Q1 2026, and on working towards closing the Proposed Transaction and planning for the successful integration of Boroo Gold into the Company's operations.
With the projected additional operating cash flow accruing from the Boroo Gold Transaction, the Company expects to be well-placed to increase exploration activities at both production centres with the aim of extending resources, reserves and production. The Company will also consider opportunistic acquisitions in Mongolia.
The Company's condensed interim consolidated financial results for the quarter ended March 31, 2024 have been filed on SEDAR+. The full version of the condensed interim consolidated financial statements and associated management's discussion & analysis can be viewed on the Company's website at www.steppegold.com or under the Company's profile on SEDAR+ at www.sedarplus.ca.

Non-IFRS Performance Measures
The Company uses the following non-IFRS measures: Adjusted EBITDA, EBITDA and AISC. EBITDA is earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization. Adjusted EBITDA is defined as adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization. AISC is calculated using cash costs in addition to general and administration, asset retirement costs, and sustaining capital, less certain non-recurring costs (notably exploration costs at the Mungu deposit) to provide an overall company outlook on the total cost required to sell an ounce of gold.
Management believes that these non-IFRS measures provide useful information to investors in measuring the financial performance of the Company for the reasons outlined below. These measures do not have a standardized meaning prescribed by IFRS and therefore they may not be comparable to similarly titled measures presented by other publicly traded companies and should not be construed as an alternative to other financial measures determined in accordance with IFRS. The Company believes that these measures, together with measures determined in accordance with IFRS, provide investors with an improved ability to evaluate the underlying performance of the Company. The inclusion of these measures is meant to provide additional information and should not be used as a substitute for performance measures prepared in accordance with IFRS. These measures are not necessarily standard and therefore may not be comparable to other issuers. Further details of non-IFRS measures noted above can be found in the Company's management's discussion & analysis for the three months ended March 31, 2024.

2024.05.16 19:11 bestanonever Starcraft 2 Complete Trilogy, from the point of view of a casual Real-Time Strategy gamer

I’m not a stranger to the single player campaigns in Real-Time Strategy (RTS) games, even when it’s a genre I’m not really any good at. In the early 2000s, I’ve played all the Age of Empires games, Age of Mythology, Rise of Nations, Stronghold 1 and, more relevant to this review, Warcraft 3 and its expansion. A decade later and inspired by the announcements of the, then upcoming, Warcraft Movie, I played the campaigns of Warcraft 1 & 2 and, right after, the original Starcraft (SC1) and Brood War. This was at some point in 2014. Of these older Blizzard games, I liked SC1 the most, even when I only remember some simple things from it: the zerg were my favorite species to play with, Sarah Kerrigan (the Queen of Blades) was a good tragic character, Zeratul was a cool name and Arcturus Mengsk was a bastard that didn’t have his comeuppance in neither the base game or Brood War.
And here we are, in 2024, and I’m finally playing the complete Starcraft 2 (SC2) trilogy. For the first-timers, SC2 is a space-opera RTS with 3 big species colliding in conflict: the Terrans (space humans), the Zerg (the bad aliens, dominated by an “overmind” telepathically, with this leader being, due to the events of SC1, Sarah Kerrigan) and the Protoss (the honorable good aliens, that are also connected to each other with their minds, but nobody dominates anyone in particular). What better way to begin our journey than to spread our…

Wings of Liberty (WoL) - 2010 -

The starting campaign is all about the Terrans (humans), putting you in the role of Jim Raynor, a survivor from the first game. First thing I noticed was that the graphics showed their age a little bit, with the worst part being the heavily-compressed CGI cutscenes. Over the years, I’ve seen other people play this game and it always looked incredible, even as late as in 2018. Well, it didn’t look incredible anymore but the graphics were just fine. The good thing is that the art style was strong enough to make the less-than-ideal textures and animations still shine. Also, the production values were excellent all around.
Anyway, as soon as I got used to the graphics, I discovered a big positive aspect of SC2. I quickly fell in love with the new ship hub between missions. Instead of a decorated simple menu (like Age of Empires or Stronghold), you were presented with different rooms inside a spaceship, and you could talk to characters, spend money to upgrade your army and see a small in-engine cutscene or two before the next objective. This hub is where the majority of the storytelling happened and I’d love to see more RTS do something like this.
The campaign was an excellent tutorial for newbies (like me!), as every mission was focused on a single new playable unit at a time, and they kept adding more and more of these units in future missions, until you were using most of them seamlessly by the endgame.
I started playing with the “Normal” difficulty but soon settled with “Casual” because the game wouldn’t…

Stop rushing me

I found out that what seemed like a substantial portion of the missions put you on a timer, one way or another. Either you had something that was going to explode or the enemy’s faction was destroying an important installation or you had to hold on until reinforcements arrived. More often than not, the game would pressure you to finish the mission as soon as possible and I didn’t like that. My favorite missions in RTS are always the ones without a time limit, where maybe there are never-ending hordes of enemies coming at you at regular intervals but if you survive, you can get stronger for as long as you want and you are the one to decide when it’s time to attack a particular fortress and move on. Well, in all fairness, SC2 had some missions like that but it usually defaulted to rushing you. And I like to play at a relaxed pace and the great thing here, for a noob like me, is that I was able to complete the totality of SC2 without cheats because the “Casual” difficulty allowed me to win every level with ease, even with the aforementioned time limit.
Most missions usually were just about 20 to 30 minutes long, so moving through the campaign was a very breezy affair once you’ve adjusted the difficulty to your liking.
What about the story in WoL? Well, first, I had to open up wikis every time a character other than Mengks, Kerrigan, Raynor or Zeratul came to the screen because I couldn’t remember any of them from SC1, let alone all the particular factions besides the big species. Second, the overall plot was a touch weird: the story started with Raynor plotting his revenge against Emperor Mengsk, the big bad from SC1, and somewhere towards the middle, the story turned into a quest to de-zerg our favorite Queen of Blades. By the end of this game, Raynor felt no closer to beat Mengsk but now his human-again “darling” Sarah Kerrigan was back. I don’t know about you guys, but the whole story was a bit meandering, with many supporting characters that didn’t amount to much in the long run. It all started as a human campaign against the evil emperor and it soon turned into a Zerg matter, which all lead us to the real…

Heart of the Swarm (HotS) - 2013 -

The Queen of Blades doesn’t spend too much time being human before she returns to her usual Zerg form again. Now, that’s a very flexible body that can withstand anything.
This time around, we controlled the Zerg, from the point of view of Sarah Kerrigan. This campaign was, just like in SC1, my favorite in terms of gameplay. There’s something about the Zerg that appeals to my lame RTS skills. The strategy of overwhelming the enemy with way more units that they can handle always works best with the Zerg, the species you can count on to throw a gazillion disposable minions at your enemies.
Also, Blizzard decided to improve the way you unlock upgrades to your armies. Now you can choose perks or special units and change them anytime you are in your returning hub area, instead of spending limited money that you’d never get back, like in WoL. I found myself experimenting a lot more with the multiple units and trying most options thanks to the new easier way to upgrade. And I thought the graphics improved a little bit, which was something nice to see.
This campaign had more solo missions, when you were just controlling Kerrigan or a bunch of hero units, without any base building. These were always fun to do and you could relax and focus on the voices and grand speeches.
And speaking of voices, starting with this campaign we got a lot more of what I wanted to see from day one with SC2: characters with excellent post-processed voices with cool one-liners and badass postures. Everyone had an interesting sound here, from Abathur, moving through the Queen of Blade’s assistant Izsha with her bedroom eyes and other allies like Zagarah, the reluctant brood mother, or some surprising returning characters from SC1. The terrans in WoL were too human, too “normal”, even when some of them had cool voices. I wanted to hear unrealistic deep and alien sounds, instead, and HotS delivered that in spades. For other examples of games with voice acting like this, I always think about the Darksiders series and this particular trailer for World of Warcraft.
I wouldn’t say HotS was a better story than WoL but it was certainly more entertaining to me. There was a good amount of dubious stuff that you had to ignore to keep enjoying the premise, like when they found the original “primal” Zerg, and these beings called themselves “primal Zerg”. This is like the Aztecs and Mayas calling themselves “indians” or “native americans”. It doesn’t work like that. And something else that doesn’t quite work that I realized while reading wikis… wasn’t Sarah Kerrigan sort of a bad guy at the end of SC1? I think that these new games rewrote the way the protagonists see her and she’s very easily redeemed in the eyes of Jim Raynor and the rest. Hell, Raynor ended SC1 saying he’d be the one to kill her and now she was his “darling” again? And to keep up with this redemption arc, the Queen of Blades is the one to finally put an end to Mengsk’s life, in a bit of poetic justice.
And of course, there was a new big bad called Amon, that is barely present here, but hey, it’s a good excuse to make Kerrigan not only a full Zerg again, but also evolve with the powers of the Primal Zerg. She had to be ready for whatever was going to happen in…

Legacy of the Void (LotV) - 2015 -

Probably the best campaign, even when playing as Protross wasn’t as exciting for me as playing with Zergs (poor terrans were always a distant third). Blizzard kept all the improvements of HotS in terms of visual and gameplay upgrades and we still had these excellent ship hubs to talk to everyone relevant to the campaign. And the voices here were top-notch! There were lots and lots of fantastic post-processed voice acting, including a character voiced by no other than John de Lancie of Q’s fame (Star Trek: The Next Generation).
I think they reached the best balance between missions where you played with heroes, missions that rushed you and missions that allowed you to play for as long as you want. Also, you’d get to play as Terrans and Zergs in the finale, too! A terrific way to close this trilogy and the franchise, as a whole.
Now, the story itself veered too much into the fantasy realm, particularly by the final levels. Suddenly, this Amon being was an unstoppable force of nature by itself, so you didn’t need political intrigue anymore. Every faction had to unite against him or die and then, the only way to really defeat Amon was for Sarah Kerrigan to evolve once more (this time into a Xel’Naga) and fight against him.
I enjoyed the whole journey, but the Queen of Blades turning super Saiyan/a golden angel to save the day felt a lot more like something that’d happen in Warcraft than this particular sci-fi universe. Knowing the full story now, I’d say (from what I remember) SC1 and Brood War were more about politics and the big picture and more sci-fi in detriment of the characters and SC2 was much more character-driven and with a story that leaves its own genre behind, by the end (prophecies, eldritch beings that defied the whole galaxy, Sarah Kerrigan becoming a sort of goddess). I’d say SC1 was more serious and believable but it left me feeling a bit cold, a decade ago, and this game, on one hand, was much sillier and with a heavy dose of fantasy in the depiction of the main events but, on the other hand, it felt more personal and warmer. I see myself replaying SC2 in a few years from now, just for the crazy adventure.
TL;DR: All in all, the SC2 trilogy was very entertaining and if you never played it before don’t hesitate to give it a try. It’s very welcoming for newcomers of the RTS genre, the story is bananas but it’s never boring, the production values are really strong, even when 14, 11 and 8 years had passed since the release date of each episode. I’m really glad I could finally complete this part of gaming history. And now, it’s your turn.
